St-Eustache (Québec, Canada) – le 28 juillet 2013. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a terminé en sixième position hier sur le circuit de l’Autodrome St-Eustache. Tout était en place pour permettre à L’équipe WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare de terminer sur le podium, toutefois un bris mécanique survenu en fin d’épreuve oblige le Québécois à ralentir la cadence pour être en mesure de franchir la ligne d’arrivée.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin compétitionnait pour la première fois sur le tracé ovale de St-Eustache et a pris le départ du National 250 en huitième position au volant de la Dodge n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare. Au fil des dépassements stratégiques (entre le 98^e et le 206^e tour), Louis-Philippe Dumoulin s’est patiemment hissé en force dans le top-3. Au 207^e tour, le pilote de Dumoulin Compétition est forcé d’entrer aux puits puisqu’une pièce du moteur s’est brisée.

« Nous avions de nouveau une bonne voiture, comme à chaque course, Tyler Case [chef d’équipe] et l’équipe mécanique WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare avaient préparé une voiture super compétitive et je suis fier de collaborer avec chacun d’entre eux. C’est vraiment dommage ce qui est arrivé, nous avions une position de départ intéressante, nous avons été patients et réussis à rester sur le tour du meneur jusque tard dans la course. De plus, nous n’avions pas encore fait l’arrêt aux puits pour le changement de pneus. Tout était bien aligné pour avoir une voiture extrêmement rapide à la fin et être apte à se battre pour la victoire. Toutefois, il y a une pièce dans le moteur qui a rendu l’âme et j’ai dû maintenir ma position pour terminer l’épreuve », explique Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Derrière Scott Steckly (préparateur des voitures n°47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare), ce cinquième top-10 de la saison confère à Dumoulin la deuxième place au classement général de la série NASCAR Canadian Tire.

SECOND IN DRIVER STANDINGS

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin signs his fifth top-10

St-Eustache (Quebec, Canada) – July 28^th, 2013. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has crossed the finish line in sixth place yesterday on St-Eustache’s Autodrome. Everything was in place for the WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team to end up on the podium. However, a mechanical problem which occurred at the end of the event forced the Quebecer to slow down in order to be able to cross the finish line.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was competing for the first time on St-Eustache’s oval track, and started the National 250 in eighth place behind the wheel of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare. During his strategic overtakes (between the 98^th and 206^th laps), Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has patiently made his way to the top-3. During the 207^th lap, the Dumoulin Competition driver was forced to make a pit stop due to an engine part failure.

“We once again had a great car, like for every other race. Tyler Case [crew chief] and the WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare mechanical team had prepared a very competitive car and I am proud to collaborate with each of them. What happened is really a shame, we were well positioned on the starting grid, and we were patient and managed to stay on the lead lap until late in the race. Furthermore, we hadn’t made the pit stop for the tire change. Everything was on track for us to have an extremely fast car at the end to be able to fight for the victory. Unfortunately, a part in the engine failed and I had to maintain the same place to finish the race”, explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Behind Scott Steckly (22Racing who prepare 47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare cars), this fifth top-10 of the season gives Dumoulin the second place in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series standings.

During yesterday’s event, the medical team’s intervention was necessary to bring assistance to Phil Arnold (Josh Arnold’s father - WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team member). Fortunately, it was without consequence. Dumoulin Competition wishes him a speedy recovery.

STECKLY MAKES IT THREE WINS IN A ROW

St. Eustache, Quebec, Saturday July 27, 2013: Seven races into the 2013 season, Scott Steckly driver of the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Sylvania Dodge held off challenges from J.R. Fitzpatrickk & rookie Alex Guenette to win his third straight NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 event and take over the Championship points lead.

The Milverton, Ontario driver has now strung three wins together starting with the two Western swing races at Motoplerx Speedway, Vernon, BC and Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, SK. Steckly has this track to add to his favourites list as in 5 appearances here he has three wins and a worst finish of 4^th.

The 22 Racing Team again gave Steckly a great car right from the start of practice as Steckly consistantly notched times that had him at the top of the charts.

When practice ended the Canadian Tire Dodge was shown in the number one spot with a practice time of 17.288.

Steckly was eighth off the grid with his 22 Racing Dodge to qualify later in the afternoon. He quickly went to the top of the charts, a position he held until the last qualifier went out and posted a lap that was 8/1000’s quicker leaving Steckly starting from the second position in the National 250. “I am a little disappointed because we knew we had a car that could qualify first and track position is so important here,” said Steckly after practice. “We are on the front row though so that is good. My challenge will be getting to the inside groove at the start of the race. I will rely heavily on my spotter Ken Catteau to help me to do that.”

The Canadian Tire driver would start on the outside of row one for the National 250 and as it is very hard to pass on the outside groove at this .4 mile bullring, he fell back to sixth. Steckly would just set his own pace and run in the top six for the next 175 laps when the caution finally waved and he could bring the car down pit lane for tires and adjustments. “My team is incredible – they knew the changes we needed to make on the pit stop and the car was very fast after that,” said Steckly after the race. During the final 40 laps Steckly and J.R. Fitzpatrick would battle for the lead with each taking the point several times. After the final caution on lap 243, Steckly was able to go to the front and hold off a hungry Alex Guenette for the win. “There are no words that cover this,” said a smiling Steckly. “My crew, led by crew chief Randy Steckly, car chief Greg Gibson and Tyler Case who works in the shop full time and is crew chierf to my teammate LP Dumoulin, just do such a terrific job. The entire 22 Racing Team are second to none in this sport and I have to take my hat off to them for giving me another winning race car.”

The National 250 will air on TSN/TSN2 on Sunday Aug. 4 at 11:00 a.m and on RDS/RDS2 on Sat. Aug. 24 at 11 p.m. and Sun. Aug. 25 at 10 a.m.

PATRICK CLICHE SAVOURE LES JOIES D'UNE PREMIÈRE VICTOIRE

Cosmos 100 à l’Autodrome Montmagny

Finalement, la persévérance a porté des fruits et Patrick Cliche de St-Jean-Chrysostôme a savouré les joies d’une première victoire en carrière dans le championnat québécois de l’ACT, samedi soir à l’occasion du Cosmos 100 disputé à l’Autodrome Montmagny. Il a par le fait même mérité une invitation au Bond Auto Invitational qui aura lieu dans le cadre du Sylvania 300 au New-Hampshire Speedway en septembre prochain.

Avant samedi soir, le pilote de la Chevrolet Monte Carlo avait connu son meilleur début de saison dans l’ACT avec deux podiums et une quatrième place en quatre confrontations. Il était plus qu’évident que ses efforts porteraient des fruits un jour ou l’autre et cela s’est produit samedi soir.

Douzième au départ, Cliche n’a rien précipité pour se retrouver en quatrième position à la mi-course. Il s’est contenté de suivre la cadence, éviter les pièges, et saisir l’occasion si jamais elle se présentait. Celle-ci s’est produite au 75^e tour lors d’une relance faisant suite à un problème survenu à Dany Trépanier.

Ce jaune a nécessité deux relances où les trois meneurs, Hamel, Theetge et Déry ont été expédiés à l’arrière du peloton pour leur indiscipline. Cliche a survécu à deux autres jaunes pour se diriger dans le cercle des vainqueurs. Alex Labbé, le pilote de la Fusion/Larue Équipement de Déneigement a suivi Cliche au fil. Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville, un autre régulier de cette série qui devrait l’imiter, a pris place sur la troisième marche du podium.

Claude Leclerc de Lanoraie et Étienne Cliche de Vallée-Jonction ont complété le peloton des cinq premiers de cette course qui a nécessité six drapeaux jaunes et d’une durée d’une heure, 1 minute, 17 secondes. Quant à Theetge et Déry, ils ont terminé respectivement 14^e et 15^e. Furieux contre Déry qu’il accusait de l’avoir touché, le clan Theetge est allé s’expliquer avec les dirigeants de l’ACT dans la tour de contrôle.

Le poste de commande a changé à six reprises entre trois pilotes.

En début de soirée, Steven Boissonneault, Jonathan Bouvrette et Alex Labbé avaient triomphé lors des épreuves de qualification.

La prochaine épreuve aura lieu sur le triovale de Sanair. Cette dernière regroupera les pilotes des deux séries de l’ACT et l’on s’attend à la présence des meilleurs de l’ACT de l’autre coté de la frontière.

Patrick Cliche Takes First Série ACT Win at Montmagny

Montmagny, QC – Patrick Cliche of St-Jean-Chrysostome, Quebec scored his first career Série ACT win in the Montmagny 100 at Autodrome Montmagny (QC) on Saturday, July 27. Cliche worked his way from his 12^th starting position to 4^th on a lap 75 restart. He inherited the lead after the caution flew once again on lap 75 and sent the top three cars to the rear. Cliche held off podium finishers Alex Labbe and Jonathan Bouvrette for the final 25 laps and took the checkers.

Patrick Hamel and Steven Boissonneault battled for the lead over the first half of the event with Hamel taking the advantage until a caution on lap 75. The field went green again but was quickly back under yellow with the top three, Hamel, Donald Theetge and Jean-François Déry going to the back of the field.

Veteran Claude Leclerc and young Etienne Cliche rounded out the top five. Boissonneault, Hamel, Patrick Boyer, Marc Beaudoin, and rookie Martin Goulet, Jr. filled out the top ten. The event saw six cautions and was completed in just over an hour. Fifteen of the nineteen cars that took the green completed all 100 laps. Eric LeHoux did not start the main event as he suffered rearend end issues.

Cliche becomes the tenth qualifier for the ACT Bond Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 21. He joins Jimmy Hebert, Brian Hoar, Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Bobby Therrien, Donald Theetge, Jean-François Déry, Derrick O’Donnell and Cody Blake.

The Série ACT heads to Sanair Super Speedway next Saturday, August 3 for a combination ACT US 150-lap event.

Guts Out NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Win At St. Eustache

ST. EUSTACHE, Que. (July 27, 2013) – Scott Steckly returned to a familiar place on Saturday night, Victory Lane at Autodrome St. Eustache after winning the National 250 presented by Public Mobile.

Steckly, out of Milverton, Ont., staged a heated battle with J.R. Fitzpatrick as the two exchanged the lead four times over the final 65 laps of the race. However, a Lap 243 spin by Fitzpatrick in Turn 4, while racing side-by-side with Steckly, paved the way for the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Sylvania Dodge.

It was Steckly’s third consecutive NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 victory and the 14th of his series career. Additionally, it was his third win in five starts on the .4-mile Quebec oval.

Rookie Alex Guenette finished in the runner-up spot, followed by Fitzpatrick in third. Ron Beauchamp Jr. finished in the fourth spot after winning his fifth career pole position earlier in the day. Jason White followed with a season-best finish of fifth.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, Martin Roy, Trevor Seibert, Dave Connelly and Noel Dowler completed the top 10.

With the victory, Steckly took the lead in the championship standings from D.J. Kennington, who finished the race in 16th after battling mechanical problems early in the race. Steckly now holds a 10-point advantage over Dumoulin and has a 15-point edge on Kennington. It’s the first time this season that the standings lead has been in double-digits.

The National 250 presented by Public Mobile will premiere on TSN at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 4. The French-language telecast will air on RDS2 at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 24 and at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 25 on RDS.

(MILLVILLE, N.J.) - Four ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards drivers topped the Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell record time at New Jersey Motorsports Park Saturday, but two-time defending champion Andrew Ranger will start up front.

Ranger, who also won the Menards Pole Award at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2011 and at Road America earlier this year, set the qualifying record at 101.382 mph, or 79.896 seconds around the 2.25-mile paved road course Saturday afternoon.

Driving the No. 53 Waste Management Bagster Chevrolet, Ranger will start on the pole for Sunday's Barbera's Autoland 150 presented by Driven Racing Oil.

"I know that car really well," he said. "I feel very comfortable with that car."

Chase Elliott in the No. 9 Aaron's-Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet (100.164 mph), Brian Wong in the No. 55 Venturini Motorsports Toyota (99.771 mph) and Tom Hessert in the Barbera's Autoland Dodge No. 77 (99.77 mph) also topped the previous qualifying record, set by Patrick Long, of 99.602 mph in 2009.

Elliott will start second, Wong third and Hessert fourth. Venturini Motorsports driver Nelson Canache will start fifth and Will Kimmel in the Messina Wildlife Ford will start sixth.

Nine-time series champion and current ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards point leader Frank Kimmel will start ninth with point runner-up and SCOTT Rookie Challenge leader Mason Mingus starting in the 11th position.

Chris Buescher, who won the first ARCA Racing Series road course event of the 2013 season earlier this year at Road America, qualified seventh in the Roulo Brothers Racing No. 99 Ford. Justin Boston, in the ZLOOP Computer & Electronics Recycling Toyota, will start 8th in a third Venturini Motorsports car.

Ranger, who is from Roxton Pond, Quebec, topped the speed charts for both of the practice sessions on Saturday, despite turning only four laps of practice.

"We've tested that car before," he said. "We made a few changes, but we have been here two or three times and we know the track. We know the set up."

Sunday will be Ranger's second ARCA Racing Series event of the season. He's also made starts in the NASCAR K&N East and West series, NASCAR Canadian Tire series and NASCAR Nationwide series.

"I really like road racing," he said. "I ran in IndyCar before, too. But, I like oval racing, too. I even raced in on ARCA dirt track."

Hessert is one of four New Jersey natives in the race. He was among the fastest cars in the practice sessions as well.

"We're not far off from the second place car," he said. "We focused primarily on race runs. It was a smooth day."

Hessert said he was headed to his Cherry Hill, N.J. home after qualifying and sleep in his own bed the night before the race.

"It's the only race of the year I get to do that," he said.

This will be the sixth visit by the ARCA Racing Series to NJMP. Justin Allgaier, Patrick Long and Casey Roderick and Ranger, twice, are previous winners.

"I like it," Ranger said of the track. "It's very technical in the back of the track. It is challenging and you slide a little. It's a very cool track."

Sunday's race starts at 1 p.m. Live timing and scoring, plus audio by ARCA Racing Network's Charles Krall and Tim Clagg, will be on arcaracing.com.

Ryan Newman Wins 50th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coors Light Pole

‘Rocket Man’ Moves Into Ninth Place On All-Time Poles List

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 27, 2013) – In winning the Coors Light Pole Award at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Ryan Newman, a native of South Bend, Ind., became the ninth driver with at least 50 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series poles.

With a speed of 187.531 mph (47.992 seconds), Newman won his first Indianapolis pole, and joined an exclusive list that features some of the sport’s all-time greats. Here is the exclusive “50 Poles Club”:

Newman won 11 poles in 2003, the largest single-season number of a NASCAR Sprint Cup career that began in 2000 thus earning him the nickname “Rocket Man.” This is the 12^th season in which Newman has won at least one pole. Newman has won five or more poles in five different seasons.

Of his previous 49 poles, Newman has won the corresponding race four times with 18 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes. His last win from the pole came at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September 2011.

Newman’s first pole came in the third start of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May of 2001, at the age of 23. Pole number 50 comes in his 424th start, at the age of 35. He won 43 poles driving for Penske Racing and seven since joining Stewart-Haas Racing in 2009.

Newman has won at least one pole at 17 different tracks, the most coming at Charlotte (nine).

Wayne Helliwell, Jr. Completes ACT Devil's Bowl Sweep

West Haven, VT – Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH completed his sweep of the American Canadian Tour events at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 28. Helliwell backed up his Spring Green win in May with a win in the St. Jude Children’s Hospital 150.

Helliwell had to battle both Tiverton, Rhode Island’s Ray Parent and weather on his way to the win. The Helliwell/Parent duo swapped the lead a total of six times over the first 93 laps. The outside lane seemed like the lane of choice as the second place driver got the advantage on the majority of the restarts.

The event was red flagged with 93 laps complete due to rain. After an over 20 minute rain delay the racing resumed with Parent at the point. Following another caution with 104 laps completed, Helliwell took over the lead for good. Parent settled in to second until he abruptly slowed up on lap 146. He had to pit to fill up with gas and returned for the restart and remained on the lead lap.

Travis Stearns inherited second after a week of long hours putting his Richard Green Trucking car back together after a hard wreck in the ACT International 500. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. came from 11^th on the field to complete the podium in third. Glen Luce ran up front all day and took fourth, while Bobby Therrien recovered from a spin on lap 107 to round out the top five. Ben Lynch, Jimmy Hebert, Josh Masterson, Brent Dragon and Brandon Atkins finished off the top ten.

The 150-lap event was completed in just over 2 hours including a couple of rain delays. The event was slowed by 17 cautions.

The American Canadian Tour joins its sister series, the Série ACT, north of the border next Saturday, August 3 with a 150-lap event at Sanair Super Speedway in St-Pie, Quebec. The event will be the 10^th of 14 ACT races scheduled for 2013.
