Hoar Rebounds At Canaan, Sets Sights On Oxford
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 5.14.12 RPM Motorsports Finishes 2nd In Subway 150; Ready For ACT Return GEORGIA, Vt. – After finishing second in the Subway Fresh Fit 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway last Saturday night, Brian Hoar said he's ready to get back to the ACT Late Model Tour this weekend. |
“We had a great race with Wayne, though, and it was a lot of fun.” After the Spring Green 112 at Devil's Bowl on May 6, Hoar said he went to Canaan with the simple mission of rebounding after finishing outside the Top-10 in an ACT Late Model Tour race for only the second time since 2010. Hoar drove up through the 28-car field in the open competition at Canaan on Saturday, leading the event on two different occasions in the second half of the race. He didn't come out with a trip to Victory Lane, but he did come out of it ready for a trip to Oxford Plains Speedway for the next event on the ACT schedule – the Armed Forces Day 150 this Sunday, May 20. Hoar won the first two ACT Late Model Tour races of this season before a hiccup at Devil's Bowl. Over the six Late Model races spanning the last two seasons at Oxford Plains, including the TD Bank Oxford 250, Hoar has not finished outside the Top-5. “The track is awesome,” Hoar said. “It races out well, especially the last few years when they put that sticky stuff down and they hit it just right in the middle groove. It makes for some great racing.” Despite holding the ACT records for both career wins (35) and championships (8), Hoar has never won a race at Oxford. The No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge prepared by RPM Motorsports owner and crew chief Rick Paya has been consistently among the frontrunners in races at the flat, .375-mile oval, and the car should be a threat again on Sunday. The team already took a step in that direction with the runner-up effort at Canaan – like Oxford, a .375-mile oval with wide, sweeping turns and very little in the way of straightaways. The team believes it can return to ACT Victory Lane on Sunday. “I definitely think so,” Hoar said. “There's some guys that have been running some different setups that are much less consistent on the Tour at other tracks, but at Oxford seem to work. A lot of guys are going that direction for Oxford to be competitive with the guys that are very, very strong week in and week out there.
