Track Titles up for Grabs When Peterborough Speedway Goes Green for 2017
By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media
Every time they take the green flag, weekly short track drivers and race teams aren't just looking for a trip to victory lane. They're out to earn valuable points that could pave the way to an overall season championship. As Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval gets set to kick-off its 50th Anniversary season, Peterborough Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says claiming this year's crown will be a monumental occasion.
"It will be a huge celebration for the fans as well as the drivers and the teams that capture the 2017 titles will earn their rightful place in our history books," Josiasse said. "Our 5 weekly divisions always put their best effort into every lap they turn, but I'm sure that with the prestige of being a 50th Anniversary track champion, they'll all be giving a little extra push week after week."
With a strong field – including his brother Jake – following his every move, Jeremy Kelly knows he'll face a tough challenge as he looks to earn his second-straight Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun championship. Kelly, who works as an independent filmmaker brings a group of family, friends and fans to the track and they love celebrating with their favourite driver.
After playing a starring role in one of the best fender-to-fender Late Model feature race finishes of 2016, Tyler Betts will be looking to become the first title-holder in the track's headline division under its new sponsorship from Organics Glass. The driver of the #86 machine says that he and his team spent some long hours in the shop during the off-season and will be counting the days until opening night.
A brief absence will end on the opening night of the 2017 campaign, as former Thunder Car track champion Anthony DiBello returns to the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City. It'll be a father and son duo, with Fedele DiBello joining his son in the weekly wars.
He captured the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock championship and made selected Thunder Car starts last year, but James Townsend will revise his racing role for the 50th Anniversary Season at Peterborough Speedway. The 26 year-old from Fraserville, Ontario plans to concentrate on running the Thunder Car full-time and will enter a limited number of Mini Stock shows in 2017.
Josiasse and his team have been busy behind the scenes, putting together a series of promotional events to celebrate the track's 50th Anniversary. Officials recently announced a program that will see each weekly class run a 50 lap main event during the regular season and top 10 shootouts for all divisions at the regular season-ending Championship Clash. The track will also have displays at the Peterborough Home, Cottage and Country Show – March 31st to April 2nd – at the Evinrude Centre and at the Lindsay Square Mall, April 23rd through 30th.
Bullring bullet points: Keep on top of all the 50th Anniversary news at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval by logging onto www.peterboroughspeedway.com, liking the track on Facebook or following it on Twitter. Fans can also download the free Peterborough Speedway app on your Smartphone.

THE 2017 SERIE ACT SEASON IS VERY PROMISSING
Montréal, QC – 2017-03-11 – The Managing Director responsible for the Quebec auto racing association for asphalt stock car championship Late Models, Série ACT, confirmed he was very happy with the meeting at Trois-Rivières this past weekend.
Marc Patrick Roy, the Managing Director for Série ACT, who was present in Trois-Rivières for the meeting, declared that the participation at the meeting went waybeyond his expectations. "The 37 people representing 22 teams in attendance, is beyond our initial expectations. Add to those present 6 other teams who had informed us of their absence, ahead of time, and I can confirm, beyond any doubt, that the competitors have a huge interest in our races and in the continued presence of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) sanction in Quebec."
In addition to discussions around race day procedures and specific items in the rule book, Roy took the time to listen to the teams on various subjects in order to address, as best as possible, their challenges, with the ultimate objective of offering the best possible stock-car racing for the fans, while taking in consideration the economic realities associated with campaigning for an elite Championship.

TIGER SPORTSMAN TIRES ARE FREE
AT SPEEDWAY 51 IN 2017
WHAT OTHER TRACKS IN THE NORTHEAST ARE GIVING FREE TIRES TO THEIR RACERS? None, and that's why the 2017 season is looking super strong at the high banked, ¼ mile paved Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire as the Tiger Sportsman will be the premiere division at the track in 2017.
The Tiger Sportsman tried running used Late Model tires in 2016 at the tail end of the season. The drivers were ecstatic about the way their racecars handled and the extra speed they got out of their racers. The best part was that the tires were free. Race teams were allowed to choose from a mountain of tires collected by the track and were not charged for the tires. There was a branding fee and all that money went into the drivers point fund. In 2017 it will be the same deal for race teams, free tires and branding money goes directly to the point fund. The 2017 Tiger Sportsman champion is expected to receive a check for approximately $3,000.
The North Country Ford late Models will be returning for a giant five race Series in 2017, a Series that will pay solid purses and offer a significant point fund to the top drivers. Interest is at a high level, and many of the teams that have been sitting on the sidelines for a couple of seasons are coming back to compete at Speedway 51. The North Country Ford Late Model Series fits many racers plans for this year as it features a schedule that is great for the low budget teams that can't afford to run a full season, also teams that like more family time in the summer are excited. The purses are great, and the tire bill to run the full Series is only about $2,000.
Right now final touches are being done on the regular race schedule, go-karts, and the car show schedule. The 2017 racing season gets underway on Saturday, May 6th at 6pm. Many sponsorship packages are available at various prices. Get your businesses on board for the 2017 race season. For more information on Speedway 51, or to inquire about the numerous packages that are being offered, contact Dick Therrien at 802-274-8823, or Jon Dunkling at 802-371-8132. See the entire schedule of events on our website, and for more information on this event and others, please visit our website at www.speedway51int.com, or call the Track hotline at 802-479-2074. Speedway 51 is located on Craggy Road in Groveton, New Hampshire.

PASS South Title Contenders Prepare For Orange County Return
CHARLOTTE, NC (March 8) – As Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model racers from across the Carolinas prepare for the series long awaited return to Orange County Speedway on Saturday, March 25th, a great championship battle is heating up following the first two races of the season. Heading into the upcoming "Original" Orange Blossom Special, points leader Bradley McCaskill and former PASS South champions, Matt Craig and Tate Fogleman, are only separated by two points. As a matter of fact, the top 11 drivers in points only have 42 points between them.
Following his recent win in the Dogwood 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park, Matt Craig looks forward to the next stop for a number of reasons, including the opportunity to get a guaranteed starting spot in the 44thAnnual Oxford 250 with a win and a shot at the $25,000 top prize come last weekend in August.
"It was good to win with the new style Hamke car and be the first one to win with it," says Craig. "We broke something at Dillon and we just nursed it to the finish, so we know we have good speed."
After a tight battle throughout the season in 2016 with Kodie Conner, Craig was able to prevail and capture the championship. But, he knows it will be no easy task to become the first two-time winner of the South's oldest Super Late Model championship.
"Getting the PASS South championship was a big boost of confidence for all of us, but it's a new year and we want more trophies," said Craig. "I hope that us, the 18 [McCaskill], Fogleman, Conner, and the 29 [Spencer Davis] can go at it all year and make it a good show, but we plan to run this well the whole season in PASS."
In addition to the PASS South championship, the Orange Blossom Special will serve as the second race of the PASS National Championship Series. 4-time PASS National champion, Ben Rowe, is in contention once again, along with Davis, McCaskill, Sarah Cornett-Ching, and Fogleman, and fellow New Englanders Dave Farrington, Jr. and Derek Griffith.
Action gets under way on Friday, March 24 for the "Original" Orange Blossom Special with rotating practice from 3 – 6 PMfor the PASS Super Late Models, Southern Modified Racing Series Tour Mods, and USAC Eastern Midgets. On Saturday, March 25, pit gates open at 11 AM, with rotating practice for from 1 – 3:30 PM, qualifying at 4 PM, the Pit Party at 5:45 PM and feature racing set to begin at 7 PM.
Entry forms for the Orange Blossom Special, along with the 44th Annual Oxford 250 and upcoming events at Thompson Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Oxford Plains Speedway and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com. The 2017 license forms for the PASS Super Late Models are also available at ProAllStarsSeries.com. Drivers purchasing licenses for the 2017 season will receive bonus points for each race they are pre-registered for and will also save money towards any events that they enter early.
The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the Easter Bunny 150 and the Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 at Hickory Motor Speedway and the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway. For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com. Please visit ProAllStarsSeries.com for more information and don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter at @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

Devil's Bowl Speedway "Facebook Live" Talk Show Keeping Off-Season Fun
"Let's Talk Racing!" show has made over 330,000 Facebook impressions since December
For Immediate Release
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The winter months are usually not much fun for stock car racing fans in the Northeast, but Devil's Bowl Speedway in snowy Vermont is changing that. A weekly live talk show called "Let's Talk Racing!" – airing every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on Facebook's "Live" video platform – has kept fans and racers engaged in an upbeat, interactive program through positive use of social media.
Track promoter Mike Bruno and media director Justin St. Louis host the one-hour show on Devil's Bowl Speedway's official Facebook page. Since debuting onDecember 15, "Let's Talk Racing!" has become a place to discuss news and information at the Rutland County facility, but the show has not been limited in its focus. The hosts have a list of topics, but viewers are encouraged to have an active part in the show by posting questions and comments during the broadcast. Several drivers have been guests, and a few episodes have been broadcast live on location from drivers' race shops and garages. The planned guest for Thursday, March 9, is Lyle DeVore, promoter of Howard Commander's famed Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley Speedways in New York State.
The show is free to watch and participate in. Production is extremely low-budget – no money has been spent to date, in fact – and the show is simply streamed via cell phone camera. Through its first 12 weeks, "Let's Talk Racing!" has gathered an average weekly audience of nearly 3,000 unique viewers and well over 330,000 impressions on Facebook via shares, likes, and comments.
"I give Mike all the credit – the show was his idea," St. Louis said. "I don't think either one of us expected it to take off as quickly as it has. The viewers and the drivers have been a lot of fun and we plan to keep the show going in some form or another through the racing season this summer."
Bruno has been pleasantly surprised by the reach that the show has had. "We've heard from viewers from all over the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, England, and Brazil. It's pretty amazing to think about," Bruno said. "It's not intended to be a Hollywood production; it's just a fun thing to do and it really has given us something to look forward to during the winter. People watch to have a good time and to talk about something they love, whether they come to Devil's Bowl or not. That was our only goal in the first place."
"Let's Talk Racing!" airs Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on Devil's Bowl Speedway's official Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/
Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2. For more information, visitwww.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112. Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at Facebook.com/
