Une 9e présence à l'Autodrome St-Félicien
Après la confirmation de la présence de l'Autodrome Montmagny Speedway dans la programmation 2017 de la Série Sportsman Québec, il me fait plaisir de vous annoncer qu'une entente est aussi conclue avec l'Autodrome St-Félicien.
Dans les 10 dernières années, les pilotes de la Série Sportsman Qc se sont produits sur le triovale de ½ mille à 8 reprises. C'est donc pour une neuvième saison que la Série sera présente au complexe de sports motorisés de Saint-Félicien.
Avec une programmation diversifiée, les propriétaires Chantales Desrosiers, Yves Pelchat et Éric Bouchard désiraient poursuivre l'entente avec la Série Sportsman Qcau grand plaisir de son président, André Poulin.
La prochaine étape demeure la finalité du calendrier. M. André Poulin, promoteur est présentement en négociation ou à l'écoute de 3 promoteurs de pistes différents intéressés à produire une ou plusieurs courses afin de compléter le calendrier de la saison 2017 de la Série Sportsman Québec et Mini Sportsman. Une ou plusieurs de ces autodromes s'ajouteront dans le but de compléter le calendrier incluant les programmes prévus à l'Autodrome Montmagny et l'Autodrome St-Félicien. Nous sommes confiants que ce calendrier sera répondre à vos attentes.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 20, 2016) – History has been made.
Jimmie Johnson captured his record-tying seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship with a stirring victory Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, tying NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt atop the all-time list.
Sunday's win was Johnson's 80th career victory.
To win the 2016 championship, the driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet outdueled the other Championship 4 drivers Joey Logano (fourth), Kyle Busch (sixth) and Carl Edwards (34th) at Homestead.
It was a year of sevens for Johnson, who took over sole possession of seventh place on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series all-time wins list after his win at Auto Club Speedway earlier this season. His wins at Atlanta and Auto Club catapulted him into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
Johnson breezed through the first round of the Chase, logging his two highest laps led totals of the season to that point at Chicagoland and Dover. When the Round of 12 rolled around, he added his all-time track-record eighth win at Charlotte, leading a race-high 155 laps on the way to a Round of 8 berth. Johnson was the first to lock up a spot in the Championship 4, winning at Martinsville Speedway for the ninth time.
At the age of 41, Johnson becomes the youngest seven-time champion. Petty was 42 when he captured his seventh title in 1979; Earnhardt was 43 in 1994.
All seven of Johnson's championships were won under team owner Rick Hendrick and with crew chief Chad Knaus.
Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, captured his record-extending 12th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship. Along with Johnson's seven titles, Hendrick has won championships with Jeff Gordon (four) and Terry Labonte (one).
Knaus cemented his legacy as one of the top crew chiefs in NASCAR history with his seventh title, one shy of the all-time record held by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Inman.

Daniel Suárez Wins 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship
Becomes First Latin American And Drive For Diversity Graduate To
Capture NASCAR National Series Title
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2016) – It's been a rapid rise for Daniel Suárez, who captured the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series championship Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway by winning the Ford EcoBoost 300 in only his second full-time season of NASCAR national series racing. The driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota is the first Latin American, as well as the first graduate of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program operated by Rev Racing, to win a NASCAR national series title.
To take home the crown in "The Series Where Names Are Made," Suárez, 24, outlasted his Championship 4 competitors Elliott Sadler (third), Justin Allgaier (sixth) and Erik Jones (ninth).
It was a year of firsts for Suárez, who burst onto the NASCAR XFINITY Series scene last season by earning its Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award and finishing fifth in the championship standings. In his sophomore campaign, Suárez became the first Mexico-born driver to win a NASCAR national series race (June at Michigan) and to lead the points standings in a NASCAR national series.
The Monterrey, Mexico, native dazzled from the outset of the season, racking up four top-five and nine top-10 finishes in his first 10 contests. Suárez led the points standings following 14 separate races in the regular season and made his way into the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase with his win at Michigan.
Once the Chase started, Suárez upped his performance to another level. He breezed through the Round of 12 with a win at Dover, sandwiched between a runner-up result at Kentucky and a third-place finish at Charlotte. Then, Suárez registered finishes of third (Kansas), fifth (Texas) and fifth (Phoenix) to set up his championship-clinching victory at Homestead.
Suárez is the third member of the NASCAR Next program to win a NASCAR national series championship (Erik Jones, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, 2015; Chase Elliott, NASCAR XFINITY Series, 2014).
Also on Saturday, Erik Jones won the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, a season after accomplishing the feat in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Johnny Sauter Wins 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship
Captures First Title In Eighth Season Of Competition
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (Nov. 18, 2016) – After eight full-time seasons of racing in the rough-and-tumble circuit, Johnny Sauter earned his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Sauter finished third on Friday night, outdueling fellow Championship 4 competitors Matt Crafton (seventh), Christopher Bell (eighth) and Timothy Peters (ninth) at the South Florida track.
This season, Sauter matched his career high in wins with three (2013) and set a personal best in
single-season top 10s with 19. Sauter's 13 career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victories tie him for 11th most all-time in series history.
The driver of the No. 21 GMS Racing Chevrolet started his 2016 campaign with a bang – capturing his second career win at Daytona International Speedway and becoming the first driver to clinch a berth in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase.
Once in the Chase, Sauter breezed through the Round of 8 with three consecutive top 10s. The veteran stole the show in the Round of 6, winning back-to-back races at Martinsville Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway and following those up with a runner-up at Phoenix International Raceway to set the stage for his championship-clinching performance at Homestead.
Sauter's previous-best championship finish was a runner-up in 2011 with ThorSport Racing.
Also on Friday, William Byron won his seventh race of the season, capturing the series owner championship for the No. 9 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.
Byron also was named the winner of the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award. Along with his seven victories, Byron tallied 11 top fives and 16 top 10s.

En effet, la Série aura la chance de se produire à plusieurs reprises sur le tracé de Montmagny. Les détails sur les programmes tels que le nombre de tours ainsi que les dates vous seront annoncés ultérieurement.
Nous sommes très fiers d'assurer ainsi la continuité et le partenariat avec l'Autodrome Montmagny qui depuis quelques années travaille avec acharnement afin d'offrir un tracé de qualité ainsi que des infrastructures rénovées.
De plus, nos jeunes pilotes de la Série Mini Sportsman seront présents aux même dates que les pilotes Sportsman Qc.

Ontario Modifieds Series Hands Out the Hardware for its 2016 Season

The Harmony Creek Golf Centre on the outskirts of Oshawa was the setting – Saturday, November 12th – as the drivers and teams of the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – gathered to celebrate another successful season of exciting open wheeled action.
The evening got underway with Richard Warnes addressing the crowd and thanking OMRS backers – including long-time series title sponsor Torque Builders Inc, Borque Transmission and Complete Mechanical – for their support. Warnes – who along with Randy Hollingsworth and Bill Pickford make-up the popular tour's team of officials – reaffirmed the mandate of providing an affordable, competitive series for racers, by racers. To a round of applause by those in attendance, he also confirmed that talks were underway to return to Peterborough, Flamboro and Sunset Speedways in 2017.
Starting with Brad Stevenson and continuing through to season champion John Baker Jr., the top dozen point finishers for the year were brought forward to collect their accolades and point-fund payout. Individual awards were presented to Stu Robinson Jr., as the top first year runner in the division, while #46 ride – shared between Ryan Babin and Christopher Mulders – was named the most improved team. A special presentation was also made to Donna Brown, whose hard work behind the scenes and at the track keeps the series rolling throughout the year.
The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series has long considered itself as a development series for new racers and a few drivers from other divisions – including the 4Fun and Thunder Car classes at Peterborough Speedway and the go kart ranks – have made the transition to the popular open-wheeled machines over the years. For the 2017 campaign, several new teams are expected to compete in at least a limited role. At the award's banquet, Connor James – who ran a partial schedule this year – was welcomed to the fold, along with Isaac Belyea who will make the step from the Kawartha Kart Club. Each driver – along with a handful of others – participated in the annual 'Test a Mod' day at Peterborough Speedway and will likely compete for the 2017 Rookie of the Year award.
OMRS will host a series meeting in the coming weeks to discuss rules, technical changes and other events as they pertain to the 2017 schedule. A date, time and agenda will be announced on the series' Facebook group.

Alex Labbé a Brilliant 23rd in NASCAR Xfinity Race in Phoenix
Phoenix (AZ), November 13, 2016 – Alex Labbé finished 23rd in his first NASCAR Xfinity race, at the Phoenix International raceway, aboard his GoFas Racing Can-AM/Kappa/Cyclop Gear/Équipement Larue Camaro. Alex had prepared extensively for his first start in the Xfinity Series, using his track simulator extensively to shorten his learning time on track, and it paid off.
Things worked out well, as Alex told us after the second practise session on Friday that he was comfortable with the racing line after only five or six laps. During the race, he managed to avoid two major incidents that would have ruined his race. King Autosport and Crew Chief Mario Gosselin had prepared a car that allowed Labbé to showcase his talent in no uncertain fashion.
After the second Friday session, Alex had told us that "I got the hang of the first corner pretty rapidly, but the last corner is much quicker and it took a few more laps to get quick enough to find some weaknesses in the car and work with Mario (Gosselin) to make the car better and quicker.
In the second Friday practice session, Alex got more comfortable in the car and started to push harder. He added that "The car was behaving really well towards the end of practice, so we decided to slap on four new tires and run some "qualifying" laps. I ended up 26th quickest on Friday, which made everyone on the team and all the partners who had made the trek down here very happy. I know that everyone will be quicker for (Saturday) qualifying, and we will analyze today's results to make our car quicker for qualifying."
The Xfinity Series qualifying rules do not allow teams to change settings on the car during the session. As Alex related, "The car was tight (Pushing or under steering) in qualifying, which cost me a few tenths of a second." This turned out to be a blessing as the settings turned to be just right for the cooler temperatures when the race started in the late afternoon.
Starting in 33rd position for the 200-lap race, Labbé had a miraculous avoidance on the first restart early in the race, then worked his way to 28th or 29th place, where he remained for the middle portion of the race. After another very close call when an incident blocked the track with 50 laps to go, Alex used the car's speed and other driver's ill luck to drive up to 23rdposition, where he finished, and without a mark on the car!
After the race, a calm and collected Labbé confirmed that "The car was good at the start so I could move up quickly. We had to correct some under steer during pit stops as the race went on, and ended up for the last run to the finish with the best combination of tires and settings. The car was quick and I managed to pass a few guys and end up 23rd at the flag. The car was great and it was fun to be racing with really good drivers. I want to thank everyone who made this possible, and can't wait for my next Xfinity race."

Phoenix (AZ), le 13 novembre 2016 – Alex Labbé a terminé 23e en série NASCAR Xfinity à bord d'une Camaro GoFas Racing Can-AM/Kappa/Cyclop Gear/Équipement Larue. Il s'agissait de sa première course dans cette série du second échelon chez NASCAR, juste en deçà de la série Sprint.
Au fil des 200 tours de la course courue samedi en fin de journée, le pilote de Saint-Albert a su ménager sa mécanique et éviter deux gros incidents qui l'auraient sorti de la course. Toute l'équipe technique de King Autosport, menée par Mario Gosselin, a su donner à Alex une voiture qui lui a permis d'étaler son talent de façon impressionnante.
Alex Labbé avait bien préparé sa course sur simulateur avant cette première visite au Phoenix International Raceway pour sa première course en série NASCAR Xfinity. Il nous confiait après la seconde séance d'essais du vendredi qu'« Après 5 ou 6 tours de piste, je commençais à me sentir moyennement à l'aise. Le premier virage ne me donnait pas de problème, mais le dernier virage est beaucoup plus rapide. J'ai du bâtir ma confiance pour approcher la limite, avant de pouvoir travailler avec Mario pour améliorer la voiture. »
Plus confortable en seconde séance, Alex attaquait plus fort, ajoutant que « Je me sentais bien en contrôle, tellement que nous avons monté un jeu de pneus neufs pour simuler une qualification en fin de session. Mon 26e chrono pour ces essais a bien satisfait toute l'équipe et mes partenaires de chez Can-AM, Kappa et Cyclop Gear, Les Équipement Larue, les équipiers de King Autosport, ma famille et mes amis. Je sais que les autres pilotes vont tous rouler plus vite pour la qualification de demain (samedi), et nous allons analyser notre journée de vendredi afin d'aller plus vite en qualification nous aussi ! »
Le format de la qualification en série Xfinity ne permet pas de changer les réglages sur la voiture durant la session, ce qui a un peu handicapé Labbé : « La voiture était un tantinet sous-vireuse lors de la qualification, ce qui m'as coûté un ou deux dixièmes de seconde. Par contre, les réglages étaient les bons pour la course, tenue en fin de journée alors qu'il fait plus froid, ce qui demeure plus important que la position sur la grille de départ sur une longue course » d'ajouter le pilote de Saint-Albert près de Drummondville.
Parti de la 33e place pour les 200 tours, Alex a su éviter un accident dès la première relance tôt dans la course, remontant jusqu'à la 28 ou 29eplace et y restant pendant le milieu de la course. Après avoir encore sauvé les meubles lors d'un incident qui a bloqué la piste à quelque 50 tours de la fin, Alex a alors doublé quelques concurrents et profité de la vitesse de sa voiture et des problèmes d'autres pilotes pour grimper jusqu'à une 23e place plus que méritoire et y rester jusqu'à la fin de la course, qu'il termina sans la moindre bosse sur la voiture.
Démontrant son calme habituel après la course, Alex nous a confirmé que : « La voiture était bonne en début de course, ce qui a aidé à bien me placer en situation de course et à remonter le peloton devant moi rapidement. Nous avons corrigé un léger sous-virage lors des arrêts et terminé la couse avec ma meilleure combinaison de pneus et réglages, ce qui nous a permis d'enregistrer nos meilleurs chronos et de terminer en beauté. J'étais bien à l'aise dans la voiture et j'ai apprécié rouler avec les bons pilotes autour de moi en piste. Merci à tout le monde et vivement ma prochaine course Xfinity. »
