Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) opens its 25th season of ACT Late Model racing, along with the 33rd season of racing at Lee USA Speedway, with the New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 on Sunday, April 10. The traditional ACT season opener often sets the tone for what to watch throughout the season, and the 2016 edition should be no exception.

 

ACT competition at the 1/3-mile speedway has historically been hard to predict. The previous 13 ACT Late Model Tour events at Lee have seen 12 different winners, with Brian Hoar's back-to-back Governor's Cup wins in 2011 and 2012 standing as the only repeat triumph. Former Lee USA Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH became the latest ACT winner at the track when he captured the 2015 Governor's Cup, the first of his four wins en route to the 2015 ACT Championship.

 

Surprise performances at the event also abound, and performances by these drivers have frequently led to even bigger things for them. Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert was the surprise winner of the 2013 Governor's Cup, which kick-started a breakout season that saw him finish third in ACT points. In 2015, Windham, ME's Brad Babb scored a then career-best runner-up finish at Lee. Babb went on to win two races and finish third in the final 2015 standings.

 

"That race gave us a lot of confidence that running for Joey Laquerre was the right decision," Babb said. "It wasn't really much of a decision at all – my mind was made up as soon as he asked me to drive the car – but it solidified that we could run up front with the best of ACT. It gave us a lot of confidence going forward for the rest of the season.

 

"I've pretty much been ready for this season since last season ended," Babb added. "I had a lot of fun last year, and I want to get back into it again."

 

Helliwell and Babb will be among the top contenders when the ACT Late Models roll into Lee, NH next month. Rowley, MA's Eddie MacDonald, the 2014 Governor's Cup winner, is expected to try and reclaim the title at his home track. The event marks the return of Scott Payea to ACT competition, and he does so at a track where he has posted multiple podium finishes.

 

As history has shown, the stage could be set for an unexpected winner as well. Kyle Welch earned a top-10 finish at Lee last year en route to his best ACT season to date. Teenager Ryan Olsen is a multi-time Late Model winner at White Mountain Motorsports Park and will make his debut for Joey Pole Racing. Former Série ACT Champion Alex Labbé has entered the event and will look to become the first Canadian ACT winner at Lee since D.J. Kennington in 2004. Multi-time White Mountain Late Model Champion Quinny Welch has also entered the event.

 

The New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway kicks off the 25th season of ACT Late Model racing on Sunday, April 10. Teams will have a full practice day on Saturday, April 9.

Nouveau départ pour Mickaël Isabelle



La pression était forte sur le jeune pilote de Shannon l'an dernier. Alors qu'il faisait ses débuts dans la série Sportsman Qc à bord afin de rendre un dernier hommage à son oncle, le défunt #95 Steve Lesage, tous les yeux étaient tournés vers lui afin de constater ses performances.



Et il aura définitivement livré la marchandise. Remportant le titre de recrue de l'année ainsi que du pilote le plus amélioré, il a terminé sa première saison en 6e position au classement général avec une victoire en qualification. Le travail accompli tout au long de la saison par l'équipe a aussi été souligné lors du banquet de la série lorsque le président, André Poulin leur a remis le prix de l'équipe de l'année.

Le parcours de Mickaël

 

Dès son jeune âge, Mickaël accompagne son père, Mario Isabelle qui est chef mécanicien pour l'équipe #95. Steve est plus que son oncle, c'est son idole; l'amour de la vitesse et de la mécanique les unit. Il parcourt, semaine après semaine, les pistes de la région et se souvient que son parrain vivait pour les courses, pour performer!

 

C'est à l'âge de 15 ans, soit en 2009, qu'il participe à sa première course lors d'un Enduro 150 tours sur la piste du Circuit Ste-Croix Riverside Speedway. Avec une voiture fournie par son oncle Gilles Hamel, il termine cette épreuve en 11e position sur 58 voitures, et ce malgré une crevaison. Lui qui idolâtrait son parrain depuis toujours a su que la passion des courses faisait aussi partie de lui! En 2013, il fait 4 sorties dans la classe Sport Compact Amateur (anciennement Kamikaze) où il se démarquera en remportant 2 podiums. En 2014, suite à l'annonce d'un cancer chez un membre très près de son entourage, Mickaël ne participera qu'à un seul programme où il terminera en 4e position.

 

Lorsque ses grands-parents Lesage lui ont demandé de prendre le volant de la voiture #95 pour la saison 2015, il en venait de soi pour lui d'assurer la continuité de cette passion familiale.

 

Pour 2016, Mickaël Isabelle reprend ses couleurs; c'est à bord de la voiture #77 qu'il roulera. Avec une équipe expérimentée, il reviendra en piste avec l'objectif d'être encore plus compétitif et de se hisser parmi les 5 premiers et assurément avec l'envie de monter pour la première fois sur les marches du podium avec la série Sportsman.

De nouveaux partenaires et un calendrier de cinq événements cette saison

 

 

Montréal (Québec), le 13 mars 2016.- C'est ce dimanche que les officiels de la série Super Production Challenge (SPC) ont dévoilé aux concurrents, officiels, médias et commanditaires les grandes lignes de la saison 2016 qui promet d'être particulièrement intéressante, alors que la série SPC débute son partenariat avec Pneus BFGoodrich® Canada et propose à ses pilotes un calendrier de quinze courses réparties sur cinq événements, au Circuit ICAR à Mirabel, à l'Autodrome St-Eustache et en Ontario, au Calabogie Motorsports Park.

 

 

Cette saison 2016 de la série SPC débutera dans exactement deux mois et la grande majorité des pilotes ayant disputé la saison 2015, en plus de plusieurs nouveaux arrivants, sont attendus pour ce qui s'annonce comme un véritable renouveau de la série. « La venue de Pneus BFGoodrich® Canada à titre de partenaire majeur de la série, avec la collaboration de Pneus Touchette, nous permet d'amener la série SPC à un autre niveau que ce que l'on a connu jusqu'ici » indique le promoteur de la série, Dominic St-Jean. « Nous avons travaillé fort lors des cinq dernières années pour développer la série et désormais elle grimpe encore d'un échelon, et pas le moindre, en terme d'image et de professionnalisme, tout en gardant le côté accessible pour tous les pilotes, avec entre autres un calendrier d'épreuves intéressant sans être trop contraignant en terme de temps durant la saison estivale » précise-t-il.

Des spectateurs qui verront en action les pilotes de la série SPC à compter du 14 mai, au Calabogie Motorsports Park, situé au sud-ouest d'Ottawa. Trois semaines plus tard, c'est au Circuit ICAR que les concurrents se retrouveront. Après les courses du 4 juin, le Circuit ICAR sera de nouveau le théâtre des manches suivantes, les 2 et 3 juillet, alors que la série SPC se produira cette fois dans le cadre du week-end NASCAR sur la piste de Mirabel. L'Autodrome St-Eustache sera ensuite visité, le 27 août, avant la grande finale au Circuit ICAR, le premier octobre.

 

Deux catégories de voitures seront à nouveau admises, soit la classe SPC pour les véhicules les plus puissants de style Touring Car, et la classe Compact réservée aux modèles sous-compactes. Une trentaine de pilotes sont attendus au départ de chaque épreuve.

Home Track Regulars Are Happy to Share When Friends Come to Play

Fans routinely see some of the strongest short track racing in the province at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. In 2015, more than 140 different drivers scored points in at least one event in the track's 5 regular divisions. While the weekly shows repeatedly offer exciting, edge of your seat action, Peterborough Speedway also plays host to several touring series throughout the year.

 

The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series has made the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road west of the Liftlock City its unofficial home for the past couple of seasons and 6 of this year's events will be staged there. INEX Ontario Legends teams are also fond of the track, with 8 shows on the schedule, including a first-ever appearance in the annual Autumn Colours Classic. OSCAAR's touring teams have long been a favourite with local enthusiasts and in 2016, drivers with the Midget division will be on hand 3 times, while the Modifieds and Super Late Models will thrill fans twice. All 3 groups will be part of the season ending Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing October 7th, 8th and 9th. 

 

After playing to a near capacity crowd as part of their inaugural season, the APC Pro Late Model Series returns to the popular Central Ontario speed plant. The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup squad is also slated for a mid summer 100 lapper and the Can-Am TQ Midgets will make a stop on this year's agenda as part of their 51st anniversary tour. New this year will be the Pro Challenge Series and a pair of shows with the Pro Midgets. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says the upcoming schedule has something for everyone.

 

"We get voicemail messages, talk to people at the track and receive plenty of fan feedback on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter," said Josiasse. "Putting together a calendar that combines our own weekly classes and the touring groups that our fans want to see takes a lot of work, but its all worthwhile. We're in the business of giving people what they want."

 

The 2016 calendar gets underway with the annual Country 105 season opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 21st. The full schedule is available online. Copies can also be picked-up at the 38th annual Peterborough Home, Cottage and Country Show April 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Evinrude Centre and at the Peterborough Speedway display, April 17th through 24th at the Lindsay Square Mall, on Kent Street West in Lindsay.

New Partnerships This Season and a Calendar of Five Events

 

 

 

Montreal (Quebec), March 13, 2016.- This Sunday, the Super Production Challenge (SPC) race series officials unveils to competitors, officials, media, and sponsors the highlights of the 2016 season, which promises to be particularly interesting, as the SPC series begins its partnership with BFGoodrich® Tires Canada and presents to the drivers a fifteen-race calendar spread out over five events that will be held at the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, the Autodrome St-Eustache, and at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario.

 

 

The 2016 season of the SPC series will kick-off in exactly two months and a large majority of the 2015 season regulars, as well as several new competitors, are expected for this series' renewal. « The arrival of BFGoodrich® Tires Canada as major title series sponsor, with the collaboration of Pneus Touchette, enables us to bring the SPC series to another level than what we've known up until now » indicates series promoter, Dominic St-Jean. « During the last five years, we have worked very hard and as a result, the series is climbing yet another step in terms of image and professionalism, still while remaining within reach for all the drivers, with, among other things, an interesting calendar of events without being too time-restrictive during the summer months » he specified.

Spectators will see the series drivers in action as of May 14th, at Calabogie Motorsports Park, located southwest of Ottawa. Three weekends later, the competitors will head to the Circuit ICAR on June 4th.  Following those races, the Circuit ICAR will again set the stage for the next rounds on July 2nd and 3rd, as the SPC series takes part in the NASCAR weekend at the Mirabel track.  The Autodrome St-Eustache will be the last location to host, on August 27th, prior to the grand finale at the Circuit ICAR, on October 1st.

 

Two classes of cars will be added, including the SPC class for the most powerful Touring Car type of cars, as well as a Compact class reserved for sub-compact models.  Approximately thirty drivers are anticipated at each event.

Les Sport Compact Élite reviennent en force

 

Les Sport Compact Élite reviennent en force 



La classe Sport Compact Élite est définitivement la classe régionale la plus populaire de l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction, et ce depuis plusieurs années. 

L'an dernier, nous avons pu voir en piste 32 voitures différentes avec une moyenne de participation de 23 voitures par programmes en 2015. Avec des pilotes des différents coins du Québec, de Victoriaville en passant par Drummondville, de la Beauce et même du Lac St-Jean, c'est une classe complète et bien établie qui a sans doute contribué grandement à l'excellente des classes régionales de l'Autodrome Chaudière.  

L'année 2016 promet d'amener tout autant de pilotes en piste avec plus de 34 voitures qui ont réservé leur numéro. 

Le champion défendant, le #26 Martin Bisson a fait le saut vers la classe Semi-Pro pour la prochaine saison laissant place à son plus grand rival le #75 Steve Godbout. Godbout a à son actif 3 championnats à l'Autodrome Chaudière dans cette classe. L'an dernier, à quelques points seulement du champion, il a terminé en 2e position. Dominant dans la classe depuis quelques années, il aura sans aucun doute de la compétition avec la présence entre autres du #72 Louis-Philippe Lauzier. 

En effet, le pilote de 19 ans de Saint-Pâcome, Louis-Philippe Lauzier prendra part à sa 3e saison en Sport Compact Élite en 2016. L'an dernier, nous avons pu le voir progresser tout au long de la saison tirant son épingle du jeu parmi les meneurs. Terminant en 2e position au championnat de la Triple Couronne et 7e au classement général, il sera sans aucun doute un des pilotes aspirant au titre de champion de la classe pour la saison 2016. 

Godbout et Lauzier ne sont pas les seuls qui en liste pour le titre de champion 2016. Des pilotes comme le #17 Maxime Gagné, le #44 Frédéric Blanchette, le #16 Daniel Demers ainsi que le #91 Alex Houle qui ont tous terminé dans le top 10 l'an dernier seront de retour et viseront sans aucun doute le podium. 

On pourra aussi revoir en piste le #66 Mathieu Godin qui a été nommé recrue de l'année en 2015. Le pilote de Ste-Brigitte de Laval entend bien revenir pour participer au championnat. Fier de l'expérience acquise en 2015 et pouvant compter sur des équipiers expérimentés tels que Sébastien Arseneault, chef d'équipe du #37 Dany Gariepy en Sportsman Qc, Godin revient plus confiant et compétitif et compte prendre sa place en 2016. 

Qu'en est-il de nos recrues ? 

C'est un plaisir de pouvoir confirmer que nous retrouverons en piste pour la prochaine saison pas moins de 8 recrues. De ce nombre, certains ont participé à 1 ou 2 programmes la saison dernière et seront à nouveau éligibles au titre de recrue. C'est le cas du #29 Danny Groleau ainsi que du #28 Steven Lamonde. Aussi, la #92 Kim Ouellette de Saint-Georges, seule femme inscrite en 2016, poursuivra à nouveau son apprentissage à titre de recrue. À bord de la voiture #113, le champion de la série Mini Sportsman, Samuel Boyer pourrait définitivement être la révélation de la saison. Ce talentueux pilote de 15 ans originaire de Québec a acquis beaucoup d'expérience sur ce tracé. Pouvant compter sur son père, Patrick Boyer, ancien pilote de la série Sportsman Qc et actuellement au volant de la voiture #13 en ACT-LMS, c'est avec une voiture bien préparée et les précieux conseils de son père qu'il évoluera en 2016. Nous retrouvons aussi le #51 Jeff Côté qui aura aussi la chance de compter sur l'expérience de son père, le #1 Tony Côté pilote de la série Sportsman Qc et qui sera sans aucun doute acquérir rapidement de l'expérience en piste. 

Le #46 Carl Genois a décidé, après avoir participé à 2 programmes en Procam l'été dernier de faire l'acquisition de la voiture championne de l'an dernier; la voiture de Martin Bisson. Ce pilote a misé sur la classe Sport Compact Élite pour son accessibilité et l'organisation de la classe. Il  mettra tout en œuvre pour être compétitif. Le #12 Marc Perron de Québec, le #77 Marc Verner de Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel feront aussi partie du groupe de recrues pour la saison 2016. 

Tout est en place pour continuer l'évolution de cette classe qui ne cesse de s'accroître de saison en saison et qui offre sans aucun doute, un spectacle des plus intéressants pour les spectateurs.

Fifteen-Year-Old Victorious In Second K&N Pro Series East Start

 

MOBILE, Ala. (March 13, 2016) – The latest prospect making the transition from dirt to asphalt may prove to be the quickest study of them all.

 

Wallkill, New York, native Tyler Dippel stormed to Victory Lane in just his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East start Sunday at Mobile International Raceway.

 

Twenty-three days shy of his 16th birthday, Dippel took the lead on Lap 30 of the Mobile 150 presented by the Mobile Sports Authority and drove away from the 25-car field time and time again. Two cautions inside of 10 laps to go kept his No. 38 East West Marine/TyCar Chevrolet from running away from the competition, but he wasn't seriously tested on either restart.

 

Second place went to 21 Means 21 Coors Light polesitter Spencer Davis while Jesse Little, Austin Theriault and Kaz Grala brought home the top five in the race that was extended to 154 laps with the late caution.

 

Kyle Benjamin, one of the pre-race favorites to win, was black flagged while running fifth on Lap 95 when his window net came down. He was able to rally to a sixth place finish followed by Harrison Burton, Hunter Baize, Justin Haley and Ronnie Bassett Jr. in the top 10.

 

Dippel is following in the footsteps of Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu as notable dirt drivers who have recently transition to NASCAR asphalt racing via the K&N Pro Series East. Larson reached Victory Lane in his sixth series start while Abreu did it in his seventh.

 

Dominique Van Wieringen set two series records in the Mobile 150 before a Lap 146 spinout resulted in a 20th place finish. A second-place qualifying run broke her own mark for a female, and after she took the lead from Davis on the initial start, the Canadian led the first 29 laps. No female driver had led more than four laps in a race in the series' 30 years of competition.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to action with the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 on March 26 at South Carolina's Greenville Pickens Speedway.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 11, 2016) — First-year entitlement sponsor Pinty's Delicious Foods will bring a fresh look to the NASCAR Pinty's Series in 2016, but the new series logo won't be the only update that fans see this weekend at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series is once again participating in the annual motorsports trade show with an information booth, series drivers and a show car, and attendees of this year's Motorama Show will notice a couple of new features on the race car.

 

Go FAS Racing has its No. 32 Can-Am Ford on display with driver Alex Labbe in attendance. The car, maintained by Dave Jacombs Racing, will exhibit two of the most noticeable changes to the series' cars for 2016 with an updated Ford Fusion nose and hood and the inclusion of the driver's last name on the rear window and the Pinty's logo on the windshield.

 

Both enhancements are similar to those made in recent seasons to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series race cars. The optional Ford nose and hood updates follow previous modernizations to the NASCAR Pinty's Series' Dodge and Chevrolet models.

 

The mandatory addition of driver names to the rear windows will be applicable for all three manufacturers in 2016.

 

Can-Am was in the spotlight as the Motorama Show opened. Not only is Can-Am new to the NASCAR Pinty's Series as the primary sponsor for Go FAS Racing and Labbe as they expand to a full-time schedule, but it was announced Friday at Motorama that the Sept. 4 event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will be the Can-Am 200.

 

The Motorama Show is an annual motorsports trade show that marks the unofficial open to the racing season in Canada. This year's event will run March 11-13 at the International Centre near Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario.

 

On Sunday, March 13 NASCAR Pinty's Series select drivers will participate in a question and answer session on the stage from 12:30-1:15 p.m., and will sign autographs at the Pinty's Series booth from 2:15-3:15 p.m. NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison will also participate in the autograph session.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series display will also feature the No. 74 Bumper to Bumper/Total Dodge driven by 2016 Jostens Rookie of the Year contender Kevin Lacroix.
