Forecast Forces Ontario Legend Car Series Schedule Changes

If planning dates for a provincial racing series was a simple task, anyone could do it.

Using schedules from previous seasons as a template, officials with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series decided on the 2026 raceday line-up months ago. At that time, thoughts that they’d be rescheduling rescheduled dates never entered the conversation of the group’s promotional team.
 
Saturday, August 8th Legend Car action was included with the Ontario Sportsman Series special event at Peterborough Speedway. Rain earlier in the day and an 11:00 curfew mandated by municipality caused the scheduled main event to be delayed to the opening slot for the Saturday, August 22nd line-up.
 
Predicted heavy rains and thunderstorms led to track officials cancelling that night’s scheduled program. With a full line-up already in place for the pair of dates remaining on the 2026 regular season schedule, teams with the Ontario Legend Car Series will be working with the Peterborough Speedway raceday staff to see if an additional show could possibly be added to the 33rd annual B&G Towing & Recovery Autumn Colours Classic itinerary.

Cornwall Motor Speedway Event Celebrates the Life of Stephane Lafrance

Starting fields at hometown short tracks have long been considered as a proving ground for racers of varying talent levels. Some show their skills behind the wheel, while others demonstrate prowess behind the scenes. Stephane Lafrance fell into both categories.
 
While at the controls of his familiar No. 115 DIRTcar Modified, he scored multiple main event wins at a variety of venues including Cornwall Motor Speedway, with 18 career main event wins at the local venue and the 2011 track championship to show for his efforts. In the shop, his abilities as a fabricator crafted weekly equipment that pushed the limits as a designer. He uniquely devised ‘Run What You Brung’ machines were unrivalled in both speed and creative ingenuity.
 
Thursday, June 25th the provincial motorsports community received the sad news that Stephane Lafrance Saint-Albert, Ontario had passed away, at just 57 years-of-age.
 
In recent years, Lafrance had earned a solid reputation while operating Trick Race Parts and supplying body parts, panels and pieces for various DIRTcar Modified and Sportsman-Modified competitors. He also assisted racer and good friend Ryan Godown. All the while, a potential return to his racing roots was never far from his mind.
 
Sunday, September 6th, Cornwall Motor Speedway will pay tribute to a racer who was a rival to many and friend to all with the running of the Stephane Lafrance Memorial, a 115-lap headliner for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds. The marquee event will feature sponsored laps, each with a $115 payout funded by track supporters. The race winner will receive an $11,500 payday.
 
Also on the raceday line-up for the Fat Les’s Chip Stand Canadian Nationals will be DIRTcar Sportsman-Modifieds, Pro Stock, Mini Stock and Novice Sportsman. General admission gates open at 4:00, with racing at 6:00.

In a world of cookie-cutter racecars, Stephane Lafrance designed, built, raced and won in cars created in his home shop in Saint-Albert, Ontario. Lafrance passed away Thursday, June 25th.
