CONCORD, NC – May 29, 2020 – The weather is warming up, states are beginning to re-open and so are the racetracks. Eight different tracks hosted DIRTcar-sanctioned racing action over Memorial Day weekend and produced 16 different winners. This upcoming weekend, 15 tracks with DIRTcar classes are scheduled to be in operation. Here's a look back on who took the Memorial Day weekend checkers and what's on deck for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Memorial Day Weekend Recap
Saturday, May 23
BIG O SPEEDWAY in Ennis, TX, is one of very few dirt tracks in the nation currently operating on a weekly basis. On Saturday night, 10 DIRTcar Late Models took to the quarter-mile oval for a 25-lap Feature that saw Jim Moon, of New Florence, MO, take his second checkered flag of the season at BIG O.

CLARKSVILLE SPEEDWAY is another track currently open for weekly racing with spectators; this past weekend was their fifth Saturday in action since the start of the season in February. Winners listed below.

COMP Cams Highlight of the Week: Michael Rittenberry – This was Rittenberry's fifth consecutive win in five races in the Sport Compact division at Clarksville this year.

FAYETTEVILLE MOTOR SPEEDWAY – The newly reconfigured oval in Fayetteville, NC, opened its gates to spectators on Saturday night to witness the action on the new 3/8-mile red clay oval – the first since the downsizing from its previous half-mile distance. Christian Thomas took the UMP Modified checkers for his second DIRTcar victory of the season.
MERRITT SPEEDWAY – The first of two nights of racing action in the Michigan oval's opening weekend saw Chad Finley (Late Model) and Jeff Erickson Jr. (UMP Modified) score wins on Saturday night. Finley collected $2,000 for his big win.
PLYMOUTH SPEEDWAY – Weather forced the postponement of two Feature events on Saturday night at the Indiana oval, but not before Ryan Cripe found Victory Lane in the UMP Modified division.

Sunday, May 24
JACKSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY – The Ohio oval, operating under new management this season, boasted a car count of 100+ on Sunday night and ran three DIRTcar divisions. Winners listed below.
Late Model – JR Gentry
UMP Modified – Seth Daniels
Sport Mod – Blake Sheets
MERRITT SPEEDWAY – Sunday night's finale saw 2018 DIRTcar Late Model national points champion Rusty Schlenk take the win and $2,000 in the Late Model Feature; Chad Bauer scored the victory in the UMP Modified division.

Thursday, May 28
TYLER COUNTY SPEEDWAY – One of Tyler County Speedway's biggest weekends of the year kicks off this Thursday night as the first of three legs in the Dirt Modified Mega 100. The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will take to "The Bullring" for a 25-lap, $1,000-to-win show on Thursday night, then head to the sister Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday night before coming back to Tyler County for the finale on Saturday night.
The DIRTcar Late Models will also be on tap for a $5,000-to-win King of the Ring 40 main event. Pit gates open at 4pm, racing starts at 7. NO fan attendance permitted.
Friday, May 29
OHIO VALLEY SPEEDWAY – After getting rained out last weekend, the 3/8-mile West Virginia oval is keyed up for a big Friday night of action as leg #2 of the Mega 100 weekend for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds continues for $2,000-to-win over 30 laps. They will be joined by the DIRTcar Late Models, $1,500-to-win.

Saturday, May 30
BIG O SPEEDWAY – Another round of weekly competition is on tap at the Ennis, TX-oval, featuring the DIRTcar Late Models. It's Boy & Girl Scouts Night, so bring your little scouts in uniform and they'll watch for FREE
BROWNSTOWN SPEEDWAY – The Indiana oval opens up the pit gates this weekend for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Sportsmans, Factory Stocks and Sport Compacts. NO spectators permitted; grandstands closed. Facemasks highly recommended. Pit admission $35. Gates open at 2pm, Hot Laps at 6.
CHARLESTON SPEEDWAY – Opening day for the Illinois oval is finally going down with fan attendance at 25 percent of grandstand capacity. DIRTcar classes competing include UMP Modifieds, Pro Modifieds, Stock Cars, Factory Stocks and Sport Compacts. Gates open at 3pm.

DAVENPORT SPEEDWAY – The quarter and half-mile oval combo facility in Iowa welcomes the return of the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Broadcast coverage provided by DIRTVision presented by Drydene.
NO fan attendance. Grandstands will be closed. Pit gates open at 3pm, Hot Laps begin at 6.
ELKINS RACEWAY – The second consecutive week of spectator-less racing continues at the West Virginia facility with a regular show featuring the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds.
FEDERATED AUTO PARTS RACEWAY AT I-55 – Pevely, MO's famed 1/3-mile, high-banked oval returns to regular weekly racing this weekend with fans in the grandstands. Social distancing rules are in place and facemasks are encouraged.

DIRTcar Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Pro Mods, Sportsmans and Sport Compacts will all be in action. Pit gates will open at 4pm, grandstands at 5pm. Hot Laps will begin at 6:30, racing at 7:00 PM.
Jackson County Speedway – The second consecutive weekend of racing kicks off at the Ohio oval this Saturday night, featuring the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Sport Mods.
Merritt Speedway – $2,000 is up for grabs again in Merritt's DIRTcar Late Model division, accompanied by the UMP Modifieds. Pits open at 2pm, grandstands open at 3, racing starts at 6.
Oakshade Raceway – Opening night for the popular Ohio oval is finally here, albeit without fan attendance. DIRTcar Late Models and Sportsmans are on the racing docket.

Plymouth Speedway – The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds are back on the racing docket this weekend at the Indiana oval; Pit gates open at 2pm, Hot Laps at 4:30.
Richmond Raceway – Kentucky gets set to "Unleash the Beast" once again this week with a showing of the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their weekly program. No fan attendance. Pit gates open at 2pm.
Tyler County Speedway – The final night of action for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in the Dirt Modified Mega 100weekend wraps up with the third and final leg, heading back to America's Baddest Bullring for 40 laps and $3,000 to win.
