ARCA Announces 10-Race SPEED Television Schedule for 2013 Season

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Officials from ARCA and FOX Sports Media Group jointly announced at the International Motorsports Industry Show the 2013 television schedule for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, comprised of 10 events to be televised live or on a same-day delay on SPEED.

 

The 2013 ARCA television schedule will open on SPEED on Saturday, February 16. Live flag-to-flag coverage of ARCA's 50th consecutive annual event at the world-renowned Daytona International Speedway will begin at 4:30 p.m.

 

Other events scheduled for live and/or same-day SPEED coverage in 2013 include races at Talladega Superspeedway on May 3; Toledo Speedway on May 19;Pocono Raceway on June 8 and August 2; Michigan International Speedway on June 14; Chicagoland Speedway on July 21; Iowa Speedway on September 7; Kentucky Speedway on September 20; and the season finale at Kansas Speedway on October 4.

 

ARCA's relationship with SPEED reaches back to April 20, 1997, when the network (then Speedvision) covered the ARCA Racing Series race at Indiana's Salem Speedway. Since then, SPEED has aired 198 ARCA Racing Series events.

 

Year-over-year broadcast ratings spiked in 2012, highlighted by substantial improvements in key demographics. The full season of the ARCA Racing Series finished up +22 percent with households (0.44 vs. 0.36), one tenth or +31 percent with males 35-54 (0.42 vs. 0.32), and +50 percent with males 18-49 (0.24 vs. 0.16) from 2011.  

 

Sweetening the solid story with males 18-49, nine out of 10 races were up year-to-year during the season. Additionally, this was the second most-watched season of ARCA in terms of total viewers since SPEED began subscribing to ratings in 2002 (P2+ impressions), averaging 464,000 viewers for the season; the most-watched season was in 2010 with 608,000 viewers, featuring Danica Patrick's stock car debut). Excluding the February Daytona race, which was down year-over-year, it was the most-watched season of ARCA on SPEED since the network began subscribing to ratings in 2002 with 363,000 total viewers.

 

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned 30 ARCA national champions in 60 seasons since 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 26 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.375 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season.

 

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Having completed its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in four professional touring series - the ARCA Racing Series, the ARCA CRA Super Series, the ARCA Truck Series, and new in 2013, the ARCA Midwest Tour - in addition to local weekly events at Ohio's Toledo Speedway and Michigan's Flat Rock Speedway.

Saturday's Banquet to Recognize Champions from Four ARCA Touring Series

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - For the first time, the champions of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the ARCA CRA Super Series, the ARCA Truck Series, and ARCA's newest partner, the Midwest Tour, will accept recognition for their 2012 accomplishments at one event.

 

 Chris Buescher, Johnny VanDoorn, Levi Mansfield, and Jonathan Eilen will all be on hand at Saturday's ARCA Racing Series Championship Awards Banquet at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. Traditionally, the event honors the ARCA Racing Series champion - Buescher - but new relationships with the Super Series and Midwest Tour in the last 18 months have created a unique opportunity to celebrate the best from each of ARCA's divisions.

 

Buescher, 19 and of Prosper, Texas, won four races and the ARCA Racing Series championship for Roulo Brothers Racing in 2012. The title is the first for both.

 

VanDoorn, 24 and of Coopersville, Mich., is now a three-time ARCA CRA Super Series champion and won the 2012 title for Kaos Motorsports.

 

Mansfield, 26 and of Oakwood, Ohio, won his first ARCA Truck Series championship in 2012 while driving for Kirsch Motorsports.

 

Eilen, 27 and of Hampton, Minn., won the 2012 Midwest Tour championship five years after becoming the series' first race winner. The Midwest Tour connection to ARCA is new this fall, and the 2013 season will be the first in competition for the ARCA Midwest Tour.

 

25-year-old Dakota Carlson of Cedar Springs, Mich. won the ARCA Gold Cup Series championship, but will not attend the Championship Awards Banquet.

 

The four honored drivers are joining a long list of other top ARCA competitors and special award winners at Saturday's event. Those individuals, teams, and key ARCA figures will be honored throughout the night in a celebration featuring a look back at ARCA's first 60 years, vibrant video presentations, and speeches from ARCA's 2012 newsmakers.

PASS Pro Late Model 2013 Schedule Announced

- PASS Pro Late Models To Race In Support Of PASS South Super Late Models In At Least 10 Events

- PASS Pro Late Models To Race At Dillon Motor Speedway 5 Times in 2013



CHARLOTTE, NC (December 5) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials released the 2013 schedule today for the newly enhanced PASS Pro Late Model division. The PASS Pro Late Models will compete throughout the Southeast, with at least 10 events in conjunction with the PASS South Super Late Models. After a successful 2012 season which saw the division start out competing under the Super Limited banner, the newly rebranded Pro Late Models will race in 2013 as a fully fledged PASS sanctioned division.

“I think we have put together a really great schedule of events for the first full season of the PASS Pro Late Model division,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The PASS Pro Late Model division is really unique in the short track racing world and we feel like this is a great place for young talent to hone their skills. Having the majority of these PASS Pro Late Model events scheduled with the PASS South Super Late Models will provide a great weekend of racing for our fans.”

The PASS Pro Late Models will begin the 2013 season as part of the 8th Annual South Carolina Clash weekend at Dillon Motor Speedway on March 9th. It will be the first of five PASS Pro Late Model events scheduled at Ron Barfield’s tricky 4/10 mile oval. In addition to competing with the PASS South Super Late Models at Dillon in March and October, the PASS Pro Late Models will have three additional stand-alone events there on June 1st, July 13th, and August 24th.

PASS Pro Late Model drivers will also have the opportunity to compete at such marquee events as the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway in March, and the season ending Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Raceway Park in November.

The PASS Pro Late Models will continue to employ a variety of chassis and engine combinations to allow racers an affordable way to compete in a touring division. PASS Pro Late Models are open to both perimeter and straight rail chassis, with engine and weight rules aimed at making both types of chassis competitive. Also in an effort to keep costs down, racers will race on a restricted tire rule. All of the factors help make the PASS Pro Late Models one of the most unique divisions in all of short track racing.

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park to Welcome ARCA Fans, Drivers Before Mobile Race in March

(MOBILE, Ala.) - Officials from Mobile International Speedway, in conjunction with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, announced today that the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park will welcome aboard ARCA fans, drivers, and teams on Thursday, March 7, just days before the Mobile ARCA 200.

 

Fans of all ages will have the opportunity to see ARCA cars and haulers up close, along with live pit stop demonstrations and a driver autograph session. The autograph session will take place inside the Aircraft Pavilion, which fans can access at no charge.

 

"We are excited about having the horsepower of the ARCA teams and fans at Battleship Park," said Bill Tunnel, executive director of USS Alabama Battleship Park. "Starting the Mobile ARCA 200 weekend here is another example of the Park's ability to be a multi-faceted entertainment and tourist destination."

 

Mobile drew ARCA fans and teams to Mobile for the series' first race at the track in 2012, and found much more.

 

"At the inaugural Mobile ARCA 200 in 2012, our fans, teams, and officials were highly impressed with everything the Mobile area has to offer," said Ron Drager, president and CEO of ARCA. "Bringing our race cars, transporters, and drivers to USS Alabama Battleship Park to kick off the second annual race weekend is a great opportunity to grow the stature of the event as well as pay tribute to the highly respected veterans of our U.S. Armed Forces."

 

The ARCA haulers will cast off from the Battleship in a hauler parade to Mobile International Speedway to prepare for Friday's on-track activity. The hauler parade will mark the beginning of the Causeway Seafood Jubilee as ARCA fans, teams, and drivers will enjoy the great seafood offered by restaurants on the Causeway.

 

For the late night crowd, the Home Mortgage of America Green Flag Party will be wide open from 8 p.m. until closing at Grand Central on Dauphin Street downtown, Mobile's place to party.

 

"We wanted to bring out the big guns to kick off the Mobile ARCA 200 weekend and they don't get any bigger than the Battleships," said Tommy Praytor of Mobile International Speedway. "The Mobile ARCA 200 has become a race fan's destination but we want to show off the Mobile area. The Battleship, our great restaurants on the Causeway, and Dauphin Street are a good primer for the race."

 

The race is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, with the green flag flying at 2 p.m. CT. Mobile's Cale Gale won the inaugural Mobile ARCA 200 in March with race fans occupying over 1800 hotel nights and generating a $1.4 million impact to the area's economy. Still remaining this year, the 2012 ARCA Racing Series Championship Awards Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, December 8, and will be held in conjunction with the International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS), which will begin Thursday. The banquet will take place in a new location, the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. Testing for the 2013 ARCA Racing Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway will take place from December 14-16.

REVSTAR prépare la jeune relève en Stock Car sur terre battue

Une nouvelle mini piste sur terre battue a vu le jour à St-Marcel la semaine dernière au RPM Speedway.

Les nouveaux propriétaires ne ménagent pas leurs efforts dans le but bâtir la relève du Stock Car au Québec.

Le mini circuit a été aménagé au centre de la piste déjà existante d’un quart de mille. Ce petit circuit de terre battue sera baptisé  « LE MINI RPM SUPERSPEEDWAY », d'ailleurs la nouvelle piste savère d'une dimension parfaite pour la série Slingshot et va permettre aux jeunes pilotes et au moins jeunes de faire l'apprentissage du Stock Car sur terre battue. Les Slingshots fonctionnent très bien sur des pistes plus longues, toutefois ces bolides sont encore plus spectaculaires sur ce genre de circuit. De plus, seulement des petites voitures vont rouler sur la nouvelle piste, alors on prévoit que les conditions seront exceptionnelles en tout temps !

 



Le Mini RPM Speedway sera accessible seulement aux Slingshots et aux Go-Kart de terre battue. D'ailleurs un nouveau championnat nommé "JR Slinghot" sera implanté l'an prochain pour les jeune pilotes de 7 à 13 ans, comme cela se fait déjà du côté des États-Unis. Les courses se dérouleront en fin d'après midi et les finales seront présentées durant l'intermission lors des programme sur la grande piste. Le RPM Speedway et REVSTAR mettent tout en place pour bâtir une nouvelle génération de champions qui vont éventuellement graduer dans les ligues majeures dans les années à venir.

Le Mini RPM Superspeedway voit le jour et la relève sera en tête d'affiche

Afin de satisfaire le plus grand nombre de catégorie possible à chacun des programmes, l’équipe du RPM Speedway est fier d’annoncer la création du « Mini RPM Superspeedway » au centre de la piste actuel.  Celui-ci aura pour but de présenter des courses pour les classes Slingshots, Mini Mod ou GoKart, débutant en après midi avec des épreuves de qualifications et se poursuivant durant les intermissions avec  la classe vedette de la soirée. Celle-ci effectuera sa finale durant la préparation du circuit principal. Cette initiative est dans le but ultime d’offrir le meilleur spectacle aux amateurs avec des courses en continu sans interruption. Toute l’équipe du RPM Speedway travaillera d’arrache-pied pour bâtir une nouvelle génération de champions qui graduera dans les ligues majeures dans les années à venir.

 

Pourquoi le nom de « Mini RPM Superspeedway » ? Tout simplement puisque ce sera la plus grande des « petites pistes » au Canada pour les catégories de la relève.

Proctor, Quenneville to be honored at NASCAR Gala

CHARLOTTE, NC – Devil’s Bowl Speedway stock car drivers Ron Proctor and Vince Quenneville, Jr., will be among the honorees at a black-tie gala for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on Friday, December 7.  The ceremony, held in the Crown Ballroom at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC, will feature top short track racers from more than 50 tracks in the United States and Canada.

 

 

Proctor, of Charlton, NY, will collect hardware for his second straight Devil’s Bowl Speedway Track Championship and Vermont State Division I Championship under the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.  Proctor earned the title racing in the Bond Auto Parts Modified division at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT, where he posted three victories and finished seventh or better in all 18 NWAAS events at the track in 2012.  Proctor finished 68th in national NWAAS Division I standings, with his total point fund winnings expected to top $5,000.

Brandon, VT driver Quenneville will be honored as the Vermont State Rookie of the Year for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.  Although he is a veteran of 25 years behind the wheel, Quenneville qualified for the NWAAS rookie program due to his status as a first-time NASCAR Division I license holder.  With five victories, Quenneville finished second in overall track and state standings to Proctor, and ranked a close second in NWAAS national rookie standings behind only Brian Parker of Oklahoma.

Other drivers receiving honors at the NASCAR Hall of Fame will include NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion Lee Pulliam of Semora, NC, and national runner-up Keith Rocco of Wallingford, CT, who competed at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in May.  The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series sanctions weekly stock car racing at more than 50 asphalt and dirt tracks in North America under a common championship point structure; each driver’s best 18 results in designated Division I events are counted toward their state and national point totals.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway will honor Proctor, Quenneville, and the local champions and top rookies from all of its four weekly racing divisions at the Banquet of Champions, scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, VT.  More details regarding the festivities will made available soon.

New Crazy Horse Racing Chassis To Carry No. 16ME Colors

ENOSBURG, Vt. – Richard Green Racing will have a brand new look for 2013.

Longtime ACT Late Model Tour team owner Richard Green will field a brand new Crazy Horse Racing chassis next season, and he will fill the seat with Oxford Plains Speedway veteran Travis Stearns of Auburn, Maine.

 

Stearns joins Richard Green Racing as part of a two-car effort, one which will continue to also compete in weekly Late Model competition at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., with Joey Becker of Graniteville, Vt.

“I'm really excited about it,” Green said. “Obviously, I've known (Crazy Horse Racing owner Mitch Green, no relation) for quite a while. Their track record is moving up the scale as far has having good cars and having all the pieces in place.”

Stearns has competed full-time at Oxford Plains in the past while making a few ACT Late Model starts. He finished second in the final Oxford point standings in 2012 with two victories. He also posted a Top-5 finish in the 39th annual Oxford 250 and won the reserve Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in October.

For the first time in his career, Stearns will not serve as the owner of his own car.

“With all the pieces of the puzzle that we're putting together, it's going to be a perfect fit,” Stearns said. “I really believe that. Just talking with (Green) and talking with Joey Becker, he said you won't find a better car owner. That's comforting and exciting.”

Stearns has had an eye on full-time competition on the ACT Late Model Tour for some time, but he said it was never a possibility while fielding his own team.

“When I started out, my goal always to run the ACT Tour. I never knew if I'd get there, because I wanted to stay within my means and race,” Stearns said. “Then this opportunity came. It's the best shot I have ever had to be competitive. Let's face it, I wouldn't be competitive on my own without the people, the resources that (Richard Green Racing) has.”

After finishing 13th in the ACT owner standings last season with multiple drivers, Green is looking forward to the stability of both driver and car next summer.

“It's the first time I've had a car come out of a professional race shop,” Green said. “The Tour car has always been at a couple other shops with other drivers, and it doesn't always work out for the best.

“I wasn't sure who was going to drive. I had a couple guys on a short list, but nobody wanted to commit to doing the work. They all want to drive, but not all of them want to do the work, too.When Mitch called (about Travis), we all sat down and talked about it and thought it would be the way to go.”

Green has also hired Mickey Green to serve as crew chief for the No. 16ME Richard Green Trucking/Green's ACE Hardware Chevrolet. Green, a fabricator at Crazy Horse Racing, previously served as crew chief for Austin Theriault on the ACT Late Model Tour.

“I absolutely have higher expectations now,” Richard Green said. “The reason being, the car's coming out of that race shop – a professional race shop. It's not somebody's hobby, it's their profession. It's because Mickey's helped Austin, Mitch's experience with the cars, and Travis doing what he's done last year. If the chips fall our way, I think we're easily a Top-10 Tour car right now. If things go well, we might be a Top-5 Tour car.”

The 14-race ACT Late Model Tour schedule begins on Sunday, April 14, at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H., with the Governor's Cup 150.

Retrofitted: Eldora, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Give Trucks Throw-Back Feel

New Additions, Classic Look For 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Schedule

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 28, 2012) – NASCAR today announced the 2013 schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, a slate that includes two exciting firsts: the series’ first race on dirt and its inaugural international event.

 

 

On July 24, the trucks will make their dirt debut at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, the.5-mile track owned by three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart. This event will be the first of two Wednesday night races for the series, joining Bristol Motor Speedway’s popular mid-week race on Aug. 21.

 

“We’ve had talks about getting the trucks on dirt in the past,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations. “The door-to-door racing that our truck series is known for plus Eldora’s popularity and Tony’s dedication to putting on great shows for the fans is a perfect fit. We’ll have a maximum starting field of 30 trucks at Eldora. More details on the race format are still being developed.”

 

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), a 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course in Bowmanville, Ont., will host its inaugural truck event on Sept. 1, becoming the first road-course track for the series since 2000, and ensuring a NASCAR national series presence in Canada for a seventh-consecutive season.

 

“It’s very important that we maintain our national series presence in Canada,” O’Donnell said. “We’ve accomplished that goal while also bringing a world-class venue like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on board. The Canadian fan base is so passionate and has a high regard for NASCAR. We’re excited to increase our role with our great partners at Canadian Tire while also introducing the truck series to our fans in Canada.

 

CTMP, which has hosted NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events since 2007, becomes the fifth different track to hold a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series road-course event, and first since Watkins Glen International on June 24, 2000.

 

Also beginning in 2013 as was recently announced by NASCAR, at road courses and tracks measuring 1.1 miles in length or less, the driver age restriction will be lowered to 16 years old. Currently, the minimum age to compete at the national series level is 18.

 

The balance of the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck schedule, the series’ 19th season, maintains a familiar feel, opening with Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 22 and culminating on Nov. 15 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

 

Next year’s schedule also includes a return to Rockingham Speedway for the second consecutive season. Earlier this season, Rockingham re-joined NASCAR national series competition for the first time since 2004.

Fort Kent Driver Pulling Double Duty For BKR At Five Flags Speedway

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Looking to build on the momentum of his two best career Super Late Model finishes in his last two starts, Austin Theriault returns to the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Dodge Charger this weekend for the 45th annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla.

 

 

Theriault is attempting to make his first start in the prestigious end-of-the-season event. Practice begins on Thursday, while WXBM Pole Qualifying is slated for Friday night, November 30, with the Snowball Derby 300 on Sunday, December 2, at 2 p.m.

 

“We're going into it with a sense of confidence,” said Theriault, who will attempt to qualify for the Snowball Derby as well as Saturday night's Snowflake 100 for crate engine-powered Super Late Models. “We're not over-confident, but we have some confidence and the guys are working really hard at the shop. I spent the week down there before (the Governor's Cup 200 at New Smyrna Speedway), and it's definitely something they pour their heart out on and you can see the results at the track.

 

“I'm really proud to be driving for that team.”

 

Theriault has some experience in big open shows. He has finished third in each of the last two summers at the Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. In his most recent Super Late Model start, he posted his first podium finish for BKR at the Governor's Cup 200 just a few weeks after winning a 150-lap PASS North Series event at Oxford Plains.

 

With more than 70 cars already entered in the Snowball Derby, including NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Kyle Busch, David Ragan and Landon Cassill, qualifying takes on added significance this weekend. The Top-30 in time trials Friday lock in their Sunday starting spots.

 

“It's hard to really prepare yourself 100 percent for a big race like that,” said Theriault, who finished fifth in the Papa Johns 100 at Five Flags in April. “There's a lot of variables going into a race like that. You can prepare psychologically and make sure everything's in tip-top shape with the car and everything like that, but it's about trying to bring everything and not leave anything out on the table (during qualifying). If you do that, you're chances of making it are still somewhat slim, just because there are so many cars there.

 

“That's what you've got to go into the weekend thinking. As a driver, you don't want to leave anything out and you have to know your team is behind you 100 percent.”

 

Experience in a crate engine-powered Super Late Model will benefit Theriault in the Snowflake 100 on Saturday night. His victory in October at Oxford Plains Speedway came in a Super Late Model with a crate engine.

 

While he said that the Snowflake car is more of a “momentum car,” there is something to be gained by competing in both events this weekend. There's the added seat time that comes with extra practice sessions and a 100-lap race the night before the Snowball Derby 300. Five Flags Speedway, Theriault said, is a tricky animal.

 

“It's all about getting off the corners there,” Theriault said. “There's some grip at the track, but it's all about being able to use the horsepower. There's not a whole lot of bite, and you've got to do what you can to use it. The person who is able to do that best is going to be the one that hits it on Sunday afternoon.”
