PASS Finalizes 2015 South Super Late Model And Pro Late Model Dates

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 24) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that the 2015 schedules have been finalized for both the PASS South Super Late Model and PASS Pro Late Model divisions.  With 15 dates confirmed, including a final event to be added in October, the PASS South Super Late Models will compete at 11 different venues in 4 states over the course of the 2015 season.

            "Due to some circumstances out of our control, we had to move a couple of dates around and wanted to get our schedule finalized as quickly as possible so our teams can start planning for next year," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We believe this is one of the strongest schedules we have ever put together and are excited about the possibilities 2015 presents for the South's top Super and Pro Late Models."

The PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models will now compete at both Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina and the Caraway Speedway in North Carolina twice each in 2015.  Anderson Motor Speedway will host both PASS divisions on Saturday, March 21, featuring a 150 lap event for the PASS South Super Late Models.  This is in addition to the previously announced Electric City 125 that will be held at Anderson on Friday night, June 19.

Caraway Speedway will once again host the PASS South Super Late Models on Saturday, November 7 for the always popular North-South Shootout, but the speedway will now host two PASS events for the first time since 2013.  The PASS South Super Late Models will be featured in the Piedmont Pride 150 on Saturday night, July 25, along with the PASS Pro Late Models as they return to Caraway Speedway.

PASS is currently in negotiations for an event on either Saturday, October 17 or Saturday, October 24.  Additional details will be coming soon once that event has been confirmed.

Look for schedules for the PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, PASS Sportsman to be released in the near future.

And, don't forget, the biggest short track race on asphalt has a new date in 2015.  The 42nd Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine will take the green on Sunday, August 30, 2015, paying $25,000 to the winner plus lap leader bonus money.

Waterbury, VT –Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) in Connecticut and the American Canadian Tour (ACT), based in Waterbury, VT have agreed that the 2015 ACT Championship Late Model stock car season will crown the ACT Champion at the famed Thompson World Series event on Saturday, October 17, 2015. ACT will join over 15 other divisions at TSMP in a year-end celebration for both fendered and open wheeled race cars.

 

Vice President and General Manager of ACT, Darla Hartt said, "We are delighted that Thompson has invited ACT to the dance! NASCAR Modifieds, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park's own Modifed and Late Model divisions, the Valenti Modified Racing Series, Mini Stocks, really, just about every kind of asphalt stock car division in New England is at Thompson's World Series. We are excited to show fans at TSMP an ACT Late Model 100 lap championship race."

 

The event is expected to draw teams and fans from all six New England states, New York and the Province of Quebec. The entry calls for thirty (30) starters. The super-fast 5/8ths mile oval at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park should fit the style of the ACT Late Model teams. The ACT Quebec Series races primarily on half-mile tracks, and US ACT teams have had lots of "long track" experience with numerous events at the Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY and the Devil's Bowl Speedway half-mile in West Haven, VT. The ACT annual visit to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the NASCAR Cup weekend in September has proven to be very competitive and exciting racing for fans. The local weekly Late Model teams that use the ACT rules at TSMP, Waterford and Seekonk are expected to join the ACT regulars.

 

"I'm a huge believer in the ACT program, and I'd like to thank Tom Curley for working with us to bring an American-Canadian Tour race to Thompson in 2015. We are honored to crown their 2015 Champion as part of our World Series. There are few organizations that could raise the caliber of this event, but ACT is chief among them.  Their Tour offers some of the finest fendered racing that this region - and the country - has to offer, and we look forward to having many of the Northeast's finest Late Model racers back at Thompson for the first time in nearly 23 years," said Josh Vanada, General Manager of the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

La Série Sportsman Québec tient sa première réunion

La Série Sportsman Québec tient sa première réunion


C'est ce samedi, 22 novembre qu'avait lieu au Méchoui International de St-Étienne, commanditaire de la Série, la première réunion en vue de la saison 2015 avec plus de 20 équipes présentes.


M. André Poulin en a profité pour faire la présentation de son équipe d'officiels pour la saison 2015. Trois nouveaux officiels joignent l'équipe pour la prochaine année. Maxime Bibeau qui gravite dans le monde du Stock Car depuis plusieurs années au départ comme équipiers, ensuite comme officiel entre autre dans la Série ACT LMS-Procam viendra en appui dans les puits et au niveau de la technique. Ensuite, s'ajoute à l'équipe Nathalie Doyon qui par son expérience au niveau du marquage sera un atout pour appuyer Karine Poirier au niveau du système My Laps. Et finalement, Gabriel Côté sera officiel de puits pour la Série Mini Sportsman en assistance à Charles Gingras.

Par la suite, M. Poulin a confirmé un changement au niveau du championnat des constructeurs avec le départ de DGR. Les pilotes auront jusqu'en mars prochain pour réitérer le choix de leur constructeur. Figure sur la liste; Mac Rod Shop, JASS Racing, PMR, Lavoie Racing et les Entreprises MP Roy. Les pilotes ont aussi la possibilité de s'inscrire comme indépendant.


En ce qui concerne l'inscription des pilotes pour la saison 2015, nous pouvons dès lors annoncer qu'il devrait y avoir 5 à 6 recrues en plus de 2 vétérans de retour. Les inscriptions finales se feront lors de la rencontre de mars.


Pour la saison 2015, la Série Sportsman Québec organise deux campagnes de financement. La première se tiendra le 10 janvier prochain chez Karting Extrême lors de la 2e édition du SAAS Race Wear de karting sur ovale. Les formulaires d'inscriptions sont disponible sur le site internet de la Série ainsi que directement chez Karting Extrême. Plusieurs pilotes Sportsman Québec ont confirmé leur présence; les places sont limités, faites vite !

 

De plus, la Série reprend la vente de billet pour la campagne de financement pour les équipes sur une base volontaire. Des prix très alléchants sont offerts à nouveau cette année tel qu'un voyage Nascar, 1 chalet pour 2 nuits à la Cache à Maxime, 1 chalet pour 2 nuits au Camping St-Félicien et plusieurs autres prix tout aussi intéressants. Ces billets au coût de 10$ seront disponibles auprès des équipes participantes. Le tirage se fera lors du Salon de l'Auto Sport de Québec.


Une précision est apportée par M. Poulin quant à la location de transpondeurs. Tous les pilotes participants à 3 courses et plus se doivent de se procurer un transpondeur et non utiliser ceux de dépannage de la Série. Ils sont disponibles entre autre chez les Entreprises MP Roy ainsi que chez DGR.

Suite à une rencontre qui s'est tenue avec les dirigeants de la Série ainsi que les 3 représentants des pilotes, la suspension indéterminée du #07 Jonathan Côté a été levée. Sous probation, il pourra effectuer un retour avec la Série Sportsman Québec pour la saison 2015.


M. Sylvain Doyon et André Poulin ont présentés aux pilotes et équipiers présents les changements tant au niveau des procédures de courses qu'au niveau des règlements techniques. Le tout sera disponible sur le site internet de la Série et directement envoyé aux pilotes et constructeurs. Rappelons que les règlements techniques ont été votés par les représentants des pilotes lors d'une rencontre qui s'est tenue avec les dirigeants de la Série et les constructeurs.


Voici les grands points :

1- Diminution de 100 livres des voitures.

2- Retrait du silencieux.

3- Nouvelle Gear pour Montmagny et St-Félicien.

 

Un calendrier provisoire a été présenté aux personnes présentent par contre, il pourrait y avoir encore quelques changements et sera présenté officiellement sous peu. Il a été question du programme du  GP3R suite à la décision du promoteur, M. André Poulin de ne pas renouveler l'entente entre la Série et le GP3R selon les conditions présentées.  Des discussions sont en cours avec la direction de l'ASE (Autodrome St-Eustache) quant à la possibilité que la Série soit présente comme classe invitée. Le tout sera confirmé d'ici janvier.

No. 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Team Penalized

For Rules Infraction At Homestead-Miami Speedway

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 20, 2014) — The No. 17 team that competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has been penalized for a rules infraction discovered during pre-qualifying inspection Nov. 14 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

 

This infraction is a P3 level penalty which is outlined in Section 12-4.3 of the 2014 NASCAR rule book:

 

Violations resulting in P3 penalties tend to fall between serious and intermediate in nature. While they might include general "categories" of infractions similar to those in P4 (e.g. unauthorized parts; failing to meet specs; etc.), they tend to pertain more to secondary componentry or systems; modifications of lessor significance; go/no-go measurement failures of an intermediate nature.

 

This infraction violates Sections:

 

12-1 - Actions detrimental to stock car racing;

 

20-12 – Suspension: All front end and rear suspension mounts and mounting hardware must not allow movement or realignment of any suspension/drive line component beyond normal rotation or suspension/drive line travel.

 

As a result of these violations, crew chief Mike Kelley has been fined $50,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for six months starting Jan. 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015. Additionally, car chief Patrick Magee has also been placed on NASCAR probation for six months starting Jan. 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015.

Les préparatifs sont très avancés en vue de la saison 2015 qui se tiendra à l'Autodrome Drummond. Toujours à l'écoute des nombreux amateurs, Yan Bussière a composé un calendrier de 13 soirées de course pour l'été prochain. C'est donc dire qu'il y aura 2 programmes de course supplémentaire.

Les spectaculaires WOO de retour!
Le spectacle par excellence sur la terre battue sera encore une fois de retour en 2015. En effet, la direction de l'Autodrome Drummond a reçu confirmation que la série World Of Outlaws 410 sera en piste le samedi 1er aout. Quant à la traditionnelle visite de la série Super DIRTcar gros-bloc, ils seront chez nous le lundi 20 juillet.
Le calendrier officiel 2015 de l'Autodrome Drummond sera connu en début du mois de décembre avec une programmation de 13 programmes, débutant le samedi 23 mai pour se terminé en septembre, le 12 plus précisément!

PASS Adds Date At Kingsport; Teams With KOMA Modifieds At Concord, Kingsport

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 17) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have added a new race date to the 2015 PASS South Super Late Model schedule at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee and new details concerning the May race date at Concord Speedway in North Carolina.  Additionally, PASS will partner for the first time with the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series to feature both premier tours at the events at Kingsport and Concord.

           "We're very excited to announce the addition to Kingsport to our schedule and are very glad the KOMA Modifieds will be joining us there and at Concord," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "Our new partnership with the KOMA Modified Tour will allow us to present two mega-events to our fans that will feature the best Super Late Model and Modifed racers in short track racing."

            The PASS South Super Late Models and KOMA Unwind Modifieds will first partner on Friday night, May 8, 2015, to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary season at Kingsport Speedway.  The event will revitalize the "Daniel Boone Classic" held originally at Newport Speedway in the late 2000's.  This will be the first event for both series at the 3/8 mile speedway which will present a unique challenge as the only concrete track on their schedules.

             PASS and the KOMA Modifieds will once again partner for the "Old Glory Twin 125's" at Concord Speedway to kickoff the popular Memorial Day weekend of racing.  One slight change to the schedule is that the event which was originally scheduled for Saturday will move to Friday night May 22, 2015.  Saturday will now be utilized as a rain date if needed.

Noles Conquers Meltdown At Southern National; Rowe, Church Claim PASS Titles

LUCAMA, NC (November 15) – Trevor Noles capitalized on a bold 3-wide move with 10 laps to go to pass Christopher Bell and Jody Measamer and win Saturday afternoon's Mason Dixon Meltdown 200 at Southern National Motorsports Park.  Noles victory was his first career Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model triumph and also marked the first series win for the Coulter Motorsports team.

            "We finally got the monkey off our back and I just can't thank Coulter Motorsports and Randy Renfrow, they give me 110 percent every week," said Noles in victory lane.  "I drove just as hard as I could those last few laps and we're finally here where we belong.  It's been a long, cold weekend and I just can't thank everybody enough for being here today."

            In qualifying, Jared Irvan shattered the old track record by more than a tenth of a second for his second career quick qualifying time with a lap of 98.186 miles per hour.  In the top 10 qualifiers redraw, Irvan would pull pill number 9, while Tyler Dippel and Derek Ramstrom would move up to the front row.

            On a very cold and brisk afternoon, Dippel and Ramstrom led the 31 car starting field to green.  Dippel would lead the first five laps before Ramstrom moved by in turn three to take the lead.  PASS South points leader Tyler Church experienced major mechanical problems early on heading to the pit area for over 30 laps on lap 8.  With Church in the pits, the focus was on his nearest championship rival, Cole Timm, who was having a strong run inside the top 10.

            Following a caution for a spin by Karl Weber in turn two on lap 31, Ramstrom and Austin Wayne Self would lead the field back to green for the restart.  Self got a good start on the outside as the field roared into turn one.  Ramstrom battled back on the low side, but spun exiting turn two in front of the entire field.  The cars of Brandon Lynn, David Garbo, Jr., and Jeff Batten all made hard contact as they tried to avoid Ramstrom.  All four drivers were eliminated in the crash.

            On the ensuing restart, Dippel would have a mechanical problem and stop on the frontstretch to bring out a caution.  Dippel pulled his car in to the pits and out of the race, handing Ben Rowe his 3rd career PASS National Championship.

            Self and Christopher Bell were the class of the field much of the first half of the Mason Dixon Meltdown, but once they entered lapped traffic, the lead duo was joined by the cars of Timm and Brandon Setzer.  On lap 108, Bell moved around Self to take the lead and began to quickly stretch his advantage.  The caution would wave on lap 125 to allow teams to refuel and change two tires.

            On the restart with 75 laps, Timm appeared to break an axle on his machine while running third.  Timm would soon retire from the event giving Church his first career PASS South Super Late Model title, despite his problems from earlier in the race.

            After a trio of cautions for relatively minor spins, Bell and Self again raced hard on the restart with Bell coming out on top in his Toyota.  Self continued to struggle losing second to Setzer and would eventually fall out of the race.

            Setzer quickly closed in on Bell for the lead as they entered lapped traffic.  With 30 laps to go, Setzer took advantage of contact between Bell and Roger Lee Newton to take the lead exiting turn two.  Setzer appeared to be cruising to his first career Super Late Model win when a broken rear suspension sent Setzer out of the race with 11 laps to go and brought out the ninth caution of the night.

            On the restart, Bell and Jody Measamer brought the field to green, but Trevor Noles, who was in third, darted to the inside making an aggressive move to power by the leaders in turn one.  As the field headed down the back straightaway, contact between Measamer and Rowe racing for third place sent Measamer hard into the outside wall.

            This would give Bell one more shot at Noles, but Noles was again too quick on the restart.  Despite Bell's best efforts, Noles held on for his first career Mason Dixon Meltdown win.  Rounding out the top five were Bell, Rowe, Dalton Sargeant, and Harrison Burton. Completing the top 10 were Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Jared Fryar, Newton, Michael Rouse, and Matt Craig.

            Following the race, Rowe and Church joined Noles on the front straightaway to celebrate their championships.  A very relieved Church expressed his gratitude following their frustrating race.

            "I knew I was in trouble when we were sitting in the pits, but I told the Good Lord to take care of this and this is where we're at," said Church afterwards.  "I've got to thank Harold [Johnson] and Preston [Peltier] for getting us into this, but me and my daddy have worked hard on this car.  This is special and me and daddy will always cherish this moment."

            After a year that saw him go winless, Rowe was happy, not only for his third PASS National Championship, but to finish the season out on a high note.

            "It feels like a win for us to finish third, I mean we've struggled all year long," said Rowe.  "It's a fun series that PASS puts on.  You go to all these different tracks in the North and South and Canada and see all these different fans and it's a pretty neat deal."

            In the PASS Pro Late Model division, Kodie Conner took the lead from Jacob Schneider and never looked back as he went on to claim his fifth win of the season.  Rounding out the top five were Erik Nash, Schneider, Ryan Krachun, and Matt Murphy.  Walker Yates finished sixth en route to claiming his first career PASS Pro Late Model division title.

            Clint Fields led flag-to-flag for the Pee Dee/Coastal Supertruck win over Jimmy Herrington, Kevin Parsons, Clay Thomas, and Tommy Peregoy.

            Chris Lamb led every lap for the USAC Eastern Midget win over Scott Hunter, Kyle Craker, Blaine Leydig, and Jessica Bean.

Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Celebrates a Successful 2014 Season

Since its inception, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, powered by Torque Builders Inc. has been represented by a simple mission statement. "Powering and preserving affordable open wheel modified racing for racers, by racers". That motto was brought to the forefront during the opening remarks at the annual awards banquet – Saturday, November 15th – at the Quality Hotel in Oshawa.

 

In his preliminary address, Rick Warnes – one the 3 OMRS founding members – paid tribute to the runners who participated during the 2014 campaign. Racing on a 'spec' series tire, most drivers were able to run the full schedule on a single set of tires, keeping their costs below $500 for the entire year. While next year's schedule – with events pencilled-in for Peterborough and Flamboro Speedways – has yet to be finalized, Warnes said he expects to see most of the drivers and teams who followed series in 2014 to return; along with some new faces to create a battle for the top rookie honours.

Kevin Harvick Wins 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship

Fourteen-Year Series Veteran Captures First Career Title

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 16, 2014) – In a storybook finish to conclude a revamped Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Kevin Harvick won the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday to claim his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.

 

To win the title, Harvick needed to finish ahead of his fellow Championship 4 – and a win was the only way that would've happened. Ryan Newman finished second, Denny Hamlin finished seventh and Joey Logano ended the night in 16th.

 

After finishing a career-best third in the standings in three of the last four seasons, the 14-year series mainstay finally broke through for the premier series title in his first season with Stewart-Haas Racing.

 

A veteran of all three of NASCAR's national series, Harvick joins Bobby Labonte and Brad Keselowski as the third driver to win both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series crowns. Harvick, 38, is the 30th champion in the 66-year history of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

 

The No. 4 Budweiser/Jimmy John's Chevrolet driver showed off his speed throughout 2014, pacing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in laps led and poles. Following a two-win regular season, Harvick entered the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup as its No. 6 seed. He adeptly navigated his way through the Chase's Challenger and Contender Rounds highlighted by his victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but would still be searching for a championship without his clutch performance in the Eliminator Round cutoff race at Phoenix International Raceway.

 

Entering the penultimate showdown at the one-mile tri-oval last among Chase qualifiers, Harvick needed a win at Phoenix to advance to the Championship 4. He responded to the pressure by leading 264-of-312 laps and beating four-time series champion Jeff Gordon on his way to Victory Lane. The Bakersfield, California, native carried his momentum to Homestead, becoming the first title-winner under NASCAR's new playoff format.

 

Harvick's championship is the second for Stewart-Haas Racing. The racing outfit jointly owned by three-time premier series champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas won its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title behind the driving efforts of Stewart in 2011. No. 4 team crew chief Rodney Childers, also in his first season with SHR, won his first series crown as well.
