Plattsburgh, NY – Sweet almost didn't make it to qualifying for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) International 500 at Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday – but he arrived just in time to win the pole for the ACT Late Model 200-lap, $10,000-to-win feature on Sunday, July 19.
Barre, VT's Sweet, whose wife has been dealing with complications surrounding the early arrival of his third child, decided at the last minute to make the trip for the event. He and his Eric Chase–owned #40VT Late Model team pulled into the pits as the final ACT practice session of the day was wrapping up.
The team hustled to get the car ready for competition, and Sweet raced from sixth to third in the second qualifying heat, earning a +3 in ACT's plus/minus handicapping system. That was enough for Sweet to win a tiebreaker with Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert for the pole position in tomorrow's event.
"I had a great time today," Sweet said. "There were no expectations; we just wanted to go out there and have fun. We're glad that a weekly Thunder Road driver could be on the pole. We'll hopefully keep performing and try to build on it tomorrow.
"We've been looking forward to this race, and circumstances almost didn't allow for us to be here, but we made it, and we're glad we did."
Hebert will start on the outside pole after earning a +3 in the third qualifying heat. Hebert began the Friday practice day at the bottom of the speed charts, but has made steady improvement throughout the weekend.
Patrick Laperle, Alex Labbé, and Wayne Helliwell Jr. earned victories in the ACT qualifying heats. Jean-François Déry won the consolation race.
Quebec's Patrick Cliche developed engine problems in the second-to-last pratice and missed his qualifying heat while changing engines. Cliche started last in the consi and raced his way up to seventh, earning the 19thstarting position in Sunday's event.
Donald Theetge will start on the pole of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 200-lap event after winning the first qualifying heat. Joey Polewarczyk Jr. won the second qualifying heat and will start on the outside pole.
St-Hyancinthe, QC's Pierre Hébert won the 25-lap Rev-Star SpeedSTR feature, holding off a hard-charging Doug Roses in the final laps. Francis Méthot, Marc-André Levesque, and Richie Tobias completed the top-five.
The ACT International 500 at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway continues on Sunday, July 19. The day will begin at 1:00pm with the PASS Super Late Model 200-lap, $10,000 to win event. After the Rev-Star Slingshots take to the track, the ACT Late Models will complete the doubleheader with their own 200-lap, $10,000-to-win feature. General adult admission is $35.

LOUDON, N.H. (July 17, 2015) – William Byron turned in a dominant performance Friday in victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Byron, a Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender from Charlotte, North Carolina, won from the pole to take the United Site Services 70 checkered flag at the "Magic Mile" in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East action.
It was his fourth victory in just eight K&N Pro Series East starts.
The 17-year-old had forged a lead of more than six seconds when the first caution of the race came out on Lap 50. A second and final yellow came out shortly thereafter to setup a 10-lap dash to the finish. Although Scott Heckert got the jump on Byron on the restarts, he was easily able to retake control in both instances.
Byron was followed across the finish line by Heckert, Kaz Grala, Nick Drake and Austin Hill. Spencer Davis, Gray Gaulding, J.J. Haley, Eddie MacDonald and Rico Abreu rounded out the top 10.
Byron's win extended his lead in the championship standings to 29 points over Hill.
The United Site Services 70 will premiere on NBCSN on July 23 at 7 p.m.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to action July 31 with a combination race with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Iowa Speedway.

Parti 2ème à côté de son frère Mario #22C sur la pôle, il attaque la première place et laisse son frangin deuxième. Mario y restera jusqu'à une crevaison au 32ème tour. Steve Bernard #54 qui organisait son annuelle soirée Pneu Robert Bernard, part 9èmeet se bat pour la 5ème place dès le troisième tour. Bernard dépasse le fils #73jr puis le père Boisvert #73 pour finalement atteindre la troisième place au 28ème tour. Le ONE parti 7ème se taille une place dans le top 5 à la mi-course. À la relance qui suit le départ de Mario, Hébert #ONE passe par l'extérieur Bernard pour la deuxième place. Il s'en suivra une ultime tentative pour la victoire du ONE avec un chassé-croisé dans le dernier tournant auquel Gino a résisté avec brio faisant lever de leur siège les spectateurs. Cependant, suite aux inspections techniques, Gino Clair est disqualifié de la première finale. Steve Bernier #25*, le meneur dans les points, part 11ème. La pluie a écourté cette course non moins enlevante du tour 1 au tour final 29. Dominic Dufault #63 parti premier mènera tous les tours. François Bernier #49* parti 5èmeconnaît un mauvais début de course puis remonte au top 5 par l'extérieur au 9ème tour. Au tour suivant, il passe 4èmedevant le 21 de Yan Bussière en bas de piste. Bussière était parti 4ème, il parvient 3ème puis recule et après quelques explorations dépasse par l'extérieur Claude Brouillard par le haut pour finir 3ème. Bernier #49, Brouillard #3 et Bussière#21 paraderont même trois de large au 21ème tour qui bénéficiera à Bernier pour la deuxième. Comme dans la première finale, Mario Clair #22C se maintiendra longtemps deuxième, mais échappera à la ligne de course au 22ème tour. Dans les deux courses, Claude Brouillard #3 gardera sagement le bas de la piste ce qui lui vaudra deux quatrièmes.

Martin Pelletier #92P sera encore dominant sur toute la ligne, menant l'épreuve de A à Z. Mathieu Desjardins #1M part 8ème. Il entre parmi les cinq premiers au 3ème tour. Desjardins passera par le bas Kaven Poliquin se tenant en haut au 9ème tour. Au tour suivant, le 1M passe toujours par en dessous du 32 de Guy Ouellette. Enfin Mathieu #1M dépassera de la même manière le 90 de Dany Gagné pour la deuxième place. Martin Hébert #43 parti 10ème suit le premier tiers de la course le 95 de Félix Murray en 8èmeplace. La relance du 19ème tour place Hébert #43 cinquième. Au tour succédant, il passe le 32 de Guy Ouellette. Ce n'est que dans le dernier tour qu'Hébert passe devant Poliquin#49 par l'intérieur. Bruno Lafontaine #19 qui a passé proche d'une victoire à bien d'autres moments cette saison ponctuée de crevaisons et de sanctions peut enfin se réjouir de l'avoir obtenue. Parti 6ème, il connaît un bon départ à l'intérieur de la piste et se bat avec le 9 à l'extérieur pour la troisième place dès le premier tour. Patrick Audet dans le D1 mène les 8 premiers tours, va trop au large des courbes 3-4 et cède la position à Marc Véronneau #8 à l'extérieur et Lafontaine #19 à l'intérieur. Lafontaine est tenaillé par Guillaume Daoust #24. Au 11ème tour, Le 19 dépasse par l'intérieur Véronneau. Puis dans le dernier virage, rien n'est encore certain, puis après le visionnement de la photo, c'est bien Lafontaine qui se mérite les honneurs. La recrue Pierre-Olivier Brault #20 parti 11ème et DanickSylvestre #9S se sont battus la 4ème place à partir du 2èmetour jusqu'à la fin de l'épreuve, pour la voir finir entre les mains de Brault.

Ce lundi 20 juillet de la puissance en quantité illimitée à l'Autodrome Drummond.
L'un des 100 tours des plus attendus de la saison arrive en ville ce lundi! Ce sont nuls autres que les surpuissants Gros-Blocs qui seront avec nous. Une motorisation qui rappellera des souvenirs aux nostalgiques, une puissance qui fera vibrer les fanatiques, et un tout qui fera fantasmer les anciens et les nouveaux amateurs présents qui découvriront le circuit peut-être pour la première fois.
Avec des pilotes du calibre de Brett Hearn ou de Danny Johnson, il n'y a presque rien à ajouter, à part peut-être le fait que de voir 900hp au travail sur une piste est un événement à ne pas manquer. Ajoutez les pilotes réguliers à cet évènement et le nombre de voitures en piste risque d'être démesuré.
En Sportsman, l'expérimenté Guy Ouellette, actuellement en tête du classement, a effectué une belle remonté lors du dernier programme et devrait continuer à donner du fil à retorde aux jeunes loups en piste. Les Dany Gagné, Mathieu Desjardins et Martin Pelletier devront faire preuve de beaucoup de persévérance pour venir à bout de déplacer le vétéran dans le classement.
Dans la série Lightning Sprint, une significative évolution a eu lieu dans le classement. Alex Therrien a chuté de quelques positions au classement général suite à quelques problèmes de motorisation. Les accidents et les ennuis mécaniques font partie des courses, mais avec des pilotes tels que Guillaume Neiderer et Jordan Poirier, le moindre écart risque d'être récupéré à leurs avantages. Une chaude lutte est à prévoir dans notre classe unique de voiture à aileron!

Earns Second Consecutive Win in 2015
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada (July 15, 2015) – Three-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 champion Scott Steckly calls the eastern edge of Ontario home, but after the week he's had racing, he may consider relocating to Canada's western region.
Piloting his No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge, Steckly emerged from a fierce, race-long battle for the lead with Andrew Ranger, Jason Hathaway, and L.P. Dumoulin – and endured two red flag periods – to capture his second consecutive win of the season in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.
Steckly won the Alberta Has Energy 300 just five days ago at Edmonton International Raceway. The victory increases his series record on ovals to 18, and is his third career win at ACMS.
Jason Hathaway was sent to the rear of the field for remaining in the pit area too long after the halfway break, but rebounded to take the lead temporarily on lap 226. Steckly regained the top spot for good on lap 239, but Hathaway held off Andrew Ranger to earn his second runner-up finish on the season.
Ranger led a total of four times during the race, but a slide on Lap 186 dropped him back in the field and he was forced to settle for a third place finish.
Mark Dilley was penalized for jumping the start on the initial green flag, moving to the rear of the field after a pass through penalty. He climbed to fifth place by the halfway break, and finished in the fourth position for the night.
Jostens Rookie of the Year contender Marc-Antoine Camirand posted his second consecutive fifth-place finish and third overall for his career.
Noel Dowler, Alex Tagliani, J.F. Dumoulin, James Van Domselaar, and Adam Dowler rounded out the top 10.
The first 100 laps set the tone for the evening, featuring a constant battle for the lead between Steckly, L.P. Dumoulin, and Ranger, with Ranger and Steckly exchanging the lead three times and Dumoulin leading 11 laps in between.
On Lap 102, Erica Thiering made hard contact on the backstretch and the cars of Joey McColm, Nick Jewell, Adam Dowler, and Matthew Scannell were collected. The red flag was displayed for over nine minutes as the track was cleared.
At the halfway break, Steckly led Ranger, L.P. Dumoulin, Gary Klutt, and Mark Dilley.
On Lap 206, the red flag was displayed again as light rain forced a temporary delay in the racing action. The race included a total of nine caution flags.
The race will be televised on TSN on July 25 at 12:30 p.m. ET and on RDS2 at 2 p.m. on Aug. 8.
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 returns to action on July 25 for the Lucas Oil National 250 at Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec.

Objet : Modifiés, Sportsman et cie ce samedi 18 juillet 2015
- RPM Speedway de Saint-Marcel. Fidèle à son habitude, la piste de St-Marcel accueille de nombreuses classes en plus des Modifiés réguliers. Les Sportsman et les Sport Compact en sont à leur deuxième visite chez nous.
Modifiés (2 x 40 tours)
David Hébert #ONE et Mario Clair #22 sont toujours en tête de cumul, mais maintenant à égalité ! Ils devancent de 32 points Sébastien Gougeon #44 qui ne doit pas regretter son choix d'être régulier chez nous cette année. Dominic Dufault #63 et Alan Therrien #39a sont quatrième et cinquième au classement. Ils sont tous deux montés sur le podium, mais pas encore sur la plus haute marche cette année.
Sportsman (2 x 25 tours)
Martin Pelletier #92 et Mathieu Desjardins #1m possédant chacun une victoire et une deuxième place jusqu'à maintenant ne sont qu'à un point l'un de l'autre au sommet. Jonathan Désilets #21 est troisième avec une sixième et une troisième obtenues au premier programme. Guy Ouellette #32 est quatrième avec deux cinquièmes.
Sport Compact (20 tours)
Patrick Renaud #00 court pour la troisième année dans la catégorie. À sa première course à vie au RPM Speedway, il a marqué une victoire. Bruno Lafontaine #19 a mené les 3 premiers tours de la première épreuve chez nous, a quitté pour une crevaison et n'a pas eu le temps de revenir sur le tour des meneurs. Espérons que la chance lui sourira cette fois-ci.
Mod Lite (20 tours)
Kevin Burke #91 est toujours premier au classement. Sa victoire chez nous à la dernière course de la série n'a que solidifié sa place. Martin Fleurent #52 avec sa seconde position le 4 juillet dernier est monté deuxième devant Richard Tessier #85 dans le cumul. La recrue Benjamin Cartier #22B est encore 5ème derrière le champion 2014 Éric Désilets.
Mini Mod (25 tours – petite piste)
Jean-François Leblanc #21 a déclassé Patrick Lapolice #68 de la première place au classement le laissant deuxième. Maxime Desrosiers #3m se maintient troisième. Danny Dingman #20 avait mené les 8 premiers tours de la finale lors du dernier programme puis était troisième lorsqu'une jante arrière s'est brisée. Il compte sur la prochaine course pour reprendre là où il a laissé.
Slingshot SR (15 tours) petite piste
Si Gabriel Lussier #23 possède toutes les victoires au RPM, son père André #71 a conquis le pavé de Vallée-Jonction le 11 juillet dernier en remportant les deux finales au menu. Amélie #63 et Manuel Messier #63M ont chacun fini deuxième. Charlyne Galarneau #16 et Martin Lizotte #39 ont complété les podiums.
Slingshot JR (10 tours) petite piste
Du côté de Vallée-Jonction samedi dernier, Donovan Lussier #00 le fils de notre promoteur Dominic, a remporté les deux finales. Alex Lizotte #39 et la recrue Christopher Cormier #95 ont fait chacun deux podiums. Lussier et Cormier ont des paternels à l'aise sur le bitume à qui ils ont fait bien plaisir.

Mike Beyore Rides a Racing Rollercoaster at Delaware Speedway

Weekly short track racing can often encompass opposite ends of the spectrum. A driver can accept the big cheque in victory lane at one event, then be faced with long hours in the shop rebuilding their equipment after the next. Friday, July 10th Mike Beyore went through every possible sensation as the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model Series made their first stop of the year at Delaware Speedway.
After a strong runner-up effort at Sunset Speedway Saturday, June 6th, the veteran campaigner known as 'The Whitby Warrior' rolled onto the track for the night's first qualifying heat with a positive. His optimism quickly changed as the #54 machine struggled to keep pace with the leaders and finished the preliminary round at the tail-end of the field. Never one to accept defeat or sit and lick his wounds, Beyore and the crew went over the car from top to bottom; back to front looking for a solution. A patient, albeit detailed approach was finalized with a gear change before the teams rolled onto the track for the second round of qualifying. The driver is always quick to praise the hard work of his crew when the chips are down.
"These guys are the best crew in the series," said a beaming Mike Beyore. "They don't just bust their butts at the shop, but at the track as well. If we needed to, I'm sure they could change everything on the car but the number if it meant getting more out of our stuff. When I slide into the seat, I'm always confident that we've done everything we can to be a contender."
For the second heat, the car did everything the driver and crew had expected, taking the qualifying win and strengthening the team's starting spot for the night's main event. Even though they were solidly in the big show, the crew still did a final round of checks on the car before taking to the track for the headline dance.
"In the feature, the car was as close to perfect as it has ever been and it looked like we were on our way to another strong finish," said the second generation racer. "We were leading and the car showed its strength on the restarts. With a couple of red flags and sitting on the track with cars running along-side me, I was overcome by fumes and started to feel ill. It was a very disappointing end to the day after everyone had worked so hard to make the car as good as it was. To be credited with a 13th place finish when we could've won is heartbreaking."
Next on the schedule for the #54 team will be a companion event with the OSCAAR Super Late Model, Modified and Midget teams Saturday, July 25th at Sauble Speedway. Then Peterborough Speedway's Chase for the Colours Touring Series Pole Qualifier – Saturday, August 1st – will help determine starting spots for the 23rd Annual Autumn Colours Classic.
