PASS South To Headline “MegaShow” At Caraway On Sunday

PASS South To Headline "MegaShow" At Caraway On Sunday

-For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 14) – After being delayed a week due to weather, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models will return to action Sunday afternoon at Caraway Speedway.  The RGS Products 125 will pair two of the regions premier touring divisions as the PASS South Super Late Models will be joined by the season opening event for the Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) Tour Modifieds.  With the last weekend's cancellation, officials from PASS and Caraway Speedway decided to take this already huge weekend of racing up another notch by also including the 602 Super Limiteds, 602 Modifieds, and Limited Late Models to create a huge day of short track action on Sunday

Over the last two seasons, Kannapolis, NC's Matt Craig has been one of the most dominant short track drivers in the country.  In addition to becoming the first ever competitor to ever capture two PASS South championships, he has won the last two races at Caraway Speedway, including in 2016 when he came back from being two laps down.

"I've done good at Caraway, ever since my first Legends car race there, I like it a lot," says Craig, driver of the C&C Boilers Sales & Service Chevrolet #54.  "It has hard breaking and long straightaways.  I have to thank my team for the cars they bring me to the track.  I'm not sure what it is at Caraway, but we always seem to have speed there."

Craig will have his work cut out for him to make it three in-a-row at Caraway on Sunday, with a field packed full of talented rookies including "Mad" Max McLaughlin, Gracie Trotter, and Blaise Robertson.  Fellow rookies Greg Burgess and Charles Barnes have also filed entries.  Not to mention veterans like Brandon Setzer, Tate Fogleman, Roy Hayes, Kevin Floars, JP Josiasse, Kodie Conner, Jimmy Doyle, and Ryan Moore, all hoping not only to keep Craig out of victory lane at Caraway, but also to stop him from capturing a third straight PASS South championship.

"Another championship would be unbelievable and hopefully we can get it done this year," says Craig.  "It sounds like there are going to be a lot of competitive cars chasing us this year."

All the action gets under way on Saturday at Caraway Speedway with optional practice for all competing divisions from 12 – 6 PM.  On Sunday, practice will begin at Noon, with qualifying starting at 1:40 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models and SMRS Tour Modifieds, followed by main events starting at approximately 2:30 PM.

PASS Super Late Model entry forms for the events at Caraway, Hickory, Thompson, Oxford Plains, Beech Ridge, and the 45th Annual Oxford 250 can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

'Case' Study: NASCAR, Busch Beer Announce Return of Busch Pole Award

Anheuser-Busch's Busch Beer Becomes 'Official Beer of NASCAR,'

Fastest Qualifier to Earn Busch Pole Award

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2018) – NASCAR and Anheuser-Busch announced today a multi-year agreement that welcomes the global brand back as an Official Partner and designates Busch Beer as the "Official Beer of NASCAR®." The new partnership builds upon Busch's industry-wide presence and includes sponsorship of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ Busch Pole Award, rewarding the driver with the fastest qualifying time each week.

"We are continuing to evolve our presence in NASCAR because we believe in the power and loyalty of NASCAR fans," said Chelsea Phillips, Vice President, Value and Beyond Beer brands, Anheuser-Busch. "Returning as the Official Beer of NASCAR strengthens our deep-rooted history in the sport and will provide fans with even more opportunities to enjoy a crisp, cold Busch beer on race day."

Anheuser-Busch's history in NASCAR dates back decades to 1978, when it sponsored the Busch Pole Award. Additionally, Busch was the "Official Beer of NASCAR" from 1988 through 1997. Beginning in 1998, Anheuser-Busch sponsored the Bud Pole Award through its Budweiser brand, which also became the "Official Beer of NASCAR" through 2007.

"The Busch Pole Award is one of the most recognized programs in NASCAR and partnering with a global marketer like Anheuser-Busch will further elevate the value of the program and our sport," said Lou Garate, Vice President, Partnership, NASCAR. "Anheuser-Busch has a storied history in NASCAR dating back to the 1970s and we know our fans will celebrate and support Busch's return as the 'Official Beer of NASCAR.'"

The Anheuser-Busch sponsored Pole Awards were awarded to many of NASCAR's most iconic drivers. Geoff Bodine won the last Busch Pole Award at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1997. In 2007, Jimmie Johnson won the last Anheuser-Busch sponsored Pole Award (Bud Pole Award) at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the same race he won his second championship.

Competitors can become eligible for the Busch Pole Award beginning this weekend at Auto Club Speedway. At the end of the season, drivers who accumulate the most Busch Pole Awards in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series are awarded the season-ending Busch Pole Award.

As part of the partnership, Anheuser-Busch joins the NASCAR Fuel for Business Council®, bringing together an exclusive group of more than 50 NASCAR Official Partners to buy and sell products and services from one another.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season continues at Auto Club Speedway with the Auto Club 400 on Sunday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Biggest Year Yet Planned For Airborne Park Speedway

Biggest Year Yet Planned For Airborne Park Speedway

PLATTSBURGH – The 2018 season at Airborne Park Speedway will return the same five regular racing divisions, with one of them receiving a name change. The 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Mini-Mods and Strictly Stocks will return under the same name, with the Renegade division being replaced with the title of Super Stocks.

The World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series highlights the 2018 season as the premier event. This event will have the greatest magnitude of any event run in the speedway's existence. Drivers from across the United States and Canada will venture to the 4/10th mile for the event that will payout over $52,000 in purse money on Wednesday, July 25. The series competes throughout the United States and the event at Airborne is the furthest in the northeast they will travel.

In addition, the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds will invade the speedway for the second consecutive season. They will be in action just six days after the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Tuesday, July 31. The top names of Matt Sheppard, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker and Max McLaughlin are signed up for a full season with the Super DIRTcar Series and will do battle for over $33,000 is purse money.

The Empire Super Sprints will appear twice in 2018. A popular hit last season, they return and expect even bigger and better car counts than last season. They set the fastest lap times at Airborne during the 2017 season. The Fall Finale will include over $16,000 in purse money for the American/Canadian Sprint Car Clash in September.

DIRTcar also has regional touring series that will stop at Airborne in 2018. The DIRTcar Sportsman Series and Pro Stock Series have a following throughout the northeast and into Canada.

Airborne Park Speedway and Mohawk Raceway will have a five race Sportsman Series this season. Two events will be run at Airborne on May 26 and August 11, with the other three being held at Mohawk on July 20, August 31 and September 14. Each race will be a 50-lap distance.

Opening day is scheduled for April 28 with a post time of 6 p.m. All five of the regular racing divisions will be in action with the DIRTcar Sportsman Series headlining the card. A strong field of Sportsman drivers out of the Province of Quebec are expected as Quebec tracks are not scheduled to race that early in the season.

Pre-season events on the schedule include a car show at the Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15. Drivers will be on hand to meet with fans and display their cars for the upcoming season. The following weekend will be an open practice with a time to be announced at a later date.

With a year under our belt, we expect our product to get bigger and better and to see another increase in cars and our fan base. With the addition of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, our exposure to the racing community throughout the east coast will increase and the return of the DIRTcar Series and Empire Super Sprints will continue to impress our current fan base. Whether you are a regular or a part-time visitor, we look forward to seeing you at Airborne Park Speedway in 2018.

Electric City 167 Sparks New Excitement for the 26th Autumn Colours Classic

Electric City 167 Sparks New Excitement for the 26th Autumn Colours Classic

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Racing's biggest events create the most excitement and officials at Peterborough Speedway have created the biggest buzz of the 2018 season with the announcement of the inaugural running of the Electric City 167. A combined event for Late Model and Pro Late Model teams, the spectacular event – to be staged during the 26th edition of the Autumn Colours Classic – has a guaranteed payday of $5000 to the winner, plus another $4175 in potential lap sponsorship up for grabs.

"Recent developments in the Limited Late Model rules have moved those cars closer to the provincial Pro Late Model package and we thought the timing was right for a big money event that combined the 2 popular Late Model divisions," said track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse.

While the famed Autumn Colours weekend was already a marquee event in its own right, it lacked the prestige of a headlining race. The Electric City 167 fits that bill to perfection, while also keeping the racer's budget in mind. In addition to qualifying through time trials and a last-chance race, the main event will be run on a set of 4 tires for the 167-lap distance, with drivers allowed to utilize tires used in practice in the event of a flat.

The Electric City 167 pays homage to Peterborough's storied past as home to General Electric for the last 125 years, while also reflecting on 1967, the year Peterborough Speedway was built. In addition to Peterborough being the first city in Canada to have electric street lights, G.E. established itself in 1892 and remained a major employer in the region, with a workforce of 6,000 at its peak.

While the rules package for the Electric City 167 has yet to be finalized, Peterborough Speedway officials are determined to ensure a level playing field for racers with either type of Late Model equipment, creating the largest change to the Autumn Colours Classic since the show became a 3-day event in 2008.

Additional awards will be announced and a final set of event rules will be released in the following months. For more information, please contact Peterborough Speedway at705.743.5880, via e-mail: info@peterboroughspeedway.com, visit www.peterboroughspeedway.com or the track's Facebook page or Twitter feed.

RGS Products 125 Rescheduled for Sunday March 18th at Caraway Speedway

RGS Products 125 Rescheduled for Sunday March 18th at Caraway Speedway

Due to forecasted weather for this weekend and teams traveling a long distance to participate in the RGS Products 125, Caraway Speedway and series officials have made the decision to reschedule this Sunday's race.  The event will be made up next Sunday, March 18th at 2:30pm.

"With rain forecasted Saturday night and into Sunday, we think it's in our best interest to reschedule this race to next weekend," Caraway Speedway General Manager Renee Hackett said. "There's a lot of teams traveling to Caraway Speedway this weekend and we think it's important that we save them money with such a questionable forecast."

The makeup event on Sunday, March 18th will go green at 2:30pm with a revamp schedule of divisions.  The PASS (Pro All-Stars Series) Super Late Models, Southern Modified Racing Series, 602 Super Limiteds, 602 Modifieds and Caraway's Limited Late Model division will all compete in the event.

Tickets for the event will be $20 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 years old and kids five and under will get in free.  Pit passes will be $40 for the event.  An open practice will be hosted on Saturday from 12noon to 6pm for $25 per person.

THE RING BROTHERS-BUILT PRESTONE JAVELIN DEFIANT! WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

THE RING BROTHERS-BUILT PRESTONE JAVELIN DEFIANT!
WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 9, 10 & 11, 2018 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // MARCH 2, 2018 • One of the highlights of the SEMA show in Las Vegas last fall was the unveiling of a stunning 1972 AMC Javelin AMX in the Prestone booth.

Built by the legendary Ring Brothers and dubbed "Defiant!" the car is powered by a 6.2-litre Hemi Mopar Hellcat engine, fitted with a Whipple 4.5-litre Supercharger that produces 1,036 horsepower!

But it's Jim and Mike Rings' incredible attention to design and detail that has made the car the attention magnet it's become in the months since its debut.

Defiant! is the cover car on this month's issue of Hot Rod Magazine. Add that exposure to recent appearances on Jay Leno's Garage and countless internet sites, and millions of auto enthusiasts have been exposed to pictures, videos and information on this incredible car.

Defiant! will make its Canadian debut at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by Mothers. The show takes place March 9, 10 & 11 at Toronto's International Centre.

Arguably the wildest custom vehicle ever to come out of the Ring Brothers shop in Wisconsin, its extreme appearance, cutting-edge construction techniques and four-digit horsepower output have made it the hottest build in the industry.

Commissioned by Prestone, the Ring Brothers were approached to build a special vehicle. Turns out Jim and Mike already had a canvas in mind – a 1972 Javelin that had been rolling around their hometown for over four decades.

With a 12-month deadline until the 2017 SEMA show, the duo went to work digitally designing their vision, and then building it in their machine shop and carbon fiber facility.

The Rings extended the Javelin's wheelbase by moving the wheels forward six and a half inches. The car's distinctive wheel arches were moved forward and recreated in carbon fiber to pair with a new hood, front fenders, grille and front valance. Other custom details include tail lights, bumpers, trim and engine bay accessories all machined out of blocks of aluminum at the Ring Brothers facility.

"I was at the Prestone booth at SEMA (below) when Jessi Combs introduced the Ring Brothers and talked with them about the car," said Motorama co-promoter Greg MacPherson. "There was a huge crowd and everyone gasped when they pulled the cover off. It's a beautiful car and people were all over it for long periods of time checking out every minute detail.

"We couldn't believe it when we heard that there was a possibility that Defiant! could come to the Toronto Motorama show. Thank you to Prestone and Mike O'Connor of the Evolution / Gem-Sen Group of Companies for making this happen!"

In addition to bringing the Prestone Javelin to Motorama, Prestone is also giving a jug of anti-freeze to every car in competition in the custom car and hot rod categories. Vehicle owners who have displayed the product beside their vehicles throughout the show will be eligible for thePrestone Cool Pick Award and a special prize.

ABOUT PRESTONE: Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Prestone is the number one branded consumer choice for antifreeze/coolant, brake fluid, and power steering fluid in North America. STREET OUTLAWS STAR JEFF LUTZ AND DRAG WEEK CHAMP DAVID SCHROEDER TO APPEAR WITH THEIR CARS AT TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

STREET OUTLAWS STAR JEFF LUTZ AND DRAG WEEK CHAMP DAVID SCHROEDER TO APPEAR WITH THEIR CARS AT TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 9, 10 & 11, 2018 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // MARCH 5, 2018 • In 2015, Jeff Lutz brought his Drag Week-winning '57 Bel-Air – one of the legendary 'Evil Twins' – to the inaugural Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by Mothers. A year later, he was back at the show with his incredible '69 street legal Camaro Pro Mod dubbed 'Mad Max,' which also dominated Drag Week.

After a one-year hiatus, Lutz is returning to Toronto and Motorama, this time brining his stunning 3,500 horsepower '57 Chevy that is currently working its way up 'The List' on Discovery Channel's hit showStreet OutlawsMotorama runs March 9, 10 & 11 at The International Centre, across from Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

Lutz, who hails from Callery, PA, and his car will be appearing in a Drag Week feature booth alongside of another Drag Week champ – Toronto's own David Schroeder. Schroeder will be making his Motorama debut and he'll be bringing the gorgeous '66 Corvette that he drove to victory last fall at Drag Week, earning the Overall and Unlimited Class titles.

The display will also feature Schroeder's previous Hot Rod Drag Week ride, a red '55 Chevy, as well as the trailer he uses to haul tires and equipment from track-to-track during the unique competition.

Drag Week rules stipulate that the race vehicle must also function as a street legal tow vehicle, getting the driver, the race car, tools and equipment to the various tracks.

There are quarter-mile competitions on five consecutive days at four different tracks around the US Midwest, requiring the cars to travel more than 1,000 miles on public roads and highways without the aid of support vehicles. It's a gruelling competition that takes a heavy toll on the racers and equipment.

To make his third Toronto appearance, Lutz and his son, Jeff Jr., will be driving all-night from Oklahoma City after a day of filming an episode of Street Outlaws.

"Since the first time we met Jeff Lutz and his family – including their two appearances atMotorama and running into them regularly at SEMA and PRI – it's always been a pleasure to see them," said Motorama co-promoter Greg MacPherson. "We're honoured that he and Jeff Jr. are making this huge effort to make it back to Motorama and we can't wait to have them and their '57 Chevy at the show.

"We're also very excited about David Schroeder being able to come. This is something we've worked on for several years but the timing hasn't worked out… until now. Having a Torontonian as the reigning Drag Week champion and him bringing his winning car – as well as his '55 Chevy and his trailer – is a huge thrill. We're excited that Canadian car and racing fans will be able to meet Jeff and David, see their cars, and get a good idea of what Drag Week is all about."

Lutz and Schroeder will be at Motorama throughout the show, signing autographs and meeting fans, at their booth in Hall 2.

They'll also be participating in the drag racing panel discussion on The Johnsonville Stage onSaturday, March 10 at 12:30 p.m., alongside of 2016 NHRA Funny Car champion Ron Capps and other local straight-line racers.
