La pilote québécoise Valérie Chiasson en Coupe Porsche GT3 Benelux cette saison !
Le 25 avril 2017.- Première pilote féminine à atteindre une place de podium toutes-catégories au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve de Montréal (2015 en Coupe Nissan Micra) puis seule pilote féminine à disputer l'édition 2016 du Grand Prix du Canada (en Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne), Valérie Chiasson, originaire de Repentigny (Québec), va franchir une autre étape de sa carrière de pilote cette année alors qu'elle a été recrutée par l'écurie belge DVB Racing pour prendre part à des épreuves de Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux.
Valérie Chiasson, qui réside désormais au Grand Duché de Luxembourg, sera bien entendu la seule pilote féminine et de nationalité canadienne à évoluer dans cette série, qui présente des épreuves en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en France, ainsi que la finale de la saison en Espagne.
« Pouvoir piloter sur quelques-uns des plus beaux circuits du monde comme Spa-Francorchamps en Belgique et évoluer dans une série européenne de Coupe Porsche GT3, un style de série que je considère comme très professionnel, difficile et motivant pour les pilotes, a toujours été un objectif pour moi » confie Valérie Chiasson. Elle ajoute : « grâce à l'équipe DVB Racing, mon commanditaire allemand EVO Information Systeme et d'autres partenaires qui seront révélés ultérieurement, je vais pouvoir participer à la Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux cette saison. C'est vraiment exceptionnel ! » ajoute-t-elle.
Valérie Chiasson partagera le volant de la voiture du DVB Racing avec un autre pilote, qui sera officialisé par l'équipe dans les prochains jours. Chaque week-end de course étant composé de deux manches, Valérie disputera la première et son coéquipier la seconde. « C'est une formule qui me satisfait pleinement car elle me permet d'apprendre les circuits européens. 2017 est une saison de découverte pour moi en Europe, être présente sur chaque circuit, participer aux essais libres, qualifications et faire une des deux courses est l'idéal » a commenté Valérie, qui est aussi la représentante canadienne de la Commission FIA "Women in Motorsport" qui encourage la participation féminine en sport automobile.
Après avoir débuté en sport automobile par le karting à l'âge de 12 ans, Valérie Chiasson a ensuite participé à la Coupe Toyota au Québec, à la série ACT Québec (courses sur ovale de type NASCAR), au Championnat canadien des Voitures de Tourisme (meilleure recrue et "Top 4" pour ses débuts au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve en 2014), à la Coupe Nissan Micra ("Top 6" au championnat 2015) et à la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne l'an dernier. Elle a aussi disputé des épreuves sur prototype Stohr WF1 en 2014, récoltant trois victoires au Circuit Mont-Tremblant et montant six fois sur le podium en six courses.
La saison 2017 de la Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux débutera le 5 mai prochain, avec deux épreuves présentées en soutien du Championnat du monde d'Endurance (WEC), sur le circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Deux semaines plus tard, les 20 et 21 mai, c'est sur le circuit de Zandvoort aux Pays-Bas que seront présentées les troisième et quatrième manches 2017. La série fera ensuite halte au Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans (France) mi-juin, mais l'écurie DVB Racing ne prendra pas part à cet événement. Pour Valérie, il aurait de toute manière été compliqué de participer cette année à ce rendez-vous puisqu'il est prévu qu'elle dispute les deux manches de la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne en soutien du Grand Prix du Canada de Formule 1 quelques jours plus tôt.
Elle sera au départ de six courses (trois événements) dans la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne cette saison, soit le Grand Prix du Canada à Montréal, le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières en août et le week-end NASCAR de Mosport, début septembre. Ce programme dans son pays natal sera présenté en collaboration avec Total Canada et d'autres partenaires qui seront divulgués avant le GP du Canada, début juin.
Après l'événement montréalais, Valérie Chiasson retrouvera les circuits européens début juillet, à Zandvoort, avant de découvrir le tracé de Zolder, en Belgique, les 16 et 17 septembre. La finale de la saison 2017 aura lieu en Espagne, sur un autre circuit de Formule 1, celui de Barcelone. Ces deux dernières courses de la saison seront présentées en soutien du championnat international Blancpain GT, les 30 septembre et 1er octobre. Au total, Valérie disputera donc cinq courses dans la série.
La participation de Valérie Chiasson cette saison en Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux est organisée en partenariat avec DVB Racing, EVO Information Systeme et VB Energy.

DILLON MOLTZ WINS 31ST NH GOVERNOR'S CUP
Lee, NH – A stout 29-car field kicked off the 2017 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model Stock Car Championship scheduleSunday at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire. The race, originally scheduled for April 9th, had been postponed due to weather.
The 31st running of the Annual New Hampshire Governor's Cup, a 150-lap race, was won by Waterford, CT driver Dillon Moltz. He was joined on the podium by a pair of Quebec drivers: Alex Labbé of Victoriaville and Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville. The defending race winner, Scott Payea (Colchester, VT) and 2017 ACT Rookie contender Jason Corliss (Barre, VT), rounded out the top-5.
Earlier in the day qualifying heat races were won by Josh Masterson, Rowland Robinson Jr., and Dillon Moltz, while consi winners were Bobby Therrien and Alex Labbé.
Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert and Jonathan Bouvrette lined up on the front row for the 150-lap event, with Hebert edging Bouvrette at the start for the first 11 circuits. Bouvrette charged back and claimed the top spot on lap 12, leading the field until eventual winner Moltz assumed the top spot on lap 56. Despite two restarts at lap 98 for minor incidents, Moltz set a blistering pace that would leave only 8 competitors on the lead lap at the end of the 150-lap event.
Through the field, several two and three car battles resulted in needle-threading exchanges around lapped competitors including a duel between Bouvrette and fellow countryman Alex Labbé. With 15 laps to go, Labbé overcame Bouvrette and the two crossed the stripe second and third, respectively..
For the final 50 laps, Vermonters Scott Payea and Jason Corliss battled with Quebec's Donald Theetge, Eventually, Payea, who started 17th, used a lapped car to pin and overtake both of them. Still with a very fast car, he started to chase down eventual third place finisher Jonathan Bouvrette., but ran out of time and finished fourth.
With two laps to go, Corliss regained fifth place from Donald Theetge, who finished an impressive sixth place, after starting deep in the field in the 21st starting position, the veteran Theege's best finish at the Lee speedplant.
The top-10 was rounded out by Spencer Morse, Eddie MacDonald, Rich Dubeau and Bobby Therrien, with 26 of 29 cars running when the checkered flag flew.
With his win, Moltz becomes the 14th different winner of the classic in an ACT Late Model.
Earlier in the day, during the pre-race pit meeting with ACT officials, crews and drivers, the Série ACT Tom Curley Cup was presented to Claude Leclerc (Lanoraie, QC) who was kicking off his 40th stock car racing season with the Lee event. Leclerc is the third recipient of the award, presented annually to those who have an impact on stock car racing in Quebec.
The American Canadian Tour returns to Thunder Road this Sunday, April 30, for the 19th Merchant's Bank 150, preceded on Saturday by the Annual Downtown Barre Car Show from 9am to noon, culminating in the parade of race cars from downtown to the Nation's Site of Excitement on Quarry Hill. Sanction withdrawn from Thaw Brawl, Penalties Issued Posted: 24 Apr 2017 01:54 PM PDT Sanction withdrawn from Thaw Brawl, Penalties Issued Officials from DIRTcar Racing, Mars, DIRTcar Series, and American Late Model Series have withdrawn the event sanction from the March 24, 2017 Thaw Brawl at La Salle Speedway. The Friday races of the multi series special event were completed, however, track management allowed a DIRTcar suspended race team to participate in defiance of the sanctioning bodies warning. Despite the loss of sanction, officials determined teams in attendance will be awarded championship points for the respective series. In further actions, DIRTcar Racing has issued a fine and penalty to Late Model driver Josh Richards for filing a deceptive entry and an additional penalty to Best Performance for participating while under a DIRTcar Suspension. Finally, sanction applications for La Salle Speedway will not be accepted and all DIRTcar events at the Illinois facility have been removed from the schedule. The Summer Nationals Opening weekend two-day event on Friday and Saturday June 16 and 17 will move to an alternative facility. |

DILLON MOLTZ REMPORTE L'ÉPREUVE
Lee (NH, USA), le 24 avril 2017 – La première épreuve du championnat de stock-car américain, American-Canadian Tour (ACT), a été disputée hier à la piste de Lee USA Speedway au New Hampshire. C'est l'Américain Dillon Moltz de Waterford, CT qui a remporté l'épreuve de 150 tours devançant une paire de Québécois, soit Alex Labbé de Victoriaville et Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville.
Un début de saison qui promet pour Bouvrette. Il s'est élancé de la 2e position de départ et n'a pas perdu de temps à s'imposer, il a devancé le pilote du Vermont Jimmy Hebert, le détenteur de la pole, au 11e passage. Bouvrette a mené jusqu'au 55e passage, quand l'éventuel vainqueur Moltz lui a raflé la position de tête.
Avec 15 tours à faire, après une chaude lutte sur plusieurs tours, le compatriote de Bouvrette, Alex Labbé a eu le dessus sur lui et s'est emparé à son tour de la 2e place. Le duo terminera l'épreuve dans cet ordre et écrivant, en quelque sorte, une nouvelle page d'histoire du stock-car. Il faut remonter dans les années 80 pour voir deux Québécois sur un même podium lors d'une épreuve du côté américain.
La plus impressionnante remontée de la journée a été enregistrée par Donald Theetge de Boischatel. N'ayant pu profiter, bien malgré lui, d'un bon finish en course de qualification, il a pris le départ dans la finale à la 21e position. Méthodiquement, il a amorcé sa remontée jusqu'en 6e place doublant pas moins de 15 autres pilotes. Tout un exploit surtout considérant qu'il n'a pas pris part aux séances de pratiques la veille… puisqu'il était en vacances!
Dany Trépanier de Sté-Croix de Lotbinière a, quant à lui, signé une très respectable 12eposition au fil d'arrivée à sa première présence sur le circuit de 1/3 de mile qu'est Lee USA Speedway Il s'était élancé de la 9e position.
Journée plus difficile pour le vétéran Claude Leclerc de Lanoraie, impliqué dans un incident lors de la course de qualification qui a endommagé sa voiture. Ses équipiers n'ont pu, faute de temps, lui redonner une voiture aussi bonne qu'avant l'incident. Leclerc, qui a amorcé sa 40e année de compétition en s'élançant de la 29e et dernière position de départ, a croisé le fil en 20e position. Avant l'épreuve, Leclerc s'est vu décerner le trophée Tom Curley remis annuellement à une personne ayant reflété l'image de l'ACT soit la combativité, le respect et la compétition des deux côtés de la frontière.
La recrue de Blainville, Mathieu Kingsbury à sa première participation dans une compétition pour voiture Late Model Sportsman a très bien tiré son épingle du jeu. Kingsbury qui a pris le départ de la 25e position a terminé la course au 24e rang, accumulant de la précieuse expérience en vue de sa quête au titre de recrue dans la Série ACT, la division Québécoise de l'ACT qui amorcera son championnat 2017 à l'Autodrome Montmagny le 10 juin prochain.
Il n'est pas impossible que certaines de nos vedettes se rendent, ce dimanche 30 avril, du côté de Thunder Road International Speedbowl à Barre dans le Vermont pour une autre manche de l'ACT Tour pour rivaliser les meilleurs pilotes américains.

Bon, ce n'est peut-être pas exactement comme ça, mais quoi de mieux pour saluer le retour de la douce température printanière que la présentation d'une course d'endurance. Une belle occasion pour les pilotes réguliers de venir exercer leurs réflexes en vue de la saison à venir et une belle occasion également pour les ''pilotes amateurs'' de démontrer leur savoir-faire. Peu importe la motivation qui amène en piste les différents pilotes, tous ont un but commun : s'amuser!
Pilotes chevronnés et chauffeurs du dimanche, rivaliseront donc, sur la piste ovale de l'Autodrome St-Eustache afin de franchir le fil d'arrivée en première position, dimanche le 30 avril prochain. Avec des voitures à 4-6 ou 8 cylindres simultanément en piste, on peut s'attendre à beaucoup d'action et fort probablement à un peu de tôle froissée. Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Sunfire, Ford Crown Victoria et Honda Civic, ne sont que quelques-uns des modèles de voitures qui seront en piste le 30 avril.
Pour les personnes intéressées à participer à l'évènement, les frais sont de $130.00 en pré-inscriptions ou $140.00 le jour de la course. L'inscription comprend : l'enregistrement de la voiture, l'accès au pilote ainsi qu'à 3 mécaniciens accompagnateurs et au transpondeur électronique, servant à compiler les tours. Les règlements sont disponibles sur le site web, autodrome.ca. Nous vous invitons à vous inscrire auprès de l'ASE, en contactant par courriel au : info@autodrome.ca ou par téléphone : 450-472-6222. First Paint Schemes Unveiled For Busch North Throwback at Thompson
Rev Racing To Spotlight Two Historic Moments In K&N Pro East Race
THOMPSON, Conn. (April 20, 2017) – With the unveiling of their 2017 short track schedule in December, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) Officials announced the return of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. The event will be a celebration of the series' New England roots and the rich history of the division with the Busch North Throwback 100 on Saturday, July 8.
To mark the occasion, NASCAR K&N Pro Series teams are encouraged to wrap their cars in former series paint schemes of pioneering drivers like Joey Kourafas, Jamie Aube, Andy Santerre and others.
Rev Racing announced today two of the paint schemes that will be featured.
The first will be the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship winning car of Kyle Larson, current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point leader.
The No. 6 Toyota will be piloted by Mexico City's Ruben Garcia Jr. Larson is the first NASCAR Drive for Diversity driver to win a touring series championship as well as the first of the program's graduates to win a race at NASCAR's highest level.
The second paint scheme will remember the first Mexico-born driver to win a race: Ruben Pardo.
Pardo drove to a road course win at Connecticut's Lime Rock Park in 2006. Collin Cabre will proudly display Pardo's colors, with a slightly different number – the 2 as opposed to Pardo's No. 12.
Each throwback paint scheme will feature the current driver's name over the driver-side door, and the name of the driver the car is celebrating over the opposite side door.
Garcia Jr., Cabre, and the entire Rev Racing team will join other stars of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 8 for the Busch North Throwback 100.
Thompson has held 27 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races, dating back to the series' second season in 1988 when Bobby Dragon drove the No. 71 D.G. Roberston Buick to Victory Lane. Over the years, drivers such as Ricky Craven, Ken Bouchard, Mike McLaughlin, Santerre, Mike Stefanik, Martin Truex Jr., Eddie MacDonald, Matt Kobyluck, Trevor Bayne and Ryan Truex have won at the historic Connecticut oval.

Could Another Classic Finish Be In Store For PASS Return To Oxford On Sunday?

NAPLES, ME (April 21) – Maine race fans wait is finally over as short track racing returns this Sunday afternoon to Oxford Plains Speedway. The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models will make their first stop of the season in Maine this weekend in the Speedway Homes 150.
If last year's PASS action at Oxford Plains Speedway is any indication, fans might be in store for another "instant" classic. As a matter of fact, fans were treated to three of the most memorable finishes in series history in 2016 at Oxford Plains.
It all started a year ago in the 2016 Speedway Homes 150. Three of the biggest names in PASS history battled three-wide in the late going to determine the victor. The all-time winningest driver in PASS history, Ben Rowe, prevailed over six-time series champion, Johnny Clark, and the eventual 2016 champion, DJ Shaw, in one of the most exciting finishes Maine race fans have ever seen. But the excitement did not end there.
In July, and with a guaranteed starting spot in the prestigious Oxford 250 on the line, New Hampshire's Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Joey Polewarcyzk, battled side-by-side over the race's final laps. At the checkered flag, it was a photo finish. After a day reviewing video evidence, PASS officials determined that the race was a "dead heat" and for the only time in PASS history, both Helliwell and Polewarcyzk were credited with the win.
For Helliwell, that finish proved prophetic. Just over a month later in the Oxford 250, again he was in the midst of a side-by-side battle, this time, with two-time 250 winner, Travis Benjamin. Expertly using a lapped car to his advantage, Helliwell managed to pass Benjamin to go on and claim the biggest win in his career.
This year's race is expected to be no different with a field stacked with champions for Sunday afternoon's Speedway Homes 150, including former Oxford 250 winners, Ben Rowe, Mike Rowe, Travis Benjamin, Glen Luce, and Joey Polewarcyzk. Former PASS champions, Johnny Clark, Cassius Clark, Joey Doiron, and DJ Shaw are entered as well as top series runners like Dave Farrington, Jr., Derek Griffith, and Garrett Hall. Among the drivers entered from Canada are New Brunswick's Greg Fahey and British Columbia's Sarah Cornett-Ching, both who will be attempting their first starts at Oxford Plains. Currently, over 30 drivers are entered with more expected this weekend.
All the action gets under way onSaturday at Oxford Plains Speedway with open practice for all competing divisions weather permitting. On Sunday, racing is slated to begin at 2 PM for the PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, Legends, and the Quad Crown Series for Street Stocks.

Ontario Modifieds Series Fine Tunes its Season Opening Starting Line-Up

Drivers and teams with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – have been working hard throughout the off season to get their equipment ready to kick-off an exciting 2017 campaign. There will be new names in the field and familiar faces steering different equipment. Bill Pickford – who along with Richard Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth make-up the OMRS team of officials – says its going to be a great year for the popular open wheel tour.
"Across the board, everyone in the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series family is looking forward to the new season," Pickford said. "We have a busy schedule – with events at Peterborough, Sunset and Flamboro – again this year and even though the first green flag is about a month away, our drivers are hungry to flex their muscles and get back on the track."
Defending series champion John Baker Jr. has been burning the midnight oil, reworking his 2016 title winning piece. The popular speedster – best known by the abbreviated handle "JBJ" – says that by the time he's finished, only the centre section of last year's car will remain. He'll be replacing the front and rear clips and suspension. There'll be a different engine, clutch and transmission. Baker happily reports that the car will still be orange and carry his traditional #63.
At his shop just outside of Stirling, Ontario Randy Hollingsworth and his crew are hard at work getting a pair of cars ready for action. Hollingsworth says the #62W driven by his granddaughter Willow Barberstock had a twist of about an inch from front-to-back in the frame that needed to be straightened. The engine is being freshened and a new body being installed. The car is also getting a new paint scheme and they're installing new drop spindles to lower the ride height. His own car will get a new body and fresh valve springs on the engine.
Warnes Racing is busy getting 3 cars and engines ready at their shop in Newcastle, Ontario. Rick Warnes is finishing-off a new car for the #90, that will return to its familiar purple. Former series champion Rob Warnes will be making a few updates and will have a new body on the #90 and the machine that carried the #98 in 2016 will have a driver for several events. Brad Stevenson has a brand-new piece for the new campaign and Josh Gruntz will be making a return to the OMRS ranks in 2017.

LEE USA: LEVER DE RIDEAU POUR LA SAISON 2017 DE L'ACT
Un contingent de six pilotes du Québec
Laval (QC), le 20 avril 2017 – La première épreuve de la saison 2017 de l'American-Canadian Tour (ACT) se tiendra dimanche 23 avril, à la piste de Lee USA dans le New Hampshire. L'épreuve de 150 tours lèvera le rideau sur la 26e saison de courses de stock-car.
Le rapide 1/3-mile a connu 13 différents gagnants lors des 14 représentations, seul le multiple champion Brian Hoar, qui en 2011 et 2012 a réussi à remporter deux fois l'épreuve annuelle intitulée le "New Hampshire Governer's cup".
Un contingent de six pilotes du Québec sera sur place pour représenter fièrement la Série ACT, la division Québécoise de l'ACT, de ce groupe nous pouvons compter : 3 champions, un vétéran, un « hard charger » et une recrue.
Du groupe de Québécois, Alex Labbé (St-Albert, QC) le champion 2014 de la Série ACT est le seul à avoir pris le départ à chacune des épreuves depuis 2012. Quelques jours après avoir compétitionné en Xfinity au Texas Motor Speedway, Labbé sera à nouveau derrière le volant de la voiture no. 48 Équipements de déneigement et de pavage Larue. Dany Trépanier (St-Edouard, QC) le champion 2015 de la Série ACT fera sa première visite à cette piste. Le 2-fois champion de la Série ACT Donald Theetge (Québec, QC) sera aussi de la partie. Jonathan Bouvrette (Blainville, QC) y effectuera son 2e départ, tandis que la recrue Mathieu Kingsbury y sera de sa première visite. Complétant le groupe, le populaire Claude Leclerc (Lanoraie, QC) amorcera sa 40e année de compétition de stock-car.
La majorité des équipes seront sur place samedi pour des essais entre midi et 17h. Le programme de course quand à lui sera disputé dimanche à compter de 14h, du même coup marquant le début de la 26e saison de l'ACT Late Model.
Le calendrier 2017 de la Série ACT, constitué de courses de stock-car pour voitures Late Model Sportsman, comporte six épreuves disputées sur les tracés asphaltés de l'Autodrome de Montmagny (4) et de St-Eustache (2). La saison débutera à l'Autodrome Montmagny le 10 juin prochain.

From his introduction to the world of weekly short-track motorsports competition, Craig Graham's genre of choice has been the provincial pavement speedways. Earning Rookie of the Year, Best Appearing Car awards and Track Championships in the Thunder Car and Limited Late Model divisions at venues like Peterborough, Sauble Beach, Mosport and Kawartha Speedways, the immaculately prepared #98 machines have been a fixture on the black-top raceways. When the green flag waves to kick-off the 2017 campaign, things will change.
During the winter months, Craig Graham added a new piece to the team's stable, with the acquisition of a race-ready, GM Crate engine powered Rocket Chassis dirt late model machine. The 44 year-old father of 2 – who punches the timeclock as a Fixed Vehicle Operations Manager at Clarington Hyundai – says he's looking forward to hitting the track and discovering everything there is to learn about a new brand of racing.
"I've raced on some of the bigger tracks and bullrings across Ontario, but up until now, I've never run a lap on dirt. My entire career has been devoted to asphalt," Graham said. "I always wanted to try running on clay and even though I won't be able to commit to the entire season, I'm betting that the events we'll get to run this year at Brighton Speedway will be a lot of fun."
Racing on dirt won't just be a new experience from the driver's seat, but also for the entire team. The Orono, Ontario based operation – led by crew chief Marten Rottine – will unload for their first date Saturday, April 29th with an empty notebook that will quickly be filled with set-up information to help get the most from their new equipment.
When he's not racing himself, Craig Graham will resume his role as father, mentor and coach as his son tackles another season of action on the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series. After a memorable and impressive sophomore campaign – that included a 3-race wining streak and the $1000 'Boss of the Beach' bonus for taking back-to-back victories at Sauble Speedway – Brandt Graham is counting the days until he's back on the track and on the way to defending his 2016 Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series title. The Durham College student will be back at the controls of the potent #14 machine and chasing his next checkered flag.
