Brandt Graham's Sportsman Cup Series Title Defense Tour Heads 'Home' to Peterborough Speedway

Like a great pair of shoes or your favourite jeans, racecar drivers have certain tracks where they're more comfortable than others. Brandt Graham feels at home at Peterborough Speedway. The 19 year-old from Orono, Ontario spent a great deal of time during his formative years at the venue known as Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. From his father's track championship seasons, to his own Mini Stock racing career and now, as the reigning Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series champion, the second-generation speedster always looks forward to the events at the Central Ontario oval.

 

"Many of the places where we race are about a 3-hour drive away from our home base, so its great to be able to race in my own 'backyard'," Brandt Graham said. "I can't hear the fans while we're racing, but I know they're there. I'll sometimes take a look during a caution flag, but just for a second or 2. You have to stay focused on what's happening on the race track."

 

Heading into the Saturday, August 12th event at Peterborough, Brandt Graham is the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series point leader. The talented teenager – who recently graduated from Durham College and now works as a millwright at OPG, Darlington – had a 3-race winning streak – including capturing the 'Boss of the Beach Bonus' at Sauble Speedway – that led to his 2016 title. One of those checkered flags came at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.

 

"It's a track that certainly keeps you on your toes," admitted the young hot shoe. "You're always working hard to get that next position, without a lot of time to relax. It takes a good car to get to the winner's circle and I'm hoping we'll be able to score another checkered flag."

 

The Saturday, August 12th Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series event at Peterborough Speedway will also include the home track 4Fun, Mini Stock and Late Model divisions; as well as the Ontario Pro Challenge Series. Pit gates will open at 2:00, with spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and racing getting underway at 6:00.

Les premières historiques ne cesses de se succédées, après les 2 québécois sur le podium Gros-Blocs, samedi dernier la famille Clair au complet ont visité le podium et on retient surtout la victoire du patriarche en Sportsman . Ce samedi 5 août, c'est le retour du désormais célèbre «concours d'arrêt aux puits» pour la catégorie Modifiés. Spectaculaire à souhait, c'est le temps de voir les mécanos en action chronométrés, devant le grand estrade.


Les Modifiés seront an action lors d'une finale de 75 tours. David Hébert mène le championnat par un seul petit point devant Steve Bernard, 545 pts et 544 pts. Mathieu Desjardins est troisième avec 494 pts. Gougeon talonne Desjardins. donc le meneur au championnat peut changer ce samedi!


Dans la catégorie Sportsman, on se remet de nos émotions de la semaine dernière suite à la victoire du vétéran René Clair, 77 ans. Ils seront en piste pour 32 tours d'actions et de surprises. En Sportsman aussi c'est serré au championnat, Dany Gagné mène avec 549 pts, devant Martin Pelletier qui revient en force avec 544 pts. Bryan Cloutier et Félix Murray se font la lutte pour la troisième et quatrième place.


Les Lightning Sprint seront aussi de retour, ces derniers offrent toujours un spectacle de qualité. Les bolides les plus rapides sur la terre battue.


Noté que depuis quatre ans déjà, l'Autodrome Drummond offre l'entrée gratuite pour les gens qui habitent, les villages ou municipalité rurale du Québec, lors d'une soirée de course. Cette année les différents villageois du Québec pourront assister au programme du 5 août gratuitement.

Un 2e départ dans la série ARCA pour Raphaël Lessard en fin de semaine

 

Raphaël Lessard entreprendra son 2e départ de la saison en série ARCA dimanche après-midi au Winchester Speedway dans le cadre du Winchester ARCA 200. Lessard se joint une fois de plus à l'équipe  Venturini Motorsports au volant  de la voiture #25 Musselman's BIG CUP Apple Sauce-Toyota-Camry pour cette course en série ARCA.

 

Lessard, un pilote du programme de développement Toyota (TRD), espère bien profiter de l'expérience de sa dernière course sur cet ovale, la saison dernière, alors qu'il menait la course avec seulement 5 tours à faire dans le cadre du Winchester 400. Malheureusement une relance en fin de course et les jeux de coude qu'on y retrouve souvent l'ont fait glisser et terminer en 6e place.

 

L'ovale du WInchester Speedway est d'une longueur de 0.5 mille (0.8 km) avec des imposantes inclinaisons de 31 degrés dans les courbes et de 9 degrés dans les lignes droites. La première course ARCA au Winchester Speedway remonte à 1957 et son record de piste en qualification est de 15,837 secondes pour une vitesse de 113,658 MPH,obtenu par Ryan Blaney en 2011.

NASCAR Pinty's Series Finale Moved To Jukasa Motor Speedway

Canadian Championship Returns To Ontario Track

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 2, 2017) – NASCAR will crown its 2017 championship for stock car racing in Canada at the track that helped launch the series. NASCAR and Jukasa Motor Speedway announced today that the season finale for the NASCAR Pinty's Series will be moved to the Hagersville, Ontario, track.

 

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 23.

 

"We are looking forward to crowning our 2017 NASCAR Pinty's Series champion at Jukasa Motor Speedway," said George Silbermann. "Since the track was re-opened, we have talked about the series' return at some point, and when the opportunity arose to host the finale, they stepped up. The track has substantial history with the NASCAR Pinty's Series and stock car racing in Canada, and it's extremely fitting we crown Canada's national champion there."

 

Due to management changes at Kawartha Downs, NASCAR and Kawartha have agreed to mutually terminate the sanction for the event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16.

 

Jukasa, formerly known as Cayuga Speedway, was open from 1966-2009. Through its history, it hosted countless high-profile racing events and notable NASCAR stars from Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Allison to Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth. The .625-mile paved oval held the inaugural NASCAR Pinty's Series race in May of 2007. It held two races in each of the series' first two years before it closed.

 

The track was purchased in 2016 by Kenny Hill and Jerry Montour, and repaving began in late 2016.

 

"We've made no secret that we're looking to return the track to its status as 'Canada's Crown Jewel,' and hosting the country's championship event is a big step toward that goal," said Jukasa General Manager Alex Nagy. "When NASCAR approached us with the possibility of being added to the schedule, we jumped at the opportunity. A lot of hard work has gone into returning this track to its glory, and the season finale is a perfect stage for us."

 

The track now features banking up to 8.5 degrees with slight banking on the previously flat straightaways. The racing surface has also been expanded to 60 feet. The track sits on more than 350 acres and boasts 1,100 campsites.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series just completed its annual swing through western Canada, with Alex Labbe winning two of the three races to take the points leader over Kevin Lacroix and NASCAR Next driver Cayden Lapcevich. The race at Jukasa is one of five events remaining, with the series next racing at Quebec's Circuit de Trois-Rivieres on Sunday, Aug. 13.

There's a fresh page on the calendar, but the 50th Anniversary Season excitement continues at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. Saturday, August 5th Peterborough Speedway hosts the Touring Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier, with the year's only regular season appearance by the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model and Modified tours. Also on the program will be the OSCAAR Midgets, Pro Midgets and the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun and Jiffy Lube Mini Stock divisions. Kicking-off the 2017 Hot August Nights Series with such a high-profile event is sure to pack in the crowd.

 

There have been 5 different Super Late Model feature winners in 6 starts so far this year. Glenn Watson's pair of Kawartha Speedway checkered flags have him leading the point standings by 25 markers over Charlie Gallant. Tyler Hawn, Gary Passer and John Cadman Jr. round-out the Super Late Model top 5. Former Peterborough Speedway regular Cory Horner and Chris Milwain each have a pair of OSCAAR Modified main event wins, with Horner leading the standings by a slim 2-point margin over A.J. Emms, who has yet to score an 'A' main victory. Luke Gignac, Milwain and Gary Elliott complete the top 5 in Modified points. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says the Hot August Nights Series is the perfect place to showcase the OSCAAR stars.

 

"With the OSCAAR classes after guaranteed starting spots for the 25th running of the Autumn Colours Classic, fans will see a great show," Josiasse said. "Our home track 4Fun and Mini Stock divisions are also on the docket and looking for a boost in the overall standings. There should be some edge of your seat excitement every time the green flag waves."

 

For the Touring Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier – Saturday, August 5th – pit gates will open at2:00, with the general admission grandstands unlocked at 4:00. The first qualifying heat race rolls to starting line at 6:00. The Super Late Models are slated for a 50-lap feature event, with the Modifieds running a 30 lapper.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Scott Payea of Colchester, Vt. will attempt to extend his record-setting American Canadian Tour (ACT) winning streak in the Coastal 100 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday, August 5.

 

Payea recently drove the Harrison Redi-Mix Dodge Charger No. 37 to a record fourth straight Late Model win at Seekonk Speedway - despite being passed for the lead twice.

 

The Seekonk victory was Payea's 12th on the American Canadian Tour. It moved him into fifth place on the all-time ACT Late Model win list.

 

Dillon Moltz of Waterford, Conn., Rich Dubeau of Lebanon, NH, Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Vt., Jason Corliss of Barre, Vt. and Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass. are among the drivers who will attempt to end Payea's streak.

 

Corliss, an ACT Rookie of the Year contender, is currently fourth in the championship point standings. He finished a close second to Payea at Seekonk.

 

MacDonald has four top-5's in his last four ACT appearances at Beech Ridge including a 2013 win.

 

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is located on 70 Holmes Road in Scarborough, Maine, one-half mile from the Maine Turnpike.

 

Grandstands open at 3 p.m. Qualifying events begin at 7 p.m. The NASCAR Nites Pro Series, Sport Series and Wildcat divisions will also be in action. Adult admission/$25 – Kids 12 and under admitted free.

NAPLES, ME (August 1) – Oxford Plains Speedway owner and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today that two sponsors from opposite ends of the country will team up to sponsor the 44th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  Maine-based Scott's Recreation will join with Utah-based Fastway Trailer Products to sponsor the prestigious race, which will also air nationwide on MAV TV.  The 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250, presented by Fastway Trailer Products will take place on August 25-27 at Oxford Plains Speedway and will pit the best short track racers in North America against one another, with over $25,000 going to the winner.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road motors into the month of August with WDEV Radio/Calkins Portable Toilets Night thisThursday, August 3. Four divisions of action will be on the card, with the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors all set to do battle on the Barre high banks.

 

The championship chases tightened up considerably at the Times Argus Mid-Season Championships, setting up a thrilling home stretch for the 2017 season. In the Thunder Road Late Models, Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien remains the point leader, but saw his lead over South Burlington's Trampas Demers shrink to just 11 markers. Therrien bounced off the wall early in last Thursday's double-points event and had to fight back from a series of pit stops to finish sixth, while Demers took second to cut into the deficit. It was Demers' fifth straight top-five finish.

 

"I really think it's just a better understanding of the race track and working it into the way our car is set up," Demers said of his hot streak. "The big thing now is just not to get tied up in (the title chase). Consistent finishes are what's going to make it possible to be in the hunt come the last race in September."

 

Barre's Jason Corliss sits in third place 50 points pack, ready to strike should Therrien and Demers have an off night. Milton's Scott Dragon is fourth in the standings and remains very much alive in his bid for back-to-back "King of the Road" titles. Fellow Milton racer Eric Chase completes the top-five.

 

Wolcott's Brendan Moodie remains atop the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger standings, but like Therrien, saw his margin shrink considerably last Thursday. Despite the 2015 Champion's fourth-place effort in the feature, a subpar qualifying result allowed 1991 Champion Dwayne Lanphear of Morrisville to close the gap to just nine points. 2014 Champion Jason Woodard of Waterbury Center made even bigger gains to pull within 19 points of the top spot. Three-time 2017 feature winner Trevor Lyman and top rookie Jaden Perry sit fourth and fifth.

 

The Allen Lumber Street Stocks have been close all season and remain so heading into WDEV/Calkins Night. Morrisville's Brandon Lanphear used a runner-up finish last Thursday to ascend to the top of the heap. Lanphear sits five points ahead of Mid-Season Championship winner Cooper Bouchard of Hinesburg and eight points up on Fairfax veteran Alan Maynard. Jamie Davis and Reilly Lanphear have both taken turns in the point lead this season and could reclaim the top spot on Thursday as well.

 

WDEV/Calkins Night goes to post at 7:00pm this Thursday, August 3. The evening will also feature the annual "Port-a-Potty Grand Prix", as the point leaders from each division will compete to determine the fastest port-a-potty in the state. The pits open at 3:30pm and the general admission gates open at 5:15pm. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

 

Thunder Road will then be right back in action on Sunday, August 6 at 6:00pm with the 33rd M&M Beverage Enduro 200 plus the Brian Perry & Sons Street Stock Special. One hundred cars or more are expected for the $3,000-to-win "People's Race" which will see the field start three-wide with no yellow flags. The Allen Lumber Street Stocks will run their annual 50-lap special with $500 going to the winner. The pits open at 2:00pm and the front gates open at 3:00pm. Admission is $15 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under.

Après 2 semaines d'inactivité, les pilotes du circuit ovale de l'Autodrome St-Eustache seront de retour en piste ce samedi 5 août 2017. Beaucoup d'action à prévoir alors que la mi- saison est déjà derrière nous. Soirée qui devrait également être empreinte d'émotion, alors que l'on soulignera le triste départ, trop tôt, de Steve Aubin-Brown, décédé du cancer dans les derniers jours. Petit-fils de Claude Aubin ancien propriétaire de l'Autodrome St-Eustache, et filleul du pilote NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil, Stéphane Aubin, cette soirée de course sera d'ailleurs tenue en son honneur.

Le 8 juillet dernier, alors qu'il effectuait son premier départ de la saison, Stéphane Aubin #26 de Boisbriand, avait terminé l'épreuve en 2e position après une solide remontée, derrière Steve Côté #1 de l'Ile Bizard. Beaucoup d'émotion pour le pilote de la voiture#26 car il courait ce soir là, en soutien à son filleul Steve, qui se battait à ce moment contre un tenace cancer. Malheureusement, ce dernier aura perdu son combat dans les jours suivants. Ce samedi, ce sera une course en hommage à Steve que Stéphane disputera, et il pourra désormais compter sur un équipier supplémentaire. Cet équipier ne sera pas physiquement présent à l'ASE samedi soir, mais c'est sous la forme d'ange gardien aux côtés du pilote dans la voiture #26 qu'il se présentera. Si Sylvain Lacombe #3 de Terrebonne, a prouvé que Steve Côté pouvait être battu lors du dernier programme, samedi soir, Stéphane Aubin a bien l'intention de monter sur la plus haute marche du podium, celle la plus près du ciel…

NASCAR Légende Modifiée Thérien Performance

À l'image de Canadiens/Nordiques, une rivalité s'est implanté dans cette excitante division. En effet, la ''guerre'' est officiellement déclarée entre le champion en titre Stéphane Caron #99 de Laval, et Jessy Lambert #64 de St-Eustache. Ce dernier trône maintenant au sommet du classement des pilotes avec 10 points d'avance sur Caron. Ces pilotes se sont partagés les honneurs lors du programme double le 22 juillet dernier, remportant chacun une victoire. Quelques touchettes et quelques frustrations entre ces deux adversaires, auront certainement contribués à alimenter cette rivalité naissante. Une course à surveiller samedi soir, avec une plus d'une vingtaine de voitures en piste.

NASCAR Sport Compacte MRQ présenté par ZSB Distributions

Yannick Miron #90 de Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, se retrouve au cœur de la lutte au championnat de cette division depuis quelques années déjà mais n'est pas encore parvenu à récolter les honneurs de fin de saison. Est-ce que 2017 sera différente et qu'il parviendra à décrocher le titre? Si le principal intéressé est en accord avec cette tangente, le vétéran Robin Harrisson #3 de Laplaine lui, est d'un tout autre avis. Avec seulement 8 points d'avance sur Miron, Robin Harrisson, compte bien faire perdurer la ''malédiction'' sur Miron, en le privant de la plus haute marche du podium. Steve Beauchamp #42 de Cantley a effectué un ''fumant'' retour à la compétition récemment, est-ce que les 2 dernières semaines de congé auront permis au pilote de la voiture ZSB Distributions  de procéder aux ajustement nécessaires pour se retrouver dans le peloton de tête samedi soir? C'est ce que nous verrons au cours de la finale de 30 tours de cette division samedi.

Challenge 4 Perry Performance

Déception cette saison pour cette série qui nous avait habituée à des grilles de départ bien garnies depuis plusieurs saisons. Avec à peine 10 voitures en piste en moyenne par programme cette saison, l'organisation de l'ASE se penchera sur le dossier à la fin de la saison afin de raviver la flamme de cette division de développement. Pour l'instant, pas beaucoup d'adversité pour Kevin Huet #05 de Ste-Sophie, invaincu cette saison.

Une superbe soirée de courses de stock-car qui vous sera présentée par le Restaurant St-Hubert de St-Eustache. Les qualifications débuteront à 18h55 et les finales sont prévues pour 20h15. L'admission générale est de $20.00 par adulte, 10$ pour les 13 à 17 ans et est gratuit pour les enfants de 12 ans et moins. Comme à l'habitude, le stationnement est gratuit et les amateurs ont même la possibilité de camper sur place sans aucun frais supplémentaire. Retour en Beauce pour la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil

 



Ce vendredi 4 août, la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil participera à son unique programme de la saison sur le tracé de l'Autodrome Chaudière Vallée-Jonction. Ce sera l'occasion de renouer avec les fans beaucerons de la Série !

 

Ce programme est le dernier du 2e round du Sportsman for the Cup. Le pilote qui sera vainqueur obtiendra son laisser-passer pour le 3e round en compagnie du #41 Samuel Charland, du #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque et des 3 premiers pilotes qui au classement du Sportsman for the Cup.

 

Le #07 Jonathan Cote de Saint-Jean-Chrysostome et actuellement meneur de ce classement avec 1108 points. À égalité avec Labrecque en 2e position, on retrouve le #88 Xavier Pelchat de Saint-Félicien (1106 points). Le jeune pilote de 16 ans à beaucoup progresser cette saison et renouera avec le tracé où il a fait ses débuts en Sportsman Qc il y a deux ans.

Le #67 Dominic Jacques de Vallée-Jonction sera assurément un des pilotes favoris pour ce programme. Un tracé qui n'a pas de secret pour le champion 2015 qui y a évolué en classe locale avant de faire le saut avec la Série. Il occupe actuellement le 4e rang au classement du Sportsman for the Cup avec 1103 points.

 

Vous pourrez aussi voir le #25 Pier-Luc Labbé de Saint-Joseph de Beauce. Labbé qui a remporté le Steve Lesage 150 en début de saison sait que ce programme représente sa chance de se classer pour la prochaine étape. Son expérience sera un atout pour ce programme de 50 tours qui pourrait être déterminant.

 

Participant aussi au programme Nascar Late Model lors de cette journée, l'équipe #41 Samuel Charland ne chômera pas ! Charland qui performe très bien depuis le début de la saison sur ce tracé vise assurément la victoire pour cette épreuve.

En ce qui concerne le championnat des recrues, le #14 Randy Goulet de Beauport a pris les devants lors du dernier programme. Rappelons qu'il a mené en quasi-totalité le deuxième segment à l'Autodrome Saint-Félicien avant que son moteur lui fasse fausse route avec plus que 2 tours à faire. Beaucoup de travail attend l'équipe de la relève mais nous savons qu'ils reviendront en force.

Le #96 Alain Hamel a été victime d'un bris de différentiel lors de la dernière épreuve. Eux aussi devront travailler sur la voiture avant de la remettre en piste. Avec seulement 2 points d'écart, la lutte sera chaude pour le titre de recrue 2017.

 

Avec les enjeux qu'on lui connaît, cette épreuve de 50 tours promet d'être haute en adrénaline ce vendredi 4 août.  Soyez des nôtres pour encourager nos pilotes!
