Labbe Uses Bumper For Riverside Win

Makes Last Corner Pass On Lacroix for NASCAR Pinty's Series Victory

ANTIGONISH, N.S -- It was fitting, perhaps, that the Bumper To Bumper 300 was determined by a bumper Sunday.

Alex Labbe culminated a late charge to the finish with a bump-and-run pass on Kevin Lacroix, on the final corner of the final lap at Riverside International Speedway to grab the checkered flag. The win is the fourth of the season for the Victoriaville, Quebec driver, and his first win on the high-banked, third-mile oval.

Lacroix, who led four times for 251 laps and dominated throughout the entire race, held on to finish second. In a post-race act of displeasure, Lacroix slammed into the driver's side door of Labbe's No.32 Can-Am/ Kappa Ford sending Labbe spinning and Lacroix airbourne. Following the incident, Lacroix went back to his hauler and declined to comment. 

D.J Kennington who started the race from the pole after rain washed out qualifying Saturday and postponed the race a day, finished third picking up his fourth podium finish of the season.

Mark Dilley scored his best finish of 2017 in fourth. Andrew Ranger rounded out the top five.

Alex Tagliani and J.F Dumoulin finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Adam Martin, Cayden Lapcevich and Donald Theetge completed the top 10. 

With the win, Labbe extended his championship points lead to 26 over Lacroix with three races remaining. Defending series champion Lapcevich is third, 18 behind Lacroix and two in front of Kennington and 10 ahead of LP Dumoulin.

The Bumper To Bumper 300 will air on TSN on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 1:30 p.m. ET, and on RDS on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The NASCAR Pinty's Series will be back in action Sunday, September 3rd for the Total Quartz 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Une sixième place bien méritée pour Alex Tagliani au Riverside Speedway en Nouvelle-Écosse


Montréal, 20 août 2017 - Au début du weekend, rien n'a semblé fonctionner pour le pilote Alex Tagliani pour la 10e étape de la série NASCAR Pinty's qui devait être disputé samedi soir sur l'ovale du Riverside International Speedway à Antigonish, Nouvelle-Écosse. Lors des essais libres du samedi midi, Tagliani a inscrit le 10e temps sur les 15 pilotes inscrits. Malheureusement, la qualification prévue en milieu de l'après-midi du samedi a été annulée à cause d'une pluie qui s'est abattue sur le circuit, forçant Tag à partir à la fin du deuxième tiers du peloton pour la course qui a été remise à dimanche. L'Ontarien DJ Kennington, le plus rapide lors de la période d'essai, a occupé la première position pour le départ de la course de 300 tours.


La pluie ayant contrecarré les plans de présenter le Bumper To Bumper 300 samedi soir, l'épreuve de 300 tours a été disputée sous le soleil dimanche après-midi sur l'ovale fortement incliné de 0,333 mille. Vainqueur à Trois-Rivières la semaine précédente, le pilote originaire de Lachenaie espérait poursuivre sur sa lancée malgré les petits inconvénients mécaniques découverts sur sa voiture lors des essais. Parti du dixième rang le pilote de la voiture EpiPen-Lowe's-St Hubert s'est toujours maintenu sur le tour du meneur, mais n'a jamais été en mesure d'attaquer lors de la première moitié de la course. Après la pause obligatoire en milieu de course, Tagliani a été impliqué deux fois dans des accrochages mineurs avec des pilotes qui avaient pourtant un tour de retard, ce qui ne l'a pourtant pas empêché de monter jusqu'au huitième rang au 250e tour. Puis, il a attaqué pour doubler deux autres concurrents et terminer la course en sixième place derrière Andrew Ranger, à cinq secondes du vainqueur Alex Labbé.


« L'équipe Tagliani Autosport/22 Racing a fait de l'excellent boulot pour améliorer la voiture au cours de la course, a déclaré Tagliani. Durant la première moitié de la course, j'avais de la difficulté à maintenir le rythme. Hier (samedi) après la séance d'essai, l'équipe a modifié la voiture pour s'ajuster aux conditions météorologiques plutôt froides pour la qualification et la course qui serait disputée en soirée. Cependant, tout a été annulé et la course a été reportée à dimanche avec des conditions différentes. La voiture a été confinée au parc fermé avec cet ajustement et nous ne pouvions faire aucune correction. J'ai réalisé tôt durant la course que la voiture n'avait pas les bons réglages. J'ai donc patiemment attendu le moment propice pour un arrêt durant la première moitié de la course pour faire quelques ajustements afin de voir dans quelle direction nous devrions aller. Lors de l'arrêt obligatoire de cinq minutes de la mi-course, l'équipe en a profité pour terminer le travail et la voiture se comportait mieux. J'ai pu attaquer mes adversaires pour terminer sixième.


« Même si les choses ne semblaient pas aller pour le mieux durant la première moitié de la course, l'équipe EpiPen Lowe's n'a jamais abandonné. Ce n'est pas le résultat escompté après notre victoire à Trois-Rivières, mais nous espérons d'ici à la fin de la saison améliorer notre position au classement des pilotes. Même si la chance n'a jamais été de notre côté à Mosport, la voiture a toujours été compétitive. Nous devons changer cette donne afin de terminer la saison en force. »


La victoire est allée au jeune Alex Labbé qui a doublé Kevin Lacroix dans le dernier virage de la course pour inscrire sa quatrième victoire de la saison. DJ Kennington a terminé troisième devant Mark Dilley. Quinze pilotes ont pris le départ et 11 ont croisé l'arrivée dont neuf sur le tour du vainqueur. La course a été neutralisée six fois.


Au classement des pilotes avec trois courses à disputer, Tagliani maintient son sixième rang. Avec sa victoire, Alex Labbé augmente son avance en première position devant Kevin Lacroix.


En 55 départs en NASCAR Pinty's, Tag a inscrit six victoires, huit positions de tête, 21 top cinq et 35 top dix. Le Bumper To Bumper 300 sera diffusé le vendredi 15 septembre prochain sur les ondes de RDS à 19 h 30.


Prochaine étape : Mosport (CTMP) le 3 septembre prochain
Le Total Quartz 200, 11e étape de la saison, sera présenté le weekend du 3 septembre prochain au circuit routier Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) situé au nord de Bowmanville en Ontario.


Cependant, le circuit routier de 3,958 kilomètres n'a jamais permis au pilote originaire de Lachenaie de démontrer tout son talent dans la série NASCAR Pinty's, son meilleur résultat ayant été une cinquième position lors de sa saison recrue au mois de juin 2008. Même si deux étapes de la série NASCAR Pinty's y sont présentées chaque année, Tagliani n'a participé qu'à seulement quatre des 18 courses disputées sur le circuit routier ontarien depuis 2008. D'un, il est revenu à la série IndyCar en 2009 où il a participé à six épreuves avant de devenir l'année suivante un pilote régulier jusqu'en 2013, se méritant entre autres la pole position au Indy 500 en 2011. Par la suite, même s'il s'est engagé à plein temps en NASCAR Canada en 2014, Tagliani a toujours fait l'impasse sur la course d'ouverture de la série canadienne de NASCAR jusqu'en 2017 afin de participer à la célèbre course du Indy 500 disputée au mois de mai.


À Mosport, la chance n'a jamais été au rendez-vous pour Alex. Au mois d'août 2014 à son retour à Mosport, un bris de la direction assistée s'est produit en début de course, rendant la conduite de sa voiture difficile jusqu'à l'arrivée. Qualifié au quatrième rang à l'automne 2015, un contact en piste alors qu'il se battait pour la victoire et qu'il ne restait que trois tours à compléter le fait chuter au huitième rang. Un an plus tard au début de septembre, il déroche la position de tête, mais un ennui mécanique à la mi-course met fin à sa quête d'une première victoire sur cette piste. Plus tôt cette année lors de l'ouverture de la saison 2017, il se qualifie au deuxième rang, mais un autre bris mécanique le force à l'abandon alors qu'il occupait le troisième rang avec deux tours à faire.


Un nouveau défi attend donc Alex le 3 septembre prochain. Est-ce que la chance va enfin lui sourire ?

North Woodstock, NH – Dillon Moltz raced his way back into the American Canadian Tour (ACT) title chase with a convincing win in the Foley Oil & Propane 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park Saturday.

 

Moltz started third in the RB Performance No. 5 Chevrolet, survived early contact with Stephen Donahue and then took the lead from Jason Corliss for keeps on lap 25.

 

Corliss battled back to finish 2nd after getting shuffled back behind lapped traffic on the fourth of five restarts on lap 92.

 

Moltz' biggest challenge came from Jimmy Hebert on the final restart on lap 108, but he soon opened up a comfortable lead and drove off to his second win of the season.

 

ACT point leader Scott Payea, dinged up by early contact, soldiered on to a 10th-place finish, but saw his championship bid advantage trimmed, unofficially, to 28 points.

 

After some door banging in the closing laps, Corliss and Hebert finished 2nd and 3rd ahead of Jesse Switzer and Josh Masterson.

 

Switzer earned a $1,000 bonus as the highest finishing White Mountain weekly competitor. Positions 6-10 went to Rowland Robinson Jr., Shawn Swallow, Oren Remick, Donahue and Payea.

 

Payea was saved more than once by yellow flags that were thrown just as Moltz was about to put him a lap down.

 

"This is great," Moltz said. "It takes the weight off my shoulders. We weren't good for much of the day, but we changed the front springs and the car was great for the race. We figured passes had to be made on the bottom."

 

"I thought, I'll stay low and if the leaders come to me, I'd try to take over," Moltz added. "When I got to my own line, I was fine."

 

Moltz and Corliss were well ahead of the field when a caution closed things up on lap 66. By the halfway mark, Moltz drew out to a five car-length advantage over Corliss, Hebert, Robinson, Jeff Marshall and Remick.

 

Over the final forty laps, Moltz often led by a full straightaway when not in heavy traffic. Meanwhile, the Corliss/Hebert duel began to heat up.

 

"The 5-car was really on his game," Corliss said. "The restarts cost us, especially the one where I got caught behind a slower car. Second isn't bad though, and the next race is on our home turf (Thunder Road September 3)."

PLATTSBURGH – Local racing veteran, Mike Perrotte, made a thrilling pass on the outside of turn 4 on lap-20 to set himself up for his second Egglefield Ford 358 Modified win of the season at Airborne Park Speedway.
Gage Morin took the lead on the opening green flag of the 30 lap feature. The lead was short lived as Perrotte would slide under on lap-5. Nick Lussier would spin on lap-12, setting up a restart with Perrotte and Morin in the front row, with Steve Bernier and Chris Raabe in row two. Perrotte elected to restart outside and it nearly proved to be costly as Morin slid up in front of Perrotte in turns one and two, which left the bottom open for Bernier. Perrotte, however, would power off turn two and split the two cars to keep his lead. 
Morin had mechanical troubles on lap 14, just after Bernier got around Perrotte for the race lead. 
Bernier restarted from the inside and pulled out to an eight car length advantage. Perrotte took his Adirondack Auto No. 35 to the outside on lap-19 and quickly closed on Bernier. On lap-20, Perrotte would time his pass perfectly and was able to draw away from Bernier.
In the closing laps, Steve's brother, François Bernier, drew to within three car lengths, but Perrotte expertly executed lap traffic and went on his way to the win.
François Bernier crossed the line in second with Steve Bernier completing the podium. Chris Raabe and Bloomingdale's Matt Woodruff completed the top five.
"I knew I needed to time it right to make the pass on Bernier," Perrotte said. "It was a lot of fun out here tonight."
A first-time winner found victory lane in the Fidelis Care Sportsman division. Danny Sullivan of Morrisonville led flag to flag, but it wasn't smooth sailing for the No. 3 machine. 
Sullivan worked up on heavy lap traffic on lap-15 and had to methodically work his way around. In doing so, Sullivan would increase his lead on the field as he picked his spots well and went on for the win.
"You have no idea how much this win means for me," Sullivan said. "To top it off, we got it done on a night that two of my sponsors are presenting the race."
Nick Heywood crossed the line in second with Chris Cayea finishing in third. Joey Scarborough and Connor Cleveland completed the top five with Cleveland driving from last to fifth after pitting for a flat tire on lap-1.
Brent Jarvis continued to show his dominance in the Poirier's True Value Renegade division. Jarvis used the inside of the racing surface to drive his car to his ninth win. Mark Caron, Michael Wright, Eric Messier and Tylor Terry completed positions two through five.
The Busch Beer Mini-Mods found Kris Clark atop the division while winning his sixth race of the season. Josh LaPorte and John Bradley completed the podium. Ian Bressette and Clem Bell finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Shawn Walker turned Rolland Guay's bad luck into good luck, as he was able to collect his third win. Guay was leading on the final lap when he broke on the right front in turn two and opened the door for Walker. Nathan Smart, Michael Daniels, Guay and Mark Lapan completed the top five.
The Spectator Race event was won by Chris Rombaugh of Fulton, as he defeated Jerry Racette. The Dump Truck Race victory went to Josh Laware.
In total, 80 backpacks were given away to kids during the intermission portion of the night. Special thanks to Billie Jo Branham, all the drivers, fans and staff that contributed to make the event a success.
Racing action resumes next Saturday for McBride Chevrolet & Subaru Salute to Our Heroes Night presented by John W. Sheehan and Sons Excavation. WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Dylan Rabtoy is emerging near the forefront of Vermont stock car racing's youth movement, and on Saturday, August 19, he scored another victory for the youngsters at The Asphalt Track at Devil's Bowl Speedway.  The 18 year-old from Swanton, Vt., topped the list of winners during the annual "C.J. Richards Memorial" event presented by Rutland Regional Medical Center, which also included Ron Proctor, Billy Lussier, Roo Forrest, Lynn Denton, Cory Gray, and Nate Corcoran.

Rabtoy's win came in an exciting 50-lap feature race for the Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Super Stock division of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.  The majority of the race was an exciting battle between second-generation stars Rabtoy and rookie Kelsea Woodard.  In just her fourth start in the Super Stock class, 16 year-old Woodard led the first three laps before Rabtoy got to the front.  Rabtoy officially led every lap at the start/finish line from that point until the checkered flag, but the pair traded the point several times in the corners and the straights throughout the event.

After a two multi-car crashes earlier in the race, it all came apart during a restart on lap 48 when the cars Woodard and third-place driver Jared Blake made contact and collected Scott FitzGerald and Tony Salerno, with all four sailing off the top of Turn 2; Jim McKiernan also incurred damage in the incident, which necessitated a red flag period for a lengthy cleanup.  Two more crashes after the restart prompted race officials to cut the race one lap short due to time constraints.

When the smoke cleared, Rabtoy came away with his third win of the season.  R.J. Germain – who recovered from crashes on laps 4 and 36 – finished second.  McKiernan was given credit for third place, Salerno fourth, and Blake fifth, with the top 10 completed by Woodard, Chris Cardarelli, FitzGerald, Bill Burlingame, and Austin McKiernan.  Unofficially, Rabtoy and Jim McKiernan are tied atop the championship standings at 550 points each with just two races left in the season.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Sportsman Modified division was in action with two 20-lap, sprint-style features; both races ran caution-free with a quick pace.  Ron Proctor of Charlton, N.Y., won the first feature ahead Vince Quenneville Jr., Joey Roberts, and Billy Lussier.  Hometown favorite Lussier, of Fair Haven, Vt., won the nightcap ahead of Roberts, Quenneville, and Proctor.  Quenneville holds an unofficial championship lead of eight points over Proctor, 541-533, as the season nears its end.

Seventeen year-old Roo Forrest of West Rutland, Vt., picked up his third win of the season in the 15-lap race for the Portland Glass Mini Stocks.  Rookies Mike Preston and Cam Gadue led laps early before Forrest made his way from ninth at the start into the lead just before the halfway mark.  Gadue finished second behind Forrest, with another freshman – point leader Shawn Moquin – third.  Preston and Kaleb Shepard each turned in their best runs of the year in fourth and fifth, respectively.  Moquin's lead over Forrest in the title race was trimmed to 21 points, unofficially, 553-532.

Lynn Denton of Milton, Vt., came out of a photo finish as a first-time winner in the Ladies Mini Stock division, taking a 10-lap feature race that had its share of bumps and bruises.  Denton beat Sami Sargent – who took a momentary flight off the track on the second lap – by inches at the finish line.  Maddy Rabtoy, who led the first few laps, finished third.  Stephanie Roberts and Alayne Bruno, who crashed together in the final laps, completed the finish order.

A 50-lap Enduro Series race was run in quick fashion with Rutland, Vt.'s Cory "Cubby" Gray getting his second win of the season.  "Wild Bill" Fountain finished second with 14 year-old Johnny Bruno third as the final car on the lead lap.  Josh Payea and Hunter Murray, each one lap behind, completed the unofficial top five; however, the full finish is under scoring review and will be released soon.

Nate Corcoran of Vergennes, Vt., won the Street-Legal Spectator Races, with his 2011 Honda Civic beating Josh Jerger's 1994 Jeep Cherokee in the finale.  In addition, the "Deathwish Performance" team put on a 12-car drag racing exhibition at intermission in advance of Devil's Bowl Speedway's fifth and final Wednesday Night Drag Racing Series event coming up on August 23.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action on its 3/10-mile Dirt Track on Sunday, August 20, with the $1,200-to-win Charlie LaDuc Memorial "Ol' Reliable 54" event for Sportsman Modifieds.  Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, and the Catamount Mini Sprints will also be in action.  General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), $5 for teenagers (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under.  Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m.

Barre, Vt. – Danville's Tyler Cahoon dove inside Barre's Boomer Morris with nine laps remaining and went on to his first Thunder Road Late Model feature win of the season at U.S. Army Recruiting Night on Thursday, August 17. It was the third straight podium finish for the veteran driver as he continued his resurgence after a tough first half of the year.

 

Cahoon started fifth and first got to the inside of Morris on lap 27, but the pass was nullified by a backstretch crash involving Eric Chase and Ricky Roberts. Cahoon fell into a battle with Barre's Cody Blake on the ensuing restart as early leader Morris inched away.

 

The field was brought back together by a lap-38 caution when Kyle Pembroke and Christopher Pelkey went off turn one as the pack tried to navigate lapped traffic. Sitting third on the restart, Cahoon drove up the inside and muscled underneath Morris coming off turn two on lap 41. Morris ended up going hard into the frontstretch wall with four laps to go, but Cahoon held off Blake on the final restart for the victory.

 

Blake earned his third straight podium finish as well by edging out South Burlington's Trampas Demers for second. Point leader Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg took fourth and will unofficially extend his lead after copping his fifth Maplewood Semi-Feature win of the season earlier in the evening. Scott Dragon, Darrell Morin, Brooks Clark, Governor Phil Scott, Jason Corliss, and Mike Bailey rounded out the top-10.

 

Rookie Jamon Perry of Hardwick scored his second win of the year in the 40-lap Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger feature. Perry came quickly through the field from his ninth starting position to grab the lead from fellow rookie Jason Pelkey of Barre on lap 13. He then held off Pelkey through a serious of four cautions, including the final one on lap 28 when Dwayne Lanphear and Mike Billado got together fighting for the third spot, to cruise to the victory.

 

Craftsbury Common's Mike Martin moved up to second on the final restart. Wolcott's Brendan Moodie outdueled Pelkey in the final laps for third while Grand Isle's Joe Steffen completed the top-five. Point leader Jason Woodard recovered from a mid-race spin with a flat tire to finish sixth and unofficially maintain an 11-point edge over Moodie with three events remaining. Trevor Lyman, Matthew Potter, Brian Delphia, and Lanphear completed the top-10.

 

Wolcott's Jamie Davis captured his first win of the season in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Coming off a blown engine in the previous event, Davis got to the inside of polesitter Tom Campbell on lap 18 of the 25-lap event. Campbell then lost control in turn four, sweeping up point leader Cooper Bouchard and Michael Gay in the process. Davis held off rookie Stephen Martin of Craftsbury Common on the fourth and final restart for the victory.

 

Number-two point driver Brandon Lanphear of Morrisville completed the podium and stands to make a big gain in the standings after Bouchard ended up 12th. Kelsea Woodard, Alan Maynard, Dean Switser Jr., Gary Mullen, Kasey Collins, Matthew Smith, and Logan Powers also earned top-10 finishes.

 

The final Thursday night event of the season at Thunder Road is coming up next Thursday, August 24 with Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing Night. A full card of action is scheduled for the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors with a 7:00pmpost time. The event will all feature the annual "Run-What-U-Brung" spectator races for street-legal vehicles that are registered, inspected, and insured. Admission is just $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Some Big Names Still Searching For That First Oxford 250 Win

NAPLES, ME (August 17) – In just over a week now, an action-packed weekend of short track racing will commence with the 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products at Oxford Plains Speedway.  The Oxford 250 is considered one of the crown jewels of asphalt Super Late Model racing.  With over $25,000 going to the winner of the race, more than 70 cars are expected to attempt to qualify for the 250-lap main event.  With heat races used to determine the starting field for the Oxford 250, it is viewed by many observers as one of the toughest races to qualify for in all of short track racing.  And, for the first time in the event's long history, the two-hour broadcast will air at a later date, tape-delayed to a national audience on MAV TV.

Last year, Pelham, NH's, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. captured his first Oxford 250 win by holding off two-time winner, Travis Benjamin.  It took Helliwell, who is considered by many to be one of the best Late Model racers in New England, nine tries to finally capture the elusive checkered flag in the 250.

Johnny and Cassius Clark, who are of no relation, could perhaps be two of the most successful drivers to have never won the Oxford 250.  Johnny Clark is a six-time champion of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model division, with 36 wins to his credit.  In 10 Oxford 250 starts, J. Clark has only managed two top-5 finishes, with a runner-up finish coming in 2005.

For Cassius Clark, the numbers are very similar…nine starts, two top-5's, and a best finish of fourth in 2014. But, with a strong run in the most recent PASS North Super Late Model race at Oxford Plains Speedway, C. Clark comes to the 250 as favorite to put the Rollie MacDonald-owned #13 in victory lane this year.

Two-time and defending PASS North Super Late Model champion, DJ Shaw, has been one of the series hardest drivers to beat over the last decade, but has as of yet, not been able to get an Oxford 250 win.  But, if track knowledge and momentum is an indicator, he should be a challenger again after scoring his best finish, a third, in last year's race.

Tracy Gordon is another veteran hoping that time will be on his side in 2017.  Gordon has made 15 starts in the 250, dating all the way back to 1987.  Gordon has finished in the top five in over 25 percent of his Oxford 250 starts and scored back-to-back runner-up finishes in 1997 and 1998.  It has been a strong year for Gordon as he sits ninth in PASS North points coming into next weekend's 250.

Scarborough, ME's Kelly Moore has nearly as many starts in the 250 as Gordon with 13, but actually made his first start even earlier, in 1985.  It has been a tough go for Moore in the 250 in recent years, but he too has been a bridesmaid, finishing second to Dick McCabe in 1988.

These are just a handful of contenders among the 56 drivers currently entered for next weekend's 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products.  And, that's not counting the young talent which will be making their first of many starts in this prestigious race.  All the action gets underway on Friday, August 25th and culminates in front of the MAV TV cameras on Sunday afternoon, August 27.  For entry forms, the complete weekend schedule, and the most up-to-date list of entries please go to ProAllStarsSeries.com

Antigonish, (Nouvelle-Écosse, Canada), le 21 août 2017 – C'est avec engouement et impatience que l'équipe #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare était plus que prête pour le départ de la course qui devait se dérouler hier sur le circuit du Riverside International Speedway. Sur la grille de départ en huitième position (suivant son meilleur chrono obtenu lors de la séance d'essais d'hier), Louis-Philippe Dumoulin se dirigeait vers une remontée intéressante lorsqu'il a été poussé par un compétiteur vers le mur extérieur au 76e tour. Cet incident a causé des dommages irréparables à la voiture #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare forçant l'équipe à se retirer de la course.

 

Les officiels de la série NASCAR Pinty's ont dû s'adapter aux soubresauts de la météo hier (samedi 19 août). Les qualifications ont été annulées à cause de la pluie et les positions de départ de l'épreuve de 300 tours ont été déterminées selon les temps enregistrés lors de la séance d'essais.

 

La course a bien commencé pour le pilote de la voiture #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare toutefois, le choc contre le mur (76e tour) a endommagé la suspension arrière et les engrenages du pont arrière. L'équipe a travaillé d'arrache-pied afin de remettre la voiture en état de marche, cependant, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a dû entrer aux puits à plusieurs reprises lorsque d'autres problèmes mécaniques se sont manifestés.

 

« La voiture se comportait très bien jusqu'à l'incident en début de course. Malgré l'énorme travail accompli par l'équipe, les dommages majeurs n'ont pu être réparés sur place. Cette situation nous coûte cher en points perdus au championnat, toutefois nous serons de retour encore plus forts pour la prochaine épreuve », explique Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
