Whatever the stage, a weekly short track racer will never forget their first career main event win.
After advancing through the Outlaw Midget ranks, Wally Wilson scored a pair of OSCAAR Modified feature victories during last year's schedule. It may have taken him a while, but the 27-year-old racer from Owen Sound, Ontario is hoping for another strong season when his next campaign takes its first green flag.
"Being able to finally park it in victory lane was a great experience and I'm very thankful to everyone who helped to make it happen," explained Wally Wilson. "The fans, family members and friends who've supported me over the years don't get enough credit for the team's success. It was great to celebrate both victories with so many wonderful people and I can't wait to meet them all in the winner's circle again."
Heading into an ambitious 2025 schedule, Wally Wilson and his team face an itinerary that could see them log as many miles on the provincial highways as their laps on the racetrack. From his Grey Bruce home base, he'll kick-off the year with a Saturday, May 17th date in his No. 69 Mod at Sunset Speedway and follow it up with the Friday, May 23rd season-opener at Delaware Speedway, near London, Ontario. After finishing 4th in last year's standings, Wilson will once again follow the OSCAAR Modified Series events, starting Saturday, May 31st at Flamboro Speedway.
"It looks like our team will be doing a lot of racing this year and it wouldn't be possible without the crew that keeps everything together," said Wally Wilson. "Nate, Paul and I log some long hours in the shop and at the track and I'm thankful to them for all the hard work, time and effort it takes to get the car to the track and make every show."
Wally Wilson and the No. 69 crew would like to thank Fyre Place & Patio Shop, www.have1.com and Napoleon for being part of the team's program heading into the 2025 season. Like most teams on the provincial motorsports landscape, Wally Wilson Racing is actively seeking additional sponsorship support for its efforts.
