Marc-Antoine Camirand 5th in his best race yet this year

Saskatoon (SK), July 16, 2015 – Marc-Antoine Camirand finished a fighting 5th in the Velocity Prairie 250, run on the quick Auto Clearing Motor Speedway oval, near Saskatoon, the second race of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCaTS) western tour. This was a repeat of the result of the previous race held at Edmonton last weekend. The double performance is testimony to the rise in experience and performance of both the rookie NCaTS driver and the White Motorsports-Grafoid-Braille Battery team.

Camirand confirmed the improvement: "We now arrive at the track with a competitive car right from the start. Crew Chief Robin McCluskey and the whole team work incredibly hard and effectively at the shop and at the track to give us the car we need to win. As a team, we are learning and improving quickly and the whole team is super motivated."

The car was quick and steady right from the first practice session, when it could go for 15 to 20 laps within a tenth of a second on used tires. Camirand was not happy with 14thposition in qualifying, even if he was just 0.3sec slower than pole position: "In qualifying, the more experienced drivers are really good at finding a better line and working with the colder tires. I need to get much better for these two-lap qualifying sessions. Starting at the back like I did here forces me to use more brakes and tires to get back to the front. This leaves me with less resource for the end of the race, when it really counts."

At the start, Camirand put his head down and started to move up from his 7th row starting spot. "I was patient as I had 250 laps to get the job done." He reached second place on lap 186, right behind eventual winner Scott Steckly, and fighting with the quickest drivers in the series: Andrew Ranger, LP Dumoulin, Alex Tagliani and Jason Hathaway.

The battle for the lead amongst five drivers was intense but clean. "The race was a long one, and I took my time working my way back to the front. That left me with good brakes and tires for the last part of the race, when I think I had the quickest car in the lead group. On the other hand, I kept messing up the restarts (There were 9), losing two or three spots each time and forcing me to claw my way back every time. Unfortunately, the last restart with 5 laps to go did not leave me with enough time to get back up to the leaders. I need to get much better at this quickly."

The team did get some good luck at the end of the race as the drive belt for the power steering and water pump broke with three laps to go. A Camirand put it: "The engine was overheating. Three more laps and it would have blown. But it didn't and we ended up 5th!"

Camirand then added that "We are all learning every time out, and we all look forward to coming back home for the races at St-Eustache and Trois-Rivières."

Marc-Antoine and the White Motorsports-Graphoid-Braille Battery team will be back on track on July 25 for the Lucas Oil National 250 at L'Autodrome St-Eustache, just North of Montréal.

Vallée-Jct., QC – Defending Serié ACT Champion Alex Labbé outdueled current point leader Dany Trépanier to win the Chaudiere 150 at Vallee-Jct., QC's Autodrome Chaudiere in an event that took two days to complete due to rain.

The event began on Saturday, July 11 before being halted after 44 laps and was restarted the afternoon of Sunday, July 12.

Gaetan Longtin led the first eight laps from the outside pole before Québec, QC's Jean-François Déry took over on the first of nine restarts.Trépanier grabbed the lead from the 2013 Serié ACT Champion on lap 32 and was out front when the rains came.

Labbé moved to the point shortly after the race resumed on Sunday, but Trépanier got back by him on lap 89. This began a back-and-forth duel that saw the lead change hands six times over a 39-lap span before Labbé regained it for good.

Trepanier settled for second, marking his fifth straight podium finish. Second-place point driver Jonathan Bouvrette took third, followed by Patrick Cliche and Karl Allard in fourth and fifth. Donald Theegte, Déry, Patrick Boyer, Gaetan Gaudreault, and Martin Goulet Jr. completed the top-10.

ACT Heavyweights Helliwell, Pole Head to Airborne for International

ACT Heavyweights Helliwell, Pole Head to Airborne for International

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                      ACT071515-81

<<ATTACHED PHOTO (496.JPG): Current ACT Tour point leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. (near right) is looking for his first International win at a track where he clinched both of his ACT Championships. (Dave Brown photo)>>

<<ATTACHED PHOTO (543.JPG): 2013 ACT International winner Joey Polewarczyk Jr. (#97NH) also won the Spring Green 115 at Airborne Park Speedway in May. (Dave Brown photo)>>

Waterbury, VT – The third running of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) International 500 on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway promises to be one of the most star-studded stock car racing events of the 2015 season. Numerous former Champions have entered either or both of the twin 200-lap, $10,000-to-win events for the ACT Late Models and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models at the 1/2-mile oval, including two former ACT Tour Champions locked in a battle royale for this season's title.

Two-time ACT Tour Champion and current point leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. returns to challenge for the International win after finishing ninth in the 2013 event. Dover, NH's Helliwell already has three ACT Tour wins this season, including the most recent event at White Mountain Motorsports Park on June 20. He previously captured the 2012 Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne, securing his first Tour Championship in the process.

"It would definitely mean a lot to win this race," Helliwell said. "At Airborne we won our first ACT Championship back in 2012, and then we won our second in 2013, but yet almost had it taken it away (by a late crash). So there's been a lot of highs and lows at that speedway. I think to follow that up with a win in the International, with the amount of people and the talent that's going to be there for this race, would be huge."

Defending ACT Tour Champion and 2013 International winner Joey Polewarczyk Jr. sits just 17 points behind Helliwell in the current standings. Hudson, NH's "Joey Pole" is gunning for his third straight Airborne victory after winning this year's Spring Green 115 and the 2014 Fall Foliage 200.

Although the International is a non-points event for ACT, Pole believes the intensity of the ACT Tour point battle will still be on display.

"I think it carries over, especially if there's a lot of money on the line like in this race," Pole said. "If you win it, it can make the year that much more manageable because you can fill the bank account. Plus (Wayne) wants to keep the momentum swinging in his direction; right now it is, because he won the last points event at White Mountain. We felt we had a good run finishing second, but winning just gives you a lot of momentum."

While Pole will attempt to capture the $10,000 winner's prizes in both the ACT Late Model and PASS Super Late Model events, Helliwell has elected to focus on his ACT effort. Pole thinks his ACT success at Airborne will help him get his PASS mount running well, while Helliwell believes that concentrating on a single car will give him an edge over drivers running both events.

A strong field of talent will vie with Helliwell and Pole for the victory. The top drivers in ACT Tour points have all entered the event, including Maine veterans Jeff White and Travis Stearns, Merchants Bank 150 winner Brad Babb, recent Vermont Governor's Cup winner Nick Sweet, and 18-year-olds Emily Packard and Brandon Atkins.

Pole will be joined in his double-duty quest by 2014 International winner Patrick Laperle, eight-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar, two-time Série ACT Champion Donald Theetge, and former ACT Rookie of the Year Bobby Therrien. Canadians such as defending Série ACT Champion Alex Labbé, 2013 Champion Jean-François Déry, and current point leader Dany Trépanier have also entered the event.

The ACT International 500 at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway is Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19. The ACT Late Models and PASS Super Late Models will both run 200-lap, $10,000-to-win events and will be joined by Quebec's RevStar SpeedSTRs and Slingshots. Qualifying begins on Saturday, July 18 at 6:30pm and features go to post at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 19. General admission is $40 for a two-day ticket, $20 forSaturday only, and $35 for Sunday only.

PASS Standouts Take on ACT and Airborne Veterans at International

PASS Standouts Take on ACT and Airborne Veterans at International

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                   ACT070815-76

<<ATTACHED PHOTO (IMG_2958.JPG): Berwick, ME's Joey Doirin (#73) will try to win the first PASS event at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway after previously winning the inaugural PASS event at Barre, VT's Thunder Road Speedbowl. (Alan Ward photo)>>

<<ATTACHED PHOTO (581.JPG): Former ACT International winners Joey Polewarczyk Jr. (#97NH) and Patrick Laperle (#91QC) will do double-duty at Airborne Park Speedway and take on the PASS standouts. (Dave Brown photo)>>

Waterbury, VT – The third annual American-Canadian Tour (ACT) International 500 at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway on July 18 and 19will be a showcase for Northeast short track stock car racing in 2015. The first-ever visit to Airborne from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) is part of a doubleheader featuring twin 200-lap, $10,000-to-win races for the ACT Late Models and the PASS Super Late Models.

Drivers such as Center Conway, NH's D.J. Shaw and Farmington, ME's Cassius Clark, the winners of the last two PASS North Championships, will have to tame the ½-mile oval quickly in order to pick up the winner's trophy over ACT standouts Joey Polewarczk Jr., Brian Hoar, and Patrick Laperle. One driver who has the ability to get up to speed is multi-time PASS North winner Joey Doiron of Berwick, ME, who triumphed in the Series' inaugural event at Barre, VT's Thunder Road Speedbowl on May 24.

"It's always cool when you have the chance to win an inaugural race," Doiron said. "I've raced at Airborne twice before (in an ACT Late Model), and it's a really fun track. I think it'll be really cool to bring our race cars there, and I think we'll put on a good show."

Doiron will be joined by multi-time PASS North Champions Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe as well as two-time defending Oxford 250 winner Travis Benjamin. Current PASS North point leader Mike Rowe of Turner, ME returns to the track where he won the 1994 Adirondack 150 on the former ACT Pro Stock Tour. One of the biggest purses of the year for the PASS National Championship event has also attracted multi-time NASCAR Modified Champion Ted Christopher, defending PASS 400 winner Derek Ramstrom, and Durham, NC's 15-year-old Tate Fogleman.

"It's definitely one of the biggest races of the season," Doiron said. "Everyone's going to be bringing their best there to try and take home the win, and it's a good purse. To be successful in the grand scheme, you've got to look at every race the same, with no one race more important than the other. But you definitely want to win when there's going to be a lot of people there and the purse is up."

The task will be made tougher by a number of ACT and Airborne veterans competing in the PASS event. Milton, VT's Brent Dragon may be a sleeper pick. The three-time Airborne Late Model Champion is in his second season with PASS North and will try to hoist another Airborne trophy in his first trip to the track since 2013.

Defending ACT International winner Patrick Laperle and 2013 winner Joey Polewarczyk Jr. lead the list of drivers attempting to capture both $10,000 first-place prizes. Laperle already has a PASS victory in 2015 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jct., QC, while "Joey Pole" is looking to make his first PASS win a big one.

They will be joined in their double-duty efforts by eight-time ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar, two-time Série ACT Champion Donald Theetge, and former ACT Tour Rookie of the Year Bobby Therrien. Fellow Former ACT Tour regular Glen Luce of Turner, ME has also entered the PASS event.

The ACT International 500 at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY is Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19. The ACT Late Models and PASS Super Late Models will both run 200-lap, $10,000-to-win events and will be joined by Quebec's RevStar Sprint Car Speedsters and Slingshots. Qualifying for all divisions begins on Saturday, July 18 at 6:30pm, and features go to post at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 19. General admission is $40 for a two-day ticket, $20 for Saturday only, and $35 for Sunday only.

STECKLY DOMINATES WESTERN SWING IN CANADIAN TIRE DODGE

STECKLY DOMINATES WESTERN SWING IN CANADIAN TIRE DODGE

Wednesday July 15, 2015, Saskatoon: Two races in Western Canada and two wins for Scott Steckly in the Canadian Tire Dodge.  Not only that, the 22 Racing Team head home to Ontario with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 championship points lead.

Steckly again had a good car right from the start of the day where he paced the field in the first practice. Second practice had him second quickest overall but optimistic the speed was in the car to run up front.  "I'm happy with the car," said Steckly after practice.  "We worked on it and made some minor changes for qualifying.

The changes worked as Steckly would again go two for two and set the quickest time giving him the pole for the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 just like the previous week at Edmonton.

This week would be different for Steckly who led all 300 laps the week before.  He had to fight off challenges from several competitors over the course of the 250 lap event.  A short rain delay would also be featured during the night's activities.  The Canadian Tire Dodge driver had his hands full as there were several cautions over the final 50 laps including a five lap dash to the finish.  But in the end the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge came away victorious.  "That was a lot more difficult than last Saturday's race," said Steckly.  "My car was a little slow for the first five laps after a restart and I had to battle to stay up front.  But then it would get better and we were able to go back to the lead again.  It's an incredible feeling to win both races out here and leave with the points lead."

The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday July 25th at 12:30 pm ET and on RDS2 on Sunday Aug. 8th at 2 p.m. ET.

Next up for Steckly and the team is the Lucas Oil National 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache on Saturday July 25th.

Scott Steckly is supported by Canadian Tire, MAXIMUM Tools, Mobil 1, Erb Transport, AW Millwrights, Reefer Sales & NOCO Lubricants.

Fans can follow Scott Steckly throughout the season on his website at 22Racing.ca or on Twitter @ScottSteckly22 or you can Like the 22RacingTeam Fan Page on Facebook.  For team updates on Scott and the other 22 Racing team entries follow us on Twitter @22RacingTeam.
