NASCAR Pinty's Series Returns To Honda Indy Toronto Weekend In 3-Year Deal

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2015) – NASCAR in Canada has a new name and entitlement sponsor – one that's familiar to race fans across the country.

NASCAR and Pinty's Delicious Foods Inc. announced today a six-year series entitlement sponsorship agreement of NASCAR's Canadian-based series. BeginningJan. 1, 2016, the series will be known as the NASCAR Pinty's Series.

In addition, NASCAR announced a three-year deal for the NASCAR Pinty's Series to run as part of the Honda Indy Toronto weekend. The series will headline racing activity at Exhibition Place on Saturday, July 16 as part of the event's 30th weekend.

Pinty's (Pin-tees), founded in 1943, produces and provides a complete range of premium quality fresh and frozen chicken products to the retail and food service industry throughout Canada. Pinty's has been a contingency sponsor of the series since 2012.

Recognizing the tremendous value of sponsorship and activation at the touring series level, Pinty's expanded its investment to become the entitlement sponsor and a NASCAR Official Partner. Pinty's progression is similar to K&N Filters and Whelen Engineering, which entered the sport as contingency sponsors and elevated their participation to series entitlement.

The 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series season will take the green flag on the traditional Victoria Day weekend, on Sunday, May 22 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, outside of Toronto. The summer return to the Honda Indy Toronto will be run with IndyCar Series. The NASCAR Pinty's Series raced Toronto in 2010 and 2011, with Andrew Ranger winning both races.

The complete schedule for 2016 will be announced at a later date. The series receives full-season broadcast coverage on Canada's No. 1 sports network, TSN, as well as its French-language sister network, RDS.

Earlier this year, NASCAR's Canadian Series celebrated its 100th race, which was hosted at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallée-Jonction, Quebec. Through its first nine seasons, the series has competed on 17 different tracks in six provinces, from Nova Scotia to Alberta

In 2016, the NASCAR Pinty's Series will boast Canada's brightest stars and biggest talents, from multi-time champions Scott Steckly, D.J. Kennington and Andrew Ranger, to notable names like Alex Tagliani and L.P. Dumoulin. Drivers such as Max Papis, Jacques Villeneuve and Austin Dillon have also competed in the series over the years.

Last year, Scott Steckly edged Jason Hathaway by just four points to capture his historic fourth series championship. It marked the third straight season the title was decided by fewer than five points. The series also saw an infusion of young talent, as 23-year-old Gary Klutt won Josten's Rookie of the Year honors and second-generation driver Cayden Lapcevich made his series debut at age 15.

Steckly and the top drivers and teams will be honored at the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards on Saturday, Dec. 12 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Montréal, 7 décembre 2015 - Alex Tagliani a récemment assisté au banquet de remise des trophées des séries NASCAR XFINITY et Camionnettes World Series à Hollywood en Floride qui célébrait, entre autres, le troisième championnat consécutif des propriétaires d'équipe NASCAR XFINITY de Team Penske. Tagliani a été l'un des quatre pilotes qui a contribué au titre de la Ford Mustang Discount Tire no 22 de Penske.

Penske a remporté le titre grâce aux succès de Ryan Blaney, qui a participé à 13 courses, et ceux des pilotes de la Coupe Sprint Joey Logano (11 courses) et Brad Keselowski (9), et de Tagliani qui a contribué au pointage de l'équipe avec une deuxième place à Mid-Ohio au mois d'août dernier. À la suite de sa position de tête, sa troisième en série XFINITY, le pilote de Terrebonne/Laval a mené l'épreuve de 75 tours à trois reprises pour un total de 38 tours. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Devil's Bowl Speedway stock car drivers Vince Quenneville Jr. and Greg Atkins will be honored in Charlotte, N.C. as NASCAR celebrates the top Whelen All-American Series drivers of 2015. Two full days of events culminate on Friday, December 11, as the NASCAR Hall of Fame hosts a black tie dinner and awards gala.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS), presented locally by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere, sanctions weekly short track racing at nearly 60 asphalt and dirt tracks throughout the United States and Canada including Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt. Each track designates its "Division I" class and drivers compete under a common point structure for track, state, provincial, and national championships.

Quenneville, of Brandon, Vt., will be honored in Charlotte as both the Bond Auto Parts Modified asphalt Track Champion at Devil's Bowl Speedway and the NWAAS Division I Vermont State Champion. Quenneville earned five feature race victories during the season, beating former champion Ron Proctor by 34 points (908-874) for the track title and 53 points (405-352) for the state crown.

Atkins, of Clintonville, N.Y., will be honored as the Vermont State Rookie of the Year presented by Jostens. The first-time NASCAR Division I license holder beat Jimmy Ryan for the title by an impressive 133 points (333-200). Atkins also won the New York State Rookie of the Year title and finished third in national rookie standings.

Lee Pulliam will collect his third NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Championship in Charlotte. The Semora, N.C. driverposted 29 wins in 51 starts while competing in Division I asphalt Late Models at six southeastern tracks. Oklahoma dirt Modified racer Thomas Tillison was the National Rookie of the Year and finished as the runner-up to Pulliam, with Canadian asphalt Late Model driver Taylor Holdaway third.

"I'm extremely excited to get back to Charlotte," Quenneville said. He was previously recognized as the NWAAS Vermont State Rookie of the Year in 2012. "NASCAR really makes it a special event and I'll have more of my team members and family with me this time. Being there with drivers from across the country makes you really feel like you've accomplished something important. We're all looking forward to it for sure."

Darlington Raceway Receives 2015 Myers Brothers Award

Industry's Best Acknowledged At End-Of-Season Luncheon

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2014) – In recognition of its "throwback" Southern 500 weekend, Darlington Raceway was named the recipient of the 2015 Myers Brothers Award. Voted upon by the National Motorsports Press Association, it is an esteemed accolade recognizing those who have made outstanding contributions to stock car racing.

The track "Too Tough Too Tame" led an industry-wide tribute to the sport's roots that coincided with NASCAR's return to Darlington on its traditional Labor Day weekend date for the first time since 2003. The annual event first took place when Darlington founder Harold Brasington opened NASCAR's original concrete oval in 1950 and 25,000 spectators flocked to the egg-shaped South Carolina track.

Teams emblazoned retro paints schemes on their cars, while drivers and crew members grew moustaches in homage to greats like Earnhardt and Petty. NBC even brought its old broadcast booth –

consisting of Ned Jarrett, Dale Jarrett and Ken Squier – back together to call part of the race.

The best of the past and present were meshed together, providing long-time fans with nostalgia of their earliest NASCAR memories and giving new stock car racing enthusiasts an appreciation of the sport's rich history.

The Myers Brothers Award – named after pioneer NASCAR competitors Billy and Bobby Myers – has been presented every year since 1958.

Twenty other awards were given out at the luncheon, acknowledging achievements ranging from marketing excellence to success on the track and skill in the garage.

NASCAR Names Miller as Senior Vice President of Competition

Veteran Team Executive to Guide Day-to-Day Management

of Competition Efforts across All Sanctioned Racing Events

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2015) – NASCAR announced today that Scott Miller has joined the organization as Senior Vice President of Competition, responsible for managing all competition efforts related to technology, inspection, rule development and officiating across NASCAR's wide portfolio of racing.

Miller will report directly to Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer Steve O'Donnell, and work closely with Senior Vice President of Innovation and Racing Development Gene Stefanyshyn. All three are based at NASCAR's Research & Development Center in Concord, N.C.

Miller most recently served as Executive Vice President of Competition at Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR). There he was responsible for managing all areas of competition. During his four-year tenure, MWR teams qualified for the Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

"We're pleased to have Scott, an executive with a wide range of racing experience, join our team," O'Donnell said. "He will be an immediate asset to NASCAR, our teams and each of our national series. Scott has worked in a collaborative spirit throughout his career, and represents the forward-looking approach we celebrate within our competition team."

A respected leader within the garage area, Miller has more than two decades of NASCAR experience. Prior to his stint at MWR, he served in competition leadership roles at Richard Childress Racing. There he also helped lead teams into The Chase as both a crew chief and while serving as the Vice President of Competition. As a crew chief, Miller enjoyed his most successful season in 2008 when he called veteran Jeff Burton to two wins, seven top-five and 18 top-10 finishes en route to a sixth-place championship points finish. In all, the Bardstown, Ky., native has six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins as a crew chief.

"I'm looking forward to using the experience I've gained working within teams in an entirely new way at NASCAR," Miller said. "Our sport has evolved quickly over the last several seasons through advanced technology and its creative application in the garage area. We will strive to continue this forward momentum while assuring a level playing field and competitive racing. It's a challenging opportunity and a logical next step for me. I can't wait to get started."

Prior to his focus on the mechanical side of motorsports, Miller got his start as a motorcycle racer, eventually advancing to the national level in AMA Motocross. He made the transition to race cars in 1981 and was competing in NASCAR shortly after. In 1983, he was an owner/driver in the NASCAR Winston West Series. He spent five seasons in IndyCar where he worked as a chief mechanic before joining Tri-Star Motorsports in 1995, competing weekly on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit.

Avec André Poulin comme promoteur, l'objectif est de poursuivre l'ascension de la piste et la continuité de cet ovale maintenant chef de fils en stock-car. Il était primordial de conserver sa valeur au niveau du sport motorisé puisque cette dernière demeure toujours à vendre.

En pleine effervescence dans les dernières années, cette annonce vient assurer la présence des 3 classes locales soit Sport Compact Amateur, Sport Compact Élite et Limité ainsi qu'une continuité pour le stock-car provincial.

Toujours soucieux de conserver une diversité quant à la programmation, nous pouvons nous attendre à ce que le calendrier soit complet passant par le stock car, des négociations étaient en cour depuis 2 semaines avec les Séries ACT/LMS Québec, la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil ainsi que la Série Nascar Canada et la populaire Série DMCC de drift. Veteran Racing Executive Oversaw Numerous Racing Enhancements

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2015) – NASCAR announced today that Senior Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton will leave the organization at the end of 2015.

With a racing career that has spanned five decades, Pemberton joined the sanctioning body in August of 2004. Since that time, he has overseen all areas of NASCAR competition and been credited as a key component in bridging the gap between the sanctioning body and the racing community.

"Robin has left an indelible mark on the sport while at NASCAR," said NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton. "He joined us at a critical time and very quickly gave our highly visible competition group the credibility and confidence it needed to be successful with the industry. He traded a successful career as a competitor to help lead the sport for 12 seasons. We're extremely grateful for his many contributions."

During Pemberton's tenure, NASCAR has seen a great number of technical and safety advancements. Against the backdrop of the massive NASCAR Research & Development Center, Pemberton's Competition teams overhauled the inspection and rules process and procedures for all vehicles racing in the national series. He oversaw the transitions of NASCAR to Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and to race fuels with blended Sunoco E15.

Among the largest undertakings under his purview was the launch of the acclaimed Generation 6 style car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2013. That style just completed its third season of on-track racing.

"I'm proud of what we've been able to accomplish during my time at NASCAR," Pemberton said. "This sport has been my entire professional career and working with all the competitors and the auto manufacturers for the last 12 seasons has been a thrill. I feel good knowing that the work this team has done has had a positive impact on the sport.

"I look forward to the next challenge."

Pemberton will help in the transition to a new competition lead for the balance of the year.

Le Grand maître Sylvain Vincent boucle sa carrière avec une victoire au Rally of the Tall Pines

Bancroft, Ont., 29 novembre 2015 – Sylvain Vincent et son fils Simon, de Terrebonne (Qc) ont remporté le Rally of the Tall Pines, la dernière manche du Championnat des Rallyes Canadiens. Après une longue carrière dans ce sport et de nombreux podiums, Sylvain a su se mériter le titre de Grand Maître, bien que la victoire lui ait échappé tout au long de ses années en rallye.

L'équipe a su garder un rythme constant, et a pris les devants tôt dans la course après avoir été deuxième durant les spéciales de la matinée.

"C'est arrivé tellement de fois que nous soyons près de la victoire pour terminer deuxièmes, mais je n'ai jamais gagné", a dit Vincent, qui a décidé de se retirer du sport après cet évènement. "J'ai toujours dit que ce rallye était le plus difficile. C'est très exigeant physiquement, mais j'adore les routes alors ça s'équilibre. Mais après un rallye comme celui-ci, je suis épuisé."

"Dans la spéciale de 31 km, je voulais vraiment pousser pour tenir mes rivaux à distance, Nous avons eu de belles batailles durant la journée et c'était bien de vivre ça pour ma première victoire."

Brandon Semenuk (Squamish, C.-B.) a excellé sur les routes forestières très techniques de son tout premier Rally of the Tall Pines. Faisant équipe avec John Hall (Sherwood Park, Alb.), Semenuk n'avait jamais fait de rallye dans l'Est du Canada, ni terminé sur un podium national.

"Ce fut un rallye fou", a dit Semenuk, qui est un athlète de vélo de montagne freeride reconnu mondialement. "13 heures de course, le plus grand nombre de spéciales que j'ai fait en une journée et les deux dernières boucles de spéciales font partie des plus hallucinantes que j'ai fait, avec beaucoup de sauts et de courbes cachées derrière des crêtes."

"John a évidemment fait un bon travail puisque nous nous sommes rendus jusqu'à la fin et nous avons terminé deuxièmes. Il a fait ce rallye cinq fois, et son expérience a été plus que bénéfique."

Jeremy Norris (Kitchener, Ont.) et Jeff Hagan (Leamington, Ont.) en étaient eux aussi à leur premier podium national. Norris a fait ses débuts au Tall Pines il y a cinq ans, et a surmonté des problèmes cette année pour terminer troisième au classement général. Un manque de puissance turbo survenu à la mi‑journée a forcé l'équipe à prendre des pénalités pour réparer. Une fois de retour sur la route, ils ont poussé incroyablement fort pour rattraper le temps et les positions au classement.

"J'ai eu tellement de hauts et de bas aujourd'hui", a dit Norris. "Les choses allaient bien ce matin, quand nous étions troisièmes, puis nous avons eu des problèmes de turbo et avons perdu du temps. De pouvoir remonter le classement a rendu cette journée bien spéciale."

Simon Dubé (Jonquière, Qc.) a terminé sa saison avec une victoire dans la catégorie deux roues motrices, avec l'aide de son copilote Eric Lachance (St-Bruno-Lac-St-Jean, Qc.). Dubé a eu des expériences diverses dans ce rallye par le passé, mais a seulement eu des problèmes mineurs cette année. Une crevaison dans une spéciale a forcé l'équipe à ralentir, perdant seulement quelques secondes pour une performance quasi parfaite.

"ce fut une journée difficile, surtout dans les trois dernières spéciales parce que je commençais à me sentir mal", a dit Dubé. "J'ai remporté le championnat deux roues motrices une fois de plus, et j'ai terminé sixième alors je suis extrêmement content. Ce fut une saison incroyable, et toute l'équipe a été d'un grand support tout au long de l'année."

Le Rally of the Tall Pines marque la fin de la saison 2015 du Championnat des Rallyes Canadiens. Sillonnant les routes forestières au cœur du bouclier canadien, l'édition 2015 a demandé énormément de chacune des équipes. Des précipitations de pluie la veille du rallye ont détrempé les routes, les transformant en mélange de gravier et de glace lorsque les températures nocturnes sont descendues sous le point de congélation. Tandis que l'adhérence était somme toute présente, quelques sections étaient lisses et boueuses. Dans ces conditions imprévisibles, quelques équipes se sont fait prendre, mettant fin à leurs espoirs en début de course. Le rallye comprenait près de 200 kilomètres de spéciales chronométrées.

Le Championnat des Rallyes canadiens comprend six évènements, tenus à la grandeur du Canada, et qui se déroulent de février à novembre. La série est présentée par Subaru Canada. La Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS) est l'organisme qui sanctionne le rallye au Canada.

Le rallye est souvent décrit simplement comme "de vraies voitures, sur de vraies route, vraiment rapides." Ce sport motorisé toute saison voit des pilotes et leur copilote conduire des voitures de rue modifiées jusqu'à la limite. Ils conduisent à de très grandes vitesses sur des routes fermées qui sont en général constituées de 150 kilomètres de gravier, de terre battue, ou de neige. Les spectateurs peuvent s'approcher des voitures dans les aires de service et aussi suivre l'action dans des aires spécialement désignées pour les spectateurs qui offrent les meilleurs points de vue des routes.

Peterborough Speedway Celebrates a Successful 2015 Season

Drivers, teams, staff and officials from Peterborough Speedway gathered Saturday, November 28^th at The Ranch Resort Banquet and Conference Centre in Bethany as Canada's Toughest 3^rd of a Mile Paved Oval as Peterborough Speedway celebrated its 2015 season.

Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse welcomed everyone to the evening's festivities with his annual 'State of the Speedway' address, acknowledging the contributions of corporate and divisional sponsors, as well as track personnel. Peterborough Speedway continues to grow the motorsports brand that started in a farmer's field nearly half a century ago and will make history for generations to come.

2015 was a homecoming of sorts for Dave Morgan. After a break from the weekly racing scene, the veteran campaigner from Buckhorn, Ontario returned to action at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City and claimed the Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model track championship. Kevin Buscher took the Late Model Rookie of the Year Honours, while Tyler Betts was named the Most Improved Driver. The division's Most Sportsmanlike driver – in memory of Terry Calvert – was Mark Gordon, while Bryan Sudsbury's #29 was named the Best Appearing Car.

Whoever said 'lightning never strikes in the same place twice' doesn't know Anthony DiBello. For the second year in a row, the driver of the #16 emerged with the Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car track championship. Bailey Jacobs captured the Rookie of the Year prize for the Thunder Car field, while Robert Richards won the Most Improved Driver honours. Tom Podd was named the Most Sportsmanlike Driver. The Best Appearing Thunder Car award went to Richards, with the #60 of Jacobs presented with the Thunder Car Hard Charger award.

Like DiBello, one track championship wasn't enough for Renegade Truck division pilot Jack Dallin as the driver of the potent #07 clinched the 2015 crown. Chris Burrage was named top first year runner in the class. Jordan Dallin took the Most Improved Driver hardware. The Most Sportsmanlike Driver was Burrage, with Jordan Dallin's #70 taking the Best Appearing Truck honours.

2015 was a banner year for Ennismore, Ontario's Tyler Junkin. He not only won the Mini Stock track point championship, he captured the Autumn Colours Classic title. Steve Brier was named Mini Stock Rookie of the Year, while Brandon Hannah captured the Most Improved Driver award. Kevin Strutt was named the Most Sportsmanlike driver, while Junkin's #41 was tabbed as the division's Best Appearing Car.

Multiple feature event wins and strong runs throughout the season helped pave the way to a 2015 Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun division track championship for Ryan Oosterholt. The Rookie of the Year in the class was Dave Feeney, who was also named the Most Improved Driver. For the second year in a row, Marilyn Junkin took the Most Sportsmanlike Driver award, with Jeremy Kelly's #80 was picked as Best Appearing Car.

ARCA Racing Series releases 2016 schedule

ARCA Racing Series releases 2016 schedule

(TOLEDO, Ohio – November 25, 2015) – The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will race 20 times in 2016, including eight races on superspeedways, nine on short tracks, two on dirt and one on a road course. The full schedule has been announced over the last few weeks.

The season will mark the third consecutive season with a 20-race schedule. ARCA raced 21 races in 2013 and 19 in 2011 and 2012.

"We are pleased to announce our full and complete schedule," ARCA President Ron Drager said. "We feel we have once again put together a schedule that highlights the diversity of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. We are excited for the start of the new season."

The series will kick off the 2016 campaign – as it has for more than 50 years – by racing at Daytona International Speedway. The race will be right before the NASCAR Sprint Unlimited and will help christen the newly-renovated Daytona Rising project.

The only different track on the schedule from 2015 is the return of the ARCA Racing Series to Madison, Wisconsin for Father's Day Weekend. There are other changes to the schedule, however.

For example, ARCA's Chicagoland date shifts to Thursday night, September 15 in primetime as part of a huge weekend of racing, which includes the kick-off for the Sprint Cup Chase Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016. The weekend also includes the Camping World Truck Series and the Xfinity Series.

The road course race at New Jersey will be on Saturday, May 28, instead of the Sunday afternoon race it has been the last few years. And, the race on the mile-dirt at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds is going to be a night race.

In addition, the ARCA Racing Series will celebrate milestone races with the 75th series event at Toledo Speedway and 99th and 100th races at Salem Speedway in southern Indiana.

The series will have companion races with all three of NASCAR's top touring series at one time or another in 2016, starting with the Daytona race in February, plus share Iowa Speedway with the Verizon Indy Car Series in July.

The race at Winchester Speedway will once again coincide with the King of the Wing sprint cars.

The return to Madison International Speedway in Wisconsin is good for the series' presenting sponsor, Drager said.

"It was important for us to schedule a race in the Menards market," Drager said. "Last year, we did not have a race in either Minnesota or Wisconsin and this year, we decided to go back. We are definitely looking forward to racing again at Madison and the upper Midwest."

The 2016 season will be part of ARCA's 64th consecutive season of competition since 1953.

Before moving ahead with the 2016 schedule, series officials will celebrate the 2015 season one final time with the annual banquet in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, Dec. 12.
