Located in Fort Erie, Ontario, the central features of the $150 million facility are a one-mile banked speedway designed by NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, and a 2.6-mile FIA / FIM grade road course. Several other racing, entertainment, industrial and educational components are planned for what is being billed as a world class facility.

In an effort to keep Canadian racing fans informed about the exciting recent developments involving Canadian Motor Speedway (CMS), the group behind the project will have a prominent presence at the Canadian Motorsports Expo Powered by Inside Track Motorsport News. The show runs February 8-10 at the International Centre, adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

In addition to several project leaders being in the booth at various times throughout the weekend, the CMS display (Booth #226) will also feature the first Canadian showing of the new ‘Gen-6’ NASCAR Sprint Cup car, in the form of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevy SS Showcar driven by four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon. The new car, coming directly from Hendrick Motorsports, features the dramatic new body design that is winning rave reviews for its enhanced manufacturer brand recognition and exciting racing characteristics.

John Bickford will also be on hand in the Canadian Motor Speedway booth, on the Friday and Saturday of the show (Feb. 8 & 9). Bickford – the VP and General Manager of Jeff Gordon Inc. – is also Jeff Gordon’s stepfather. Bickford will be at the show to greet fans and to represent Jeff Gordon, a key member of the CMS design team.

Visitors to the Canadian Motor Speedway booth will also have an opportunity to discuss the facility’s design characteristics with Paxton Waters, one of the world’s most respected motorsports facility architects.

ABOUT JOHN BICKFORD: John Bickford is Vice President and General Manager of Jeff Gordon, Inc. He is also stepfather to NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. Bickford started Gordon’s racing career in 1976, when Gordon was five, on a makeshift racetrack in Vallejo, California. At the same time, he started MPD, which is a company that produces products for physically challenged people to enable them to drive cars without the use of their feet.

The company also produces race car products. In 1985, he moved east to further Jeff Gordon’s racing establishing a base in Pittsboro, Indiana. In 1996, following a move from Pittsboro to Concord, North Carolina he became the Executive Vice President of Action Performance. Le Vice-champion et recrue de l’autodrome Chaudière en 2012, Philippe Poulin #33 de St-Georges de Beauce est devenu le 4^e pilote a confirmé son inscription pour la saison 2013.

En 2012, Poulin a terminé 2^e au Championnat SS Local à l’Autodrome Chaudière. De plus il avait participé à 4 courses en Sportsman Québec étant impressionnant à chaque reprise. Au GP3R, il roulait dans le top 5 quand il a perdu la maitrise de sa voiture sur une fuite de gaz et percuté un muret de protection. La voiture a du être refait à neuf pour poursuivre la saison.

À sa 2^e saison dans cette division, Richard Poulin, propriétaire du #33 nous dit le commentaire suivant : « Philippe est maintenant prêt à rivaliser avec les meilleurs pilotes de la Série Sportsman Québec.

Nos objectifs pour la saison 2013 est de terminer le plus de course possible en espérant faire partie du top 10 et de faire au moins un podium.

La voiture à été démonter au complet afin de faire une mise au point de chaque pièce cet hiver ».

PASS To Award 2013 National Champ With Championship Ring at Season's End

NAPLES, ME (January 23) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that the 2013 PASS National Series Champion will be awarded a one-of-a-kind championship ring. PASS, in association with series supporter Northern Race Tire, will present the newly crowned PASS National Champion with the championship ring following the final race of the season as part of the Mason-Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Raceway Park in Kenly, NC. The PASS National Champion’s ring is currently being manufactured by Stylecraft. From Super Bowl rings to civic awards, Stylecraft has been making finely crafted jewelry in the United States for over six decades. The 2013 PASS National Champion’s ring will be massive in size and will be emblazoned with the PASS logo and other jewels. This year’s championship ring is meticulously being designed now and will be unveiled on the PASS website in the coming weeks. It joins an impressive list of awards for the PASS National Champion which includes a chassis from Bull City Race Cars and a custom helmet made by Bell Helmets.

The PASS National Series is comprised of six elite Super Late Model events throughout North America and gets underway in less than three weeks with the Inaugural Florida Winter Meltdown at Auburndale Speedway on February 8-9. In addition to a talented group of PASS regulars, former PASS National Champions Ben Rowe and Jay Fogleman hope to contain a strong contingent of Florida Super Late Model standouts on the tricky quarter mile oval.

The PASS National Series will also be highlighted by the return of Super Late Model action to the 40^th Annual TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in July. The TD Bank 250 is the biggest single day short track event in the country paying $25,000 to win, with an additional $25,000 in guaranteed lap money.

In addition, a PASS National Series event will be held in Canada for the first time ever at Autodrome Chaudiere on September 7. The 200 lap race will pay $10,000 to the winner plus an additional $20,000 in guaranteed lap leader money. This race will also be the final event of the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown, a “mini-series” of three PASS North races at Autodrome Chaudiere with a separate bonus points fund totaling $30,000 for drivers who compete in all three events there.

Traditional stops for the PASS National Series will include the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway in March and the PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in September.

Crazy Horse Racing 'Confident' Cars Will Perform As Pro Late Models

SOUTH PARIS, Maine – Norway's Chris Coolidge will be back in the top division at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2013, even as the division itself has undergone offseason changes.

Formerly fielding ACT-legal Late Models at the .375-mile flat oval, new ownership there has revamped the division to be a Pro Late Model – a sort of hybrid blending the former Late Model division with the Super Late Models that compete in the PASS North Series. Coolidge, who earned his first career win in the 2012 season finale at Oxford, is already eager to get back on the track in his No. 72 Crazy Horse Racing chassis.

“It's not going to be a full-blown Pro Stock. It's not going to be a lot different,” Coolidge said. “It's always been my hope to try and be able to run something like that. It's definitely going to be a learning curve – I still had a lot to learn in a Late Model, and now we've even got more to learn. But I still think it's going to be a lot of fun.”

Coolidge's ride won't be Crazy Horse Racing's first foray into Super Late Model or Pro Late Model racing. Last October, the chassis builders converted an Austin Theriault Late Model into a PASS-legal car – and Theriault won the PASS 150 at Oxford in a dominant performance.

“That really gave us a lot of confidence,” Crazy Horse Racing owner Mitch Green said. “We always believed that we had good cars and could be competitive at other levels, and Austin's win proved to us that we were right on track with some of our ideas.”

A wider race tire, different shocks and a more powerful engine are the most significant differences between the previous Late Model class at Oxford and the new Pro Late Model rules.

Coolidge was the 2011 Rookie of the Year at Oxford, and last season he finished a career-best seventh in the final Late Model point standings. He believes having wider tires (10-inch tires as opposed to the 8-inch ones used in the past) and more horsepower under the hood will benefit his race program.

“If it wasn't for Crazy Horse, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are now as a team,” Coolidge said. “They're just awesome. There's going to be different things we couldn't do before (with the new rules), and we've got a few ideas of things to try. We'll just have to see what happens and how it plays out once we do get to the track.

“I've never driven a car with 'fat tires' on it before. But I think the biggest difference is going to be getting into the corners and having more horsepower. I think it will take a little getting used to, but other than that, it should be about the same.”

Entering the season as the last Late Model winner in Oxford's long history is a great building block for launching the 2013 campaign.

“It gave me some confidence. I don't want to make it sound like now that I've won a race I think I'm unstoppable, but it does give me confidence,” Coolidge said. “In the second half of last year, we kind of hit a dry spell. To hit it and get it so good for the last race of the season – the car was so awesome, I wished we had more races. I can't wait to go out there again.”

Oxford Plains Speedway opens its season on Sunday, April 21.

WEST HAVEN, VT – The grassroots have been replanted at Devil’s Bowl Speedway for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing season. The entry-level four-cylinder Mini Stock division has undergone a facelift during the winter and is expecting a wide-open championship chase.

Known in previous seasons as the “Bomber” division, the Mini Stock class is the starting point for many local racecar drivers. Cars that compete include Chevrolet Cavaliers, Honda Civics, Dodge Neons, and other American-made and import compact sedans. Modifications allow only for safety advancements and minor, inexpensive handling and mechanical improvements. Racing in the Mini Stock class is often intense with three-wide and even four-wide action sprinkled with metal-crunching crashes and rollovers.

Josh Masterson, 21, came to the division as a rookie in 2012 and departs for the top-tier Late Models as the champion. In his first season in a stock car, the Bristol, VT racer posted an astonishing seven wins en route to sweeping the track championship and Rookie of the Year title. Third-place finisher Ray Germain, Jr., also of Bristol, VT, will move up to the intermediate Renegade class, leaving 2012 runner-up Bobby LaVair of Gabriels, NY as the leading candidate to sit on the Mini Stock throne. Five victories in his No. 5 Denecker Chevrolet-sponsored Mazda Protégé left LaVair second overall; his father Harold and brother Chris were also feature winners during the season.

“I want to expand my schedule to do some more racing around New England this year, but my main goal is to win the Mini Stock championship at Devil’s Bowl,” Bobby LaVair said. “I know there will be some new cars, so you never really know what to expect, but I know I’m ready.”

Drivers looking to keep LaVair in check include Gerald LaFlam of Hinesburg, VT; Jake Noble of Benson, VT; Rensselaer, NY racers Dan Collins and John McCarron; Colchester, VT’s Matt Monaghan; and Kyle Watrous of Bomoseen, VT. Rulebooks and registration forms have also been mailed to first-time racers from across Vermont and New York.

Like its Modified, Late Model, and Renegade counterparts at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, the Mini Stock division is part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series that encompasses more than 50 weekly tracks in North America. Masterson finished 41^st in the national Division IV standings of the NASCAR Finalist program, with LaVair 54^th and Germain 83^rd; the national top three Finalists are honored each year at a black-tie NASCAR gala in Charlotte, NC.

Masterson will officially accept his championship awards at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway Banquet of Champions at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, VT on Saturday, February 2. Ron Proctor will collect his second Bond Auto Parts Modified title, Craig Bushey will be crowned the J&S Steel Late Model champion, and Robert Gordon will take Renegade honors.

Toujours en piste à l'âge de 79 ans !

UNE 54e SAISON

POUR ROGER MARINEAU

Lorsque le vétéran pilote Roger Marineau, de Saint-Eustache, prendra le départ à bord de sa Honda #27 dans la division Sport-Compacte ANCA sur le tracé de l’Autodrome St-Eustache le 1^er juin prochain, il aura 79 ans bien sonnés, et entreprendra sa 54^e saison en course automobile, un exploit que peu ont réalisé, s’il y en a qui l’ont fait.

«J’aurais bien aimé y être le 18 mai pour la course d’ouverture de la saison, mais mon fils Jean-François prend épouse au Mexique à cette date et on se doit, mon épouse et moi, d’être présents à ces noces…….» de préciser le sympathique doyen du stock car.

C’est en 1960, en circuit routier, que Roger Marineau a débuté en sport motorisé. Il y a passé la première moitié de sa carrière à sillonner les différents circuits du Québec tels Mont-Tremblant, Trois-Rivières, Montréal, Circuit Deux-Montagnes et autres aux côtés des meilleurs pilotes de l’époque. Le stock car est arrivé dans la deuxième moitié de sa carrière au début des années ’90, et c’est toujours accompagné de son épouse des 58 dernières années, Marie-Marthe, qu’il a parcouru les différents circuits de l’est du Canada.

C’est avec des Volkswagen Scirocco que Roger a passé une bonne partie de sa carrière en stock car jusqu’à, il y a quelques quatre ou cinq ans, où il a décidé de faire comme les « jeunes » et de se convertir à Honda.

Avec un championnat de sa division en 1996, Roger Marineau a toujours été un pilote combatif comme le font foi la multitude de trophées qui trônent dans sa résidence, et encore aujourd’hui, il est un compétiteur qui se maintient dans le peloton de tête lors des compétitions estivales de l’ANCA à l’autodrome St-Eustache.

C’est avec plaisir que les amateurs viendront encore l’encourager en 2013, on lui souhaite une fructueuse saison, et bien d’autres à venir, tant et aussi longtemps qu’il voudra bien poursuivre sa longue carrière de plus de 5 décennies.

La saison se stock car à l’autodrome St-Eustache se mettra en branle le 29 avril prochain avec un enduro pour voitures de rue, tandis que les compétitions comptant pour les différents championnats de stock car débutera officiellement le 18 mai 2013.

Entretemps, question de « casser » l’hiver, les amateurs sont invités au «Challenge sur neige», des courses de voitures de rues qui se tiendront le dimanche 3 février prochain sur l’ovale de Saint-Eustache à compter de 13h00.

The season opens on Sunday, May 5 at 1:30pm with the historic “Spring Green 113” for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models. The 39^th running of the Spring Green marks the third consecutive year that the event will be held at Devil’s Bowl; Wayne Helliwell, Jr., of Dover, NH posted the first victory of his ACT championship season in the 2012 event. The race also opens the championship schedule for the open-wheel Bond Auto Parts Modifieds, the American-made, V8-powered Renegades, and the entry-level four-cylinder Mini Stocks of the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Summer officially arrives as the Friday night season begins with the People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special on Friday, May 24 at the new earlier weekly start time of 7:00pm. Twin 25-lap features for the ground-pounding Modifieds and the championship opener for the J&S Steel Late Models are scheduled along with the Renegades, Mini Stocks, and a holiday fireworks show. The Modifieds will also have Twin 25 doubleheaders on Friday, June 21 and Friday, August 16. Ron Proctor of Charlton, NY will try for his third consecutive Modified championship in 2013.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series will make its first-ever appearance in Vermont on Friday, June 7 with the “Slate Valley 100” at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The second-year tour will bring cars similar in construction and appearance to the weekly Devil’s Bowl Late Model class, but with wider tires and bigger horsepower. Weekly competitors are encouraged to race in the event by making minor and relatively inexpensive modifications. Past winners on the Granite State tour include NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Matt Frahm of New Salem, NH and regular Devil’s Bowl competitor Chris Wilk of Mendon, VT.

Three big events in July will make the racing action as hot as the weather – the Coca-Cola Firecracker returns on Friday, July 5 with 44-lap features for Modifieds and Late Models, plus Renegades, Mini Stocks, and a massive Independence Day fireworks celebration. One week later, The Rutland Herald presents the double-points, double-pressure Mid-Season Championships on Friday, July 12. A nine-day summer break will let teams regroup before the American-Canadian Tour returns for the season’s second event – a 150-lap marathon on Sunday, July 28 at 1:30pm.

The Modified division will be put to the test in the ultimate stretch drive toward the championship, as August features two extra-distance races and a Twin 25 card. The second annual Carrara Masonry & Concrete C.J. Richards Memorial event will be held on Friday, August 2, as the Modifieds race 67 laps in honor of late Devil’s Bowl Speedway founder Richards, who opened the facility in 1967. The Modifieds will run a regular event on August 9 before the exciting Twin 25s return on Brown’s Quarried Slate/Brown’s Orchard & Farm Stand Night on August 16, and the weekly summer season closes on Friday, August 23 with a 50-lap grind presented by the Sugar & Spice restaurant and gift shop.

The Vermont 200 Weekend will crown the 2013 track champions in all four weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions on September 14-15. Last year’s two-day spectacular event featured extra-distance races that saw close racing and exciting finishes in all four classes; details regarding the Vermont 200 Weekend will be released soon.

The 2013 season draws to a close with the wild-and-crazy “Vermonster 150” Enduro on Saturday, October 19. Enduro races are caution-free, survival-of-the-fittest marathons for strictly stock vehicles and novice drivers. The Vermonster 150 will be the final event of a four-race Enduro schedule at Devil’s Bowl Speedway; Enduros will also be held in conjunction with weekly Friday night events on May 31, June 28, and August 16. The Vermonster 150 will highlight a card that includes the always-unpredictable Spectator Races and special non-championship races for the Renegades and Mini Stocks.

General Admission 2013 season passes are now available. Adult season passes are only $190 for a total savings of nearly 15% from the race-day ticket price, and will be accepted at all 16 stock car racing events. Senior (age 62+) season passes are just $160 for a savings of nearly 20%.
