After a week away, the home track Late Model division will return to action Saturday, August 22nd at Peterborough Speedway. Not just for a single date, but for a 3-week stretch that could play a substantial role in the 2026 title chase. The track’s Hot August Nights Racing will wind up with the Saturday, September 5th Championship Clash, presented by APC Auto Parts Centres.

While he enters the 3-race stretch just outside the top 10 in this year’s point standings, Codrington, Ontario Jassen Whyte could still improve his own finishing position, while also being a factor in the overall outcome, just by running his own race in the team’s No. 55 car.

With a background that includes time spent in his own Bone Stock and Mini Stock equipment – sometimes running both cars on the same night – Whyte got his first taste of the sport at the age of 8 while spending his summer nights as a tire pressure specialist on his uncle’s racecars while learning a craft that would later help define his motorsports future.

Now 29, Jassen Whyte – who works as a delivery driver – brings sponsorship from NJ Bread Co. and K&K Kustoms to his regular ride is looking forward to the group of events that will wrap-up Peterborough Speedway’s 2026 Late Model schedule. Family, friends and fans can keep up with the team at the track or through @55Racing on Facebook.

Also on the Saturday, August 22nd schedule will be a 50-lap Shootout for the home track Bone Stock runners, plus Super Stocks and the Ontario Legend Car Series, with Kid’s Bike Races as the intermission feature. Grandstand gates open at 5:00, with the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 6:00.
