Briscoe Takes Sunoco Rookie of the Year; Toyota Captures Manufacturer Title

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Youth has been served once more in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Christopher Bell, 22, completed an outstanding sophomore campaign by capturing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship following Friday night's Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

To capture the crown, Bell, who finished second, outdueled fellow Championship 4 contenders Johnny Sauter (third-place finish), Austin Cindric (fifth) and Matt Crafton (sixth) at the South Florida track.

At 22 years, 11 months, 1 day, Bell is the fourth-youngest champion in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history.

Scoring a series-high five wins and winning the regular season championship, Bell dominated the 2017 season to earn a second-consecutive spot in the Championship 4. Bell punched his ticket to the playoffs early, winning the second race of the season at Atlanta. From there he continued his winning ways with regular season victories at Texas, Kentucky and Pocono. Bell's momentum continued in the playoffs, where he captured a win in the playoff opener at New Hampshire.

Bell finished this season with five wins, and series highs in both top fives (15) and top 10s (21).

A former dirt standout, Bell will run fulltime with Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2018.

Bell's No. 4 Toyota won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owner Championship, the fifth consecutive title for Kyle Busch Motorsports, and sixth overall. The No. 4 Toyota also won the owner title in 2015 with driver Erik Jones.

Chase Briscoe captured the 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year. Driving for Brad Keselowski Racing, Briscoe ended the season in stirring fashion, collecting his career-first win, at Homestead, to collect his 10th top five of the season.

Toyota won its record-extended 10th Manufacturers Championship, and fifth in a row. After a strong season that included 12 victories, a single Toyota needed only to start tonight's race to ensure the title.

PASS MegaMeltdown To Feature Live Pit Stops And National Championship Battle

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 16) – With practice now under way for the 12^th Annual Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 At Hickory Motor Speedway, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model racers from all across the continent are ascending on the legendary race track. While the focus for fans may be on who can take home over $15,000 for winning, teams are focusing on how to achieve that goal.

An intriguing factor for this weekend's race will be strategy and live pit stops. With 300 green flag laps before them on Saturday afternoon, teams will have the opportunity to change up to six tires at any point in the MegaMeltdown. Since caution laps will not count, grassroots teams will not be faced with employing "ringers," professional pit crews brought in for race day only. And, teams will also be basing their strategies on what type of power plant they have under the hood. Some teams with "built" motors will utilize the horsepower advantage they have to try and over power their competition. But, teams with less horsepower under the hood will have the opportunity to conserve tires and possibly cut back on the number of stops they make in favor of making up track position.

While everyone has the goal to take the big paycheck and the checkered flag in front of a nationwide audience on MAV TV, two drivers will also be focusing on winning Super Late Model racing's only national championship. Both Ben Rowe and Dave Farrington, Jr. come into Saturday afternoon's action with a shot at the PASS National title. For Rowe, a multi-time winner at Hickory Motor Speedway, a fifth national title would push his overall tally to 10 PASS championships.

"I think it's pretty neat to have a shot at the PASS National title because there is a lot of traveling and work from everybody on the team, that people just don't realize to get to those national races," says Rowe, driver of the Richard Moody & Sons Construction/Hancock Lumber #4 Toyota. "I think capping it all off at Hickory, one of my favorite racetracks, will be pretty cool."

For Farrington, who enters the MegaMeltdown trailing Rowe by just 29 points, it will be his first time ever competing for the national championship. This year, Farrington became the first driver since Rowe in 2009 to compete in every PASS Super Late Model event, north and south.

"It's such a unique opportunity and I can't thank everyone with our family-owned team and Woodman Racing for making this possible," says Farrington, who will pilot the Energy Dynamics/Plant's Seafood Chevrolet #7 this weekend. "We hope to continue a program going in to 2018 and we will be giving it everything we've got to win this national championship. We know we will need some help, but our team will not give up."

All the action gets under way on Thursday, November 16 at Hickory Motor Speedway with PASS hauler parking and optional practice from 1 – 4 PM. On Friday, November 17, practice will begin at 10 AM, followed by Must Racing Sprint Car qualifying. On Saturday, November 18, practice will begin at 9 AM, with PASS Super Late Model qualifying at 11 AM, followed Must See Racing Sprints for 50 laps and the Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300.

NOUVEAUTÉS POUR 2018…

Comme l'est souvent coutume lors du Banquet de fin de saison, nous y allons de quelques annonces concernant la saison 2018. Cette année n'en fut pas exception et voici donc les grandes lignes que ce qui a été mentionné aux pilotes et équipes présentes sur place en début novembre.

Comme certains d'entre vous avez pu le constater sur facebook, nous avons travaillé sur la piste de Granby et celle du RPM en y ajoutant de la terre pour tenter de garder nos pistes dans une condition optimum pour les années à venir.

Go-Kart

Pour les amateurs de Go-Kart, notre petit piste au centre à l'Autodrome sera en action à tous les vendredis cette année. La série G-Kart sera en action certains vendredis et d'autres divisions auront également la chance de courir en alternance, en y incluant les Téléguidés.

En ce qui concerne la série G-Kart, certains aspects et règlements seront revus et possiblement modifiés pour la saison 2018. Une nouvelle classe Spec verra également le jour.

Slingshot

Il y aura une SuperSérie qui sera mis sur pied et qui visitera les 4 pistes suivantes : Granby, RPM, Drummond et Vallée-Jonction. Il y a également une possibilité que l'on accueille une manche du World Championship organisé par Richie Tobias, plus de détails à venir à ce sujet.

Sport Compact

Nous sommes à travailler afin de clarifier et améliorer le livre des règlements et ce, fait conjointement avec les pilotes. Nous allons également les voir plus souvent à l'horaire de l'Autodrome en 2018.

Sportsman

Nous allons mettre sur pied une série spéciale de 5 courses qui aura pour enjeu de remporter l'utilisation d'un W16 pour la saison 2019. Un tirage sera fait parmi les pilotes qui auront terminé dans le top-5 du championnat de la série et l'heureux élu pourra utiliser un moteur W16 pour faire le saut en Modifié à l'Autodrome Granby.

Modifié

Tout comme en Sportsman, nous allons mettre sur pied une série spéciale de 5 courses qui aura pour enjeu de remporter l'utilisation d'un W16 pour la saison 2019. Un tirage sera fait parmi les pilotes qui auront terminé dans le top-5 du championnat de la série et l'heureux élu pourra utiliser un moteur W16 à sa guise à l'Autodrome Granby.

Il y aura également un championnat distinct pour ceux qui rouleront avec un moteur W16 pour la saison 2018. Plus de détails à venir à ce sujet.

Nous ajouterons un nouveau trophée perpétuel à partir de la saison 2018 et il s'agit d'un trophée qui sera remis au meilleur chef d'équipe en classe Modifié. Les critères de sélection du gagnant seront dévoilés prochainement.

Fond de Point

Un nouveau système de fond de point sera mis en place pour chacune des catégories. Il s'agit d'une méthode qui sera basé sur le nombre de courses et le nombre de participants. Les classes les plus nombreuses seront donc récompensé et la possibilité pour les pilotes de repartir avec des sommes d'argents plus importante sont plus élevés. Tous les détails seront dévoilés lors des meetings de pilotes respectifs.

RPM Speedway

En plus de l'ajout de terre tel que mentionné plus haut, nous allons ajouter 2 dates au calendrier 2018. Les détails concernant ces 2 dates et le calendrier complet seront dévoilés beaucoup plus tôt qu'à la coutume, alors que le calendrier officiel devrait sortir avant les fêtes.

MILVERTON, ON, Wednesday Nov. 15, 2017: It is with great pleasure that 22 Racing announce today the return of Donald Theetge to the team for 2018. Theetge will compete in the #24 Mercedes-Benz St Nicholas/Circuit Acura entry in all of the NASCAR Pintys Series oval events.

"Donald showed in 2017 he is a threat to win in every event," said Scott Steckly team owner of 22 Racing. "He came up just short of two wins last year and he has something to prove in the coming season. We look forward to fielding cars for him this year and him getting that first NASCAR Pintys Series win."

"I am very proud to be back in 2018 with Scott and his team," said Donald Theetge. "I think we proved we can win in this series with a good team like 22 Racing and I like working with them. In 2017 every race we entered we had a car good enough to finish in the top 5. We all know in the 2017 season we should have won two races and we finished second but in 2018 we expect to be in the winners circle. Scott will be announcing my partner to race the road courses soon and we expect to be racing for the championship. I think winter will be too long."

In ten NASCAR Pinty's Series starts with 22 Racing, Donald has posted 2 poles, 6 top 5's, 8 top 10's with 409 laps led.

The 2018 NASCAR Pinty's Series schedule has not been released yet but it is expected that Theetge will compete in events at Delaware Speedway, Autodrome Chaudiere, Auto Clearing Speedway, Edmonton Int'l Raceway, Riverside Speedway, Autodrome St. Eustache, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Jukasa Speedway.

RUTLAND, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway will celebrate the 2017 stock car racing season with a special one-night party on Saturday, January 27, 2018. The annual Banquet of Champions returns to the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, Vt., for the sixth consecutive year and will reunite competitors from both the Asphalt and Dirt Tracks at Devil's Bowl Speedway. As many as 400 drivers, car owners, team members, sponsors, officials, and fans are expected to attend.

With a full track surface transformation to dirt racing underway for the 2018 season, the Banquet of Champions will serve as the official end of the two-track era at Devil's Bowl and puts a celebratory finish on both the 1/2-mile Asphalt Track and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track. Champions and top drivers from 11 racing divisions will be recognized for their accomplishments during the ceremony.

On the asphalt side, Vince Quenneville Jr. will collect his second NASCAR Whelen All-American Series O'Reilly Auto Parts Sportsman Modified title. Three first-time champions will be crowned with Dylan Rabtoy in the Rosen & Berger Super Stocks, Shawn Moquin in the Portland Glass Mini Stocks, and Seth Bridge in the Driven Transport Late Models. Five young drivers from the Bandit Youth Mini Stock division will also be recognized.

Dirt champions include eight-time Devil's Bowl king Kenny Tremont Jr. in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modifieds, as well as first-time champs Chris Murray in the Super Stocks, Chris Charbonneau in the Mini Stocks, Austin Chaves in the 500cc Mini Sprints, and Lacey Hanson in the 360 Sprint Cars. Cory Gray will also be honored for his second-straight Enduro Series title.

In addition to the champions, trophies will be given to top-ranking point standing drivers, Rookie of the Year winners, and peer-voted Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver awards. 8^e PLACE POUR RAPHAËL LESSARD AU NEW-SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

NEW-SMYRNA, Floride, 12 novembre 2017 – Raphaël Lessard a terminé en 8^e position -- sur 30 pilotes, dimanche lors de la 52^e édition du Governor's Cup au New Smyrna Speedway, en Floride. Le pilote originaire de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce s'élançait de la 7^e position pour cette course de 200 tours, avant-dernière course de sa campagne 2017. Ty Majeski a remporté l'épreuve pour une 3^eannée consécutive.

Raphaël a connu un mauvais départ à bord de sa Toyota Camry #99 FRL Express/Toyota-TRD/JBL Audio préparée par David Gilliland Racing, restant coincé sur la ligne intérieure du tracé dans les premiers tours.

Malgré des pratiques et une qualification qui laissaient présager une voiture bien ajustée et performante, les premiers 119 tours se sont montrés difficiles pour le jeune pilote. « Disons que notre départ nous a mal positionnés pour la suite de la course. L'auto n'était pas à mon goût et j'avais de la difficulté à trouver une bonne ligne de course. Je me suis essayé en haut de l'ovale, au milieu puis en bas, mais rien ne fonctionnait, » explique le pilote de développement de Toyota (TRD).

L'épreuve fut neutralisée 5 fois, dont une fois au 119^etour pour donner la chance aux pilotes de se rendre aux puits. Lors de son arrêt, l'équipe de David Gilliland Racing en a profité pour changer les quatre pneus de Raphaël, en plus de rajouter de l'essence et de faire des ajustements. Après cet arrêt, une seule autre neutralisation est venue ponctuer le reste de l'épreuve.

Par contre, les ajustements faits durant la neutralisation n'ont pas livré le fruit anticipé par Raphaël qui éprouvait encore de la difficulté avec son bolide. « J'ai perdu des positions après la relance, mais un accrochage entre mes compétiteurs m'a permis de remonter un peu dans le peloton. J'ai fait tout ce que je pouvais pour remonter le plus possible. J'aimerais remercier David Gilliland qui était présent lors de la course, ainsi que Toyota, FRL Express, JBL Audio, mes parents et ma famille pour leur support cette saison.

La prochaine et dernière course de la saison de Raphaël sera le 3 décembre prochain au 5 Flags Speedway à Pensacola, Floride, pour la prestigieuse course du Snowball Derby. L'année dernière Raphaël avait terminé 10^e lors de cette course très intense. « Cette année on va essayer de remonter le résultat de 10 positions! L'équipe va travailler fort pour améliorer la voiture et on va terminer la saison en force. »

Waterbury, VT -- American Canadian Tour (ACT) Managing Director Darla Hartt announced today a change in ownership of the 31-year old late model stock car racing series to Cris Michaud and Pat Malone, who completed purchase of the Thunder Road speedplant earlier this year.

Under the guidance of its founder, Tom Curley, ACT's strict rules requirements, including the use of crate engines and other cost-restricting guidelines, positioned the American Canadian Tour as a long-standing leader in innovation in the short track industry. ACT events have been enjoyed by race fans throughout New England, New York, eastern Canada and Florida. Curley's passion for the sport was evident in the fiery pit meetings he staged prior to each event, and his hands-on approach and inclusive philosophy proved a successful formula. Curley died in May of complications of COPD.

"My decision to sell ACT is bittersweet, having worked with Tom from the initial NASCAR North Tour in 1979, and then launching our own series in 1986", said Darla Hartt, Curley's successor. "Over 38 years we logged many thousands of miles and enjoyed so many adventures with incredible people. Everyone in our ACT family felt a huge loss in his passing, but the teams, fans, promoters, and officials who are ACT remain dedicated to the task of moving forward. Losing Tom last Spring- who was both my business and life partner- and immediately proceeding to operate the Tour was a challenge," Hartt continued.

"Tom Curley was very much a proponent of necessary change, and when I was approached by Cris and Pat, I felt the passing of the torch at this point was a good decision for everyone involved. ACT is a special entity, and I am pleased that the new ownership includes an individual who came up through our system. Cris Michaud raced with us at Thunder Road and on the Tour, and then ultimately worked with us as an official for a couple of years, gaining valuable knowledge from his mentorship with Tom and embracing those ideals on which ACT was founded. I trust that the ACT Tour is in good hands, and will continue to thrive going into the future", Hartt concluded.

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway is getting back to basics, and that includes a return to Sunday night racing in 2018. As the historic Vermont stock car racing facility undergoes the process of having its half-mile track converted from asphalt surface to natural clay, speedway management is working diligently on the format for the 52^nd season next summer.

The decision to race on Sundays was reached after gathering information from more than 120 race teams and analyzing more than 1,500 responses from an online public survey of fans. Several adjustments will be made to the racing program in order to speed up the pace of the show and allow fans and competitors to arrive home at a reasonable time on Sunday night.

Among the time-saving plans are rotating schedules each week throughout the season for several divisions in which heat races are eliminated in exchange for extra-distance feature events, along with a rotation of occasional off-weeks for select classes. In addition, a new format for victory lane ceremonies is expected to cut up to 20 minutes out of each show.

"Devil's Bowl has traditionally been a Sunday-night track, but lifestyles and priorities have changed so much that we really wanted to dig deep and see if Sunday was still manageable," Devil's Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno said. "There was support for Saturday, but ultimately Sunday will be the best fit for the majority. However, we feel a responsibility to get everyone home at a decent hour in time for the Monday work day, and we will make a big effort to get our shows done in three hours or less."

Bruno also said that there is a strong possibility for a handful of special events on Saturday nights or on mid-week dates. The full season schedule is expected to be announced before January 1. Rulebooks for all divisions are being finalized and are expected by December 1.

Racing in weekly divisions will continue with sanctioning from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, marking the eighth consecutive year under the NASCAR banner at Devil's Bowl Speedway. Drivers will be eligible for track, state, and national championships, awards, and point fund money. Kenny Tremont Jr. won the NASCAR Vermont State Championship and the Sportsman Modified track championship on the smaller 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl in 2017 and is expected to collect more than $6,000 for his efforts.

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 1) – A Fall tradition for short track racing fans up and down the Atlantic Seaboard returns this weekend when racecars hit the track at Concord Speedway for the 15^th Annual North-South Shootout. The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) became a part of the Shootout in 2013 when Ben Rowe took the checkered flag at Caraway Speedway and the South's original Super Late Model tour has been a part ever since. Ryan Moore, Dave Garbo, Jr., and Dalton Sargeant have each tasted victory in the North-South Shootout and, ironically, their wins in the prestigious race have each been their first in PASS South.

The 125-lap race for the PASS South Super Late Models will be the co-headliner again for this year's North-South Shootout and will be joined by another 125-lapper for the Tour-type Modifieds that will pay $10,000 to the winner. Racers will be looking to close the gap on current PASS South points leader, Matt Craig, as he seeks to become the first two-time champion in series history.

Fellow Kannapolis, NC driver, Kodie Conner, hopes to gain ground on Craig in the standings as he seeks to make it a quartet of first-time winners in the North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway. After the passing of his biggest fan and grandfather, Jerry, during the summer, Conner has now become the owner of his race team at just 16 years of age. And, he is extra excited to return to Concord Speedway, where he began his racing career across the road at the speedway's quarter-mile track as a youngster.

"I am now the owner of our race team and that's pretty exciting," says Conner, driver of the CRC Automotive/Champion Spark Plus Toyota #45. "I feel the 2017 season has shared good and bad moments. With two races left, Concord being my home track and then Hickory for the MegaMeltdown, I feel Team KCR can capture a win."

Coming to Concord with a new car and feeling like the "bugs" have been worked out after strong runs at South Boston and Orange County, have Conner encouraged that his first win is right around the corner. And it would be even more special for Conner at Concord, a track he has won at in a Pro Late Model and close to the quarter-mile track where he was a Bandolero champion.

"I'm excited to be racing the new car at Concord this weekend," says Conner. "We've put a lot of work into Tiger 8 [the new car] and we are learning more every time it hits the track. This weekend will be a blast and we hope to have a lot of good racing."

A very diverse group of drivers have entered so far including Orange County winner, Tate Fogleman, and former series winner, Jared Irvan. PASS South regulars like Dave Farrington, Jr. and Roy Hayes have filed entries along with Southern National track champion, Colt James, as well as Christian Eckes and Chad McCumbee. Northwest legend and former Big 10 regular Garrett Evans will make his return to Concord Speedway and will be joined by Georgia brothers, Kyle and Jordan McCallum.

All the action gets under way on Thursday, November 2 at Concord Speedway with optional practice for all competing divisions from 12 – 6 PM. On Friday, November 3 practice begins at 10 AM and PASS Super Late Models will qualify at 6 PM. On Saturday, November 4, practice will begin at 10 AM, with main events scheduled to start at approximately 1 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, Tour-type Modifieds, Limited Late Models, SK Modifieds, Chargers, and Vintage Cars.

AT SPEEDWAY 51 POWERED BY THE AUTOSAVER GROUP

The curtain will close on the 2017 racing season at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group on Saturday, November 18^th with the season finale, The Annual Banquet of Champions. The event will be held at the Town & Country Inn and Resort in Gorham, New Hampshire.

Each of the 2017 track champions including Corey Mason, North Country Ford Late Models, Brendan Moodie, Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, Bunker Hodgdon, Caron's Fabrication Street Stocks, Chris Ouellette, White Mountains Community College Cyclones, Vanessa Brown-Savage, Twisted Tea Angels, the A.B. Excavating Daredevils, and the North Country Family Restaurant Go-Kart Series. Not only will the champions be recognized, the top 10 in each class will receive awards, plus there will be many specialty awards including Rookie of the Year trophies, Driver of the Year award, and the most coveted of all awards, the induction to the Hall of Fame.

Tickets are now available and must be purchased no later than Tuesday, November 14^th. No tickets will be available after November 14^th. Après que "dame nature" ai forcé la direction de l'Autodrome St-Eustache à reporter la présentation de sa "Classique d'automne" en deux occasions, voila que cette dernière se sera présenté sous ses plus beaux atours dimanche dernier pour qu'enfin ce tienne la dernière fête motorisée de la saison 2017, l'Enduro 250. C'est donc sous un ciel radieux, un mercure digne du mois de juin et des gradins bien remplis, que pas moins de 115 compétiteurs se seront affrontés pour ce dernier rendez-vous de la saison sur le petit ovale des Basse Laurentides.

Après avoir remporté les grands honneurs du "Challenge 200", il y a trois semaines de cela au volant d'une voiture emprunté, voici que Michel Legault récidive pour l'Enduro 250, encore une fois, avec une monture prêtée, cette fois-ci, par son bon ami Gabriel "La Grosse Poule" Faucher, grand patron de la très chic équipe de course, "Red Neck Motorsport"... S.V.P., ne pas me tirer des roches, je ne suis que le messager, je ne choisit aucunement les surnoms des pilotes, pas plus que le nom de leurs équipes.

C'est au volant de la Sunfire #80 de l'équipe "Red Neck Motorsport" que Michel Legault remporte sa deuxième épreuve consécutive de type "Enduro" cet automne

C'est donc au volant des voitures #93, lors du "Challenge 200" puis #80, dimanche dernier, que Legault aura réussi le doublé des épreuves d'endurance de l'automne 2017. Sans être un record (le jeune Jason Morand ayant réussi l'exploit lui aussi il y a de cela quelques saisons), il n'en reste pas moins que le pilote de Mirabel sera parvenu en ces deux occasions, à garder le nez de ses voitures suffisamment propre pour se mériter ces deux victoires.

Au terme des 2h51 qui furent nécessaire pour compléter les 250 passages, et après recomptage des tours, Normand Brunet, #09 de Terrebonne, sera crédité de la deuxième position, alors que le pilote de la série CTCC, le #66, Jean-François Hevey de Châteauguay, monte sur la dernière marche du podium. Suite aux inspections d'après course, ce furent les, Kevin Hamel #57 de St-Joseph du Lac, ainsi que Mario Brunet #90 de Blainville, qui auront au final complété le "Top-5".

Voici maintenant venu le temps de fermer les livres de cette passionnante 53em saison d'activité "Stock Car" de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Si pour les pilotes et les amateurs, les saisons de courses sont toujours trop courtes, et les hivers trop longs ces deniers ont au moins l'avantage de laisser à tous, le temps de bien préparer la saison à venir, qui, nous en somme convaincu, sera tout aussi excitante.

Merci finalement aux milliers de spectateurs qui tout au long de la saison remplissent les estrades. Le slogan dit, "St-Eustache, c'est ma place", mais dans les faits... C'est votre place, vous les passionnés de courses automobiles.
