ACT, ARbodies Announce Multi-Year Contingency Agreement

Waterbury, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and ARbodies have announced a new contingency agreement for the ACT Late Model Tour and Série ACT. ARbodies, neé Aluminum Racing Products, will become an official contingency sponsor of ACT in an agreement that runs through the 2020 racing season.

 

As part of the contingency deal, ARbodies merchandise certificates will be awarded to the eligible race winner and 10th-place finisher at each ACT Late Model Tour and Série ACT event. If said finishers are not eligible for the awards, the merchandise certificates will be awarded to the next eligible competitor.

 

In addition, an ARbodies complete "A" body package will be raffled off to one eligible driver in each series at their season-ending Banquet of Champions. Winners can elect to receive a discount on a complete "M" body package in lieu of the A body.

 

"We're excited to enter into this new relationship with ARbodies," ACT co-owner Cris Michaud said. "The company has a great history of products and of working with the ABC Late Model body template, and we look forward to partnering with them going forward."

 

ARbodies has been a manufacturer of race car bodies for more than 30 years. Based in Tennessee, the company produces a full line of bodies and components for asphalt and dirt short track cars throughout the United States.

Peterborough Speedway Staff Starts Work on the 2018 Schedule

The first half century of action at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval entered the history books with the final checkered flag of last year's Autumn Colours Classic. At the same moment, staff and officials at Peterborough Speedway began making plans for the 2018 schedule. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says that the off-season is almost busier than when the next Saturday night racing program gets underway.

 

"At this time of year, we're always looking forward and thinking about the new season," said Josiasse. "There are sponsorship packages to put together and updates to the rule book that need to be finalized. Working toward opening the gates on the Victoria Day weekend takes a lot of effort behind the scenes and we're in the office to get things ready."

 

Josiasse says he's hoping the hometown speed plant can carry the attitude of the track's 50th annual season into 2018. The golden anniversary campaign ran rain-free during the regular schedule, with a brief weather delay during the Autumn Colours Classic the only blemish on the year. At the track's awards banquet, Tyler Betts, Noel Snow and Tim Burke accepted the accolades as first-time champions in the Organics & Glass Late Model, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck divisions respectively. Jeremy Kelly claimed his second straight Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun title, with Anthony DiBello earning his 3rdThunder Car Crown in 4 seasons.

 

Starting in 2018, the division that had been known as 4Fun will undergo a name change to 'Bone Stock', while the former Thunder Car class will now go by the Super Stock title. Josiasse and the Peterborough Speedway team will also be part of a multi-track group that will promote events in the rebranded Ontario Super Late Model Series. 75 lap shows will include time trials to determine qualifying spots and the winner's payout proposed for $2500, with a strong payout through the running order. The tour's first of 8 dates is scheduled for Saturday, May 26th at Flamboro, with stops at Sunset, Sauble, Jukasa Motor Speedway and the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City leading up to the series' finale – October 6th and 7th – at the Autumn Colours Classic.

 

"Our commitment to quality, family motorsports entertainment remains the same as we head into the track's 51stseason of continuous operation," Josiasse said. "It's a very competitive marketplace and we need to give the fans the best value for their dollar, week-after-week."

 

Bullring bullet points: Peterborough Speedway's 2018 schedule will be officially released at the 4th annual Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – March 9th, 10th & 11th – at the International Centre in Toronto.

NAPLES, ME (January 6) – Coinciding with the series banquet tonight, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced the release of the 2018 schedule for the PASS North Super Late Models.  The Northeast's top short trackers will once again compete at some of the best speedways in New England and Canada, highlighted by the 45thAnnual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway on the final weekend of August.  The season will begin for the third straight year at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut as part of the Icebreaker weekend on April 7-8.  PASS will return to Canada in 2018 with a first ever trip to New Brunswick's Petty International Raceway in June.  The PASS North Super Late Models will compete on 10 different speedways in 4 states and Canada in 2018.

"We believe this is another really great schedule for the PASS North Super Late Models," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "This year we will celebrate our 18th year of sanctioning races throughout the United States and Canada and we're glad to begin new partnerships, while continuing to build on old ones. The Oxford 250 has found a home with its August date and has solidified its place as one of short track racing's biggest events and we're glad to continue that tradition in 2018." 

The 45th Annual Oxford 250 will continue as one of the crown jewel events in short track racing with racers from all across North America set to compete for $25,000 to win, plus guaranteed lap leader money on August 24-26.  The 250 will again cap off a full weekend of short track racing action on the famed Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine's biggest sporting event of the year. Last year, Curtis Gerry took home over $30,000 in his first ever win in the 250.

A final tune-up to the Oxford 250 will take place on Sunday, July 29 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  In addition, Oxford Plains Speedway will once again host the PASS North Super Late Models on Sunday, April 15, and Sunday May 20 and will crown the PASS North titlist with the season finale on Saturday, October 13.

Following a successful debut in 2016, PASS will again sanction a special Independence Day weekend show at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, July 1.  This event will be a non-points event, featuring PASS "non-winners."  The winner will be given a guaranteed starting spot for the 45thAnnual Oxford 250. 

In 2018, PASS North returns to Canada debuting at Petty International Raceway in New Brunswick on Saturday, June 2.  PASS North will also be returning to Speedway 51 in Groveton, NH on Saturday, August 11 for the first time since Trevor Sanborn took the checkered flag there in 2010.

Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will host the PASS North Super Late Models three times in 2018, featuring the PASS 300 on Saturday, April 28, followed by events on Saturday, July 7, and on Saturday, September 22. 

Speedway 95 in Hermon, ME returns to the PASS North schedule for a fifth consecutive year with a 150 lap event slated for Sunday, June 17.

PASS will make its first of four trips in 2018 to the state of New Hampshire on Saturday, May 5 at Star Speedway.  PASS will make its only stop of the year at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, September 15.  The series will also be in the Granite State on Friday, August 3 for an event at Lee USA Speedway. 

The Super Late Models of PASS will compete again at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Vermont, but for the first time ever, will have two races there. The PASS North Super Late Models will race for 150 laps, joined by the Thunder Road Late Models, for the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 27.  Then, the night before the 56th Annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road, PASS North will return for a 150 lap race on Friday, September 28.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials announced today that both the Pro All Star Series (PASS) Super Late Models and the North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) have been added to the 56th Vermont Milk Bowl Weekend presented by Northfield Savings Bank in 2018. The two series will be part of a special "Milk BowlFriday" event to be held on Friday, September 28.

 

It will be the second PASS North visit of the 2018 season to the Barre high banks, joining the Memorial Day Classic event that has been on the PASS calendar since 2015. For NEMST, they will make the trip to Thunder Road for the second time in their history and the first since 2013.

 

Milk Bowl Friday will be a one-day event for both series, with the PASS Super Late Models running a 150-lap main event and NEMST scheduled for a 50-lap feature. The V8 Street Stock Showdown Series and Thunder Road's Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors will round out the card. Post time is set for 6:00pm.

 

"We're really excited about adding a third day of competition to Vermont Milk Bowl Weekend, and we're looking forward to having the PASS Super Late Models and the North East Mini Stock Tour be a part of it," Thunder Road co-owner Cris Michaud. "The Vermont Milk Bowl has always been the biggest weekend on the Thunder Road calendar. By adding two of the top touring series in the region, along with the Street Stock Showdown Series, we hope to make it one of the biggest weekends on the Northeast motorsports calendar as well."

 

The addition of Milk Bowl Friday makes the 56th Vermont Milk Bowl a true three-day event, with Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day on Saturday, September 29 and the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Sunday, September 30. The Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and New England Dwarf Cars will be on the card for Saturday and Sunday.

Empire Super Sprints Return to Airborne in 2018



 

PLATTSBURGH – The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints are set to return to Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday, June 9.

                A double-header weekend is scheduled in Northern New York for the Empire Super Sprints teams with Mohawk Raceway on Friday and Airborne on Saturday.

Last season the Empire Super Sprints invaded Airborne and set the fastest lap times of the season on board their 360 sprint cars. Stephentown, New York driver Matt Tanner collected the checkered flag in 2017.

                "Our ESS teams are really looking forward to the next visit," Empire Super Sprints Vice President, Dean Reynolds said. "The teams loved the former asphalt facility, especially having a paved pit stall."    

                In addition to their regular season event, the Empire Super Sprints will battle against the Sprint Cars of New England (SCONE) and competitors from north of the border in the American/Canadian Sprint Car Clash on Sunday, September 23.

                The event will take place following the final point counting event for the Empire Super Sprints at Fonda Speedway on Saturday, September 22.

                A $4,000 check will be going to the winner of the event at Airborne. In addition, a 5-lap dash for $1,000 will take place between two Empire Super Sprints drivers, two Sprint Cars of New England drivers and two Canadian competitors. Lap money will also be available for the leaders of specific laps.

                Both Reynolds and Sprint Cars of New England President Will Hull, are extremely excited that Airborne Promoter John Walker is going forward with the event.

                "Will and I hope to make this an annual event," Reynolds added. "With the purse and the event being at the end of the season, don't be surprised if many big names try and contend for the $4,000 prize."

                The 2017 Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Champion, Jason Barney has committed to the event, along with the all-time wins leader, Steve Poiriér. Sprint Cars of New England defending Champion, Clay Dow has also marked the event on his calendar.

CHARLOTTE, NC (December 22) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced several dates today for the 2018 PASS South Super Late Model schedule.  The South's original and longest running Super Late Model tour will be highlighted in 2018 by beginning the season with two of the biggest and most prestigious races in the region.  With seven dates confirmed, the PASS South Super Late Models will compete on at least five different venues over the course of the 2018 season, with one date left to confirm and up to two more events possibly to be announced by mid-January.

          "We believe this schedule should work well for our racers in and outside the southeast region in 2018," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We realize everyone is busy and we have worked very hard to avoid any conflicts with other series or track schedules.    We're very appreciative for all of our enthusiastic track owners that have partnered with us again for our 13th season of racing in the South.  We've got several big things on the burner for next year and are excited for the possibilities."

The 2018 season will start on, February 23-24, at Dillon Motor Speedway with the 13th Annual South Carolina Clash.  After a very competitive race last year, the 200 lap event will once again be the first contest of the 2018 PASS National Championship Series, asphalt Super Late Model racing's only true national championship. 

The PASS South Super Late Models will then move to the Tarheel State for the 13th Annual Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 31. Hickory, the longest tenured track on the PASS South circuit dating back to 2006, will once again hold the biggest and most traditional Super Late Model race in the Carolinas.  As always, the Easter Bunny 150 is expected to attract some of the top short track racers in the country for one of the most sought after trophies in the sport.

In May, the series will move to one of the fastest and most unique tracks in the country.  PASS will expand its relationship with Concord Speedway by again hosting the Old Glory 125 on Friday night, May 25 as part of the big Memorial Day weekend festivities in the Charlotte area.  The famed triangular half-mile, known for its legendary Big 10 Series, will once again also see the PASS South Super Late Models as part of the 16th Annual North-South Shootout on November 9-10.  Additionally, PASS will be the exclusive sanctioning body for Super Late Models at Concord Speedway in 2018.

The PASS South Super Late Models will also return to two of the Mid-Atlantic's most exciting speedways in 2018 with a couple of 150 lappers.  Orange County Speedway will host the series on Saturday night, July, 21 before the tour moves to South Boston Speedway on Saturday night, August 11 for a twin bill with the NASCAR Late Model Stocks.

PASS will close out the 2018 season by crowning the series champion at the 13th Annual Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 200 at Hickory Motor Speedway onSaturday, November 17.  Final confirmation for any other dates will be released by January 20.  Additional information on support divisions will also be announced in the near future.

Look for the release of the 2018 schedule for the PASS North Super Late Models and the remainder of the PASS National Championship Series dates to be released in the near future.

And, don't forget, the biggest short track race on asphalt, the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine will take place August 24-26, 2018, paying $25,000 to the winner plus additional lap leader bonus money.  Curtis Gerry, the 2017 Oxford 250 winner, took home over $30,000 for his triumph in this year's event.

Le Beauceron confirme sa signature avec Kyle Busch Motorsports pour la saison 2018

 

St-Joseph-de-Beauce, le 23 décembre 2017 - C'est avec un grand soupir de soulagement que Raphael Lessard a appris jeudi soir de ses parents que l'entente avec Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) allait être ratifiée sous peu pour lui permette de continuer sa carrière en stock car aux États-Unis.  Raphaël Lessard poursuivra donc son apprentissage au sein de cette prestigieuse équipe en 2018, à la recommandation de Toyota TRD qui continue pour une troisième année à lui ouvrir les portes de l'industrie des courses de stock car aux États-Unis. Entre 19-20 courses en Super Late Model figureront au calendrier de Raphaël, et ce dès la fin janvier. Les détails de sa participation dans d'autres séries seront finalisés au cours du prochain mois et laissent présager de bonnes nouvelles sur ce front également.

 

Kyle Busch Motorsports est l'équipe du vétéran du même nom qui évolue dans la série NASCAR Monster Energy et dont il a remporté le championnat en 2015. KBM a été créé en 2010 et détient déjà de nombreux records dans les différentes séries NASCAR. Sa réputation de former des gagnants est déjà établie. Lessard y retrouvera plusieurs autres pilotes à peine plus vieux que lui et contre qui il a couru depuis deux ans. Raphaël y retrouvera également Kyle Busch, qui vient tout juste de remporter le Snowball Derby auquel participait le jeune Beauceron.

 

«C'est fantastique ce qui m'arrive, c'est définitivement le plus beau cadeau de Noël que je pouvais espérer », s'est exclamé Raphaël. « Je remercie mes parents, Jack Irving et Toyota TRD, les investisseurs au sein de la société en commandite et mes commanditaires sans qui ce ne serait pas possible. Mes parents font tellement de sacrifice pour moi. En plus de leur dire merci, je crois que je vais devoir aller magasiner avec mes sœurs pour trouver deux cadeaux qui vont leur faire plaisir ».

 

Cette annonce ne signifie pas pour autant que le travail de recherche de commandites ou d'investisseurs pour se joindre à la société en commandite « Raphaël Lessard » s'arrêter. La société en commandite a pour objectif d'aider dans l'effort financier requis pour boucler le budget de l'équipe et de Raphaël. « Nous avons accueilli des investisseurs dans la société en commandite en 2017 et notre recherche pour en trouver d'autres continue. Ces participations financières de compagnies et d'individus de la région de Québec et de la Beauce sont essentiels à la progression de la carrière de Raphaël et à sa participation dans cette équipe de pointe qu'est Kyle Busch Motorsports », de conclure Robert Desrosiers.

 

Recruté par Toyota en 2016 pour se joindre à leur programme de développement de pilotes (TRD), Raphaël Lessard en a impressionné plusieurs depuis son arrivée sur les ovales américains en 2015. Dès 2016 il méritait le titre du CARS Tour dans la catégorie Super Late Model avec quatre victoires et 9 Top 10, en 10 courses dans cette série. L'année 2017 aura été un peu plus éprouvante pour Raphaël, ce qui figurait dans le plan de progression établi par Desrosiers et les patrons de Toyota. Lessard ne s'est donc pas limité au CARS Tour seulement en 2017, mais a participé à plusieurs courses de 200, 300 et même 400 tours dans diverses séries. Parmi les 17 courses complétés,  le jeune homme de 16 ans de St-Joseph -de-Beauce a réussi à terminer 15 de celles-ci dans le top 10, 7 dans le Top 5 et 4 de ces 7 ont résulté en un podium. Des résultats impressionnants malgré 6 autres courses abandonnées pour des raisons techniques.

 

La saison 2018 de Raphaël débutera le 28 janvier prochain alors qu'il participera au ARCA/CRA Super Series Speedfest 200 au Crisp Motorsports Park à Cordele en Géorgie. Le calendrier complet de Raphaël Lessard sera annoncé en début janvier.
