Corliss, Linardy Post First Official ACT Full-Season Entries

Waterbury, VT –Barre, VT's Jason Corliss and Somerville, MA's Jim Linardy have filed the first official full season entries for the American Canadian Tour's (ACT's) 2017 season. The 10-race ACT Late Model Tour Championship will kick off on Sunday, April 9 with the New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway.

Corliss hopes to carry forward his late-season momentum, after finishing as runner-up in the 2016 Vermont Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in October. Always a quiet, steady competitor, Corliss cut his racing teeth at Thunder Road, capturing the Street Stock title early in his career, moving through the Tiger Sportsman division, and eventually on to the ACT Late Models. With support of owner Chris Burnett and Burnett Scrap Metals, the #66VT team is setting their sights on top of the ACT standings in 2017.

"Chris (Burnett) has provided me with an exciting opportunity for these past couple of seasons, and with the dedication of my crew, I can't wait for the first green flag of the season!" said an excited Corliss. "Racing is my passion, and to be able to compete at this level is certainly the realization of a dream for me", he concluded.

Based in Somerville, MA, Jimmy Linardy and his #77MA crew are among the most popular teams in the pits at any ACT event. For more than a decade the Kayem Hot Dogs entry has been a familiar sight at ACT events on both sides of the border, and the positivity of the Linardy crew is infectious. With a new car currently being prepared, Linardy is anxious to get back on the track. "My crew and I have a great time at any and every event we attend – we are fortunate that our series enjoys the participation of such wonderful guys – it's like a family outing everywhere we go", said a smiling Linardy.

The ACT Late Model Tour will visit 8 different tracks throughout the Northeast during the 2017 season, with the traditional season-opener set for Lee USA Speedway on Saturday, April 9.

BARBERVILLE, FL – February 22, 2017 – The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds concluded their portion of the 46th Annual DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Parkon Tuesday night. Ten feature races over the course of seven days produced plenty of thrilling action and culminated in Nick Hoffman earning his second straight Big Gator as the DIRTcar UMP Modified Nationals champion.

Here are some of the more interesting facts and figures to come from a week of action at the World's Fastest Half-Mile.

1 – Number of points separating Big Gator champion Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, NC from second-place finisher Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, WV. Hoffman won the championship 489 points to 488.

2 – Wins by Jacob Hawkins at the 2017 DIRTcar Nationals. Hawkins won the first and last UMP Modified features.

10th Annual NASCAR Diversity Awards Spotlights Industry Efforts

Ten Honorees To Be Recognized For Their Commitment To Multicultural & Diversity

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2017) – From Daniel Suárez's historic NASCAR XFINITY Series championship to the efforts from NASCAR tracks, teams, sponsors and partners, the last year represented tremendous progress in the areas of diversity within the sport.

NASCAR and industry leaders will gather Thursday at the Daytona International Speedway to recognize those leading the efforts in shaping a multicultural sport with the 10th Annual NASCAR Diversity Awards.

"Diversity and multiculturalism is a top priority at NASCAR, and the NASCAR Diversity Awards is a great event to honor all those from across our industry who are making tremendous strides in this area," said NASCAR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian France. "As we continue to see more diversity on the track, in the boardroom and in the stands, we will see a rise in talent and we will appeal to an even wider fan base. We want to thank our stakeholders and partners for their dedication to the continued growth of our sport."

The NASCAR Diversity Awards will stream live on FansChoice.tv, beginning at 11 a.m.

To be recognized for their outstanding achievements will be:

• Daniel Suarez will receive the NASCAR Ignition Award, given to a minority or female NASCAR national series driver that demonstrates leadership both on and off the race track while making contributions to the advancement of the sport. In addition to being the first Mexican-born driver to win a race in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and becoming first foreign-born driver to win a NASCAR national series championship, Suarez has been active away from the track in reaching new young and diverse fans.

• Jesse Iwuji will be given the NASCAR Diverse Driver Award, given to a minority or female NASCAR developmental driver that exemplifies outstanding performance both on and off the race track in encouraging awareness and interaction with NASCAR and motorsports. A graduate of the Naval Academy and a first-generation Nigerian-American, Iwuji has has taken NASCAR directly to the community, whether it's raising Naval recruitment efforts, STEM education or support of NASCAR Green efforts at a local California school.

• Peri Karslioglu will receive the NASCAR Diversity Internship Participant Award, presented to the student who has exhibited outstanding performance and leadership skills in academics as well as during their experience in the NASCAR Diversity Internship Program. Karslioglu is a cum laude graduate of Syracuse University and interned with The NASCAR Foundation last year. Karslioglu impressed with her fresh perspective on social media and, industry engagement and marketing efforts, landing a full-time position with the Foundation as a marketing coordinator.

• ALPFA – the Association of Latino Professionals For America, will be presented the NASCAR Institution Award, which goes to a company that demonstrates a commitment to NASCAR diversity and inclusion goals through its program support and engagement with NASCAR. ALPFA has worked closely with NASCAR since 2014 to promote business-to-business efforts throughout the motorsports industry. Through exclusive events and at-track immersions, ALPFA has led the way in increasing Latino participation in key NASCAR programs.

• Hailie Deegan will be awarded the Young Racer Award, presented to a minority or female youth between the ages of 8-15 years old that has partaken in some form of competitive racing and has overcome adversity in pursuit of his or her dream of participating in the motorsports industry. The 15-year-old from Temecula, California, Deegan competed in 2016 for Rev Racing in a Legends car in the Bojangles Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway and was one of the youngest drivers to earn an invitation to the 2016 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine.

• Smithfield will receive the NASCAR Partner Award, given to a company that demonstrates a commitment to NASCAR diversity goals through its program support and engagement. With goals of making better communities throughout our county, Smithfield's sponsorship of Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) and driver Aric Almirola has amplified its outreach efforts and created a difference-making partnership. Last year, Smithfield and RPM partnered for school events in California and Illinois to promote staying in school, working directly with schools with a high-percentage of Hispanic and low-income students.

• Kenyatta Houston will be presented the NASCAR Diverse Crew Member Award. The award goes to a minority or woman crew member that inspires awareness of NASCAR through competitive performance and outreach activities. A former football player and 2005 graduate of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Pit Crew program, Houston has been to Victory Lane in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series. Outside the race track, Houston continues to give back to the community – from helping the Drive for Diversity Pit Crew program to train the next generation of crew members to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and Mooresville Christian Mission.

• Pocono Raceway will be presented the NASCAR Track Award. The award goes to a track that identified and activated programming geared toward engaging a multicultural fan base by utilizing staff, community outreach and track assets. The "Tricky Triangle" has made significant efforts to reach out to an increasingly diverse population in the Poconos. Last year, it added a Spanish-language promotion for its NASCAR XFINITY Series race and included a video spotlighting NASCAR Diversity intern Antonio Russo as part of its overall activation to highlight family participation.

• Patriot Motorsports/Circle Track Racing will receive the NASCAR Team Award. The award goes to a team that engaged driver, OEM and sponsor support to effectively reach fans on and off the track in support of NASCAR's diversity and inclusion goals. Circle Track Racing, owned by John Wood, a driver himself, has provided an opportunity for drivers to gain valuable seat time and experience. Wood and driver Jesse Iwuiji's Patriot Motorsports are actively involved in self-funded promotion and activation around the race weekends and have continued to go above and beyond in driving awareness to a young and diverse audience.

• Josh Avila will be recognized with the Industry Ambassador Award. The award spotlights a representative who displays a personal effort to incorporate multicultural initiatives as part of his or her job. Avila has made the track's multicultural initiatives a major focus for the last decade. Josh has built meaningful relationships with the Hispanic community and his successes have profound impact beyond his track. He spearheaded the first Spanish language section of the FanZone, incorporated Mexican celebrities and drivers into the track's events and media outreach, and has worked to expand the track's engagement with the Asian market.

The NASCAR national series championship season gets underway at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night with the NextEra Energy Resources 250 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, followed by Saturday's Powershares QQQ 300 for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The 59th running of the DAYTONA 500 will beSunday, with the green flag for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season at 2 p.m. ET, live on FOX, Motor Racing Network Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

AND THE DEGRASSI TV SHOWS TO APPEAR AT MOTORAMA

TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 21, 2017 • Some people are well known for doing one thing really well. While others become famous for excelling at more than one thing. In the case of Dan Woods, he definitely falls into the latter category.

The TV host / actor / writer / radio broadcaster / TV and film producer will be appearing all three days of the upcoming Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by Mothers. The show takes place March 10, 11 & 12 at The International Centre, across from Toronto's Pearson Airport.

Woods first came to be known to audiences, in 1987, playing the stern English teacher (and later principal), Mr. Raditch, on the Emmy Award-winning Degrassi television franchise (Degrassi Jr. High and Degrassi… The Next Generation), which continue to be broadcast around the globe.

In addition to acting, Woods – who originally hailed from Toronto – has a passion for automobiles. In 1997, he created, hosted, wrote and produced Classic Car Restorations, for Speed Channel.

And starting in 2003, this pioneer in automotive television was the host and driving force behind Chop Cut Rebuild, a documentary / 'how to' format show that featured the restoration and customization of the most popular classic cars in the genre. The show ran for 12 seasons, with more than 150 episodes to its credit. Since its creation, Chop Cut Rebuild has aired in upwards of 30 countries and continues to be televised on MAVTV.

Additionally, Woods has also overseen all aspects of production as Executive Producer for three other acclaimed TV series; Street Tuner Challenge,

American Seduction and First Crush.

While at Motorama, Woods will sign autographs and participate in some of the discussion panels and awards presentations on The Johnsonville Stage.

"I always love coming to Toronto and the opportunity to connect with fellow car lovers, at Motorama, is something I'm really looking forward to," said Woods, who first began tinkering with automobiles at his father's salvage yard in the city's west end. "Over the years, I've worked on the restoration of more than 40 classic or custom cars, so I'm sure we'll have a lot to talk about – in terms of shared experiences and passions – at Motorama."

Speaking on behalf of Motorama, Greg MacPherson said, "Car lovers everywhere know and love Chop Cut Rebuild. And most Canadians grew up watching the Degrassi TV shows, which makes Dan doubly interesting to the people who will be at the show. King Krup: Illinois Native Earns First Career Gator

BARBERVILLE, FL – February 20, 2017 – Will Krup was the man of the hour as he found a way to Victory Lane despite the strong field of UMP Modified contenders who were hungry for sweet victory during the second Gator Championship qualifying race during the 46th DIRTcar Nationals Sunday night. During the 20-lap feature, the top-five positions were juggled between Krup, polesitter Derek Fisher, Jacob Hawkins, Brian Ruhlman, Jeff Leka and Kenny Wallace.

Krup raced from third to take the lead late in the race and earn his first win of the 2017 DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park. The victory was the second of the day for the Elite Chassis team after Krup's teammate, Nick Hoffman, won the first qualifying race of the day.

"I've got this car going really good," said Krup "Nick [Hoffman] he's got his car going and he's going to be a tough competitor to go against. We'll have to see what happens [tomorrow]."

Wallace battled fought his way from the ninth starting spot to finish third. He was outdone as the hard charger of the evening as Todd Neiheiser passed 19 cars on route from 26th to seventh.

"I'm really happy," said Wallace. "We started ninth. The bottom was slimy and I think I was the first one to find the middle."

"The thing about dirt racing is you can't ever slow up because you know people are coming behind you. You're just looking to fill every hole. You just have to keep digging. I'm happy with a third."

Hawkins, of Fairmont, WV, earned the runner-up spot after starting fourth. It added to his strong week, that includes a win on Tuesday night.

"The car was good," Hawkins said. "The 98 [of Fisher] and the 9 [of Krup] were battling hard middle to bottom, so I figured [the top] was my only shot to make my own lane. We fought hard. Congratulations to Will Krup, he deserves it."

Prior to Krup's A-Main triumph, Ruhlman set quick time in group time trials with a lap of 18.121 seconds, the fastest qualifying time of the week.

Krup, Hawkins, Fisher of Olympia, Ky, and Jeff Leka of Buffalo, Ill., earned heat race victories. All drivers qualified for the main event.

The top ten finishers of the feature will be in the running for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds event at Volusia Speedway Park on Monday for their biggest race of the week, the 30-lap and $5,000-to-win Gator Championship along with a 30-lap main event for the DIRTcar Late Models.

Bassett Breaks Through For First Win At New Smyrna

Drives Away With NASCAR K&N Pro East Opener

NEW SMYRNA, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2017) -- A year after coming up just short at New Smyrna Speedway, Ronnie Bassett Jr. walked away with the Jet Tools 150 Sunday night for his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory.

In his 40th career start, Bassett led the final 42 laps – the first laps he's led in the series – and out-distanced runner-up Zane Smith by 3.563 seconds to win.

Bassett started seventh and by Lap 108 had moved the No. 04 Bassett Gutters and More Ford to the front. He used a strong restart to pass his brother Dillon Bassett for the race lead.

"I was just watching the restarts," said Ronnie Bassett, "and I picked a spot in the two lines, and I went after it, and I guess my brother spun his tires a little bit."

Ronnie Bassett finished third at New Smyrna last season and is the only driver that was entered into Sunday's race that has competed in all four series visits to the Florida half-mile.

"We work extremely hard to make these race cars good every weekend," Ronnie Bassett said. "We've had some good runs. We've finished second, third, fourth and fifth, but we've just never been able to capture the deal, and tonight, I guess was our night and we were able to get it done."

Smith, making his NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut, was fastest overall in practice but had to start his No. 43 Diamondback Towing Toyota in the 25th position after his qualifying run was disallowed for an infraction.

"The car was good," Smith said. "Still mad at myself for the qualifying deal, but I cannot thank everyone enough for all they did getting this thing on rails, and I really think if we were able to start up front, it'd be a different story."

Derek Kraus, Harrison Burton and Travis Cope rounded out the top five. Earlier in the day, Burton captured his second 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented by Coors Brewing Co.

Reid Wilson finished sixth, followed by Hunter Baize, Chase Purdy, Todd Gilliland and Spencer Davis.

Gilliland, the defending race winner, blew a tire on Lap 103 while leading. Davis, who qualified second, was penalized on the opening lap for jumping the race's initial start. Dillon Bassett led a race-high 79 laps but finished 24th after being involved in a late-race accident.

The Jet Tools 150 will air on NBCSN on Saturday, February 25 at 10 a.m.

Up next on the schedule for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at South Carolina's Greenville Pickens Speedway on Saturday, April 8.

Selon des informations... 2e fois cette semaine une voiture quitte le circuit de Volusia et se retrouve de l'autre côté de la clôture. 3 spectateurs de blessés, un a été gravement blessé et transporté par hélicoptère à l'hôpital. BARBERVILLE, Fla. – At least one fan was injured and flown to a local hospital after Dale Blaney’s sprint car flipped out of the track at Volusia Speedway Park on Sunday night. Blaney was involved in an incident with Rico Abreu and Jason Sides early in Sunday’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature at the half-mile oval. Blaney’s sprint car flipped over the catch fence at the exit of turn two and into an area where spectators gather to watch the race. At least one spectator was severely injured, which led to a medical helicopter landing on the backstretch to transport them to a local hospital. Blaney, Abreu and Sides all walked away from the incident and were not injured.

Nouveau pilote en Mini Sportsman Qc

La série Mini Sportsman Méchoui International accueillera pour la saison 2017 quelques nouveaux pilotes dont le #69 Vincent Rivard de Charlesbourg.

Le jeune pilote de 9 ans a été initié au karting en 2015 ou il a terminé 13e sur 22, incluant enfants et adultes. C'est un passionné de moteurs !

Son père, Marco Rivard, étant un fervent passionné de course automobile et mécanicien de formation a initié Vincent très jeune à tout de ce qui était véhicule motorisé. Vincent chérissait un rêve; celui de devenir pilote. Ses parents ont donc décidé de l'aider à réaliser son rêve en faisant l'acquisition de l'ancienne voiture de WylliamPerron.

Il ne prend pas à la légère sa venue dans la série Mini Sportsman Méchoui International. Ayant pris le temps de lire le livre de règlements et de procédures de courses afin de sensibiliser Vincent aux règles de courses en plus d'écouter plusieurs vidéos de Mini Cup, il n'a aucun doute que notre nouveau pilote ne rêve que d'une chose; prendre enfin le volant de sa voiture Mini Sportsman.

Langley To Host NASCAR Touring & Weekly Series In 2017

Newly Re-opened Virginia Track Adds NASCAR K&N Pro East and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2017) – Bill Mullis made the big news announcement Friday: He had purchased Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia, and the historic track will re-open in 2017 to racing.

Sunday afternoon, Mullis continued the good news for racers and race fans. He announced the .4-mile oval will host the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and newly unified NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this season. In addition, the track will return to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with its weekly racing program.

"It's been a long process," said Mullis. "But I grew up racing at Langley and know the value of the track to the community, so it's been a very worthwhile process. Once we got the paperwork finalized for the sale, we worked very quickly with NASCAR to assure our fans and drivers that we remain committed to bringing NASCAR racing back to Hampton in a big way."

"Langley Speedway has been a longtime member of NASCAR and the facility lends itself to great racing – whether it's the Late Models on Saturday night, or the K&N Pro Series or Whelen Modified cars," said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president for weekly & touring series. "We've worked with Bill in the past and we welcome the opportunity to extend our partnership. The return of Langley is a win not only for their local community, but for NASCAR fans everywhere."

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will race at Langley on Saturday, May 13, while the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will make its return on Saturday, Sept. 2.

This is the first year of the unified NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, combining the northern-based tour with the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour under one series. The former Whelen Southern Modified Tour made eight stops at Langley between 2010 and 2015, with Burt Myers and George Brunnhoelzl III scoring two wins apiece. Two of the last three races there featured a pass for the win in the final two laps.

Langley also proved to be an accurate predictor of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship, as all three race winners from 2013-15 went on to win the title, including current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers Ben Rhodes (2014) and William Byron (2015).

The inaugural K&N pro East race at Langley in 2011 featured 2017 DAYTONA 500 entrants Matt DiBenedetto, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman and Corey LaJoie. LaJoie won the 2012 race at Langley, which featured Elliott becoming the youngest pole winner in series history to that point.
