Shannonville (ON), January 26, 2022 – RACE Events is pleased to confirm that the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Pirelli is gearing up for the 2022 season and unveiling its upcoming program.
After a long pandemic disruption, CTCC is seeing increased positive engagement from its partners and teams. The Series is proud to announce that it will return to the track and commence the 2022 campaign at its home track, Shannonville Motorsport Park.
The CTCC presented by Pirelli 2022 championship will be featuring a five-event calendar and a multi-class structure featuring TCR and GTSport cars. As the exclusive TCR-sanctioned series in Canada, CTCC is thrilled to showcase the tight competition brought on by TCR teams. The series is committed to helping Canadian drivers shine through this unique international platform featuring TCR-certified race cars. In addition, the GTS1 and GTS2 categories will continue to include a variety of production high performance touring and sports cars. This diverse field of production cars has been the flagship of the championship since 2007.
Come Spring, and with further easing of restrictions, teams and motorsports fans will be able to resume their summer activities and enjoy on-track motorsports. Additionally, as border crossing guidelines shift, travel to US tracks will be more viable.

NEW MOTORAMA DATES: APRIL 29, 30 & MAY 1, 2022!
As you may have heard, we've been able to move the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo back seven full weeks. This will give ample time for Omicron to subside and for the Province of Ontario to fully reopen from its most recent – and likely final – lockdown period. Motorama will take place April 29, 30 & May 1 at Toronto's International Centre.
It's been a very long two weeks years to flatten the curve, but it's looking like the pandemic will soon be largely behind us!
Looking ahead, we're extremely excited about this year's show! In the days since we confirmed the date change, the reaction has been amazing! Several exhibitors have reached out to reserve space, including those who had taken a 'wait and see' approach. And individual car owners and clubs have registered many incredible vehicles.
If you had booked booth space or your vehicle had been accepted – prior to the date change announcement – you don't need to do anything. You're good to go. We'll be in touch, shortly, with new information regarding move-in dates and times.
If you have not yet signed up as an exhibitor or car owner, you should do so ASAP. There is still some space available, but it's clear that the industry and community are eager to get back to Motorama, and the floorplan is filling up quickly. The show is going to be jam-packed with incredible custom cars, hot rods, tuners, classics, exotics, trucks and racing vehicles of all kinds!

Jeremy Kelly Rides a Rocket to the 2021 Peterborough Mini Stock Title

When the final point standings are calculated at the end of the regular season, pride and bragging rights are the ultimate rewards for a local racer's success.
After claiming back-to-back 4Fun/Bone Stock titles in 2016 and 2017, Jeremy Kelly made the move to the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock ranks to kick-off the 2019 schedule and won rookie of the year that same season. While it took a couple of seasons to adjust to the new division, the 34-year-old filmmaker who lives in downtown Peterborough quickly found his niche and clinched the 2021 track championship – by a scant, 1 point margin over Ryan Oosterholt – with a feature win on the final night of the regular season to seal the deal. Kelly says he still finds spending Saturday nights with his family and friends at the venue known as Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval is still a lot of fun.
"I'm very thankful for the support of my parents Teresa Kelly, Glen Harrington and Blair Kelly. Its also great to race with my teammates including my brother Jake and Johnny Bates," admitted the driver. "I have to thank my girlfriend Jess Weitz for her encouragement, along with J.P., Dave and the team at the track for their hard work at putting everything together so we could be back at the track."
Kelly says he appreciates what he calls the 'Mom n' Pop' sponsors in the community – including Kirk Norris of Desjardins Insurance, Ranger Construction, Impact Communications, Tyler Junkin & TMC Motorsports, Stay Classy Racing, Connelly's Minute Muffler, Parnell Motorsports, Poked by Tony & Mike's Tattoo – that back his No. 80 machine and help him live out his boyhood racing dream.

There really isn't an off-season for hometown racetrack operators. They might take a day off here and there, but as quickly as one year's line-up comes to an end, they start making plans for the next. That's the case for owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse and the management team at Peterborough Speedway. They're looking forward to potentially kicking-off the 2022 schedule on the Victoria Day holiday weekend in May.
"We still have a lot of work to be done before the next green flag but I think we're in a very good place," said Josiasse. "Things should be good to go for the next season. We'll have our regular weekly classes returning and talks are also starting with some of our special guest divisions to find some dates in our 2022 plans."

Chief Legal Counsel Becomes First NASCAR Representative to Serve as FIA Judge
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2022) – Gary Crotty, NASCAR Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Counsel, has been elected by the FIA General Assembly as one of 36 judges to serve on the FIA Courts. A member of the NASCAR Board of Directors, Crotty is the first NASCAR representative to serve in this capacity. Crotty's term, which began on Jan. 1, 2022, runs through Dec. 31, 2025.
"It is an honor to be recognized and named to this prestigious post," said Crotty. "I thank the members of the FIA General Assembly for placing its faith in me, and look forward to serving. It is one of the true highlights of my career."
As a FIA judge, Crotty may be appointed to sit on the FIA International Tribunal or International Court of Appeal. The International Tribunal is the first instance level of jurisdiction of the FIA and can hear disciplinary matters brought before it by the FIA President. The FIA International Court of Appeal is the appeal level of jurisdiction of the FIA and hears appeals of decisions taken by various sporting and disciplinary bodies, such as stewards or the FIA International Tribunal. The FIA International Tribunal and International Court of Appeal act independently from the other FIA bodies and the FIA Members.
"Gary Crotty is an outstanding choice for this distinguished position," said Jim France, NASCAR Chairman and CEO. "Gary has served NASCAR with passion and care for more than two decades, and has a well-deserved reputation as a strong voice for fairness and process. We thank the FIA General Assembly for recognizing Gary, and by extension, NASCAR. They have chosen the right person for this honor."
Crotty joined NASCAR as Secretary and General Counsel in 1996 and was named to the Board of Directors in 2006. He oversees the company's legal department located in the corporate headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida. Crotty received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1985 and his law degree from the University of Florida in 1988. Upon graduating from Florida he entered private practice specializing in general and commercial law. From 1990-91, he attended New York University, receiving a Master's Degree in taxation law.
"I have worked alongside Gary Crotty for more than 20 years, and know him to be an honest and steadfast leader," said George Silbermann, President of the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States (ACCUS), the National Sporting Authority of the FIA for the US. "Gary will use his decades of experience and vast breadth of knowledge in this role. He is fair, thoughtful and possesses a strong passion and knowledge for motorsports."

Brad Moran Named NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director;
Seth Kramlich to Camping World Truck Series Managing Director
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2022) – NASCAR today announced that Brad Moran has been promoted to NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director and Seth Kramlich will transition to the role of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Managing Director.
Both Moran and Kramlich enter their new positions following years of experience managing racing series at the national level. Most recently, Moran held the position of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Managing Director. Kramlich moves to his new role after three years as NASCAR Xfinity Series Assistant Director. Moran, Kramlich and NASCAR Xfinity Series Managing Director Wayne Auton will continue to be headquartered at the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, N.C., and report to Scott Miller, Senior Vice President of Competition.
"Brad and Seth both share a racer's mentality, and will bring knowledge, passion and strong relationships to these important roles," Miller said. "We look forward to their leadership as they continue to help bring the best racing to our fans at both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series levels."
With over 30 years of experience in the motorsports industry, Moran joined NASCAR in December 2008 to oversee all of NASCAR's touring series. The Canada native moved to the helm of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in July of 2016, guiding the series through its first season of the playoff format. Previously, Moran was the Series Director for Canada's NASCAR Pinty's Series for four seasons and was the owner of Barrie (Ont.) Speedway for seven seasons.
"The entire competition team is incredibly strong at the NASCAR Cup Series level, and I look forward to helping them grow the series at this exciting time in our sport," Moran said. "As we introduce the Next Gen car and continue to promote the outstanding talent and personalities at NASCAR's top level, I'm honored to help shepherd the series alongside this experienced group of teammates."
Kramlich, who joined NASCAR in 2014 after working at Evergreen (Wash.) Speedway, transitions to his new role after being named the Assistant Series Director of the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2019. Prior to that role, he held various positions within NASCAR competition working with key officials in Racing Operations and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, including under the leadership of four former truck series directors.
"My NASCAR roots are with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, so it is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to return to one of the best series in all of NASCAR," Kramlich said. "The Camping World Truck drivers, teams and fans are incredibly passionate about racing, and I'm honored to be chosen to help guide this great series."
Moran joins a strong team in the NASCAR Cup Series garage with Kip Childress as Assistant Series Director and Carl Goodman, who will manage the technical inspections of the Next Gen race car. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will see Jesse Dollevoet remain in his role as the Assistant Series Director and Brad Houk continuing in the technical role. Wayne Auton and Eric Peterson will continue to lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series garage.

Mason Massey to Compete in Majority of Xfinity Series Races for DGM Racing in 2022

On Wednesday morning (Dec. 15), DGM Racing announced Mason Massey will drive for the team during the 2022 Xfinity Series season, becoming the primary driver of the No. 91 Chevrolet.
The announcement comes a few weeks after Josh Williams departed the team, announcing he signed with BJ McLeod Motorsports.
Massey comes to the DGM Racing with 23 Xfinity Series starts over the last two seasons. The 24-year-old made his series debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February of 2020, finishing 29th for BJ McLeod Motorsports. Since then, he's earned a trio of top-20 finishes, including his career best of 17th in September at Richmond Raceway.
"I'm pumped to be working with Mario and the entire DGM Racing team," Massey said in a statement. "It's a family-run race team, and that aligns with the way my family and I have always raced."
Twenty-two of Massey's 23 career starts came under the BJMM banner. Last September at Darlington Raceway, he finished 18th for Rick Ware Racing, which at the time was his best career result.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Mason to the DGM Family," Mario Gosselin, team owner of DGM, said in a team release. "During the offseason, we made many strategic changes to our facilities and equipment that allow us to strengthen and improve DGM Racing. With Mason's impressive track record and our recent upgrades, we are ready to tackle the 2022 season."
Massey has been racing competitively since the age of 5, winning more than 200 races, 11 championships and 10 track records across multiple series, including the US Legends Pro National Championship.
DGM Racing plans on fielding at least two full-time teams for the 2022 season. Massey's crew chief and sponsorship lineup will be announced at a late date.

Devil's Bowl Speedway 2022 Schedule Full of Highlights
Short Track Super Series debuts June 19; new Rookie Sportsman division created

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway is already prepared for the 2022 dirt track racing season to start. The historic Vermont track has announced the event lineup for its 56th season, which will once again run primarily on Saturday nights, from May 7 to September 24. In addition to the schedule, Devil's Bowl promoter Mike Bruno officially announced the creation of a new "Rookie Sportsman" division to be added to the weekly lineup.
Among the schedule's many highlights, Devil's Bowl Speedway fans will welcome the exciting Short Track Super Series Modifieds for the first time on June 19, and they will once again be the home crowd for the country's highest-paying Sportsman Modified race as the "Vermont 200" returns on Labor Day weekend, September 3-4. The Enduro Series will have seven events beginning on May 14, the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series will finally return on July 23, and special interactive fan promotions will highlight the season, with the possibility of more special races or touring series to be added during the season.
A change in 2021 to weekly Saturday-night events with a Sunday rain date proved to be wildly successful, resulting in an influx of new drivers and teams. Bruno believes that his program will continue to grow in 2022, and the new Rookie Sportsman class is indicative of that. Early estimates show around 15 eligible teams that will ease the current overload of the Limited Sportsman division, which exploded in 2021 to average 33 cars per event. Drivers must meet certain levels of experience-related criteria to be placed in either the Limited or Rookie fields.
"We have great momentum at Devil's Bowl right now," Bruno said. "I'll never complain about having too many racecars and I'll never take that support for granted, but we had to give the Limited Sportsman racers a fair shake, and the new Rookie division will do that. We want to keep rewarding our racers and fans with great action at affordable prices. I'm excited for 2022 already, and I wish we didn't have to sit through the winter and wait!"
The season begins on Saturday, May 7, with a regular-distance 30-lap "draw race" for Sportsman Modifieds paying a whopping $3,000 to win. The weekly Limited Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock, and 500cc Mini Sprint divisions will also open their seasons, along with the new Rookie Sportsman class.
For the second year in a row, the first major event will be the "Northeast Crate Nationals" on Memorial Day weekend. Weekly support divisions will run their qualifying and features on Saturday night, May 28, and the Sportsman Modified division will have a one-day show on Sunday, May 29, to include all qualifying and the 100-lap, $5,000-to-win main event. The Sprint Cars of New England tour will also be in town on Sunday.
The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Modifieds will make their first Devil's Bowl appearance on Sunday, June 19, as the Brett Deyo-led tour comes to Devil's Bowl Speedway for the "Slate Valley 50." The event will pay $10,000 to win and $500 to start, and it is expected to draw the top names in dirt racing including 2021 STSS champions Matt Sheppard and Mike Mahaney. The Slate Valley 50 will mark the northernmost STSS race in history and its first in Vermont or any of the six New England states.
Independence Day weekend will once again bring about Devil's Bowl Speedway's famous fireworks show on Saturday, July 2. The event will be jam-packed with racing as the SCoNE Sprint Cars return, all six weekly divisions will compete, and the wild-and-wacky Enduro Series will crank up the excitement.
The fan-favorite "Battle at the Bowl" returns on Sunday, August 7. The event offers local fans a second glimpse of the stars of dirt Big Block/Small Block Modified racing, with an independently-sanctioned show featuring a unique, three-feature format and a $10,000 top prize. The feature winner list at the 2021 Battle at the Bowl included Sheppard, Stewart Friesen, and Anthony Perrego.
The fifth annual "Vermont 200" will be the center of attention on Labor Day Weekend, and Devil's Bowl Speedway will once again pay the biggest purse of the year for the General Motors "602" crate engine-powered Sportsman Modified division. Zach Sobotka won the 2021 edition and captured nearly $13,000 in winnings after defeating a field of 62 entries. The Vermont 200 is a one-day show for Sportsman teams, as all qualifying and the 200-lap main event will be held on Sunday, September 4, with support from the SCoNE Sprint Cars. All local divisions will have qualifying and feature races on Saturday, September 3.
Devil's Bowl Speedway's 56th season of racing wraps up with Championship Night on Saturday, September 24, as the title winners will be crowned in all divisions. The Enduro Series will close the year in bone-jarring style with a 100-lap finale at the end of the night.
Competitor registration forms and membership licenses are available, and information for season passes for both general admission grandstand seating and the pit area will be revealed soon.

Excitement continues to build as the 2022 schedule at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval draws closer. With less than a month to go before Christmas, track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse is pleased to announce that the popular APC Auto Parts Pro Late Model Series will make its much anticipated return to Peterborough Speedway.
For the first time since 2018, the top teams on the tour will head back to the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road and will be joined by their racing cousins from the Super Stock series that ran in 2021 under the Qwick Wick banner for a Saturday, June 18th twin bill presented by KOD Disposal. Josiasse says the promotional team has been putting in some long hours to bring all the details together and he's certain fans and race teams alike will be happy with the news.
"The Pro Late Models have been a fixture at the Autumn Colours Classic for a number of years and during the 4 years the APC Series was part of our schedule, they always put on an amazing show," said Josiasse. "Our fans have been looking to have this tour return and after a couple of lean years because of COVID-19, this is a step in the right direction toward getting things back on track for the new season."
Multi-time Peterborough Speedway track champion Dan McHattie finished 3rd in 2015's inaugural APC Pro Late Model run, while Andrew Gresel logged efforts of 3rd in 2016 and 2017. He was 4th in 2018. Shawn Chenoweth was the race winner during the first 2 events, with Brandon Watson – the tour's all-time win leader – claiming the checkered flag in 2017 and 2018.

Annual awards celebration revitalized in new location

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Devil's Bowl Speedway officials are excited to announce the revival of the annual Banquet of Champions on Saturday, January 22. The celebration will honor the top competitors and award winners of the 2021 stock car racing season in a stunning new location, at the Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs in the historic Upstate New York city.
The Banquet of Champions is open for drivers, family and team members, fans, sponsors, and officials to attend. After a year off due to the pandemic, and with a fresh new destination location, the highly-anticipated event is expected to have a welcome return. A cocktail reception precedes the awards ceremony and a buffet dinner will highlight the night, which concludes with music and dancing.
Track champions will officially be crowned in each of Devil's Bowl Speedway's weekly racing divisions, led by Orwell, Vt.'s Tim LaDuc, who earned his first track championship in 21 years in the headline Sportsman Modified class, and the third overall title of his career.
Bridport, Vt.'s Troy Audet will collect the O'Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman crown after an impressive first season aboard a Modified car, and Fair Haven, Vt.'s Chris Murray will bring home his third Super Stock championship. Ripton, Vt.'s Chris Sumner will wrap up his first Mini Stock championship and Orwell, Vt.'s Ray Hanson tops off his dominant run in the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprint class. Barnstead, N.H.'s Clay Dow will also be honored for his title in the three-race 360 Sprint Car championship.
In addition to the championship hardware, trophies and point fund money will be distributed to more than 60 eligible drivers, and a roster of special award winners will also be announced. The recipients of the Dedication Award, the Devil's Bowl Speedway Award of Excellence, and the prestigious John Bruno Award – the speedway's highest honor – will each be revealed, as will the driver-voted Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver awards.
Devil's Bowl Speedway has named a total of 40 nominees for its annual Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver awards. Up to six drivers in each of the track's five weekly divisions are nominated by track officials to each category, with the winning drivers decided by a vote of their peers. The Sportsmanship Award goes to a driver in each division who displays a consistent commitment to competitiveness, fairness, and respect. The Most Improved Driver Award is given to someone who has made noticeable progress in their on-track competitiveness.
Fifteen drivers are nominated in both categories for their respective divisions including Sportsman Modified racers Tanner Siemons, Justin Stone, Marty Kelly III, and rookie Johnny Bruno.
Appearing on the ballot for both awards in the Limited Sportsman class are champion Audet, Austin Comes, Evan Roberts, and Mike McGinn. Paul Braymer and Chuck Bradford find themselves on both Super Stock ballots, and the 500cc Mini Sprint doubles are Scott Bachand, Roger LaDuc, John Smith, and rookies Gage Provencher and Vern Woodard; the Mini Stock division has six different nominees in each category.
The Banquet of Champions will be held on Saturday, January 22, at the Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs. Doors open for a cocktail reception at 4:00 p.m. and awards begin at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $55 for adults (age 13+) or $35 for children (age 12 and under) and include free off-street parking.
