People’s United Bank Returns to Present Memorial Day at Devil’s Bowl

People’s United Bank opens Friday summer racing schedule at Vermont speedway

WEST HAVEN, VT – People’s United Bank will usher in the summer stock car racing season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT for the second year in a row. The 171 year-old, New England-based financial institution will present the People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special to begin the 2013 Friday night NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule on Friday, May 24 at 7:00pm. The headline Bond Auto Parts Modified division will run twin 25-lap features as part of a full card of racing that also includes a holiday fireworks show.

Veteran New York state drivers Leon Gonyo and Ron Proctor each scored in last year’s People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special twin Modified features. Proctor’s victory was the first of a three-win campaign that led to his second-straight Devil’s Bowl Speedway and NASCAR Vermont State Championships. Proctor will return in search of a three-peat, but is expected to be challenged by the likes of Brandon, VT’s Vince Quenneville, Jr., Hunter Bates of Middlebury, VT, Alex Bell of Cambridge, NY, and 2012 Rookie of the Year Joey Roberts of Georgia, VT.

The People’s United Bank date is the first championship point event for the Late Model division, which has a wide-open title chase ahead of it; with his family expanding, 2012 champion Craig Bushey will not return to full-time competition. Rutland, VT-area drivers Kevin Elliott, Jesse Carris, and Rookie of the Year Robert Bryant, Jr., are expected to contend for the championship against Charlestown, NH’s Bryan Town and Dan Petronis of Mechanicville, NY. Several new full-time competitors are also expected including Pete Yetman of Peru, MA and multi-time champion Chris Bergeron of Claremont, NH.

The intermediate Renegade division has seen growth during the off-season, as has the entry-level Mini Stock class; both divisions will be in action at the People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special on Friday, May 24, along with a massive Memorial Day weekend fireworks display.

André Poulin – Président

Fondateur et Président de la série depuis maintenant 7 ans, M. Poulin a travaillé dans plusieurs organismes sportifs dans le passé avant de faire le saut en Stock car.

En 2013, il est le responsable de l’administration et de la promotion de la série en plus d’être en charge du positionnement des voitures en piste.

Sylvain Doyon – Directeur de course

C’est pour une première année que M. Doyon joint les rangs de l’équipe. Pilote pendant près de 30 ans, il a par la suite continué son parcours comme propriétaire et chef mécanicien pendant 4 ans. Son expérience comme officiel à l’Autodrome St-Eustache et directeur de course pour la série Super truck sera servir à la série.

Dany Ouellet – Directeur Technique et Officiel de piste

Depuis 2011 M. Ouellet est impliqué dans la série comme directeur technique et officiel de piste. Il compte plus de 14 ans d’expériences comme pilote, d’abord en classe locale et par la suite en Super Sportsman remportant entre autre le titre de recrue et 2 championnats. Il a aussi piloté pendant 5 ans dans la classe LMS montant à quelques reprises sur le podium.

Éric Laliberté – Officiel des puits

C’est à titre d’officiel des puits que M. Laliberté joindra l’équipe de la série pour la prochaine saison. Ayant été mécanicien en Super Sportsman dans l’équipe de Jeannot Lemay et ensuite en Pro-Cam Super Truck avec Steve Lavigne, il a aussi travaillé au circuit Riverside Speedway pendant 4 ans.

Karine Poirier – Responsable du Système de statistiques My Laps

C’est pour la 2^e année que Mme Poirier fera partie de l’équipe des officiels de la série. Ayant auprès d’elle un fanatique de course automobile, elle s’est laissé entrainer dans cette passion. Tout d’abord en se familiarisant avec le déroulement des courses et le travail d’officiel et par la suite, en s’impliquant directement dans la série. En plus de sa tâche de responsable du système My Laps, elle supporte M. Poulin dans l’administration et le secrétariat relié à la Série.

Kim Ouellette – Préposé au système de statistiques My Laps

Toute jeune, Mme Ouellet fréquentait le monde du Stock Car par le biais de son père qui a fait partie de plusieurs équipes. Elle s’est plus tard impliqué dans une équipe pendant 2 ans en étant en charge de prendre les statistiques pendant les courses. L’an dernier, elle a apporté son aide à M. Poulin et son équipe dans certains évènements de la Série. Cette année, elle viendra en support à Karine Poirier en ce qui concerne le système de statistiques My Laps.

David Pichette – Signaleur

Pendant 2 ans, M. Pichette a été officiel des puits pour la série. Un nouveau défi l’attend cette année soit celui d’être « Flagman ». Un rêve qui devient réalité. C’est grâce à son père, commanditaire d’une équipe pendant plusieurs année que sa passion pour les courses est née. Rapidement, il s’est impliqué dans plusieurs équipes, entre autre avec l’équipe Blanchet Racing et l’équipe d’Éric Giguère.

Frédérick Gagnon – Officiel remplaçant

Pour une troisième année consécutive, M. Gagnon se joint à l’équipe d’officiel mais non plus à titre de signaleur mais d’officiel remplaçant. Ayant grandi sur les pistes de courses, il est devenu pilote en 1998 dans les classes locales, en particulier dans la classe Sport Compact. Il a aussi été équipier de quelques équipes en LMS entre autre avec Renaud Blais, Normand Cliche, Patrick Cliche et Dany Gagnon

À ces derniers s’ajoutent M. Marco Bédard, photographe et Marie-Claude Levasseur, relationniste qui vous ont été présentés dans les dernières semaines.

Fan Vote Determines Format For The Sprint Unlimited

With 55 Percent Of The Vote, Race Segments Set At 30, 25 And 20 Laps

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 14, 2013) – A few short hours after voting closed, the annual NASCAR Media Day opened. The first announcement of the day: Fans have decided the race format for The Sprint Unlimited, Saturday night’s season-opening event.

In voting that closed last night at 11:59 p.m. ET, fans voted on the first component – the length of the race’s three segments – to be set at 30 laps, 25 laps and 20 laps.

For the first time in the sport’s 65-year history, NASCAR and Sprint announced last month that fans would vote to decide several key competition elements in The Sprint Unlimited at Daytona (8 p.m. ET, FOX, FOX Deportes, Motor Racing Network Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio).

The winning combination for the segment lengths received 55 percent of the votes, while the option for 40 laps, 20 laps and 15 laps finished second with 23 percent. In last place, the format consisting of 35 laps, 30 laps and 10 laps finished with 22 percent of the votes.

“By giving the fans the power to decide the length of the three segments in the Sprint Unlimited, we feel there will be an unprecedented buzz surrounding the event,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition. “The 30-25-20-lap format the fans voted for will create three distinctly different segments that will keep fans enthralled throughout the race.”

Fans still have an opportunity to vote on two other competition elements during Saturday night’s race.

Fans have until the green flag drops at the start of the race to vote for the type of pit stop each team must make after the 30-lap first segment. The three choices are a required four-tire pit stop, a required two-tire pit stop or no stop at all at the completion of the first segment. Fans also have until the start of the second segment to vote for the number of cars that will be eliminated after the 25-lap second segment. The four choices are none, two, four or six.

Votes for the remaining two categories can be cast on NASCAR’s new official mobile app – NASCAR Mobile ’13 – or at NASCAR.com/SprintUnlimited. All votes made through the NASCAR Mobile ’13 app will count twice.

2 nouveaux pilotes se joignent au championnat complet de REVSTAR en 2012

Deux amis et passionnés de Sport automobile, Alain Mathieu et Patrick Laguë ont fait l'acquisition des deux voitures REVSTAR de Gabriel Richer ainsi de tout le matériel de cette série. Après trois saisons, le champion de Glace Gabriel Richer a décidé de gradué en Dirt Modifié. C'est avec enthousiasme que les résidents de Farnham, Alain et Patrick relève nouveau Défi !

Alain Mathieu un pilote expérimenté

Le vétéran pilote, Alain Mathieu évolue depuis une quarantaine d'année dans le monde du sport motorisé. Dès l'âge de 15 ans, il amorçait une carrière en semi-pro ensuite en Late Model avant de graduer dans la série Sportsman Dirt où on a pu le voir en action régulièrement à l'Autodrome Granby, une piste pas très loin de chez lui.

Alain Mathieu a connu beaucoup de succès, on a qu'à se rappeler ses nombreux titres, notamment champion en semi-pro, 2 fois champion en Sportsman Dirt en 1998 et 2000 et plusieurs fois vice-champion. Il a offert des performances constantes couronnées par deux ou trois victoires par année et régulièrement parmi les 10 premiers au terme de la saison.

Alain a dû se résigner à abandonner la série Sportsman en raison du manque de temps et d'aide pour la préparation de sa voiture. Mais la passion était toujours là !, C'est alors qu'il s'est intéressé au STR de REVSTAR, une série « open wheel » qui nécessite beaucoup moins de temps pour préparer leur bolide et tout ça avec un budget beaucoup plus abordable, il pourra être ainsi plus souvent en piste que dans son garage à travailler sur la voiture. Alain possède beaucoup d'expérience qu'il pourra mettre à profit dans la série REVSTAR, il sera certainement un prétendant à la victoire.

Patrick Laguë de mécano à pilote

Patrick agissait comme mécanicien pour l'équipe d'Alain Mathieu, son ami. L'année dernière, il a pris le volant pour une course de Sportsman et ses performances ont été surprenantes. C'était suffisant pour qu'il prenne la piqûre ! Maintenant c'est le pilotage qui l'attire. Patrick a vraiment hâte de faire ses débuts en STR. L’Asphalte, le dirt, la glace seront des nouveaux défis pour lui qui lui feront découvrir les rudiments de la course.

Avec la vente de ses bolides, Gabriel se voit contraint de renoncer au Grand Prix de Valcourt.

The Sprint Unlimited, Daytona 500 Qualifying Signal Opening of 2013 Season

Speedweeks Features Racing Events For Competitors At All Levels

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2013) – A jam-packed Speedweeks featuring racing for everything NASCAR kicks off the 2013 season this weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

Ten days of high-speed activity begin Friday with practice for Saturday night’s Sprint Unlimited, a non-points race for 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Coors Light Pole winners in which the new Gen-6 car will debut. All competition leads up to the year’s signature event, the 55^th Annual Daytona 500 at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, Feb. 24.

The “Great American Race,” won in 2012 for a second time by Matt Kenseth, will be broadcast live by FOX with additional coverage by MRN Radio and SIRIUSXM NASCAR Radio.

This year’s Speedweeks marks the first time competitors from every NASCAR division – domestic and international – will have a place to race at the World Center of Racing. The inaugural UNOH Battle at the Beach – three races on a 0.4-mile oval for NASCAR’s grassroots and touring drivers – joins the festivities in 2013.

The Sprint Unlimited begins at 8:00 p.m. ET Saturday and will be broadcast live by FOX. FOX also will cover Daytona 500 qualifying at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, during which the Daytona 500’s front row starters will be determined. The UNOH Battle at the Beach takes place Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 18-19, with feature races beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET live on SPEED.

The Duel at Daytona – twin 60-lap, 150-mile qualifying races to set the Daytona 500 starting grid – takes place Thursday, Feb. 21. (2 p.m. ET live, SPEED). Championship points racing begins Friday, Feb. 22 with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 (7:30 p.m. ET on SPEED). The NASCAR Nationwide Series takes the spotlight Saturday, Feb. 23 in the DRIVE4COPD 300 (1:15 p.m. ET live, ESPN).

Thursday’s NASCAR Media Day officially opens Speedweeks as more than 50 drivers from NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide, NASCAR Camping World Truck and other series will lay out their 2013 plans for more than 300 print, broadcast and Internet media members. This year’s event is being held at the Daytona 500 Club in the speedway’s infield.

ESPN, SPEED, SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio and NASCAR.com will broadcast live throughout the day. Thursday’s two sessions are 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. ET.

Gen-6 Car Debuts in Sprint Unlimited … This year’s traditional opening event is more than just a preview of the Daytona 500. The Sprint Unlimited marks the racing debut of the much-anticipated Gen-6 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car – Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry.

The renamed The Sprint Unlimited returns to its original, 1979 concept – a non-points race for drivers who won a Coors Light Pole last season along with previous event winners who participated in at least one NASCAR Sprint Cup race in 2012.

The 187.5-mile/75-lap race will be run in three segments. How those segments break down will be determined by fans’ voting on three choices: 40 laps, 20 laps and 15 laps; 35 laps, 30 laps and 10 laps; and 30 laps, 25 laps and 20 laps. Balloting is open through 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

There are two additional fan votes. The first vote continues through the drop of The Sprint Unlimited’s green flag and determines whether a pit stop will be required after the first segment and if so, whether teams will execute two or four tire changes. Finally, fans have through the drop of the green flag on the race’s second segment to vote on the number of cars to be eliminated after the race’s second segment: zero, two, four or six.

Fans may vote at www.nascar.com/Sprint or via the NASCAR Mobile ’13 app on any wireless device. Mobile ’13 votes will count twice.

A total of 19 drivers are entered in The Sprint Unlimited: Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Mark Martin, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Jr.

Starting positions will be determined by a vote of fans in attendance on race day. They’ll have three choices: Number of career wins (most to least); 2012 final NASCAR Sprint Cup driver point standings and order in which drivers won their first Coors Light Pole last season, beginning with last year’s Daytona 500.

Kyle Busch is the defending winner of the Sprint Unlimited. Other former winners in this year’s field are Kurt Busch, Harvick, Earnhardt, Stewart, Hamlin, Johnson, Martin, Gordon, Schrader, Elliott and Labonte.

Almirola is the only driver making his Sprint Unlimited debut. He drives the Richard Petty Motorsports Ford. Montoya already has one 2013 Speedweeks victory in last month’s GRAND-AM Sports Car Series Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Qualifying sets only Daytona 500 front row … Sunday’s Daytona 500 Coors Light Pole qualifying is unique in that only the top two positions will be guaranteed. Remaining qualifiers are seeded by qualifying speed into Thursday’s Budweiser Duel, two 150-mile races from which the majority of the final starting grid for the Daytona 500 is set.

The front-row qualifiers and the highest 15 finishers in each Duel – excluding the front row from qualifying – will earn a spot in the Daytona 500. The next four fastest Coors Light Pole qualifiers will make up positions 33-36. Six provisional starting positions (37 through 42) will be awarded to the highest eligible car owners in final 2012 standings not otherwise qualified for the race. The 43^rd position will be filled by the most recent past champion participating in a 2012 event. Should no past champion be eligible, the final position goes to the next highest owner in 2012 points.

The most recent Daytona 500 pole winner to win the race was Dale Jarrett in 2000, one of two drivers (Bill Elliott is the other) to sweep The Sprint Unlimited, pole and race in the same season.

UNOH Battle At The Beach opens new Speedweeks chapter … In recent seasons, Speedweeks went dark on the Monday and Tuesday following Coors Light Pole qualifying. No longer.

This year’s Speedweeks’ welcomes the inaugural UNOH Battle at the Beach, staged on a 0.4-mile oval fronting the track’s Superstretch grandstand. The event’s three races offer competition opportunities for drivers from all of NASCAR’s weekly and touring series.

The 150-lap, 60-mile race for NASCAR Whelen All-American drivers will be held at 7 p.m. ET Monday following qualifying races. Two races of similar length for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tours and NASCAR K&N Pro Series begin at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday with lineups also set via qualifying races. SPEED, MRN Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio will broadcast all three feature events live with supplemental coverage provided at www.nascarhometracks.com.

Winners and champions from the 2012 season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tours have earned locked-in spots in their respective features. NASCAR Whelen All-American Series top 10 finishers in the 2012 national standings also own guaranteed starting spots in the Late Model race; and the champions of NASCAR’s three international series: NASCAR Toyota, NASCAR Canadian Tire presented by Mobil 1 and Euro-Racecar Series, have secured spots in whichever race they choose to enter.

Since 1964, Speedweeks at Daytona Annually Kick-Off with Daytona ARCA 200; 50th Anniversary Live on SPEED

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - February 13, 2013) - The off-season may seem like an eternity for race fans, especially for those hungry for big-time stock car racing. And for race fans that just can't wait to tune in, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is strategically positioned as the annual kick-off for Speedweeks at Daytona Int'l Speedway each season.

The 50th annual Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real is live on SPEED Saturday, February 16 at 4:30 p.m. ET. It's the first stock car race of the season on a major-league superspeedway, and a very effective show-opener for NASCAR's Sprint Unlimited, which follows as the main attraction that night.

The annual ARCA event at Daytona marks the 199th all-time SPEED broadcast of an ARCA Racing Series event, and has always been the highest rated ARCA race of the season on SPEED.

ARCA's relations with SPEED reaches back to April 20, 1997, when the network (then called Speedvision) covered the ARCA Racing Series event at Salem Speedway. Since, SPEED has aired 198 ARCA Racing Series events, including the final race of the 2012 season at Kansas Speedway.

The two companies signed an extension of its multi-year contract with an announcement last October. Last year's Daytona race drew a 1.4 rating, meaning 1.4 million homes were tuned in to SPEED to watch Bobby Gerhart claim his record eighth Daytona victory in a wild finish.

ARCA has a long history at Daytona. The series came to Daytona in 1964 at the suggestion of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and has returned every year since. Kyle Petty helped get the event on the map when the third generation driver won the Daytona ARCA 200 in his first-ever stock car start in 1979. Over the years, ARCA wins at Daytona have proven to be effective in launching careers of NASCAR stars like Benny Parsons, Ryan Newman and Kyle Busch, all of whom are ARCA winners at Daytona.

SPEED will broadcast the Lucas Oil 200 live, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The race will re-air at 1 a.m. that night and at noon on Monday, February 18.

Five of the first eight ARCA Racing Series events will be on SPEED this year. The 2013 TV events include races at Daytona, Talladega, Toledo, both races at Pocono, Michigan, Chicagoland, Iowa, Kentucky and the season finale at Kansas. Each ARCA event aired on SPEED in 2013 will be live.

NASCAR Unveils "Air TitanT" Track-Drying Technology

Innovative Device To Result In Reduction Of Track-Drying Time

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2013) – Less than eight months ago, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France tasked the team at the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., with developing a means to shorten the delay caused by rain.

The reasons for the initiative were many, but at the top of the list: Fans, whether in the grandstands or watching on television, should not have to wait long before racing resumes following a downpour.

NASCAR announced today Phase 1 of France’s vision, introducing the Air Titan™ track drying system that will debut during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. This innovative technology, steeped in science and created by the NASCAR R&D Center, will reduce track drying time, improve the racing product and enhance the fan experience – starting this week and including The Sprint Unlimited on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

“In a short amount of time, our talented team at the NASCAR R&D Center imagined, designed and built the Air Titan, an innovative device that will dramatically improve the race-viewing experience for our fans,” France said of the initiative’s first phase. “With its far-reaching potential and impact, we believe the Air Titan is a big win for the motorsports industry, and eventually will enhance many surface cleaning and drying industries as well.”

With the ultimate goal of reducing track-drying time by up to 80%, the NASCAR R&D team took an advanced scientific approach during the production of the Air Titan™. Using compressed air, the Air Titan™ efficiently and reliably pushes water off of the racing surface and onto the apron where vacuum trucks will remove the remainder of the moisture. Jet dryers will follow each Air Titan™, drying any excess water that remains on the racing surface.

As part of the Air Titan’s™ testing process, NASCAR enlisted the expertise of the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) in Auburn, Ala., International Speedway Corporation’s track construction group, Racing Surface Technologies and QualPro Inc. Additionally, Elgin Sweeper Company, Sullair and Ring Power CAT also provided equipment during the testing, and will be part of the track-drying process at Daytona during Speedweeks.

For the immediate future, jet dryers and vacuum trucks will continue to be used during track-drying efforts. Over time, the innovations of the Air Titan™ will lessen the carbon footprint of track drying, decreasing both emissions and noise pollution. The next evolution in the innovative technology will be to optimize the power source.

Kyle Busch s'attaquera à l'Autodrome Chaudière en 2013

Vallée-Jonction, QC (11 février 2013) – L’Autodrome Chaudière 2012 inc. est fier d’annoncer aujourd’hui que Kyle «Rowdy» Busch sera la grande vedette invitée au cours de la deuxième tranche de la prestigieuse Triple Couronne PASS La Québécoise, à l’Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée- Jonction, le mardi 6 août 2013. Busch participera à l’événement, qui sera sans aucun doute la plus grande course de Stock Car sur courte piste de l’histoire du Québec, au volant la Toyota Camry portant le numéro 51 de Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Kyle Busch est considéré par plusieurs comme étant le plus grand talent brut sur le circuit NASCAR de la Coupe Sprint. Connu pour son intensité et son désir de gagner, Rowdy est un adversaire de taille et il est une menace à la victoire chaque dimanche après-midi. Ses records parlent par eux-mêmes; 24 victoires de la Coupe Sprint, 51 victoires de la série Nationwide, 30 victoires de la série camionnettes Camping World et un championnat de la série Nationwide. La deuxième tranche de la prestigieuse Triple Couronne PASS La Québécoise se tiendra le mardi 6 août 2013 avec une date de remise le mercredi 7 août 2013 en cas de pluie. Aussi, il y aura des pratiques le lundi 5 août 2013 pour tous les participants de la course. La cédule complète de l’événement sera annoncée au courant des prochains mois et elle comprendra une séance d’autographes et plusieurs autres activités.

La triple couronne PASS La Québécoise est un championnat de trois courses qui se tiendra à l’Autodrome Chaudière. Les trois courses seront sanctionnées par la série PASS et compteront au sein du championnat PASS Nord. Ces dernières sont cédulées pour le 18 mai 2013, le 6 août 2013 ainsi que le 7 septembre 2013. Au total, 135 000$ seront distribués au courant du championnat, ce qui attirera plusieurs pilotes partout au Canada et aux États-Unis.

Kyle Busch to take on Autodrome Chaudière

Vallee-Jonction, QC (Feb. 11, 2013) – Autodrome Chaudiere 2012 Inc. is proud to announce that Kyle “Rowdy” Busch will be entering the second leg of the PASS La Quebecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee-Jonction Quebec on Tuesday, August 6^th, 2013. This race will be the second race of the prestigious PASS La Quebecoise Triple Crown at the famed highbank ¼ mile. Busch will be participating in the event, which will undoubtedly be the biggest short track event in the history of the province of Québec, in his #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Super-Late Model Camry.

Kyle Busch is considered by many to be the best raw talent on the Sprint Cup circuit. Known for his intensity and will to win, Busch is a force to reckon with and a threat to win every Sunday afternoon. His record speaks for itself; 24 Sprint Cup series wins, 51 Nationwide series wins, 30 Camping World truck series wins, along with a Nationwide series championship. These 105 careers wins across the three NASCAR national circuits puts him 3^rd on the all-time win list behind Richard Petty (200) and David Pearson (106). Along with these impressive numbers, Rowdy’s resume is stacked with incredible accomplishments such as The Bristol Sweep where he swept all three national series races in the same weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Kyle Busch’s passion for racing is so great that he races Super-Late models during his off weekends and spare time. The new Owners of Autodrome Chaudiere, Dany Lagacé and Kevin Roberge, are thrilled to have a great star like Kyle Busch at their short track. “When we bought the racetrack this summer Dany and I had a bucket list and I will let you guess what was number one on the list,” Autodrome Chaudiere Vice-President Kevin Roberge said. “To be able to announce today that Kyle Busch will be rolling onto our racetrack in August is an honor and a dream come true.” When discussing the coming of NASCAR star Kyle Busch Dany Lagacé, president of Autodrome Chaudiere, is categorical, “I’ve always said that I want Autodrome Chaudiere to be known as one of the greatest short tracks and having Kyle Busch roll onto the highbank in August will elevate it to the ranks of the greatest.”

The race will be held on Tuesday, August 6^th, 2013 with a rain date scheduled for Wednesday, August 7^th, 2013. Also, an open practice will be held on Monday, August 5^th, 2013 for all PASS competitors. The PASS La Quebecoise Triple Crown is a three race championship that will be held at Autodrome Chaudiere. All three races will be sanctioned by PASS and will count towards the PASS North Championship. The three races will be held on May 18^th, 2013, August 6^th, 2013 and September 7^th, 2013. A total of $135,000 will be given in purse during the three race championship and will attract drivers from all over Canada and the United States.

Un vétéran qui aura le Titre à sa portée

Après une saison 2012 exceptionnelle qui lui aura fait vivre plein de sensation, le sympathique pilote beauceron François Lessard #71 de St-Joseph a confirmé son retour en 2013.

Toute une saison 2012!!!!!!

Après un début de saison difficile et de malchance, François à pris les choses en main et a terminé la saison en force avec une 4^e position au championnat.

Au GP3R, il a connu son moment de gloire avec un triomphe dans la course du vendredi soir ce qui l'a propulsé derrière le VOLANT D'OR dans la prestigieuse Série Nascar Canadian Tire Canada. Après des temps très respectables en pratique libre et une 21^e position en qualification, Lessard connait une course de rêve terminant 13^e sur le tour du meneur à sa première expérience derrière un volant de cette envergure.

Pour 2013, François entrevoit sa saison d'un bon œil comme l'explique ses commentaires : « Je suis très heureux de revenir pour une autre saison dans la grande famille Sportsman Québec.

L'équipe #71 aura pour but d'effectuer un tour à la fois (don`t stop believe it).

André Poulin (Président) ajouta : « François restera toujours François, un pilote aguerrit qui peut changer le résultat d'une course à tout moment. De plus, je sais qu'il sera au plus fort de la lutte cette saison »

JOEY DOIRON SCORES BIGGEST CAREER WIN IN PASS FLORIDA WINTER MELTDOWN 200

Joey Doiron nudged past Florida hotshoe Joe Boyd with eight laps to go to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model National season opener Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway. Doiron’s win in the Florida Winter Meltdown 200 and was his second straight season opening win after capturing the PASS North opener last year at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

“This is such a big deal, last year’s win at Beech Ridge gave us a big boost and I can’t wait to get to Hickory and Oxford,” said an elated Doiron in victory lane. “We’ve always had a decent car when we come down South, but we’ve had terrible luck. I got into the 5 (Boyd) in turn two and he had a chance to get back to me, but we were just a little bit better there at the end.”

After qualifying fastest and leading the most laps, Boyd was happy with a strong effort and glad to come home in second.

“This is a brand new Port City race car and I can’t wait to get it to Dillon now,” said Boyd referring to the PASS South season opener coming up in March. “I’m happy, I wanted to win in front of the hometown fans, but we just didn’t quite have enough.”

Luck appeared to be on Boyd’s side after pulling the number one pill during the redraw and led the field to green. The first caution of the night waved on lap 15 after a spin by Dale Shaw in turn four. After starting sixth, Doiron was on the move passing Anthony Sergi on lap 23 for third. Seven laps later, Jeff Scofield would fall victim to Doiron as he relinquished the second position to the Maine native. Following the second caution of the night on lap 36 for a spin by Spencer Davis, Doiron raced around Boyd for the lead on the ensuing restart. Doiron’s lead would be short-lived, however, as Boyd charged back around to regain the top spot just two laps later. The most serious accident of the night occurred on lap 60 when Eddie King and DJ Shaw tangled in turn two battling for seventh. The contact resulted in Shaw going up and over King’s left front quarter panel and hood. Shaw was able to continue, but King was done for the night.

Two-time PASS National Champion Ben Rowe looked strong early, but dropped back after contact from Dale Shaw and spun a few laps later.

At lap 100, a competition caution waved to allow teams the option to change two tires. Boyd and Doiron were up front as the teams headed to the pits with Jeff Scofield, Jonathan Guy, and Alexander Gringas rounding out the top five.

As the second half of the Winter Meltdown got under way, Doiron got the better of Boyd on the double file restart and took the lead for the second time in the race. After a spin by Chad Pierce on lap 121, the Meltdown would enter its longest green flag stretch. The race would go caution free for over 50 laps with Doiron stretching to nearly a straightaway advantage over Boyd. During this stretch of the race, several cars fell out due to brake problems including Rowe, Gingras, and Dale Shaw, whose brakes caught on fire briefly to bring out the race’s final caution of the night.

With 21 laps to go, Boyd was able to get a better restart than Doiron to charge back into the lead. But, Doiron would hound Boyd over the final laps, making slight contact in turn two to retake the lead for the final time. Doiron held on for his second career PASS Super Late Model win over Boyd, Scofield, Jay Fogleman, and Jonathan Guy. The next event for the Pro All Stars Series will be on March 9^th at Dillon Motor Speedway. The 8^th Annual South Carolina Clash will be the season opener for the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models.
