-Autodrome Granby. Vendredi 17 juin, David Hébert #ONE va chercher sa première victoire en saison à l'Autodrome Granby alors que Martin Pelletier #92 récolte sa 3ème. Pour la quatrième année, François Adam #01 reçoit le titre de M. Prostock. En STR, Francis Méthot #55 collecte sa première victoire sur la piste granbyenne.

 

Modifié Metalia 50 tours

David Hébert #ONE part en 4ème position, mais doit d'abord se battre avec le 54 de Steve Bernard pour la garder. Il la reprend au tour 3, en dépassant Bernard par l'intérieur après une vaine tentative par le haut. À la relance du 6ème tour, le ONE fait l'intérieur de Claude Brouillard #3 pour la 3ème. Le 1M de Mathieu Desjardins demeure premier devant le 73JR de Mathieu Boisvert jusqu'au tour 14 où le ONE dépasse Boisvert Jr par l'intérieur. Le 46 de Kayle Robidoux parti 9ème arrive 3ème au tour 20. Puis David fait l'intérieur de Desjardins au 23ème tour toujours par le bas pour la pôle.  Le 1* de François Bernier parti 12ème parvient 4ème au 28ème tour en faisant l'intérieur du 73JR. Steve Bernier #25* parti dernier ayant quitté la grille de départ pour aller mettre de l'essence dans son bolide remonte huitième au tour 35. Il gagne une position le tour suivant en faisant le large du 63 de Dominic Dufault. Au 40ème tour, Steve #25* fait l'intérieur du 54 de Bernard pour la 6ème place. Enfin, Bernier #25* fait l'intérieur du 22C au 42ème tour puis celui du 1M de Desjardins au tour suivant.

Martin Pelletier #92 part 11ème et arrive troisième à la relance du tour 15. Deux tours après, il fait l'extérieur du 43 de Martin Hébert pour la deuxième place. Au tour 18, Pelletier #92 passe meneur à l'extérieur du 8 d'Alexandre Salvas. Le 92, le 43 et le 8 reste dans cet ordre jusqu'au tour 22 ou Dany Gagné fait l'extérieur de Salvas. Ils se lutteront la troisième marche du podium jusqu'aux damiers. Alex Lajoie #33 parti 14ème joint les cinq premiers au 19ème tour en faisant l'extérieur du 4 de Samuel Desrochers et ne les a plus quittés.

Prostock 50 tours

François Adam #01 part 12ème. Il n'entre au top 5 qu'à la reprise du tour 19 en faisant l'intérieur du 60 de Michel Larocque. Au tour 21, Adam fait l'extérieur du 15 de Guy Viens et deux tours plus tard, l'intérieur du 07 de Robert Larocque pour la 3ème place. Depuis le 14ème tour, le 48 de Jocelyn Roy et le 115 de Stéphane Lemire mène le bal. Au tour 28, Adam se loge entre les deux. François fera l'intérieur du 48 au 35ème tour et ils reprendront leur sempiternelle lutte jusqu'à la toute fin. Parti 5ème, Robert Larocque #07 rejoint les trois premiers en faisant l'extérieur du 15 au 18ème tour, s'ensuivra un contant combat avec le 115 de Stéphane Lemire et le 33 de Bruno Cyr.

STR 20 tours

Francis Méthot #55 remporte sa première finale sur le circuit de Granby. Pierre Hébert #1 champion défendant de la classe STR part premier, mais glisse 5ème. Méthot #55 parti 5ème gagne ainsi une position. Le 96 de Patrick Laguë recule à son tour. Antoine Parent #17 mène les 3 premiers tours puis le 24 de Jonathan Archambault le fait au large. Au 5ème tour, Méthot fait l'intérieur de Parent pour la 2ème place. S'ensuit un duel entre le 24 en haut et le 55 en bas qui se termine avec le 55 en avant au 9ème tour et ce pour le reste de l'épreuve. Pierre Hébert #1 regagne deux positions par l'extérieur pour être 3ème au tour 5. Hébert dépasse le 24 par l'extérieur à 5 tours de la fin. Carl Labonté #48 parvient 4ème au 11ème tour après avoir dépassécoup sur coup le 27 de Dominic Beauchesne par l'extérieur, le 17 de Parent par l'intérieur et le 96 de Laguë.

Newton And Smith Claim Electric City Twin 125 Wins At Anderson

WILLIAMSTON, SC (June 17) – Roger Lee Newton inherited the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win after a wild finish, while John Smith played the right strategy for his first Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) win Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway.  For Newton, the Concord, NC veteran was in the right place when leaders Matt Craig and Dalton Sargeant made contact on the final lap to claim his third career PASS South Super Late Model victory.

"To be in this position after where we started today, we changed everything but the seat in this car," said Newton afterwards.  "Man, the crew worked their butts off today.  I don't give up on them and they don't give up on me, it's a team.  The last four or five races has taken a lot of wind out of our sails and we were about to quit racing.  I don't like to win this way, but we will take them however we can get them."

            In qualifying, Jody Measamer paced the field with a lap of 87.447 miles per hour for his second quick time of the season.  Measamerwould start seventh after the top 10 qualifiers redraw, while Newton and current PASS South points leader, Kodie Conner, would move to the front row.

            On a windy, but comfortable night for racing, Newton would take the lead to start, before RS Senter would move to the front on lap three.  Conner would take the top spot from Senter on lap 19, but Senter would move back around on lap 32 and begin to pull away from the field.

            While Senter was out front, defending Electric City 125 winner, Jared Irvan, was making his way up through the field after starting last due to a faulty oil pump.  Irvan moved around Measamer and into the top 10 on lap 53.  

Another driver on the move was Matt Craig, who moved by Dalton Sargeant for third on lap 80 and Conner for second just seven laps later.  Craig closed in on Senter and was able to take the lead entering turn one with 33 laps to go as they lapped the machine of Tyler Scofield.  But, with eight laps to go, Trey Jarrell would go for a spin in turn two to put the field under caution.

On the restart, Craig continued to lead, while Sargeant and Newton made their way past Conner, who was shuffled back to fourth in turn two.  The final caution of the night would wave with five laps to go when Tate Fogleman spun in turn two while battling Irvan for fifth.

Back under way, Craig and Sargeant waged war for the lead, trading paint and the top spot over the final laps.  On the last lap, Sargeant would move Craig up the track to take the lead entering turn one.  As the leaders raced down the backstretch for the final time, Craig got into Sargeant entering turn three causing him to spin.  After review, Craig was penalized for excessive rough driving which resulted in Newton taking the win over Irvan, Conner, Jacob Schneider, and Measamer.  Rounding out the top ten were Jeff Scofield, Wes Burton, Senter, Sargeant, and Craig.

In the SMRS Tour Modified 125 lapper, veteran John Smith took the lead from Precision Built Spindle Pole Award winner Brandon Ward with 14 laps to go and led the rest of the way for his first career series win.

"We rode and rode for about the first 40 or 50 laps and when it went back green around lap 65, I ran about three or four hard laps to see what I had and what we needed to do for adjustments," said Smith of his strategy.  "I love this race track.  You can pass on it and we put on a good race.  It was a long, hot day, but it thankfully it all worked out for us."

At the drop of the green flag, Gary Putnam jumped into the lead before being passed by Mike Norman on lap four.  Tom Buzze would take a turn up front, but Jimmy Wallace would take the lead on lap 24 and dominate the mid stages of the race.

Following the final caution with 44 laps to go, all the leaders would pit for tires and to make adjustments.  Jason Myers would lead after the restart before being passed by Ward with 35 laps to go.  Ward would stay out front until Smith made the winning pass on with 14 laps to go.  Following Smith took the checkered flag were J. Myers, Burt Myers, Buzze, and Ward.

Alex Tagliani inscrit une deuxième victoire consécutive au Sunset Speedway, son troisième triomphe dans la série NASCAR Pinty's


Montréal, 18 juin 2016 - Alex Tagliani a remporté la deuxième étape de la saison 2016 dans la série NASCAR Pinty's disputée samedi soir sur l'ovale de 0,333 mile du Sunset Speedway situé à Innisfil en Ontario. Le pilote québécois, qui s'est élancé de la dixième place pour cette course de 300 tours, a pris les commandes de la course pour la première fois au 58e passage. Tagliani s'est fait ravir la première position 20 tours plus tard par l'Ontarien Cayden Lapcevich, qui s'était élancé de la position de tête pour cette épreuve. À la suite de la quatrième neutralisation, Tagliani est sorti des puits au premier rang au volant de sa Chevrolet EpiPen/Riobel/CanTorque au 168e tour, pour mener jusqu'à l'arrivée.


« Une superbe victoire d'équipe pour une deuxième année consécutive au Sunset Speedway, a déclaré Tagliani.La voiture numéro 18 EpiPen/Riobel/CanTorque qui gagne un 18 juin, un jour avant la Fête des pères. Quel beau cadeau pour mon papa ! J'ai vécu beaucoup d'émotions en course, car il y avait de l'agressivité dans l'air. L'épreuve a été plus compétitive cette année. J'ai dû me battre jusqu'au dernier tour. Évidemment l'an dernier, j'avais doublé tous mes adversaires et la victoire m'avait semblé plus facile à ce moment-là. Cette victoire, je la dédie également à tous mes commanditaires. L'équipe Tagliani Autosport m'a préparé une excellente voiture et elle a effectué un travail formidable dans les puits pour me permettre de sortir en premier à mon second arrêt.


« C'est de bon augure de débuter ma saison en NASCAR Pinty's avec une victoire qui nous permet de revenir en force dans le championnat des propriétaires. Nous allons disputer nos deux prochaines courses au Québec, la prochaine à l'Autodrome Chaudière le 24 juin et la suivante sur le circuit routier d'ICAR à Mirabel le 3 juillet. »


Lapcevich a terminé deuxième suivi de Larry Jackson, Adam Martin, Kevin Lacroix et D.J. Kennington. Seulement six pilotes ont terminé sur le tour du vainqueur.


L'an dernier, Tagliani avait écrit une page d'histoire sur cette piste en devenant le premier pilote de cette série à croiser l'arrivée avec un tour d'avance sur tous ses rivaux.


Les amateurs pourront apprécier la victoire d'Alex Tagliani au Leland Industries 300 sur les ondes de RDS 2 le 9 juillet à 22 h 30. La prochaine étape de la série NASCAR Pinty's sera disputée le 25 juin sur l'ovale de l'Autodrome Chaudière à Vallée-Jonction.

MacDonald Dominates For Second Win of Season at Speedway 51

Groveton, NH – Eddie "The Outlaw" MacDonald took the lead from Nick Sweet just past the halfway mark and never looked back en route to his second American-Canadian Tour (ACT) win of the season in the Central Asphalt Paving Generation Next 151 at Groveton, NH's Speedway 51 on Saturday, June 18.

 

The Rowley, MA driver started seventh and slowly worked his way through the field in the early stages of the caution-free event. After moving into second place on lap 66 following an extended battle with polesitter Brandon Atkins, MacDonald needed just eight laps to reel in Sweet. He moved to the outside groove a few laps later, assuming the top spot on lap 78 and cruising to his first ACT win at the ¼-mile oval.

 

Au Sable Forks, NY's Atkins led the first 18 laps from the pole before ACT point leader Sweet moved to the point. Sweet then opened up a 10-car-length gap over a three-way battle for second between Atkins, MacDonald, and Scott Payea. Atkins was able keep MacDonald at bay for a number of laps with the help of lapped traffic, but MacDonald eventually found his way around him.

 

Payea worked past Atkins shortly thereafter and soon found himself on Sweet's bumper. The two put on a battle of their own for second before Payea took the position on lap 114 – but by then MacDonald was long gone.

 

Payea finished in second, while Sweet maintained his point lead with a third-place result. Atkins matched his season-best effort in fourth, while defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. was the final car on the lead lap in fifth. Jimmy Hebert, Bobby Therrien, rookie Ryan Olsen, Mike Ziter, and Rich Dubeau rounded out the top-10.

 

Heat wins went to Payea, Sweet, and Ziter. Local driver Mike Kenison won the consi.

 

The ACT Late Model Tour travels to Massachusetts' Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, July 16 for the Propane Plus 150. The event is the second leg of the Southern New England Tripleheader. Post time is 6:00pm.

Danny Benedict Looks for a Seat at the Head of the Late Model Class

Weekly short track stock car racers are widely known for going fast and turning left. After 6 seasons of wheeling a Mini Stock at a variety of different speedways, Danny Benedict decided it was time to take his career in a different direction. The 19 year-old from Orono, Ontario – who recently completed the Powerline Technician program at Algonquin College in Ottawa – began the 2016 season racing in the headline Late Model division at Sunset Speedway.

 

"Our efforts this season are focused on just one track, but I think we're actually racing more than we ever have before," said the talented rookie, who less than 2 months into his freshman season, scored his first career top 10 finish on Saturday, June 11th and currently sits near the top 20 in track points as one of the top rookies in the field. "At each show we're practicing, qualifying and running a pair of 35 lap feature events. That's a lot of track time, but its also the perfect environment to learn about a new car, a different division and to fill our notebook with plenty of set-up information."

 

With starting fields numbering in the mid to upper 20's on a regular basis and 29 drivers scoring points in the division this season, many people would understand if Benedict was even slightly intimidated by what could be considered as a daunting task. The driver known as 'The Showstopper' by his family, friends and fans has maintained a positive attitude and looks at the new experience as a growth opportunity that will help further develop his talents behind the wheel.

 

"From the moment we first announced that we were switching to the Late Model program, Dad and I have had a number of people including Dan McHattie, Scott Shaw and Linc and Bailey Brown step-up to offer their help; whether behind the scenes in the shop or on raceday," said Benedict. "That's one of the best things about racing at this level. No matter how badly someone wants to beat you on the track, they'll always help you find a package that'll work when the green flag falls."

Un samedi à ne pas manquer!
L'été est enfin arrivé et l'Autodrome Drummond en profitera pour présenter
aux amateurs de courses une soirée estivale avec un spectacle digne des
soirées les plus chaudes en terme d'action. Les gens qui habitent la ville de
Sorel-Tracy seront le bienvenue gratuitement ce samedi 18 juin.

Les Modlite sont de retour à L'Autodrome Drummond et le championnat est
très serré le 28 de Éric Désilets est premier suivi par seulement 2 petits
points par le champion de l'an passé Kevin Brurke le 91, donc un beau
championnat à surveiller.

Les Sportsman offre tout un spectacle depuis le début de saison. Pleins de
courses à rebondissements en donne plein la vues aux spectateurs.
Vraiment les Sportsman donne tout un "show", des luttes et des
dépassements jusqu'aux dernier tour c'est l'histoire de la saison 2016, on
ne pourrait demander mieux. Dany Gagné est en tête du championnat avec
8 points d'avance sur Bryan Cloutier et Fel Murray les talonne de près.

Et les Modifiés seront en piste avec la formule 2 fois 40 tours. Comme
toujours c'est très intéressant de voir la grille de départ inversée lors du 2e
40 tours, ca cause des surprises. Chez les Modifés 358, le promoteur Yan
Bussière domine le classement actuellement devant Mario Clair avec 8
points d'avance et la recrue Mathieu Desjardins qui suit pas très loin
derrière en 3e position. Le 1M est impressionnant à sa première saison en
358.

La doyenne des pistes en action au Canada saura vous en mettre plein la
vue. L'Autodrome Drummond "La F1 de la terre battue ».

PASS Carolina Doubleheader Moves To Hickory On Saturday Night

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 16) – The best racers in the south will be busy this weekend as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models will compete on back-to-back nights for the first time in series history this weekend.  The PASS Carolina Doubleheader will see the South's original Super Late Model tour compete for 125 laps on Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina before moving across the border on Saturday night to Hickory Motor Speedway for the 10thRunning of the Over The Mountain 150.

Hickory has a long and storied history, not just for stock car racing in general, but for PASS South as well.  PASS set the standard for Super Late Model racing in the region when PASS South was launched at Hickory in 2006 with the inaugural running of the Easter Bunny 150.  Since then, Hickory Motor Speedway has hosted the PASS South Super Late Models nearly 30 times, the most of any track on the schedule.

One driver hoping to score his first win in one of this weekend's doubleheader events is Trey Jarrell.  The young driver from Martinsville, VA has been impressive in a limited number of starts with PASS, but not any more than he was this past March at Hickory in the Easter Bunny 150.  Jarrell traded the lead back-and-forth with eventual winner, Ben Rowe, showing that he has what it takes to win on one of short track racing's biggest stages.  Jarrell and the Mark Reedy racing team head into the weekend brimming with confidence that they can get their first PASS South win.

"As a driver I have always liked Hickory going back to my days racing Legends cars," says Jarrell, who will pilot the Kaytech Inc. Ford this weekend.  "My crew worked extremely hard at the Easter Bunny 150 to put a fast car on the track for me.  To run inside the top five and lead a couple laps like we did on seven and later six-cylinders was quite an accomplishment.  Now, going back with a fresh motor and the knowledge we gained at the Easter Bunny 150, we feel like we have as good a shot at racing for the win as anybody.  Last time we raced at Hickory they had just laid sealer down on the cracks and it really gave the track a lot of grip.  I've heard since the Easter Bunny the sealer has worn off and the times have slowed back down.  I expect we'll be racing on the same slick Hickory track we're all accustomed to this Saturday."

But, it's not just at Hickory that Jarrell has excelled.  Last year, strong runs at South Boston Speedway and Caraway Speedway were foiled by late-race crashes.  In four starts this year, Jarrell has three top 10 finishes, with a best finish of sixth coming at Caraway in April.  Lessons learned last year have paid dividends for Jarrell so far in 2016.

"We've had 3 top 10s in-a-row now with the Kaytech-Reedy Racing Ford at Hickory, Caraway, and Concord," said Jarrell.  "I'm pleased with our consistency, but I honestly think each of those top 10 finishes should be top five finishes.  We finished eighth at Hickory on six-cylinders, sixth at Caraway the first time we ran a crate motor, and seventh the other week at Concord with fuel pickup problems down the straights.  As long as we keep showing up with fast racecars, we are going to be knocking on the door of stringing together top five runs and wins."

  Jarrell will be one of several drivers planning on double duty this weekend at Anderson and Hickory, including, PASS South points leaders, Kodie Conner and Matt Craig, as well as Tyler and Jeff Scofield, Dalton Sargeant, Wes Burton, defending series champion, Tate Fogleman, Jimmy Doyle, and, track record holder, Jody Measamer.  In addition, Georgia's Chris Dilbeck has filed an entry for Hickory as well as Tanner Gray and Jeff Batten.

All the action gets under way on Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway with practice beginning at 2:30 PM, followed by qualifying at 5 PM, then the Pit Party, and main events going green at 7 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, Mid-Atlantic Limited Late Models, and USAC Eastern Midgets.

​The American Canadian Tour, aka ACT Tour returns to Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire this coming Saturday night, June 18th at 5:30pm. Last years' event featured a solid field of ACT Late Models, and another full field is expected for Saturday night's event.

 

​ACT's top dogs including Nick Sweet, Eddie MacDonald, Wayne Helliwell Jr., Bobby Therrien and more are all set to take on Speedway 51's own Mason brothers, Brian and Corey, plus hard charging Shawn Swallow, Derek Ming and a  host of other Speedway 51 super stars.

 

​This year's Generation Next 151 will be sponsored by Ed Stanley's, Central Asphalt Paving Company out of Jefferson, New Hampshire. Ed and his company have been longtime supporters of the Track, and also laid down the new pavement in the pits and around the Speedway.

Tagliani Returns to Track He Dominated in Win Last Year

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Pinty's Series will return to Sunset Speedway for the second consecutive year this Saturday for the Leland Industries 300 presented by Dickies and Alex Tagliani hopes this year's race is a repeat of last year's dominating performance.

Tagliani took the lead on Lap 108 and never looked back on the way to his second career series win. He also made series history by becoming the first driver the 10 seasons of the series to lap the entire field during a race with the win.

The Lachenaie, Quebec, native scored his lone other series win on the road course in Edmonton in 2008.

Tagliani passed teenager Cayden Lapcevich during a long green-flag stretch on the .333-mile oval that enabled him to drive away from the field for his first career oval track win. The popular racing veteran was making his 27th career start in the series. He had previously scored a win at Wisconsin's Road America in the open-wheel CHAMP Car Series.

He'll have plenty of competition if he hopes to compete.

Jason Hathaway picked up a pair of wins on ovals last year and ran second to Tagliani at Sunset. And Cayden Lapcevich finished third at his home track as a 16-year-old after leading more than 40 laps. Rookie Josh Collins will make his first career start in the NPS this Saturday at Sunset and will be joined by fellow Jostens Rookie of the Year contender Kevin Lacroix.

Fast Facts:

The Race: The Leland Industries 300 presented by Dickies will be the second of 12 events on the NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule, and the second consecutive season for the NPS to visit Sunset Speedway.


The Procedure: The maximum starting field is 24 cars, including provisionals. The first 21 cars will have secured starting positions through two-lap time trials while the remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race is scheduled for 300 laps (100 miles) and is an impound race with two change tires allowed.


The Track: Sunset Speedway opened in 1968 as a quarter-mile oval. The track was resurfaced and expanded to .333-miles in 2009.


Leland 300 presented by Dickies Notes:

Klutt Will Try and Make It Two-For-Two: NASCAR Next driver Gary Klutt was able to capture the pole for the Leland Industries 300 presented by Dickies for the second consecutive season. Klutt, who picked up his first career win last year in the season opener at CTMP, started from the pole and finished sixth at Sunset last season.

 

Home Track Advantage: Track manager and NPS competitor Mark Dilley may have more local knowledge than any driver in the field, but he's not the only one with experience there. Jostens Rookie of the Year candidate Lapcevich has also competed at the Ontario oval in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and won the track's super stock division title in 2014.


Clean Race Helped Tagliani Lap FIeld: Tagliani set a blistering pace last year at Sunset, and was also assisted by a relatively clean race on the short track. The race was slowed on Lap 9 for a two car accident and the race went back to green flag conditions on Lap 20. By the time the third caution flag waved on Lap 288 for a multi-car spin, Tagliani had put the rest of the field a lap down.


Home Tracks: Shepherd Enjoys Early Season Lead at Sunset

Although was unseated last year as Ontario's NASCAR Whelen All-American Series provincial champion Gord Shepherd is off to a good start this season in his attempt to win his second provincial title in three years. Shepherd has yet to visit Victory Lane this season, however, the veteran has used four top-five finishes to enjoy an eight-point lead over Jason Hathaway in the standings (128-120). Last year's Ontario champion and third-place finisher in the overall NWAAS championship standings – Taylor Holdaway – sits third with a pair of wins and 102 points as of the June 5 standings.

PASS South And SMRS Mods To Kickoff Doubleheader Weekend At Anderson

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 14) – For the first time in series history, the Pro All Stars (PASS) South Super Late Models will compete on back-to-back nights this weekend.  The PASS Carolina Doubleheader will see the South's original Super Late Model tour compete on Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in upstate South Carolina, then move across the border on Saturday night to Hickory Motor Speedway.

The Electric City Twin 125's is one of the biggest shows to hit Anderson Motor Speedway, as both the PASS South Super Late Models and Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) Tour Modifieds will compete on Friday night.  This year's race will once again fall on Father's Day weekend, making it a very special event for all the drivers that will be competing.

Last year, third-generation driver Jared Irvan held off Roger Lee Newton and Clay Rogers to score his first career PASS South Super Late Model win.  Irvan hopes to return to victory lane this weekend, along with his famous dad, 1991 Daytona 500 winner, Ernie.

"Last year was really special and I would like to go back there and do the same thing," says Irvan, who carries the same paint scheme on his black #28 that Ernie raced in the late 1990s.  "At Anderson you really have to save your tires and get that straight exit off the corner.  You've gotta just stay sucked on the bottom, the lower you get the better you go.  It seems like the lower you are on that track the better your tires wear, so it's really important to hit your line every lap."

For the final time prior to the 14th Annual North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway in November, the SMRS Tour Modifieds will join the PASS South contingent on Friday at Anderson.  In 2012, Brandon Ward claimed his second career PASS South Super Late Model win there and hopes to return to victory lane on Friday night, but this time, in his SMRS Modified.  Plus as an added bonus, Ward and his competitors will be competing for the Precision Built Spindles Pole Award paying $150 to the fast qualifier.

"I expect the SMRS race at Anderson to be really good," says Ward, driver of the kpmoto.com/Foothill Ford #19.  "It's a unique racetrack with very little grip.  Combine that with very hot temperatures, it could turn out to be who has the most tire left at the end and not necessarily the best car.  In the past with the PASS Supers, Anderson has normally had a bottom and middle groove that enabled us to race side-by-side and move around a lot."  

As Irvan looks to defend his win from a year ago, PASS South points leaders, Kodie Conner and Matt Craig will be seeking their first career wins, as well as veterans Jimmy Doyle, Trey Jarrell, Jody Measamer, and Lee Hansard.  Dalton Sargeant's busy week will continue at Anderson, along with fellow Floridians, Jeff and Tyler Scofield.  Wes Burton will make his second start of the season and former PASS Pro Late Model racer, Jacob Schneider, will make his Super Late Model debut.

All the action gets under way on Thursday at Anderson Motor Speedway with an optional practice for PASS Super Late Models only from 5:30 PM – 8 PM.  On Friday, practice will begin at 3 PM with qualifying starting at 6 PM, followed by the Pit Party, and main events going green at 8 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, SMRS Tour Modifieds, USAC Eastern Midgets, B-M Modifieds, and Front Wheel Drive.
