SPORTSMAN QUEBEC LUCAS OIL ET MINI SPORTSMAN QUEBEC: UNE PREMIÈRE SORTIE

C'est ce dimanche, 17 mai 2015 que s'est déroulé le premier programme de la saison des séries Sportsman Québec Lucas Oil et Mini Sportsman Québec.
Pour cette première, c'est 22 voitures sportsman et 13 voitures mini sportsman qui ont répondu à l'appel.





Les séances de qualification ont été remportées par le #67 Dominic Jacques, le #33 Philippe Poulin et le 40 Sylvain Labbé.

Pour ce programme, on retrouvait parmi le groupe de pilotes 6 recrues. Le #21 Éric Cloutier de St-Georges commandité principalement par Garage Guy Jacques a réussi le meilleur résultat en qualification avec sa 4e place tandis que le # 95 Mickaël Isabel de Shannon commandité principalement par Garage Gilles Hamel a terminé première recrue avec sa 10e place en finale.

Le #16 Rock Poulin de la Guadeloupe, commandité principalement par Amusements Rock avait annoncé son retour quelques semaines seulement avant le début de la saison. Au grand plaisir des spectateurs, ce vétéran, présent avec la série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil depuis le tout début,  a offert aux spectateurs présents une course à la hauteur de son expérience. Subissant de fortes pressions de la part des autres meneurs, il a dû garder son calme ce qui l'a mené sur la première marche du podium.

Le #25 Pier-Luc Labbé qui  avait connu une excellente fin de saison l'an dernier a continué son ascension. Avec une deuxième place en qualification et une 2e place en finale, Pier-Luc Labbé de St-Joseph, commandité principalement par Société Louis Jacques, a fait preuve de patience et de discipline lui qui avait débuté la finale en 6e position. Assurément un pilote à surveiller pour le championnat.

Le #17 Jimmy Nadeau de Beauceville a franchi la ligne d'arrivée en 3e position. Commandité principalement par Lucas Oil, Nadeau qui compte le plus grand nombre de courses dans la série Sportsman Qc a su garder sa place devant quelques pilotes plus indisciplinés ce qui lui a valu ce podium.

D'autres performances à souligner
D'autres belles performances sont à souligner lors du programme d'hier avec entre autres le #4 Stéphane Fournier qui en terminant 7e débute la saison avec un top 10 ainsi que le #41 Samuel Charland qui effectuant un retour cette année en Sportsman Qc a terminé au 9e rang de la finale sur 22 voitures.

Qu'en est-il de nos Mini Sportsman
Dès la séance de pratique, les officiels de la série ont pu constater une inégalité frappante entre la classe développement et élite. Se voulant une classe de développement qui se doit d'être sécuritaire pour tous les jeunes pilotes, la décision a été prise de faire deux courses distinctes pour chacune des classes. Une décision qui aura fait le bonheur de nos jeunes pilotes tant en développement qu'en élite et qui aura permis d'offrir un bon spectacle. En développement, c'est le #88 Thomas Côté commandité principalement par Métalico qui remporte la première victoire de l'année suivi de près du #7 Wylliam Perron commandité principalement par Eau Service et de la #8 Victoria Bélanger commanditée principalement par Posimage.

En ce qui concerne les pilotes de la classe Élite, on a pu voir sur la première marche du podium de la première course, pour une deuxième année consécutive le #46 Tommy Simoneau. Le jeune pilote commandité principalement par M.A Construction a su  défendre sa place devant les autres meneurs. On retrouve en deuxième position le #13 Samuel Boyer commandité principalement par Stéphane Bernard Mini Excavation et pour finaliser le podium le #38 Mathieu Goulet commandité principalement par Remorquage Goulet.

Prochain programme pour les Sportsman Québec le samedi 30 mai prochain alors que nous pourrons voir une course avec deux fois 50 tours en position inversée. De l'adrénaline à son meilleur!

Ouverture de la saison 2015 ACT Québec


Dimanche dernier, 29 voitures étaient présentes pour la première course du Championnat ACT Québec, à Plattsburgh.


Ce fût difficile pour les pilotes Québécois en pratique et en qualification. Seuls, Patrick Laperle (#91Qc),  Jean-François Déry (#21Qc) et Karl Allard (#48Qc) ont bien figuré dans leurs  qualifications.


Pour ce qui est de Karl Allard, il est venu remplacer Alex Labbé qui était inscrit au volant de Nascar Canadian Tire dimanche. Malheureusement pour  Labbé, le champion ACT 2014, il n'a pu prendre part à la course Nascar puisqu'il s'est disloqué le genou 15 minutes avant l'épreuve.

Du côté américain, plusieurs ''top gun'' y étaient : Joey Pole, Brian Hoar, Wayne Helliwell Jr., Nick Sweet pour ne nommer que ceux là.


Partant sur la première ligne, Travis Stearn (#16Me)  a réussi à rester  dans le peloton de tête toute la course et a terminé sur la troisième marche du podium.

Jimmy Hébert (# 58Vt) a vu son moteur rendre l'âme au 42ième tour, alors que Joey Pole était en position de commande.


Dès la relance, nous assistons à une chaude lutte pour la première position entre les deux talentueux pilotes, Joey Pole et Patrick Laperle.  Laperle, parti de la 5ième position, a pris la tête à la relance au 45ième tour devant Joey Pole (#97Nh). Mais celui-ci (Pole) reprend la tête au 82ième tour et gardera cette position jusqu'à la fin. Il termine devant Patrick Laperle et Travis Stearn.

Jean-François Déry a quant à lui, fait une très belle course en terminant 5ième  derrière Bobby Therrien (#5Vt) mais devant Helliwell Jr (#27Nh)  et Hoar (#37Vt).


Martin Goulet Jr.( #83Qc) a eu des problèmes d'ignition lors du départ, Jonathan Bouvrette (#41Qc)  et Charles Harvey (#77Qc) ont été impliqué dans des accrochages. Pendant que Patrick Cliche (#5Qc), Claude Leclerc (#11Qc), Gaétan Gaudreau (#38Qc) et Karl Allard (48Qc) ont eux leurs ennuis et  n'ont pu être menaçants.


La série ACT Québec propulsée par Carbopoxy® de Techniseal® se déplace le weekend prochain, le 23 mai à l'autodrome St-Eustache.

Pour débuter la 65e saison de l'Autodrome Drummond, on poursuit la tradition avec la soirée découverte tout en y ajoutant une nouveauté : la course ''Marche ou Crève'' en modifié.


Comme l'an passé on y présentera des courses de qualifications dans chacune des 5 catégories au programme. Par la suite il y aura démonstration de finale de 20 tours du côté de la série Lightning-Sprint, Mod-lite et Semi-pro Open. Pour ce qui est de la catégorie Sportsman et Modifié, ils seront en action pour 25 tours. 


Si on reste du côté de la catégorie Modifié, on reprendra la course ''Marche ou Crève'' qui n'a pu être présenté à la fin de la dernière saison. Pour cette dernière la formule est fort simple, le top-10 du classement 2014 participera à l'épreuve. On va amener le champion 2014, Steve Bernard devant l'estrade et le reste du top-10 dans le centre de la piste. Bernard choisit son adversaire pour une épreuve de 2 tours, le vainqueur poursuit son chemin en choisissant son adversaire ainsi que sa ligne de course, soit intérieure ou extérieure pour le départ et le perdant est éliminé! On poursuit ainsi jusqu'à ce qu'il reste 1 seul pilote.  Le gagnant met la main sur la somme de 500$.


Cette soirée met la table pour l'ouverture officielle du 30 mai. L'an dernier, il y avait plus de 100 voitures dans les puits alors on peut s'attendre encore une fois à un spectacle enlevant et très apprécié des milliers de spectateurs présents qui n'auront qu'a déboursé la modique somme de 14$ pour assister au programme.

Ouverture saison NASCAR 2015 à l'Autodrome St-Eustache

Enfin nous y sommes; c'est ce samedi 23 mai qu'aura lieu l'ouverture officielle de la saison NASCAR de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Un spectacle de premier plan attend les spectateurs qui se rendront au complexe sport motorisé #1 au Québec. L'action sera assurément au rendez-vous avec 6 divisions en piste lors de cette soirée présentée par Vision Enviro Progressive.

NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil

Plus d'une vingtaine de compétiteurs seront en piste pour une grande finale de 50 tours, mettant en vedette de nombreux vétérans de la trempe des Lacombe #03, Lagacé #3 et Bougie #05 pour ne nommer que ceux-ci. Également de la partie, une pléiade de nouveaux venus qui convoiteront le titre de recrue NASCAR de l'année. Parmi ceux-ci, mentionnons les Gagnon #7, Mayer #18, Prud'homme #33 et le retour officiel à la compétition d'André Sylvain #4jr, pilote bien connu des amateurs dans les années 90/2000 à l'ASE et qui sera éligible au fameux titre. Avant même le premier drapeau vert, on présume que le champion des 2 dernières saisons, Jean-François Bouvrette #38, aura beaucoup de pain sur la planche pour la défense de son titre.

NASCAR Légende Modifiée

Est-ce que le sextuple champion Stéphane Aubin #26 de Boisbriand sera de retour en 2015? Ce dernier a confirmé qu'il se consacrait au championnat NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil pour la prochaine saison. Toutefois à pareil date l'an dernier, celui-ci tenait les mêmes propos, avant de récolter son 6e championnat Légende Modifiée en fin de saison, un 1er sous la bannière NASCAR. Assisterons-nous enfin à la consécration de Stéphane Caron #99 de Laval, lui qui a côtoyé les grands honneurs de bien près ces dernières années sans toutefois réussir à capitaliser. Un pilote qui sera assurément à surveiller cette saison, François Verville #56 de St-Jérôme, qui fût proclamé révélation de l'année 2014 de l'Autodrome St-Eustache avec notamment le titre de recrue de l'année dans sa division et une forte progression tout au long de la dernière saison.

NASCAR Sport Compacte MRQ

Le départ du double champion, Patrick Boucher de Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, laisse la porte toute grande ouverte à de bons jeunes pilotes qui lui ont fait la vie dure lors des dernières saisons. Yannick Miron #90 de Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Yannick Thibeault #72 de Delson et Maxime Gauvreau #95 de Terrebonne, sont les premiers noms qui nous viennent en tête comme digne successeur au trône laissé vacant par Boucher. Toutefois, il leur faudra se méfier du vieux renard de la série, Stéphane Gauvreau #68 de St-Joseph-du-Lac. Le vétéran de la série aimerait bien amener sa Ford Probe plus souvent dans le cercle des vainqueurs en 2015.

Challenge 4 Meilleur Ramoneur

Assisterons-nous au jour de la marmotte dans cette division, alors que l'an dernier, Pierre Duguay #31 de Deux-Montagnes et Guillaume Dinelle #03 de St-Colomban se sont échangés la 1ere position du championnat tout au long de la saison. Au final, le vétéran Pierre Duguay eu l'avantage et avait pu enfin savourer son 1er titre dans cette série après plusieurs années d'effort. Plusieurs excellents pilotes pourraient venir brouiller les cartes, et la revanche de Dinelle sera des plus ardue pour ravir le titre à Duguay.

358 Modifié

La saison dernière, les amateurs ont eu droit à quelques présences de ces montres mécanique, et cette année, l'ASE tente de relancer cette division qui fût abandonné par quelques autres circuits du nord des USA. Un bon nombre de pilotes devraient être au rendez-vous pour les 10 événements prévus au calendrier 2015. Les rugissements et les manœuvres spectaculaires de ces bolides sauront tenir les spectateurs en haleine et sur le bout de leur siège. Un pilote à surveiller sera Chris Cayea #18 de Mooers NY, avec une nouvelle voiture pour 2015 et des essais plus que concluants le week-end dernier à l'ASE.

Série ACT

Les pilotes de la Série ACT-Québec en seront à leur première présence en sol québécois alors que leur saison a débuté le week-end dernier du côté de Plattsburgh NY. Quelques pilotes de la région seront en piste, notamment les Jonathan Bouvrette #41 de Blainville, Martin Goulet Jr #83 de Mascouche, Dave Coursol #17 de St-Jérôme et Patrick Boucher #96 de Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac pour ne nommer que ceux-ci. Une finale de 100 tours est prévue en conclusion de cette soirée d'ouverture.

Une super soirée d'ouverture à ne pas manquer pour tous les amateurs ce samedi 23 mai à l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Les puits ouvriront à midi pour les compétiteurs et les gradins seront accessibles au public dès 14h00. Les qualifications débuteront sur le coup de 17h15 et les finales auront lieu à partir de 18h45. Le tarif en admission générale est fixé à 30,00 $ pour les adultes, 15,00 $ pour les 13-17 ans et est gratuit pour les 12 ans et moins. L'admission aux paddocks est quant à elle fixée à 35,00 $ pour tous.

Plattsburgh, NY—Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarczyk Jr. came out on top of a battle with St-Denis, QC's Patrick Laperle to win the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Spring Green 115 at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on Sunday.

 

Defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion "Joey Pole" took the lead from Laperle on lap 82 and led the rest of the way in the ACT U.S. and Série ACT combination event. Pole had lost the top spot to Laperle on a lap 44 restart, but stalked him for nearly 40 laps and eventually came away with his second win of the season and second straight ACT victory at Airborne.

 

"Anytime you have to battle Patrick, it's tough," Pole said. "He races me with so much respect and I try to give him the same. He got me on that restart on lap 44, and it was definitely nerve-wracking trying to get back by him…we got it inch by inch and kept working the inside and were finally able to get by."

 

Bristol, VT's Josh Masterson started on the pole and pulled away early as Pole got locked into a battle with Travis Stearns for second. Pole eventually cleared Stearns and reeled in Masterson, taking the lead for the first time on lap 25.

 

A trio of caution flags from laps 42 to 44 allowed defending ACT International winner Laperle to draw up to Pole, and the multi-time ACT champion got the jump off the outside on the race's third and final restart. Pole dropped back a few car lengths initially, but then ran in Laperle's shadow, looking first high and then low as the two drew away from the field.

 

Pole finally got underneath Laperle with 34 laps remaining. Although Laperle was able to close back in as they worked lapped traffic, Pole ran away in open race track in the final laps to take the win.

 

Laperle settled for second, with Stearns earning his first podium finish of the year in third. Bobby Therrien came in fourth, followed by Quebec's Jean-Francois Dery in fifth. Wayne Helliwell Jr., Brian Hoar, Rowland Robinson Jr., Nick Sweet, and Jeff White completed the top-10.

 

The ACT Tour next heads to Speedway 51 in Groveton, NH on Saturday, May 30 for the Lil Joey Memorial/Generation Next 151. Post time for the track's season opener is 5:30pm. ACT returns to Airborne on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 for the 3rd Annual ACT International 500. Both the ACT Late Models and the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models will run $10,000-to-win, 200-lap events as part of the doubleheader.

Gonyo dominates Modified feature; Terry, O'Neil grab wins

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Joey Polewarczyk Jr. continued his mastery of Airborne Park Speedway on Sunday, May 17 with a convincing victory in the American-Canadian Tour's Bill McBride Chevrolet Spring Green presented by Interstate Batteries. The race, postponed one day by inclement weather, was worth the wait as the Hudson, NH driver put on a show at the front of the field with Patrick Laperle.

The pair battled for the majority of the 115-lap race and traded the lead three times. Polewarczyk dogged his St-Denis, QC rival and made the winning move at lap 82, then pulled away in the final circuits for his fourth ACT win at Airborne since October 2011. Laperle settled for second and was the highest finishing Canadian; in addition to being the fourth event of the U.S.-based ACT Late Model Tour schedule, the Spring Green opened the championship schedule for the Québec-based Série ACT as well as the Québec Triple Crown Series at Airborne.

Travis Stearns of Auburn, ME won a long battle with Airborne opening night Ground Round Late Model division Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, VT for third place. Jean-François Déry of Québec City was fifth. Wayne Helliwell Jr. finished sixth, followed by Brian Hoar, Rowland Robinson Jr., Nick Sweet, and Jeff White.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere was also in action with three divisions. Leon Gonyo dominated the 35-lap feature for the J&S Steel Modified division to take his first victory of the season. The race ran flag-to-flag without a caution period, allowing the Chazy, NY veteran to stretch out to a comfortable lead and cruise to the win.

Jamie LaFountain had a strong run in second place end early as his car overheated, making way for an airtight battle between Codie Aubin and Jason Durgan. Hometown driver Aubin beat Durgan in a drag race off the final corner for the runner-up position. Greg Atkins came through traffic at mid-race to finish fourth, and Vince Quenneville Jr. held off Nick Heywood and Bucko Branham for fifth place. Rookies Danny Sullivan and Timex Morgan came from deep in the field to finish eighth and ninth, respectively, and Jayson Criss completed the top 10.

Atkins took over the lead in the Yandow Sales & Service/John Deere "Spring Championship Series" after the third of seven races. Heywood trails by just two points, 153-151, with Quenneville, Durgan, and Gonyo close behind. The next event is at Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT on Saturday, May 23.

The Key R-D Trailer Sales Renegade feature was the wildest race of the day with three late-race cautions and several lead changes. Josh Terry of Essex, NY won after a long battle with Brent Jarvis and a final-lap surge from Shawn Duquette. Morrisonville, NY veteran Duquette finished second; Jarvis crossed the line in third place but failed post-race inspection with an unapproved transmission part. Richie Turner, from 17thstarting position, inherited the final podium spot followed by Zack Daniels and Robert Gordon.

Dale O'Neil of Mooers, NY continued a strong start to his season by winning the 15-lap feature for the Busch Beer Mini-Modifieds; he also won a main event at Devil's Bowl Speedway on May 9. Kris Clark was stripped of his apparent runner-up finish in the inspection line for too much wheel camber. Chris LaVair moved up into second place ahead of Pete Blaney, Tim LaFountain, and Tyler Irwin.

Airborne Park Speedway returns to action on Saturday night, May 30 as Casella and Morrisonville Septic present double features for the Modified division and a 50-lap Enduro event. The Renegades and Mini-Modifieds will also run under the lights. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for children age 12 and under; racing will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Set to Tackle Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval

Following a 3 week break in the schedule, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – returns to action for the second event of the season – Saturday, May 23rd – at Peterborough Speedway. It will be the first of the year's scheduled events for the series on the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.

 

The popular open wheeled racing tour continues to gain the attention of fans and race teams for its exciting brand of affordable, wheel-to-wheel action. Series spokesperson Randy Hollingsworth says everyone is anticipating the solid runs on the 2015 calendar.

 

"From humble beginnings just a few short years ago, we're making great strides at each and every event," said Hollingsworth, who along with Richard Warnes and Bill Pickford comprise the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series team of officials. "Our numbers are strong, with new drivers coming on-board every season and the crowds are seeing some exciting racing, which always helps create some enthusiasm for what we're doing."

 

With 16 different teams signing-in for the first event on this year's calendar, chasing the checkered flag could be an arduous task. Donny Beatty made his first career OMRS start and says he had a great time behind the wheel of the new ride. The Beaverton, Ontario veteran – a former Kawartha and Peterborough Speedway Thunder Car track champion – is one of a handful of drivers in the running for the Rookie of the Year award.

 

"I had a great night and enjoyed the chance to get the feel of this new, powerful machine," said Beatty. "These cars are so smooth, fun to drive and handle great. My job is to maintain the cars in the shop and drive the wheels off them at the track. I need to thank my car owner Rob James for the chance to get behind the wheel of a fantastic racecar. I'm living every racers dream. He and his wife Darlene are great people, who love racing. Thanks as well to my wife Linda for supporting me all these years and to Stu Robinson for his help at the track and behind the scenes. It's going to be a great season."

INEX Ontario Legends Series Opens the 2015 Season at Peterborough Speedway

With close to 20 teams signed-in pit side, the INEX Ontario Legends Series made its first start of the year – Saturday, May 16th – on Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

 

In the final feature event of the night, the INEX Ontario Legends Series came from the staging area for a 25 lapper with Bill Mason and Cole Ledson in charge of the field. Before a single lap had been completed, the pace was slowed for a 3 car incident in the 4th turn. All involved cars were able to continue. After a few attempts at restarting the show were aborted, things settled down nicely as Brian Saunders took control of the pace, with teammate Kevin Foisy on his tail. Nicholas Ledson climbed his way to 3rd, with his brother Cole running a position behind with less than 10 circuits remaining. The scoreboard showed 17 complete, when Bailey Brown and Willy Howells came together on the front stretch. Saunders kept Foisy at bay for the first main event victory of 2015. Nicholas Ledson, Cole Ledson and Brandon Thurlby completed the top 5. 

 

Bill Mason, Terry McClelland, Jamie Riberdy, Michael Glaze, Bailey Brown, Robin Jongen, Cole McFadden, Jamie MacArthur, Don Arnott, Willy Howells, Robert Richardson, Fred Jordan, Duane Cinnamon and Mark Griffin rounded-out the Ontario Legends main event finishing order.

 

The night's first qualifying round went to Kevin Foisy, with Cole Ledson, Bailey Brown, Terry McClelland and Robin Jongen completing the top 5. Two time defending series champion Nicholas Ledson claimed the second heat, over Brian Saunders, Bill Mason, Jamie Riberdy and Brandon Thurlby. Cole Ledson grabbed the 3rd preliminary, with Foisy, McClelland, Jongen and Brown finishing 2nd through 5th. Brian Saunders, Nicholas Ledson, Mason, Riberdy and Thurlby were the top 5 finishers in the 4th and final Ontario Legends qualifier.
