PASS South Title Contenders Prepare For Orange County Return

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 8) – As Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model racers from across the Carolinas prepare for the series long awaited return to Orange County Speedway on Saturday, March 25th, a great championship battle is heating up following the first two races of the season.  Heading into the upcoming "Original" Orange Blossom Special, points leader Bradley McCaskill and former PASS South champions, Matt Craig and Tate Fogleman, are only separated by two points.  As a matter of fact, the top 11 drivers in points only have 42 points between them.

            Following his recent win in the Dogwood 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park, Matt Craig looks forward to the next stop for a number of reasons, including the opportunity to get a guaranteed starting spot in the 44thAnnual Oxford 250 with a win and a shot at the $25,000 top prize come last weekend in August.

            "It was good to win with the new style Hamke car and be the first one to win with it," says Craig.  "We broke something at Dillon and we just nursed it to the finish, so we know we have good speed."

            After a tight battle throughout the season in 2016 with Kodie Conner, Craig was able to prevail and capture the championship.  But, he knows it will be no easy task to become the first two-time winner of the South's oldest Super Late Model championship.

            "Getting the PASS South championship was a big boost of confidence for all of us, but it's a new year and we want more trophies," said Craig.  "I hope that us, the 18 [McCaskill], Fogleman, Conner, and the 29 [Spencer Davis] can go at it all year and make it a good show, but we plan to run this well the whole season in PASS."

            In addition to the PASS South championship, the Orange Blossom Special will serve as the second race of the PASS National Championship Series.  4-time PASS National champion, Ben Rowe, is in contention once again, along with Davis, McCaskill, Sarah Cornett-Ching, and Fogleman, and fellow New Englanders Dave Farrington, Jr. and Derek Griffith.

Action gets under way on Friday, March 24 for the "Original" Orange Blossom Special with rotating practice from 3 – 6 PMfor the PASS Super Late Models, Southern Modified Racing Series Tour Mods, and USAC Eastern Midgets.  On Saturday, March 25, pit gates open at 11 AM, with rotating practice for from 1 – 3:30 PM, qualifying at 4 PM, the Pit Party at 5:45 PM and feature racing set to begin at 7 PM.

Entry forms for the Orange Blossom Special, along with the 44th Annual Oxford 250 and upcoming events at Thompson Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Oxford Plains Speedway and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  The 2017 license forms for the PASS Super Late Models are also available at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  Drivers purchasing licenses for the 2017 season will receive bonus points for each race they are pre-registered for and will also save money towards any events that they enter early.

"Let's Talk Racing!" show has made over 330,000 Facebook impressions since December

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The winter months are usually not much fun for stock car racing fans in the Northeast, but Devil's Bowl Speedway in snowy Vermont is changing that.  A weekly live talk show called "Let's Talk Racing!" – airing every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on Facebook's "Live" video platform – has kept fans and racers engaged in an upbeat, interactive program through positive use of social media.

Track promoter Mike Bruno and media director Justin St. Louis host the one-hour show on Devil's Bowl Speedway's official Facebook page.  Since debuting onDecember 15, "Let's Talk Racing!" has become a place to discuss news and information at the Rutland County facility, but the show has not been limited in its focus.  The hosts have a list of topics, but viewers are encouraged to have an active part in the show by posting questions and comments during the broadcast.  Several drivers have been guests, and a few episodes have been broadcast live on location from drivers' race shops and garages.  The planned guest for Thursday, March 9, is Lyle DeVore, promoter of Howard Commander's famed Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley Speedways in New York State.

The show is free to watch and participate in.  Production is extremely low-budget – no money has been spent to date, in fact – and the show is simply streamed via cell phone camera.  Through its first 12 weeks, "Let's Talk Racing!" has gathered an average weekly audience of nearly 3,000 unique viewers and well over 330,000 impressions on Facebook via shares, likes, and comments.

"I give Mike all the credit – the show was his idea," St. Louis said.  "I don't think either one of us expected it to take off as quickly as it has.  The viewers and the drivers have been a lot of fun and we plan to keep the show going in some form or another through the racing season this summer."

Bruno has been pleasantly surprised by the reach that the show has had.  "We've heard from viewers from all over the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, England, and Brazil.  It's pretty amazing to think about," Bruno said.  "It's not intended to be a Hollywood production; it's just a fun thing to do and it really has given us something to look forward to during the winter.  People watch to have a good time and to talk about something they love, whether they come to Devil's Bowl or not.  That was our only goal in the first place."

"Let's Talk Racing!" airs Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on Devil's Bowl Speedway's official Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway.  The track's NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season begins on Sunday, May 7 at 1:30 p.m. with the historic "Spring Green" event; weekly racing begins on Memorial Day weekend.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Mar. 8, 2017) –- NASCAR® drivers are packing a sense of adventure for their 2,000-mile journey west as NASCAR Goes West celebrates the sport's annual stretch of races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix Raceway and Auto Club Speedway.

 

Following an exciting season launch at Daytona and Atlanta, drivers will take in the sights and sounds of the West Coast in conjunction with Whistle Sports and popular social influencers, including Frisbee trick shot artist Brodie Smith, the Harlem Globetrotters and acrobatic fitness couple Austin and Julian.

NASCAR and Whistle Sports will share content leading up to each race weekend as Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ and NASCAR XFINITY Series™ drivers put their trick-shot skills to the test with Brodie Smith, play hoops with the Harlem Globetrotters, and work out with fitness experts Austin and Julian.

 

Additionally, popular Hispanic influencers Jay Mendoza and David Lopez will create videos from the race tracks, providing their followers with a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to experience a NASCAR race weekend live and in person.

The Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12 is the first of three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races that are part of NASCAR Goes West. The race will be followed by the Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on March 19, and the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on March 26.

 

All three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on FOX and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, with additional coverage on NASCAR.com. L'an dernier, le pilote québécois a connu sa meilleure saison dans la série NASCAR Pinty's en terminant au troisième rang du classement des pilotes malgré qu'il ait raté une course en début de saison. Il a inscrit trois victoires pour un total de cinq podiums en 11 départs.


Intronisé au Panthéon du sport motorisé canadien en 2015, Tagliani a participé à 45 courses en NASCAR Pinty's, récoltant cinq victoires et sept positions de tête. Il a terminé 17 fois dans le top cinq et 28 fois dans le top dix. Treize épreuves sont au calendrier de la saison 2017. Les pilotes parcourront le Canada de la Nouvelle-Écosse à l'Alberta avec un programme double en Saskatchewan et une course de première importance au Toronto Indy en juillet. De plus, ils seront l'attraction principale à la mi-août au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

2017 AIRBORNE PARK SPEEDWAY SCHEDULE




PLATTSBURGH- For the first time in twenty-six years, a full dirt racing schedule is slated for Airborne Park Speedway.

               The 2017 season will feature two premier events along with a number of other high quality racing series and events.

               The most anticipated for the season falls on Thursday, July 6, with the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Tour. The Mike Perrotte led series averaged 40 cars attempting to qualify for their events in 2016. Last season's champion, Matt Sheppard is back contending with SDS, including other top runners Tim Fuller, Danny Johnson and Brett Hearn. 

               Saturday, June 10 will be Empire Super Sprints night. Drivers from both the United States and Canada are expected for this event. Steve Poirier was last season's ESS champion.

               Opening day will be on May 6 with a 7 P.M. post time. The 358 Modifieds will run a regular distance event for $2,000 to win. Also scheduled will be the Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades and Mini Mods.

               Week number two will feature autograph night and the TUSA Mod Lites will be in town on May 20.

               The Memorial Day celebration will occur on May 27 with the Canadian Pro Stock Series as the special on the racing card. Regular racing divisions will be in action that night.

               Little League Night will be held on June 3. Two weeks later, the Rev Star Speed STR and Slingshot SR groups. Kids' Night will wrap up the month of June on the twenty-fourth.  

               The Fourth of July Celebration will occur on July 1 this season, with fireworks and special details to be announced later.

               Mid-Season Championships will be decided on July 8 for all regular racing divisions.

               The remainder of July will see Volunteer Fire & EMS night on July 15, a week off for the Clinton County Fair on July 22 and Legend's Night on July 29. The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour will be on hand for Legend's Night.

               August 5 is Law Enforcement Night, August 12 will have dump truck races, spectator races on August 19 and a Salute to Our Heroes (Military Night) will cap off the month.

               September 2 will be a Labor Day Special and the final point counting event for the 358 Modifieds and Sportsman Modifieds.

               The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series and a Sportsman special is scheduled for Sunday, September 10. The Rev Star Speed STR and Slingshot SR groups will be back again. More details on this event will follow.

               September 24 will be the Leon Gonyo Memorial 358 Modified Special plus the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. The Sportsman Series averaged 48 cars attempting to qualify for each event last season.

               The second annual Robin Branham Crash For Cancer Enduro will be on Saturday, September 30 with a rain date on Sunday. More details will be available for this event.

               The final event of the season will be the $20,000 Demolition Derby on October 14 and 15 at the Clinton County Fair Grounds.

               Regular season events will have a 7 P.M. post time and main gates will open at 5:30 for those races. Ticket prices for regular events will be $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-14 and $25 for a family of two adults and two children.

The Mr. DIRTcar Championship Road Rolls Through Brockville Ontario Speedway

Its an honour that has been bestowed on some of the most talented drivers in dirt track racing. Being named a Mr. DIRTcar Series champion is the crowning moment of a successful season in a highly competitive field. Since Tony Corcoran earned the first ever Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified title in 1983, several drivers with strong ties to Brockville Ontario Speedway have received the same award.

 

Doug Carlyle won in 1986 and Pat O'Brien's name went into the record books on 4 different occasions, to go along with his fist full of track championships at The BOS. 1989 was Laurent Ladouceur's turn, with Tim Fuller taking the prize in 1993 and 2003. Dale Planck also has a pair of Mr. DIRTcar titles, earning the prestigious award in 2009 and 2012. Steve Paine – who was the 2006 Big Block Modified champ at Brockville – captured the Mr. DIRTcar 358 crown in 1999 and 2002.

 

The Brockville Speedway connection to one of the DIRTcar Racing's most prestigious prizes continued in 2016, when Chris Raabe – who won the Sportsman Modified track championship in 2006 and 2008 and Mr. DIRTcar titles in 2008 and 2009 – captured the 358 Modified honours. Shane Pecore – who was the best of the Sportsman class in 2013 and 2014 – added another home track triumph and the Mr. DIRTcar prize to his resume last year. Even though the stats are hard to explain, track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says he's happy to see so many of the sport's award winners come from his facility.

 

"We've had very competitive fields in all of our weekly divisions over the years," Kirkland said. "And it isn't just our drivers who shine at the big events. Since its inception, different runners – including Dale Planck in 2009 and Erick Rudolph in 2013 – have been fortunate enough to clinch the Mr. DIRTcar Series championship here, during the Northeast Fall Nationals."

 

Kirkland says its also impressive to see the number of rookie of the year winners who've called the popular clay oval on Temperance Lake Road their home track over the years. Chris Herbison was the top Sportsman Modified freshman in 2006 and won track championships in 2011 and 2012. Matt Billings – Brockville's Sportsman track champion in 2009 – was named DIRTcar Big Block rookie of the year for 2013. In the 358 Modified ranks, names like Randy Ritskes, Laurent Ladouceur, Chris Jones, Todd Stewart, Luke Whitteker, Chris Raabe and Ryan Arbuthnot captured the same prize. Lee Gill was the top first year small blocker in 1994 and claimed 5 track championships; including a streak of 4 straight from 2000 to 2003.

 

The list doesn't end there. Tim McCreadie was a Brockville 358 rookie in 1996 and claimed the Big Block prize a year later. Frankie Caprara mirrored T-Mac's performance in 1999 and 2001. Not to be outdone, Lance Willix made it a three-peat for the Empire State runners in 2006 and 2010.

TO PREMIERE AT SPEEDWAY 51 IN 2017

 







            Loads of exciting changes are happening at Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire in 2017, and two of the major changes include the additions of the all new Cyclone and Angel's division to the tracks lineup.

 

            The White Mountains Community College Cyclones will return to the track after many years absence as a regular division. The Cyclones were known as the Northeast Cyclones traveling group in 2016. The brainchild of Jean Leblanc and Doug Shannon has now become a track division. The Cyclones originally were started many years ago by Dick Therrien. This basically bone stock class with very limited changes except for safety, is a great division to get your feet wet in the sport of auto racing. Cyclone cars are very affordable to build and maintain, and most if not all parts can be found in most junkyards. The affordability is what attracts so many people to this type of racing as well as the fact that Cyclones do not race every week.

 

            The Angels class will feed directly off the Cyclone division, as this Ladies class will be able to use the same cars on the same night as the Cyclones. This is great for family racing as they can share a car with each other and earn a few dollars. The Angels use to be a very exciting class to watch as drivers like the names of Jennie Dion, the Brown sisters, Traci Nelson and a host of others kept the crowd on the edge of their seat. Hopefully some of these historic names will return to racing in 2017.

 

            Right now final touches are being done on the regular race schedule, go-karts, and the car show schedule. The 2017 racing season gets underway on Saturday, May 6th at 6pm. All Division drivers must have a DIRTcar License to participate and receive benefits

CONCORD, N.C. – March 2, 2017 – Starting with the first events of 2017, any participants of a DIRTcar-sanctioned event will be required to hold a DIRTcar Racing membership. Any division without a 100 percent membership participation will be at risk of violating the sanction agreement and suspension of the sanction by DIRTcar Racing.

A one-week temporary membership (for the traveling racer) will be accepted provided the driver completes the full application. However, temporary one-week memberships do not qualify for insurance and appeal benefits provided to full DIRTcar members.

The practice of a mandatory membership is common in sports, including motorsports, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the drivers and the point fund, rule book, official decisions and appeals.

DIRTcar members participate in state, regional and national divisional point funds for drivers and tracks; where in 2016, over $550,000.00 was distributed to members. Members also receive discounted entry fees and/or discounted pit entry fees at selected events.

One benefit that every driver hopes never to take advantage of is the $50,000 DIRTcar Member Benefit Supplemental Participant Accident Policy over a track supplied deductible of $15,000.

Boom Briggs, a Late Model Driver and DIRTcar Racing Member sustained an injury during the 2016 season that sidelined him for more than two months. A recent DirtonDirt.com article highlighted the benefits he received from his DIRTcar membership, and how happy he was to have had them.

"I got a check for $3,200 a couple weeks ago from [World Racing Group's] insurance company," said Briggs to DirtonDirt.com. "Thankfully my wife had good [health] insurance I'm under, but [the insurance from World Racing Group] took every out-of-pocket expense I had and paid it. They covered all my deductibles, all my co-pays, the emergency room, my therapies, I've had to pay zero [overall] because of that. I want that mentioned because I'm very, very thankful for that. That's why I'll always buy that DIRTcar UMP license… to qualify for that insurance."

            From the words of the legendary Darrell Waltrip, it's time to go racing at Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire. The Daytona 500 has come and gone and now it's time to dig those racecars out of the snow banks, gather up the crew in the garage, and get them racers ready for the pre-season car shows, and opening day set for Saturday, May 6, 2017.

 

            Excitement is at an all time high this year at Speedway 51 as many positive changes are taking place in the rulebooks, and the track operations. The all new North Country Ford Late Models will have a five race series this season with solid big buck purses. With a minimum of twenty cars, the winners share will be a minimum of $1,500 for 75 laps, or $2,000 for a 100 lap event. The purse will be solid throughout the field. The NC Ford Late Models will be on 9" Hoosier rubber this year, and they will be allowed to run bump stops on the cars. Bump stops help in adjusting the cars suspension. The total tire bill to run the full season is estimated at just $2,200. The NC Ford Series allow teams that don't want to race a full season to race a limited schedule, and spend a good amount of the summer with their families, and race at other venues if they would like.

 

            Interest is huge as well in the Limited Sportsman class, (Formerly known as Tiger Sportsman) as the free tire offer by Track owner, Joey Laquerre has this divisions racers buzzing throughout the entire racing community. Racers in this class run on used American Racer Late Model tires which can be collected from Late Model teams, or taken from Speedway 51's tire inventory free of charge. There is a $20 branding fee which goes directly into the drivers point fund. The winners share of the point fund is estimated to be close to $4,000.

 

            The highly competitive Street Stock class has very few if any new rules for 2017. They will be running on the same tire as rac4ed upon in 2016. The Daredevil division looks to be stronger than ever as several new youngsters will be in line to race this season. This will be the first year in many that the kids will not be racing for points. The Pepsi Pure Stocks will return as well in 2017. These six cylinder beauties will see some new faces for in the upcoming season.

 

            Two new divisions will roll onto the Speedway in 2017. First, the White Mountains Community College Cyclones will make their debut. This basically stock class will fit nicely into the tracks plans for 2017. Joining the Cyclones will be the return of the Angels, ladies division. They will be using the same type cars as the Cyclones and should be very entertaining.

 

            One new item that is mandatory for 2017 is the use of the Raceiver or a scanner. These devices are a one way communication device that allows the Race Director to communicate with the drivers. This will help with lineups, problems on the track, and the ability to diffuse any issues that need the Race Directors attention. Raceivers are on sale on-line at www.raceivers.com. They are just $99.95 and they also have packages with earbuds, etc available. Regular scanners are also allowed.

 

            We are presently working on the Car Show schedule, and that should be ready to announce in the next couple of weeks. Many sponsorship packages are available at various prices. WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The ground will shake in 2017 with a series of exciting, all-new motorsports events at Devil's Bowl Speedway.  The scenic Vermont facility has added a slate of new, high-adrenalin attractions for motorsports fans of all kinds, promising to bring a thrill to fans of all types of horsepower.  While weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series-sanctioned stock car racing continues on the asphalt oval on Saturday nights and on the dirt oval on Sunday nights, the new events will offer a different style of heart-pounding action.

Trucks and tractors will have a thundering presence at Devil's Bowl in 2017.  The inaugural "Rutland County Rumble" will be held on Saturday, May 13, as the region's top pulling tractors and trucks will be on hand for an intense display of power and torque.  The popular Altered Farm Tractor class will headline the program, and also chasing the "full pull" will be three truck divisions: Super Stock 4x4, 2.6 Pro Diesel, and 2.5 Diesel.

The pulling event begins at 12:00 noon on May 13, followed that same evening by a wild-and-crazy Demolition Derby – the first at Devil's Bowl Speedway in several years.  The hard-hitting smashfest is open to any 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder car and will see action through heats, consolations, and a $1,000-to-win feature event.

Truck & Tractor Pulls return on Saturday, July 8, at 12:00 noon, for a second earthshaking event with the same four classes.  The pulling show kicks off "Fast 'N' Dirty Weekend" which also features the New England Pro Truck Series in the "Fast 55" Saturday night on the Asphalt Track and the "Dirty 30" Sunday night on the Dirt Track.

Devil's Bowl is also revving up with another kind of straight-line speed at the brand new "Show & Go" Wednesday Night Drag Series.   The four-race series is old-school fun all the way: A 200-foot, two-lane drag strip will be set up on the frontstretch of the Asphalt Track with heads-up, double-elimination bracket races crowning winners in each class.  Trophies and bragging rights will be on the line on May 24, June 21, July 19, and August 23.

The drags are open to anyone with a valid driver's license, with no experience required.  Virtually any kind of motorized vehicle is welcome including cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, ATVs, and more; vehicles will be paired up with similar entries across a variety of racing brackets.  Pit passes will be just $10.00, plus a $10.00 registration fee per bracket for racers.  Grandstand admission is just $5.00 per person and free for kids age 12 and under.

Also on tap for the first time are the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience and the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience.  Fans can strap in and drive or ride along in real Late Models, Modifieds, and Sprint Cars following a morning training curse with professional instructors.  The Wallace Racing Experience will be at Devil's Bowl Speedway on the Asphalt Track on Saturday, August 26, and on the Dirt Track on Sunday, August 27; for more information, visit www.RaceWithRusty.com or www.DirtRaceWithKenny.com.
