Dès suite d’un accident de motoneige, sa vie ne serait pas en danger. Il sera à l’hôpital pour les 3 prochaines semaines et par la suite il aura une réhabilitation de 3 à 6 mois. Avec seulement 2 mois avant le début des courses de stock car, il est facile de croire qu’il ne sera probablement pas en piste en 2010. Hamel la recrue 2008 du circuit québécois avait fait tourner les têtes dans la deuxième moitié de la saison de 2009 en affichant de solides performances termiant 2, 4, 9, 3 et 9e.
