Autodrome Drummond : on enlève le haut


On enlève le haut!
Depuis quelques années, la Soirée qui vient aide à la Fondation du cancer du
sein du Québec, offre comme concept original, de faire une soirée «Top
less». Ou toutes les voitures en pistes seront dépourvues de toîts
(Sportsman, Modifiés) ou d'ailerons dans le cas des Ligtning Sprint. Ce qui
permet aux amateurs de voir encore plus le travail des pilotes, et aussi
d'apprécier la maîtrise des Lightning sans leurs imposants ailerons. Faut dire
aussi que ça donne un petit look agressif aux bolides.

Toujours dans le cadre de cette soirée spéciale, des dons seront amassés
pour venir en aide à la Fondation du Cancer du sein du Québec, et les
femmes seront admises gratuitement.

Le Lightning Sprint sont de retour, sans leurs ailerons cette fois. C'est
toujours impressionnant de voir les pilotes aiguiser leur dextérité en l'absence
d'appuis aérodynamiques sur leurs bolides. De belles glissades en
perspective. La famille Poirier, Yannick , le paternel et Jordan le fils
s'amusent en haut du classement. Alex Therrien, Guillaume Neiderer et Eric
Sundborg sont toujours à surveiller.

Les Sportsman seront aussi en piste sans leur «top» pour 25 tours d'action.
Comme ils en ont l'habitude cette saison, ils peuvent causer des surprises, et
offrir un spectacle d'enfer. Bryan Cloutier occuper toujours la tête du
championnat avec 491 points suivis de Dany Gagné qui s'est approchés,
avec 10 points d'écart et Martin Pelletier grimpe tranquillement dans le
championnat, en 3e place avec 433 points.

La classe reine, les Modifiés «Top less» nous offrirons 75 tours de pur
bonheur. La recrue Mathieu Desjardins à connu une soirée de misère lors du
dernier programme a l'Autodrome Drummond, et Yan Bussière consolide sa
place en tête du championnat avec maintenant 709 points. Gino Clair connait
une très belle saison du côté de l'Autodrome Drummond et n'est pas très loin
au deuxième rang avec 695 points. Le pilote de Victoriaville, Dany Bilodeau a
aussi du succès avec plusieurs podium qui permet de s'installer au 3e rang
du championnat avec 685 points. Desjardins a chuté au 4e rang avec 682
points, tout est possible.

La doyenne des pistes en action au Canada saura vous en mettre plein la
vue. L'Autodrome Drummond "La F1 de la terre battue ».

NAPLES, ME (August 5) – When you mention the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) to any race fan across North America, there's a good chance that Ben Rowe is the first driver's name that comes to mind.  As the PASS North Super Late Model division's "Ironman", Ben Rowe has started every race since the series started in 2001, the only driver to do so.  Along the way, Rowe has won 4 PASS North series titles, the 2009 PASS National and PASS South championships, and has won more PASS Super Late Model races than any other driver, nearly 50 when combining both PASS North and South wins.

            Rowe, like most every other driver from across the nation, holds the HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in high regard.  As a kid, he watched his dad, Mike, go to victory lane in the 1984 running of the 250 and competed against him in Mike's wins in 1997 and 2005. 

            "The Oxford 250, as it was then known, was the biggest race of the year in the Northeast hands down," said Rowe.  "Everybody from down South or out West, when you mentioned that race, they had heard of it.  And whether it was the money or the prestige or whatever, everybody wanted to win the 250.  To start with, a lot of Southerners came down and had won it and then my dad was the first driver from Maine to win it, so it's always been special for our family."

            It was those lessons learned from his dad that helped Ben go to victory lane in the HP Hood Oxford 250 in 2003 and 2004, joining Geoff Bodine, Ralph Nason, and later Eddie MacDonald and Travis Benjamin, as the only back-to-back winners of the 250 (Note: Nason won three straight HP Hood Oxford 250s from 1998-2000).  Despite his wins coming just a year apart, each race holds a special place in Ben's heart for different reasons.

"It was something for me to watch my dad try to win the 250 for all those years and finally get it, and then to win it myself meant everything for me because I really knew how hard it was to win," said Rowe.  "The second year I won it in 2004, I had to pass Matt Kenseth with just a few laps left to go to win it and that made it pretty special for me."

Ben Rowe has seen a few things change over the years in the HP Hood Oxford 250, especially the cars competing in the race.  From the Busch North cars his father raced there to Pro Stocks, now known as Super Late Models, to the slower, heavier Late Models that raced in the 250 from 2007 to 2012.  

This season has already been eventful for Ben Rowe and has him excited about his chances for another 250 win.  Rowe assured himself a starting sport for this year's race by winning his third Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.  And he followed that up with a win in the first PASS North Super Late Model race of the year at Oxford Plains Speedway after a thrilling three-wide duel with fellow series champions, Johnny Clark and DJ Shaw.

For both Ben and Mike Rowe, it's been a long journey from Turner, ME to the pinnacle of short track racing. But one thing is for sure, as long there is a HP Hood Oxford 250, it's a safe bet the Rowes will be there up near the front.  And there's nothing Ben Rowe would love to do more than join his father as a 3-time winner of the 250.

The PASS Super Late Models will not be alone in making the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 a celebration of short track racing.  A great slate of divisions is set to race starting on Friday, August 26 with the Street Stocks, Outlaws, Rebels, Trucks, Cruisers, Bandits, Legends, and Ladies, plus PASS Super Late Model practice.  The PASS Super Late Models be on the track on Saturday, August 27 for practice in the morning, followed by racing in the evening for the ACT Late Models, Valenti Modifieds, PASS Modifieds, Classic Lites, Legends, Mini Stocks, Wicked Good, and Street Stocks.  On Sunday, August 28, gates will open bright and early at 7 AM with a full day of on track activities including practice and heat race action for the PASS Super Late Models, followed by features for the PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks, North East Mini Stock Tour, Legends, Rebels, and finally the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 to begin at approximately 5:30 PM.

Pinty's Series Stat Advance: Riverside

Analyzing the Bumper To Bumper 300

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2016) – The 2015 NASCAR Pinty's Series will return to Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, on Saturday for the annual Bumper To Bumper 300. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track:

 

Bumper To Bumper 300 Setup:
• Antigonish's own Donald Chisholm won this race in 2014 after starting on the pole at Riverside, a track owned by his family.
• Mark Dilley is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in all nine NASCAR Pinty's Series events at the track and won the inaugural event in 2007.
• Andrew Ranger leads Cayden Lapcevich by just five points with four races remaining on the schedule, while Alex Tagliani is 27 points out.

 

At Riverside International Speedway:
History
• Opened in 1969 as a .333-mile scaled version of Tennessee's .533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway.
• Played host to the former NASCAR North Tour in the early 1980s.
• Was completely rebuilt in 2006.
• Mark Dilley won the inaugural NASCAR Pinty's Series race at Riverside on Sept. 16, 2007. Peter Gibbons captured the first Riverside pole.

 

Notebook
• The previous nine events have produced seven different race victors, led by D.J. Kennington and Scott Steckly with two triumphs between them.
• There have been five different pole winners in nine events, topped by three from Scott Steckly.

• Alex Labbe won from the pole last weekend in an exciting finish with rookie Cayden Lapcevich. It was Labbe's first career win.

• Andrew Ranger retook the points lead and also became the first multi-race winner of the season with his third win at ICAR two weeks ago.

• Alex Tagliani was able to hold off Andrew Ranger in a green-white-checkered finish in the series return to the road course in Toronto for his second win of the season.

• Alex Tagliani took the lead on Lap 88 and remained out front the rest of the way to score his second consecutive win and third of the season at Edmonton. Tagliani will try and become the first driver since Scott Steckly in 2013 to win three NPS races in a row.

• After finishing second twice earlier this season, Josten's Rookie of the Year contender Cayden Lapcevich scored his first series win at Wyant Group Raceway. He also became the youngest winner in the history of the series.

• Kevin Lacroix set a new track record in qualifying and went on to lead every lap at Trois-Rivieres to pick up his second straight win at the historic road course and third win of his career.

Bilan de mi-saison en Sportsman Qc



Le vendredi 19 août aura lieu à l'Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction le 6e programme du calendrier de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil. Avec 10 programmes au calendrier, nous voilà déjà à la mi-saison et rien n'est joué pour aucun pilote.

Maintenant des car count au-dessus de 20 voitures depuis le début de la saison, le programme de ce vendredi ne fera pas exception avec la présence confirmée de 23 pilotes. Commandité par E. Boudreault VR, les pilotes participeront à 75 tours qui devraient vous permettre d'assister à un excellent spectacle de course.



Championnat régional Habitations Dany Lagacé

Le #33 Philippe Poulin de Saint-Prosper est actuellement en tête du championnat régional avec une confortable avance de 25 points. Avec seulement 2 points d'avance sur le #67 Dominic Jacques qui occupe le 3e rang, est-ce que le #41 Samuel Charland nous fera la surprise d'être présent afin de conserver sa 2e position au classement du championnat régional? Occupant le 4e rang du championnat, le pilote d'expérience, le #81 Dave Trevors pourrait bien venir brouiller les cartes. C'est le #17 Jimmy Nadeau de Beauceville qui complète ce top 5. Seulement 8 points le distance de Charland; rien n'est joué !






Dominic Jacques en tête du championnat provincial

Lors du dernier programme à l'Autodrome Saint-Félicien, le #67 Dominic Jacques est allé chercher une mince avance de 2 points au championnat sur le #33 Philippe Poulin. Pour les ex-champions, chaque point sera déterminant et ils devront se montrer patients en piste afin de se tenir parmi les meneurs.

En 3e position, on retrouve le #17 Jimmy Nadeau, l'actuel meneur au titre de M. Autodrome Montmagny. Avec 528 points donc, seulement 4 points sur la première position, le programme de ce vendredi pourrait être un point tournant. Réussira-t-il à se positionner en tête du classement ?

Le #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque a à son actif 3 podiums en 5 programmes et se retrouve au 4e rang du championnat provincial. Pilote discipliné en piste, il est sans aucun doute un pilote qui pourrait sortir vainqueur du programme de vendredi.

Pour conclure le top 5 du championnat provincial, on retrouve en 5e position le #40 Sylvain Labbé de St-Joseph de Beauce. Labbé qui a participé à 76 courses en Sportsman Qc a nommé recrue de l'année en 2008 et a remporté le championnat de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil en 2010. Un pilote d'expérience qui reprend le volant pour une saison complète en 2016 avec déjà une victoire en banque et un 2e podium. Pilote à surveiller, réussira-t-il à battre les Poulin, Jacques, Nadeau et Labrecque?



Qu'en est-il de nos recrues?

Le #56 Charles Bernier occupe actuellement le premier rang du championnat des recrues Méchoui International avec 2 points d'avance sur ses plus proches rivaux. Pilote qui connait son lot de malchance depuis le début de la saison, il fera assurément tout en son pouvoir pour conserver sa position actuelle. Il est suivi du #48 Dave Caron qui a été nommé meilleure recrue lors de la dernière course. Caron connait très bien le tracé de Vallée-Jonction pour y avoir coursé l'an dernier en Semi Pro. En 3e position, on retrouve le #88 Xavier Pelchat de Saint-Félicien. Âgé de seulement 14 ans, le pilote poursuit son apprentissage lui qui pilotait en amateur l'an dernier.

Quoi qu'il en soit, avec plus d'une dizaine de pilotes en piste qui sont en mesure de remporter la victoire, dont le #84 Martin Latulippe, ces 75 tours E. Boudreault VR sauront sans aucun doute être à la hauteur du spectacle que les Sportsman Qc sont en mesure de vous offrir.

-Autodrome Granby. Ce vendredi 19 août, nous accueillerons pour la première fois de la saison les voitures Modlite en plus de nos Modifiés qui courront pour de précieux points de championnat, nos Sportsman et Prostock. 

 

Modifié Metalia 50 tours avec points de championnat

Les frères Bernier fuient encore le reste de la cohorte avec François #1* et Steve #25* en haut du classement de Granby. Steve Bernard #54 suit en troisième, mais domine le cumul Granby/RPM. Dominic Dufault #63 et Kayle Robidoux #46,4ème et 5ème voudront changer leur sort en performant bien ce vendredi et aller récolter des points supplémentaires.

 

Sportsman Metalia 30 tours

Nous aurons droit à un nouveau Sportsman, un visage bien connu de la terre battue Francis Méthot #55 qui quitte la série STR. Méthot s'est procuré l'ancienne voiture Sportsman de Jonathan Archambault #24. Rappelons-nous que Francis avait gagné chez nous la finale STR le 17 juin dernier. Martin Hébert #43 continue sa parfaite conquête du championnatavec que des tops 5 à son tableau. Dany Gagné #90 et Martin Pelletier #92 continuent de le suivre avec les Alex Salvas #8et Lajoie #33 à leurs trousses. 

 

Prostock 25 tours

Jocelyn Roy #48 et Stéphane Lemire #115 poursuivre leur lutte pour le championnat devant Bruno Cyr #33, Steve Chaput #38 et Guy Viens #15. Roy et Lemire dominent également le cumul Granby/RPM avec une grande avance. 

 

Modlite 20 tours

Benjamin Cartier #22B a une mince avance de trois points sur Kevin Burke #91 dans leur championnat. Réjean Lemieux #30, Richard Tessier # 85 et Michael Dion #5 les suivent dans l'ordre. L'an dernier, Lemieux #30 avait gagné la course chez nous devant Martin Fleurent #52 et Cartier #22B. Nous devrions nous attendre à un peloton de plus d'une quinzaine de voiture dont deux femmes la vétérane Karine Thibault #74K et la recrue Allyson Prince #56.

Pinty's Series News & Notes: Riverside

Time for Annual Visit to High-Banked Oval in Nova Scotia

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 16, 2016) – In the 10-year history of the NASCAR Pinty's Series, one stop everyone looks forward to is Riverside International Speedway for the Bumper To Bumper 300.

The race will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 and once again feature 300 laps of side-by-side competition on the fast .333-mile speedway.

 

Among the favorites expected to contend for the win will be current points leader Andrew Ranger. Ranger won the season-opener at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, and he has remained out front in the standings thanks to a pair of wins during the first half of the season.

 

The Roxton Pond, Quebec, native has success at Riverside, scoring a victory there in 2009. He enters the weekend looking to become the third driver to earn multiple victories in Nova Scotia.

 

Another driver scheduled to compete this weekend is D.J. Kennington, who has multiple wins at Riverside. The St. Thomas, Ontario, driver picked up his first win in 2010 and followed with a victory in the 2012 race. His victories at Riverside have been a good omen in the past, as he scored both of his NASCAR Pinty's Series championships in the same season he scored his wins at the fast oval.

 

Veteran Mark Dilley won the inaugural NASCAR Pinty's Series race held at Riverside International Speedway in 2007 and holds record for most top-fives (seven) and top-10 (nine) finishes at the track. Dilley also is the only driver to finish in the top-10 at Riverside in every start.

 

Jason Hathaway is also slated to race and will go for his second win at the speedway. The veteran picked up his lone win at Riverside in 2013. He and Kennington will enter the weekend as the only two drivers in series history to start every race.

 

Cayden Lapcevich and Alex Tagliani enter this race second and third in the standings, respectively, with each driver picking up at least one win on an oval track this season.

FAST FACTS:
The Race: The 10th annual Bumper To Bumper 300 will be the ninth of 12 championship points events on the 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule, and the lone trip of the season to the province of Nova Scotia and Riverside International Speedway.

The Procedure: The maximum starting field is 24 cars, including provisionals. The first 21 cars will have secured starting positions based on two lap time trials and the remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race is scheduled for 300 laps (99.99 miles) and is an impound race with two change tires allowed.

The Track: Riverside International Speedway originally opened in 1969 and was modeled after legendary Bristol Motor Speedway. In 2006, the track was completely demolished and rebuilt with a new racing surface, concrete walls, lighting, grandstands and control tower. Like its U.S. counterpart in eastern Tennessee, Riverside features high-banked turns, but here they are 14 degrees. The frontstretch is 440 feet long with banking of six degrees while the backstretch is also 440 feet but with five-degree banking.

Pole Winners: The first eight Riverside races have produced five different pole winners, led by Scott Steckly's three. D.J. Kennington set the track record last year on Aug. 15, 2015 of 14.429 seconds, 83.803 mph.

Race Winners: There have been seven different winners in the first nine Pinty's Series events at Riverside. Only Kennington has two triumphs.

Bumper To Bumper 300 Notes: 
Championship Chase Remains Tight:  Just five points separates Andrew Ranger and Cayden Lapcevich in the championship standings with only four races remaining in the season. It's no surprise to see Ranger atop the standings as he's a two-time series champion (2007 & 2009), however, Lapcevich is having a breakout season and currently leads the battle for the Josten's Rookie of the Year title. The 16-year-old driver celebrated his first career series win in July and has been in the runner-up position in the standings all season long.

Lacroix Enters Race Hot: Quebec's Kevin Lacroix enters the Bumper To Bumper 300 as the most recent winner on the Pinty's Series schedule after a dominating victory at Trois-Rivieres last Sunday. He enters this race having won two of the last three E3 Spark Plug pole awards and will attempt to get his first win on an oval Saturday at Riverside.

Chisholm Returns Looking For Second Win: Donald Chisholm will have plenty on the line Saturday, as he looks to become the second driver to record a win at his home track. The Antigonish, Nova Scotia native rolled to a dominating win in 2014 his first career Pinty's Series triumph. The series, which contests the bulk of its events in Ontario and Quebec, annually makes trips to western Canada in addition to the Maritimes and Riverside.

Des hauts et des bas pour Valérie Chiasson au GP3R !




 

Le 15 août 2016.- Inscrite dans deux séries (soit quatre courses) à l'affiche du populaire Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, dont la quarante-septième édition a eu lieu le week-end dernier, Valérie Chiasson a pris part aux épreuves de la Coupe Nissan Micra aux commandes de la Nissan Micra S du Groupe Nissan Gabriel. Pour la pilote québécoise, il s'agissait d'abord et avant tout de retrouver les avant-postes. Une mission qui aurait sans doute été possible en course n'eut été de différents incidents.

 

Ayant manqué quatre épreuves en début de saison, Valérie n'a pas la possibilité de terminer parmi les premiers au championnat cette saison, comme ce fut le cas l'an dernier alors qu'elle avait conclu la saison au sixième rang final, avec un podium à la clé. Sa participation au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, devant des dizaines de milliers de spectateurs qui ont pu voir en action la voiture du Groupe Nissan Gabriel, visait donc avant tout de prendre du plaisir en piste dans le peloton des vingt-cinq pilotes réunis pour l'événement, et tenter de décrocher de nouveaux "Top 10".

 

Qualifiée quatorzième en vue de la course de samedi, Valérie confiait devoir ce résultat essentiellement en raison du trafic en piste : « je n'ai malheureusement pas eu un tour "clair", c'est à dire faire un tour sans être au milieu du trafic d'autres concurrents. Les écarts sont très faibles en Coupe Nissan Micra, c'est très disputé. Si on perd une demi seconde, on recule de cinq ou six positions immédiatement » confie-t-elle.

 

En course, elle a toutefois été en mesure de gagner trois places pour terminer l'épreuve au onzième rang. « C'était intense, les batailles dans le peloton étaient vraiment amusantes, je pense qu'on a tous donné un excellent spectacle pour le public dans les estrades. Il y a eu quelques contacts et j'ai été pénalisée par les officiels lorsque j'ai mis quatre roues hors piste pour éviter un concurrent en avant de moi qui venait de manquer son changement de vitesses. C'est incompréhensible d'être pénalisée pour ça mais ce n'est pas très grave. Pour moi, il est plus important d'agir de manière sécuritaire en évitant l'accrochage avec un autre pilote » précise Valérie, reléguée ainsi en fond de classement suite à cette pénalité, puis une seconde pour un contact avec un adversaire dans cette course décidemment très spectaculaire !

 

Le lendemain, toujours sur une piste sèche malgré les épisodes pluvieux tout autour de Trois-Rivières, la pilote du Groupe Nissan Gabriel débuta la course depuis la sixième ligne sur la grille de départ. Au quatrième virage, elle fut heurtée à l'arrière par deux pilotes qui venaient de s'accrocher. Fort heureusement, elle est parvenue à garder sa position mais un souci mécanique est venu contrarier son parcours peu après. « Le moteur s'est mis à tourner sur trois cylindres seulement, ce qui a bien sûr compromis mon résultat. Je suis néanmoins satisfaite d'avoir pu rallier l'arrivée même si c'est seulement en treizième place » a expliqué la pilote québécoise, par ailleurs seule représentante canadienne de la commission "Women in Motorsport" de la Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, qui encourage la participation féminine en sport automobile.

 

Le prochain rendez-vous de Valérie Chiasson en Coupe Nissan Micra est fixé à dans trois semaines, avec deux nouvelles courses présentées sur le circuit ontarien de Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park). « La Nissan Micra S du Groupe Nissan Gabriel était vraiment bien préparée à Trois-Rivières, l'équipe technique de Total Canada avait une fois encore fait du très bon travail. J'ai hâte que cette collaboration se concrétise avec une bonne performance à Mosport, les 3 et 4 septembre prochains » a conclu Valérie Chiasson.
