Date Change For NASCAR K&N Pro East At New Hampshire

·         Group Qualifying For Bristol, New Hampshire Events

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2015) – NASCAR and New Hampshire Motor Speedway confirmed today the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at the "Magic Mile" has been moved to Saturday, July 16. This change creates a unique triple-header at the short track, with the series joining the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR XFINITY Series on the Saturday slate of racing.

 

In addition, NASCAR announced the implementation of group qualifying for that race at New Hampshire, as well as the race on Saturday, April 16, at Bristol Motor Speedway.

 

"It is a continuous process of working with our race tracks to provide the best entertainment for our fans," said Brad Moran, NASCAR touring series director. "With our race weekends at Bristol and New Hampshire, we have the opportunity to test the group qualifying format on an oval at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series level."

 

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will kick off the season on Sunday, Feb. 14, at New Smyrna (Florida) Speedway with the Jet Tools 150.

Waterbury, VT – Colchester, VT's Scott Payea and Somerville, MA's Jim Linardy have filed the first official full-season entries for the 2016 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) season, officials announced today. The 13-race, $10,000-to-win ACT Late Model Tour championship chase kicks off Sunday, April 10 with the New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway.

 

Payea returns to the cockpit following a two-year absence and will seek his first ACT Championship behind the wheel of the Rick Paya–owned #37VT Harrison Redi-Mix Dodge. He has five career ACT Late Model Tour wins and finished second in the final standings for three consecutive seasons from 2007 to 2009.

 

"I'm excited to partner up with a great team," Payea said. "We've got the support of a great sponsor, and I just can't wait for spring. The Tour schedule's looking good – we're returning to some tracks that I've had success at, like Seekonk and Waterford, so we're really pumped up about it. Being a championship contender is certainly our goal, and I think we have the resources in place to make that happen."

 

Linardy has been an ACT regular for the past decade and returns again in 2016 with his familiar #77MA Kayem Hot Dogs Chevrolet. The veteran known as "Scruffy" is known throughout the garage for his upbeat attitude and respect for his fellow competitors.

 

The ACT Late Model Tour will visit 12 different tracks throughout the Northeast United States during the 2016 season. Highlights will include doubleheader events with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models at Oxford Plains Speedway, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and White Mountain Motorsports Park; The Southern New England Tripleheader slated for New-London Waterford Speedbowl, Seekonk Speedway, and Thompson Speedway; and the 8thBond Auto Parts ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Early Entrants Abound For Expanded PASS Winter Meltdown At Greenville-Pickens

 

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 20) – With the release today of the complete weekend schedule for the upcoming PASS Winter Meltdown 150 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Super Late Model teams from across North America are beginning to make their final preparations.  This year's third running of the early-season event looks to be the biggest yet as the Meltdown moves to its new home in the Palmetto State.   Northern drivers have dominated the two previous runnings of the PASS Winter Meltdown in Florida with New Hampshire's Brad Leighton taking the checkered flag at New Smyrna Speedway in 2010 and Maine's Joey Doiron claiming the victory at Auburndale Speedway in 2013.

Being on Super Bowl weekend, the PASS Winter Meltdown will be short track racing's first major points event of 2016 and will also feature a 100 lap event for the South East Limited Late Models (Non-Winners), a 75 lapper for the Southeast Supertrucks, both paying $3,000 to win, and a 40 lap event for the Mini Stocks paying $2,000 to the winner.  Rookie Hayden Humphries recently tested at Greenville-Pickens Speedway and plans to do "double-duty," competing in both the PASS Super Late Model and Southeast Limited Late Model races.  The PASS Winter Meltdown 150 lapper will go green on Saturday afternoon, February 6 at 2 PM and will serve as the first race of 2016 for the PASS South Super Late Models and the PASS National Championship Series. 

The first batch of PASS Super Late Models entries has been released and includes drivers from all over the United States.  Northwest short track legend Garrett Evans will pilot the famous #64 in the PASS Winter Meltdown.  The Washington state driver will compete in several PASS events throughout the season, with an eye towards possible competing for the PASS National Championship.  Texas youngster Derek Scott, Jr. will make his first trip to Greenville-Pickens Speedway for the Winter Meltdown.  Scott competed in three PASS South events last year, including the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway, where he was the fastest qualifier and led the most laps.  Michigan driver Vinnie Miller returns in 2016 after several impressive runs late last year.  Miller has already announced his intention to compete on the full schedule as he races for the PASS South Super Late Model championship this year.  

A strong group of contenders from North Carolina have also pre-entered, including two former PASS champions.  Tate Fogleman from Durham claimed his first PASS South Super Late Model championship in 2015 and hopes to become the first driver in series history to repeat.  Fellow teenager Kodie Conner from Kannapolis moves up to the PASS South Super Late Model division full-time in 2016 after taking the PASS Pro Late Model title last year.  Matt Craig, another teenaged driver from Kannapolis, looks to build on a strong finish to the 2015 season in the C&C Boilers machine which saw him finish fourth in points.  Veteran Jimmy Doyle of Hendersonville finished fifth in PASS South points in 2015 and will be seeking his first career win.  And, North Carolina's Jeff Batten has filed an entry for the Meltdown, following a career best sixth place finish in the final PASS South Super Late Model standings last year.

            Action gets underway at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Friday, February 5th with gates opening at 9 AM and rotating practice for the PASS Super Late Models, Southeast Limited Late Models, Southeast Supertrucks, and Mini Stocks from 11 AM – 5 PM.  On Saturday, February 6th, gates will open at 8 AM, with rotating practice from 10 AM – 12:05 PM, qualifying at 12:30 PM, and feature events set to go green at 2 PM.

Seven-Race Chase Formats to be Implemented in 2016

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 19, 2016) – Using the overwhelming success of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup format introduced in 2014 as a guidepost, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France announced today the implementation of a playoff system in both the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

 

On the heels of a 2015 Chase that saw the highest season-finale viewership in nearly a decade, record-breaking page views on NASCAR.com and unparalleled volume on social media, the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will each feature a seven-race Chase to decide its respective championships starting in 2016. The announcement was the first of a number of racing innovations presented by NASCAR on Tuesday.

 

"Fans, partners and the industry have embraced the new Chase format like nothing we've seen in the sport's history," said France. "Winning never has been this important, and the excitement generated the past two seasons in the Sprint Cup Series has led to this implementation of the Chase format in all three national series. Competition in both the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will undoubtedly elevate to new heights and shine a spotlight on the rising stars of our sport."

 

The NASCAR XFINITY Series, where "Names Are Made," and the rugged NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will implement seven-race, three-round Chase formats with unique characteristics but very much in the same spirit of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. All three series will conclude the Chase with a Championship 4 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway to crown a champion. However, all three will begin at different tracks: Chicago (Sprint Cup Series), Kentucky (XFINITY Series) and New Hampshire (Camping World Truck Series)

 

Drivers still must declare a series in which they will earn points, and will only be eligible to compete for a championship in that series. The 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers who qualified for the 2015 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup will be ineligible to compete in the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship 4 races at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

 

NASCAR XFINITY SERIES CHASE

The seven-race NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase will begin at Kentucky Speedway on Sept. 24, and feature 12 drivers and two elimination rounds, with four drivers competing in the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

 

A win in the first 26 races all but guarantees a driver entry into the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase, provided the driver is in the top 30 in points and has attempted to qualify for each race. Drivers who win two Dash 4 Cash bonuses are also all but guaranteed a Chase berth.

 

The first round, called the Round of 12, consists of the races at Kentucky, Dover and Charlotte. All drivers will start with their points adjusted to 2,000, with three additional bonus points added to their total for each win in the first 26 races. If a driver wins a race in the Round of 12, the driver automatically advances to the next round. The remaining available positions (1-8) that have not been filled by wins will be filled on points.

 

Each driver who advances to the Round of 8 (Kansas, Texas, Phoenix) then will have their points reset to 3,000. Drivers who win a race in the Round of 8 automatically advance to the Championship 4. The remaining available positions (1-4) that have not been filled by wins will be filled on points.

 

The four drivers who advance to the Championship 4 at Homestead will have their points reset to 4,000. The highest finishing Championship 4 driver will be crowned the NASCAR XFINITY Series champion.

 

NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES CHASE

The seven-race NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase will begin at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept. 24. It will feature eight drivers and two elimination rounds, with four drivers competing in the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. A win in the first 16 races all but guarantees a driver entry into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase, provided that the driver is in the Top 30 in points and has attempted to qualify for each race.

 

The first round, called the Round of 8, consists of the races at New Hampshire, Las Vegas, and Talladega. All drivers will have their points adjusted to 2,000, with three additional bonus points added to their total for each win in the first 16 races. If a driver wins a race in the Round of 8, the driver automatically advances to the next round. The remaining available positions (1-6) that have not been filled by wins will be filled on points.

 

Each driver who advances to the Round of 6 (Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix) then will have their points reset to 3,000. Drivers who win a race in the Round of 6 automatically advance to the Championship 4. The remaining available positions (1-4) that have not been filled by wins will be filled on points.

 

The four drivers who advance to the Championship 4 at Homestead will have their points reset to 4,000. The highest finishing Championship 4 driver will win the championship.

 

All rules outlined above also apply to both series' owner championship structure.

 

The 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular season will kick off with the 58th running of the Daytona 500® on Sunday, Feb. 21 at Daytona International Speedway®. Une deuxième saison pour Wylliam Perron



Une deuxième saison pour Wylliam Perron

Bien que certains pilotes  Mini Sportsman graduent pour la saison 2016 dans une classe supérieure, d'autres continueront leur apprentissages en piste. C'est le cas du #7 Wylliam Perron qui entamera sa deuxième saison en Mini Sportsman.

Cette saison, il n'y aura pas deux classes distinctes comme l'an dernier. Tous les pilotes courseront dans la même classe.

Un nouveau défi pour Wylliam qui aura à prendre sa place parmi les pilotes qui étaient dans la classe Élite l'an dernier.

Questionné à savoir son meilleur souvenir avec la série, le jeune pilote de Pont-Rouge évoque immédiatement les podiums qu'il a remportés. Pilote compétitif, Wylliam désire continuer à performer cette saison et se hisser à nouveau sur une des marches du podium.

Nous te souhaitons une belle saison parmi nous Wylliam !

Tony STEWART Chilli Bowl altercation

Tony Stewart is known for being generous with his time for grass-root racing and causes. This year is no different has he volunteered his time to work the Chilli Bowl National track. Riding the tractor he was giving it his best for the racers to have the best possible surface to race on and put on the best show.

Videos started showing up on the internet that show a Tony Stewart going up in the stands to have a chat with a spectator who is reported has having given him the bird and chanting repeatedly - for as much as 20 minutes - "killer" as Stewart would circle the track on his tractor.

Good? Bad? ugly?


I have a 5 fold opinion on it:

As a professional race car driver OR for the fan OR anyone at a track, the chest-pumping-insult-fisting behavior is unwelcomed in what is supposed to be a family-friendly environment. Much like any aggressive, drunk, pot smoking should not be. Do it in your kid-free living room.

Security should have handled the situation before it became an issue, like it is done at ball games, hockey match, cinema screening, etc. Heck I remember seeing people thrown down flights of stairs or entire row of seats by security at Expos and Canadiens games for alot less noticeable actions.

Tony should have friends or employees around to help manage his temper and behavior espacially since the Ward incident. Reports say he budged after enduring 20 mins of bs by this obnoxious fan. He had plenty of time and occasions to call upon someone... As a professional should to protect the image of his sponsors, his company and to an extent the Bowl and racing.

From a promotion side, the fact that punches weren't thrown, that a car didn't kill someone could you ask for anything better? Look and listen at the people screaming Tony Tony. It makes it look like a scene out of Gladiator with chariot racing or Bull fighters in an arena. And please tell me the social
media "coverage" isn't going to help future attendance or PPV subscription.

I probably would of snapped the second time around the track on that tractor. So I fully understand Tony wanting to "let him know his side of the story". Regardless of what I wrote above: Kudos to Tony for being what he is. Blame to track security for not taking care of business. After all, would the "face-to-face" defiance have been tolerated by officials had it been anyone else than Tony or a driver? I don't think it would have.

Comme il a été annoncé dans les derniers jours, la Série Sportsman Qc aura cette année un championnat régional. C'est avec grand plaisir que nous vous confirmons aujourd'hui  la venue des Habitations Dany Lagacé comme commanditaire principal du championnat régional.

Ce championnat comprendra 6 courses à l'Autodrome Chaudière ainsi qu'une course le 4 juin prochain au Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix. Après le programme du 26 août, nous retirerons le pire résultat obtenu par le pilote à l'Autodrome Chaudière parmi les pilotes qui ont participé à toutes les épreuves. Il est à noter qu'une non-présence ne sera pas comptabilisée comme un mauvais résultat, mais comptera comme une absence.

Un fond de points sera remis aux 10 premiers pilotes au classement; pour être éligible, le pilote devra avoir participé à 100% des courses.

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway is proud to announce the return of Rutland Regional Medical Center for the 2016 stock car racing season.  Rutland Regional joined the Devil's Bowl family to support the annual "Hometown Heroes Night" event at the West Haven, Vt., facility last summer, and will do the same again in the track's upcoming landmark 50th season on Saturday, June 25.

The Hometown Heroes event is a long-standing tradition at Devil's Bowl Speedway as serves as a tribute to local first responders members of the Armed Forces; all emergency rescue personnel, fire fighters, police, and corrections officers are admitted to the event free of charge, along with all active duty military and veterans.  In recent years, the event has been kicked off by a siren-blaring parade of local fire trucks and police cars around the speedway.   The Red Knights Firefighters Motorcycle Club charity ride – which begins at Rutland Regional Medical Center – is also a frequent part of the parade and will return in 2016.

Un consortium Beauceron prend les reines de l'Autodrome Chaudière

En ce début janvier, nous pouvons vous confirmer officiellement la vente de l'Autodrome Chaudière à un groupe d'hommes d'affaires de la région de la Beauce. Ce groupe a mis en place un conseil d'administration de 5 personnes afin de s'occuper de la gestion de l'Autodrome Chaudière. À cette table, on retrouve M. Marc Bégin de Pièces d'Autos Fernand Bégin, M. Michel Lessard ancien propriétaire de l'Autodrome Chaudière, M. Stéphan Cliche de Étiquesse inc, M. Jean Poulin du Garage Clément Poulin et M. Normand Gilbert de HLS BEGIN Inc.

Se fiant sur leurs expériences respectives ainsi que sur les compétences de chacun qui se complètent très bien, le CA a accordé sa confiance à M. Pierre Lessard comme directeur général et responsable des classes régionales au niveau technique ainsi qu'à la négociation des séries Stock-Car. André Poulin agir à titre de promoteur; les deux travailleront conjointement à la gestion d'événements.

Moi, Marie-Claude Levasseur, serai à nouveau de retour à titre de relationniste en plus de prendre en charge la gestion administrative des classes régionales ainsi que les statistiques.

Ayant été une formule gagnante dans le passée à l'Autodrome Chaudière, il a été décidé que pour 7 des évènements de stock-car prévu, le programme aura lieu le vendredi soir plutôt que dans la journée du samedi tel que nous l'avons connu dans les dernières années. Outre la rentabilité prouvée de ces programmes, ce changement a pour but de permettre aussi aux équipes de profiter du weekend pour leurs activités familiales. Il va s'en dire que la programmation sera plus condensée et spectaculaire en plus d'offrir des prix plus abordables pour la famille. Pour ce faire, les enfants de 0 à 17 ans auront accès gratuitement du côté estrade du site et paieront 5$ s'ils désirent avoir accès aux puits.

Les Sport Compact Amateurs deviennent la classe Amateur (4 et 6 cylindres)  et la classe Limité devient la classe Semi Pro. Le nom de la classe Sport Compact Élite reste tel quel.

La série Sportsman Qc devient la classe vedette des vendredis soirs et partagera la piste avec ces 3 classes régionales ainsi que les Mini Sportsman.

Nouveauté lors des intermissions

Dans le but de divertir les spectateurs présents, il y aura l'ajout d'évènements récréatifs différents à chaque programme qui se déroulement  lors des intermissions.

NAPLES, ME (January 12) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today the release of the 2016 schedule for the PASS North Super Late Models.  The Northeast's top short trackers will once again compete at some of the best speedways in New England, highlighted by the 43rd Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  The season will begin with the return of PASS to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut as part of the Icebreaker weekend April 9-10.  PASS will continue to build on its relationship with the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) by hosting four doubleheader events together in 2016.  PASS will also return to White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH for the first time since 2013.  The PASS North Super Late Models will compete on 8 different speedways in 4 states in 2016.

            "We're very happy with the strong group of tracks that we have assembled for our racers to compete on in 2016," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "There was a lot of excitement surrounding our partnership with ACT in 2015 and we're excited to build on that next year.  The move of the Oxford 250 to August solidified its place as one of short track racing's biggest events and we're glad to continue that in 2016.  We're also excited to once again be returning to Thompson and White Mountain next year."

The 43rd Annual Oxford 250 continues on its late August weekend in 2016 with racers from all across North America expected to compete for $25,000 to win, plus guaranteed lap leader money on August 26-28.  On Saturday night, August 27, the ACT Late Models will join the Valenti Modifieds for a big night of action leading up to the 250.  Additionally, the ACT Late Model winner will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the next day's 43rd Annual Oxford 250 as long as they attempt to qualify. 

A tune-up to the Oxford 250 will take place on Saturday, July 31.  In addition, Oxford Plains Speedway will once again host the PASS North Super Late Models, along with the ACT Late Models on Sunday, April 17 and will crown the PASS North champion with the season finale on Saturday, October 15. 

PASS will also stage a special Independence Day weekend show at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, July 3. This event will be a non-points event, featuring PASS "non-winners" and an Enduro race.

Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, with continued support from Southern Maine Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, will host the PASS North Super Late Models three times in 2016 on Saturday, April 30, Saturday, July 9, and the inaugural New England 500 on September 17-18.  On Saturday, September 17, the PASS Super Late Models and ACT Late Models will qualify, with feature racing for the Valenti Modifieds and support divisions.  On Sunday, September 18, the New England 500 will consist of the PASS 300 for the PASS Super Late Models and the Fall Foliage 200 for the ACT Late Models. 

Speedway 95 in Hermon, ME returns to the PASS North schedule for a third consecutive year with a 150 lap event slated for Sunday, May 15.

PASS will make its first of six trips in 2016 to the state of New Hampshire on Saturday, May 7 at Star Speedway. PASS returns to White Mountain Motorsports Park twice in 2016 after an absence of three years with events there onSaturday, June 11 and Saturday, July 23, when they will be paired with the ACT Late Models.  The series will also be in the Granite State on Friday, June 24 for an event at Lee USA Speedway and again on Friday, August 12.  PASS will be back at Star Speedway on Saturday, October 1 for the penultimate event of the 2016 season.

The Super Late Models of PASS will compete for only the second time ever at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Vermont on Sunday, May 29. The PASS North Super Late Models will race for 150 laps and the Thunder Road Late Models will join them for the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic 100.

Des annonces majeures pour le 10e anniversaire

Après plusieurs semaines d'attentes, nous sommes heureux de vous présenter le calendrier de la saison 2016. 

La série Sportsman Qc s'est toujours démarquée par son calendrier varié et ses programmes diversifiés. Elle continue de le faire pour sa 10e année. 

En effet, pour 2016, M. André Poulin, promoteur de la série, innove une fois de plus en mettant en place un double championnat dans la série soit un championnat régional comprenant 6 courses à l'Autodrome Chaudière et 1 course au Riverside Speedway avec fond de points et un championnat provincial sous la bannière Lucas Oil avec un deuxième fonds de points. De plus, il y aura une majoration de 33% du fond de points total face à 2015 et ainsi qu'au titre de recrue de l'année Méchoui International. 

Les pistes de l'Autodrome Chaudière, de l'Autodrome Montmagny, du Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix et de l'Autodrome St-Félicien seront celles visitées en 2016. 

Pour souligner le 10e anniversaire de la Série Sportsman Qc, quelques soirées spéciales et prix spéciaux serontofferts aux pilotes pendant la saison. Des annonces dans ce sens seront faites lors de la 2e réunion en mars.
