Strong Field Expected For PASS South Opener at Dillon

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 5) – Anticipation continues to build for what looks to be one of the most exciting and competitive seasons yet for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model division and the new PASS Pro Late Model division.  PASS South has proven to be the place where top short track drivers from around the country come to compete on the Southeast’s toughest track.  The PASS Pro Late Models will race as a companion series to PASS South and is already proving to be one of the top divisions for young racers just starting out.

 

The 16 race PASS South schedule kicks off this weekend at the demanding Dillon Motor Speedway with the 8th Annual South Carolina Clash and will be followed just a week later by the Bash At The Beach at Myrtle Beach Speedway.  Both tracks have been very busy of late with teams preparing for these first two PASS South races on back-to-back weekends.  

Since 2011, Brad Keselowski Racing has built a top notch Super Late Model team led by veteran head wrench Gary Crooks.  Last year, the BKR team took its first ever Super Late Model victory in a PASS South event at South Boston Speedway with Landon Cling piloting the #29 entry.  Cling finished fifth in final PASS South points, just edging out Iowa rookie Nate Caruth who finished sixth in the #19 BKR machine.

This year, Texas native Zak Hausler takes over the #19, while Maine racer Austin Theriault takes sole possession of the #29.  Theriault has driven for BKR over the last few seasons, but will only be making his second ever PASS South start in this weekend’s South Carolina Clash.  Theriault is not a stranger to PASS however.  He won the PASS North season finale last year at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway.  Theriault took full advantage of Dillon and Myrtle Beach’s close proximity and tested successfully at both speedways recently.

“I’m confident that with our hard work during the offseason and using last year’s success to build on our strong foundation, we can contend for wins wherever we go,” said Theriault.  “I’m looking forward to Dillon and Myrtle Beach to get our year kicked off on the right foot.  Both cars were great at the test.”

Speaking of rookies, in 2012 Kyle Grissom did what few thought was possible by taking the PASS South title in his first season of ever driving Super Late Models.  While most thought he could make the transition from the heavier Late Model Stock cars to the sleeker, more powerful PASS South Super Late Models, no one could have guessed how much success Grissom and the Greg Marlowe team would have.  With just three starts under his belt, Grissom took his first career PASS South checkered flag at Hickory Motor Speedway’s Easter Bunny 150.  Then, he proceeded to make a little PASS South history.  Grissom became the first driver to ever win three straight PASS South races and his five wins overall equaled Ben Rowe’s single season wins record set back in 2009.  Now, with a successful 2012 season behind them, Grissom and the Harrison’s Workwear team come to Dillon anxious to defend their title as champions.

“There is always pressure showing up as the defending champion, but this is a new year and these PASS South drivers are always tough,” said Grissom.  “I’m really excited to get back to Dillon after only racing there once last year.  We are working on some different set ups, so I’m excited to see what we’ve got this year.”

One of the biggest surprises to come out of the 2012 season was the performance of Brandon Ward and the New Day Motorsports team.  Always competitive but seeming to come up just short, the New Day Motorsports #62 and owner Jeff Day have raced with PASS South since the series started in 2006.  But, things began to turn around when Ward joined the team in 2010 and by last year all the pieces seemed to be in place to make a run at the title.  Ward took the #62 to victory lane twice last year, first at Wake County Speedway and then in the Firecracker 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway.  It all began, though, with a good run in the South Carolina Clash.  Ward led the most laps of the race at Dillon before fading to eighth in the final rundown.  Now with a new car and more confidence than ever, Ward thinks 2013 could be his year.

“I’m really looking forward to the race at Dillon and getting the new season started,” said Ward.  “I’m happy to be back with New Day Motorsports and having kpmoto.com, Kevin Powell Motorsports, and Foothill Ford back with us.  Dillon is a fun racetrack and a great facility and it should be a great show for the fans.”

The 8th Annual South Carolina Clash once again starts the Super Late Model season in the Southeast and the field will be stacked with plenty of contenders for the win.  Defending PASS National Jay Fogleman will be back not only looking for a win, but to set a course for the 2013 PASS South title.  Two-time PASS National Champion and former South Carolina Clash winner Ben Rowe makes the long trip down from Maine in the hopes of early season success.  Former PASS South winner Clay Rogers returns behind the wheel of the Coulter Motorsports entry.  After a strong second place run in the PASS National season opener at Auburndale Speedway, Florida’s Joe Boyd heads to unfamiliar territory looking for similar results.  Boyd will be joined by fellow Sunshine State driver Joseph Mursuli, who comes to PASS South from the Florida Truck ranks.  The PASS South youth movement continues with the efforts of North Carolina’s Bobby Gower, Indiana youngster Karl Weber and home state driver Gus Dean.  Veteran John Batten returns along with Justin Allison, Jimmy Doyle, Bill Catania “Krazy” Kevin Powell and a host of others hoping to start the season off at Dillon with a win.

The PASS Pro Late Models have attracted attention from young drivers all over the country hoping to continue their climb up the racing ladder in bigger, faster cars.  These drivers will get their first chance of the season at Dillon Saturday night with a 75 lap test around the 4/10 mile egg-shaped oval.  Tate Fogleman comes into the season with high hopes and a new look.  Fogleman will be sponsored by Speedco for the full PASS Pro Late Model season and will make the switch from #4 to #8.  But, he will have a stout field of challengers led by Trevor Noles in the Coulter Motorsports machine.  Noles got a late start last season, but adapted quickly scoring wins at Hickory and Concord.  Perhaps the driver with the most experience in the PASS Pro Late Model field at Dillon will be Darlington, SC’s Hayes Goodson.  Goodson is a third generation racer and will sport the familiar blue #16 made famous by his father, Hal.  Hayes Goodson has a number of laps around Dillon Motor Speedway and has multiple wins in the Supertruck and Late Model divisions.  Hopes will also be high for young Harrison Burton.  Harrison, the son of Sprint Cup winner Jeff Burton, will make his debut with the PASS Pro Late Models at Dillon this weekend.  Jeff Batten, Walker Yates, Tyler Audie, Austin Reed, Collin Vernal, Nick Robinson and more will present quite a challenge when the green flag drops over an impressive field of PASS Pro Late Models on Saturday night.

South Carolina Clash action starts this weekend on Friday with rotating practice from 3-6:30 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, PASS Pro Late Models, Allison Legacy, Legends, and Bandoleros.  On Saturday, pit gates open at 9 AM, with rotating practice for all divisions from 11 AM to 2:40 PM, qualifying will be at 3:15 PM and main event racing will start at 5 PM.

            Following the South Carolina Clash at Dillon, the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models move to Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 16 for the Inaugural Battle At The Beach.  Dillon Motor Speedway owner Ron Barfield will be keeping his track open for a few days after the South Carolina Clash and will make his race shop available for any out-of-town teams planning to race at Myrtle Beach.

Fans are encouraged to check out the Run To The Sun XXV car show held in Myrtle Beach on March 14-16 by the Pee Dee Street Rodders.  Vendors and fans who attend the car show will have the opportunity to pick up discount coupons for the PASS race at Myrtle Beach Speedway that weekend.  PASS will also have an awards presentation for our 2012 competitors during the “Pit Party” prior to the Bash At The Beach green flag.

From Daytona Int'l to Mobile Int'l, ARCA Racing Series on the March; Pre-Race Notes Package - ARCA Mobile 200 Saturday

From Daytona to Mobile: On the heels of the 50th Anniversary race at Daytona Int'l Speedway, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will return to its short track roots for the second annual ARCA-Mobile 200 Saturday, March 9. Local Mobile born and bred favorite Cale Gale won last year's inaugural ARCA race at Mobile.

 

Enfinger/Praytor hometown heroes: Although Cale Gale will not be back to defend his ARCA-Mobile 200 title, the hometown fans will have plenty to cheer about with Fairhope, Alabama's Grant Enfinger and Mobile's Thomas Praytor entered.Enfinger led 48 laps in last year's event before fading on the closing laps to 13th in the final running order. Enfinger will have the aid of veteran driver and crew chief Kelly Kovski at Mobile. The two have a successful history together on the tour. Enfinger, with Kovski as crew chief, drove for Allgaier Motorsports fulltime in 2011 and finished a career-best fourth in national championship points. Enfinger has been so close to his career-first ARCA victory with second place finishes at Kentucky, Chicagoland, and just last year at Iowa. Enfinger has also finished third at Kansas three times, third at Toledo, Pocono, Berlin, Texas, Iowa, Chicagoland and Talladega. Thomas "The Moose" Praytor is the son of Mobile track promoter Tommy Praytor. Praytor was running in the top-five at Daytona last month before a late-race pit stop shuffled him back to 22nd in the final running order.

 

Kimmel looking for career win 77 at Mobile:

Nine-time ARCA Racing Series driving champion Frank Kimmel is second on the all-time ARCA Series win list with 76 victories behind only Iggy Katona, who leads with 79. Kimmel opened the season with a fourth place finish at Daytona, his best start in eight seasons.

 

Tom Hessert to make 100th career start at Mobile: If milestones matter, then chalk one up for ARCA Racing Series veteran Tom Hessert, who is positioned to make his 100th career ARCA start in the next event on tour - the ARCA-Mobile 200. Hessert finished ninth last year at Mobile. Some of Hessert's career-best ARCA finishes have come on short tracks, including both of his series victories at Iowa Speedway in 2010, and at Salem Speedway at the tail-end of 2012. After driving for Ken Schrader Racing for two seasons, Hessert made the switch back to Cunningham Motorsports for the 2013 season. Hessert's crew chief at Mobile will be NASCAR/ARCA veteran Paul Andrews, who crew-chiefed the late Alan Kulwicki to the 1992 NASCAR Cup championship.

 

Cunningham enters rookie Anderson Bowen: In addition to Hessert, Cunningham Motorsports will introduce 15-year-old rookie Anderson Bowen at Mobile. Bowen, from Suwanee, Georgia, has already made a name for himself winning the Southern Pro Challenge Series championship in 2010. If Bowen were to win the race at Mobile, and if Kyle Benjamin (a younger 15) does not, Bowen would become the youngest winner in ARCA Racing Series history. Cunningham Motorsports has a very successful history in ARCA, fielding cars for ARCA winners Parker Kligerman and Alex Bowman in the past. Both Kligerman and Bowman have moved onto full seasons in the NASCAR Nationwide Series tour for 2013.

 

Venturini Motorsports times 4 at Mobile: Longtime series participants Venturini Motorsports has four cars entered for the ARCA Mobile 200, including its flagship No. 25 machine with Baltimore, Md. rookie Justin Boston driving with title sponsorship from Zloop.

 

-Kyle Benjamin: 15-year-old Kyle Benjamin will occupy the No. 15 Venturini Motorsports Toyota at Mobile.The Easley, South Carolina prodigy won his fourth straight Super Late Model victory in the 47th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway during Speedweeks 2103. Benjamin, the 2012 ARCA CRA Super Series Southern champion, is already the youngest winner in ARCA CRA Super Series history with his victory at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2012. Benjamin will have another ace in the hole for Mobile - veteran crew chief Kevin Reed, who just earned the biggest victory of his career as crew chief for John Wes Townley, the ARCA winner at Daytona.

 

-Milka Duno: Caracas, Venezuela's Milka Duno is entered in Venturini's No. 35 Toyota. She qualified second at Daytona, and led the first 11 laps before mechanical problems curtailed her effort, relegating her to a 28th place finish. Duno finished 18th at Mobile last year. "I love short tracks and the unique challenges they present," Duno said. "Short tracks really test a driver's skill and you have to work really hard to do well. I like to work hard and I like challenges - so I'm looking forward to the race at Mobile." Duno, in the off-season, switched from David Leiner Racing to Venturini Motorsports where she is slated to run the full 2013 ARCA season. Her career-best ARCA finish is 10th at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2012.

 

-Taylor Ferns:

Ferns, the young lady from Shelby Township, Michigan, is slated to make her ARCA debut at Mobile in the No. 55 Venturini Motorsports Toyota. Ferns, 17, tested with Venturini Motorsports at Daytona last December, and the led the charts in speed during one of the test sessions. Currently, Ferns is scheduled to compete in ARCA races at Mobile, Toledo, Elko, Iowa, the DuQuoin mile-dirt, Pocono and Kentucky. An open wheel graduate, Ferns won the 2011 National USAC Mopar D1 Regional Midget championship.  

 

Benjamin youngest driver in history to compete in ARCA:Benjamin could become the youngest winner in ARCA history if he can win at Mobile. Currently, that honor belongs to James Buescher, who won at the now defunct USA Int'l Speedway just two days shy of his 17th birthday. Regardless of whether Benjamin wins at Mobile, he will still surpass Erik Jones as the youngest driver to ever compete in ARCA Racing Series competition when he competes at Mobile. Prior to this year's race at Mobile, Jones was the youngest to start an ARCA race when he competed at Mobile last year at 15 years old.    

 

Hylton oldest driver in field, final appearance at Mobile: While 15-year-old Kyle Benjamin will officially go on record as the youngest driver to ever compete in ARCA Racing Series competition, it's worth noting that James Hylton will be the oldest on record to compete. Hylton, the 1966 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year, is 78 years old, separating himself with Benjamin by 63 years. Hylton is entered in his own No. 48 Radon.com Ford. As reported in the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Hylton announced his retirement from driving race cars. The 2013 season will mark his farewell tour behind the wheel of his famous No. 48. "I've been thinking about this for quite a while," Hylton said. "I'm 78, and the time has come." Hylton made 602 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts since 1964, winning twice at Talladega and Richmond. Since 1997, Hylton has made 144 ARCA starts, including the season-opening Daytona ARCA 200 where the Inman, South Carolina driver finished a respectable 26th.

 

Kimmel and Kimmel ready for Mobile: Will Kimmel, the nephew of nine-time champion Frank Kimmel, has again teamed up with his father/car owner/crew chief Bill Kimmel, Jr. for the ARCA-Mobile 200. Will's career-best ARCA finish is second at Salem in 2011. Prior to teaming up with his son, Bill Kimmel earned eight Cometic Crew Chief of the Year titles with his brother Frank. The Kimmel Racing team has also entered a second car at Mobile with rookie Korbin Forrister, of Cedartown, Ga.

 

Win Tron Racing's Mason Mingus one to watch: Rookie Mason Mingus finished a solid seventh at Daytona in his superspeedway debut just last month. Mingus, a senior in high school from Brentwood, Tennessee, cut his ARCA teeth in 2012 for Win-Tron, participating on short tracks only. Despite the limited schedule, the 18-year-old teenager earned seven top-10 finishes including finishes of eighth at New Jersey Motorsports Park, eighth on the Springfield mile dirt, ninth at Elko, 10th at Salem, and 10th at Lucas Oil Raceway. Mingus finished 19th at Mobile last year. Mingus announced recently a full ARCA season with Win-Tron.

 

Bo Lemastus working with NASCAR veteran Geoff Bodine: Rookie Bo Lemastus is getting assistance for the ARCA Mobile 200 from NASCAR veteran driver Geoff Bodine, who will be serving in the capacity of coach and raceday spotter for Lemastus's No. 42 Crosley Radio Dodge for the entire 2013 season. Lemastus is CEO of Crosley Radio, which manufacturers vintage electronics under the Crosley brand. Lemastus recently purchased the complete inventory from Mark Gibson Racing for the 2013 ARCA Racing Series season. Lemastus's racing background includes 20 years in AMA motorcycle racing and five years of SCCA road course racing. Lemastus finished 16th on the lead lap in his ARCA debut last month at Daytona.

 

Championship Contender Gallagher on the March: With one full ARCA season under him, Spencer Gallagher is yet another championship contender on tour for 2013. The Las Vegas, Nevada driver steadily improved his performance last year, ultimately finishing seventh in overall championship standings. His meticulously-prepared No. 23 Chevy Monte Carlo is headed up by veteran crew chief David Hirsch, and is sponsored by Allegiant Air. Gallagher has high hopes for Mobile considering most of his best finishes in 2012 came on short track with the-10 runs at Winchester, Iowa, Lucas Oil, the Springfield mile dirt and the rough and tumble Salem Speedway. His best superspeedway performance last year was at Michigan where he finished eighth.

 

Carter 2 Motorsports Two-Car Team for Mobile: Roger Carter, car owner for Carter 2 Motorsports, will be fielding two cars at Mobile, one for himself to drive - the No. 97 RoadrunnerTheMovie.com-KSS Productions Dodge, and a second entry for Carter's shop manager Nick Tucker to drive. Tucker will be aboard the No. 40 No Fear Drivers Challenge Dodge. Carter refers to Tucker as one of the best short track drivers around and has an excellent short track resume.

 

World's coolest trophy: Crosley Radio will present the ARCA-Mobile 200 champion a full-size 42 in. ARCA-Mobile-branded Crosley iJuke® Deluxe Jukebox. "We think this will become the coolest trophy in racing," said Bo Lemastus, CEO of Crosley Radio. "For almost 100 years the Crosley name has been synonymous with quality products priced for the average consumer. Racing is the perfect marketing venue for our brand that brings back fond memories with the latest technology." In addition to supplying Saturday's winner with a full scale Jukebox, Crosley Radio will reward the second and third place finishers of the ARCA-Mobile 200 and the winners of Friday nights Bombers and Sportsman races a 17 inch version table top version.    

 

Volvo to pace the ARCA field:

For the first time in history, a Volvo will pace the field at an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event when this 2013 Volvo S60 leads the field to green at the second annual ARCA-Mobile 200 at Mobile Int'l Speedway Saturday, March 9. The sleek new machine comes to the track compliments of Robinson Brothers Lincoln Volvo of Mobile.  

 

Pre-race festivities big at Mobile, USS Alabama autograph session, hauler parade & more Thursday: The pre-race festivities for the second annual ARCA-Mobile 200 start Thursday afternoon at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park where the renowned park will welcome aboard ARCA fans, drivers, and teams. The event at the USS Alabama includes an ARCA driver autograph session from 5:00-6:00 p.m. before ARCA haulers will cast off from the Battleship in a hauler parade to Mobile International Speedway to prepare for Friday's on-track activity. The hauler parade will mark the beginning of the Causeway Seafood Jubilee as ARCA fans, teams, and drivers will enjoy the great seafood offered by restaurants on the Causeway. In addition, the rock band The Truth will perform Thursday night from 8:00 to closing time at the Home Mortgage of America Green Flag party at Grand Central on Dauphin Street in downtown Mobile. The Truth's, Ayesha Scott will perform the national anthem for Saturday's ARCA-Mobile 200.

La saison 2013 s'annonce excitante

Après une série de 5 courses assez tumultueuses dues à certains problèmes mécaniques, l’année 2013 sera des plus attendue car le premier drapeau vert ne tombera que le samedi 18 mai lors d’un programme réunissant les Sportsman ANCA et les Sportsman Québec. La préparation mécanique de l’Acura #11 s’entreprendra d’ici la fin du mois de février et elle se poursuivra jusqu’à la fin avril alors que des essais sur piste sont prévus. La recherche de commanditaire aussi est sur le point de commencer, les derniers correctifs au programme de publicité de l’équipe seront apportés d’ici une semaine.

 

En 2013, l’équipe de course Champagne Motorsports alignera l’Acura Integra en Sport Compacte et aussi le Buick Skylark 1975 dans l’Association de Stock-Car Vintage du Québec comme à l’accoutumée. Des négociations sont en cours quant à l’inscription de l’équipe dans une série Touring pour un calendrier partiel et le pilote à prendre le volant est encore à être déterminé. Le duo père/fils, Pierre-Paul Jr.1 et Jean-François, ont presque déjà le couteau entre les dents et ils ont soif de victoire.

International 500 Reaches Record $140,000 Purse

Waterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour officials have announced that the Inaugural ACT International 500 to be held at Airborne Speedway on the weekend of July 20/21 will exceed a total purse of $140,000, making it the richest event in ACT’s 28-year history.

 

Airborne Speedway Promoter Mike Perrotte can’t wait to get the weekend started.

 

“I’m extremely excited to have a race of this magnitude here.  It will be without a doubt the biggest event ever held at Airborne Speedway,” said Perrotte.  “It’s a big boost to our community.  Fans from all over will get to watch more than 500 laps of exciting short track racing from teams all over New England, New York, Rhode Island, Quebec and Ontario.  It’s going to be a huge event.”

 

 

American Canadian Tour teams on both sides of the border are fired up for a chance at the enormous payday.  8-time American Canadian Tour Champion Brian Hoar and his team see it as a shot at history.

 

“I love the long distance races, they really suit my style,” said Hoar.  “I don’t change my goals week to week whether it’s point racing or not.  We will definitely be going for it.  I’ve had a lot of success at Airborne over the years; I really love it there. Hopefully we can tune it right, lead a lot of laps, and lead the most important one too,” he finished.

 

Runner-up on the Série ACT Castrol Jean-Francois Déry expects to fly the Canadian flag high at the summer’s marquee event.

THE STORY

FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, makes his 2013 PASS South Series debut in the South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, S.C., on Saturday, March 9. The driver of the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion won in his last start in a PASS-sanctioned Super Late Model race last October, when Theriault won the PASS North Series season finale at Oxford (Maine) Plains Speedway. Theriault, the BKR development driver in his second full season with the organization owned by 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, led several laps in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Speedfest 200 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga., in January before he was wrecked out of the Top-5 by another competitor in the late stages of the event. This will be Theriault's first career start at Dillon Motor Speedway.

·         Austin Theriault moved to North Carolina in the offseason and works at Brad Keselowski Racing during the week.

·         Austin Theriault finished third in the prestigious Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in each of the last two seasons, becoming the youngest podium finisher in the 40-year history of the race in 2011.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

AUSTIN THERIAULT, Driver of the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion, On getting back to the track this weekend for the first time since January: “I'm looking forward to it. I thought we had a great run at Watermelon (Capital Speedway). We didn't get the finish that we wanted and we had some tough luck in the race, but that's what racing's about – not everything is going to happen the way you want it to. But I felt like we came out of that race on a strong note. The whole team jelled, and we were continuing the momentum we had at the end of last season as a team.

“We went to Dillon and Myrtle Beach (Speedway) and did some testing last week. It was my first time at the tracks, but I left feeling like we were going to have something this week.”

 

On keeping the momentum going despite some breaks in the racing schedule: “Continuing with good momentum is all about reflecting on what the team is doing well – finding what the team is doing well or the driver figuring out what no other drivers are doing – and improving on it. It's about doing whatever it takes to find an edge.

“For me, I try to reflect on the race that went by and try to focus on what went well and what maybe didn't so that we can improve it. Right now, pretty much everything's going well for us. On the other hand, I highlight the things that can be improved or that I need to work on as a driver. I have a list that I take to every race, and I try and work on those and keep getting better.”


On returning to PASS-sanctioned competition this weekend: “I've enjoyed running the PASS South races before. We ran Concord (Motorsports Park) last season, and I enjoy running with the series. There's some good competition. But I'm just looking forward to getting back in the groove. I feel like we have a couple of tracks coming up in these next two weeks where we can run for wins. (Crew chief Gary Crooks) has a strong notebook for Dillon, so it will be fun.

“This race coming up is one that I would be disappointed with nothing less than being in contention for a win. There's only so much that's in our hands when the green flag drops, but if we can capitalize on all the opportunities and make sure we don't make any mistakes, I feel like we'll have something.”

The PASS South Series returns to action with the PASS 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Saturday, March 16... Austin Theriault will make his second straight start in a PASS South event at the race. It will be his first start at the historic facility.

Dirty Dozen Late Model Series: Reid Lanpher
Southern Nat'l Motorsports Park Race Report

 

LUCAMA, N.C. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, posted a pair of finishes in the top half of a stout Late Model field in his debut with JR Motorsports at Southern National Motorsports Park. Lanpher, 14, finished 11th and 12th at the Dirty Dozen Twin 100s in the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet. After time-trialing for the first time in his career, Lanpher started the first 100-lap Late Model Stock event 14th in the 26-car field and worked his way into the Top-10 before settling for 11th following a final late-race restart. In the second event of the afternoon, he started 11th and fell back as far as 18th following a communication miscue on a restart but recovered to drive back up to 12th – ahead of the reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion – without the benefit of getting four fresh tires following the first race, per event rules.

REID, HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP YOUR FIRST EFFORT WITH JR MOTORSPORTS?

I came out of there really happy about things. It couldn't have gone much better as far as I'm concerned. I just learned a lot, got very comfortable in the car an mostly got the race out of the way so now I know what to look forward to the next time we go back.

Just as an added bonus, we got a decent finish out of it, too.

 

DID YOU FEEL LIKE YOU FINISHED WHERE YOU WANTED TO?

I do. I mean, in the first race I was running ninth with five (laps) to go, and we made a mistake on the cone choice (for restart lanes). That cost me there, but we still finished 11th in my first time in the car, so that's not really anything big. For going in really having no expectations, it was fine.

 

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST THINGS YOU LEARNED?

Qualifying was huge. It's so important to qualify up front. If you do, you don't have to use the tires up to get back to where your car should be in terms of speed. But those guys put down some really fast qualifying times. When I compared myself to (JR Motorsports teammate and 2012 Motor Mile Speedway champion Josh Berry), he qualified just under a tenth of a second under me. I was pretty thrilled with how things played out from that standpoint.

The other thing was the competition. There's just some really good competition there – just stackers on top of stackers on top of stackers there. I battled with one guy for 50 laps trying to get him. That's just how good those guys are. It was good to be out there.

Tate Fogleman and Speedco Look To Continue Competitive Legacy in 2013

DURHAM, NC (March 4) - Representatives from Jfco Motorsports announced today that Cayuga, Indiana-based Speedco, Inc. will sponsor Tate Fogleman and will challenge for the 2013 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Pro Late Model championship.  Additionally, Fogleman will drive the Speedco-sponsored Ford in 4-5 select PASS Super Late Model races this year.  Along with the new sponsorship, Tate will make the switch from the familiar #4 and will sport the #8 on his machine in 2013.

 

Tate Fogleman scored two wins in the PASS Pro Late Model ranks in 2012 and finished 7th in the first PASS National Super Late Model race of the season at Auburndale Speedway in Florida.  This will be a reunion of sorts as Speedco had a long and successful relationship sponsoring Tate's father, Jay, in a variety of series in the late 1990's and 2000's. 

“I’m glad to finally have Tate with a sponsor that has such a great reputation like Speedco does," said 2012 PASS National Jay Fogleman, owner of Tate's Speedco Ford.  "Speedco has been great to work with over the years and with my career winding down and more of an emphasis on growing Tate's, I'm glad to know that Speedco will be winning races with the Foglemans for years to come.  I’d also like to send special thanks out to Darin Odle and Odle Motorsports, without them this deal wouldn’t have happened.”

Young Tate has quite the lineage to follow in racing.  The 12-year-old driver follows his Grandfather Kent, a successful racer in the Carolinas and Virginia on the rough and tough short tracks of the 1960's and 1970's, and his father Jay, who has raced and won in everything he has sat in for nearly 30 years.  With such a bright future in front of him, it is Speedco's intention to foster a long term relationship that will grow as Tate continues to progress through the ranks.

The 2013 season will be a busy one for Tate Fogleman and the Speedco team as they challenge for the PASS Pro Late Model title.  Fogleman will compete against some of the best young drivers in the country beginning on March 9th with the 8th Annual South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway.  In addition to the 14 race PASS Pro Late Model schedule, Tate will make his next PASS South Super Late Model start at one of the Nation's biggest short track events, the 8th Annual Easter Bunny 150 at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway.  Fogleman is excited about the opportunity Speedco presents for him and the Bull City Race Cars team.

Un nouveau pilote en REVSTAR

Un nouveau Pilote qui se joint à la série Pierre Fontaine

Pierre Fontaine s'est découvert une nouvelle passion pour la course automobile l'an dernier après avoir loué un STR pour participer à la dernière course de la saison. Il a pogné la piqûre !

Il avait toujours eu l'intention de tenter l'expérience de la course automobile sans savoir où il pourrait faire ses débuts. L'opportunité que lui a offert REVSTAR a comblé ses attentes. Il a tout de suite été convaincu que REVSTAR représente une plateforme de qualité avec la diversité des circuits visités et le programme des courses sur glace. Une série qui demeure avant tout accessible.

 



Pierre s'est procuré une des anciennes voitures de Gabriel Richer auprès d'Alain Mathieu qui lui a revendu pour faire l'acquisition de celle de Jonathan Archambault qui a opté pour la série DIRT Modifié sur la terre battue.

Un signe évident que la série est populaire. Dès que les deux pilotes qui ont mis en vente leur voiture pour graduer en DIRT Modifié, ils n'ont pas tardé à trouver preneur.

Puisque les bolides  STR sont tous identiques, les pilotes seront sur le même pied d’égalité pour s'imposer dans la série STR de REVSTAR, ils ont choisi les couleurs des véhicules en fonction de leur commanditaire, ce qui va leur faire économiser des frais.
