ST. PIE, Quebec – Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished fifth in the ACT Late Model Tour Sanair150 at Sanair Super Speedway in St. Pie, Que., on Saturday, August 3. Hoar started on the outside of the front row and led a total of 28 laps in the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.comDodge Charger, but an aggressive setup and transmission woes combined to cost him valuable track position in the first half of the event. Following a mandatory mid-race pit stop, Hoar's car came back to life – though heavy rains conspired to cut the event short five laps from the finish and halt his march back toward the front of the field.

BRIAN, HOW WAS YOUR DAY?
We had a really good car. When they announced how they were going to run the 150 with a mandatory pit stop, we knew it was going to be run kind of like a two-segment race. We decided to try getting a little aggressive on the setup, but we went too far with it. We were just way too loose. By lap 35, I burned up the right rear and I was just trying to hang onto it. We started dropping back into the teens (in the running order).
When we came in for the break, they fixed the car up and tuned on it, and it was really good for the second part of the race. Unfortunately, we got ourselves in trouble with the bad track position and couldn't make it up. When the rain came with 10 laps to go, I was catching (fourth-place) but ran out of time to get there.
WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE TRANSMISSION?
I was leading on one of restarts under caution, and all of a sudden the transmission blew up and I lost second gear. All I had was third gear (for racing), but luckily it was all I needed there.
It actually wasn't too bad. When it first happened, it was just distracting. A little part of me heard some vibrating going on, and I waited for the whole transmission to blow up. It really was just a distraction at that point.
WERE YOU HAPPY WITH THE TOP-5 OR DISAPPOINTED NOT TO HAVE GOTTEN MORE?
I can't say we were happy. Usually when you have a car that loose (in the first half), you're happy just to keep it out of cement and finish. But now, when the car was that quick after we worked on it, we shot ourselves in the foot a little bit. It was disappointing. We all know we had a better car than fifth place, but it is what it is.
