Bond Auto to Sponsor American-Canadian Tour Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. - They provide the parts that create a winning ride and now they'll be there in victory lane no matter who wins the American-Canadian Tour race on Saturday, September 22.  New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today that Bond Auto, a New England based full service auto parts retail and wholesale store, will be the title sponsor for the ACT Invitational during the fall NASCAR weekend. 

 

The Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational will be part of "The Magic Mile's" short track Saturday Showdown during the SYLVANIA 300 weekend. The thrilling day features, NASCAR's K&N Pro Series East New Hampshire 100 and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour F.W. Webb 100. Last year, it was Rowley, Mass. native Eddie MacDonald who raced his way from 25th to first in just a few laps, capturing the checkered flag.

RAY JUNIOR COURTEMANCHE TO TEST AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

The Montreal-based driver prepares for his debut race in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, to be run on March 16 at the notoriously difficult race track.

 

Montréal, 22 Fév. 2012 – En préparation pour sa participation à une course de la série NASCAR K&N Series sur cette piste, le 16 mars prochain,  Ray Junior Courtemanche et son équipe Danam Bonzaï Racing seront à pied d'œuvre lors des essais officiels NASCAR prévus pour le 27 février au légendaire Bristol Motor Speedway.

 

Ray Junior trépigne d'impatience. « Le demi-mille de Bristol, avec ses virages relevés à plus de 30 degrés, présente un challenge unique pour l'équipe et pour moi. La vitesse en piste et l'intensité du pilotage en font la piste la plus intense à piloter sur tout le circuit NASCAR. »  L'équipe et le pilote devront établir des repères et des réglages de base pour ce circuit unique et des plus rapides, afin d'arriver à la course prêts à rouler fort et établir de bons chronos, comme les font les habitués de cette piste.

 

Le gratin des pilotes NASCAR d'autres séries tourneront aussi lors de la journée d'essais. Ray Junior anticipe une journée occupée. « En plus d'apprendre la piste et la machine de DGM Racing, je me promets d'observer les pilotes habitués à Bristol, afin d'accélérer ma compréhension du tracé idéal dans les virages.  Les 20 années d'expérience de DGM Racing me permettront aussi d'accélérer mon apprentissage. »

 

Cette expérience promet d'aider Ray Junior à commencer la série NASCAR Canadian Tire 2012 mieux préparé à affronter les loups tels qu'Andrew Ranger et autres Terry Micks, et surtout, battre les autres recrues en piste.

Montreal, February 22, 2012 – Starting out in a new series, in a different race car, against unknown competitors and at the most challenging race track on the NASCAR scene is, to say the least, a tall order. Driver Ray Junior Courtemanche and his Danam Bonzaï Racing team will begin their learning curve this coming February 27 at the legendary racetrack.

 

Ray Junior can't wait to hit the track "The half-mile Bristol track, with its high banked corners and high speeds is a unique challenge for me and for the team. The short straights and high speeds make it the most intense race track in North America, almost like racing on a short Kart track with 650 hp and 1400kg to muscle around."  Driver and Team need to pick reference points for the ideal line on the track and determine the best possible suspension settings, so that pre-race practice and qualifying will focus on fine tuning for the race just like those who know the track will be doing, rather than finding base settings.

 

The best drivers from other NASCAR series will also practice on that day. Ray Junior expects to be very busy the whole day. "In addition to learning the track and how the DGM Racing Chevrolet works, I will be watching how the other driver drive the track to get quick times. I also expect the guys at DGM Racing to share their 20 years of experience to help me get around the place as quickly as possible."

 

That extra race early in the season is sure to help Ray Junior hit the ground « running » as he starts his first full season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire 2012 Series, where the competition, led by the likes of Andrew Ranger and hard-driving veteran Terry Micks will not make life easy for the rookie driver in his quest for top rookie honours at the end of the 2012 season.

PATRICK LEPORÉ FAIT LE SAUT SPORTSMAN-ANCA EN 2012 !

Multiple Champion stock car en catégorie Production ANCA

 

La saison 2012 en sera une de transition pour le pilote de Mirabel, PATRICK LEPORÉ, le double Champion (2010 et 2011) de la catégorie Production, puisque la voiture #12 évoluera dans la catégorie reine de l'Autodrome St-Eustache, les Sportsman ANCA.

 

« La voiture est présentement en préparation aux ateliers de Morin Performance. Des améliorations au châssis sont les principaux items qui seront effectués avec le remplacement des « clips » avant et arrière du châssis original GM métrique. » de préciser Leporé en ajoutant qu'un moteur GM 602 fait aussi partie des améliorations qui seront apportées à cette voiture qui a connu ses heures de gloire lorsque Guy Jubinville la pilotait du temps où elle portait une carrosserie de camionnette.

 

Il n'est pas exclu également que sa voiture de l'an passé fasse quelques apparitions dans la catégorie Production au cours de la saison qui vient.

 

Patrick Leporé ajoute que la venue d'un commanditaire majeur serait la bienvenue pour disposer d'un peu plus de budget.

 

« La Coupe Master Sportsman Canada/USA, une série de 6 courses entre les pilotes américains de Plattsburgh et ceux de l'Autodrome St-Eustache, en sols canadien et américain,  fait également partie de mon plan de match… » de renchérir le sympatique pilote qui a la ferme intention de s'imposer et de « prendre sa place » en piste aux commandes de son nouveau bolide.

 

IL NE SERA PAS SEUL !!!

Au moins deux autres pilotes de la division PRODUCTION feront le saut en Sportsman ANCA. En effet, SYLVAIN CONTANT, de Mascouche, le pilote de la voiture #91 prendra possession dès le 23 février d'une voiture avec châssis tubulaire Morin d'un pilote de la région de la vieille capitale, tandis qu’un autre pilote de Mascouche, MARTIN FAUTEUX graduera dans la « grosse classe » avec une voiture acquise d'Isabelle Tremblay tout récemment. On reparlera de ces deux pilotes sous peu.

 

4 RECRUES À DATE

Si on ajoute ces 3 pilotes Production à NEIL LEBLOND, de Gatineau, qui pilotait une Légende Modifiée auparavant, et qui s'est porté acquéreur d'une voiture Sportsman de Plattsburgh, ce n'est pas moins de 4 recrues, en date d'aujourd'hui, qui se sont inscrits en Sportsman ANCA pour 2012, et si on additionne le tout aux pilotes de Plattsburgh qui ont signifié leur intérêt pour les Sportsman ANCA pour la prochaine saison, on est en droit de croire que le peloton de cette catégorie pourrait être des plus intéressants pour la saison estivale 2012.

 

Les pilotes Sportsman  seront en piste le 28 avril prochain, lors de la journée porte ouverte de l’Autodrome St-Eustache, et lors de la première course de la Coupe Master Sportsman Canada USA à Plattsburgh, NY le 12 mai avant de revenir à St-Eustache pour l’ouverture officielle le 19 mai.

Tagliani Successfully Completes Test at Texas Motor Speedway

Fort Worth, TX - February 22, 2012 - After a day of waiting on Monday for track weepers to dry at Texas Motor Speedway, Alex Tagliani and the Lotus test team were ready to hit the 1.5-mile oval on Tuesday.

The test marked the second chance in as many months for the Canadian driver to continue learning the new features of the Lotus-powered Dallara DW12. With only three install laps completed on day one, the second outing brought better results as the Lotus test team, comprised of members from Team Barracuda - BHA, Lotus HVM Racing and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, completed 132 incident-free laps.

 

"Overall, I think it was a good day," said Tagliani. "For our first time on an oval in the new car, we learned some amazing things. Of course, we still have some work to do and we didn't have as much speed as we would have liked, but every time I came into the pits with a change, the guys were able to make it happen.

"I am so thankful and proud to be working with this amazing group of guys. Plus, this is the track where Todd [Malloy] and I had a great event last season, so we kind of started today where we left off."

Tagliani also noted that the Lotus group was helpful and positive. He added, "They were receptive to the things we need to improve. It's great to work with people like that."

Now, it's onto the next test with an exciting twist. The official unveiling of the Team Barracuda - BHA car is scheduled for next Tuesday, February 28, during the team's test at Barber Motorsports Park. Media is encouraged to attend. After that, Tagliani and his crew head to the IZOD IndyCar Series open test in Sebring, FL.

On March 25, the season kicks off on the streets of St. Petersburg, FL, where Tagliani has his sights set on Victory Lane. Fans can watch all the action live on ABC.

3M, USG And Freescale Add Special Awards To 2012 NASCAR Contingency Program

Contingency Partners Continue Support Of NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Teams With Per­ Race and Year­-End Awards

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2012) – As teams make final preparations to start the 2012 race season, the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) announced the lineup of 2012 NASCAR Contingency Program sponsors for all three national series.

 

The NASCAR Contingency Program is administered by the Charlotte, N.C. ­based NASCAR Automotive Group. The program strives to build strong relationships with high­ quality, performance­ driven brands that are leaders in their respective categories, and award money to NASCAR teams via per ­race and year-end awards. Competitors become eligible for prize money by displaying sponsor decals on the front fender of their race cars and trucks. In some instances, use of a sponsor’s product is also required.

 

Three new special awards highlight the 2012 contingency program award lineup. This season, longtime NASCAR Official Partner and Roush Fenway Racing primary sponsor 3M will present the 3M Lap Leader Award in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and NASCAR Nationwide Series. The award will go to the eligible driver who leads the most laps in each race throughout the season. DEREK WHITE TRUCKIN' AT DAYTONA

February 21, 2011.  Former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Rookie of the Year Derek White is teaming with Hackett Racing to compete in the season opening Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway.  White will pilot the #76 Warrior Gaming Associates Ford for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 this Friday February 24th.

 

Derek White very pleased with this opportunity driving the #76 Warrior Gaming Associates Truck and competing in his first event at Daytona.  “It’s been great to work with the team and my Crew Chief Kevin Eagle” said White.  “I got to know everyone at Hackett Racing last year and they’ve all worked really hard to get ready for this race” he added.

 

The excitement of racing on the high banks at Daytona Speedway for the first time could be intimidating but White is anxious to hit the track.  “This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time” said White.  “When I hit the track for practice I’ll be smiling, but I’ll also be 100 percent focused on the job of getting ready for qualifying to make the race” he stated. 

 

White is no stranger to tough competition.  The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series where he competed and won the 2010 Rookie of the Year award despite missing one event.  Last season in a limited schedule White opened plenty of eyes at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres where on a rain soaked course he posted a career best seventh place finish after starting 21st.  “There are a lot of talented drivers in the Canadian Tire Series” said White.  “It’s great to compete against those guys every weekend”.

 

As a resident of Kahnawake, Quebec Derek White is equally proud to be displaying the Native owned Warrior Gaming Associates logo on the #76 Ford Truck.  Warrior Gaming Associates manufactures gaming machines.  “I’m proud of this is a new partnership in racing and I’m hoping it continues for a very long time” said White. 

   

Practice for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 begins Thursday February 23rd at 12:10PM with final practice at 6PM.  Qualifying will be on Friday February 24th at 4:05 and the green flag for the opening race of the Camping World Truck Series drops at 7:30PM.  Race fans in Canada and the US can watch the race live on SPEED TV.

 

Derek White will be fielding a full time entry in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2012 with Steve Cote as driver and is also planning to participate in several events himself.

SÉRIE SPORTSMAN - MALTAIS SOUHAITE REVENIR À TEMPS PLEIN

Québec, QC (20 février 2012) – Le pilote de stock-car Jean-François Maltais de Lévis est le douzième pilote à avoir confirmé sa participation au championnat de stock-car de la Série Sportsman Québec 2012.

 

« Au fil des dernières années, j'ai participé que sporadiquement aux courses de stock-car.  J'ai dû choisir mes épreuves faute de temps et d'équipier » déclara Jean-François.  Maltais un préposé dans un centre hospitalier de la région de Québec, a tout de même trouvé le temps de compétitionner en stock-car la saison dernière.  Il a participé à 4 courses et a réussi à enregistrer 1 top-10.

« Si les choses s'alignaient, je pourrais faire toute la saison.  Je sais que je pourrais être compétitif.  D'ailleurs le retour à la piste de Sanair m'enchante, j'y ai participé avec succès en 2006.  Par la suite, en 2007,  j'ai réalisé ma meilleure saison terminant 3e au classement cumulatif » exprima Maltais.  Pour la saison 2012, sa sixième dans la série, il sera associé au constructeur-préparateur DGR de St-Jean-de-Chrysostome.

Selon M. André Poulin, président de la Série Sportsman Québec, Jean-François Maltais est le genre de pilote que toute série voudrait voir sur une base régulière.  Il est respecté des autres pilotes et aligne toujours une voiture compétitive.  « Jean-François a un très bon coup de volant.  Il réussit très bien avec des moyens limités.  S'il arrivait à obtenir un peu plus d'aide d'équipiers et financiers, il pourrait faire le championnat au complet et être un sérieux prétendant au titre de champion. »

RACE DISTANCE EXTENDED AT PETTY INTERNATIONAL IN AUGUST

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and Petty International Raceway are pleased to announce that the Pro Stock Tour race slated for 100 laps on Saturday, August 25th has now been extended to 150 laps. The Pro Stock Tour race will be the feature event of the 48th running of the River Glade International weekend. Street Stocks and the Maritime League of Legends are scheduled to open for the Pro Stocks on August 25th.

Connected to ARCA's Past, Charlson Has Career Day;

News & Notes from ARCA's Season Opener at Daytona

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Drew Charlson had made just one ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start prior to Saturday's Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.

 

 Last October, he finished an unremarkable 24th at Toledo Speedway, no surprise for a 17-year-old driver making his first competitive laps in the national tour. One year ago, Charlson attempted to qualify at Daytona, but couldn't make the 43-car field.

 

Now 18 - and just eight days past that milestone birthday on Saturday afternoon - Charlson improved upon his career debut and more than made up for last year's failure to start.

 

Charlson charged to the outside as race leader Brandon McReynolds ran out of gas on the final lap of Saturday's race, falling in line just behind Bobby Gerhart and pushing the veteran to a win just as both cars approached the start/finish line. Gerhart's win was his eighth in 25 starts, both Daytona ARCA records, and Charlson earned a runner-up finish that he'll remember forever.

 

"Bobby's spotter (Jason Jarrett) came on and he just said, 'Stick with them, stick with them,'" Charlson said. "I stuck to his bumper and came out of the turn to give him a shove. It's just amazing. This is my second ARCA start. We're just a small team working out of a two-car garage, and I can't thank everyone - Aluma Aluminum Trailers, AgriGold, and Heitkamp Crop Insurance - enough. It was just awesome."

 

With his Lap 83 heroics came the demise of the driver who had led Laps 19-82 - 64 in all: McReynolds.

 

"That's got to be heartbreaking," Charlson said, "to sit in the spot like he did. He led a lot of laps, and I feel for him. That's just the way it goes."

 

Charlson is from New Bremen, Ohio, the same town where sprint car driver Allen Crowe died in a racing accident in 1963. Crowe's name is familiar to many in the ARCA Racing Series; the Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds is the first of ARCA's dirt track races each summer. Likewise, New Bremen Speedway, the track that took Crowe's life, hosted six ARCA events between 1957 and 1973.

 

He plans to run at least two more ARCA events this season.

 

"Right now, we plan on running the Talladega race. Aluma has stepped on board. Their home track is Iowa Speedway, so we're for sure doing those two tracks. Anything's open right now."

 

W. Kimmel Keeps it in One Piece, Earns Award: Will Kimmel's No. 68 Ford stands firmly in the middle ground in the ARCA Racing Series. The family name rings well in ARCA's 60th Anniversary Season, a year celebrating many accomplishments of ARCA's past - including those of Kimmel's father Bill, uncle Frank, and grandfather Bill. Frank is no longer part of the Kimmel Racing bunch, though, having departed for ThorSport Racing early in the offseason. The move leaves Will Kimmel as the face of a team with plenty of fan support and a famed name, but no major sponsor.

 

That mattered little to Will Kimmel on Saturday, though, as he finished third in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.

 

"Unbelievable," Kimmel said. "I feel like we stole that race. It was just unbelievable. Me and my team, we (started) 21st. The car did not draft at all in happy hour; it ran away from other cars. I'm ecstatic now. (Enterprise Software Development) on the quarter panel, Clarksville Schwinn and Crosley, they help out whenever they can, and we have an all-volunteer crew. I'm just happy to be here. We came out of here good."

 

Asked about his plans to carry the Kimmel name forward from a team's perspective in the ARCA Racing Series, the 23-year-old from Sellersburg, Ind. spoke uncertainly about what was next but said he hopes to have a plan soon.

 

"Right now, I'm not sure," he said. "I'm glad we got out of here in one piece and we're going to roll the car back in the trailer, of course. It looks like we're going to go to Mobile. I'm sure we'll figure something out, and run that, and maybe Salem and Talladega. We'll see what happens."

 

Another highlight of Kimmel's day came in one of ARCA's special award categories, as his rise of 18 spots from a 21st-place start gave him the first CGS Imaging Hard Charger of the Race Award for 2012. Bobby Gerhart's 41-position rise is not eligible for the award since he started with a provisional spot.

 

Daytona the Debut for 10: Ryan Reed, driving Venturini Motorsports' No. 15 JDRF Chevrolet, finished best among the 10 drivers making their first career ARCA Racing Series start in Saturday's race. Reed ran second to Brandon McReynolds for much of the afternoon, but finished 12th - still good enough to top fellow debut driver Fain Skinner by three spots.

 

Zach Ralston (18th) and Brandon Davis (19th) each finished in the top 20 while making their maiden ARCA starts.

 

Nelson Canache Jr. (22nd), Paulie Harraka (26th), Larry Barford Jr. (28th), Sloan Henderson (40th), Aleks Gregory (41st), and Bill Coffey (42nd) all made ARCA debuts.

 

Half of Top 10 New to Daytona: In all, 24 of the 43 drivers who started Saturday's race had never competed in an ARCA Racing Series event at Daytona International Speedway before this year.

 

Five of those drivers finished in the top 10, led by Charlson in second. Max Gresham, Brennan Poole, Chris Windom, and Alex Kennedy finished sixth through ninth, respectively.

 

F. Kimmel Disappointed, but Encouraged: Frank Kimmel finished 23rd in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200, the final driver on the lead lap after being penalized for advancing his position below the yellow line just before taking the checkered flag.

 

Kimmel was disappointed to miss his first Daytona victory in his 21st start at the track, and more frustrated with missing a sure top-10 finish because of the official decision. However, his run in the season opener has him feeling confident about his chances in 2012 with his new team, ThorSport Racing.

 

"This definitely wasn't the way we wanted to end this race," said the driver of the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Toyota, in a team press release. "It is an unfortunate situation. We had a good car in practice and the guys really worked their tails off to get this Daytona setup ready for us. This team just became a team six weeks ago, so it's a testament to their hard work that we could bring it home in the top 10. I understand the ruling, and again, it's unfortunate, but it is the sanctioning body's decision. We learned a lot today, and the positive is we're that much more close as a team going into Mobile in March. We'll get after it there."


First Trip to Mobile Next: The next race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards takes place Saturday, March 10 at Mobile International Speedway, and will start at 2 p.m. Mobile will host practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell on Friday, March 9. The event at Mobile will be ARCA's first at the track.

 

2012 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards' 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The complete 2012 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.

 

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. Shootout Eligibility Returns To Its Roots For 2013

2012 Pole Winners, Past Event Winners Will Make Field

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2012) – NASCAR today released the eligibility requirements for the 2013 Shootout at Daytona, an announcement that signals a return to the fan-favorite preseason event’s roots.

 

Next season’s field will consist of 2012 Coors Light Pole winners and past Shootout winners who have attempted to qualify for at least one race during the 2012 season.

 

Eligibility rules for next season’s annual non-points race mirror those from 1979-2008, and puts greater emphasis on each weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coors Light Pole qualifying session.

 

“Fans have expressed their desire to see this event return to its original eligibility rules,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations. “We listened and decided it would be best to return to the eligibility rules of years past adding further meaning to pole qualifying for each NASCAR Sprint Cup race.”

 

This announcement comes prior to 2012’s first qualifying session, adding intrigue to an already important event. Today’s fastest qualifier, in addition to winning the pole for next Sunday’s 54th Annual Daytona 500 (Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. on FOX), will also earn a spot in next year’s Shootout. Two Daytona 500 starting positions will be locked in after today’s qualifying session. The fastest two cars in qualifying will sit on the front row for The Great American Race.

 

Last night, Kyle Busch won his first Shootout at Daytona, locking up a spot in next year’s field. Busch passed defending series champion Tony Stewart in the tri-oval, edging the three-time titlist by a margin of victory of .013 seconds – the closest in Shootout history.

 

Last season, 18 different drivers won a pole.
