Barre, Vt. – Colchester's Scott Payea was atop the pack when the dust settled on Sunday, June 11, coming from behind to score his second straight American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory in the 19th Community Bank 150 at Barre's Thunder Road.

 

Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien appeared to have the race in hand, stretching out a lead as large as half a track after the leaders took on right-side tires during a lap-78 caution. But with 22 laps remaining, Therrien suddenly lost control entering turn 4 and went hard into the wall.

 

Payea, who had sustained significant body damage during a lap-29 melee, had fought his way back to second and inherited to lead with Therrien's misfortune. He then held off Steuben, Me.'s Rowland Robinson Jr. over the final run to take his third Community Bank 150 win and 10th career ACT triumph.

 

Therrien started on the pole and held serve over Barre's Nick Sweet and Waterford, Conn.'s Dillon Moltz during a rough-and-tumble first half of the event. Ten cautions flew during the first 78 laps, ranging from single-car incidents to multi-car pile-ups. The field came to pit road on lap-78 after Brooks Clark went head-on into the turn-four wall, which was converted into a planned competition caution.

 

Payea, who sat as low as 17th after getting caught up in a wreck when cars slowed for Cody Blake's stalled machine, had worked back up to the third spot by this time. He then stalked Moltz for an extended period before getting around him just a few laps prior to Therrien's crash.

 

Robinson Jr., with major body damage of his own from the same incident as Payea, matched his ACT career-best with a second-place finish. Moltz took third followed by Nick Sweet and Tyler Cahoon. Jason Corliss, Scott Dragon, Rich Dubeau, Oren Remick, and Jimmy Hebert also earned top-10 finishes.

 

In other action, Hineburg's Trevor Lyman scored his sixth career Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger victory in their 40-lap main event. Lyman, who returned to the Tigers this year after a long absence, powered around Williamstown's Sid Sweet Jr. early in the going, then held off former Champions Brendan Moodie and Dwayne Lanphear for the win.

 

Moodie took second, while Lanphear recovered from a mid-race spin for third. Cameron Ouellette, rookie Jamon Perry, Jason Woodard, rookie Jaden Perry, Mike Martin, Mike Billado, and rookie Tyler Austin completed the top-10.

 

In the Allen Lumber Street Stocks, Duxbury's Peyton Lanphear led a family sweep of the podium. Lanphear used a three-wide move to grab the lead on the opening circuit of the 25-lap feature and fended off cousin Brandon Lanphear on a late restart for her third career victory. Sister Reilly Lanphear came from 19th on the starting grid to overtake Will Hennequin in the final laps and complete the family affair. Rookie Stephen Martin, Cooper Bouchard, Alan Maynard, Greg Collette, Michael Gay, and Garry Bashaw rounded out the top-10.

 

Thunder Road kicks off its Thursday night racing season on June 15 with Casella Night. The Late Models will run double features, beginning the night with their rescheduled Harvest Equipment main event. The Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks join them on the card with a 7:00pm post time. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Charland remporte sa première victoire en Sportsman Qc


C'est ce samedi 10 juin à l'Autodrome Montmagny qu'avait lieu le 2e programme de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil et de la Série Mini Sportsman Méchoui International.

La séance de pratique a été fatale pour le #77 Mickael Isabelle. Alors qu'il avait perdu la maitrise de son véhicule, la voiture #54 de Jean D'Amours est entré en collision avec lui sur le drapeau jaune. Le pilote de Shannon qui avait mis plusieurs heures à se réparer du dernier programme n'a pu participer aux qualifications et à la finale.

Le #13 Michael Tremblay de Notre-Dame des Monts et le #67 Dominic Jacques de Vallée-Jonction ont effectué les temps les plus rapides lors des séances de pratiques.

Divisé en deux groupes lors des qualifications, c'est le #40 Sylvain Labbé commandité principalement par IGA Veilleux et le #89 Marc Bertrand à bord de sa voiture aux couleurs de Agritex Québec qui sont sortis vainqueurs.

C'est en première position après la pige que le #41 Samuel Charland commandité par Charest International a pris le départ. Position qu'il a gardé la quasi-totalité des tours malgré la pression mise par le #67 Dominic Jacques et le #37 Dany Gariepy­­. Les trois pilotes ont mené les 75 tours en combattant avec respect ce qui a donné un excellent spectacle aux nombreux amateurs présents pour ce programme.

La 3e position s'est aussi disputée chaudement. Le #47 David Gagnon commandité par Suspension Turcotte nous a offert tout qu'un retour. Partie en 13e position, il a remonté le peloton rapidement conservant, malgré beaucoup de pression, sa position. Ce n'est qu'à quelques tours de la fin que le #25 Pier-Luc Labbé de Saint-Joseph de Beauce a pris la 3e position lui permettant ainsi de monter pour un 2e programme consécutif sur le podium.

C'est ainsi que le #41 Samuel Charland de Victoriaville signe sa première victoire avec la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil. Le #67 Dominic Jacques commandité par Boulevard Toyota-Lexus/Létourno Service de Pneus et Mécanique obtient qu'en a lui une seconde 2e position en autant de programme; lui qui conserve sa 1ere position au classement général du championnat.

Le #47 David Gagnon d'Alma et le #37 Dany Gariepy commandité par Pavé Concept complète le top 5 de ce programme.

Le jeune #88 Xavier Pelchat de Saint-Félicien a réalisé son premier top 10 avec sa 9e position.

Nos recrues

Le #96 Alain Hamel repart pour une deuxième course avec la meilleure position pour une recrue. Soulignons l'excellente performance du #72 Louis-Philippe Lauzier de St-Pacôme qui a roulé parmi le top 10 des pilotes pendant une grande partie de la course. Malheureusement, à moins de 20 tours de la fin, suite à une perte de contrôle, il s'est fait percuté par le #48 Dave Caron qui n'a pu l'éviter.  Une performance qui promet pour le jeune pilote de 20 ans qui en était à son premier programme avec la Série.

 

Belle évolution des Mini Sportsman

Il est toujours surprenant de voir les jeunes pilotes de la Série Mini Sportsman prendre de l'aisance en piste aussi rapidement. Nous avons pu voir l'évolution en 2 programmes du #69 Vincent Rivard commandité par Aviron Québec/Collège Technique qui s'est vu remettre le prix de l'Étoile de la journée. Nos deux pilotes de la voiture #68 Anna-Marielle Delisle et Kelly-Ange Delisle ont aussi réalisé une belle performance. À bord de sa voiture Létourno-Festridrag.tv-Zone911.com, le #95 Nicolas Côté a remporté les deux finales lui donnant ainsi accès à sa deuxième victoire de la saison. Nous avons pu assister à de beaux côte à côte avec les voiture #77 Cédrik Grenier et le #37 William Gariepy. Au combiné, Gariepy commandité par Pavé Concept termine en deuxième position tandis que le #77 Cédrik Grenier commandité par Excavation Bob4 complète le podium.

 

Les pilotes des deux séries seront de retour en piste le 24 juin prochain à l'Autodrome Montmagny. Suivez les prochains communiqués pour en apprendre davantage sur leurs préparations.

SPEEDWAY 51 POWERED BY THE AUTOSAVER GROUP

 

            Clear skies and red hot racing prevailed this past Saturday night at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, New Hampshire as two winning streaks continued at the high banked, ¼ speedplant. Winners included Brendan Moodie, Dean Switser Jr., Bryan Wall, Chris Ouellette and Vanessa Brown-Savage.

 

            It was the Caron's Fabrication Street Stock Special which was run in three 15 lap segments and Dean Switser Jr. captured all three segments to pick up his second victory of the season. Bunker Hodgdon raced home second ahead of Brett Rowell, Jared Plumley and Jason Picard.

 

            Brendan Moodie made it one for the thumb as he scored his fifth consecutive victory to remain undefeated in the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman. Kevin Boutin, Mike Giroux and Bill Stebbins Jr. completed the field.

 

            Bryan Wall nipped Kyle Labounty in a near photo finish in the highly entertaining A.B. Excavating Daredevil youth division. Alexus Call, Hunter King and Garrett Labounty completed the top five. Wall also captured the heat race.

 

            Chris Ouellette defeated a very competitive field of White Mountains Community College Cyclones garnering his first win of the season. Matt Mason, Todd Derrington, Garrett Labounty and Jamie Carbone rounded out the top five.

 

            Vanessa Savage Brown kept her winning streak alive holding off Jamie Carbone to pick up her third straight victory, keeping her undefeated on the season in the Twisted Tea Angels. Alexus Call and Courtney Bradley placed third and fourth.

 

            This coming Saturday night, June 17th, the Valenti Modified Racing Series invades Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group. The VMRS group will race a 100 green flag laps. There will also be a Meet and Greet on the track at intermission for the fans. Joining the Valenti Modified Racing Series will be the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, Caron's Fabrication Street Stocks and the A.B. Excavating Daredevils. Post time is 6pm.

            Excitement is at an all time high this coming Saturday night, June 17th at the Northern New Hampshire speed plant, Speedway 51powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, as the ground pounding Modifieds of the Valenti Modified Racing Series will take to the track on Jericho Outdoors night. These sleek, high horse powered, ground pounders will blast around the ¼ mile asphalt facility at record speeds.

            Series promoter Jack Bateman is excited about their second venture to Northern, New Hampshire stating, "Our drivers love to run on the bullrings of the northeast, and we love the two grooves of racing here at Speedway 51. We will definitely put on a great show for the fans."

            Speedway 51 owner, Joey Laquerre is also looking forward to the Valenti Modified Racing Series coming to Speedway 51powered by the Autosaver Group. "This is our third year of operation and when we looked for entertainment to bring in, the Valenti Modified Racing Series is a perfect fit for our fans. I can't wait until June 17th. I know the fans are very excited about the meet and greet at intermission. It's going to be a great night!"

            Joining the Valenti Modified Racing Series on Jericho Outdoors night will be The Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, Caron Fabrication Street Stocks, and the AB Excavating Daredevils. Post time for this giant event is 6pm.

C'est devant des estrades bien garnies que Donald Theetge au volant de sa Chevy SS #80 commanditée par Mercedes-Benz St-Nicolas a gravi la première marche du podium lors de l'ouverture de la saison de la Série ACT à l'Autodrome Montmagny dans le cadre du COSMOS 100.

Parti 3ième derrière Gaudreault et Leclerc, il attaque rapidement. Mais Leclerc tient bon pendant une vingtaine de tours. Arrive ensuite Jonathan Bouvrette qui prend les commandes suivi de Theetge, Leclerc, Laperle avec en arrière de belles batailles entre Trépannier, Labbé et Marc-André Cliche.

Les cinq premiers se suivent de près et même côte à côte et tiennent les spectateurs sur le bout de leur siège. Au 62ième passage Theetge a le meilleur sur Bouvrette dans la courbe # 1 et va conserver la tête jusqu'à la fin de l'épreuve en résistant aux attaques de ses poursuivants.

À 20 tours de la fin, lors de la 3ième relance, les Trépannier, Laperle, Labbé et Bouvrette passent en mode attaque et la pression venait de partout, de côté et en arrière. Donald a su conservé son calme en suivant les consignes de son éclaireur pour monter sur la plus haute marche de podium devant Patrick Laperle et Dany Trépanier.<Un ange m'a guidé vers la victoire et je l'ai remporté en mémoire de Tom Curley>, de déclaré Theetge.

 Alex Labbé et Jonathan Bouvrette termine 4ème et 5ième.Theetge, Leclerc et Labbé avaient remporté leur qualification respective.

Ce 100 tours rapide, 42 minutes, avec vingt voitures en piste, s'est déroulé avec discipline, sans accident à part trois petites neutralisations au grand plaisir des amateurs et ça augure bien pour la saison 2017.Les cinq recrues présentes ont fait preuve de maturité et se sont bien tirés d'affaire.

En Procam Super Truck, la victoire revient à Steve Simoneau, sa 2ième de la saison. Il a été suivi sur le podium de Stéphan Lecours et de Martin Bisson, une recrue qui en était lui aussi à son 2ième podium consécutif.

En Sportsman QC, Samuel Charland a dominé l'épreuve de 75 tours devant Dominic Jacques et Pier-Luc Labbé.

En Sport Compact Élite ORICOM, dix-sept (17) voitures, le plus haut total de la saison au Québec, se sont présentées à la première des 3 courses pour le titre de MONSIEUR ORICOM 2017. Domination totale de Robin Harrisson de La Plaine qui a su résisté aux attaques des Gagné et Godbout qui l'ont suivi au podium. A souligner la belle prestation de Jeff Côté de Beauceville qui en était à sa première présence à Montmagny. 

En Classe Hobby, Daniel Lemieux a le meilleur sur Jimmy Desponts et Christopher Bernier.

En Mini Sportsman QC, Nicolas Côté devance William Gariepy et Cédric Grenier.

Tanner Claims Empire Super Sprint Victory at Airborne

PLATTSBURGH – Matt Tanner of Stephentown, NY picked up the victory in the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint main event presented by Northline Utilities at Airborne Park Speedway.

               Tanner led every single lap en route to his first win of 2017. In the closing laps, 16 year old Paulie Colagiovanni lurked behind Tanner, but ran out of time in the 25 lap feature. Jeff Cook, Steve Poiriér and Paul Kinney rounded out the top five.

               The Egglefield Ford 358-Modified division ran a 30 lap main event with a familiar face pulling into victory lane.

               Chris Raabe of Alexandria, ON picked up his third win in four attempts. A yellow flag on lap-24 erased Mike Perrotte's full back stretch lead. Perrotte chose the inside for the restart and that put Raabe outside. Perrotte aced the restart, but Raabe had a strong run in turns one and two to power past. Gage Morin finished in second. Perrotte, Jessey Mueller and Travis Bruno rounded out the top five.

               Joey Scarborough collected his first win of the season in the Fidelis Care Sportsman division.

               Scarborough used the outside on a lap-5 restart and never looked back. Connor Cleveland had the fastest car on the track, coming from position 22 on the starting grid and finishing second. Jamy Begor used a strong late race charge to get to third as he worked around Adam Gage and Zack Daniels, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

               Brent Jarvis collected his fourth win in as many tries in the Poirier's True Value Renegade division. Mark Caron and Michael Wright completed the top three.

               Kris Clark cashed in for the Busch Beer Mini-Mod victory in his first appearance of the season. Michael Whalen and Ed Bresette rounded out the top three.

               The first repeat winner in the Strictly Stock division was Michael Daniels. Shawn Walker and Nathan Smart completed the top three.

WILLIAMSTON, Caroline du Sud, 10 juin 2017 – Raphaël Lessard, jeune pilote de 15 ans de St-Joseph-de-Beauce, devait prendre le départ du Border War 250 en Caroline du Sud ce soir dans le cadre d'une course organisée par la Southern Super Series (SSS) et CARS Tour. Cependant, il ne pourra pas participer à l'épreuve suite à un ennui mécanique.

 

En effet, le pilote de la Camry #99 FRL Express/Toyota-TRD/JBL Audio préparée par David Gilliland Racing a effectué des essais en piste ce matin sur le Anderson Motor Speedway, mais un bris mécanique est venu mettre fin prématurément à sa fin de semaine.

 

« C'est dommage, car l'équipe avait travaillé très fort pour améliorer la voiture qui n'était pas optimale hier. Ce matin, la voiture allait de mieux en mieux, et en mettant des pneus neufs elle allait être parfaite, mais c'est à ce moment-là que le moteur s'est arrêté. Il n'y a rien que l'on puisse faire sur place malheureusement, on reviendra plus fort à la prochaine course, » déclare le pilote du programme de développement Toyota (TRD). 

 

La prochaine course de Raphaël sera disputée sur le circuit ovale Anderson Speedway à Anderson en Indiana dans le cadre du Red Bud 400 de la Série CRA, le 24 juin prochain.

Sport Compact (20 tours)

 

Le 89 de Samuel Hébert mène les 9 premiers tours. À la relance qui s'en suit, Pierre-Olivier Breault #20 se jette premier devant lui. Au tour 10, Marc Dagenais #66 fait l'extérieur d'Hébert pour la deuxième. Gabriel Marquis #22 fait l'intérieur de Dagenais au 13ème tour. Au 16ème tour, Marquis glisse. En profitent Claude Cournoyer #47 et Reno-Karl Quirion #40. Au 17ème tour, Marquis reprend une place devant Quirion pour être 4ème. À deux tours de la fin, Dagenais fait l'intérieur de Breault pour la pôle. Dans le dernier tour, Cournoyer passe Breault de l'intérieur et Marquis fait pareil de l'extérieur.

Marc Dagenais et Claude Cournoyer auraient échoué l'inspection d'après-course. M. Steve Salvas, directeur de course, annoncera officiellement les disqualifications (s'il y a lieu) sous peu.

 

Prostock (Dirtcar - 50 tours)

 

Stéphane Lebrun #6 dirige l'épreuve pendant 10 tours. À la reprise de ce même tour, Rob Yetman #7 parti 8ème devient le leadeur et ne quittera plus cette place. Le 47 de Dave Bissonnette est alors 3ème. À la relance du tour 13, Stéphane Lemire #115 se hisse devant Bissonnette. Ce dernier reprend à Lemire la 3ème place au 16ème tour par l'extérieur. Au tour 27, Bissonnette passe Lebrun pour la 2ème place. Lorsqu'on reprend le tour 36, François Adam #01 côtoie le 115 de Lemire pour la 4ème place. Au tour 38, arrive dans le top 5 Jocelyn Roy #48 parti 11ème en faisant l'intérieur de Lebrun qui a perdu des positions. Au tour 40, Bissonnette qui était 2ème quitte pour les puits. Yetman poursuit son règne, suivi de Lemire et Roy. Roy parvient à dépasser Lemire par le bas pour la 2ème position à la relance du tour 42.  Dans le dernier tour, Lemire toujours par l'intérieur sera plus rapide que Roy au fil d'arrivée. Un combat similaire se déroulait juste derrière eux entre Adam et Jay Corbin #8C. Corbin était 6ème depuis la reprise du tour 42. À la première relance du tour 47, Jay fait le bas du 97D de Dan Older pour se battre dès lors avec Adam juché en haut. Adam y sera plus vite pour sa 4ème place finale.

Pierre Hébert #71 mène jusqu'au tour 25 où le ONE de David Hébert le dépasse par l'intérieur. Hébert ne quittera plus la pôle. Le 79 de Maxime Plante dépasse Pierre du même coup pour la 2ème place. Au tour 28, Steve Bernard #54 fait l'extérieur du 71 à son tour pour la 3ème position. Au tour 32, Bernard fait l'intérieur de Plante pour la 2ème place. François Bernier #49 parti 15ème, arrive au top 5 en dépassant le le 96 de Jean-François Corriveau au 37ème tour. Deux tours plus tard, François dépasse Pierre Hébert pour la 4ème place. À la reprise du tour 44, Bernier #49 dépasse Plante pour sa place sur la troisième marche du podium. Son frère, Steve Bernier #25* profite de la même relance pour se hisser 6ème. Au tour suivant, Steve dépasse Corriveau pour sa 5ème position finale.

Jonathan Nadeau #9 part premier et le reste jusqu'au 23. Félix Murray #95 parti 6ème s'assure un podium au tour 5 en passant 3ème devant le 48 de Patrick Picotin. Au tour 9, Murray fait le bas de Claude Poirier #69 pour la 2ème place. Le 92 de Martin Pelletier dépasse Murray au tour 15 par l'extérieur. Au tour 23, Pelletier dépasse par l'intérieur Nadeau. Au tour suivant, un contact entre les deux fait passer Pelletier #92 et Nadeau #9 derniers. À la reprise, Martin Hébert #43 en haut et Félix Murray #95 en bas se disputent la tête avec à leurs trousses le 8 d'Alexandre Salvas et le 33 d'Alex Lajoie. Au tour 25, Salvas s'insère par l'intérieur entre Murray premier et Hébert 2ème. Or, Salvas percute le mur entre les courbes 3 et 4 au tour 28 et laisse sa 3ème place à Lajoie. Murray demeure donc premier devant Hébert. À la reprise 2 tours avant la fin, Alex Lajoie #33 se déporte au large. Le 3M de Michael Richard saisit ainsi une place sur le podium. Éric Lefebvre #88, parti 5ème s'en écarte, mais y revient à 3 tours de la fin. Au dernier tour, Lefebvre, par le bas, passe 4ème au détriment de Lajoie.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road Speedbowl welcomes the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) to the Barre high banks this Sunday, June 11 for the Community Bank 150. The event, which was originally scheduled for April 30 before being postponed due to inclement weather, marks the first of two ACT visits to the quarter-mile oval this season.

 

The 19th Community Bank 150 is the third event on this year's ACT Late Model Tour schedule as their title chase begins to ramp up. Waterford, Conn.'s Dillon Moltz and Colchester's Scott Payea have captured wins at New Hampshire's Lee USA Speedway and West Haven, Vt.'s Devil's Bowl Speedway, with Moltz's second-place effort at Devil's Bowl putting him atop the standings in his second full season on the Tour.

 

Moltz, Payea, and the rest of the ACT stars will be on hand to tackle the quarter-mile oval. Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien has already captured the Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road in addition to posting top finishes on the Tour. Lebanon, NH's Rich Dubeau has been strong in his third ACT season and scored his first podium finish at Devil's Bowl. Rookie Ray Christian III made his first Thunder Road visit on Memorial Day weekend and scored a top-10 finish. Rowland Robinson Jr., Kyle Welch, Mike Ziter, and Josh Masterson are among others expected.

 

 "I'm looking forward to getting back to Thunder Road this weekend for sure," Moltz said. "We had a really good long-run car when the race got rained out; we felt confident in the handling and the balance. So we were bummed about that, but we're really excited about the new pavement. We've been hearing pretty good things – that it's still racy, that it's got a lot more speed in it. I think those are factors that play right into our hands. And we seem to do well on new pavement – we won at White Mountain last year after they had repaved!"

 

The ACT Tour joins the weekly stars of the Thunder Road Late Models in their quest to become the latest Community Bank 150 winner. Defending "King of the Road" and former event winner Scott Dragon of Milton is off to a fast start, as is three-time Flying Tiger Champion Shawn Fleury of Middlesex. Barre drivers Jason Corliss and Cody Blake are always contenders. Trampas Demers, Eric Badore, and Tyler Cahoon will also represent the Thunder Road ranks.

 

The Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks are on the card as well. Opening Day winner and former Champion Brendan Moodie leads the way in the Tigers, with Morrisville's Dwayne Lanphear, Craftsbury Common's Joel Hodgdon, and Hardwick rookie Jaden Perry also looking strong. South Burlington's Michael Gay is the surprise Street Stock point leader after two races, with Memorial Day winner Reilly Lanphear, her cousin Brandon Lanphear, and veteran Alan Maynard right on his heels.

 

Qualifying for the 19th ACT Community Bank 150 goes green at 1:00pm this Sunday, June 11. The front gates will open at 10:00am. Admission is $25 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under.
