Trois-Rivieres (Québec, Canada), May 10, 2017 - C'est avec engouement que WeatherTech Canada et Louis-Philippe Dumoulin annoncent la prolongation du partenariat pour deux années supplémentaires en série NASCAR Pinty's. La passion commune pour la course automobile et la relation d'affaires se sont consolidées depuis 2012 et permettent au pilote de la Dodge #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare de démontrer de nouveau son talent en piste pour les saisons 2017 et 2018.

 

C'est avec grand plaisir que WeatherTech Canada annoncent le renouvellement du partenariat avec Dumoulin Compétition. « La quête de l'excellence fait partie de Louis-Philippe et de l'équipe de course Dumoulin Compétition. Cette même quête est au cœur de notre engagement à concevoir, développer et distribuer les accessoires automobiles de qualité supérieure », partagent Tony Page et Joe Magri, copropriétaires de l'entreprise.

 

2018 marquera la septième saison complète avec notre partenaire majeur WeatherTech Canada. Il va sans dire que c'est rarissime dans le monde du sport automobile au Canada et c'est une relation de confiance gagnante-gagnante qui s'est nouée depuis le début. « Je suis privilégié d'avoir complété cinq saisons avec WeatherTech Canada et je suis conscient du partenaire de qualité exceptionnelle qui est à mes côtés pour deux années supplémentaires, ainsi que le Groupe Bellemare qui est présent depuis le début. La meilleure façon de les remercier est d'accumuler les victoires et tout faire pour gagner le championnat », partage avec enthousiasme Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

 

Les tours de piste se sont enchaînés depuis que Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a remporté le titre de recrue de l'année en 2011 et celui de Champion de la série NASCAR Canada en 2014. L'Équipe de course Dumoulin Compétition a également franchi plusieurs étapes lui permettant de préparer à l'interne ses propres bolides. D'ailleurs, l'hiver 2015-2016 a été consacrée à bâtir l'équipe, recruter du personnel, structurer la logistique et développer les connaissances des nouvelles acquisitions. Nous avons pu constater le résultat positif en récoltant quatre podiums et six top-5 (exæquo avec la quatrième position au championnat).

 

« La série NASCAR Pinty's est très compétitive et je suis emballé d'avoir l'opportunité de me battre en piste contre des pilotes et des équipes de talent en 2017 et 2018. Dès novembre 2016, nous savions qu'une entente serait signée avec WeatherTech Canada. Ayant fondé notre propre équipe préparatrice, cela nous a permis de bâtir une stratégie sécurisante à moyen terme », explique le champion 2014 de la série NASCAR Canada.

Détermination et enthousiasme étaient au rendez-vous le 3 mai dernier lors des premiers essais officiels de la série NASCAR Pinty's. « Tout au long de l'hiver, l'équipe mécanique a capitalisé sur les acquis de la saison 2016 et les essais sont concluants. Nous serons encore plus forts cette année », mentionne avec aplomb Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

22 RACING ANNOUNCES DRIVER FOR CAN AM 200 AT CTMP

 

 

 

Milverton, ON, Wednesday May 10, 2017 – 22 Racing is pleased to announce today that Christopher Bell will be behind the wheel of the No. 22 car at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the first event of the 2017 NASCAR Pinty's Series.  The talented 22-year-old Bell is in his second year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series full time competing for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) as a Toyota Racing Development driver.   Bell will make his first start in the NASCAR Pinty's Series in the Can Am 200 on May 20th & 21st.

"We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide a car for a driver of the caliber of Christopher Bell," said team owner Scott Steckly.  "I have no doubt he will be battling for the win when the checkered flag falls on Lap 51 of the Can Am 200."

Bell will be arriving at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Saturday morning after competing in the Camping World Truck series fifth event of the year on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Born December 16, 1994.  In October 2015, it was announced he would join KBM in 2016 and compete full time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. (May 10, 2017) –- NASCAR Productions took home hardware for Outstanding Social TV Experience at last night's 38th Annual Sports Emmy®Awards, marking the sport's fifth win since 2011 and first ever in this category. NASCAR's on-stage presence was amplified by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate Daniel Suárez, who was on hand to present three awards for Spanish-language achievements.

 

"100,000 Cameras: DAYTONA 500" received top honors for its innovative use of fan, team and driver-generated video to tell the story of the Great American Race. Weaving together content submitted using #100KCams, the third installment in the groundbreaking FS1 documentary series took viewers inside the 2016 DAYTONA 500, capturing the event's most compelling moments from every conceivable angle.

 

Last night's ceremony also recognized the sport's broadcast partners FOX and NBC in several categories, including FOX NASCAR in the Outstanding Sports Promotional Announcement category for its season launch "Daytona Day" campaign.

 

Presented annually by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the Sports Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in sports television coverage. Nominations were announced in 41 categories earlier this year, and winners were honored last night at Jazz at Lincoln Center's prestigious Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

PASS Releases Entry Form And Schedule For $15,000 To Win MegaMeltdown At Hickory

 

NAPLES, ME (May 9) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that Super Late Model entry forms and the complete weekend schedule for November's Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 at Hickory Motor Speedway are now available online at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  The MegaMeltdown will go green on Saturday afternoon, November 18 at 3 PM and will serve as the final race of 2017, crowning both the PASS National Champion and PASS South Super Late Model Champion. Teams can save money towards their entry with an early entry discount available until August 1.

The Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 will be bigger than ever in 2017, featuring more laps, more money, and the chance for teams to employ pit strategy.  The PASS Super Late Models will compete for 300 green flag laps, with $15,000 up for grabs for the winner and $1000 to start.  With additional lap leader bonus money, the winner could take home over $22,000. 

Teams will also have the opportunity to make live pit stops during the course of the event and will have the option to change up to six tires throughout the race.  And, similar to the Oxford 250, since caution laps will not count, teams can avoid the pressure of having to bring in "specialized" pit crews.  The Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 continues to build on PASS's rich history of racing Super Late Models in the south, which has seen this event, originally billed as the Meltdown starting in 2006, held at such tracks as South Boston Speedway, Concord Speedway, and Southern National Motorsports Park.  The more expanded MegaMeltdown joins another PASS-sanctioned event, the Oxford 250, as one of two of the highest paying short track races in the country, with combined purses of nearly $200,000.

"The Meltdown started a number of years ago and we're excited to bring this expanded version to Hickory in 2017," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "The new MegaMeltdown provides us the opportunity to have an Oxford 250-style event in the south, which will pay big money across the board and feature live pit stops.  Ever since this race was announced in January, teams started booking hotel rooms in the Hickory area.  The great success of the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory proved that the time was right to release the MegaMeltdown entry forms and is our way to show how serious we are about this big race."

ROCKY WARNER AND ROBBIE SPEED TAKE BIG SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES WIN

On a bitter cold spring evening this past Sunday April 30, the fans were treated to another exciting night of action on Wilber-Duck Chevrolet night that saw some late race fireworks and late race charges to the win. Rocky Warner made a late race pass of leader Dave Marcuccilli to win the DIRTcar Sportsman Series event.  Another last lap pass by Robbie Speed brought him another win as he took the checkered in the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series feature event.

The start of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series 30 lap main event saw pole sitter Matt Janczuk launch to the lead with Kyle Kiehn, Dave Marcuccilli, Kyle Inman, and Tyler Trump in tow.  It didn't take long for Marcuccilli to make his presence felt as he was in second on the following lap and by lap three he was the leader.  Much like the week prior, Marcuccilli was pulling away for the rest of the field, leaving Janczuk, Rocky Warner, Kiehn, and Chris Mackey to battle for the remaining top five spots.  A pair of cautions brought Marcuccilli back to the rest of the field just past the halfway point on laps 16 and 17, but again Marcuccilli was too strong and pulled away on the restarts.

The final caution on lap 23 gave the field on more shot at the leader and now second place was looking to capitalize on it. Janczuk was able to regain the runner-up spot on lap 24 but Warner regained the spot a circuit later.  Warner then set off after Marcuccilli and the duo then ran side by side for a lap and a half until Warner was able to wrestle the lead away on lap 28.  Warner would hold to score the big series win over Marcuccilli, Janczuk, a hard charging David Schilling and AJ Miller.

Rob Yetman and Pascual Payeur made up the front row of the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series 30 lap feature with Yetman jumping out to the lead at the green.  The winner from the previous week, Robbie Speed, took over the lead on lap four as he looked for his second consecutive win at the Vernon oval.  Speed was dominating the early portion of the event.  Luke Horning, after starting 11th on the grid, was into the mix as the field neared halfway as he made his way into the second spot by the halfway mark that saw Speed as the leader over Horning, Yetman, Nick Stone, and Jason Casey.

A couple of late race cautions took the 30-lap event into "overtime" with series rules calling for a green, white, and then checkered flag finish.  A wild lap 29 restart saw Horning slip into the lead to be scored the leader and as the field was going to the checkered, Horning went around in the front of the field after some contact as the cars bounced through the hole in turn four, bringing out the yellow again and setting up another two-lap dash.  After Horning's spin, Yetman was the leader with Speed right with him on the restart.  Yetman was able to hold on to the lead as the field took the white flag but as the top two exited turn four for the checkered, Speed slid up in front of Yetman to make another dramatic late race pass for the win.  Yetman crossed in second ahead of Mike Welch who made a late charge to gab the third spot.  Casey and Dan Older rounded out the top five.

Next Sunday, May 7, the 2017 season keeps on rolling with another show Gates-Cole Auto Insurance Modifieds, Broedel Energy DIRTcar Sportsman, DIRTcar Pro Stocks and Novice/Rookie Sportsman.  Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. with racing set to go at 6 p.m.

Matt Craig Powers To 3rd PASS South Win Of Season At Caraway

SOPHIA, NC (May 5) – Matt Craig edged out rookie Tanner Thorson Friday night to score his third Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win of the season in the Caraway 125.  Craig's second straight PASS South win at Caraway Speedway lengthens his point lead as he seeks to become the first driver to ever win back-to-back titles in the series' 12 year history.

            "We had to run hard the whole race, Tate [Fogleman] was really good, the 55 [Thorson] was really good, but none of these races are ever easy to win," said Craig, driving the family-owned C&C Boilers Chevrolet #54.  "I can't thank the guys enough for all the time they take to work on these cars, taking time off from work and family to be here at the track every weekend.  I don't know how far that horseshoe is up in my butt right now, but I like it."

            In qualifying, Thorson just beat out Fogleman by three, one thousandths of a second for his first quick qualifying time in PASSwith a lap of 16.620 seconds (98.556 MPH).  After the top 10 qualifiers redraw, Thorson and the other fast qualifiers would move to the bottom half of the top 10 on the grid, while 2014 PASS South champion, Tyler Church, and rookie Roy Hayes would move to the front row for the start.

            At the drop of the green flag, Church would move to the point, while Craig, Thorson, and Fogleman diced their way up through the field.  Meanwhile, Kodie Conner was dropping back, falling to the rear of the field by lap seven.  Church would continue to lead over Craig and Jordan McCallum until the caution waved for the first time for a spin by Jimmy Doyle in turn one on lap 33.

            On the restart, Craig was able to get the advantage over Church heading down the back straightaway to take the lead.  Fogleman and Thorson quickly followed suit as the trio tried to separate themselves from the rest of the field. By lap 74, Church had fallen back to fifth and was trying to hold off Hayes to stay in the top five.  Hayes made contact with Church in turn two to move by and take the position.  But, the two would again make contact entering turn three with Hayes going around to bring out the second caution of the night.

            Back under green, Craig continued to lead, but was being closely pursued by Fogleman and Thorson.  On several occasions the two would get close to Craig, but not quite enough to challenge for the lead.  Fogleman's bid for the win would end five laps shy of the finish due to a motor problem while running second.

            On the final restart, Craig took the advantage, but Thorson would apply heavy pressure, along with Conner who had rebounded to third.  Despite some contact over the final laps, Craig held on to take the win over Thorson, Conner, Dave Farrington, Jr., and Jody Measamer.  Rounding out the top ten were Church, Sarah Cornett-Ching, JP Josiasse, Hayes, and Fogleman.

Barre, VT – Longtime Thunder Road Speedbowl co-owner and promoter Thomas M. Curley passed away on Friday, May 5 due to complications from a lengthy illness. Curley was 73 years old.

 

Born May 10, 1943, Curley was involved in local and regional auto racing for most of his adult life. After spending considerable time at Thunder Road as a spectator and driver in the 1960s, he became the NASCAR Northeast regional director in 1978, and a year later created the NASCAR North Tour. He and Thunder Road founder Ken Squier then acquired the track in 1982 from former owner Tommy Kalomiris. 

 

After leaving NASCAR, Curley created the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) sanctioning body in 1986. Under Curley's leadership, both Thunder Road and ACT became household names for racers and fans throughout the Northeast, making the Barre high banks one of the most popular auto racing destinations in the region. Among his many accomplishments, he helped relaunch the famed Flying Tiger division that has competed since 1982, and created the ACT Late Model rules package used at Thunder Road and numerous other tracks.

 

Curley's stewardship was driven by the philosophy of making racing more exciting for the fans and more affordable for the racers. This commitment extended to all divisions, and his "ladder system" for weekly racing became known throughout the country. Many racers who came up through his system went on to both regional and national prominence, and he also made the track a popular destination for the nation's top racing stars.

 

Racing Promotion Monthly named Curley the North American Promoter of the Year in 2004 in recognition of his efforts. He also received the Lowes Motor Speedway National Short Track Promoter of the Year Award in 2003 and the Trackside Magazine Promoter of the Year Award in 1992. Curley was inducted into the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2009.

 

Though his health had declined in recent years, Curley continued to be a presence at Thunder Road. He and Squier had recently completed the sale of the track prior to his passing. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

For the third time in three events, weather has forced the cancellation of this weekend's American Canadian Tour event, scheduled forSunday May 7 at Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vermont.

With saturated grounds already a concern at the venue, and rain forecast throughout the area for the next several days, the event has been postponed until Saturday, May 20.

"Certainly, it's disappointing to have to reschedule events, but in the interest of our fans and competitors, this seems like a wise decision, given the weather forecast", said Darla Hartt, Vice President of ACT.   "We will look forward to our Devil's Bowl event now set for Saturday, May 20, with a 6:00 pm post time, and with 117 laps in the Spring Green feature event, we will anticipate an exciting -evening".

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway has postponed its season-opening "Spring Green" stock car racing event due to heavily saturated grounds and a forecast calling for more wet weather.  The event was to be held on Sunday, May 7, with the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on the card.  A practice session and inspection day scheduled for Saturday, May 6, has been cancelled.

The Spring Green has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 20, with a post time of 6:00 p.m., on the 1/2-mile Asphalt Track at Devil's Bowl.

Consistent rains in recent days and weeks have left the speedway property drenched, with surrounding ditches and drainage full and unable to divert any more water.  Rain showers during the day on Friday – with more predicted during the weekend – forced the postponement.

"We don't want fans and race teams to travel three or more hours and have a bad experience," Devil's Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said.  "Even if there is no rain on Sunday, our hands are tied with the wet grounds.  It's like a big sponge already, and the mud would make things miserable for everyone.  We appreciate Tom Curley and ACT working with us to reschedule the Spring Green to Saturday, May 20."

The rescheduled Spring Green on Saturday, May 20, will feature a 117-lap main event for the ACT Late Models, along with the season opening races for Devil's Bowl Speedway's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Sportsman Modified, Rosen & Berger Super Stock, and Portland Glass Mini Stock divisions.  The green flag waves at 6:00 p.m.

Devil's Bowl Speedway now turns its attention to the new season opener on Saturday, May 13, and the first-ever "Rutland County Rumble" sponsored by Down And Dirty.  Four classes of Truck & Tractor Pulls begin at12:00 noon, followed by a Demolition Derby for 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder cars at approximately 6:00 p.m.  General admission for the Rutland County Rumble is just $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for teens age 13-17, and free for kids age 12 and under; pit passes are also just $12.00 per person, age 10 and up.

Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Returns for Seventh Consecutive Year

Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Champion from Big-Block Modifieds, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modified and Pro Stocks will be crowned

For the seventh consecutive season, one driver from each of the Big-Block Modified, 358 Modified, Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock divisions will walk away as Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Champion in 2017.

In 1976 the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship program was born. The Super DIRTcar Series program was used as a qualifier series for Super DIRT Week at Syracuse. In 1989, the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship program made a shift, adding a fall series to hometrack bonus points to determine the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack title. From 2000 through 2010, the champion from the Super DIRTcar Series was also named Mr. DIRTcar.

At the start of the 2011 season the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship was separated from Super DIRTcar Series points standings in order to recognize a separate champion. Rather than being tied directly to a touring series, the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship allowed DIRTcar Racing drivers who competed at DIRTcar-sanctioned tracks to earn points towards the Mr. DIRTcar title, rewarding the champion of each of the four divisions.

Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship now recognizes local heroes who run at weekly DIRTcar-sanctioned track in the Northeast. The champion in each of the four divisions takes home between $1,000 to $6,000, depending on that division.

How It Works
A driver's best 16 finishes are recorded throughout the season, from January 1 through Labor Day Monday (September 4 this year). Drivers receive 60 points for a win, 56 points for second, and so on decreasing by two points through the field. Once a driver reaches 16 races, his worst finishes are thrown out, leaving only the best results to count towards the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship title.

Since the Big-Block Modified division of the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Championship was separated from Super DIRTcar Series points standings, there have been two winners – Brett Hearn and Matt Sheppard. Since 2011, only one time has the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack Champion been different from the Super DIRTcar Series champion. That came in 2014 when Billy Decker took home the Super DIRTcar Series Championship while Sheppard earned the Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack title.

In 2016, Sheppard scored a perfect score in the Big-Block Modified division, tallying 16 wins. In the 358 Modified division, David Hebert narrowly edged out Erick Rudolph by two points to take home the 2016 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar Hometrack title. Brad Rouse clipped Martin Pelletier by four points in the Sportsman Modified division, while Stephane Lemire topped Jocelyn Roy in DIRTcar Pro Stock action.

DIRTcar Racing is excited to announce the second annual OneDirt World Short Track Championship will return to The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 26-28, 2017. The mega-event will once again give the best weekly racers from eight different divisions across the United States and Canada the chance to shine at one of the country's premier dirt racing facilities.

The OneDirt World Short Track Championship once again runs one week before the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway on November 2-4 to kick off two incredible weeks of racing.

"The OneDirt World Short Track Championship truly put the grassroots guys on the big stage," said OneDirt.com editor Ben Shelton. "These drivers are the backbone of our sport, and it's awesome for them to have a showcase event at such an amazing venue."

The 2017 edition of the OneDirt World Short Track Championship will feature the following divisions:

• DIRTcar Pro Late Models/SECA Late Models – A full-bodied late model with a Chevrolet Performance 604 engine
• DIRTcar UMP Modified – Open-wheeled Modifieds raced across North America
• DIRTcar Northeast Sportsman Modifieds – Center-steer Northeast open-wheel Modified body style with Chevrolet Performance 602 engine
• DIRTcar Pro Modified/SECA Crate Modifieds – Open wheel Modifieds with a Chevrolet Performance 602 engine.
• DIRTcar Pro-Sprints – Winged sprint cars with Chevrolet Performance 602 engines
• SECA Crate Sportsman – Full-bodied American stock car with Chevrolet Performance 602 engine
• MMSA Mini-Stocks – Monster Mini Stock Association 4-cylinder stock cars
• FWD/Hornets/DIRTcar Sport Compacts – Front wheel drive sports compacts modified for dirt track racing

The inaugural OneDirt World Short Track Championship attracted over 300 racers across nine divisions during three nights of thrilling dirt track racing. The second edition of the popular event will once again give grassroots racers a rare chance to battle at Charlotte's impressive dirt track.

"It gives a lot of grassroots racers an opportunity to come here and run at Charlotte," said Donald Bradsher, who competed in the DIRTcar Pro Late Model division at the inaugural event. "Most guys never get to come here. They just dream about it."

The 2017 OneDirt World Short Track Championship will once again be broadcast on DIRTVision with live streaming pay-per-view, increasing the exposure for some of dirt track racing's most exciting divisions.

"A lot of local guys who don't have a boatload of money come down here to gain some exposure, and to have it on DIRTVision is awesome," said DIRTcar Pro Sprints driver Scott Hall. "I just think it's a really positive deal for the sport."

Each division will have the chance to test their cars during open hot lap sessions on Thursday, October 26.The program on Friday, October 27 will feature qualifying heats for all eight divisions. Three 20-lap All-Star Invitational Features for the DIRTcar/SECA Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds and DIRTcar Northeast Sportsman Modifieds, plus a FWD/Hornets Feature will also make-up Friday's program.

Saturday, October 28, the final night of competition, will begin with Last Chance Showdown races for four divisions and end with Championship Features for all eight divisions. Sunday, October 29 will be used as a rain date, if necessary.

Drivers are highly encouraged to submit their entry forms by October 10. The Entry Form is included in the 2017 OneDirt World Short Track Championship Competitor Guide at dirtcar.com/worldshorttrack. Three-day event pit passes are $75 for series members and $90 for non-members. Single-day pit passes will also be available.

Two-day general grandstand admission (Friday and Saturday) will be $55 for adults. Children 13 and under get in free. Single-day general admission will also be available. Tickets will be sold at the track only, during the days of the event. Camping at the Charlotte Motor Speedway campground can be reserved in advance by contacting the Speedway's camping office at 1-800-455-FANS.
