DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 13, 2016) – The 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series returns for the first time since 2011 to Honda Indy Toronto for the Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series at the road course and selected drivers:

 

Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto Setup:
• This is the series' third visit to the track. 
• Andrew Ranger has been victorious in both previous NASCAR-sanctioned events at the course. Ranger won the pole and led every lap in his win in 2010.
• Josten's Rookie of the Year contender Cayden Lapcevich enters this event for the first time in second-place in the standings and has already recorded a pair of runner-up finishes this season. 

 

At Honda Indy Toronto:
History
• This will be the 30th event at Honda Indy Toronto. IndyCar will be competing on Sunday with the NPS racing on Saturday afternoon.
• D.J. Kennington and Jason Hathaway enter this event as the only drivers to compete in every NPS event held in the history of the series. Kennington has finished in the top five in both previous events.
• The event weekend was originally known as the Molson Toronto Indy, the event dates back to 1986 at the site formerly known as Exhibition Place.

 

Notebook
• Andrew Ranger has won two races this season and enters as the points leader for the NPS entering Toronto.
• Ranger has led 62 of the 73 laps ran in competition in the previous two events at the track.

Robin Buck (No. 56 OMVIC/ B&B Decals Dodge)
• Has scored two NPS wins with his first coming at the inaugural event at ICAR in 2011. He added a second win at Trois-Rivieres later that season.

• Has two wins, 27 top fives, 33 top 10s and an average finish of seventh in 41 career road course starts.
• In the two Toronto events he's one of three drivers to finish in the top-five in both events with a best showing of third in 2010.

 

Gary Klutt (No. 59 Pioneer Family Pools/PoolSuppliesCanada.ca Dodge)
• Has a win, a pole and 12 top 10s in 21 career NPS starts. Both the pole and win came in last year's season-opener at CTMP.
• Has a win and a pole (CTMP, May 2015), seven top 10s and an average finish of ninth in 11 career road races.
• This will be the NASCAR Next driver's first start at Toronto.

 

Alex Labbe (No. 36 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear Dodge)
• Has one win (Chaudiere – 2016) five poles, seven top fives and 11 top 10s in 19 career starts. 
• In 12 career road course starts he has seven top 10s, an average finish of ninth and a best result of second (ICAR- 2016).
• This will be his first start at Toronto.

 

Kevin Lacroix (No. 74 Bumper To Bumper/Total/Go Fast Dodge)
• Has two wins, four top-five and five top-10 finishes in 10 career starts. 
• Recorded two wins in seven starts during his debut season in 2015. Won road races at Circuit ICAR and Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.
• Is the first driver in series history to record two victories in rookie season.
• Became the first driver in the history of the series to win a caution-free race last season at ICAR in his first start at the track.
• This will be his first start on the Toronto road course.

 

Cayden Lapcevich (No. 76 Fastline Motorsports Dodge)
• Has made 10 career starts in the NASCAR Pinty's Series and recorded his career-best second-place finish twice this season Sunset Speedway on June 18th and Chaudiere on June 24th.
• Enters this weekend second in the points standings behind Andrew Ranger (168-162). He'll make his debut at Toronto on Saturday.

 

Kerry Micks (No. 02 Leland/Johnsonville Ford)
• Has made 88 NPS starts with three wins, four poles, 30 top-five and 54 top-10 finishes.
• Is one of three drivers to finish in the top five in both previous Toronto events. Finished fourth in 2011 and fifth in 2010 on the road course.

 

Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge)
• The 2007 and 2009 NPS champion and after his wins this season at CTMP and most recently at ICAR, holds the record for all-time wins with 22 and tied for first in poles (17). Has 51 top fives and 73 top 10s in 87 career starts.
• Has won both races at Toronto (2010, 2011) and has led 62 of the 73 laps of competition. 
• Currently holds the series' record for consecutive wins at a track with three (ICAR, 2012-14; Trois-Rivieres, 2008-10) and can equal that mark Saturday if he wins in Toronto.

 

Alex Tagliani (No. 18 EpiPen/Riobel/Complexe JCP/Juste du Chevrolet)
• Has three wins, six poles and 12 top fives, 21 top 10s in 37 career NPS starts.
• Has a win (Edmonton, 2008), four poles, six top fives and an average finish of 12th in 15 road course starts.
• Will make his first start at Toronto this Saturday.

 

Other Driver Notes
• Rookie Josh Collins is scheduled to make his first start at Toronto. He's the first driver in series history to compete in the series from Newfoundland. He finished seventh at Sunset for his best career finish in five starts.
• Peter Klutt is one of nine drivers to have started both races in 2010 and 2011. He finished ninth in both events.

 

Up To Speed:
• The 2016 season is the first for new series sponsor Pinty's and the 10th overall for the Canadian-based NASCAR division.
• The 2016 schedule features 12 races at 11 different tracks across five provinces and a return to the road course in Toronto as part of the IndyCar weekend in July.
• Quebec native Andrew Ranger took the lead on the penultimate lap of the season opening race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park to score the win.
• Alex Tagliani made Quebec drivers two-for-two this season after he won the Leland Industries 300 at Sunset Speedway for his third career series victory.
• Alex Labbe won from the pole last weekend in an exciting finish with rookie Cayden Lapcevich. It was Labbe's first career win.
• Andrew Ranger retook the points lead and also became the first multi-race winner of the season with his third win at ICAR two weeks ago.
• The NPS will travel west for its annual visits to Edmonton (Alberta) International Raceway and Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Saturday July 23 and Wednesday, July 27, respectively.

Entry List Grows To Nearly 50 For 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250

 

NAPLES, ME (July 14) – Entries from every corner of the United States, as well as Canada, continue to make their way into the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) offices for the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250.  Annually, the best attended race for both fans and participants, the HP Hood Oxford 250 will take place on August 26-28 at the legendary Oxford Plains Speedway, paying $25,000 to the winner.  With additional lap leader bonus money also on the line, this year's HP Hood Oxford 250 winner could potentially take home up to $50,000. 

            Several drivers have already punched their tickets to the prestigious race through the "Road To The Oxford 250" qualifying events, including this year's Easter Bunny 150 winner, Ben Rowe, and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Scott Farrington, and Florida's Dalton Sargeant, each who advanced through a recent "non-winner's" race at Oxford Plains a couple of weeks ago.

Among those who have already entered are Pacific Northwest legend Garrett Evans, who will be attempting the Oxford 250 for the first time in his illustrious career, 6-time PASS North Super Late Model champion, Johnny Clark, the 2014 series champion and current points leader, DJ Shaw, 2-time PASS National Champion, Jay Fogleman, and his son, Tate, himself the defending PASS South Super Late Model champion, former champion Cassius Clark, and 2015 PASS National Champion, Joey Doiron.  

3-Time HP Hood Oxford 250 winner, Mike Rowe, is joined on the entry list by fellow 250 winners, Travis Benjamin and Joey Polewarcyzk, and last year's surprise winner, Glen Luce.  The state of Maine will be well represented by Reid Lanpher, David Oliver, Richie Dearborn, Alan Wilson, Dave Farrington, Jr., Mike Hopkins, Adam Polvinen, Scott Mulkern, Tim and TJ Brackett, Dennis Spencer, Jr., Wyatt Alexander, Scott Robbins, Jacob Dore, Garrett Hall, Shawn Martin, Gary Smith, Tracy Gordon, Larry Gelinas, Dan McKeague, Corey Bubar, Jeff Taylor, and veteran Kelly Moore.

New Hampshire natives Bryan Kruczek and Jeremy Davis will be hoping to return to victory lane in the biggest race of the year, along with fellow Granite State driver Derrick Griffith.  Massachusetts' Derek Ramstrom is hoping his big race experience will pay off and will be joined by fellow New Englanders Travis Stearns, Kyle Desouza, Brent Dragon, and North Carolina transplants, Ben Lynch and John-Michael Shenette.  Michael Scorzelli will make the trip from New York as well as New Brunswick's Matt Matheson, who will be looking for a win as he tries to take the trophy north of the border.

C'est ce vendredi 15 juillet à l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction que ce tiendra la 4e édition du traditionnel Langis Caron Frameco Lte 150 où les pilotes présents participeront à un programme de 3 fois 50 tours avec départ en positions inversées des pilotes sur le tour du meneur. 

Actuellement, 26 pilotes sont inscrits pour ce programme dont 2 nouvelles recrues soit le #4 Daniel Demers à bord de la voiture de location de Samuel Charland et le #2 Francis Boisclair de Québec qui a acquis l'ancienne voiture du double champion Steve McKibbins. 

Cette soirée commanditée, principalement par Frameco Lte, offrira aux pilotes présents près de 13 500$ en bourses et bonis de courses. En plus de ce partenaire majeur, nous avons pu compter sur l'implication du Forum Guide Auto ainsi que de Métalico inc pour rendre cette soirée des plus intéressantes pour les équipes présentes. 

Le #33 Philippe Poulin, actuellement en tête du classement général, à remporter l'édition 2014 du Langis Caron. Depuis le début de la saison, il se présente en piste avec une voiture très compétitive et déterminée à aller chercher la victoire. Avec la foule de supporteurs qu'il a le privilège d'avoir à chaque présence à l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction, il donnera assurément tout pour leur en mettre encore une fois plein la vue. 

Mais il ne sera pas le seul à vouloir aller chercher cette victoire. Le #16 Rock Poulin qui a remporté la première édition a travaillé fort avec son équipe pour être présent ce vendredi lui dont la voiture a été sévèrement endommagée lors du programme du 1er juillet. Nous aurons aussi en piste le #67 Dominic Jacques vainqueur de l'an dernier qui avec la constance qu'on lui connait est un excellent candidat pour ce type de programme. 

On pourrait aussi être surpris par des pilotes comme le #41 Samuel Charland ou bien le #89 Marc Bertrand; deux pilotes qui n'hésitent pas à prendre leur place en piste. La discipline piste sera par contre de mise pour ce programme. 

On vous l'a annoncé déjà à deux reprises, mais cette fois-ci, c'est la bonne! Le #84 Martin Latulippe fait sa première sortie à bord de sa nouvelle construction. Le pilote de Vallée-Jonction est déjà dans plusieurs prédictions pour le podium. 

Un des pilotes favoris de la Beauce, le #18 Marc Bégin a travaillé fort sur la voiture depuis le dernier programme pour la rendre des plus compétitives. Assisterons-nous au premier podium de la saison du vétéran de St-Philibert? 

Les possibilités sont grandes; #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque, #40 Sylvain Labbé, #81 Dave Trevors, #17 Jimmy Nadeau, #21 Éric Cloutier ou bien le # 37 Dany Gariepy; tous ces pilotes sont des aspirants à la victoire.

Series Returns To Street Course For 30thHonda Indy

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 12, 2016) – At the start of the 2016 season for the NASCAR Pinty's Series, there was a new level or excitement for the NASCAR-sanctioned division.

 

From brand new series sponsor – Pinty's Delicious Foods, Inc. – coming on board this season with a new three-year deal to a return to Toronto, this year will be one of the most anticipated in the history of NASCAR's only Canadian touring series.

 

In addition to sponsoring the series, Pinty's also stepped up to sponsor the Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto this Saturday at Honda Indy Toronto. The stock cars will join the IndyCar Series for the third time.

 

This will be the first time the series has competed at the 1.755-mile road course since 2011 and one driver looking forward to returning is current points leader and two-time series champion Andrew Ranger. Ranger won both previous events at the 

course in 2010 and 2011, respectively, and he returns this weekend looking for his third win of the season.

 

While there nearly 10 drivers competing in their third NPS race on the road course near downtown Toronto, the only other drivers to finish in the top-five in both races are Kerry Micks and D.J. Kennington. 

 

Micks, who makes a majority of his series' starts on road courses, finished fourth in 2011 and fifth in 2010, respectively. Kennington finished third in the inaugural event in 2010 and fifth in 2011.

 

This Honda Indy Toronto weekend is often the highest attended sporting event in the province of Toronto every year.

Fast Facts:

The Race: This event is the fifth of 12 races on the NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule and the third of five road-course events. This is the series' third time participating in the event in Toronto.

 

The Procedure: The starting field is 32 cars, including provisionals. The first 27 cars will qualify through NASCAR road race style qualifying. There will be two qualifying groups based on practice times. The remaining five spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race will be 35 laps covering just over 100 kilometers (61.4 miles).

 

The Track: The 11-turn, 1.755-mile temporary road course is set up on the streets of Toronto's Exhibition Place, a unique site situated along the shores of Lake Ontario immediately west of downtown Toronto. Exhibition Place is home to more than 100 special events and trade and consumer shows annually.

 

The History: Originally known as the Molson Toronto Indy, the event dates back to 1986 at the site formerly known as Exhibition Place. The CASCAR Super Series, predecessor to the NASCAR Pinty's Series, was a regular support series at the event.

 

The Pole Winners: Andrew Ranger was the inaugural event's pole winner in 2010. Jason Bowles captured the pole in 2011. Bowles set the track record at 76.260 seconds (82.801 mph) on July 9, 2011.

 

The Race Winners: Andrew Ranger has won both previous events for the NPS and set a race record time of 69.065 mph on July 17, 2010.

 

Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto Notes:

Returning Drivers: Joining Ranger, Kennington and Micks in starting their third race at the facility include: Jason Hathaway, Peter Klutt, Derek White, Mark Dilley, L.P. Dumoulin, and Robin Buck.

 

Rookies Making First Start: A total of nine rookies are slated to start in Saturday's race tying the previous mark for most rookies with the 2011 event. Cayden Lapcevich leads this year's crop of talented rookies currently in second place in the standings – just six points behind Ranger (168-162).

 

Ranger Out Front At Toronto: In both of his wins, Ranger has done it in dominating fashion leading every lap in the inaugural event in 2010 (36) and the Roxton Pond, Que. native led 26 of 37 laps in 2011.

'Magic Mile' is a Key Thread Weaving Through Series History

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 12, 2016) – With 69 races having been held there since the track opened in 1990, no venue is more synonymous with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East than New Hampshire Motor Speedway. And when the 70th race is completed at the track on Saturday afternoon, the winner of the United Site Services 70 will put their name amongst elite company in the record books.

 

The hub of speedway racing in New England, the 1.058-mile oval seating nearly 100,000 people is the largest sporting venue in the region and it has celebrated some of stock car racing's biggest names in its Victory Lane. Maine native Ricky Craven, Martin Truex Jr., Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano, Jeff Burton, and multi-time series champions Jamie Aube, Brad Leighton, Mike Olsen and Andy Santerre have all won races at the track. NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson won the 2012 event -- one of five drivers since 2007 to win at NHMS and take home the title in the same year -- along with last year's winner and current NASCAR Camping World Series championship points leader William Byron.

 

In fact, so significant is the list of K&N Pro Series East winners at NHMS that nine of the 10 drivers named to the series' Top 10 Drivers of the First 25 Years of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series in 2011 all won races there.

 

While the series held its first races in 1987, NHMS opened just three years later and became a staple, hosting as many as four races a year through the end of the 1999 season. Events at The Magic Mile remain significant to this day with the annual series' stop at the track coming as a companion event to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race each summer.

FAST FACTS:
The Race: The United Site Services 70 will be the ninth of 14 races on the 2016 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule. It's the eighth of 10 oval track events and will the series' 70th visit to New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

 

The Procedure: The starting field is 36 cars, including provisionals. The first 32 cars will qualify through the group qualifying process while the remaining four spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race will be 70 laps, spanning 74.06 miles.

 

The Track: This is the 70th race for the K&N Pro Series East at the 1.058-mile slightly banked oval, dating back to September 1990. This is the third straight year the series has raced on the summer stop for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, after running on the September weekend in 2012 and 2013. It's the largest oval on the K&N Pro Series East schedule.

 

Race Winners: There have been 29 different winners in the 59 all-time stand-alone races at Loudon. New Hampshire native Brad Leighton has the most series wins at the "Magic Mile" with eight, while Eddie MacDonald is the active leader with three.

 

Pole Winners: Of the 32 different drivers to earn a pole award at New Hampshire, Kelly Moore has the most in K&N Pro Series East history with six. Ben Rhodes set a new qualifying record in 2014 with a time of 29.622 seconds (128.580 mph) for his first pole at Loudon.

 

United Site Services 70 Notes: 
Leader Of The Pack: Justin Haley of Winamac, Indiana, padded his lead atop the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East standings with a win in the series' most recent race at Ohio's Columbus Motor Speedway on July 2. Haley, who also won at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina this season, leads Noah Gragson by 40 points atop the standings with six races remaining.

 

LaJoie Returns: Corey LaJoie of Concord, North Carolina, who has made four NASCAR Xfinity Series starts this season, returns to his roots with a start in the United Services 70 on Saturday. LaJoie won five of 14 races in the K&N Pro Series in 2012, en route to a second-place finish in the season standings behind current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson. He posted his best career NHMS finish of second that season.

 

Gilliland Returns East: Third generation driver Todd Gilliland will be in the NHMS field. The 16-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina has five wins in 12 K&N Pro Series starts this season, including four West wins and one East win. Gilliland won the season opener at New Smyrna Speedway in February after winning the pole and leading 91 laps en route to the victory.

 

Austin Theriault Right At Home: The Hattori Racing Enterprises driver from Fort Kent, Maine, has as nearly as much experience at NHMS as any driver in the United Site Services 70 field. Theriault has made starts in both the XFINITY Series and K&N Pro Series at the track, as well as a number of Late Model starts. Theriault is coming of a career-best finish of second at Columbus and sits fifth in the overall standings.

 

Eddie Mac On The Attack: Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts, leads all active drivers with three career wins at NHMS, including a season sweep of the two races in 2008. He also has several Late Model and Super Late Model wins at the speedway, and he's entered in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series New Hampshire 301 on Sunday.

 

Feels Like The First Time: Through the first eight races of the season, there have been seven different NASCAR K&N Pro Series East winners — and all of them first-time winners. Noah Gragson of Las Vegas, Nevada, became the seventh driver first-time winner added to the list when he won the Stafford 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway in June. Gragson used a bold three-wide move on a green-white-checkered restart to claim his first career win in his 19th career start.

 

NASCAR Home Tracks: NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Part Of Tripleheader
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour joins the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East on a tripleheader schedule Saturday at NHMS, along with the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The Whelen Modified Tour will also be part of a special All-Star Shootout on Friday, a 35-lap non-points event.
