L'un des 100 tours des plus attendus de la saison arrive en ville ce lundi! Ce sont nuls autres que les surpuissants Gros-Blocs qui seront avec nous. Une motorisation qui rappellera des souvenirs aux nostalgiques, une puissance qui fera vibrer les fanatiques, et un tout qui fera fantasmer les anciens et les nouveaux amateurs présents qui découvriront le circuit peut-être pour la première fois.

Avec des pilotes du calibre de Brett Hearn ou de Danny Johnson, il n'y a presque rien à ajouter, à part peut-être le fait que de voir 900hp au travail sur une piste est un événement à ne pas manquer. Ajoutez les pilotes réguliers à cet évènement et le nombre de voitures en piste risque d'être démesuré.

En Sportsman, l'expérimenté Guy Ouellette, actuellement en tête du classement, a effectué une belle remonté lors du dernier programme et devrait continuer à donner du fil à retorde aux jeunes loups en piste. Les Dany Gagné, Mathieu Desjardins et Martin Pelletier devront faire preuve de beaucoup de persévérance pour venir à bout de déplacer le vétéran dans le classement.

Dans la série Lightning Sprint, une significative évolution a eu lieu dans le classement. Alex Therrien a chuté de quelques positions au classement général suite à quelques problèmes de motorisation. Les accidents et les ennuis mécaniques font partie des courses, mais avec des pilotes tels que Guillaume Neiderer et Jordan Poirier, le moindre écart risque d'être récupéré à leurs avantages. Une chaude lutte est à prévoir dans notre classe unique de voiture à aileron!

Steckly Weathers Wild West 
Earns Second Consecutive Win in 2015

 

 

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada (July 15, 2015) – Three-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 champion Scott Steckly calls the eastern edge of Ontario home, but after the week he's had racing, he may consider relocating to Canada's western region.

 

Piloting his No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge, Steckly emerged from a fierce, race-long battle for the lead with Andrew Ranger, Jason Hathaway, and L.P. Dumoulin – and endured two red flag periods – to capture his second consecutive win of the season in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.

 

Steckly won the Alberta Has Energy 300 just five days ago at Edmonton International Raceway. The victory increases his series record on ovals to 18, and is his third career win at ACMS.

 

Jason Hathaway was sent to the rear of the field for remaining in the pit area too long after the halfway break, but rebounded to take the lead temporarily on lap 226.  Steckly regained the top spot for good on lap 239, but Hathaway held off Andrew Ranger to earn his second runner-up finish on the season.

 

Ranger led a total of four times during the race, but a slide on Lap 186 dropped him back in the field and he was forced to settle for a third place finish.

 

Mark Dilley was penalized for jumping the start on the initial green flag, moving to the rear of the field after a pass through penalty.  He climbed to fifth place by the halfway break, and finished in the fourth position for the night.

 

Jostens Rookie of the Year contender Marc-Antoine Camirand posted his second consecutive fifth-place finish and third overall for his career.

 

Noel Dowler, Alex Tagliani, J.F. Dumoulin, James Van Domselaar, and Adam Dowler rounded out the top 10.

 

The first 100 laps set the tone for the evening, featuring a constant battle for the lead between Steckly, L.P. Dumoulin, and Ranger, with Ranger and Steckly exchanging the lead three times and Dumoulin leading 11 laps in between.

 

On Lap 102, Erica Thiering made hard contact on the backstretch and the cars of Joey McColm, Nick Jewell, Adam Dowler, and Matthew Scannell were collected. The red flag was displayed for over nine minutes as the track was cleared.

 

At the halfway break, Steckly led Ranger, L.P. Dumoulin, Gary Klutt, and Mark Dilley.

 

On Lap 206, the red flag was displayed again as light rain forced a temporary delay in the racing action. The race included a total of nine caution flags.

 

The race will be televised on TSN on July 25 at 12:30 p.m. ET and on RDS2 at 2 p.m. on Aug. 8.

 

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 returns to action on July 25 for the Lucas Oil National 250 at Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec.

- RPM Speedway de Saint-Marcel.  Fidèle à son habitude, la piste de St-Marcel accueille de nombreuses classes en plus des Modifiés réguliers. Les Sportsman et les Sport Compact en sont à leur deuxième visite chez nous.

Modifiés (2 x 40  tours)

David Hébert #ONE et Mario Clair #22 sont toujours en tête de cumul, mais maintenant à égalité ! Ils devancent de 32 points Sébastien Gougeon #44 qui ne doit pas regretter son choix d'être régulier chez nous cette année. Dominic Dufault #63 et Alan Therrien #39a sont quatrième et cinquième au classement. Ils sont tous deux montés sur le podium, mais pas encore sur la plus haute marche cette année.

Sportsman (2 x 25 tours)

Martin Pelletier #92 et Mathieu Desjardins #1m possédant chacun une victoire et une deuxième place jusqu'à maintenant ne sont qu'à un point l'un de l'autre au sommet. Jonathan Désilets #21 est troisième avec une sixième et une troisième obtenues au premier programme. Guy Ouellette #32 est quatrième avec deux cinquièmes.

Sport Compact (20 tours)

Patrick Renaud #00 court pour la troisième année dans la catégorie. À sa première course à vie au RPM Speedway, il a marqué une victoire. Bruno Lafontaine #19 a mené les 3 premiers tours de la première épreuve chez nous, a quitté pour une crevaison et n'a pas eu le temps de revenir sur le tour des meneurs. Espérons que la chance lui sourira cette fois-ci.

Mod Lite (20 tours)

Kevin Burke #91 est toujours premier au classement. Sa victoire chez nous à la dernière course de la série n'a que solidifié sa place. Martin Fleurent #52 avec sa seconde position le 4 juillet dernier est monté deuxième devant Richard Tessier #85 dans le cumul. La recrue Benjamin Cartier #22B est encore 5ème derrière le champion 2014 Éric Désilets.

Mini Mod (25 tours – petite piste)

Jean-François Leblanc #21 a déclassé Patrick Lapolice #68 de la première place au classement le laissant deuxième. Maxime Desrosiers #3m se maintient troisième. Danny Dingman #20 avait mené les 8 premiers tours de la finale lors du dernier programme puis était troisième lorsqu'une jante arrière s'est brisée. Il compte sur la prochaine course pour reprendre là où il a laissé.

Slingshot SR (15 tours) petite piste

Si Gabriel Lussier #23 possède toutes les victoires au RPM, son père André #71 a conquis le pavé de Vallée-Jonction le 11 juillet dernier en remportant les deux finales au menu. Amélie #63 et Manuel Messier #63M ont chacun fini deuxième. Charlyne Galarneau #16 et Martin Lizotte #39 ont complété les podiums.

Slingshot JR (10 tours) petite piste

Du côté de Vallée-Jonction samedi dernier, Donovan Lussier #00 le fils de notre promoteur Dominic, a remporté les deux finales.  Alex Lizotte #39 et la recrue Christopher Cormier #95 ont fait chacun deux podiums. Lussier et Cormier ont des paternels à l'aise sur le bitume à qui ils ont fait bien plaisir.

Weekly short track racing can often encompass opposite ends of the spectrum. A driver can accept the big cheque in victory lane at one event, then be faced with long hours in the shop rebuilding their equipment after the next. Friday, July 10th Mike Beyore went through every possible sensation as the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model Series made their first stop of the year at Delaware Speedway.

 

After a strong runner-up effort at Sunset Speedway Saturday, June 6th, the veteran campaigner known as 'The Whitby Warrior' rolled onto the track for the night's first qualifying heat with a positive. His optimism quickly changed as the #54 machine struggled to keep pace with the leaders and finished the preliminary round at the tail-end of the field. Never one to accept defeat or sit and lick his wounds, Beyore and the crew went over the car from top to bottom; back to front looking for a solution. A patient, albeit detailed approach was finalized with a gear change before the teams rolled onto the track for the second round of qualifying. The driver is always quick to praise the hard work of his crew when the chips are down.

 

"These guys are the best crew in the series," said a beaming Mike Beyore. "They don't just bust their butts at the shop, but at the track as well. If we needed to, I'm sure they could change everything on the car but the number if it meant getting more out of our stuff. When I slide into the seat, I'm always confident that we've done everything we can to be a contender."

 

For the second heat, the car did everything the driver and crew had expected, taking the qualifying win and strengthening the team's starting spot for the night's main event. Even though they were solidly in the big show, the crew still did a final round of checks on the car before taking to the track for the headline dance.

 

"In the feature, the car was as close to perfect as it has ever been and it looked like we were on our way to another strong finish," said the second generation racer. "We were leading and the car showed its strength on the restarts. With a couple of red flags and sitting on the track with cars running along-side me, I was overcome by fumes and started to feel ill. It was a very disappointing end to the day after everyone had worked so hard to make the car as good as it was. To be credited with a 13th place finish when we could've won is heartbreaking."

 

Next on the schedule for the #54 team will be a companion event with the OSCAAR Super Late Model, Modified and Midget teams Saturday, July 25th at Sauble Speedway. Then Peterborough Speedway's Chase for the Colours Touring Series Pole Qualifier – Saturday, August 1st – will help determine starting spots for the 23rd Annual Autumn Colours Classic.

March 11, 12 & 13, 2016 at Toronto's International Centre

 

TORONTO, ON // JULY 16, 2015 • The second annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo will return to Toronto's International Centre March 11, 12 & 13, 2016.

 

Building upon the success of the inaugural show, held this past March, Motorama's management team will remain intact for 2016. As well, the show will expand to fill all of Halls 1 & 2 at the popular venue, located across from Toronto's Pearson International Airport. The additional space will accommodate more vehicles and displays.

 

The inaugural Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo combined the traditional custom car and hot rod show at the International Centre with the long-running Canadian Motorsports Expo. The result was an entertaining and interactive three-day celebration of incredible automobiles and Canadian racing that attracted almost 25,000 car and motorsports enthusiasts.

 

"We're still on a high after the inaugural Motorama show," said co-promoter David Weber. "The response – from the fans, exhibitors and sponsors – was universally positive. We're very proud of the way things went this past March and we're excited to have a full year to build Motorama2016. And as of today, exhibitors can book their space for next March."

 

Following last year's show, several exhibitors were eager to reserve their same spaces for Motorama 2016. The new floorplan is now in place and 2015 show exhibitors have until the end of the day on Friday, October 30 to register and reserve their '2015 spots,' for 2016.

 

After that date, all remaining exhibitor space will be released and made available to the industry.

In terms of news that can be announced, Motorama's Greg MacPherson said, "As a result of the show's success, we've already committed to filling all of Halls 1 & 2. We're also excited to confirm that Gary Challice will be back as a key part of our team. He did an amazing job last year and he's a pleasure to work with. As good as last year's show was, we're confident it can be even better in 2016. We have several other significant announcements in the works, so stay tuned."

 

Discussing the additional show space, Motorama's Mike Galipeau said, "We filled every available inch of exhibitor space this past March. We had a few people who waited until the last minute to try and book space, and they were disappointed. So we're encouraging people to get their renewals and registrations in early for Motorama 2016. We're adding additional space, but we can already tell that demand will be much greater based on the success of the inaugural Motorama show and the feedback we've received."

Autodrome Granby. Ce mardi 21 juillet 2015, c'est l'évènement qu'on attendait avec impatience : la venue des Modifiés Gros Blocs et de la série Dirt Sportsman.

100 x Modifié

 

Billy Decker #91, champion de la Super Dirtcar series l'an passé est présentement le meneur dans le classement. Il avait terminé deuxième sur notre piste l'année dernière. Même scénario pour Matt Sheppard #9H, vice-champion 2014 de la série est deuxième au cumul actuel. Jimmy Phelps #98H est quant à lui troisième dans les points mieux qu'à la fin 2014 où il était quatrième. C'est Danny Johnson #27J qui est sur cette position en 2015. Ce téméraire pilote a terminé en petit bloc derrière David Hébert #ONE à Cornwall le weekend dernier. Hébert a fini deuxième derrière Bill Dunn #49 dimanche. Rappelons-nous que David Hébert avait terminé 6ème avec son petit bloc l'an dernier chez nous. Il viendra cette fois avec un gros bloc. Mario Clair #22C utilisera aussi son gros-bloc qui l'a mené à la cinquième place à Volusia le 21 février dernier.

 

50 x Sportsman

 

Corey Wheeler #47S actuellement premier au classement de Cornwall et deuxième dans celui de MIR nous a prévenu de sa présence. Jessica Power  #52, troisième à Brockville et sixième à Cornwall  a aussi dit présente ! Ces derniers ne sont pas venus pour la série Seaway ne pouvant obtenir les congés nécessaires. Shane Pecore #0 qui a terminé troisième chez nous vendredi 10 juillet dernier pourrait encore être de compétition lui qui avait aussi fini dans cette position lors du passage de la série Dirt en 2014. Pecore est actuellement premier au Mohawk International Raceway et troisième dans la jeune série Dirt qui en est seulement à sa troisième épreuve. Mathieu Desjardins #1M champion défendant de la série Dirt y est présentement premier. Martin Pelletier #92 est 5ème devant Power #52. C'est Pelletier qui avait remporté l'épreuve à Granby l'an dernier devant Desjardins.

 

 

 

25 x Prostock

 

Le pilote local Alain Brochu #12 est actuellement 4ème au championnat avec que des tops 10 et un podium. Il voudra certes la victoire avant la fin de l'année. François Adam #01 le suit dans les points avec 3 victoires à son actif, mais aucun autre podium comme quoi avec lui il n'y a pas de demi-mesure. Pascal Payeur #338, malgré ses malchances, est la recrue la mieux positionnée au classement, soit treizième, avec deux 6ème places comme meilleur résultat jusqu'à maintenant.

Derek White a confirmé qu'il sera au Volant le la Chevrolet no 33 de l'équipe Circle-Sport lors de la course du 19 juilletprochain au New Hampshire Motor Speedway. L'équipe utilise des voitures et moteurs du Richard Childress Racing, une des équipes de première ligne en NASCAR. 

 

Kahnawake, le 13 juillet 2015.– Il s'agira d'une première en série Sprint Cup pour un pilote membre d'une des Premières Nations, les Mohawks dans le cas présent. White habite et travaille à Kahnawake, sur la Rive-Sud près de Montréal. Derek White a conclu son entente avec l'équipe lors de la course au Kentucky Speedway le week-end passé. 

 

Le pilote de la série Xfinity trépigne à la seule pensée de courir en série Sprint ; « J'ai toujours cherché à me battre avec les meilleurs et dans les meilleures conditions possible. Des pilotes tels que Ty Dillon, Alex Kennedy et Brian Scott ont piloté cette année la 33 que je vais piloter. Les patrons de Circle-Sport Racing, Joe Falk et Mike Hillman, m'offrent précisément ce dont j'ai besoin pour optimiser la qualité et les résultats de cette première expérience pour moi, autant au niveau de l'équipement que celui du personnel.»

 

White ajoutait : « Il s'agit pour moi d'une chance unique de rouler dans les meilleures conditions, je dois remercier mes partenaires, Grafoid, Braille Battery et O.C.R. Gaz Bar qui ont rendu la chose possible. » Derek aura l'occasion de parfaire ses connaissances de la piste en participant à la course Xfinity du samedi à bord de la voiture no 13 de son équipe, inscrite pour toute la saison dans cette série.

 

Après 30 années en courses de Drag, Derek a découvert les pistes ovales pavées en 2009, où il a remporté le titre de recrue de l'année 2010 en série NASCAR Canadian Tire, avant de se tourner vers la Série NASCAR Xfinity en 2015. 

 

L'Équipe White Motorsports participe aussi à la série NASCAR Canadian Tire avec ses partenaires Grafoid, Braille Battery et O.C.R. Gaz Bar. Marc-Antoine Camirand, le pilote de l'équipe et recrue cette saison dans cette série, occupe le 9e rang au cumulatif après la 9e des 11 courses de la saison 2015. L'équipe sera en piste mercredi soir le 15 juillet pour le Velocity Prairie 250 au Auto Clearing Motor Speedway près de Saskatoon (SK).

Derek White has just confirmed that he will be at the wheel of the Circle-Sport No. 33 for the July 19 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The team is a satellite of Richard Childress Racing, one of the lead teams in NASCAR. This will mark the first time a Native American will race in NASCAR top category. White, a full-blooded Mohawk, resides in Kahnawake, just outside of Montreal, Canada.

White was very busy this past weekend in Daytona, negotiating with two Sprint Cup teams to secure a deal for his first drive in the highest level of racing in NASCAR, at the upcoming race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 19. White is committed to making the jump into the senior series. "I love to compete against the best there is, as I did earlier in my career in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and then in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Racing in the Sprint Cup has been a goal of mine right from the start of my racing career."

 

Derek White, a Mohawk living near Montreal (Canada), came to NASCAR after almost 30 years of Drag Racing, culminating with a 1300hp-8 sec car. At the time, White wanted an even more exciting outlet for his energies and turned to oval racing on pavement in 2009. He enjoyed the new type of racing right from the start. "After a few races in lower series, I moved to the highest level of stock car racing in Canada, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series where I was named 2010 Rookie of the year.''

 

After some 35 races in the Canadian Tire Series, White moved up again, to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for six races before moving up again to the NASCAR Nationwide Series (Now called the Xfinity Series), and one step below the top series in NASCAR, the Sprint Cup. 

 

On a different front this past weekend, all did not go well with the two cars entered by White Motorsports - Grafoid – Braille Battery in the Xfinity Series, as neither car was allowed to start. Derek's car broke its engine and could not run quickly enough to qualify, and the second car did qualify but was then disqualified in post-qualifying inspection for a freak rear suspension problem that left the car too low at the back.

 

Derek White was not a happy man. « We have brought both cars at every Xfinity race this season and this is the first time at least one car does not make the race – the first time in my career in fact! Both cars were certainly quick enough to qualify, after finishing in the Top 5 in one of the practice sessions. This is extremely frustrating. »

 

Reached by phone on Sunday, White had already pushed the Xfinity misadventure out of his mind, and concentrating on the Sprint Cup ride. Both Xfinity cars will be at Kentucky for the next race this coming Saturday.
