Gregory to Executive Vice President; Jung and Herbst to Vice President

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 12, 2018) – NASCAR today announced several leadership promotions across its marketing and media operations. Jill Gregory has been promoted to executive vice president & chief marketing officer. Gregory oversees all NASCAR marketing operations and reports directly into NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Steve Phelps. 

 

"Jill's strategic leadership has been invaluable in our sport's efforts to drive deeper engagement with our fans whenever and wherever they may be," said NASCAR President Brent Dewar. "Her passion for our fans and the sport of NASCAR has played an important role in galvanizing our industry to collaborate and grow our sport smartly together."

 

Gregory has played a pivotal role in the development of key industry marketing platforms, including the launch of the Industry Action Plan, the development of NASCAR Next, the creation of the Industry Services group, and the refreshing of the NASCAR brand and associated marks and logos. Gregory will be the head of NASCAR's Charlotte, North Carolina, office.

 

Pete Jung has been promoted to vice president, brand marketing. Jung is responsible for all brand and consumer marketing efforts, including the implementation of key industry marketing initiatives. Jung joined NASCAR in 2014 after a successful career as a marketing executive at Mastercard, Time Inc. and Publicis.  Jung reports into Gregory and will be based in Charlotte. 

 

Brian Herbst has been promoted to vice president, global media strategy and distribution. Herbst is responsible for continuing to develop new media distribution opportunities and digital content partnerships for NASCAR as the media landscape evolves. Herbst joined NASCAR in 2005 and played an important role in the development of the industry's digital media strategy. Herbst reports into Steve Herbst, NASCAR senior vice president, broadcasting and production, and will be based in Charlotte.

La fougue et le talent de David Gagnon

En 2017, David Gagnon a effectué un retour avec la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil pour le grand plaisir des amateurs de la Série. Il avait prévu participer qu'à quelques programmes pour cette saison mais 2018 devrait nous permettre de le voir en piste à tous les programmes.

En seulement 3 courses l'an dernier, il aura réussi à se hisser à trois reprises dans le top 5 raflant de peu le podium. Ayant toujours d'excellentes aptitudes au volant de sa voiture, on a pu retrouver le pilote au tempérament fougueux mais qui avec le temps a su canaliser son énergie afin de nous offrir ses excellentes performances.

C'est en 2011 que la Série Sportsman Qc a accueilli dans ses rangs le pilote almatois. À sa première saison, il remporte le titre de recrue de l'année. Alors que tout s'alignait pour qu'il termine dans le top 10 du classement général, faute de budget pour la dernière course au programme, il a tout de même terminé au 14e rang au classement qui comptait 35 coureurs en plus d'atteindre à deux reprises l'objectif du top 10 durant la saison.

Conseillé par Michael Lavoie pour les ajustements de la voiture à nouveau cette saison, son équipe est composé d'Yves Thivierge, Maxime Bergeron, Éric Lachance, Styve Larouche, Mélissa Maltais ainsi que sa conjointe Mélanie Gagnon. Avec une équipe expérimentée et tout le talent qu'on lui connaît, David Gagnon sera sans aucun doute un pilote que l'on retrouvera parmi les meneurs.

Pour la saison 2018, il pourra compter sur Suspension Turcotte Alma comme commanditaire principal en plus d'Autolook Chicoutimi et Dimension Transport d'Alma.

68e saison d'action  à l'Autodrome Drummond 


Dur à croire, mais oui c'est le printemps, et qui dis Printemps, dis le retour du stock-car sur battue à l'Autodrome Drummond. C'est la période de l'année ou les amateurs de stock-car sur terre battue deviennent comme des lions en cages. Impatients de retrouver leurs sports et leurs pilotes préférés. Si vous êtes amateurs de sports motorisés, et que vous n'avez jamais eu l'occasion de voir du stock-car sur la terre battue, il n'est jamais trop tard, consultez le calendrier et venez nous visiter, vous tomberez en amour avec la forme de stock-car la plus spectaculaire en Amérique du Nord, vous ne serez pas déçu.


Toujours dans le but d'offrir un spectacle de qualité, Yan Bussière, qui en est à sa 14e saison en tant que promoteur, à effectué des travaux sur la piste l'automne passé. De la glaise fut ajoutée, et des manipulations sur la piste furent exécutées afin d'offrir plus de «collants». L'équipe de l'Autodrome Drummond est impatiente que la saison commence et que sorte enfin le soleil du printemps, pour faire fondre la neige, afin d'offrir aux amateurs le premier programme de courses, le 5 mai prochain.


Comme toujours nos classes maison sont, les Sportsman qui répondent toujours en grand nombre, et les spectaculaires Modifiés 358. En 2018, les STR et les Slingshot seront des réguliers, présents à presque tout les programmes. Concernant les Slingshot, ils animeront l'action sur le MiniDrome, au centre de la piste durant l'intermission, ces derniers seront même en action sur la grande piste le 24 juillet, lors de la première présence de la saison des Modifiés gros block. 


Steve Bernard, avec le championnat 2017 en poche, sera surement un sérieux prétendant, «Cowboy» Bernard, aura des opposants de tailles. Si David Hébert revient temps plein à Drummondville, ce dernier aura l'ambition d'ajouter un autre championnat à ses superbes statistiques. Mathieu Desjardins sera à surveiller tout comme Dany Bilodeau, toujours présent aux avant-postes. La famille Therrien, Clément, Alan et Alex sont de sérieux compétiteurs, tout comme la famille Clair, Mario et Gino qui sont des habitués du podium. Le vétéran Claude Brouillard et Sébastien Gougeon sont toujours capables de sortir un lapin de leurs chapeaux. Yan Bussière, reviendra au volant de son 21 Modifié 358 à temps plein. Après Josiane Plante, est-ce que le titre de recrue reviendra à une autre femme en 2018?  Chantal Provencher, fait le saut en Modifié.


Dany Gagné le champion 2017 ne sera pas de retour en Sportsman, Gagné fera ses débuts en Modifiés. Ce qui laisse la place aux prétendants habituels. Martin Pelletier et Bryan Cloutier voudront reprendre contact avec un championnat, tout comme les Bourque, Blain, Picotin et Murray qui seront en piste pour ne pas s'en laisser imposer.


Beaucoup de classes pour tous les goûts à l'Autodrome Drummond en 2018. En plus de nos classes maison, les spectaculaires Lightning Sprint, les Modlite seront de retour. Tout comme les spectaculaires ESS, et les pilotes vedette des Modifiés gros block, bien sur. Les Sports compact et les Pro-Stock viendront nous visiter et en fin de saison les Mini mod, nous ferons honneur de leurs présences. 


Vous constaterez que les grosses soirées sont de retour tel que: Rêve d'Enfants, GMC crate motor,  le Marche ou crève, La soirée Side Panel, Série DIRT Gros block et la série DIRT Pro-Stock, le spectaculaire concours d'arrêt aux puits, la soirée Top Less au profit du cancer du sein, la soirée des Champions, le Race Mania et j'en passe. Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval has been thrilling motorsports enthusiasts across Central Ontario for more than half a century. As the promotional team adds the finishing touches to the 51st consecutive season of action, Peterborough Speedway has put together several season ticket packages to help fans catch every second of the exciting 2018 schedule.

Again this year, the weekly divisions at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City will run extra distance main events. The Late Models will be first on the agenda, with a 50-lap feature Saturday, June 2nd. Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Super Stock teams take their turn June 23rd and July 7th, respectively; followed by the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stocks on Saturday, August 11th. There will also be an added twist to the regular season-ending Championship Clash on September 1st, with Top 10 Shootouts for all divisions.

Waterbury, VT – After spending the 2017 season up to his "Outlaw" ways, Eddie MacDonald will be rejoining the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) championship battle in 2018. The Rowley, MA driver has filed a full-season entry for the ACT Late Model Tour and will pursue the $10,000 prize for winning this year's title.

 

MacDonald last ran the full ACT campaign in 2016 when he finished third in the standings. He won two events last year as part of a limited schedule, giving him nine Tour victories in his career. In addition, he is a 5-time winner of the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and triumphed in the 2014 Vermont Milk Bowl.

 

"When the ACT schedule came out, a lot of the races interested us," MacDonald said. "We always try to plan our season out with the races that we'd like to run, and most of the races on the ACT schedule were ones that we would enjoy going to anyway. So we figured we might as well hit a couple extra ones and do them all.

 

"We don't usually worry about points," he added when asked about his title chances. "Our thing is that we just try to go out and run the best we can every week, and everything else plays into that and however it works out. Our goal is still the same – to go out there and try to win every week. You know that's not going to happen, but you still try to do the best you can and try to at least get a decent finish in the races that are more challenging."

 

Like the rest the ACT Late Model Tour, MacDonald will begin his 2018 championship quest at New Hampshire's Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 22 in the New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150. He was the 2014 Governor's Cup winner at the track his parents Red and Judy MacDonald owned and operated for many years. The track was sold to Norman Wrenn II this past winter.

 

"We're looking forward to going to Lee," MacDonald said. "We don't usually get to run the Test & Tune day beforehand, because usually that weekend we're in Bristol. So we're looking forward to being able to have that test day ahead of time. We'd really love to get a win at Lee. The track means a lot to me, and I always want to win that race, being the first one of the year. We were lucky enough to do that once before, and we're going to put in all the effort we can to try and make it happen again this year."

 

MacDonald will have plenty of competition at Lee and throughout the season. Defending ACT U.S. Champion Scott Payea of Milton, VT returns in search of a second straight title, while Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert and Lebanon, NH's Rich Dubeau rate to be consistent challengers. Defending Thunder Road Late Model Champion Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, VT has entered the Governor's Cup as has Barre, VT's Mike Ziter in a car prepared by Joey Pole Racing.

 

The 2018 ACT title hunt gets underway on Sunday, April 22 at 1:15pm at Lee USA Speedway. A full field is expected for the season-opening New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150. The R&R Tool Store Late Model Sportsmen and Northeast Classic Lites round out the card. The pit gates will open at 8:00am and the front gates will open at 9:00am.

 

An optional Test & Tune Day for ACT and for Lee's weekly divisions will be held Saturday, April 21. The pits will open at 8:00am with rotating practice sessions from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

UNE CREVAISON EMPÊCHE RAPHAËL LESSARD DE TRIOMPHER À NASHVILLE

 

Nashville, Tennessee, le 7 avril 2018 – Raphaël Lessard, membre du programme de développement Toyota (TRD), participait au North/South Super Late Model Challenge 100 au Fairgrounds Speedway à Nashville (Tennessee). C'est en 19ème position que Raphaël a terminé l'épreuve de 100 tours lors de laquelle 36 voitures prenaient le départ. 

 Cette course s'agissait d'un regroupement entre les séries ARCA/CRA Super Series, CARS Tour et la Southern Super Series (SSS). Lessard était sous la bannière CARS Tour, série où il a été sacré champion en 2016.

 Qualifiant la voiture en 6ème position pour l'épreuve de samedi soir, Raphaël s'est plutôt élancé du 8ème rang, car, comme il est coutume dans plusieurs épreuves de Super Late Model, les 8 premières positions sont pigées au hasard après la séance de qualification.

 C'est avec une excellente Toyota Camry #51 FRL Express/Mobil 1/Toyota préparée par Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) que Raphaël a pris le départ de la course en 8ème position, sur la ligne extérieure. Par contre, dès le premier tour, une neutralisation est venue donner le ton pour les premiers 11 tours qui ont vu 4 neutralisations. Raphaël s'est tout de même assuré de rester dans le peloton des meneurs, ne se distançant pas des pilotes aux avant-postes.

Au 40ème tour, la voiture de Raphaël a commencé à se dégrader en raison d'une crevaison lente sur le pneu arrière droit. La série ne permettant pas d'arrêts aux puits pour changement de pneu sauf si celui-ci est complètement à plat, Raphaël a dû compléter l'épreuve avec une voiture de plus en plus mauvaise. 

« Je suis très déçu du résultat, » explique Raphaël. « Nous avions une excellente voiture en début de course et nous étions au même rythme que les meneurs alors j'aurais pu facilement espérer un Top 3 ou mieux. Malheureusement la série ne permet pas d'arrêts aux puits pour changer les crevaisons sauf si le pneu est complètement à plat sur la jante. Comme c'est un incident hors de mon contrôle, je n'ai pas le choix que de regarder vers l'avant et de penser à ma prochaine course. Je tiens tout de même à remercier tous ceux qui ont regardé la course à la Cage-Brasserie Sportive, mes commanditaires FRL Express, Mobil 1 et Toyota ainsi que l'équipe Kyle Busch Motorsports, mes parents, mes partenaires et mes partisans. » 

 

Prochaine course au calendrier :

La prochaine course de Raphaël se déroulera samedi prochain le 14 avril sur le Toledo Speedway en Ohio dans la série ARCA/CRA.

NAPLES, ME (April 5) – After a long winter break, that has seen some venture south to compete, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model drivers from across New England and Canada are ready to tackle Connecticut's Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend for the first race of 2018. 

In addition to being the first action of the season for New England's top short trackers, the 44th Annual Icebreaker also serves as the second race of the PASS National Championship Series.  Following the first event held at South Carolina's Dillon Motor Speedway in February, race winner, Derek Griffith, finds himself leading 5-Time PASS National Champion, Ben Rowe, by just two points heading to Thompson.

One of the surprises to come out of Dillon was the emergence of PASS newcomer, Ray Christian, III.  In his first ever start at Dillon, the Uncasville, CT driver surprised everybody by leading a number of laps before eventually finishing third.  After a successful test at Thompson last weekend, Christian hopes another solid finish will keep him in the thick of the PASS National Championship fight.

"We are really excited for Thompson because it's a track I'm pretty familiar with," says Christian, driver of the Crazy Horse Racing #93 Chevrolet.  "After my run at Dillon, I'm much more comfortable in the car so we won't be learning a new track and a new car."

In addition to Christian, two North Carolina teenagers will be making their first trips to Thompson as they chase the national title in 2018, Kodie Conner and Jared Irvan. 

Conner has finished second the last two seasons in the PASS South title chase and hopes a good finish at Thompson will propel him to a strong showing at the next national championship race, the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in August. 

While another third-generation racer, Jared Irvan, a former winner in the PASS South series, will also be looking to challenge for the PASS National title in his first Super Late Model start at Thompson.  A first start in this type of car, but not at Thompson Speedway itself.

"I ran at Thompson last year in a K&N East car, so I think that will be to my advantage," said Irvan, piloting the famed #28 this weekend.  "I'm excited to be racing at Thompson and following the only true national schedule in Super Late Model racing.  The other guys running for the national championship definitely have their stuff together so it will be tough, but I can't thank my family enough for standing behind me.  I'm confident we can contend for a win this weekend."

In addition to Christian, Conner and Irvan, they will be joined by fellow National Championship contenders Derek Griffith, Ben Rowe, Jimmy Renfrew, Jr., and Sammy Gooden.  Former Thompson winner, Garrett Hall, will be back looking for another win along with Oxford 250 winners, Travis Benjamin and Glen Luce, as well as former PASS North champion, DJ Shaw, and contenders Derek Ramstrom, Todd Stone, Gabe Brown, Nicholas Cusak, Dillon Moltz, Brandon Turbush, Greg Nanigan, and Reid Lanpher.

            Action gets under way at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 6 with rotating practice for all divisions.  On Sunday, April 7, gates will open at 8 AM and feature events are set to go green at 12:30 PM.

C'est ce jeudi 05 avril, que s'est tenue la conférence de presse de la 49e édition du Salon de l'Auto Sport Miller Lite de Qc à l'Hôtel le Concorde.

Lors de cette conférence, M. Martin D'Anjou, promoteur de l'évènement a annoncé qu'avec ses 400 000pi2 d'exposition, l'édition 2018 devient le plus grand salon de l'histoire. Les organisateurs promettent des véhicules de haut niveau jamais vu à Québec. Le retour de la zone familiale Létourno service de pneu et mécanique, les jeunes seront comblés avec la présence de simulateurs de course, piste de course téléguidée avec Passe-temps 3000, des répliques du film Les Bagnoles, des mascottes et encore plus !

Pour cet évènement qui se tiendra au Centre de Foires d'ExpoCité qui se tiendra du 27 au 29 avril prochain, la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil et Mini Sportsman Qc Méchoui International sera bien représentée !

MILVERTON, ON,  Wednesday April 4, 2018:  Donald Theetge is excited to announce today that with the assistance of sponsors Mercedes-Benz St Nicolas and Circuit Acura he will contend for the 2018 NASCAR Pintys Series Championship.  Initially Theetge signed up to race in the nine oval events but with backing from his great sponsors, he will now contend for wins on both the ovals and the road courses.
 
"I can't tell you how happy we are to have Donald racing for us in all 13 events this year," said team owner Scott Steckly.  "He is a great competitor and very methodical in his approach and should be a force to be reckoned with in all of the events.  I fully expect he will be in the hunt for the 2018 NASCAR Pintys Series Championship when the final checkered flag falls in September."
 
In 2017, Donald had two near misses for wins and in 2018 he hopes to again contend for those wins and more to add to his racing resume. He also looks forward to a return to New Hampshire Motor Speedway as the NASCAR Pinty's Series makes its debut at this track in September; the first time the series has competed outside of Canada.  He has raced there in the ACT series three times over his career most recently in 2016.

Donald has been racing around Ontario, Quebec & the Northeastern United States for many years racking up wins and championships along the way.  In 2016, he decided to try his hand at two NASCAR Pintys Series races contracting 22 Racing to prepare and field his cars.  In those two races he won the pole in one and finished 4th in the other.  That wet his appetite to do more so he signed up to participate in all the eight oval events in 2017 again with 22 Racing & owner Scott Steckly.  His stats included one pole, 5 top 5's and 7 top 10's in eight races while leading 409 laps.  In 2018 he hopes to win some races and contend for the NASCAR Pintys Series Championship.

Waterbury, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Lee USA Speedway officials announced today that the 28th New Hampshire Governor's Cup has been postponed due to lingering snow from the past winter. The event has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 22 at 1:15pm.

 

The card of racing will remain the same, with the ACT Late Model Tour going 150 laps in their 33rd season opener. Lee's R&R Steel Late Model Sportsmen and the Northeast Classic Lites will also be in action.

 

"We got a lot of snow over the winter, just like much of the region did," Lee USA promoter Norman Wrenn, III said. "Despite the warmer weather recently, there is still a significant ways to go, and we just don't think the track can be ready by April 15. No one likes postponements, but given the current conditions, we believe pushing the event back a week will be better for teams and fans."

 

The optional practice day for the ACT Late Models and for the track's weekly divisions has also been rescheduled and will be held Saturday, April 21 at 12:00pm. The pits will open at 8:00am on both Saturday and Sunday while the front gates will open at 9:00am on Sunday.

Industry Leader Will Oversee All Commercial and Media Operations

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 3, 2018) – NASCAR today announced that Steve Phelps has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer. Phelps will oversee all NASCAR commercial and media operations. This role was previously held by Brent Dewar prior to his promotion to president last year.  Phelps will be based out of NASCAR's headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.

 

"Steve has worked passionately over the years to lead the sport and it's clear his impact is felt in all corners of the industry," said NASCAR President Brent Dewar. "We could not be more thrilled for him to step into the pivotal role of COO and we look forward to welcoming him back to Daytona Beach, where he'll continue to work closely with myself and the other members of the executive leadership team, including the Board of Directors."

 

As COO, Phelps will have broad influence on the sport. Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour is just over two weeks away from opening its 2018 season at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 15 with the annual New Hampshire Governor's Cup. While defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion Scott Payea enters the opener as the title frontrunner, a number of other drivers are preparing their own run at the $10,000 champion's purse.

 

Williamstown, VT's Jimmy Hebert is one of the early favorites to challenge for the 2018 championship. Hebert returned to the full ACT Late Model Tour schedule this past season in his #58VT Hebert Excavation Chevrolet and finished fourth in the final standings. He has been a contender throughout his career and will look to put it all together for the 10-race schedule.

 

"We've finished second, third, and now fourth, so obviously we'd like to contend for a championship this year," Hebert said. "We started to hit on a few things towards the end of 2017 that gave us some pretty good speed. We're hoping to continue that and maybe further it a little more.

 

"You can't really have any mess-ups is the biggest thing," he added. "If you have one bad race, you're pretty much all done. You've got to try and find yourself in the top-5 every week and hope it will play itself out."

 

Lebanon, NH's Rich Dubeau could be another driver who makes a strong run in 2018. The 2015 ACT Rookie of the Year has made big strides since then and cracked the overall top-5 last season for the first time. He also posted the first two podium finishes for his #30VT Upper Valley Equipment Rental team.

 

"I definitely think we have the potential – just like probably every other team says," Dubeau said. "You always want more. So we'll be looking to improve just like we have every year, but we're confident. I have an awesome group of guys around me. I owe it to those guys – they work their butts off.

 

"We'd love to finally get a win," Dubeau added. "I'm pretty optimistic about Groveton (Speedway 51), especially going there twice, and I feel good about Waterford. So it'd probably be between those two tracks. Then again, we finished third at Seekonk last year, and it was one of the last places I thought we were going to run well. So I wouldn't be surprised if we were to surprise ourselves."

 

Several other drivers could play a role in the title chase before the year is over. Steuben, ME's Rowland Robinson, Jr. had a career year in 2017 and hopes to be even better this season. New Hampshire's Corey Mason and Bryan Mason have both entered for the full season after previously winning Late Model championships at Speedway 51. Graniteville, VT's Chip Grenier has also filed an unexpected entry after running well in partial schedules in recent years.

 

All will be looking to get off to a strong start at Lee USA Speedway. The tricky 1/3-mile oval is known for testing man and machine during a 150-lap event. Those who can solve the riddle of a rapidly-changing track will be in prime position for the season ahead.

 

"The biggest thing at Lee is making your car last," said Hebert, who won the 2013 event. "The track gets so slick toward the end of the race. Whoever does that the best will usually be in the winner's circle."

 

The New Hampshire Governor's Cup on Sunday, April 15 at 1:15pm kicks off the 33rd season of ACT competition. Lee's R&R Late Model Sportsmen and the Northeast Classic Lites are also on the card. The pits will open at 8:00am and the front gates will open at 9:00am. An optional practice will be held on Saturday, April 14.
