RAPHAËL LESSARD SE FROTTERA À DES GROS NOMS MERCREDI SOIR
LORS DU KALAMAZOO KLASH 125
C'est une grosse semaine pour Raphaël Lessard avec 3 courses en sept jours. C'est à Kalamazoo, Michigan, qu'il se retrouve ce soir, mercredi, pour sa deuxième course de la semaine, le Kalamazoo Klash 125 de la Super Série ARCA/CRA, présentée par West Michigan Toyota Dealers.
En plus de la course de dimanche à Winchester, IN, il y a à peine deux jours, la semaine se complètera avec une troisième course samedi au Flat Rock Speedway, au Michigan encore une fois.
Le Kalamazoo Klash 125 revêt un intérêt particulier par la présence du pilote de la série NASCAR, Kyle Busch. Busch a remporté le Kalamazoo Klash 125 en 2014. Fred Campbell, le vainqueur de la première édition de cette course en 2002 et gagnant de l'édition 2016, sera également sur place pour défendre son titre. Lessard, qui performe toujours bien lorsque l'enjeu est grand, renouera avec ses collègues de David Gilliland Racing, suite à sa course ARCA de dimanche dernier.

Dump Truck Races at Airborne
PLATTSBURGH – For the first time in Airborne Park Speedway history, Dump Truck racing will take place this Saturday night. Laware Construction and Huntley Trucking will present the night of racing at 7 p.m.
In addition to Dump Truck races, the Egglefield Ford 358 Modifieds, Fidelis Care Sportsman, Poirier's True Value Renegades, Busch Beer Mini-Mods and Strictly stocks will all be in action for heats and feature events. Grandstands will open at 5 p.m. for spectators. Prices are set at $12 for adults with kids ages 12 and under free of charge.
Last week, Chris Raabe collected his fifth 358 Modified feature win at Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday night.
Steve Bernier took the lead on lap-4 and led until a lap-15 yellow flag for Jake Scarborough's spin in turn one. Bernier would select the outside lane to restart next to Raabe. On the restart Raabe would pull to the lead, only to have Bernier make contact with him in turn two that would send Raabe's No. 01 machine around. Raabe, however was able to keep the car rolling and continued in the seventh position.
The yellow flag flew again on lap-26 and Raabe had rallied to the second spot, awaiting an opportunity to get back at Bernier. Bernier elected to restart on the inside, but Raabe aced the restart and drove home to the victory.
Bernier would finish second with Todd Stone coming home third. Greg Atkins and Simon Perrault completed the top five.
The Sportsman point leader, Connor Cleveland, found victory lane for the second time in 2017. Cleveland drove from position twelve on the starting grid to the top spot.
Chris Cayea led the opening laps of the race before Cleveland would eventually run him down on lap-10. In his progress to the front, Cleveland made two exceptional moves to put him in position to win. One move was three-wide on the cushion out of turn four and the other was a four-wide move in which he was able to slice through the middle of turn two.
Moïse Pagé would settle for second with Joey Scarborough finishing third. Nick Heywood rallied from an early spin to finish fourth. Apparent fifth place finished, Adam Gage was disqualified following post-race technical inspection for an ignition infraction. Bucko Branham was placed fifth.
The Renegade division had a first-time winner, however on track winner Shawn Duquette failed post-race technical inspection for a suspension infraction. Michael Wright will inherit the race win. Mark Caron, Jimmy Bushey and Brent Jarvis complete the top five.
Kris Clark continued his dominance in the Mini-Mod division by scoring his fifth win of the season. Michael Whalen and Roger LaBounty finished second and third, respectively.
Shawn Walker found victory lane for the second time in the Strictly Stock division. Nathan Smart and Rolland Guay completed the top 3.

Complete Weekend Schedule Now Available For 44th Annual Oxford 250
NAPLES, ME (August 8) – The complete weekend schedule for the 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products is now available online at ProAllStarsSeries.com. The Oxford 250 will go green on Sunday afternoon,August 27 with heat races going green at 1:30 PM for the PASS Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, Legends, Rebels, and Street Stocks. With the possibility of $50,000 going to the winner, the Oxford 250 is the biggest single day event in motorsports, with nearly 70 cars expected to compete in the qualifying heats and main event, and it is all held on Sunday, August 27.
The 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products will be bigger than ever in 2017, featuring a full weekend of racing action being captured by the MAV TV cameras for a national television audience. Race teams will once again have the opportunity to make live pit stops and employ strategy during the course of the event and, since caution laps will not count, teams can avoid the pressure of having to bring in "specialized" pit crews.
In addition to the showcase event on Sunday, fans will have the chance to enjoy a full weekend of racing at Oxford Plains Speedway. It will all begin on Friday, August 25 when the PASS Super Late Models will get their first chance to take to the track for practice. Beginning at 6:30 PM, a full slate of heat and feature racing gets under way for the Outlaws, Rebels, Street Stocks, Cruisers, Trucks, Ladies, Legends, and Bandits.
On Saturday, August 26, the PASS Super Late Models will have another opportunity to practice before heats and features begin for the PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks, Legends, NE Lites, Wicked Good, and Granite State Pro Stock Series.

Barre, Vt. – Barre's Thunder Road enters the home stretch of the summer racing season this Thursday, August 10 with Cody Chevrolet Cadillac Night. The Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series finale for the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers headlines the four-division card as the track awards the first championship of the 2017 season.
Craftbury Common's Mike Martin enters the extra-distance event holding a 13-point lead over Waterbury Center's Jason Woodard. The pair each has a victory in the first two legs of the Triple Crown with Martin's fourth-place finish in the opener giving him the overall edge.
"It'd feel pretty nice to win the Triple Crown championship, especially the way our year's gone," Martin said. "We've had a pretty up-and-down season, and there's been a lot of down lately. We've gone through the car and gone through it again after the hard wreck we had at Mid-Season, so we can only hope we've got the speed on Thursday. We've just got to be consistent – if we can finish at least top-five in the feature and do well in the heat race to boot, we should be in good shape."
Joel Hodgdon and Dwayne Lanphear are tied for third in the Triple Crown standings 18 points back of Martin with Brendan Moodie completing the top-five. Three-time 2017 feature winner Trevor Lyman and former Tiger Champion Joe Steffen are among the other drivers who will likely be a factor on Thursday.
Weekly Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger points are also on the line in the midst of a tight championship battle. Wolcott's Moodie has stood at the top wire-to-wire so far, but the 2015 Champion's margin has shrunk considerably in the past two weeks. Woodard, the 2014 Tiger Champion, earned his third win of the season last Thursday to move into second in the standings and close within nine points of Moodie. 1991 "King of the Road" Lanphear rides 21 points back of Moodie in third. Lyman and Jaden Perry sit fourth and fifth.
The Thunder Road Late Models, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors join the Tigers on the jam-packed card. With four point-counting events remaining, the Late Model point battle is shaping up to be a two-man dance. Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien held steady this past Thursday, earning his eighth top-10 finish of the season to maintain a 13-point edge over South Burlington's Trampas Demers.
Barre's Jason Corliss and defending "King of the Road" Scott Dragon of Milton sit 60 and 71 points back of first, respectively, and will need both Therrien and Demers to stumble to get back into the championship hunt. Milton's Eric Chase leads a closely-matched pack of cars later in the top-10 that includes Marcel J. Gravel, Kyle Pembroke, and Cody Blake.
In the Allen Lumber Street Stocks, Hinesburg's Cooper Bouchard and Wolcott's Jamie Davis have put some distance on the rest of the field, with sophomore driver Bouchard leading 2015 Champion Davis by 23 points. The standings from third on back remain closely contested with Brandon Lanphear, Alan Maynard, Kevin Streeter, and Kelsea Woodard among the drivers who could vault back into title contention should Bouchard and Davis have a subpar outing.
All the exciting action of Cody Chevrolet Cadillac Night begins at 7:00pm this Thursday, August 10. The pits open at 3:30pm and the front gates open at 5:15pm. Admission is just $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Louis is the nephew of legendary racer Norm Andrews and Lisa is the niece of legendary racer Clem Despault. "Louie began on my uncle's race team as a crew member at the age of 13" says Lisa. "We actually met at Clem's junkyard and that's how we got to know each other. I had always gone to the races (back then it was Thunder Road and Catamount) and when Louis and I started dating we followed the racing circuit from Sanair to Catamount to Thunder Road."
After spending years watching and helping others race, Louis and Lisa decided that they wanted to field their own team. "Louis began building our first car in 2007" Lisa says. "We started racing at Thunder Road and on the American Canadian Tour in 2008 with Tony Andrews."
Hallstrom Motorsports enjoyed multiple wins in their first year competing, a major accomplishment for any team and especially a new one.
Andrews continued to drive for the team through the middle of the 2010 season, when Brett Wheeler took over driving duties for the next 3.5 seasons. Wheeler grabbed the checkers three times while with The Hallstroms and also had top 10 Thunder Road points finishes.
2014 saw 3-time champion and 14-time winner Flying Tiger driver Shawn Fleury move up to Late Models for Hallstrom Motorsports, winning two races and finishing 3rd in points in his first year with the team.
Fleury continued in the car during the 2015 season before Connecticut's Devin O'Connell put his name above the driver's door for the 2016 season.
O'Connell became the first driver to race for Hallstrom Motorsports as part of their Driver Development Program, designed to put young drivers behind the wheel in hopes of giving them experience to move up through the ranks to other racing series.
O'Connell was the 2016 American Canadian Tour Rookie of the Year before moving on to other racing series beginning in 2017.
In 2016 The Hallstroms also purchased a PASS (Pro All Star Series) Super Late Model car and tested it with Jeremy Davis of Davis Chassis Works.
After 9 seasons and 4 different drivers, Hallstrom Motorsports was finally able to put one of their own in the driver's seat beginning with the 2017 season.
15-year old Evan Hallstrom, a 2016 multi-time Dare Devil winner and top 3 points finisher in his rookie year at Speedway 51 in New Hampshire made the leap to the heavier, faster Late Models starting this season.
Deemed too young to race at Thunder Road, Evan has instead raced at Devil's Bowl in Fair Haven and Speedway 51 in New Hampshire. In just a handful of races this season Evan has finished as high as 2nd at Devils Bowl and has only top 10 finishes between his Devil's Bowl and Speedway 51 races.
Like his parents, Evan has been around racing from a very young age. "Evan became involved at the age of 4-5 in the garage with his Dad" says Evan's mother Lisa. "At the age of 13 he built and drove his first Dare Devil. He totaled that car in a practice session at Speedway 51 before the season started. That put him out for the 2015 season. Before that he was involved with R/C cars at Barre's R/C track. Then Evan got involved in iRacing ("authentic online racing") and he continues to iRace daily."
Having one of their own in the driver's seat has drawn The Hallstroms even closer together as a family. "The family involvement is everyone is all in" says family matriarch Lisa. "Louis and I have been involved in racing our whole lives and when we had the boys racing became a part of their life from helping in the shop, loading the trailer, going to the track, shopping for the team, etc. You name it and they have done it and still do. Evan builds the cars right along with his Dad."
"Evan's brother, Wil, is in college, but when he's home and before he went to school he was/is involved in helping the team out as well" says Lisa. "He does a lot of the social media things, loading the trailer, etc."
With his son as the driver, Louie Hallstrom has to take a different approach than he has in the past with his other drivers. "The biggest challenge is keeping myself calm" he says. "I don't want to be that parent that says you've got to win, you've got to win, you've got to win so I stay off of the radio. I give him support in other ways and have surrounded him with a good team."
The Hallstrom's family business, Hallstrom Excavating, gives the team support. It also gave Evan a training ground on driving. "Evan has been helping in the business for years" says Lisa. "Although he is not old enough to drive on the road by himself, he can drive our Kenworth dump truck, our Peterbilt tractor, and all of the equipment including the excavator, bulldozer, skid-steer and plow trucks."
Besides Hallstrom Excavating, it takes many other business and individuals to make the operation successful. "Randolph Auto Supply, Depot Square Pizzeria, ARbodies, Swift Springs, Design Engineering, Inc., Classic Ventures, Tri Star Racewear & Scotty B's Trucking all help with the bills" says Lisa. "Hank Lavanway also has been a big help financially in both the Late Model and PASS cars. The sponsors are an integral part of our ability to make it to the track each week. They help out financially as well as with parts and supplies."
Evan's contributions go even beyond being a driver and crew member. "Evan is very active on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat" says Lisa. "He has been working to attract marketing partners. He also has been involved in giving back to his community. He previously has raised money for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, a camp for kids with cancer. When he got his permit he approached The Vermont Governor's Highway Safety Program and now represents GHSP and Vermont Highway Safety Alliance traveling around the state promoting teen safe driving, the Click It Or Ticket initiative and distracted driving. He has attended a safety fair with his Late Model at Mount Abraham High School in Bristol, he's been on the radio promoting teen safe driving, he was at Thunder Road with his Late Model speaking to kids/teens about driving safety and buckling up, and he attended the Ford Drive Safe for Life driving school. He has several other appearances scheduled throughout the summer and fall."
Along with all of the work and the challenges there is also a lot of enjoyment with having a family member finally racing their car. "It has been a joy this year watching Evan on the track" says Lisa. "He has done so well and been smooth, fast and respectful. It has been great seeing veteran drivers and past champions approach Evan after racing him on the track, shaking his hand and telling him what a good job he did and how much respect he gained from them by racing them clean. Another joy has been watching him come from the rear in his heats and features since his father won't let Evan take his handicap and wants him to learn to drive through traffic cleanly."
A solid team consisting of Troy Wheeler as crew chief; Scott Guyette as tire specialist, Logan Powers as spotter and Steve Grandfield, Cameron Powers, Hank Lavanway and Wil Hallstrom as crew members is behind Evan, with his Dad, Louis, as car builder, head mechanic and fabricator. "He's also the chief motivating officer and the glue that keeps the team together" says Lisa, discounting her own role in those capacities. "There are also other people beyond the team that have been helpful" she adds. "Joey Laquerre, owner of Speedway 51, provides track time for our Driver Development Program as well as giving Evan an opportunity to drive at a young age. Same goes for Mike Bruno with Devil's Bowl Speedway. Jeff Taylor from Distance Chassis creates the ACT chassis and Jeremy Davis of Davis Chassis Works creates the PASS chassis. Annamarie Malfitana-Strawhand from Marketing at Full Speed."
"The long-range plan is more seat time" says Lisa. "This fall Evan will be testing in the PASS car. The car was rebuilt over the winter and so far in 2017 Jeremy Davis has driven in 3 PASS races getting the car ready and dialed-in. For 2018, when Evan is 16, we want him to be in a touring series with the Late Model and also run some PASS races. The eventual goal is to get him into the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and then see if he goes on from there."
With a solid, family-run team behind him and a good head on his shoulders (with and without a helmet) young Evan Hallstrom is on his way to even bigger racing success.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Mother Nature has given every competitor hoping to snap Scott Payea's four-race winning streak on the American Canadian Tour (ACT) an extra week to prepare for the Coastal 100 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
Wet weather prompted the postponement of the event last Saturday. It has been rescheduled for this Saturday, August 12.
Payea is seeking his first ACT title. He leads his closest rival, Dillon Moltz of Waterford, Conn., by 36 points (584-548).
His most recent victory, at Seekonk Speedway, moved him into fifth place on the all-time ACT Late Model win list.
Moltz, Rich Dubeau of Lebanon, NH, Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Vt., Jason Corliss of Barre, Vt. and Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass. are among the drivers who will attempt to end Payea's streak.
The Coastal 100 is the sixth of ten championship point races on the ACT's 2017 schedule. Following its appearance at Beech Ridge, the Late Model tour moves to White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH Saturday, August 19.
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is located on 70 Holmes Road in Scarborough, Maine, one-half mile from the Maine Turnpike.
Grandstands open at 3 p.m. Qualifying events begin at 7 p.m. The NASCAR Nites Pro Series, Sport Series and Wildcat divisions will also be in action. Adult admission/$25 – Kids 12 and under admitted free.

Bleau wins first Mini Stock "Sweepstakes" race

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway living legends Kenny Tremont Jr. and Tim LaDuc once again added to their impressive résumés on Sunday, August 6. Each scored a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature race win at The Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl during the annual "Double Feature Night" presented by Liberty Street Discount Beverage & Deli. Six other drivers – Bill Duprey, Chris Murray, P.J. Bleau, Jason Porter, Aaron Mulready, and Austin Chaves – also visited victory lane during the event.
Tremont, of West Sand Lake, N.Y., scored his 77th career Devil's Bowl win in the opening 25-lap feature for the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified division. He started in 14th position and methodically worked his way toward the front as trouble fell on three different early leaders – Jimmy Ryan and Chad Miller were taken out after contact from Justin Severance, and Billy Lussier later broke a rear axle.
Tremont took the top spot from Vince Quenneville Jr. with seven laps remaining and cruised to the win – his third in a row and fourth of the season. Quenneville scored his fourth runner-up finish of the year on The Dirt Track, followed by Randy Howe, Justin Comes, and Codie Aubin. Mike Fisher finished an impressive sixth in his first-ever start, followed by Severance, James Fadden, LaDuc, and Trevor Rocke.
It was all Orwell, Vt., native LaDuc in the second feature, as he got out front early and sailed to his 49th career Devil's Bowl win. Howe closed in late but never mounted a serious challenge and finished second. Lussier rebounded from his earlier problems to complete a late pass on Tremont and score his career-best dirt finish in third place. Tremont and Comes were next, ahead of Rocke, Brian Whittemore, Tomas Kimball, Fadden, and Fisher.
Unofficially, LaDuc's lead in the championship standings shrunk to just five points over Tremont, 518-513, with four weeks left in the point-counting season. Quenneville sits third, 28 points back, at 490.
The Rosen & Berger Super Stock division had an action-filled night in a pair of 15-lap feature races. Bill Duprey of Hydeville, Vt., ended a month of bad luck by winning the opening race – his 47th career win. Mike Bradley finished second in only his second start of the year, after a late, close-quarters battle with Garrett Given. Given, driving a car he usually pilots on Devil's Bowl's 1/2-mile Asphalt Track, finished third ahead of Cassidy Wilson and Scott FitzGerald.
Chris Murray of Fair Haven, Vt. posted his fourth win of the year in the nightcap, dominating the caution-free race with a margin of victory of more than half of a lap. The racing was intense behind him, though, and Curtis Condon came out on top of a five-car battle for the runner-up position – his best showing of the year. Matt Mosher took third place, followed by Duprey and Randy Alger.
Murray closed the gap to point leader Josh Bussino – who finished sixth in both races – to just six markers, unofficially, 448-442. Defending champion Duprey is a tight third at 439, only nine points behind Bussino's lead.
In a photo finish, invader P.J. Bleau of Cohoes, N.Y., locked himself into the September 17 "open competition" season finale with a win in the opening 15-lap Portland Glass Mini Stock feature. Bleau beat Chris Conroy to the finish line by inches to take the win in the first qualifying race of the recently-announced "Sweepstakes" series and will receive an automatic starting spot in the finale as an "at large" entry.
Conroy's runner-up finish and Chris Charbonneau's third-place effort also lock them into the finale with two "home track" bids available at the first feature race. Jason Porter finished fourth with rookie Johnny Bruno fifth. Bleau's win his first at Devil's Bowl and came in his first start of the season at the track; he has also won at Albany-Saratoga, Lebanon Valley, and Fonda speedways in 2017, as well as Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
In the second 15-lap race, Freeport, Maine, resident Porter came from deep in the field running three- and four-wide to take his third victory of the season. Charbonneau outlasted a snarling pack behind him for second place, while early leader Andrew FitzGerald took third in his first dirt race of the season. Bruno and Robert Garney completed the top five. Charbonneau opened up a big lead of 60 points, unofficially, over Garney, 551-491.
The Catamount Mini Sprint club also held a pair of 15-lap features, and the first race was a family affair for Mulready team out of Buskirk, N.Y. Brothers Aaron and Erick finished 1-2, giving Aaron his second-straight win and Erick his best finish of the year. Nadine Coates finished third with Robert Griffin and Colby Beinhaur in tow.
Fifteen year-old Mini Sprint rookie Austin Chaves of Chester, Vt., was strong in the second race to take his second win of the season and protect his lead in the point standings. Beinhaur and Aaron Mulready completed the podium finishers, while 12 year-old Cody O'Brien was a career-best fourth and Coates was fifth. Sean Beinhaur walked away from a hard flip on the frontstretch in the second race.
Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action on Wednesday, August 9, at 7:30 p.m. with the Wednesday Night Drag Racing Series. The 1/2-mile oval Asphalt Track races on Saturday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. with the annual Heritage Family Credit Union "Member Night" program, and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track welcomes the Sprint Cars of New England on Sunday, August 13, and 6:00 p.m.
