Lee USA Opens ACT's 2017 Season



Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) is set to open its 26thseason of ACT Late Model racing, and its 34thseason of late model racing at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 23 with the annual New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150, which was postponed due to weather from its originally scheduled early April date.  As in years past, the 2017 opener will give teams and fans a preview of competitors to watch during the coming race season.


The fast 1/3 mile at Lee has always offered an exciting kick-off to the season, with the previous 14 ACT Late Model Tour events serving up 13 different winners, with the back-to-back wins of multi-time Series Champion Brian Hoar in 2011 and 2012 standing as the only repeat winner.  In 2016, Scott Payea, driving for the familiar RPM team (which was part of the Brian Hoar successes), stood on top of the podium after a hiatus of several years from racing. 

Looking to mirror RPM's repeat successes in 2011 & 2012, Scott Payea is excited to return to Lee: "There's always a special excitement to the first event of any race season, and I would love to bring home back-to-back victories at Lee for my car owner, Rick, and get my season started off on the right foot!".  A popular man in the pits, the soft spoken Payea holds nothing back behind the wheel, and after finishing in the runner-up spot in the 2016 ACT standings, is prepared to elevate the RPM team's final standing just a bit.  But, with the return of Waterford, CT's Dillon Moltz in the #5CT, along with Barre, VT's Jimmy Hebert (Williamstown, VT)and Scott Dragon (Milton, VT),there is no question the competition will be fierce.  "Richard Green and our team are excited to get back on the track, we are looking forward to giving the ACT Tour a try, and Lee is a great place to kick off the season," said an excited Dragon.


From north of the border, the Quebec Série ACT will be well represented, with the inclusion of 3 former Champions, one hard charger, and a rookie driver.  All six will compete full time in the Quebec-based ACT group, and will include several US events in their 2017 schedule.  Of the group, Alex Labbe,(St. Albert, QC) ACT's 2014 ACT Serie Quebec Champion will be competing at Lee as he has since 2012.  Just days after his second career Xfinity start at Texas Motor Speedway, he will again be behind the wheel of the familiar #48QC Larue Snowplow machine.  Dany Trepanier (St-Edouard, QC)  (2015 Serie ACT Champion) plans his first visit to Lee USA, joined by 2-time Serie ACT Champion Donald Theetge of Quebec City.  Blainville, QC's Jonathan Bouvrette and rookie Mathieu Kingsbury are also geared up for the April 23rd Governor's Cup event.  Rounding out the contingent from La Belle Province is fan favorite #11 QC Claude Leclerc, kicking off his 40th year of stock car racing.


The New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway kicks off the 26th season of ACT Late Model racing on Sunday, April 23 at 2 pm.

Jessey Mueller will make his return to Airborne Park Speedway for the 2017 racing season

PLATTSBURGH- Jessey Mueller will make his return to Airborne Park Speedway for the 2017 racing season. The Olmsteadville driver returns after spending the last two seasons racing in the Capital District.
              Previously, Mueller participated in the 358-Modified division and 602-Sportsman division on the asphalt at Airborne where he was able to find some success. This season, he will return to Plattsburgh with a new Small Block 358-Modified. Mueller plans to run for the championship this season. 
              "I feel like we are at a point where we have the best equipment we've ever had," Mueller said. "I have a lot of confidence here and love the high banking, it fits my style."
              In addition to Airborne, Mueller will return as a regular at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway (Malta) in Ballston Spa. He will also hit the road to follow the DIRTcar 358-Modified Tour. The tour will begin August 11 and continue through October 14.Stops on the tour include Autodrome Granby, Le RPM Speedway and Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, Ontario tracks, Cornwall Speedway and Brockville Speedway and Mohawk International Raceway, Can-Am Motorsports Park, Utica-Rome Speedway, Weedsport Speedway, Brewerton Speedway and Oswego Speedway.
              The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series is also on the schedule, on a part-time basis for Mueller Motorsports. Having already competed in the DIRTcar Nationals at the Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, he will hit some of the more local shows including the show at Airborne on Thursday, July 6 but he will not be a regular in that series. 
              Mueller points towards his last two seasons at Malta as a reason why he has become confident behind the wheel on dirt. 
              "They have some of the best drivers in the northeast and competing against them has only made me a better driver."
              Jessey added that the change in surface will provide a challenge to the Airborne asphalt regulars. 
              "Dirt racing is much harder than asphalt," Mueller noted. "I learned that first hand in my first season at Malta."
              Sponsors are always an important part of racing and without good sponsors, this sport isn't possible. Mueller noted that he has some returning and some new sponsors. Sheehan Construction, Big Al's Sealcoating, Gioiosa's Wine & Spirits and Eric and Sherry Laundry of Freihofers. 
              "The Small Block is a lot of fun to drive and I love the facility, I'm looking forward to Airborne in 2017."

NAPLES, ME (April 5) – After a long winter break, one that got extended a week due to nearly a foot of snow, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model drivers from across New England and Canada are ready to tackle Connecticut's Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend for the first race of 2017. 

In addition to being the first action of the season for New England's top short trackers, The 43rd Annual Icebreaker also serves as part of the PASS National Championship Series.  Following the first two events held in the south at Dillon in February and Orange County in March, 4-Time PASS National Champion, Ben Rowe, finds himself out in front of the standings, but one driver believes Thompson could be his chance to cut into that advantage.  Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarcyzk currently sits sixth in the PASS National Championship and feels optimistic for his opportunity at The Icebreaker.

"It's exciting, I've never raced a Super Late Model there before," said Polewarcyzk, returning to the seat of the family-owned Pole's Automotive Ford #97 this weekend.  "It's fast, there's a lot of history there, and I'm excited to run one of these Super Late Models there.  It should be a lot of fun and it's always good to get the season going."

Polewarcyzk is coming off his best ever season competing in PASS, having won three North races in just a limited number of starts in 2017.  But it is at the big tracks, like Thompson, that Polewarcyzk believes he can stake his claim for a PASS National Championship.

"We've been fortunate and had some good runs at some of the bigger tracks and hopefully we can do the same at Thompson," says Polewarcyzk.  "It's got kinda short corners and long straightaways, so you've gotta get into the corners just right and come off the banking and drive it back down.  We've been there with a couple of cars, different types of cars, so hopefully that plays in a little bit and we can have an edge with experience."

In addition to Rowe, Polewarcyzk will be joined by fellow National Championship contenders Dave Farrington, Jr., Derek Griffith, and Sarah Cornett-Ching.  Defending Thompson winner, Garrett Hall, will be back looking for another win along with Oxford 250 winners, Travis Benjamin and Glen Luce, as well as former champions, Johnny Clark and DJ Shaw, and contenders Derek Ramstrom and Joey Doiron.

            Action gets under way at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 8 with rotating practice for all divisions.  On Sunday, April 9, gates will open at 9 AM and feature events set to go green at 12:35 PM.

Gilliland Set To Compete At Historic Greenville Pickens

·   Second Race Of 2017 For K&N Pro Series East

 

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (April 4, 2017) – As a third-generation driver, Todd Gilliland has an appreciation for the history of NASCAR.

 

Gilliland, who drives the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing, will be competing at a track with a rich heritage when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rolls into South Carolina's Greenville Pickens Speedway on Saturday.

 

The track held its first NASCAR race more than 60 years ago and was a traditional stop for NASCAR's premier series from 1955 to 1971. The history of the speedway is evident all around the track, with the names of past track champions painted on the concrete walls that surround the paved oval.

 

"It's really cool to see all the names on the wall, with the year that they won the championship," said Gilliland, who won a late model race at the half-mile track. "It's cool to see the names that won championships in the era when my grandpa was racing."

 

In the past 10 years, meanwhile, it's been the emerging stars of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East who have taken center stage at Greenville Pickens Speedway. Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, Darrell Wallace Jr., Corey LaJoie, and William Byron are among the talented young drivers to win in series competition there.

 

Gilliland – a native of California who lives in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina – aims to follow in their footsteps with success in his first K&N East race at the speedway.

 

Greenville Pickens recently repaved a portion of the track surface, from the center of the corner to half of the exit and Gilliland says he is anxious to test it out.

 

"It's going to be a new twist to the race track," he said. "I'm really looking forward to tackling that new surface."

 

Gilliland, a 16-year-old who is a member of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR's rising stars, finished ninth in the series season opener at New Smyrna Speedway in February, after battling back from flat tire while leading.

 

In the meantime, as the K&N West kicked off its season last month with four races in eight days, Gilliland had a dominant week – with three wins and a second-place finish.

 

This is Gilliland's first full season of competition in the K&N East. In 2016, he made just five starts in the series – while racing the full schedule in the K&N West, where he had a sensational season and won the championship as a rookie. He is tackling the full schedules in the East and West divisions of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this year.

 

Saturday's 150-lap race, which is slated to be televised on NBCSN on April 15 at 9 p.m. ET, is the second event on a 14-race series schedule. It marks the 17th visit by the series to the track, dating back to 2006.

Il me fait plaisir de vous présenter deux des pilotes qui seront présents à la 48e édition du Salon de l'Auto Sport de Québec au Centre de Foire d'Expo-Cité les 7, 8 et 9 avril prochain. 

Deux pilotes qui, bien qu'ils aient des profils différents, se retrouveront assurément parmi les meneurs de la saison 2017. 

Tout d'abord, Pier-Luc Labbé de Saint-Joseph de Beauce qui sera avec la série pour une 8e saison. Lui qui a terminé la saison 2016 avec une brillante victoire lors d'un 150 tours voudra assurément défendre son titre pour le Steve Lesage 150 qui cette année est le premier programme de la saison à l'Autodrome Montmagny. Pendant les années, nous avons pu le voir évoluer au sein de la Série et devenir un pilote de référence et fier représentant de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil sans oublier son implication au sein du comité des représentants des pilotes depuis plusieurs années. Malgré un budget restreint, il désire amener en piste une voiture compétitive à chaque programme. Labbé n'a pas de constructeur comme la majorité des pilotes. De la mécanique aux ajustements en passant par la géométrie, Pier- Luc est le seul artisan de la qualité de sa voiture et il en est fier. Pour 2017, on peut s'attendre à le voir en piste dans une voiture compétitive et qui pourrait bien le mener à la finale du Sportsman for the cup. 

Vous pourrez aussi rencontrer dans notre kiosque le #77 Mickaël Isabelle de Shannon entame quant à lui sa 3e saison avec la Série. Pilote recrue à sa première année en 2015, on peut dire qu'Isabelle s'est rapidement adapté et a su livrer de belles performances. Remportant son premier podium avec la Série le 19 août dernier, il est certain qu'il aimerait remonter sur le podium mais il vise en premier lieu la constance en étant compétitif à chaque programme et de cumuler le plus de tops 5 possible. Avec son équipe qui a travaillé très fort sur la voiture tout l'hiver, le pilote commandité par Garage Gilles Hamel/Hamel Récupération/Auto Globale Qc sera plus prêt que jamais à relever le défi. Une équipe familiale tissé serrée ayant comme chef d'équipe le père de Mickaël, Mario Isabelle et comme spotteur son cousin Marc-André Lesage. On ne peut pas oublier ses deux grands-pères, Jean-Guy Isabelle et Jacques-André Lesage qui le soutiennent depuis ses débuts. À eux s'ajoutent ses mécaniciens; Denis Dugas, Tony Morand et Martin Hamel qui mettent aussi beaucoup de temps sur la voiture. Le travail accompli portera sans aucun doute fruits afin de donner les résultats escomptés par l'équipe.

Pour la saison 2017, la série Mini Sportsman Méchoui International aura le plaisir de revoir en piste deux jeunes pilotes talentueux c'est-à-dire Nicolas Côté et William Gariépy.


D'abord, le #37 William Gariépy de Québec roulera pour une 2e saison à bord de sa voiture aux couleurs de Pavé Concept. William, qui aura 12 ans, a terminé au 3e rang l'an dernier et ce, malgré quelques malchances. Dès ses premiers tours, il nous a montré sa solidité en piste et son désir de performer remportant lors de son premier programme le trophée de l'Étoile du jour. Pour la saison 2017, William veut faire toujours de son mieux et ce malgré les problèmes qui pourraient survenir. Bien entendu, il veut monter sur la plus haute marche du podium et il sera en quête du championnat! Pour son plus grand plaisir, il partagera la piste les mêmes journées que son père, le #37 Dany Gariépy qui course avec la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil.  


Ensuite, présent pour une 3e saison consécutive, le pilote de la voiture #95 Nicolas Côté sera de retour sur le tracé de Montmagny après 1 an d'absence. À bord de sa voiture aux couleurs de Flash McQueen commandité principalement par Festidrag.tv/Létourno Service de Pneus et Mécanique et Zone911.com, notre vice-champions 2016 n'a qu'un envie ; retrouver le volant de sa voiture et se retremper dans le monde des courses automobiles où il a grandi. Lorsque Nicolas entre en piste, il a comme objectif de rouler de son mieux et terminer la course dans la meilleure position possible. Âgé de 9 ans, c'est un pilote rapide et déterminé qui sait se réjouir des accomplissements de ses pairs et apprendre d'eux.


Vous pourrez rencontrer nos deux pilotes au Salon de l'Auto Sport de Québec les 7, 8 et 9 avril prochain au Centre de Foire de Québec. Ils se feront un plaisir de vous montrer le nouveau design de leurs voitures et de vous saluer.


L'équipe d'officiels de la série Mini Sportsman Méchoui International a bien hâte de retrouver ses pilotes en piste !

Le printemps est enfin arrivé, et l'amateur de courses est fébrile et en

manque de sensations fortes. N'ayez crainte l'Autodrome Drummond vous

a concocté toute une saison 2017 voir le lien pour le calendrier complet sur le site de l'Autodrome.


Le promoteur, Yan Bussière jouera son rôle de promoteur sans se

préoccuper de son rôle de pilote pour la saison à venir. Et il est impatient

comme jamais de vous présenter une saison haute en couleur, avec des

événements qui, année après année font le succès de l'Autodrome

Drummond.


Heureux de l'entente entre les pilotes Modifiés et les 3 Autodromes

principaux concernant les bourses pour la saison à venir, pas moin de 20 à

25 pilotes de la classe vedettes seront en action les samedis soirs du côté

de l'Autodrome Drummond. Les équipes modifiés qui feront toutes les

courses à Drummondville auront droit à 2 passes de saisons gratuites. Le

titre de champion, laissé vacant par le promoteur lui-même, Yan Bussière

sera fortement convoité. Des pilotes réguliers tels que, Steve Bernard,

Dany Bilodeau, les frères Gino et Mario Clair, Sébastien Gougeon entre

autres aimeraient bien mettre le grappin sur le titre 2017.


Du côté de l'autre classe régulière, les Sportsman, ces derniers offrants

toujours un excellent spectacle, pas moins de 30 à 40 voitures sont

attendus les samedis soirs! 28 prendront part à la finale donc nous aurons

droit à toute une guerre pour se faufiler jusqu'à l'épreuve ultime. Plusieurs

font leur retour en compétition, Martin Michaud entre autres, ancien

champion Sportsman à Drummond prépare son retour. La série GMC crate

motors, sera aussi de retour pour les pilotes ayant disputé 4 courses avec

le tirage d'un moteur, gracieuseté de l'Autodrome et de Lussier Chevrolet.

Bryan Cloutier devra défendre son titre face à une meute de prétendants.


Autre nouveauté cette saison, le Minidrôme. La nouvelle petite piste au

centre de la piste principale sera en opérations cet été. On pourra y voir en

action les Slingshot entre autres. Le Minidrôme est une version miniature

de la grand piste, ce sera le rendez-vous pour la relève. 4 ou 5

programmes aura lieu les samedis soirs sur le Minidrôme.


Encore cette année, le promoteur André Fortier prépare une autre saison

de course du côté du Stadiaume de St-Guillaume, mais le championnat de

fin de saison se décidera à l'Autodrome Drummond le 17 septembre. C'est

un rendez-vous.


D'ici là, les passes de saison sont toujours disponibles pour la somme de

325$, une économie de 257$.


Si mère nature veut collaborer, on vous attends pour l'ouverture officielle le

6 mai prochain pour une 67e saison d'action à l'Autodrome Drummond.

La Série Sportsman bien représentée

C'est le week-end prochain soit les 7,8 et 9 avril qu'aura lieu la 48e édition du Salon de l'Auto Sport de Québec au Centre de Foire d'Expo-Cité. 

Encore une fois cette année, la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil ainsi que la Série Mini Sportsman Qc Méchoui International seront bien représentées. 

Situé auprès de son commanditaire principal Lucas Oil, nous retrouverons 3 voitures Sportsman soit les voitures du #25 Pier-Luc Labbé, du #37 Dany Gariépy et du #77 Mickaël Isabelle. Quant aux Mini Sportsman, ils seront représentés par la voiture du #37 William Gariépy, du #69 Vincent Rivard ainsi que du #110 Eliott Labbé-Pelletier. 

En plus de ces voitures, on retrouvera la voiture #41 de Samuel Charland dans le kiosque de son commanditaire Summum Performance. Aux couleurs de Lucas Oil, une voiture Mini Sportsman sera présente dans le kiosque de notre commanditaire. 

Enfin, vous pourrez retrouver la voiture Mini Sportsman #95 de Nicolas Côté qui sera dans l'espace Festidrag.tv. Rappelons qu'il sera possible pour les jeunes de prendre une photo avec la voiture vedette du film Les Bagnoles, Flash McQueen, avec contribution volontaire qui sera remis à la Fondation Rêves d'Enfants. 

Nos deux séries ont toujours présenté aux amateurs des voitures de hautes qualités et la 48e édition du salon ne fera pas exception. Passez nous voir ! 

Un vent de fraîcheur pour la 48e édition 

Sous une formule renouvelée qui correspond aux attentes du marché et du public, les nouveaux promoteurs du Salon de l'Auto Sport de Québec, Martin D'Anjou et Karine Albert des Évènements Festidrag inc amènent nouveautés et améliorations à cette édition. 

Ce voulant un évènement rassembleur et diversifié, les amateurs auront droit au plus grand salon de l'auto de l'histoire avec quelques nouveautés dont la zone familiale Létourno. SPEEDWAY 51 CAR SHOW SEASON KICKS OF

THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH

 

​This coming Saturday, April 8th, Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire kicks off their car show season at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Store on Meadow Street in Littleton, New Hampshire. This year's edition promises to be a good one, as last year's show saw several racecars, go-karts and the Speedway 51 pace car all participating in front of a large crowd that attended the show.

 

​The show will be held from 10am to 1pm in the O'Reilly Auto Parts parking lot. There will be door prizes and chances to win free tickets to opening night at Speedway 51 on Saturday, May 6th.

The clock is ticking and the countdown is on. Less than 50 days remain before the kick-off of the 50th Anniversary Season at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. With half a century of action already in the record books, the biggest celebration in the history of Peterborough Speedway takes the green flag Saturday, May 20th.

 

Track officials and promotional staff have been putting in some long hours behind the scenes, getting everything ready for this year's Country 105 Opening Ceremonies, with free spectator grandstand admission. All the hard work appears to be paying-off, as early indications point to more than 20 pre-registered drivers in the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun field. The Jiffy Lube Mini Stock pack has close to 20 teams signed-up for battle, with the same type of numbers in the Thunder Car ranks and the newly branded Organics & Glass Late Model line-up. Owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says it's a great time to be a fan of the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.

 

"The numbers are impressive and we haven't even turned a lap yet," Josiasse said. "We'll have some second-generation runners coming on board, tough competition for the rookie of the year awards and a couple of former track champions switching divisions. At least 3 drivers are making the move from the 4Fun class, with one heading for the Mini Stocks and a pair joining the Thunder Car action. The 2017 calendar promises to be packed with excitement from start to finish."

 

Josiasse says the popular Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Nights – presented by Pepsi – will be back on the schedule June 3rd, July 8th and August 19th. The 50th Anniversary Season will also include a series of special 50 lap main events, starting with the Late Models June 3rd, Mini Stocks June 10th. 4Fun teams get their turn to run the extra-distance showcase July 15th and the Thunder Car division has a 50 lapper during the annual Mid Summer Bash on July 22nd. The 50th Anniversary regular season will conclude at the Championship Clash – Saturday, September 2nd – with Top 10 Shootouts for all weekly divisions.

Brockville Ontario Speedway Small Block Modified Fans Have Plenty to Cheer About

During the 2016 season, 34 different drivers scored points in the headline DIRTcar 358 Modified division at Brockville Ontario Speedway. This year's season opener is schedule to hit the track at the popular 3/8th of a mile clay oval on Temperance Lake Road Saturday, May 13th and officials are expecting another strong field of competition.

 

Throughout the line-up, a pack of popular performers brings a loyal group of family, friends and fans to support their efforts and watch them battle for position week-after-week. They represent their sponsors and hometowns to the best of their ability, looking for the chance to take a turn to pose for photos in victory lane and celebrate a main event win. Speedway owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says its especially exciting when everyone has the chance to score the checkered flag.

 

"We recognize the long hours of hard work and determination it takes to get the car to the track," Kirkland said. "At this level, the teams are racing as a hobby. They're passionate enough about the sport to give-up some of their spare time to be here; to have some fun and that kind of dedication means a lot to everyone connected with this facility."

 

Andy Lloyd has no issue with being known as an "underdog". At the track every week on his own, without a pit crew, he's been a regular in the DIRTcar 358 Mod field for a dozen years. The 43 year-old from Sydenham, Ontario scored the first – and so far, only – feature event win of his career in July of 2013. Lloyd's equipment carries the #31x into battle as a tribute to his mother, who passed away in 1986 at the age of 31. The driver who finished 16thin points last year says he enjoys the friendships he's made at the track over the years.

 

Portland, Ontario's Joe Banks has spent 17 years behind the wheel of a racecar. The 30 year-old, who was 11th in the 2016 standings logged 20 checkered flags at the controls of his 4 cylinder machine, but is still waiting for his first Small Block Modified win. With a rich racing lineage – including family members Ed and Ab Banks, who raced at the former Kingston Speedway – the father of 2 says being part of the starting field at 'The BOS' has become a long-standing tradition.

 

With 17 regular season events on the calendar, just about anyone has a chance to make it to the winner's circle. All it takes is the perfect combination of preparation and racing luck to become the next smiling face, posing for photos in victory lane.

 

Short Track Saturday Night Notes: Back this year will be the Fan Fair event – Saturday, April 22nd from 10:30 to 1:30 – at Walmart in Brockville, Ontario. Cars and drivers will be on hand and there will be live entertainment by Ambush. The presentation will be a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario…'The BOS' will host an open practice session Saturday, May 6th from 1:00 'til 4:00.
