Williams takes Sprint Car sweep; Duprey, Conroy, Wood are holiday winners

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Young Bobby Hackel is beginning to make a name for himself on the Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl Speedway, and on Sunday, July 3, he stole the show at the WhistlePig Whiskey "Firecracker" Independence Day Special by winning in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sportsman Modified action and by very nearly winning in the Sprint Cars of New England.

Twenty-one-year-old Hackel – a fourth-generation racer from Rensselaer, N.Y. – started 10th on the 22-car Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified field and wasted little time in getting to the front.  He was inside the top-five after just one lap, and passed Chris Murray for the lead on lap nine.

Moments after Hackel took control, the race took a sad and tragic turn.  Veteran driver Ron Casey of Manchester Center, Vt., was stricken by an apparent medical emergency and veered off the track before impacting the retaining wall in Turn 2.  He was transported via ambulance to Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt., where he passed away about three hours after the incident.  (A full statement regarding the situation is available at www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com.)

With one of the largest grandstand crowds in recent years on hand, the decision was made to continue the event.  A two-hour delay while waiting for Fair Haven Rescue to send a back-up ambulance was filled with a massive holiday fireworks show, and an on-track driver meet-and-greet session, and race fans remained upbeat and enthusiastic for the action to resume.

The fast, tacky track surface created wild action in the final 26 laps, with several crashes including flips by Vince Quenneville Jr. and Derrick McGrew; no injuries were reported in any of the crashes.  Hackel never wavered from the top spot despite repeated attempts from Middlebury, Vt., driver Justin Comes, who finished second.  Jackie Brown Jr. rebounded from a crash to finish third, followed by Tim LaDuc and Kenny Tremont Jr.  Tim Hodge, rookie Justin Severance, Jason Bruno, Justin Smith, and Billy Lussier completed the top 10.

Jake Williams of Center Tuftonboro, N.H., made it a clean sweep in his qualifying heat, the Dash for Cash, and the 30-lap feature for the Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE).  Williams had a dominant car for most of the night, but SCoNE rookie Hackel nearly upset his bid for the win.  After starting 19th, Hackel flew through the pack to pull alongside Williams in a battle for the lead in the final laps.  Williams was able to shake Hackel off, though, for his third career SCoNE tour win and his first at Devil's Bowl.

Hackel finished second ahead of early leader Tyler Austin, Chris Donnelly, and Luke Greenwood, who started 18th.  Dan Douville, Will Hull, Chad Turck, Richie Simmons, and Chris Clark finished sixth through tenth.  Kevin Chaffee escaped injury after flipping his car in the feature, and both Clay Dow and Lacey Hanson walked away from a spectacular two-car flip in qualifying.

Bill Duprey of Hydeville, Vt., was in a class of his own in the Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Renegade division, dominating both the qualifying heat and the 15-lap feature race.  Duprey was unchallenged during the night and led every lap that he ran on the track.  Curtis Condon was the runner-up in the feature, followed by rookie Brian Bishop Jr., Lou Gancarz, and Paul Braymer.

Chris Conroy of Newport, N.H., was a first-time Devil's Bowl winner in the Portland Glass Mini Stocks, taking the checkered flag in a 15-lap race.  Jason Porter of Freeport, Maine, led laps early and settled for second place.  Mike Ryan was third ahead of Wayland Childs and Robert Garney.  Mike Whalen Jr. was uninjured in a two-time flip during qualifying.

Defending Enduro Series champion Brett Wood of Georgia, Vt., took the lead at lap 14 of his division's 40-lap event and sailed to the victory.  Following a thorough scoring recheck, Wood's son, Zach – who won a rain-soaked race on the Asphalt Track at Devil's Bowl the previous night – finished second with Cory Gray third.  Brandon Gray was fourth with Ethan White fifth.  Karl Raacke walked away from a high-flying roll with his police-themed car, which included flashing blue lights.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action with the double-points Mid-Season Championship weekend on July 9-10.  The half-mile Asphalt Track races on Saturday, July 9, with the 3/10-mile Dirt Track running on Sunday, July 10.  Racing each night begins at 6:00 p.m. and includes a driver autograph session at intermission. Regular general admission each night is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for kids age 12 and under.

Le jeune prodigue de retour devant les siens





C'est lors d'une conférence de presse qui a eu lieu plus tôt aujourd'hui au Cosmos Grande Allée animé par Martin D'Anjou le président de Festidrag Castro que la nouvelle est sortie; Raphaël Lessard sera du programme Pro-Stock du 5 août prochain à l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction.

À bord de la voiture #99 FRL Express/Team Coach Imaging/Toyota/JBLAudio entouré de l'équipe de David Gilliland Racing, le jeune prodige de la course automobile sera ravir ses fans pour sa seule présence dans une voiture Super Late Model au Québec pour la saison 2016.  De plus, il a été annoncé lors de la conférence que le #57 Cole Timm, champion défendant de la série CARD SLM sera aussi présent pour l'invitation Pro-Stock.

Son parcours

C'est sur le tracé de Vallée-Jonction que Lessard fait ses débuts en 2013 dans la classe Amateur et ensuite, lors de la même saison, en classe Sport Compact Élite. Le jour de son 12e anniversaire, Raphaël remporte sa première victoire devant une assistance déjà conquise par le talent du jeune pilote.

Il poursuivra sa progression en 2014 dans la Série Sportsman Qc où il coursera auprès de son père François Lessard. Il terminera au second rang du championnat des recrues.

À la fin de la saison 2014, il fait ses premiers essais avec la série PASS. Bien qu'il ne se qualifie pas pour la finale, la qualité de pilotage dont il fait preuve et la maturité en piste du jeune pilote convainc ses parents de faire le saut et inscrivent Raphaël pour la saison 2015 au championnat PASS North.

Entouré d'une équipe québécoise, il fait ses débuts en avril 2015 où il se qualifie au premier programme PASS North de la saison sur le tracé d'Oxford Maine Speedway, et ce devant des pilotes d'expériences. Le point culminant de la carrière de Raphaël Lessard est sans aucun doute sa 6e position à la course PASS de l'Autodrome Chaudière au-devant du pilote NASCAR #11 Denny Hamelin. La bataille qu'il livre à la vedette Nascar fait la manchette de tous les médias au lendemain du programme.

Rapidement, Raphaël attire l'attention de Robert Desrosiers qui voit en lui le potentiel  d'évoluer dans le stock-car professionnel. Desrosiers devient l'agent responsable de la carrière de Raphaël et lui décroche 4 courses d'essaies avec l'équipe de David Gilliland Racing. Un choix difficile doit se faire; Raphaël devra quitter son équipe québécoise afin de poursuivre sa progression.

 

Si certains demeuraient encore septiques quant à son talent d'évoluer dans une série de haut niveau, Raphaël Lessard et l'équipe DRG feront rapidement leur preuve en remportant un premier podium en carrière en Pro Late Model lors du célèbre World Series 2016 sur le tracé de New Smyrna en Floride avec une excellente 3e position.

Si le début de saison était annonciateur de succès, on peut dire que l'équipe Raphaël Lessard Racing n'aura pas déçu. Le 7 mai 2016, sur le tracé d'Hictory Motor Speedway lors du programme CARS Tour HKY Soup Kitchen Race to End Hunger 250, Raphaël remporte sa première victoire en carrière en Super Late Model devenant le plus jeune victorieux de la série. Non seulement un rêve qui devient réalité pour lui, mais qui soulève l'engouement des amateurs et médias.

Au premier rang du classement de la série CARS, Raphaël Lessard cumule depuis le début de la saison 5 tops 5 avec la série dont cette victoire qui a fait de lui la sensation de l'heure; un des plus grands espoirs en course automobile au Québec.

MILITARY NIGHT AND AUTOGRAPH SESSION

HIGHLIGHTS SPEEDWAY 51 SATURDAY NIGHT PROGRAM

 

            Another great weekend of racing highlights the card at Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire this coming Saturday night, July 11th as the Track will honor all Military personal in uniform with a free general admission ticket. The night will also offer an autograph session at intermission.

 

            The night will feature Speedway 51's best racers as the North Country Ford Late Models, the Sign Depot Tigers, Pepsi /Schweppes Street Stocks, and the AB Excavating Daredevils will all be in action. The past few weeks have seen ultra competitive racing in all divisions with several races not decided until the final laps. Post time is 5:30pm.

 

            The point standings are also tight as we close in on the mid-season championships on July 23rd. Derek Ming leads the way in the North Country Ford Late Models as he 322 points. Mike Bailey is in second with 300 points followed by a tie between Shawn Swallow 289, and Brad Bushey at 289. Walt Hammond Jr. rounds out the top five with 255 points. Brendon Moodie leads the way in the Sign Depot Tigers with 355 points, but Joel Hodgdon is just five points back at 350 in second. Mike Giroux with 316, Aaron Smith 314, and Colby  Bourgeous at 310 complete the top five. Bunker Hodgdon sits atop the Pepsi/Schweppes Street Stocks standings with 362 points. Just sixteen points back is Jared Plumley with 346 points. Cody Smith rides third with 320 markers and Peyton Lamphear and Jaden Perry are fourth and fifth with 306 and 300 points respectively. Kasey Beattie and Garrett Labounty are knotted up at the top of the AB Excavating Daredevils with 395 points each. Evan Hallstrom is right on their back bumpers with 385 points, and Kyle Labounty has a two point edge over Josh Plumley 357-355 for the remaining top five spots.

Une fin de semaine parfaite pour Rémy Audette !

 


 

Boisbriand (Québec), le 3 juillet  2016.– Aux commandes de sa Honda Civic Si aux couleurs de Dimensions Portes & Fenêtres, Rémy Audette a récolté deux victoires ce week-end sur le Circuit ICAR à Mirabel, lors des courses du Championnat Touring Car canadien (CTCC). Seul pilote de l'équipe Audette Racing inscrit à cet événement, Rémy a connu le week-end parfait, récoltant en plus le meilleur temps lors des qualifications et le record du tour dans chacune des épreuves à l'horaire.

 

 

 

      

 

 

 

Disputées au Circuit ICAR à Mirabel, ces deux courses du Championnat Touring Car canadien (CTCC) étaient les premières en 2016 de Rémy Audette, qui ne prend part qu'à un programme très partiel dans la série cette année. Mais le pilote de l'équipe Audette Racing n'a pas manqué sa chance : « c'est une bonne fin de semaine. Non, en fait c'est la fin de semaine parfaite ! » a confié le pilote québécois, ancien champion de Formule 2000 aux États-Unis. Il résume ainsi la première course : « j'ai mené de bout en bout. J'ai vraiment poussé au maximum au début afin de me ménager une avance sur mes poursuivants et ça a très bien fonctionné. J'ai géré ma fin de course, je ne prenais plus aucun risque et, malgré cela, je croise le fil d'arrivée avec vingt-trois secondes d'avance sur le deuxième, c'est difficile d'espérer mieux ! ».

 

Après cette course parfaite samedi, Rémy Audette a connu un parcours un peu différent dimanche : « j'ai pris un bon départ, toujours depuis la pole position, mais l'Ontarien Scott Nicol est passé dans un trou de souris pour me ravir le premier rang au premier virage. Nous avons donc commencé une belle bataille qui a duré au moins cinq ou six tours, le temps pour moi de reprendre enfin la commande de l'épreuve » a indiqué le pilote Audette Racing. « Lorsque j'ai repris ma place en tête de la course, je savais que c'était gagné ! Mon avance au final est moins grande que la veille car la course a fini sous neutralisation en raison d'un accident plus loin dans le peloton, mais ça ne change rien à notre fiche parfaite » résume Rémy.

 

Deux courses disputées en 2016, deux victoires... Rémy Audette est évidemment ravi : « toute l'équipe a vraiment bien travaillé, la Honda Civic Si Dimensions Portes & Fenêtres a été fiable et performante du premier au dernier tour de piste. Je récolte le meilleur chrono aux qualifs, le record du tour dans les deux courses et la victoire dans les deux courses aussi. Que demander de plus ? » a conclu Rémy Audette.

 

Le prochain événement de Rémy Audette dans le série CTCC est fixé au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, du 12 au 14 août prochain. Ce sera également la seule fois dans la saison que les trois pilotes de l'équipe Audette Racing seront en piste en même temps cette saison. Outre Rémy, son frère aîné Mathieu (Acura RSX) et son père François (Porsche Cayman) disputeront l'événement.

Ranger Returns To Front At ICAR

Scores Fourth Win On Quebec Road Course, Takes NASCAR Pinty's Series Lead

 

MIRABEL, QUEBEC (July 3, 2016) – Not even a late-race caution could slow Andrew Ranger's return to Victory Lane at Circuit ICAR.

 

A year after coming up second on the 2.113-mile, 14-turn road course on the grounds of Montreal-Mirabel International Airport, Ranger dominated Sunday's Ecko Unlimited 100. It was the fourth win in six races at Circuit ICAR, and extended his NASCAR Pinty's Series career wins record to 22.

 

"It's almost a family here," Ranger said. "To win another race at home is fantastic."

 

Ranger's No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil/Mopar Express Lane Dodge led 29 of the 30 laps.

 

Alex Labbe, who won the E3 Spark Plug Pole Award in Saturday's qualifying, came home second and defending race winner Kevin Lacroix was third. DJ Kennington and Elie Arseneau were fourth and fifth, respectively.

 

With the victory, Ranger retook the championship points lead by six from teenager Cayden Lapcevich. Lapcevich, 16, finished eighth in his first race at ICAR. Labbe is third in points, a point behind Lapcevich.

 

The weekend didn't start out looking good for Ranger. The Roxton Pond, Quebec, driver posted the fastest time in the first practice Saturday morning, but suffered an engine issue that prompted him to miss the second practice as the team swapped motors. He qualified second behind Labbe, who broke Ranger's 2013 track record.

 

In last year's race, Ranger chased Lacroix the entire race, which ran green to checkered without a caution. It was the first race at ICAR that Ranger didn't lead at least a lap. He was determined this year not to let that happen again.

 

On the second lap Sunday, Labbe left the bottom open slightly going into the Turn 1 hairpin and Ranger pounced to take the lead.

 

Ranger ran easily out front until a yellow flag for debris on Lap 22. On the subsequent restart, though, Ranger powered back into the lead and finished .883 ahead of Labbe and more than seven seconds in front of Lacroix.

 

Alex Tagliani finished sixth after getting knocked back from third on the final restart. Gary Klutt, Lapcevich, JF Dumoulin and Patrick Dussault rounded out the top 10.

 

The Ecko Unlimited 100 will air on TSN4/5 on Sunday, July 10 at 1 p.m., and on RDS2 on Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series will return to action on Saturday, July 16 with the Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto as part of the 30th Toronto Honda Indy weekend.

Garrett LaBounty (76) beats Evan Hailstorm (1) for first career win


 

Groveton,NH- Schweppes Street Stock point leader Bunker Hodgdon (83) brought his car from the back in both 15 lap segments to win for the second straight week at Speedway 51. The Hardwick, VT native came from his 10th place starting position to finish third in the opening segment right in front of the returning Jason Kenison (03) who was back for the first time since his win a few weeks ago. The second segment saw both Hodgdon and Kenison make there way from the back. Hodgdon would eventually battle the Groveton, NH driver for the forth spot and what would decide the win. After a hard fought fight for position Hodgdonwould beat out Kenison for a one point win. The loss of position bumped Kenison into a three way tie for third where he would finish fifth after the tiebreaker. W.Burke, VT's Jesse Switser (25) finished second in a tie with Cody Smith (18) of St.Johnsbury, VT who finished third. Second place points man Jared Plumley (12) finished fourth respectively.



 

The North Country Ford Late Models finished their two segment event in a three way tie for the win. After a tough finish with the American Canadian Tour a few weeks ago, Windham, ME's Brad Babb (15) went to victory lane after winning segment 2. Mike "Beetle" Bailey (2) of S.Barre, VT ended up second overall after two third place finishes, while a disappointed Brad Bushey (57) watched himself drop from the overall win to third place after Derek Ming (5) was able to get around the Cambridge, VT driver in the final laps of the final segment. 

 

Craftsbury Common, VT's Joel Hodgdon (36vt) stole the show in the Sign Depot Tiger Sportsman division with a dominating performance that saw him finish first, second and first in the three segment event. For Hodgdon it was his second win of the season as he only trails Brendan Moodie(94) in the point standings. Fellow Craftsbury Common driver Mike Martin (01) finished second but perhaps the happiest man of the night was third place driver Bill Stebbins Jr. (07). It has been a long road to the podium for the Pittsburgh, NH native, in fact it's his first top three finish in the two seasons of Speedway 51 for the weekly driver who was sure to thank all his friends, family and sponsors for helping him every single week before suggesting to take the microphone away or he'll thank people all night. Point leader Brendan Moodie (94) and Aaron Smith (91) rounded out the top.

 

In another great site Saturday night young Garrett LaBounty (76) won his first career race in the A.B. Excavating Dare Devils as the driver from Irasburg, VT passed three cars on the outside to get to lead and held of a hard charging Evan Hallstrom (1vt) late to secure his trip to victory lane. Northfield, VT's Hallstrom would finish second, while the even younger Kyle LaBounty (80) got his first top 3 finish. Point leader Kasey Beattie (45) and Josh Plumley (12) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

A Perfect Weekend for Rémy Audette !

 


 

Boisbriand (Québec), July 3, 2016.– At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors & Windows Honda Civic Si, Rémy Audette earned two victories this weekend at Mirabel's Circuit ICAR, in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC). As the only Audette Racing Team driver entered in this event, Rémy had a perfect weekend, including the fastest time in qualifying and the lap record in each of the races on the program.

 

 

 

      

 

 

 

Held at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, these two Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) races were Rémy Audette's first in the 2016 season, as he will only be contesting a partial program in the series this year.  But the Audette Racing Team driver did not miss his chance : « it's a good weekend.  Actually, it's a perfect weekend ! » confided the Quebec driver, former American Formula 2000 champion.  He summarized the first race : « I led from start to finish.  I really pushed to my maximum at the beginning so I could build up a lead on those behind me and it worked really well.  I managed the rest of the race, without taking and risks and, despite that, I still crossed the finish line twenty-three seconds ahead of second place.  It's hard to ask for more than that ! ».

 

After this perfect race on Saturday, Rémy Audette had a bit of a different experience on Sunday : « I had a good start from pole position, but Ontarian Scott Nicol passed through a tiny mouse hole and took over the lead on the first turn.  We started a great battle that lasted at least five or six laps before I reclaimed top position » indicated the Audette Racing driver.  « Once I took back the lead of the race, I knew it was won ! The gap at the end was less than that of the day before but the race finished under a caution flag due to an accident further back in the pack.  It doesn't change our perfect weekend, though » continued Rémy.

 

Two races contested in 2016 resulting in two victories. Naturally, Rémy Audette is delighted : « the entire team worked really well, and the Dimensions Doors & Windows Honda Civic Si was reliable and competitive from the first lap to the last. I earned the fastest time in qualifying, the lap record in the two races, and the victory in each race as well.  What more can I ask for ? » concluded Rémy Audette.

 

The next CTCC event for Rémy Audette is set for the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, August 12th to 14th. This will also be the only time in the season that all three Audette Racing drivers will be on the track at the same time. In addition to Rémy, his older brother Mathieu (Acura RSX) and their father François (Porsche Cayman) will contest the event.

Deuxième place frustrante pour Alex Labbé en NASCAR Pinty's

 

Mirabel, QC, le 3 juillet 2016 - Alex Labbé a terminé 2e, à seulement 0,883s du gagnant, à bord de la Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque,  lors du ECKO 100 couru au circuit ICAR de Miralbel, après une chasse de tous les instants au fil des 30 tours de l'épreuve.

 

Parti de la pole et fort d'un nouveau record du tour en qualification, Alex Labbé a mené le premier tour puis  cédé la tête de course à Andrew Ranger à l'amorce du 2e tour. Les 20 tours qui suivirent ont vu le jeune pilote de St-Albert bien gérer sa course  : « Ma Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque marchait à merveille depuis le début de la course. Notre stratégie d'avant-course était de mener de fil en fil, mais cela a du changer avec Andrew (Ranger) devant moi. Je devais le suivre de près tout en ménageant mes pneus, puis attaquer fort à la fin, alors que ma voiture, j'en étais certain, serait toujours plus rapide que celle du leader. »

 

La nouvelle stratégie fonctionnait à merveille, avant qu'une neutralisation au 22e tour ne vienne gâter la sauce pour Labbé. La frustration d'Alex se voyait sur son visage après la course : « J'avais fermé l'écart avec Andrew à deux longueurs de voiture lorsque la drapeau jaune vint neutraliser la course. Lors de la relance au 29e tour, ma voiture était toujours un peu meilleure que celle d'Andrew, et je croyais encore pouvoir le doubler dans les 11 tours qui restaient à la course. » La relance fut pénible pour Alex : « On me poussa hors piste à la sortie du premier virage. J'ai réussi à conserver ma deuxième place mais l'aventure m'avait couté deux grosses secondes derrière le leader, et j'ai manqué de tours de piste pour revenir sur lui et le doubler. Une deuxième place est bonne pour la chasse au titre, mais tout de même frustrante alors que l'équipe technique de Dave Jacombs m'avais donné la meilleure voiture du peloton. »

 

Alex Labbé et la Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque reviendront en piste à Toronto le 16 juillet, dans le cadre de la Honda Indy Toronto, sur le circuit urbain du Toronto Exhibition Place.

Frustrating 2ND Place For Alex Labbé in NASCAR Pinty's Race 

 


 

Mirabel, QC, July 3, 2016 - Alex Labbé finished the 30-lap ECKO Unlimited 100 race a close second, just 0.883 sec adrift of the winner, aboard the No 32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque Ford. After starting from pole position and dropping to second place on the second lap, then stalking the eventual winner, an untimely late-race yellow flag period scuttled his efforts to regain the lead and win the race.

After setting a new track record in qualifying, Alex Labbé was looking for a win in the 30-lap sprint race on the 3.3 km road course. The young driver from St-Albert (QC) spent the next 20 laps managing his tires and planning his pass for the lead as the leader gradually weakened. Alex knew his plan would work: "My No 32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque Ford was perfect throughout the race, so I could manage my tires and make sure it was still the quickest car on the track late in the race."

 

The Can-AM team's race strategy was working perfectly until a yellow flag came out on lap 22, just as Alex was within two car lengths of the leader and setting up for the pass. The frustration was visible on Alex's face after the race: "I was within a lap or two of passing Andrew, so all that work to set up the pass went for naught. I was then bumped around on the lap-29 restart, protecting my second place but losing two seconds to the leader in the process. My car was still great, but with only 11 laps to go, I ran out of time to catch Andrew and get by him for the win. Second place was good for season points but not what the Can-Am team was looking for after Team Boss Dave Jacombs and his crew had given me the best car on the track."

 

Alex Labbé and his Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque No. 32 Ford will be back on track on July 16 as part of the Honda Indy Toronto event, held on the urban circuit at Toronto Exhibition Place.

Spectaculaire remontée et top-10 pour Patrick Dussault

Mirabel, Qc, le 3 juillet 2016 – Patrick Dussault a fait partie des pilotes les plus rapides de la série NASCAR Pinty's tout au long du week-end, lors du Ecko Unlimited 100 au Circuit ICAR de Mirabel. Après s'être qualifié parmi l'élite de la série, il a été forcé de revenir de l'arrière pour terminer parmi le top-10. 

Dussault, au volant de la voiture Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71, a fait tourner les projecteurs vers lui ce weekend. Lors de sa deuxième course seulement de sa carrière en stock-car, il a fait les 5e et 7e meilleurs temps de la séance d'essais et des qualifications. Malgré très peu d'expérience en stock-car, le pilote de 24 ans a été impressionnant et a beaucoup appris, même si la pluie a écourté la deuxième séance d'essais.

Septième sur la grille de départ de la course de 30 tours, Dussault s'est vu décerner une pénalité de passage aux puits pour être sorti de la ligne de course avant le départ. « J'étais à côté de la ligne et je n'ai pas pu y revenir. J'ai reçu cette pénalité qui m'a forcé à repartir loin à l'arrière du peloton. J'ai essayé de rester calme dans cette situation et de conduire intelligemment pour gagner des places sans être pris dans un accident », a-t-il expliqué.

Quand la première et seule neutralisation a eu lieu, au 21etour, il avait remonté jusqu'en 13e position sur 23 voitures. « Le drapeau jaune m'a aidé à réduire l'écart avec les compétiteurs devant moi », a indiqué le pilote de l'équipe PB Racing, fondée par l'ex-hockeyeur de la Ligne nationale de hockey et pilote Patrice Brisebois.

Patrick Dussault a finalement terminé en 10e place, son premier top-10 en NASCAR Pinty's. « Dans ce genre de situation, nous nous devons d'avoir une excellente voiture, et c'est ce que nous avions. J'ai été à l'aise dès que je suis arrivé ici. Mon équipe et mon chef d'équipe, Jonathan Côté, ont fait un excellent travail pour préparer ma voiture. Et surtout, nous avons prouvé à tout le monde que la voiture Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71 peut être très rapide », a ajouté Dussault.

Patrick Dussault et l'équipe PB Racing seront de retour en action à Toronto, les 15 et 16 juillet, pour la course NASCAR Pinty's présentée dans le cadre du Honda Indy.
