South Boston PASS South Event Becomes "Roads To Oxford & Richmond" Qualifier

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 26) –Officials with the Pro All Stars Series announced today that the PASS South Super Late Model event scheduled forSaturday night, August 11 at Virginia's South Boston Speedway will now be the final "Roads To Oxford & Richmond" qualifier of the year. Several teams have expressed interest in having the choice to get a guaranteed starting spot for the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, August 26 or the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway in October. The 150-lap event at South Boston Speedway is the only date left available to give teams the option to choose between the Oxford 250 or the Commonwealth Classic at Richmond. The top five finishers at South Boston Speedway on August 11 will be locked into the Oxford 250 or at Richmond.
The 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway will be on Sunday, August 26, giving racers the chance to win up to $50,000. The inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway will be on Saturday, October 20 and will pay $10,000 to the Super Late Model winner. Tour-Type Modifieds, Late Model Stocks, Limited Late Models, and Street Stocks will also be in action as part of the most anticipated new event in short track racing.
As for the fate of the 12th Annual Orange Blossom Special at Orange County Speedway that was postponed last weekend due to the possibility of severe weather, a decision on a new date is still pending. Officials for both PASS and Orange County Speedway are discussing a new date for later this fall, but there are very few dates available that do not compete with previously scheduled events at other tracks or with other series. A final decision regarding Orange County Speedway will be announced soon at ProAllStarsSeries.com and on the PASS social media pages.

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Québec, Canada (27 juillet 2018) - Un Villeneuve en piste au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) est tout aussi naturel qu'une transmission intégrale sur une Subaru. Pourquoi ne pas jumeler ces deux idées? Jacques Villeneuve, le champion du monde 1997 de Formule 1, participera à la manche trifluvienne du tout nouveau Championnat de rallycross des Amériques ARX au volant d'une Subaru WRX STI préparée par Vermont SportsCar, les 4 et 5 août.
Villeneuve se joint à Subaru Rally Team USA aux côtés de Chris Atkinson et Patrik Sandell, alors que le champion local sera en piste au GP3R pour la première fois depuis 2014, dans une voiture d'usine préparée tout juste de l'autre côté de la frontière canado-américaine.
Lors de sa dernière présence en piste au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, en Championnat du monde FIA de rallycross, il avait remporté sa première manche qualificative, avant que des ennuis mécaniques l'empêchent de poursuivre sur sa lancée dans les manches suivantes. Villeneuve, vainqueur 1995 des 500 Milles d'Indianapolis, est fébrile de revenir en rallycross, une discipline remplie d'action qu'il affectionne particulièrement, de surcroît grâce à un partenariat avec une équipe avec la réputation de Subaru.
« Je me suis toujours senti à la maison sur le circuit de Trois-Rivières, c'est donc toujours un plaisir pour moi d'y être de retour, a mentionné Jacques Villeneuve. Le rallycross a connu une croissance exponentielle depuis la dernière fois que j'ai piloté ces époustouflantes voitures, et je suis heureux de participer à nouveau à ce sport qui gagne en popularité. Je suis reconnaissant d'avoir cette opportunité de piloter une Subaru d'usine et je ferai tout en mon pouvoir pour aider l'équipe dans son aventure en Championnat de rallycross des Amériques. »
Être de retour à Trois-Rivières est également plein de sens pour Villeneuve, une piste qu'il connaît bien pour y avoir couru à de nombreuses reprises en rallycross et en circuit routier, et où son père Gilles a été repéré avant de faire sa place en Formule 1. Ses débuts en Championnat de rallycross des Amériques auront lieu lors du troisième événement de la série en 2018, après les épreuves du Speedmachine Festival à Silverstone, et au Dirtfish ARX du Circuit des Amériques à Austin, au Texas, il y a tout juste deux semaines.
Pour Subaru, c'est un honneur de voir un pilote du calibre de Jacques Villeneuve au volant de l'une de ses voitures de courses. « Jacques Villeneuve est une icône mondiale du sport motorisé, et Subaru est heureux de l'accueillir en Championnat de rallycross des Amériques au volant d'une WRX STI, a mentionné William Stokes, Gestionnaire – Sports motorisés chez Subaru of America. « Avec son expérience chez lui et les succès phénoménaux qu'il a connu en course en Amérique du Nord, Jacques donnera assurément des sensations fortes aux amateurs du Canada et des États-Unis.»

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Quebec, Canada (July 27, 2018) – Having a Villeneuve on the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) track is as natural as having all-wheel drive on a Subaru. It is then just natural that Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 FIA Formula One World Champion, will compete in the Trois-Rivières round of the all-new Americas Rallycross (ARX) Championship at the wheel of a Vermont SportsCar-prepared Subaru WRX STI, August 4-5.
Villeneuve will join the Subaru Rally Team USA three-car team alongside Chris Atkinson and Patrik Sandell, as the local champion will be back on track at GP3R for the first time since 2014, in a factory car prepared just on the other side of the Canada-USA border.
During his last appearance on track at the GP3R, in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, he won his first qualifying race, before a mechanical failure prevented him to advance to the final rounds. Villeneuve, winner of the 1995 Indianapolis 500, is thrilled to be back in rallycross, an action-packed discipline he enjoys tremendously, with a highly-motivating partnership with a team with the reputation of Subaru's.
"Trois-Rivières has always felt like my motorsports home, so it's once again a pleasure to be back. Rallycross has grown exponentially since I've last raced these amazing cars, so it's good to be part of a sport on the rise. The motorsports legend returns to Trois-Rivières, a circuit he knows well from competing rallycross and road course racing and where his father, racing legend Gilles Villeneuve raced at many times. His debut in Americas Rallycross will come in the championship's third event of 2018 after hosting successful events at Speedmachine Festival in Silverstone and just two weeks ago at DirtFish ARX of Circuit of The Americas.
For Subaru, it's an honor to have a driver with the pedigree of Jacques' caliber driving one of its cars.

PLATTSBURGH – After a successful event in 2017, the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds are set to return to the Airborne Park Speedway on Tuesday, July 31 presented by Liquor & Wine Warehouse and Unique eCigs.
Dirt racing ace and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor, Stewart Friesen is set to make his first visit on the Airborne Park Speedway dirt surface with his Halmar Friesen Racing number 44. In addition, three-time defending series champion and overall six-time champion Matt Sheppard will be in attendance with his Dendis Companies 9s machine.
A year ago, both top competitors missed the Airborne event for different reasons. Friesen had commitments with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, while Sheppard was serving a suspension for an incident at the Utica-Rome Speedway with the eventual winner of the Airborne event, Larry Wight.
Other top series competitors expected include Brett Hearn, Jimmy Phelps, Max McLaughlin and Billy Decker.
2017 Egglefield Ford 358-Modified champion, Chris Raabe was the top Airborne finisher, as he collected a twelfth-place finish with his small block modified. Top Quebec runners attending the event last season included Steve Bernard, Yan Bussière and JF Corriveau.
Through 10 Super DIRTcar Series events in 2018, Sheppard is the point leader with three point counting wins and leads Erick Rudolph by 121 points. Friesen leads the series in wins thus far, as he has collected four wins in just eight starts. Danny Johnson, Phelps and Hearn each have scored one win a piece on the year.
Post time for the event is slated for 7 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4:30. Admission prices are set at $25 for adults with kids ages 6-12 $5.
Advance sale tickets will be on sale starting Thursday, July 26 at Poirier's True Value located at 7327 State Route 9 in Plattsburgh. The advance sale price will be $22.

Summer of Excitement Continues This Weekend at Peterborough Speedway

There's some hot summertime fun brewing at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. Central Ontario's hometown racing experience roars back to life Saturday, July 28th with the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Super Stock and Late Model divisions; plus the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series – with kid's rides at intermission – at Peterborough Speedway.
"Its hard to believe that we'll wrap-up another month of the 2018 regular season schedule this weekend," said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. "We've had so much going on since the very first Great Canadian RV green flag of the year and every lap our weekly racers and special guest classes turn brings us another step closer to the 26th annual running of the Autumn Colours Classic."
Saturday the 28th, pit gates will open at 2:30 with the general admission grandstand unlocked at 5:00 and racing scheduled for a6:00 start. Looking ahead on the calendar, the Hot August Nights Series gets underway Saturday, August 4th as the OSCAAR Modified Tour rolls into town for a 40 lap 'A' main, along with the Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Super Stock divisions and the OSCAAR Pro Midgets; plus a pre race corn roast.
The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series returns Saturday, August 11th. Also on the program will be a 60 lap Bone Stock feature, Mini Stocks, Renegade Trucks, Late Models and timed spectator laps for King of the Hill. Across the board, there have been memorable events and special moments for teams in Peterborough Speedway's regular divisions including main event victories by Chris Tubman, Nolan Gould, Marlie Owen and James Horner. Ce samedi 21juillet, la température estivale semble nous gâter, ce sera
les retours des side panels pour les bolides Modifiés et les Modlite. Les
voitures seront munis des spectaculaires side panels au look agressif, qui
procure de plus d'appuis en courbes. Finale de 50 tours pour les Modifiés,
deux finales de 32 tours pour les Sportsman (incluant la reprise de la finale
du 23 juin) et les Modlite side panels.
MARDI 24 juillet, Super dirt cars series.
Ce sera la visite annuelle des gros blocs, et des plus grandes vedettes
américaines, qui viendront se frotter à nos pilotes locaux qui sont de plus
en plus compétitifs avec eux aussi, leurs gros blocs, pour certains. Les
pilotes Modifiés 358 peuvent aussi s'offrir de belles performances, car
quelques fois la piste peut avantager les 358, et une bourse de 500$ est
attribuée au premier des 358. C'est le temps de voir en piste les plus
grands de la discipline telle que, Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, Max
McLauglhin, Jimmy Phelps, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker entre autres… suite à
un spectaculaire accident du côté de Middletown, Danny Johnson est à la
recherche d'une voiture pour les manches canadiennes. Noté que le
premier Québécois de la série n'est nul autre autre que Jean-François
Corriveau qui pointe au 15e rang. D'autre pilotes Québécois seront en
piste avec leurs gros blocs, Steve Bernard qui a manqué le podium de peu
lors de sa sortie à Cornwall, Yan Bussière et j'en passe. En plus du 100
tours de la Super dirt car series il y aura aussi du programme la troisième
ronde du GMC crate motor sportsman en plus des STR et des Lightning
Sprint.
Slingshot - information importante
Prenez note que, les Slignshot ne feront pas la course du National prévu
pour ce mardi le 24 sur la grande piste. Cette course est reportée le 1er
septembre sur le Mini Drome, problème de logistique oblige.

Appeals Board Reduces Pierce Penalty for Dirt Late Model Dream Infraction following Polygraph Testing

CONCORD, NC — July 20, 2018 — The DIRTcar Appeals Board has amended a penalty served to Bobby Pierce, driver of the No 32p DIRTcar Late Model, following tire sampling at the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway in June.
After appealing the penalty as per Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications, Pierce and seven members of his team underwent rigorous polygraph testing, providing the appellate board additional perspective in the issuance of the penalty.
The appellate board's decision upheld the disqualification and suspension but reduced the fine to the minimum $2,000. Pierce has already completed the four-race suspension.
The Appeals Board affirmed and accepted the technical inspection procedure at the event, the samples' chain of custody, processing of the samples, and the results of the multiple tests provided by the laboratory. Regardless of whether or not the team was aware of the infraction, the tire did not conform to the required specification and benchmarks.
After extensive consideration, the Appeals Board has the option of allowing polygraph testing to provide them with additional information in determining the appropriateness of the penalty.
As per Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications, Pierce may file another appeal directly to the Chairman Potestas to review the Board's determination.
DIRTcar Racing Late Model Penalty:
Bobby Pierce, driver of the No. 32p DIRTcar Racing Late Model has violated Section 11.0, 11.1-X, Y; 15.11-G of the 2018 DIRTcar Racing General Rules and Specifications.
Event: Dirt Late Model Dream – Eldora Speedway, Rossburg, Ohio
Date: June 7 -8- 9 2018
The Member requested an Appeal of the Penalty as outlined in Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications. The Member also requested a deferral of the penalty. The deferral was granted by the Appeals Board Chair, and the Appeal was heard. Polygraph testing was performed, after which the Board reduced the penalty.
Event and explanation:
Tire samples were taken June 7, June 8 and June 9, 2018 from participant finishers of the events of the Dirt Late Model Dream Weekend at Eldora Speedway, Rossburg, Ohio.
A total of 46 tires were sampled using the accepted practice of DIRTcar Racing and Eldora Speedway with team-provided grooving iron and sample cuts. Samples were logged, bagged and sealed with representing crew member signatures.
Specimen cuttings were sent to an independent laboratory for testing for chemically-altering substances in the tires in a comparative analysis.
The test revealed the tire had been altered and did not match or conform to the benchmarks provided by Hoosier Tire Company.
Violation:
11.0 Penalties, Fine Schedules and Protests

X.) Any member that attempts and/or is found to be using tires that are found to be illegal in any manner will be subject to disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or loss of points and/or any other action deemed appropriate by DIRTcar Supervisory Officials.
- The minimum penalty for any tire that doesn't meet the benchmark will be as follows:
- Disqualification from the event
- A fine up to 1,000 championship and track points
- Return of all earned purse and/or reward money from the event
- A fine up to equal the purse money rewarded for the event with a minimum fine of $2000
- A minimum suspension of 1-month (minimum or 4 races) up to six (6) months in duration.
- Tires
G.) Chemical alterations, vulcanizing, tire softening, defacing and/or altering the face of the tire lettering and/or tire stamping will not be permitted. Chemicals or tire softening is not permitted at any time. Tires may be inspected at any time. Any violation with any tire presented for competition may result in immediate disqualification from the events and/or other penalties including but not limited to; loss of money, fine, loss of points and/or suspension.
Penalty / Fine:
- Disqualification from the event
- Fine: $2,000 plus purse money of $13,640 (returned), plus $1,690 tire analysis fees
- Total due – $3,690
- Loss of 1,000 championship and track points
- Suspension from all sanctioned DIRTcar Late Model events, including World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models Series, for thirty (30) consecutive days (June 10 through July 10, 2018) or a total of four DIRTcar-sanctioned events where scheduled to race. (COMPLETED)
- Placed on probation until December 31, 2018
- Any subsequent violations may result in a higher fine schedule and/or additional loss of points and/or suspension (including indefinite) and/or parking of the team
The appellate board heard the appeal and were unanimous in the decision.
As a member in good standing, per Section 12 of the series rulebook, a request for review by the Chairman Potestas may be considered.

C'est par une chaleur suffocante que 17 voitures ont pris le départ pour cette finale de 200 tours divisée en deux segments dans le cadre du Café Cosmos 200. Les amateurs présents ont eu droit à un spectacle relevé et des batailles pour les huit premières positions du début à la fin, tout particulièrement lors du deuxième segment.
Partant quatrième, Jean-François Déry n'a pris que quatre tours pour imposer son rythme tout en mettant de la pression sur le meneur Patrick Cliche qui montre beaucoup de rapidité. Les Kingsbury, Trépanier, Bouvrette, Goulet, Ouellette et Roussin les suivent de près.
Au 90ième passage, lors d'un arrêt obligatoire pour essence, mécanique et changement de pneus libres, Bouvrette et Roussin gardent les mêmes pneus et partent premier et deuxième. Cliche repart septième suivi de Déry, Kingburyet Trépanier. Encore là Déry s'impose rapidement, rattrape Roussin au 95ième passage pour le dépasser au tour suivant et continue sa remontée pour prendre la tête au 101ième passage.
Et là les huit premiers nous en mettre plein la vue. Ils roulent à un train d'enfer avec du côte à côte avec les Déry et Bouvrette, Roussin et Kingsbury, Goulet et Cliche. Goulet remonte graduellement. Lors d'une neutralisation au 160ième tour Roussin entre aux puits pour changement de pneus et six tours plus tard il revient dans le peloton de tête précédé de Trépanier, Goulet, Bouvrette et Déry.
Lors de la relance au 184ième tour, Martin Goulet Jr s'impose avec sa voiture neuve et s'installe derrière Déry avec 10 tours à faire et chauffe Déry pare choc à pare choc et Bouvrette suit de près. Un dernier dix tours époustouflants qui amène Jean-François Déry #21Qc de Québec sur la première marche du podium pour une 3ièmefois consécutive. Il est suivi de Martin Goulet Jr # 83Qc de St-Calixte, Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville, Dany Trépanier #19 de St-Édouard, Simon Roussin #6 de Québec, Patrick Cliche #5 de Lévis, Mathieu Kingsbury #9 de Blainville et de Pier-Luc Ouellette #48 de Terrebonne.
À souligner particulièrement la magnifique performance de Simon Roussin!

Avec 13 camionnettes en piste, cette finale de 50 tours a permis à Steve Simoneau #46 de Québec de gravir la première marche du podium mais sans peine. Suivi de près par Réjean Blanchet #7 de Québec qui a tout fait, soit par l'intérieur, par l'extérieur ou lors des relances pour le rattraper, prend la troisième position.
La remontée du jour revient à Martin Bisson de Saints-Anges, qui cinquième au 15ième passage, remonte graduellement pour dépasser les Jimmy Roy #97, Sylvain Lemieux #97,5, Stéphan Lecours #100,5 et ensuite le #7 de Réjean Blanchet pour terminer deuxième. Un peloton de cinq qui ont offert un bon spectacle.
SPORT COMPACT ÉLITE ORICOM
Également treize voitures lors de cette finale de 50 tours divisée en deux segments de 25 tours qui a permis à Tommy Larouche #14 de St-Renée en Beauce de remporter sa première victoire en Sport Compact Élite Oricom.
<Ma voiture était à point et était soudée à la piste> de déclarer Tommy après sa victoire. Il a été suivi de Steve Godbout #75 de Québec et de Maxime Gagné #17 de Montmagny. Olivier Labbé-Pelletier #110 de St-Isidore termine quatrième, suivi du #9 de Pascal Turgeon. Une finale où les huit premiers nous ont montré habilité et rapidité avec respect tout au cours des 50 tours.
Un grand merci aux pilotes, spectateurs et tout le personnel qui ont bravé cette chaude température pour vivre leurpassion!

The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – signed-in at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval – Saturday, July 21st – as part of the Mid-Summer Bash at Peterborough Speedway.
Randy Hollingsworth and Chris Mulders – who was subbing from Craig Stevenson at the controls of the #90m machine – were on the front row and brought the field to the green flag. Hollingsworth – who scored his first career asphalt win with heat race victory earlier in the night – led the opening stages, before Chad Strawn took over the top spot with 4 laps complete. A 3-wide battle for the runner-up spot was being waged through the second turn but the pace was slowed for a turn 3 caution with 8 circuits on the board.
Strawn kept the lead on the restart, but there was still plenty of strong racing going-on deeper in the pack as John Baker Jr. moved into second on lap 9. Brad Stevenson grabbed 3rd spot just before halfway, but it was his teammate Chad Strawn who claimed his second Peterborough Speedway win on the 2018 season. Anthony DiBello and Josh Gruntz completed the top 5. Rob Warnes, Mulders, Hollingsworth, Willow Barberstock, Bob Franks, Rick Warnes and Ray Anthony rounded-out the finishing order.
OMRS qualifying heat race wins went to Brad Stevenson, John Baker Jr., Randy Hollingsworth and Anthony DiBello.
Ontario Modifieds Racing Series notebook: 13 teams were scheduled to take the green flag in the 25 lap main event. The #69 machine of Craig Scott experienced mechanical issues earlier in the night and was unable to answer the call…Newcomer Ray Anthony was on hand in a #96 machine that he purchased about a week earlier. He contacted tour officials through their Facebook page to ask about getting his feet wet with some laps at the back of the field. The night came to an end when he was collected in the lap 8 incident and needed to be towed to the pits…Next on the schedule, teams return to Flamboro Speedway for a Saturday, August 4th event.
