A Perfect Weekend for Rémy Audette !

 


 

Boisbriand (Québec), July 3, 2016.– At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors & Windows Honda Civic Si, Rémy Audette earned two victories this weekend at Mirabel's Circuit ICAR, in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC). As the only Audette Racing Team driver entered in this event, Rémy had a perfect weekend, including the fastest time in qualifying and the lap record in each of the races on the program.

 

 

 

      

 

 

 

Held at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, these two Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) races were Rémy Audette's first in the 2016 season, as he will only be contesting a partial program in the series this year.  But the Audette Racing Team driver did not miss his chance : « it's a good weekend.  Actually, it's a perfect weekend ! » confided the Quebec driver, former American Formula 2000 champion.  He summarized the first race : « I led from start to finish.  I really pushed to my maximum at the beginning so I could build up a lead on those behind me and it worked really well.  I managed the rest of the race, without taking and risks and, despite that, I still crossed the finish line twenty-three seconds ahead of second place.  It's hard to ask for more than that ! ».

 

After this perfect race on Saturday, Rémy Audette had a bit of a different experience on Sunday : « I had a good start from pole position, but Ontarian Scott Nicol passed through a tiny mouse hole and took over the lead on the first turn.  We started a great battle that lasted at least five or six laps before I reclaimed top position » indicated the Audette Racing driver.  « Once I took back the lead of the race, I knew it was won ! The gap at the end was less than that of the day before but the race finished under a caution flag due to an accident further back in the pack.  It doesn't change our perfect weekend, though » continued Rémy.

 

Two races contested in 2016 resulting in two victories. Naturally, Rémy Audette is delighted : « the entire team worked really well, and the Dimensions Doors & Windows Honda Civic Si was reliable and competitive from the first lap to the last. I earned the fastest time in qualifying, the lap record in the two races, and the victory in each race as well.  What more can I ask for ? » concluded Rémy Audette.

 

The next CTCC event for Rémy Audette is set for the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, August 12th to 14th. This will also be the only time in the season that all three Audette Racing drivers will be on the track at the same time. In addition to Rémy, his older brother Mathieu (Acura RSX) and their father François (Porsche Cayman) will contest the event.

Deuxième place frustrante pour Alex Labbé en NASCAR Pinty's

 

Mirabel, QC, le 3 juillet 2016 - Alex Labbé a terminé 2e, à seulement 0,883s du gagnant, à bord de la Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque,  lors du ECKO 100 couru au circuit ICAR de Miralbel, après une chasse de tous les instants au fil des 30 tours de l'épreuve.

 

Parti de la pole et fort d'un nouveau record du tour en qualification, Alex Labbé a mené le premier tour puis  cédé la tête de course à Andrew Ranger à l'amorce du 2e tour. Les 20 tours qui suivirent ont vu le jeune pilote de St-Albert bien gérer sa course  : « Ma Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque marchait à merveille depuis le début de la course. Notre stratégie d'avant-course était de mener de fil en fil, mais cela a du changer avec Andrew (Ranger) devant moi. Je devais le suivre de près tout en ménageant mes pneus, puis attaquer fort à la fin, alors que ma voiture, j'en étais certain, serait toujours plus rapide que celle du leader. »

 

La nouvelle stratégie fonctionnait à merveille, avant qu'une neutralisation au 22e tour ne vienne gâter la sauce pour Labbé. La frustration d'Alex se voyait sur son visage après la course : « J'avais fermé l'écart avec Andrew à deux longueurs de voiture lorsque la drapeau jaune vint neutraliser la course. Lors de la relance au 29e tour, ma voiture était toujours un peu meilleure que celle d'Andrew, et je croyais encore pouvoir le doubler dans les 11 tours qui restaient à la course. » La relance fut pénible pour Alex : « On me poussa hors piste à la sortie du premier virage. J'ai réussi à conserver ma deuxième place mais l'aventure m'avait couté deux grosses secondes derrière le leader, et j'ai manqué de tours de piste pour revenir sur lui et le doubler. Une deuxième place est bonne pour la chasse au titre, mais tout de même frustrante alors que l'équipe technique de Dave Jacombs m'avais donné la meilleure voiture du peloton. »

 

Alex Labbé et la Ford no 32 de l'équipe Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque reviendront en piste à Toronto le 16 juillet, dans le cadre de la Honda Indy Toronto, sur le circuit urbain du Toronto Exhibition Place.

Frustrating 2ND Place For Alex Labbé in NASCAR Pinty's Race 

 


 

Mirabel, QC, July 3, 2016 - Alex Labbé finished the 30-lap ECKO Unlimited 100 race a close second, just 0.883 sec adrift of the winner, aboard the No 32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque Ford. After starting from pole position and dropping to second place on the second lap, then stalking the eventual winner, an untimely late-race yellow flag period scuttled his efforts to regain the lead and win the race.

After setting a new track record in qualifying, Alex Labbé was looking for a win in the 30-lap sprint race on the 3.3 km road course. The young driver from St-Albert (QC) spent the next 20 laps managing his tires and planning his pass for the lead as the leader gradually weakened. Alex knew his plan would work: "My No 32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque Ford was perfect throughout the race, so I could manage my tires and make sure it was still the quickest car on the track late in the race."

 

The Can-AM team's race strategy was working perfectly until a yellow flag came out on lap 22, just as Alex was within two car lengths of the leader and setting up for the pass. The frustration was visible on Alex's face after the race: "I was within a lap or two of passing Andrew, so all that work to set up the pass went for naught. I was then bumped around on the lap-29 restart, protecting my second place but losing two seconds to the leader in the process. My car was still great, but with only 11 laps to go, I ran out of time to catch Andrew and get by him for the win. Second place was good for season points but not what the Can-Am team was looking for after Team Boss Dave Jacombs and his crew had given me the best car on the track."

 

Alex Labbé and his Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's Barbeque No. 32 Ford will be back on track on July 16 as part of the Honda Indy Toronto event, held on the urban circuit at Toronto Exhibition Place.

Spectaculaire remontée et top-10 pour Patrick Dussault

Mirabel, Qc, le 3 juillet 2016 – Patrick Dussault a fait partie des pilotes les plus rapides de la série NASCAR Pinty's tout au long du week-end, lors du Ecko Unlimited 100 au Circuit ICAR de Mirabel. Après s'être qualifié parmi l'élite de la série, il a été forcé de revenir de l'arrière pour terminer parmi le top-10. 

Dussault, au volant de la voiture Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71, a fait tourner les projecteurs vers lui ce weekend. Lors de sa deuxième course seulement de sa carrière en stock-car, il a fait les 5e et 7e meilleurs temps de la séance d'essais et des qualifications. Malgré très peu d'expérience en stock-car, le pilote de 24 ans a été impressionnant et a beaucoup appris, même si la pluie a écourté la deuxième séance d'essais.

Septième sur la grille de départ de la course de 30 tours, Dussault s'est vu décerner une pénalité de passage aux puits pour être sorti de la ligne de course avant le départ. « J'étais à côté de la ligne et je n'ai pas pu y revenir. J'ai reçu cette pénalité qui m'a forcé à repartir loin à l'arrière du peloton. J'ai essayé de rester calme dans cette situation et de conduire intelligemment pour gagner des places sans être pris dans un accident », a-t-il expliqué.

Quand la première et seule neutralisation a eu lieu, au 21etour, il avait remonté jusqu'en 13e position sur 23 voitures. « Le drapeau jaune m'a aidé à réduire l'écart avec les compétiteurs devant moi », a indiqué le pilote de l'équipe PB Racing, fondée par l'ex-hockeyeur de la Ligne nationale de hockey et pilote Patrice Brisebois.

Patrick Dussault a finalement terminé en 10e place, son premier top-10 en NASCAR Pinty's. « Dans ce genre de situation, nous nous devons d'avoir une excellente voiture, et c'est ce que nous avions. J'ai été à l'aise dès que je suis arrivé ici. Mon équipe et mon chef d'équipe, Jonathan Côté, ont fait un excellent travail pour préparer ma voiture. Et surtout, nous avons prouvé à tout le monde que la voiture Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71 peut être très rapide », a ajouté Dussault.

Patrick Dussault et l'équipe PB Racing seront de retour en action à Toronto, les 15 et 16 juillet, pour la course NASCAR Pinty's présentée dans le cadre du Honda Indy.

Dussault scores top-10 finish after coming back from deep in the field

Mirabel, QC, July 3 2016 – Patrick Dussault stayed with the quickest NASCAR Pinty's drivers throughout the Ecko Unlimited 100 event held this weekend at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, QC. After qualifying among the top runners, he was forced to drive through the field to come back and make his way to a top-10 finish.

Dussault, at the wheel of the Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71 car, put the spotlight on himself during the weekend. In only the second race in career in stock car racing, he achieved 5th and 7th quickest times in Saturday's practice and qualifying. With very little experience in stock car racing, the 24-year-old driver has been impressive and gained much experience, despite rain shortened the second practice session.

Seventh on the grid for the 30-lap race, Dussault received a drive-through penalty for jumping the start.  "I was a little off the racing line. I couldn't come back in line and I received this penalty that forced me to come back all the way from the back of the field. I tried to stay calm in that situation and be smart not to be caught in an accident," he explained.

When the first and only yellow came out at lap 21, he had climbed up to the 13th position on 23 cars. "It helped me closing the gap with drivers in front of me", said the driver of PB Racing team, owned by former NHL player and driver Patrice Brisebois.

Patrick Dussault finally scored a 10th place finish, his first top-10 finish in the NASCAR Pinty's series. "In this kind of situation, you got to have a good car, and we had one. I was comfortable in the car as soon as I arrived here, and my team and my crew chief, Jonathan Côté, made an excellent job preparing it. Above all, we proved to everyone here that the Construction Vincent & Dussault/Multiplis n°71 car can be very quick", added Dussault.

Patrick Dussault and PB Racing team will be back in action in Toronto, on July 15-16, for the NASCAR Pinty's race held during the Honda Indy event.

Special PASS Event Highlights Big Weekend At Oxford Plains

NAPLES, ME (June 30) – With the 43rdAnnual HP Hood Oxford 250 less than two months away and with over 40 cars already entered, racers from across the continent are starting to focus their efforts toward one of short track racing's biggest events.  This weekend a huge opportunity will be presented to Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model racers on the "Road To The Oxford 250."  On Sunday, a special 100 lap event for PASS non-winners and drivers who have competed at Oxford Plains Speedway over the last five years will award the top three finishers a guaranteed provisional for this year's HP Hood Oxford 250.

Florida's Dalton Sargeant has made quite an impression since first beginning his stock car racing career in PASS South back in 2014.  Since then, he has won a K&N Pro Series race at Irwindale Speedway in California and been among the front runners everywhere he has competed.  While a PASS win has escaped him, he challenged for the win recently at Anderson Motor Speedway and finished third in the Over The Moutain 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway.  With over 70 cars expected to try and make the field for the HP Hood Oxford 250, the opportunity to get locked into one of short track racing's most elite starting lineups is not lost on Sargeant.

"There will be a couple of firsts for me this weekend, my first time at Oxford Plains Speedway and my first PASS North race," says Sargeant, who will piliot the Windows 10 Toyota Camry #55.  "We are using this race to warm up for the prestigious Oxford 250 later in the year, and we'll work really hard to put ourselves in a situation where I can race for those top 3 positions to lock us into the 250.  It's going to be an uphill battle as we'll be racing against some of the best drivers on the east coast but we'll learn what we can and apply it for the 250." 

An impressive field of drivers will join Sargeant as they look to lock themselves into the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 including veteran campaigners Kelly Moore, Tracy Gordon, Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Bobby Timmons, and Matt Matheson.  Derek Griffith will lead the young talent, along with Scott and Dave Farrington, Jr., Adam Polvinen, Ben Ashline, Brandon Barker, and Wyatt Alexander.  Plus, many Oxford Plains favorites like Tim and TJ Brackett, Scott Robbins, Rusty Poland, Dennis Spencer, Jr., Alan Wilson, Ben Ashline, and Nick Cusack.

It is a huge weekend of racing at Oxford Plains Speedway, which actually begins on Saturday night with Applebee's Fireworks Night, featuring Super Late Models, Figure 8s, Legends, Cruisers, Trucks, Street Stocks, Outlaw, Bandits, Ladies, and Rebels.  On Sunday, in addition to the PASS non-winners 100 lapper, it will be a continuation of the Independence weekend fun featuring the Colossal Carnage 100 Enduro, North East Street Stock Tour, Spectator Drags, Flag Pole race, and a Smokey Doughnut competition.

C'est ce samedi, 26 juin 2016 que ce tenait le 3e programme de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil à l'Autodrome Montmagny pour le programme Les Entreprises M.P Roy 75.

Pour l'occasion 19 voitures étaient présentes. Malheureusement, le #43 Randy Goulet n'a pu participer à son premier programme suite à des ennuis de motorisation détectés lors d'une séance d'essai en début de semaine.

Qui vaincra #17 Jimmy Nadeau

Le #17 Jimmy Nadeau demeure invaincu en séance de qualification depuis le début de la saison. Partie en 2e position, Nadeau s'est rapidement installé sur la pole et a su maintenir sa position tout au long des 10 tours. Le #67 Dominic Jacques de Vallée-Jonction et le #37 Dany Gariepy de Québec sont les gagnants de 2 autres séances de qualifications.

Un 75 tours où règne la discipline

N'hésitant pas, dès le début du programme, à sortir le drapeau noir roulé en guise d'avertissement, le nouveau directeur de course David Pichette a su imposer la discipline en piste. Les pilotes, qui avaient réclamé plus de sévérité ont répondu positivement en offrant aux spectateurs présents un programme sous le signe du respect des autres. Nous avons pu constater d'excellente performance entres autres du #41 Samuel Charland commandité par Charest International 


qui s'est battu côte à côté pour la première position au côté de Jimmy Nadeau à bord de sa voiture aux couleurs de Lucas Oil. Menant plusieurs tours et se dirigeant vers une première victoire en carrière avec les Sportsman Qc, le #41 Samuel Charland a été contraint à l'abandon suite à un ennui mécanique.

Le #37 Dany Gariepy commandité par Pavé Concept a tenu la 3e position pendant bons nombres de tours. N'attendant qu'une petite erreur de la part de Gariepy, se tenait pas loin derrière le #67 Dominic Jacques avec sa voiture aux couleurs de Boulevard Toyota/Scion/Lexus et Location FRL Express. Les deux pilotes ont lutté quelques tours côté à côté jusque ce que Jacques s'empare de la 3e position.

 

La solide performance du  #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque  n'est pas à passer sous silence. Le pilote de Saint-Damien, partie en 2e position était très rapide en piste. Il a usé de patience, ne laissant de place à aucun dépassement et jouant d'un pilotage sans faille.  L'expérience de ce pilote aura été payante pour lui.

Un programme avec quelques drapeaux jaunes mais sans plus qui a su donner droit à de belles relances. Le #17 Jimmy Nadeau récidive en remportant à nouveau l'épreuve sur le circuit de Montmagny tout comme il l'avait fait l'an dernier. Il est suivi du #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque qui remporte ainsi son 6e podium en arrière. Le #67 Dominic Jacques complète ce podium en montant sur la 3e marche du podium.  Le top 5 est complété par le #37 Dany Gariepy et le #89 Marc Bertrand.

Excellente performance de la part du #65 Christian Roussin qui, pour son 2e programme avec la Série Sportsman Qc, qui repart avec une 9e position. Le pilote de Québec commandité par Garage Magela Beaulieu et Provost Racing poursuit son adaptation avec la voiture et acquiert ainsi son premier top 10.

Le prix Métalico Performance de la semaine remis par M. Réjean Pichette revient au #17 Jimmy Nadeau pour sa victoire en qualification et en finale. Un programme parfait pour le pilote de Beauceville qui lui vaudra la remiser d'une somme de 100$ cumulant les montants des deux derniers programmes.

Le président et promoteur de la série Sportsman Qc, M. André Poulin s'est dit très satisfait du programme tant au niveau du travail fait par l'équipe d'officiels que par le respect qu'on a pu constater en piste.

La table est mise pour le prochain programme qui se tiendra le 01 juillet prochain pour la Journée de la famille de l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction où vous pourrez voir en piste en plus des pilotes de la Série Sportsman Qc, les pilotes Mini Sportsman présents pour ce programme. C'est à ne pas manquer; les détails suivront dans un communiqué sous peu.

Vainqueur en première manche de la "Triple Couronne"... L'Américain Wood chantonnait.

Samedi dernier, sur le tracé de l'Autodrome Montmagny, se tenait la première manche de la "Triple Couronne Can-Am Nascar Sportsman". Une épreuve de 50 tours, à laquelle ont participé tout près d'une douzaine de pilotes ainsi que leurs équipiers de la série reine de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Ne regrettant en rien le voyage de huit heures, allez retour, qui le séparait de son domicile, c'est l'Américain, Robin Wood, Chevrolet #61, qui c'est littéralement sauvé avec la victoire.

Prenant le départ en fond de grille, le pilote de Plattsburgh N.Y. aura graduellement remonté le peloton avant de s'installer en pôle pour finalement remporter cette première manche de la "Triple Couronne", et ce, avec une très confortable avance. "I love Montmagny..." La ritournelle publicitaire bien connue, vantant les qu'alitées touristique de son état d'origine, aurait été entendu dans les écouteurs de son éclaireur alors que Wood voguait vers la victoire. Ce dernier prend ainsi une sérieuse option sur le titre, puisque la manche suivante ce tiendra dans son carré de sable, sur le tracé du "Airborne Speedway" en juillet prochain.

Ont accompagné Robin Wood sur le podium, le vétéran Benoit Juteau, qui, pour l'occasion, prenait la relève de fiston Raphael, au volant de la Chevrolet #37X, termine deuxième, alors que le "Sheriff" Jean-François Bouvrette, Chevrolet #38, monte sur la dernière marche du podium. Martin Lacombe #03, ainsi que Éric Gagnon, #7, complète quant à eux le "Top-5".

Plus tôt en journée, Martin Lacombe, Chevrolet #03, ainsi que Rémi Perreault, Camaro #33R, avaient remporté leur vague respective de qualification, leur donnant ainsi le privilège de prendre le départ en première ligne.

Tous les pilotes et équipiers auront apprécié à sa juste valeur cette visite . Acceuil irréprochable, météo idéal, une foule d'amateurs de "Stock-Car" endiablé, en plus d'être une première expérience pour la majorité d'entre eux sur le circuit de Montmagny, d'aucuns n'avait de regrets d'y avoir fait le déplacement.

À noter que la deuxième manche de cette triple couronne sera courue le samedi 30 juillet sur la piste du "Airborne Speedway" de Plattsburgh dans l'état de New York. Le prochain programme "Stock-Car" de l'Autodrome St-Eustache se tiendra quant à lui, samedi le 9 juillet prochain, alors que les pilotes de la série ACT seront en piste, en plus de nos quatre séries locales.

DES RÉSULTATS PARTAGÉS POUR SAMANTHA TAN À ROAD AMERICA

 

ELKART LAKE (WI), LE 26 JUIN 2016 – Les 7e et 8e courses du championnat Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) on eut lieu à la piste de Road America, à Elkhart Lake, au Wisconsin. Road America est un circuit routier de 6,25 kilomètres qui compte 14 virages. Ce circuit peut être très exigeant pour les freins, car il compte trois longues lignes droites. Samantha connait le circuit car elle à couru ici une fois l'an dernier. Cette année, elle est de retour avec sa nouvelle voiture, la Honda Civic Si STR/GPI #38.

Le weekend de courses a commencé le jeudi martin avec une session d'essais libres sous la pluie. Samantha s'est bien acquittée des conditions en sortant avec des pneus de pluie. Elle a éventuellement pu entrer aux puits pour changer ses pneus et mettre des pneus lisses. Malgré que la session fût interrompue par un drapeau rouge, elle posté un chrono de 2:44:307, bon pour la huitième place dans la classe TCA.

Durant la qualification en vue de la première course,  une autre situation a nécessité un drapeau rouge et Samantha a réussi à améliorer son temps de 3 secondes, pour une septième position sur la grille de départ avec un chrono de 2:41.072. Samantha a très bien réussi son premier départ lancé et gagné deux positions, mais quelques erreurs de pilotage alors qu'elle se battait pour améliorer sa position, l'on reléguée au 7er rang du peloton, par ailleurs dominé par les Mazda Miata, une desquelles est entré en collision avec elle à quelques reprises. «Il y a eu pas mal de contact entre les voitures durant la course et ceci m'a quelque peu déconcentré. J'ai tout de même pu regagner ma concentration et réussi à me frayer un chemin à travers le peloton. J'ai manqué de temps et j'ai du me contenter de la 7e place.» Heureusement, les dommages étaient mineurs et la voiture était en bon état pour la deuxième course.

Le vendredi après-midi pour la deuxième course, Samantha était en 9e position sur la grille, pour un départ arrêté. Elle a connu un autre bon départ, s'emparant de la 7e place après le premier virage. Malheureusement, vers la mi-course, sa voiture a commencé à surchauffer, limitant ainsi sa progression. «Je me sentait bien mieux pour la deuxième course et j'anticipait un meilleur résultat. Malheureusement, mon moteur s'est mis à surchauffer, ce qui réduit passablement la puissance.» Vers la fin de la course, comme Samantha remontait le peloton des voitures TCB moins puissante, elle a tenté un dépassement sur une des Miata de la classe TC plus lente et a été forcée hors piste pour éviter la collision. Elle a tout de même pu finir la course au septième rang.

«Ce circuit est très dur sur les freins et nous devons être très précis pour réussir un dépassement. J'ai du sortir de piste, car cette Miata était tellement proche que nous aurions eu une collision dans le Canada Corner et ma course aurait fini là. Je ne voulais vraiment pas ce genre de résultat pour ma deuxième course, de dire Samantha.» L'équipe aura amplement de temps avant le prochain weekend de courses pour réparer les quelques dommages et s'occuper du problème de surchauffe.

Les manches 9 et 10 du championnat auront lieu à Utah Motorsport Campus, au Utah les 12,13 et 14  août prochain. Les deux courses TC-TCA et TCB à Road America seront rediffusées sur les ondes du réseau CBS Sport le jeudi 7 juillet à 20h00 HDE.

MIXED RESULTS FOR SAMANTHA TAN AT ROAD AMERICA

 

 

ELKHART LAKE (WI), June 24, 2016 – Rounds 7 and 8 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) race were held at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, USA. Road America is a 6.52 kilometer track with 14 turns. This track can be very demanding on the brakes as there are three long straightaways. Samantha Tan has had some experience at this track, as she raced here once last season. This year, she is back with her new car, the STR/GPI #38 Honda Civic Si.

 

Thursday morning's weather started off with a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and rain. She handled the conditions well with wet tires, then eventually changed to slicks once the track started to dry up. Even though a red flag interrupted the practice, her best time for the official practice session was 2:44:307, the 8thbest time in the TCA-Class.

 

During the qualifying session for Race 1, the red flag was once again waving. Interrupting the session. Samantha clocked a time of 2:41.072 for the qualifying session, putting her in 7thplace on the starting grid. Tan had a very good rolling start quickly moving up two positions, but a few driving errors while battling for position saw her fall back to 7th place at the finish in a field dominated by Mazda Miatas, one of which she came in contact with. "There was a lot of bumping and contact during the race. That unsettled me a bit initially, but I was able to get my concentration back and move back up through the field. I just ran out of time and had to settle for 7th place." Luckily the damages were minor and the car was in good running shape for the second race. 

 

Race 2 began on Friday evening with Tan in 9thplace on the grid for the standing start. She again had a good start, moving up two positions, but her car started to overheat near the halfway mark and the engine lost power, limiting her progress. "I was feeling much better during the second race and looking forward to a better finish. Unfortunately, the engine started to overheat, which actually reduced the amount of power." Towards the end of the race, Tan was moving through the field of less powerful TCB cars, when she encountered a slower TC car. While trying to overtake the slower TC Miata, the driver did not see her and forced her off the track. Undeterred, she still managed to cross the finish line in 7th place. 

 

"This track is really demanding as it is tough on brakes and you have to get the lines just right to pass someone. I was pushed off the track because this TC car was so close to me and I had to let him go to avoid making contact in Canada Corner. My race might have finished right there. I really did not want that kind of result, Samantha said following the second race." The team will have plenty of time to make sure the car is ready for her next race weekend and fix up some scuffs from this race, as well as address the overheating issue.

 

Rounds 9 and 10 will take place on August 12-14 at Utah Motorsports Campus, in Tooele, Utah.  TC-TCA-TCB races from the Road America weekend will be aired on CBS Sports Network Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 08:00PM ET

Labbe Wins A Race For The Ages
Holds Off Lapcevich In NASCAR Pinty's Series Thriller At Chaudiere

VALLEE JONCTION, Quebec – It was finish that had the fans on their feet for the final 25 laps and left long-time observers of the NASCAR Pinty's Series calling it one of the best races in the series' 10-year history.

 

In the end, it was 23-year-old Alex Labbe celebrating his first career win in front of his hometown crowd and 16-year-old Cayden Lapcevich with a second straight impressive runner-up finish.

 

Just how wild was Friday's finish on the .25-mile banked oval?

 

Labbe took the lead from Lapcevich with 21 laps to go with the first of nine lead changes in the closing laps, as the two young rising stars ran nearly door-to-door the entire time. Labbe's No. 32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou's BBQ Ford, running the slightly higher line, would pull slightly ahead. But whenever he moved down, he'd get the bumper of Lapcevich's No. 76 OhswekenSpeedway.com Dodge that pushed him back up the groove and allowed the teenager to pull back alongside.

 

The ran side-by-side for the final 10 laps, swapping the lead by a nose at the line. Labbe took the point with three to go and only a slip-up in the final turns of the final lap prevented a last-gasp bump-and-run attempt by Lapcevich.

 

Final margin of victory was .331 seconds.

 

Alex Tagliani finished third right behind the leaders, just another tenth back. Donald Theetge and Mark Dilley completed the top five.

 

Earler in the day, Labbe won his second E3 Spark Plug Pole Award. But unlike the season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where he lost the win with a lap and a half to go, he was able to close the deal. He led a race-high 150 laps, dominating the first half of the race in his 18th career start.

 

Lapcevich walks away with a nice consolation prize: He becomes the youngest driver to lead the championship points. Lapcevich leads Andrew Ranger by six and Labbe by eight.

 

Kevin Lacroix finished sixth, followed by Jason Hathaway, Ranger, David Michaud and DJ Kennington. Ranger led 71 laps and had been battling with Lapcevich for the lead before he slipped up in Turn 4 on Lap 227. That handed the lead to Lapcevich and set the stage for the final run to the finish.

 

The CRS Express 300 will air on TSN on July 2 at 12:30 p.m. ET, and on RDS on July 15 at a time TBA.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series will be right back on track Sunday, July 3 for the ICAR 100 at Circuit ICAR, the road course in Mirabel, Quebec.

Teams Ready for Chaudière Part Duex After Postponement

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Pinty's Series will return to Autodrome Chaudière after weather forced track officials to postpone the CRS Express 300 at the quarter mile track in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec, two weeks ago.

 

This make-up event couldn't come at a better time for NASCAR Pinty's Series championship contender Jason Hathaway.

 

Hathaway is coming off the most recent race for the series at Sunset Speedway with a disappointing 17th-place finish getting involved in an accident that forced him to the pits for extensive repairs.

 

The St. Thomas, Ontario, native returns to a track he's won at in both previous visits by the touring series.

 

A victory this Saturday would help get Hathaway back in contention for the championship and also tie him with Andrew Ranger for the most consecutive wins at one track in series history. Ranger accomplished the feat at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres (2008-10) and Circuit ICAR (2012-14).

 

Hathaway dominated in the inaugural race at Chaudière in 2014, leading 177 laps. Last year he led the final 30 laps and held off pole-sitter Alex Labbe at his home track to score the victory.

 

Ranger remains the points leader after the first two races of the season as he and Cayden Lapcevich each have 83 points with Ranger on top after winning the season-opener at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Fast Facts:
The Race: The CRS Express 300 will be the third of 12 events on the NASCAR Pinty's schedule, and the first of four trips to the province of Quebec.

The Procedure: The maximum starting field is 24 cars, including provisionals. The first 21 cars will have secured starting positions through two-lap time trials while the remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race is scheduled for 300 laps (75 miles) and will have a five-minute midway break at or near the conclusion of Lap 150. This is an impound race with two change tires allowed.

The Track: Autodrome Chaudière held its inaugural Pinty's Series event in 2014. The quarter-mile, high-banked oval opened in 1992 with a dirt racing surface and was paved for the first time in 2005.

Chaudière 300 Notes:
Homecoming for Labbe: Alex Labbe won the pole for this event last season and led 109 laps. He's from Victoriaville, Quebec, making Autodrome Chaudière his home track.

Ontario Drivers Perform Well at Quebec Ovals: There have been nine oval races in the province of Quebec in Canadian Tire Series history, and eight of the nine have been won by an Ontario driver. Hathaway has won both previous races at Autodrome Chaudière. There have been seven events at Autodrome St-Eustache with Ontario natives Steckly (4), Kennington and Dave Whitlock picking up the first six wins at the track. Last season Quebec native Andrew Ranger broke through and ending the streak at St-Eustache.

Tagliani Looks For Another Win: Alex Tagliani, fresh off his win at Sunset Speedway will go after his fourth series win and second in as many weeks. All four of Tagliani's wins have come on ovals. The Lachenaie, Quebec native finished fifth in this race last year.

Theetge Set to Drive For Steckly: Donald Theetge will make his third career start in the NASCAR Pinty's Series this Saturday at Autodrome Chaudière. Theetge also joined his brother Benoit and competed in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Challenge at Daytona International Speedway in 2010 finishing third. He'll drive a car owned by four-time NPS champion Scott Steckly. Steckly led a race-high 154 laps last year before being sidelines with mechanical issues.
