West Haven, VT – Defending American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. took his third win of the season in the People's United Bank 100 at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Saturday, June 6.

Hudson, NH's "Joey Pole" worked his way up from the seventh starting position and got inside Tour point leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. on lap 74 of the 100-lap event. Pole completed the pass a lap later and motored away to win a caution-free race.

"You never really expect a race to go caution-free, but with this Tour, it can happen," Pole said. "100 laps is kind of a short race for us, so our plan was to try and get to the front as quick as we could. But in the beginning I was battling with Travis Stearns and couldn't really make much ground. So I backed off for a little while, and finally said 'let's try it again'.

"The car really came into itself. I could not have asked for a better car."

Helliwell jumped to the lead off the outside pole and led the first 24 laps. Polesitter Nick Sweet got underneath Helliwell for lead on lap 25, but the Dover, NH veteran returned the favor 11 laps later.

The two remained in tight formation as they negotiated lapped traffic. Sweet ducked inside of Helliwell on multiple occasions, but Helliwell was able to hold him at bay.

As the two dueled, Pole steadily made his way through the field, eventually catching the lead duo. Pole got around Sweet for second on lap 67 and found his way back to Helliwell's bumper to set up the winning pass eight laps later.

Sweet finally got past Helliwell in the final laps to take second. Helliwell ended up third, but unofficially retains the point lead. Josh Masterson, Brad Babb, Dillon Moltz, Emily Packard, Brian Hoar, Kyle Welch, and Brandon Atkins rounded up the top-10.

Heat race wins went to Hoar, Rowland Robinson Jr., and Babb. Pole and Packard won the consis.

The ACT Tour will have a week off before returning to action with a 150-lap event at White Mountain Motorsports Park in N. Woodstock, NH on Saturday, June 20. Post time is 5:00pm.

OMRS to Host its Second Annual 'Test a Modified Day' at Peterborough Speedway

With starting fields of close to 20 taking the green flag at recent events, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – is looking to build on the consistency of their popular brand by introducing drivers from other divisions to the experience of open wheeled modified racing with the second annual 'Test a Modified Day' at Peterborough Speedway. Richard Warnes – speaking on behalf of the group of OMRS officials that also includes Randy Hollingsworth and Bill Pickford – says it's a great chance to see what the series is all about.

 

"We've enjoyed a great working relationship with J.P. Josiasse and Dave Sikma over the last couple of seasons," said Warnes. "In 2014, they were gracious hosts for our test event that helped familiarize drivers from the 4Fun, Mini Stock, Thunder Car and even the Ontario Legend divisions to our cars."

 

This year's session is slated for Saturday, June 13th from 10:00 until 2:00before the regular night of racing on Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. After an orientation session, drivers will strap-in behind the controls of a restricted Ontario Modifieds Racing Series ride and head to the track under the direction of 2014 series champion Robert Warnes, with assistance from a variety of current and former OMRS drivers. Richard Warnes says there are a couple of prerequisites all participants will need to know if they plan to be part of the session. 

 

"Everyone will need to supply a helmet, driver's suit and safety gear," said Warnes. "While we understand that this is a unique opportunity, the modifieds are powerful machines. It is a test session and not a driving school. Only those with experience in another division at any track will be allowed to participate and in the interest of safety, all applicants will be thoroughly checked before they go on the track."

 

Warnes and the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series officials have also asked that all participants attending the 'Test a Modified Day' bring a non-perishable food donation for the Peterborough's Kawartha Food Share Food Bank as a goodwill gesture. All food collected will be given to Peterborough Speedway officials, who will make the contribution on behalf of OMRS.

 

Drivers can take the first step toward a new motorsports division at the second annual Ontario Modifieds Racing Series 'Test a Modified Day' – Saturday, June 13th – from 10:00 'til 2:00 – at Peterborough Speedway.

Étant très limité dans les dates disponibles, l'Autodrome Chaudière, en partenariat avec ACT-LMS Québec avons pris la décision de remettre la course ACT prévue le 30 mai au samedi, 11 juillet lors de l'évènement du Langis Caron 150.

Pour cet évènement, le programme se déroulera sur deux jours. Le vendredi 10 juillet en soirée, vous pourrez assister à un spécial Classes locales avec qualifications et deux finales par classe. La première finale Sport Compact Élite de la soirée sera aussi, la première manche de la Triple Couronne Sport Compact Oricom dans une épreuve de 50 tours.

Une campagne de financement pour la classe Sport Compact Amateur




Il me fait plaisir de vous faire part de la campagne de financement qui a été mise sur pieds par les pilotes de la classe Sport Compact Amateur.

Se lançant le défi au printemps dernier de mettre sur pied une campagne de financement leur permettant de remettre davantage aux pilotes lors des programmes, les membres des équipes #07, #09, #14, #13, #18, #72 et #700 ont décidé de monter une voiture Sport Compact Amateur pour par la suite, procéder à la vente de billets donnant la chance de gagner cette voiture.

Soutenue par l'Autodrome Chaudière, ces pilotes et équipiers peuvent dire mission accomplie en ce qui concerne la conception du véhicule.

Les billets sont maintenant en vente auprès de ces équipes au coût de 5$. Ils seront présents lors du Tailgate du 12 juin prochain ainsi que lors du programme Nascar du 13 juin prochain. Le tirage se fera le 20 juin et l'heureux gagnant se verra repartir avec une voiture prête pour la course.

Une belle initiative de la part de ces équipes qui ont à cœur de conserver leur classe et d'encourager la relève à se joindre à eux.

North Carolina Standout Prepares For Crown-Jewel Weekend Featuring Twin Preliminary Features on Thursday & Friday & $100,000-to-win Finale on Saturday

ROSSBURG, Ohio – June 3, 2015 – With a string of impressive performances and breakthrough victories, Chris Ferguson is well on his way to making 2015 the best season of his career. This weekend, he'll attempt to add even more luster to his stellar season with a strong showing on the sport's biggest stage at Eldora Speedway's Dream XXI presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers.

"We've been blessed to have the success we've had this year and it's been awesome," said the 25-year-old Ferguson, whose breakthrough WoO LMS victories came at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, N.C., on May 1 and Fayetteville (N.C) Motor Speedway on May 2. "To go up to Eldora and back that up with a strong showing at the Dream, that would just make it all that much more meaningful."

Ferguson is riding plenty of momentum entering Eldora's crown jewel event, which features twin preliminary features on both Thursday and Friday nights that determine drivers' starting spot in Saturday's heat races. With its $100,000 winner's paycheck, Saturday's 100-lap DIRTcar UMP Late Model-sanctioned finale serves as the highest paying annual Dirt Late Model event.

Along with his two WoO LMS triumphs, Ferguson has a pair of regional victories on the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series for a total of four victories in 12 A-Main starts this season.

He has also fared well away from the Carolinas with trips to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pa., for a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event and Tyler County Speedway in Middleburg, W.Va., for a pair of WoO LMS events during the Jackpot 100 weekend. Ferguson impressed during both trips, with a top-five at Roaring Knob and a top five and a top 10 at Tyler County. He also set fast time and won his heat race at both Roaring Knob and in the Tyler County opener.

"Right now, we're kind of on Cloud Nine with the way we've been running," said Ferguson, who will return to Eldora this weekend for the first time since 2012. "We're not doing anything crazy to the race car. We're unloading every week with the same thing and we're fast right out of the box.

"I've ran good in some big races before with national tours and other big races, but I've never been this competitive week to week against these guys. Running all these big races, I think that's really going to help us to go (to Eldora) with confidence, where before we've always just gone up there somewhat unsure of ourselves."

Even with his big-race success this season, Ferguson still heads to Eldora as a considerable underdog in an event that will feature the sport's biggest national stars and top regional standouts. But that's a role that Ferguson and his low-budget, family-owned race team have grown accustomed to over the years. While Ferguson certainly hopes his success may lead to opportunities to race nationally more often with perhaps a top-level race team, he's enjoying his current underdog status.

"I like being that guy that comes to the track with one car and one motor and surprises everyone," said Ferguson, whose team fields a single Longhorn Chassis powered by a Clements Racing Engine. "Sometimes I don't like it so much, but it makes you feel all that much better when you go out and win against guys that do it for a living with the big rigs and the full-time crews.

"If I ever got a chance to race for a top team and travel, I'd love to be able to do it and I think I could run good. But you just never know. I know we're pretty competitive in our area racing like we are. I'd love to have the opportunity to go out and race all over country and see how I do, but right now I'm happy with our team and the way we do things and what we've accomplished."

Ferguson knows he'll be racing against one of the toughest fields of competitors of any event all season this weekend at Eldora, but even with that knowledge and his underdog status, he's confident in his chances of running well.

He's shown flashes of promise in his limited experience at Eldora. A 23rd-place finish in the 2011 World 100 marks Ferguson's only A-Main start in four appearances between the Dream and World. He ran well early in that race, advancing from 25th to 11th before dropping out with mechanical issues.

Ferguson has also typically qualified well at Eldora, including a fourth-fastest qualifying effort in his most recent trip to Eldora for the 2012 Dream. He nearly made the A-Main for that event as well, but mechanical problems while running in a feature transfer spot in his heat race ended his weekend.

With three years since his last Eldora appearance, Ferguson will have to readjust himself to the famed track and the new expanded three-night format instituted for the Dream and World 100 in 2013. But he's confident the extra track time provided by the new format will help him do just that.

"When we made the show (at the 2011 World 100), I was so much more comfortable the next time we went back there," Ferguson said. "Back when we were going up there before, you got so little track time that it was hard to get comfortable and get your car how you needed. Now, I'm looking forward to going up there and getting all those extra laps."

This week's action will feature a slight tweak to the three-night format with drivers prelim feature finishes on Thursday and Friday determining their starting spots for Saturday's heat races, whereas in the past only qualifying times from Thursday and Friday factored into Saturday's action. With that in mind, Ferguson knows it's important to perform well during the preliminary action.

"We have a good baseline setup for just about anywhere we go, but then Eldora isn't just anywhere," Ferguson said. "Hopefully we will make both preliminary features and have some time to learn the track and learn my car even more and at the same time put ourselves in good position for a heat race on Saturday."

Like many regional competitors heading to Eldora, Ferguson's goal for the weekend is simply to make the 28-car starting field for Saturday's 100-lap main event. But he's certainly not ruling out challenging for a career-best victory.

"If we can go up there and run good Thursday and Friday and make the show on Saturday, that would just be a good trip for us," Ferguson said. "But to be a contender or run a top 10, that would definitely say a lot about us and the success we've had. It'd not only validate the way we've ran all year close to home, but it would also show people we can go run with those guys even at the biggest races."

The Dirt Late Model Dream, sanctioned by DIRTcar, is the richest dirt late model race in the world with $100,000 going to the winner of Saturday night's 100-lap feature event. A total purse of $306,625 is available for the three nights of racing, including $214,875 available on Saturday.

Warner Outduels Desjardins for DIRTcar Sportsman Victory at Can-Am Motorsports Park

Rocky Roof DanceLaFARGEVILLE, N.Y. – June 3, 2015 – Rocky Warner and Mathieu Desjardins waged a 35-lap green-to-checkers, wheel-to-wheel duel on Wednesday night at Chapman's Can-Am Motorsports Park in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified main event with Warner eventually grabbing the checkered flag.

Desjardins actually pulled out front in the early going before Warner was able to retake the point as the leaders were in heavy lapped traffic. Warner eventually drove to the win. Jessica Power charged forward to finished third with Dave Marcuccilli and Brad Rouse rounding out the top five.
