PLATTSBURGH – It's been a long and aggravating process trying to beat Mother Nature for our initial track preparation. Progress is being made but it is a bit slower than anticipated. 
                The issue lies beneath the upper clay surface. The bottom bed of the clay on the race track needed to be thoroughly dried and with the number of rainy days in the last few weeks, it has been difficult to allow that to happen.
We needed to open the track up and turn over the clay to help allow it to dry. Just this past weekend we were able to take steps towards finalizing this process and begin to pack it into place. Bruce Richards spent Thursday through Sunday completing these tasks. Without following this process, we would be running into issues with the clay peeling, moving and shifting underneath. In total, the track has had over 210 man hours and over $1,000 in fuel for this initial setup process this weekend alone.
With rain today and rain expected tomorrow, it is not looking good for a practice Wednesday night, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. 
We ask that you please be patient with the process and be assured that we are headed in the right direction. We must ensure that we have a safe race track first and foremost. I am not one that cancels things early, but it's part of the business, sometimes you have to take the hits.

READY TO KICK OPEN THEIR DOORS THIS SATURDAY

 

            Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group is anxiously awaiting their season opener on Saturday, May 6th. The exciting day will feature their Annual Car Show that will be held on the track from 10am until 1pm. All divisions are welcome including the North Country Ford Late Models, the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, the Caron Auto Repair and Welding Street Stocks, the AB Excavating Daredevils, White Mountains Community College Cyclones, the Twisted Tea Pure Stocks and the Moms Angels.

 

            Following the car show practice will be held for all divisions as they will alternate throughout the afternoon. The car show and the grandstands will offer free admission and at 4pm the grandstands will be emptied and the front gates will be opened up to purchase race day tickets.

 

            The Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman will headline the opening night card as they will keep fans on the edge of their seats. The exciting news for the Tiger Sportsman is that they once again will be able to have free racing tires, and are looking at a huge point fund for the 2017 season. Joining them will be the Caron Auto Repair and Welding Street Stocks. These mighty four cylinder racers will be out in force looking towards having the chance to unseat 2016 champion, Bunker Hodgdon. We welcome Chris Caron and his business as a new sponsor of the division. The always exciting AB Excavating Daredevil Youth Racers will see action and several new faces will be entering the class as several racers from last year have moved up the ladder this season. The card will also feature a couple new divisions including the White Mountains Community College Cyclones, and the MOMS, Motorcycles of Lancaster Lady Angels, (formerly FB Spaulding). The North Country Ford Late Models have the night off, but will highlight the card on Saturday, May13th at the NAPA Spectacular.

 

            There will be lots of excitement and fun throughout the night, and the season as one of the Tracks all time favorite announcers, Dick Therrien will return to the microphone at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group. His high energy will entertain the youngsters, teens, middle age fans and seniors alike.

Its been said there is only one chance to make a first impression. During the kick-off event for the 50th Anniversary Season – Saturday, April 29th at Brighton Speedway – Picton, Ontario's Adam Turner impressed a capacity crowd with his performance in the track's Pro Late Model division. Less than a couple of weeks after a live television appearance to promote his racing program, the 34 year-old, second-generation speedster scored a qualifying heat win and the main event checkered flag to open the 2017 schedule.

 

"Every driver hopes for a strong start to the year and I'm thrilled we were able to have such a solid effort to get things rolling," said the likeable father of 3. "Our group put in some long hours during the off-season to get the car ready and getting to victory lane this early is the result of a total team effort. The hard work and late nights paid-off. There's a very competitive field out there, but I hope we can keep-up the same momentum throughout the entire schedule."

 

With experience in a variety of different racing divisions, including Street Stock, as well as DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified and 358 Mods, Turner is looking to improve on the performance that saw him finish 7th in track points during the 2014 and 2015 seasons and 4th in 2016. The happy-go-lucky racer has also been a fixture on the Go Nuclear Late Model travelling series since 2013.

 

"This isn't Daytona or Indy," Adam Turner said, with his patented chuckle. "I work just as hard to get to the winner's circle as anyone else, but I wouldn't keep coming back every week if I wasn't having fun. I've met some great people over the years and made a lot of friends. I like to travel, but racing about a half an hour from my front door has its advantages. For the most part, we all get along and help each other in the pits. But when the green flag waves, its every man for himself."

Two of the Most Challenging Schedules in the Motorsports Industry

Concord, NC—April 27, 2017— The DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals 2017 schedule promises a summer of hot action on the track. The tours' schedules mirror each other for all but one race during their 32 consecutive days on the road. The two touring Series embark on one of the most gruesome schedules in the motorsports industry as they will travel across eight-states-including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Michigan, and Ohio— in four-and-a-half weeks with back-to-back racing nearly every night. The Late Model Series will take a break from racing only three times in 32 days, and the Modifieds will take four.

Every year the Series' swing through June and July proves to be mentally and physically trying on drivers and their teams, preserving through their passion and dedication to the sport. The 2017 DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will kick off at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IL on June 14.

DIRTcar Summer Nationals

The 2017 DIRTcar Summer Nationals season marks a major milestone for the tour as it hits its 30th consecutive year in the running. The best Late Model drivers in the country have graced the Summer Nationals stage over the past three decades including six-time Summer Nationals Champion Billy Moyer, four-time Champion Shannon Babb, three-time Champion Dennis Erb Jr., and two-time champions and father-son duo Bob and Bobby Pierce.

The 2017 schedule boasts 29 races and is broken down into four weeks: Tri State Week, Independence Week, Midwest Week and Champions Week. Each week a new champion will be named based on a weekly points system. At the conclusion of the tour, one overall Summer Nationals Champion will be crowned based on the overall points accumulated. The Summer Nationals Championship will take place at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, OH on July 14-15.

Additionally, the DIRTcar Summer Nationals will cross paths with The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series in the 2017 season. The Series' collide at Terre Haute Action Track on June 30 and at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on July 1.

 

Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals

The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will have 28 races in 32 consecutive days before having two weeks to prepare for the championship, which will take place at Fairbury American Legion Speedway with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series on July 28-29.

The Modified Nationals Champion is calculated by the top eight finishes for each driver. The driver who finishes the highest within those eight races gets crowned Champion and well-deserved bragging rights. Last year young-gun Nick Hoffman overtook the title from four-time Modified Nationals Champion Mike Harrison, as well as 353 other drivers who entered the tour for at least one race. Harrison remains the only driver in Modified Nationals history that has gathered eight wins equaling a perfect score in the championship points standings.

Honk Kong, 24 avril 2017 -L'équipe Craft-Bamboo Racing est fière d'annoncer que le Canadien Alex Tagliani et l'Australien Greg Taylor feront équipe lors de la saison inaugurale de la série FRD LMP3 qui débutera en Chine au mois de mai. Tagliani et Taylor, qui formeront l'un des duos les plus expérimentés du peloton, auront la tâche de mener la Ligier JS P3 numéro 20 à la victoire. Tagliani compte plus de 200 courses professionnelles nord-américaines à son actif dont la majorité en série monoplace CART/Champ Car et Indy Car. Son coéquipier Taylor est un champion de série GT qui a connu ses plus grands succès dans le championnat GT d'Australie. Avec son nouveau coéquipier, il vise maintenant le titre de la série asiatique FRD LMP3.


Tagliani course professionnellement depuis plus de deux décennies dans des séries prestigieuses très compétitives en Amérique du Nord. Il a participé à huit épreuves du Indy 500, décrochant la position de tête en 2011 : un des faits saillants de sa carrière. En plus de disputer le championnat LMP3 asiatique, le pilote originaire de Lachenaie au Québec prendra également part à l'intégralité des courses de la série NASCAR Pinty's en 2017. L'an dernier, il a connu sa meilleure saison dans cette série en terminant au troisième rang. Tagliani a également participé au cours des dernières saisons à d'autres épreuves NASCAR dans la série de camionnettes et en série Xfinity pour l'équipe Penske où il a récolté la position de tête l'an dernier à Road America. Pilote polyvalent, Tagliani ne s'est pas contenté de courir en monoplace et en stock-car. Il a également fait ses premiers pas en prototype en 2014 dans le championnat IMSA United Sport Car dans la catégorie Le Mans Challenge Prototype dans une voiture similaire à la Ligier qu'il pilotera en FRD LMP3. Comme pilote, Tagliani est le type qui s'adapte à tous les volants. Son expérience de course, que ce soit en monoplace, GT, stock-car, prototype et courses d'endurance, fait de lui l'un des pilotes de pointe du peloton et l'un des plus expérimentés au niveau technique.


Greg Taylor est un pilote performant qui a laissé sa marque en Australie dans la catégorie GT, et plus récemment en Asie dans la Coupe de Chine sur une Audi R8 LMS. Après avoir fait ses classes durant plusieurs saisons dans le championnat néo-zélandais Porsche Bridgestone, Taylor a poursuivi sa carrière en Australie en 2014 en Coupe Porsche Carrera. L'année suivante, il a remporté le titre des pilotes dans le championnat GT d'Australie. En 2016, Taylor a impressionné à ses débuts en prototype, menant sa Ligier JS P3 à la victoire en catégorie LMP3 lors des 12 Heures Gulf d'Abou Dhabi. Au cours de la même saison, il a impressionné en remportant la catégorie AM lors des 12 Heures de Bathurst (Australie), terminant sixième au classement général au volant d'une Audi R8 LMS GT3. Taylor a poursuivi sur sa lancée en terminant deuxième au championnat GT d'Australie. Pour 2017, il se joint à l'équipe Craft-Bamboo Racing pour la saison inaugurale de la série FRD LMP3 avec son coéquipier Alex Tagliani avec un but très précis. Avec son expérience au volant d'une Ligier, le champion GT sera en mesure d'être rapidement compétitif afin de permettre à la Ligier JS P3 Craft-Bamboo no 20 d'accéder à la plus haute marche du podium.


Le titre de champion 2017 en série FRD LMP3 ouvrira à Craft-Bamboo Racing le chemin à une participation future aux 24 Heures du Mans et l'unique but de l'équipe est de remporter ce championnat des pilotes LMP3 afin d'accéder sans frais d'abord à la série Asian Le Mans dans la catégorie prototype LMP2. Après avoir remporté le titre LMP2 Asie, l'équipe se verrait attribuer un laissez-passer pour participer à la plus grande épreuve d'endurance automobile de la planète, les 24 Heures du Mans. Craft-Bamboo Racing vise un premier retour au circuit de la Sarthe depuis leur dernière participation au Championnat du monde d'endurance FIA en 2014. L'équipe diffusera les détails sur les pilotes vedettes de la seconde LMP3 dans les prochaines semaines.

Je suis marié à une Australienne et mon nouveau coéquipier (Greg Taylor) est Australien. Je n'aurai donc aucun problème à le comprendre. Ça va être un plaisir de partager la Ligier LMP3 avec lui. Tout le monde sait que je n'ai que de bonnes choses à dire sur la Ligier. Piloter un tel prototype sur des circuits qui s'annoncent très intéressants avec une l'équipe Craft-Bamboo Racing qui ne vise que la victoire est tout à fait tripant. J'ai hâte au début de la saison.


« En plus de découvrir l'Asie, j'aurai la chance de piloter pour une équipe professionnelle qui va nous fournir une voiture et du matériel de première classe, ce qui n'est pas toujours évident en course automobile. Ce sont aussi les pistes et le type de voitures qui ont attiré mon attention lorsque nous avons établi les premiers contacts. Les dates proposées au calendrier ont aussi été très importantes pour moi. Tout cela réuni, je n'ai pas hésité longtemps avant de m'embarquer. NAPLES, ME (April 27) – Moving from the Fall to its new date now in April, one of New England's biggest race weekends is in store for competitors and race fans alike.  The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds head to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME, once again this Saturday afternoon to bring together some of the best drivers from the Northeast and Canada.  Adding to the importance of this big day of racing, the Beech Ridge 300 will be the fifth race of the PASS National Championship season and the final chance to accrue important points prior to the next national event, the 44th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in August.
For Jay, ME's, Dave Farrington, Jr., Beech Ridge Motor Speedway holds a special place in his heart.  The Kulwicki Driver Development Program graduate captured the track championship at Beech Ridge in 2014.  Now, sitting fifth in the PASS National Championship race, Farrington believes he has his best chance yet to capture his first PASS win and make up ground in the title chase.
 "I love the track there, we've always had a good car at Beech Ridge, from 2013 up through last year," says Farrington.  "Obviously, we were the 2014 champion without winning a race and that means something for us, we won two races there last year and probably should have won the PASS 300 a couple of years ago.  We definitely feel every time we go there that we've got a chance to win."
This year is set to be the busiest yet in Farrington's young career.  In addition to racing in PASS North for his family-owned team, Farrington has joined with the Woodman Racing team to also compete for the PASS National Championship and PASS South title.  While busy, Farrington is having fun competing against the best in Super Late Model racing.
"It's a wonderful opportunity and I can't thank Dicky and Becky [Woodman] for their help," says Farrington.  "It feels good to be in April and have raced as many times as we have.  I love the sport of racing and would do it every weekend if I could.  Being from Maine it's a little tough, but having this opportunity has given us the chance to add another 10-12 races down south."
With just two events completed in the 2017 PASS North Super Late Model schedule, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway could play a very interesting role in the title chase.  Former Oxford 250 winners, Glen Luce and Ben Rowe, lead the standings, with just 31 points separating the top 8 drivers.  Defending PASS North champion, DJ Shaw was the winner at Beech Ridge last spring, while six-time champion Johnny Clark captured the checkered flag in the 2015 Beech Ridge 300.  After nearly winning his third Oxford 250 last August, Morill, ME's, Travis Benjamin, returns to Beech Ridge looking to make up ground in the championship fight and seeking another win at the 1/3 mile speedway.
A strong field is expected this Saturday afternoon for the first major Super Late Model event of the season in New Engalnd.  In addition to the strong contenders listed above, they will be joined by the last two Beech Ridge track champions, Curtis Gerry and Reid Lanpher, the winner last weekend at Oxford, plus Derek Griffith, Mike Hopkins, Travis Stearns, Mike Rowe, Derek Ramstrom, Nick Sweet, Tracy Gordon, Joey Doiron, Garrett Hall, and Joey Polewarcyzk.  Lonnie Sommerville makes his return to PASS racing, along with fellow Canadian and PASS National Championship contender, Sarah Cornett-Ching.
All the action gets under way on Friday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway with rotating practice for all competing divisions from 2-6 PM.  On Saturday, rotating practice will begin at 11 AM, with heat races beginning at 3 PM, followed by features for the PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks and PASS Super Late Models.  The complete weekend schedule can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com

L'autodrome Chaudière s'est entretenu avec Patrick Hamel (#51) de la série NASCAR Late Model Freightliner Québec/Western Star Lévis


Avec la saison 2017 sur le circuit de l'autodrome Chaudière qui approche à grands pas. L'autodrome profite de l'occasion pour vous présenter quelques coureurs qui se seront en piste à Vallée-Jonction cet été.
 
Autodrome Chaudière (AC). Parle-moi de ton cheminement en course automobile ?

Patrick Hamel (PH). J'ai débuté à l'âge de 14 ans en classe Amateur avec une Firebird '77. Par la suite, j'ai évolué dans la série Sportsman.  En 2005, j'ai été champion inter-piste Sanair - Ste-Croix et en 2006, j'ai terminé 2e dans la série ProCam. Champion dans la série Super Sportsman en 2007 et en 2008, j'ai remporté le titre de recrue de l'année dans la série ACT. Depuis j'ai toujours évolué dans des voitures LMS.

AC. Quel est ton plus beau souvenir à l'Autodrome Chaudière ?

PH. Je me rappelle des gros Showdown avec les Américains. Ça l'arrivait en autobus et en Harley.

AC. Qu'apprécies-tu le plus dans l'expérience de courser à l'autodrome Chaudière à Vallée-Jonction.

PH. La piste est belle. Mais c'est surtout le fait qu'il y a toujours une bonne foule. Les estrades qui sont très près de la piste rendent le tout vraiment intéressant.

AC. As-tu un objectif particulier pour la saison ?

PH. M'amuser. Avoir du plaisir tout simplement.

AC. Pourquoi le numéro 51 ?

PH. Il n'y a pas vraiment de raison particulière, je recherchais des logos et je dessinais en même temps et c'est en dessinant que le #51 a fait son apparition.

AC. As-tu des partenaires pour la saison ?

PH. Certainement et je profite de l'occasion pour les remercier. Il s'agit de Hamel Construction qui sont avec moi depuis mes débuts et aussi Transport Jacques Auger depuis maintenant quelques années.

La pilote québécoise Valérie Chiasson en Coupe Porsche GT3 Benelux cette saison !

 

 

Le 25 avril 2017.- Première pilote féminine à atteindre une place de podium toutes-catégories au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve de Montréal (2015 en Coupe Nissan Micra) puis seule pilote féminine à disputer l'édition 2016 du Grand Prix du Canada (en Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne), Valérie Chiasson, originaire de Repentigny (Québec), va franchir une autre étape de sa carrière de pilote cette année alors qu'elle a été recrutée par l'écurie belge DVB Racing pour prendre part à des épreuves de Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux.

              

 

Valérie Chiasson, qui réside désormais au Grand Duché de Luxembourg, sera bien entendu la seule pilote féminine et de nationalité canadienne à évoluer dans cette série, qui présente des épreuves en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en France, ainsi que la finale de la saison en Espagne.

 

« Pouvoir piloter sur quelques-uns des plus beaux circuits du monde comme Spa-Francorchamps en Belgique et évoluer dans une série européenne de Coupe Porsche GT3, un style de série que je considère comme très professionnel, difficile et motivant pour les pilotes, a toujours été un objectif pour moi » confie Valérie Chiasson. Elle ajoute : « grâce à l'équipe DVB Racing, mon commanditaire allemand EVO Information Systeme et d'autres partenaires qui seront révélés ultérieurement, je vais pouvoir participer à la Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux cette saison. C'est vraiment exceptionnel ! » ajoute-t-elle.

 

Valérie Chiasson partagera le volant de la voiture du DVB Racing avec un autre pilote, qui sera officialisé par l'équipe dans les prochains jours. Chaque week-end de course étant composé de deux manches, Valérie disputera la première et son coéquipier la seconde. « C'est une formule qui me satisfait pleinement car elle me permet d'apprendre les circuits européens. 2017 est une saison de découverte pour moi en Europe, être présente sur chaque circuit, participer aux essais libres, qualifications et faire une des deux courses est l'idéal » a commenté Valérie, qui est aussi la représentante canadienne de la Commission FIA "Women in Motorsport" qui encourage la participation féminine en sport automobile.

 

Après avoir débuté en sport automobile par le karting à l'âge de 12 ans, Valérie Chiasson a ensuite participé à la Coupe Toyota au Québec, à la série ACT Québec (courses sur ovale de type NASCAR), au Championnat canadien des Voitures de Tourisme (meilleure recrue et "Top 4" pour ses débuts au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve en 2014), à la Coupe Nissan Micra ("Top 6" au championnat 2015) et à la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne l'an dernier. Elle a aussi disputé des épreuves sur prototype Stohr WF1 en 2014, récoltant trois victoires au Circuit Mont-Tremblant et montant six fois sur le podium en six courses.

 

La saison 2017 de la Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux débutera le 5 mai prochain, avec deux épreuves présentées en soutien du Championnat du monde d'Endurance (WEC), sur le circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Deux semaines plus tard, les 20 et 21 mai, c'est sur le circuit de Zandvoort aux Pays-Bas que seront présentées les troisième et quatrième manches 2017. La série fera ensuite halte au Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans (France) mi-juin, mais l'écurie DVB Racing ne prendra pas part à cet événement. Pour Valérie, il aurait de toute manière été compliqué de participer cette année à ce rendez-vous puisqu'il est prévu qu'elle dispute les deux manches de la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne en soutien du Grand Prix du Canada de Formule 1 quelques jours plus tôt.

 

Elle sera au départ de six courses (trois événements) dans la Coupe Porsche GT3 canadienne cette saison, soit le Grand Prix du Canada à Montréal, le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières en août et le week-end NASCAR de Mosport, début septembre. Ce programme dans son pays natal sera présenté en collaboration avec Total Canada et d'autres partenaires qui seront divulgués avant le GP du Canada, début juin.

 

Après l'événement montréalais, Valérie Chiasson retrouvera les circuits européens début juillet, à Zandvoort, avant de découvrir le tracé de Zolder, en Belgique, les 16 et 17 septembre. La finale de la saison 2017 aura lieu en Espagne, sur un autre circuit de Formule 1, celui de Barcelone. Ces deux dernières courses de la saison seront présentées en soutien du championnat international Blancpain GT, les 30 septembre et 1er octobre. Au total, Valérie disputera donc cinq courses dans la série.

 

La participation de Valérie Chiasson cette saison en Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux est organisée en partenariat avec DVB Racing, EVO Information Systeme et VB Energy.

DILLON MOLTZ WINS 31ST NH GOVERNOR'S CUP

 

Lee, NH – A stout 29-car field kicked off the 2017 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model Stock Car Championship scheduleSunday at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire. The race, originally scheduled for April 9th, had been postponed due to weather.

 

The 31st running of the Annual New Hampshire Governor's Cup, a 150-lap race, was won by Waterford, CT driver Dillon Moltz.  He was joined on the podium by a pair of Quebec drivers: Alex Labbé of Victoriaville and Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville.  The defending race winner, Scott Payea (Colchester, VT) and 2017 ACT Rookie contender Jason Corliss (Barre, VT), rounded out the top-5.

 

Earlier in the day qualifying heat races were won by Josh Masterson, Rowland Robinson Jr., and Dillon Moltz, while consi winners were Bobby Therrien and Alex Labbé.

 

Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert and Jonathan Bouvrette lined up on the front row for the 150-lap event, with Hebert edging Bouvrette at the start for the first 11 circuits.  Bouvrette charged back and claimed the top spot on lap 12, leading the field until eventual winner Moltz assumed the top spot on lap 56.  Despite two restarts at lap 98 for minor incidents, Moltz set a blistering pace that would leave only 8 competitors on the lead lap at the end of the 150-lap event.

 

Through the field, several two and three car battles resulted in needle-threading exchanges around lapped competitors including a duel between Bouvrette and fellow countryman Alex Labbé.  With 15 laps to go, Labbé overcame Bouvrette and the two crossed the stripe second and third, respectively..

 

For the final 50 laps, Vermonters Scott Payea and Jason Corliss battled with Quebec's Donald Theetge,   Eventually,  Payea, who started 17th, used a lapped car to pin and overtake both of them.  Still with a very fast car, he started to chase down eventual third place finisher Jonathan Bouvrette., but ran out of time and finished fourth.

 

With two laps to go, Corliss regained fifth place from Donald Theetge, who finished an impressive sixth place, after starting deep in the field in the 21st starting position, the veteran Theege's best finish at the Lee speedplant.

 

The top-10 was rounded out by Spencer Morse, Eddie MacDonald, Rich Dubeau and Bobby Therrien, with 26 of 29 cars running when the checkered flag flew.

 

With his win, Moltz becomes the 14th different winner of the classic in an ACT Late Model.

 

Earlier in the day, during the pre-race pit meeting with ACT officials, crews and drivers, the Série ACT Tom Curley Cup was presented to Claude Leclerc (Lanoraie, QC) who was kicking off his 40th stock car racing season with the Lee event.  Leclerc is the third recipient of the award, presented annually to those who have an impact on stock car racing in Quebec.

 

The American Canadian Tour returns to Thunder Road this Sunday, April 30, for the 19th Merchant's Bank 150, preceded on Saturday by the Annual Downtown Barre Car Show from 9am to noon, culminating in the parade of race cars from downtown to the Nation's Site of Excitement on Quarry Hill.  Post time for Sunday's event is 1:00pm.  For more information, contactmedia@acttour.com or call 802-244-6963 Ext. 5.

Sanction withdrawn from Thaw Brawl, Penalties Issued

Officials from DIRTcar Racing, Mars, DIRTcar Series, and American Late Model Series have withdrawn the event sanction from the March 24, 2017 Thaw Brawl at La Salle Speedway.

The Friday races of the multi series special event were completed, however, track management allowed a DIRTcar suspended race team to participate in defiance of the sanctioning bodies warning.

Despite the loss of sanction, officials determined teams in attendance will be awarded championship points for the respective series.

In further actions, DIRTcar Racing has issued a fine and penalty to Late Model driver Josh Richards for filing a deceptive entry and an additional penalty to Best Performance for participating while under a DIRTcar Suspension.

Finally, sanction applications for La Salle Speedway will not be accepted and all DIRTcar events at the Illinois facility have been removed from the schedule.

The Summer Nationals Opening weekend two-day event on Friday and Saturday June 16 and 17 will move to an alternative facility.

LEE USA : BRILLANTE PERFORMANCE DE NOS QUÉBÉCOIS 
DILLON MOLTZ REMPORTE L'ÉPREUVE


Lee (NH, USA), le 24 avril 2017 – La première épreuve du championnat de stock-car américain, American-Canadian Tour (ACT), a été disputée hier à la piste de Lee USA Speedway au New Hampshire. C'est l'Américain Dillon Moltz de Waterford, CT qui a remporté l'épreuve de 150 tours devançant une paire de Québécois, soit Alex Labbé de Victoriaville et Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville.


Un début de saison qui promet pour Bouvrette. Il s'est élancé de la 2e position de départ et n'a pas perdu de temps à s'imposer, il a devancé le pilote du Vermont Jimmy Hebert, le détenteur de la pole, au 11e passage. Bouvrette a mené jusqu'au 55e passage, quand l'éventuel vainqueur Moltz lui a raflé la position de tête.


Avec 15 tours à faire, après une chaude lutte sur plusieurs tours, le compatriote de Bouvrette, Alex Labbé a eu le dessus sur lui et s'est emparé à son tour de la 2e place. Le duo terminera l'épreuve dans cet ordre et écrivant, en quelque sorte, une nouvelle page d'histoire du stock-car. Il faut remonter dans les années 80 pour voir deux Québécois sur un même podium lors d'une épreuve du côté américain.


La plus impressionnante remontée de la journée a été enregistrée par Donald Theetge de Boischatel. N'ayant pu profiter, bien malgré lui, d'un bon finish en course de qualification, il a pris le départ dans la finale à la 21e position. Méthodiquement, il a amorcé sa remontée jusqu'en 6e place doublant pas moins de 15 autres pilotes. Tout un exploit surtout considérant qu'il n'a pas pris part aux séances de pratiques la veille… puisqu'il était en vacances!


Dany Trépanier de Sté-Croix de Lotbinière a, quant à lui, signé une très respectable 12eposition au fil d'arrivée à sa première présence sur le circuit de 1/3 de mile qu'est Lee USA Speedway Il s'était élancé de la 9e position. 


Journée plus difficile pour le vétéran Claude Leclerc de Lanoraie, impliqué dans un incident lors de la course de qualification qui a endommagé sa voiture. Ses équipiers n'ont pu, faute de temps, lui redonner une voiture aussi bonne qu'avant l'incident. Leclerc, qui a amorcé sa 40e année de compétition en s'élançant de la 29e et dernière position de départ, a croisé le fil en 20e position. Avant l'épreuve, Leclerc s'est vu décerner le trophée Tom Curley remis annuellement à une personne ayant reflété l'image de l'ACT soit la combativité, le respect et la compétition des deux côtés de la frontière.


La recrue de Blainville, Mathieu Kingsbury à sa première participation dans une compétition pour voiture Late Model Sportsman a très bien tiré son épingle du jeu. Kingsbury qui a pris le départ de la 25e position a terminé la course au 24e rang, accumulant de la précieuse expérience en vue de sa quête au titre de recrue dans la Série ACT, la division Québécoise de l'ACT qui amorcera son championnat 2017 à l'Autodrome Montmagny le 10 juin prochain. 


Il n'est pas impossible que certaines de nos vedettes se rendent, ce dimanche 30 avril, du côté de Thunder Road International Speedbowl à Barre dans le Vermont pour une autre manche de l'ACT Tour pour rivaliser les meilleurs pilotes américains.
