MULTIMATIC MOTORSPORTS PRESENTS HUGE MUSTANG TRIBUTE FEATURE AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

MULTIMATIC MOTORSPORTS PRESENTS HUGE MUSTANG

TRIBUTE FEATURE AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 19, 2019 • The fifth annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo will recognize and celebrate the 55th anniversary of the legendary Ford Mustang. Presented by Multimatic Motorsports, The Mustang Corralwill feature an eye-catching assortment of street and racing versions of the iconic muscle car, from its introduction to the present.

Still reeling from the failure of the Ford Edsel, Henry Ford II was originally reluctant to approve Lee Iacocca's concept for the new Mustang. Eventually, Ford relented, and production began, with the first example rolling off the assembly line on March 9, 1964. Over the ensuing 55 years, six generations of Mustangs – totalling over 10 million vehicles – have been produced.

Stated Motorama Show Car Co-ordinator Gary Challice, "It's perfectly timed for the Motorama show to celebrate the Mustang, a car that set the standard for the muscle cars in the 1960s and beyond. Mustang has such a glorious history, we're honoured to have more than 40 examples, covering the full spectrum of street, road racing and drag cars, here to celebrate the 55th anniversary."

Challice continued, "We will have a very rare, special edition Laguna Seca Mustang on display in the front hall. And with the aid of the Barrie Mustang Cruisers, The Golden Horseshoe Mustang Club and The Ontario Mustang Club, show visitors will be able to see virtually every style of Mustang ever produced."

When it comes to engineering and building production-based Mustangs for global road racing series, the undisputed leader is Markham, Ontario's Multimatic Motorsports.

With the assistance of Canadian race driver, Scott Maxwell, Multimatic has designed, developed and constructed road-race Mustangs that have enjoyed a long and distinguished history of success.

One of Multimatic's most recent developments is the Mustang GT4, homologated for global GT4 competition, and currently racing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Blancpain GT World Challenge America and the British GT Championship.

Multimatic Motorsports' display atMotorama will include a Mustang GT4, along with the company's 'retro-mod' 1932 Ford Coupe. In addition, as builder of the current Ford GT supercar, Multimatic will have one on display, liveried in the iconic Comstock Racing colours. Multimatic will also have recruiters on-site, specifically seeking highly skilled painters and detailers for its Ford GT assembly facility in Markham.

Multimatic Motorsports will support the show's Mustang exhibitors by sponsoring participation plaques of appreciation that will be awarded to each car owner.

"The response from Mustang clubs and car owners to the anniversary feature atMotorama has been incredible," said Motorama's Rob Morton. "This will be the biggest single-make celebration we've ever included at the show. The fact that Canada's own Multimatic is going to be a big part of it is the cherry on top! We've worked closely with them since our company was formed in 1997. We were honoured to be on their Le Mans-winning car in 2000, and Larry Holt's (Multimatic's Chief Technology Officer) column in our car racing magazine, Inside Track Motorsport News, is a 'must read' piece in every issue. We're honoured that they're participating at the show this year."

The Mustang Corral will occupy the southern portion of Hall 2 in Toronto's International Centre and will welcome the public for all three days (March 8, 9 & 10) ofMotorama.

TOM SMITH FROM DISCOVERY’S MISFIT GARAGE TO APPEAR ALL THREE DAYS AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

TOM SMITH FROM DISCOVERY'S MISFIT GARAGE TO APPEAR ALL THREE DAYS AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 5, 2019 • Tom Smith, one of the stars of Discovery Channel's Misfit Garage will be at the Toronto Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo all three days of the show, meeting fans, talking about cars and his television show, and participating in a variety of events.

Motorama takes place March 8, 9 & 10 at the International Centre, across from the city's Pearson Airport.

Undoubtedly the funniest of the 'misfits' who work at Dallas, Texas' Fired Up Garage, Smith is very serious about his love of automobiles. Born in Ohio but raised in Georgia, he started working at his uncle's salvage yard at a young age. Between that and other jobs and chores, he was able to save enough money to purchase his first car – a '73 Pontiac Grand Ville two-door – at the age of 10.

Misfit Garage is currently airing its sixth season of shows on Discovery. The individuals who work at the shop all have distinct roles, talents and personalities. Over the years, the 'misfits' have produced increasingly higher quality vehicles for greater profits but there's always plenty of drama at the garage and it's usually a struggle getting everyone pulling in the same direction as the delivery deadline looms. And then there are the frequent visits by their cocky nemesis Richard Rawlings (Fast N' Loud), that inevitably add to the chaos.

Through it all, Tom Smith contributes to the builds, employing his skills as a Ford Master Mechanic and an ASC Certified Mechanic.

He also contributes to the level of comedy with his self-effacing humour that sees him doing things like drag racing a 'souped-up' beer cooler to break the tension.

During his professional career, Smith has done many things, including being an amateur stand-up comic, which shouldn't be a surprise to his many fans.

In addition to his love of speed and the smell of burning rubber and properly cooked bacon, Tom and his wife Deanna are also passionate about their four grown children and their two beautiful grandsons. When not filming or working on cars, Tom helps Deanna rescue and transport dogs. The couple has three rescued pit bulls of their own.

Tom has been to Canada for car shows twice in the past and is looking forward to coming back.

"We've been to Belleville (ON) and Moncton (NB) and loved coming to Canada both times," said Smith. "Misfit Garage airs on Discovery Canada and it's fantastic how many people know about and enjoy the show. Deanna and I have made some great friends and met some amazing people; many of whom we stay in constant contact with, to this day. We know it'll be a great time at Motorama and we're looking forward to being part of the show and making a lot more friends."

Tom Smith's schedule at Motorama will be published on the 'schedule' page at www.MotoramaShow.com in the coming weeks.

THREE ROCKABILLY BANDS TO BE FEATURED SATURDAY ON THE ZEHR STAGE IN THE MAYHEM ROOM AT MOTORAMA

THREE ROCKABILLY BANDS TO BE FEATURED SATURDAY

ON THE ZEHR STAGE IN THE MAYHEM ROOM AT MOTORAMA

March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 13, 2019 • An exciting new feature of the fifth annualMotorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo is the Zehr Insurance Mayhem in the Backroom, a celebration of traditional custom cars and hot rods, and the rockabilly lifestyle.

Mayhem will fill the 30,000 square-foot Hall 3 at Toronto's International Centre during the show, which takes place March 8, 9 & 10 at the massive venue across from Pearson Airport.

On Saturday (March 9), the Zehr Stagewill come to life with the sounds of three incredible rockabilly bands.

Headlining the show will be WILD Records' Los Angeles-based Rhythm Shakers (top); the most 'in-demand' band on the international rockabilly scene. Known for the ferocity of their live shows, lead singer Marlene Perez is manic fireball who scorches the stage with backing from the tightest rhythm section in rockabilly.

Perez' wild red hair makes audiences believe that a call to the fire marshal is imminent. Their songs of heartbreak and hedonism are sung with alternating soul and savagery.

Making only a handful of live appearances each year, The Rhythm Shakers have headlined many gigs and festivals around the world, including Viva Las Vegas and England's Rockabilly Rave.

Their Motorama appearance will mark their Canadian debut, making their performance a 'must see' event. The Rhythm Shakers are a 'day one' member of the WILD Records stable, producing three CDs and several 45s for the label known as 'home' to the world's most unhinged rock 'n' roll bands.

Appearing on the Zehr Stage immediately prior to The Rhythm Shakers are Toronto's own Greasemarks (middle), the only Canadian band reckless enough – on and off the stage – to be part of the WILD Records family.

Tasked with making sure Mayhem's Saturday night party is suitably loose before the Shakers take over, these guys and their primal rock 'n' roll are no strangers to all-night house rockin'.

Word of mouth for their live shows has taken them from Toronto backyard parties to the biggest festivals and car shows in North America. The Greasemarks' debut CD was released at the Nashville Palace during 2018's Nashville Boogie and was an immediate hit, getting constant airplay all around the Rockabilly world.

Starting things off on Saturday (March 9) is another great Toronto band, The Royal Crowns (bottom). Known as Canada's purveyors of greasy rock 'n' roll since 1990, these regal rockers feature Danny Bartley on lead guitar, Teddy Fury on drums, Cory Richardson on upright and electric base and James Henry on rhythm guitar.

Putting the swing, the swagger and the 'billy' back into roots music, their sound ranges from Rockabilly, to rhythm and blues, to surf, to hillbilly jazz. These gritty rock 'n' rollers will get the dance floor jumping' and the hearts a pumpin'.

Saturday's rockabilly show on the Zehr Stage gets underway at 4 p.m., with The Royal Crowns, following the conclusion of the Miss Motorama Pinup PageantThe Greasemarks will take over at 5:30 p.m., leading into the headline Rhythm Shakers at 7 p.m.

CANADA’S GRANT SCHWARTZ, FROM SEASONS 2 & 3 OF VEGAS RAT RODS, TO APPEAR AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

CANADA'S GRANT SCHWARTZ, FROM SEASONS 2 & 3 OF
VEGAS RAT RODS, TO APPEAR AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 25, 2019 • Some people spend a lifetime trying to get on television. However, it was television that came calling on Bloomingdale, Ontario's Grant Schwartz, a call that ultimately resulted in a two-year stint with the Las Vegas-based WelderUp gang and a role on the Vegas Rat Rods television show.

From Bloomingdale, to Las Vegas, and ultimately back to Elmira, Ontario, Schwartz has returned to his roots – both personally and professionally – and on March 8, 9 & 10, Schwartz will bring his skills, knowledge and stories to the 5th annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. The show takes place at The International Centre, across from Toronto's Pearson Airport.

"Working on the TV show was completely different from anything else I've ever done and it's sure not the way things get done in 'normal life,'" said Schwartz. "A lot of waiting, a lot of tripping over people, fab sequences filmed out of order… 'reality TV' is the farthest thing from reality that you could imagine."

He continued, "But it was a great learning experience. Everyone builds in their own fashion and watching the way those extremely talented people work and seeing the different tricks they use to get to a finished project has translated into some great new ideas and procedures for me in my own business."

Among the television builds that Schwartz had a hand on wereCaterkillerGunner's MateDynamite Truck and the re-working of Steve Darnell's personal D-Rod.

Schwartz looks forward to connecting with fellow auto enthusiasts at Motorama.

"I'll be a part of the Hot Rod Discussion Panel on the Rust-Oleum Stage and I plan to be around the new Motorama Mayhem 'rockabilly' room a bunch, in Hall 3. Most of the stuff I've done are Hot Rods; that's where my passion lies, so I'd like to see what else is out there."

Schwartz is an admitted 'hands-on' guy with his fabrication efforts. "All of my work leads to a good foundation that I can pass on. Building the framework, mounting the suspension, hanging the body… that work that gives me the most satisfaction. For wiring, upholstery and painting, I leave that for someone else."

The Schwartz Welding shop floor is currently filled with a wide assortment of projects including a 1928 De Soto Businessman's Coupe, a '69 Econoline van, and an "old T-Bucket," all sitting alongside his almost-completed 1932 Essex Rat Rod, and his "forever ongoing" rebuild of a 1961 Comet.

"All of my builds have one thing in common, they're all drivers. My goal is to make vehicles that are driveable, enjoyable and safe. No 'trailer queens' for me."

Speaking on behalf of Motorama, show co-promoter Greg MacPherson said, "We're all looking forward to having Grant Schwartz be part of Motorama. Over the years, WelderUp owner Steve Darnell has appeared at the show twice and 'Barber' Dave and Twiggy have come, too. We love our friends from Vegas Rat Rods and it's going to be great having Grant come this year."

Hoosier, Elmo’s Become Official Partners at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Hoosier, Elmo's Become Official Partners at Devil's Bowl Speedway

Point fund and contingency programs in place for 2019 season

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                                  DBS-021419-1

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway has upgraded two of its affiliations to "Official Partner" status for 2019, and the Vermont dirt track's 53rd season of racing will have a hue of "Hoosier purple" as a result.  Hoosier Racing Tire and Elmo's Speed & Supply have been officially welcomed to the track's family of sponsors and marketing partners, with each strengthening its commitment to supporting race teams at Devil's Bowl.

Based in Manchester, Connecticut, Hoosier Tires East, Inc. is the regional Hoosier distributor for the Northeast and has been a Devil's Bowl affiliate for more than a decade, albeit at a handshake-agreement level.  Elmo's Speed & Supply of Burnt Hills, New York, began providing race-day support to Devil's Bowl in 2018 as a local Hoosier Tires East satellite dealer and racing parts vendor.

Under the terms of their new agreements for 2019, Hoosier Racing Tire is the "Official Tire of Devil's Bowl Speedway" and Elmo's Speed & Supply is the "Official Parts Supplier of Devil's Bowl Speedway."  Hoosier remains the exclusive tire used in the Sportsman Modified, Limited Sportsman, and 500cc Mini Sprint divisions at Devil's Bowl, and all cars in those divisions and the Super Stock and Mini Stock classes will carry Hoosier and Elmo's decals as part of the contingency sponsorship package in 2019.

Both organizations will contribute to the track's season-long point fund, and champions will receive the coveted purple Hoosier jackets at the annual Banquet of Champions.

"I'm grateful for the support from Rob Summers of Hoosier and from the Reckner family at Elmo's," Devil's Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said.  "Hoosier tires are on every car in three of our divisions, and I'll bet that just about every racer visited the Elmo's trailer at one time or another last year for parts or advice.  Everyone will benefit from this deal – the teams, the track, and the sponsors – and it means a lot to have them on board."

Devil's Bowl Speedway opens on Sunday night, May 19, with a full card of the five weekly divisions and the popular Street-Legal Spectator Races.  Competitor registration forms and membership licenses are available at a discounted rate now through March 31, and season passes for both general admission grandstand seating and the pit area are also on sale.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2, and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112. Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway, and on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.

Elliott will showcase a new paint scheme on his Late Model stock car, featuring a 'retro' look to celebrate his relationship with Quaker State and to honour the crew members who have spent at least one full season on his crew during his time in the sport.

Quaker State first appeared on Gary Elliott's car in 1974, making the 2019 season their 46thconsecutive year together. According to Elliott, his relationship with Quaker State is the longest continuous driver / corporate sponsor relationship in the history of motorsports.

It's been an amazing career, so far, and Elliott shows no signs of slowing down. He's planning a full season of action in his Late Model and OSCAAR Modified. Entering the 2019 season, he's competed in a stunning 817 consecutive events, not missing a night of racing since June of 1987.

Elliott turns 72 years old this season and jokes, "I might scale things back a bit in the future, when I get older."

Discussing his motivation, Elliott says, "I've lost zero passion for racing. And I'm so lucky that my health is good. And when I think about Quaker State, I'm absolutely honoured to have carried their logo on my car all these years. I love their products and I've always been proud to have the opportunity to represent Quaker State at racetracks and all the appearances we do."

While Gary Elliott's Quaker State race car has been a regular feature at Motorama and other car shows over the decades, this year marks the company's debut as a sponsor / exhibitor at Canada's largest indoor automotive and motorsports show. Canadian Touring Car Championship driver, Bob Attrell, will also be a part of Quaker State's presence at the show. Attrell will be showing off a new vehicle, i30 N TCR Hyundai race car ahead of the 2019 season beginning in May. Attrell has a winning motorsports career with Hyundai Racing Canada and Quaker State, capturing 1st place in the Canadian Touring Car Championship GT Cup Class in 2018 and 1st place in the Canadian Touring Car Championship GT Sport Class in 2017.

"We're looking forward to being part of the Toronto Motorama show and we're excited about Quaker State being the Official Motor Oil of Motorama," said Jay Schippanoski, Vice-President and General Manager, Shell Canada Lubricants. "Our display will feature Gary Elliott's well-known Quaker State Late Model, Bob Attrell's i30 N TCR and a variety of current motor oil products."

Speaking on behalf of Motorama, co-promoter Greg MacPherson said, "Quaker State's long-running sponsorship of Gary Elliott is legendary and we're honoured that they're taking such a prominent role at Motorama. Gary has some neat things planned for his paint scheme for 2019 and it's great that he's chosen to debut it at Motorama. And beyond just their booth presence, in their capacity as The Official Oil of Motorama, Quaker State will provide complimentary product to all of the automotive exhibitors in the show and participate in the awards presentations."

SPRING FEVER 4 TUNES UP TORONTO’S MOTORAMA SHOW

SPRING FEVER 4 TUNES UP TORONTO'S MOTORAMA SHOW

March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // JANUARY 31, 2019 • One of the most distinctive disciplines of the custom car hobby is the segment related to the Tuner, Import and Modern Modified formats.

A relatively recent addition to the collector car fraternity, these hobbyists and competitors have found a home at theMotorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. For the fourth consecutive year, Spring Fever: Modified Cars & Culture will showcase the best of the Tuner and Import lifestyle in Hall 4 of Toronto's International Centre. The show takes place March 8, 9 & 10.

"The goal of Spring Fever is to allow show visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the best that our community has to offer," stated SF4 Director Kristine Hill. "We don't just have cars on display here, we have live music, a great range of Tuner and Modified associated vendors and something that was really popular last year, a tattoo artist."

Another attraction this year will be a demonstration of 'vehicle wrapping;' the modern alternative to a custom paint job.

SF4 will again feature more than 80 vehicles in the 30,000 square foot Hall 4. With the ever-increasing popularity of the show, spots are filling rapidly, and Hill must be choosey when accepting applications.

"We try to maintain a 70:30 ratio of first-time shown vehicles to returning cars. We want to showcase as many different and new cars as we can to our show visitors," continued Hill. "That means we have to pick and chose very carefully. That can mean some hurt feelings when we are forced to deny entry to an applicant, but we want to showcase the very best of the best."

Spring Fever will once again be presenting a host of 'best of…' awards, rewarding quality workmanship, overall presentation and the uniqueness of each vehicle, with special consideration given to fit, function, flow and sense of balance.

"All of our exhibitors get along like family. But for some of the heavy-hitters, such as past champions, things can get a little edgy. When there's money on the line, there's definitely a rise in intensity," revealed Hill. "It's a friendly rivalry, but with the Best of Show car owner going home with $1,000 and the runner-up receiving $500, there is more than just bragging rights on the line."

Noting the difference between Tuner cars, which are performance-oriented vehicles, and the Modifieds that combine both 'show and go,' Hill offers that Motorama show visitors will be treated to a wide assortment of incredible vehicles.

"We will have everything on the floor from traditional Japanese Tuners, to luxury cars, Modified trucks and some really rare custom builds. Everything from sleek and cool to loud and outrageous."
