Les familles à l'honneur

Après près d'un mois, les activités de stock-car reprennent à l'Autodrome Chaudière le samedi 15 août prochain. Pour ce programme, c'est les familles qui seront à l'honneur.

Dès la prise en charge de la programmation par le promoteur André Poulin, il était primordial pour lui de faire de cette journée, un moment bien spécial pour les jeunes. Se voulant à l'écoute de son milieu, M. Poulin a eu l'idée d'inviter pour l'occasion des familles dans le besoin de la région.

Avec la collaboration de Mme Nancy Lacroix, directrice de l'Association des familles Monoparentales et Recomposées la Chaudière, M. Poulin a invité près d'une centaine d'enfants ainsi que leurs parents à se joindre à nous pour la Journée des Enfants.

Les activités pour les enfants auront lieu entre 16h00 et 17h00. Au programme; tours de voitures avec nos pilotes, rencontre avec la sensation de l'heure le #71 Raphael Lessard de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce et plusieurs autres surprises.

Le programme de stock-car commandité par Sinto et FM 101.5 débutera par la suite avec comme classe principale la Série Sportsman Qc réunissant plusieurs pilotes de la région.

Seront aussi au programme nos 3 classes locales, les Mini Sportsman ainsi que les voitures STR-Slingshot.

Pour l'occasion, les familles pourront bénéficier d'un prix « Spécial famille » à 40$ accès estrade (2 adultes et leurs enfants). Le prix d'entrée unitaire sera de 25$/adulte, 15$/ 12 à 17 ans et gratuit pour les enfants de 11 ans et moins. Il faut ajouter 5$ supplémentaires pour l'accès aux puits.

L'horaire détaillé sera publié sur notre page Facebook ainsi que sur le site web de la série en début de semaine prochaine.

On vous attend en grand nombre; une journée qui promet de faire vivre de beaux moments aux petits et aux grands !

- Autodrome Granby. Ce vendredi 14 août 2015, nous avons de grands visiteurs : la course des non-voyants et la série Procam Supertruck en plus de nos réguliers Modifiés et Sportsman.



35x Modifié

 

David Hébert #ONE est toujours au sommet du cumul de l'Autodrome Granby, mais creuse l'écart avec 32 points sur le second. Alain Boisvert #73 a perdu sa deuxième place au classement au profit de Steve Bernier #25* suite au carambolage de la dernière course impliquant les deux voitures #73. Même chose pour Mario Clair qui passe de la position 7 à 8. Par contre, malgré leur implication dans l'accident, Yan Bussière #21 et Dominic Dufault #63 demeurent 5 et 6. Steve Bernard #54 toujours 4ème au classement se rapproche dangereusement de la 3ème place grâce à sa 3ème position finale vendredi passé.

 

30x Sportsman

 

Nos pilotes locaux Martin Pelletier #92 et Mathieu Desjardins #1M nous ont encore bien fait paraître du côté de Cornwall la dernière fin de semaine. Martin remporte la nouvelle série Bandit alors que Mathieu Desjardins en a gagné l'épreuve finale. Ils sont dans cet ordre en tête de classement chez nous devant Guy Ouellette #32, Martin Hébert #43 et Alex Lajoie #33 qui les poursuivent selon la même suite pour la deuxième semaine.  Josianne Plante #97 a marqué son premier podium à vie à Drummond en Sportsman samedi dernier. Elle en a passé bien près chez nous il y a deux semaines, elle devrait y arriver d'ici la fin de l'année.

 

2x20 Procam Supertruck

 

Le meneur au championnat Jimmy Roy #91 avait terminé 3ème à la course de 2013 est très motivé à garder sa position de tête. Mario Rémillard #35 sera de retour. Il avait terminé sixième dans la course d'il y a deux ans chez nous. Jean Bilodeau #55 est très enthousiaste à l'idée de venir courir pour la première fois sur notre piste alors qu'il a déjà couru sur la terre battue à l'Autodrome Chaudière avant qu'elle ne soit asphaltée. Stéphanie Lavigne #20 et Steve Lavigne #72 seront parmi nous. Mario Roy #28, Sylvain Leclerc #27, Dany Gariépy  #37 et Stéphane Lecours #100,5 ont aussi confirmé leur présence. Enfin, Joey Ladouceur #92, champion 2014 de la série et son frère Lee ainsi que François Adam dans la camionnette de Junior Labelle pourront montrer leur expérience sur la piste de Granby.

 

10x Défi-vision MIRA

 

Il s'agit de la 28ème année où l'on reçoit cette course unique en son genre ! Des pilotes tel Marc-André Côté #9 participe depuis 10 ans au Défi-vision alors que d'autres comme Simon Beaudry #29 en sera à son initiation. Des vedettes viendront tenter le coup pour la première fois tels Gildor Roy et Claudine Mercier alors que Mario Jean le porte-parole et Nadja seront de retour. D'autres chanteuses se joignent à cette dernière : les charmantes Brigitte Boisjoli et Beth Cossette. Outre des artistes, nous retrouverons aussi des sportifs tels Luc Brodeur-Jodoin, footballeur des Alouettes de Montréal et Charles Harvey, pilote de Nascar Canadian Tire. Mais rien ne serait possible sans le travail acharné de l'équipe d'André et Jean Boissonneault : ce sont 38 autos en piste, quatre de plus au cas où, deux voitures qui serviront d'obstacles et six autres pour bloquer les entrées de puits qui ont demandé 3 mois de recherche et un mois de préparation… toutes prêtes à la démolition et à la conquête de la victoire !

Vendredi le 14 août les Procam Carbopoxy(R) vont jouer dans la boue !

Vendredi le 14 août les Procam Carbopoxy® vont jouer dans la boue !


Les pilotes de la série Procam Super Truck, propulsée par Carbopoxy® de Techniseal®,  sont de  retour en piste ce vendredi à l'autodrome Granby pour le Mud Blast W-Côté et fils.

20 pilotes sont inscrits pour cette course, Jimmy Roy de Victoriaville est présentement le meneur au championnat. Il sera en piste et compte bien augmenter son avance au Championnat Carbopoxy®

Mais la tâche ne sera pas facile puisque Stéphane Lecours, Dany Gariepy et Steve Lavigne n'ont qu'un objectif, terminer devant le pilote 91 Jimmy Roy.

De la compétition féroce !!!

Les réguliers de la série en auront plein les bras puisque cette course sur terre battue attire d'autres pilotes, des spécialistes de la terre. En effets, Joey Ladouceur (Champion Carbopoxy 2014 et M.Dirt à trois reprises) François Adam (Champion Pro-stock) et Lee Ladouceur (deux fois Champion Série Sprint Sos) seront eux aussi de la partie pour ce 2 x 20 tours position inversées.

On Roule pour Nathan

 Mario Morissette de Coffrage 20-20 et son pilote Joey Ladouceur rouleront pour Nathan. Il sera possible de faire un don à la fondation en signant la camionnette #92 de Coffrage 20-20. Le 150 tours PASS North à l'Autodrome Montmagny

Montréal, le 10 août 2015 - Alex Labbé n'a pu terminer le 150 Tours PASS North couru lors du dernier weekend à l'autodrome Montmagny, à la suite d'un incident au 50etour de course. Avant l'incident, le pilote de St-Albert se tenait facilement parmi les leaders, jusqu'à ce qu'un autre pilote le pousse vers le mur extérieur, menant à son abandon de la course.

Le passage de la série américaine PASS (Pro All Star Series) chez nous fut l'occasion pour Alex de rouler sur la voiture no 36 VR Victoriaville / Larue Motorsport préparée pour cette série. « En plus de courir en série ACT Québec et NASCAR Canadian Tire, je profite de mes weekends libres pour courir en PASS, dont les voitures sont plus puissantes et performantes que dans les deux autres séries, et dont les coûts demeurent raisonnables. Les pilotes sont rapides et plusieurs équipes PASS sont associées à de grandes équipes de NASCAR, qui peuvent ainsi observer les pilotes de près avant de les aider à monter dans l'échelle NASCAR. »

Rapide lors des deux sessions d'essais et qualifié 5e à 0,3sec de la pole, Labbé croyait en ses chances de victoire avec sa voiture réglée pour maximiser sa performance lors des longs relais. Bien installé dans le groupe de tête après 50 tours de piste, un autre pilote le poussa vers le mur, le choc brisant la durite de frein avant droite et forçant un arrêt pour réparer la machine. Après avoir perdu au moins quatre tours aux meneurs, le pilote décida de se retirer de la course. « Nous venons en PASS pour gagner, car nous ne participons pas à toutes les courses, ce qui nous enlève toute chance au titre pour la saison. Il ne servait alors à rien de tourner loin derrière les meneurs et user la mécanique et les pneus pour sans espoir d'un bon résultat. Des fois, la réalité peut être frustrante, mais c'est ça la course ! »

Alex sera de retour en piste le 22 août prochain au Circuit St-Croix pour le Can-AM 150 de la série ACT Québec, où Alex est champion en titre. Il se retrouve maintenant 6e au classement provisoire 2015 malgré le fait de ne pas avoir participé à toutes les épreuves cette saison. La no 48 VR Victoriaville / Larue Motorsport se présente toujours avec de bonnes chances de remporter l'épreuve et comme toujours, Alex et toute l'équipe visent la victoire.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Veteran stock car driver Leon Gonyo visited victory lane in nostalgic and appropriate fashion at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Friday, August 7, winning the fourth annual "C.J. Richards Memorial" presented by Carrara Masonry & Concrete. Other winners on the night included Chad White, Robert Gordon, Chuck Bradford, and Cory Gray in action for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.

Chazy, NY racer Gonyo, 63, was a frequent winner in the mid-1980s under the former Champlain Valley Racing Association headed by the late Richards, who founded Devil's Bowl Speedway in 1967.  On Friday night, Gonyo strung together a three-segment low total score of eight points to take the overall victory in the race bearing Richards' name.

Gonyo won the opening 22-lap segment for the Bond Auto Parts Modified division to score one point in the cumulative tally. Vince Quenneville Jr., of Brandon, VT, finished second to score two points, followed by two-time Modified champion Todd Stone, who was making his first Modified start of the season.  Ron Proctor was fourth with Dave Snow fifth.

Greg Atkins of Clintonville, NY won the middle 22-lap round over Proctor and Jimmy Ryan; Quenneville finished fourth with Gonyo fifth.  Entering the final 23-lap segment, Gonyo, Quenneville, and Proctor found themselves locked in a three-way tie for the overall lead with six segment points apiece.

Stone dominated the final leg, while Gonyo held off a surging Quenneville for the runner-up spot; Atkins and Proctor filled out the top five in the segment.  Gonyo's total of eight points was enough to beat Quenneville by a single marker for the overall victory. With 11 points each, Stone beat Proctor in a tiebreaker for third place overall by virtue of his final-segment win.  Proctor took fourth with Atkins fifth.

Chad White of Fort Ann, NY was a first-time winner in the 30-lap Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model feature and became the division's eighth different winner in as many races in 2015.  Seth Bridge did his best to rebound from a crash in the previous week by leading twice during the race, but White was strong enough on the outside lane to get back in front.

White led the final 19 laps and pulled away from double-duty racer Stone and point leader Josh Masterson.  Stone, of Middlebury, VT was the runner-up ahead of Masterson.  Robert Bryant Jr. finished fourth with Matt White, the winner's brother, fifth in his first start of the season.

Milton, VT's Robert Gordon won the two-segment Brileya's Chrysler-Jeep Renegade feature for the second week in a row. Gordon finished second in the opening 15-lap round behind Scott FitzGerald, then won the final leg for a low total score of three points.  Jimmy Bushey of Mooers Forks, NY finished fourth and second for six points and took the overall runner-up finish, with West Rutland, VT's FitzGerald (first, fifth) third overall with six points.

Defending Portland Glass Mini Stock champion Chuck Bradford of Addison, VT made it back-to-back wins in an entertaining 15-lap race, defeating point leader Chris LaVair of Gabriels, NY.  Bradford's teammate, rookie Brad Bertrand of Ferrisburgh, VT, led the first 12 laps until Bradford and LaVair scooted past, and held on for third place.

Cory Gray of Rutland, VT took his second win of the season in the 50-lap MFT Sauce & Rub Co. Enduro Series feature.  Zach Wood of Georgia, VT closed in on Gray in the final laps but was not able to mount a serious challenge.  Brett Wood, Zach's father, finished third.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action on Friday, August 14 at an early 7:00 p.m. start with Modifieds, Late Models, Renegades, and Mini Stocks, as well as the annual "Spectator Races" for street-legal vehicles.  The event also marks the return of Heritage Family Credit Union "Member Night" giving free admission to all HFCU members who show proof of membership at the gate. Regular general admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for kids age 12 and under.

There are dirty cars on the streets all around Central Ontario. People have been saving their spare change for the next Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night – presented by Pepsi – at Peterborough Speedway.

 

The next event in the Hot August Night Racing Series at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval takes the Great Canadian RV green flag Saturday, August 15th with the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Mini Stock, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model, INEX Ontario Legend and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series divisions looking to earn a trip to Dart Heating and Air Conditioning Victory Lane and an on-track autograph session at intermission.

 

"These events are some of the most popular on the schedule every season," said Peterborough Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. "It's a great way to introduce new fans to the brand we've successfully built over the years. The place is packed to the top rows of the grandstands, the concession stands are busy and the drivers love to meet the people who cheer for their efforts every week."

 

Saturday, August 15th the pit gates will open at 2:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and the first race of the night taking to the track at 5:00.

 

Peterborough Speedway officials have also recently announced a couple of changes to their advertised schedule. The Chase for the Colours event that was rained-out Sunday, June 28th has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 22nd. Teams in the Mini Stock, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car and Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model divisions will run extra distance main events that will determine the front row starting spots for the 23rd Annual Autumn Colours Classic. Also on the program will be the home track Renegade Trucks and the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series. The OMRS Mods have also been added to the Saturday, August 29th event to make-up for a show that was washed-out Saturday, July 25th.

 

On Saturday, August 22nd pit gates will open at 1:00 with spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and racing at5:00. For the Saturday, August 29th event, pit gates open at 3:00, grandstands at 5:00 and racing at 6:00.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2015) – Elzie Wylie "Buddy" Baker Jr., the 1980 Daytona 500 champion and famed NASCAR commentator, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 74 (b. 1-25-41).

 

At 6 feet 6 inches tall, Buddy Baker was often called the "Gentle Giant," though the nickname "Leadfoot" was more apropos due to the blistering speeds he often achieved during his 33-year career.

 

In 1970, Baker became the first driver to eclipse the 200-mph mark on a closed course while testing at Talladega Superspeedway. Although he didn't win at the 2.66-mile superspeedway that year, Baker visited Talladega Victory Lane four times throughout his stellar career.

 

A race commentator and radio host during a lengthy and prolific post-racing career, the Charlotte, North Carolina native's biggest win came in the 1980 Daytona 500. He finished with an average race speed of 177.602 mph – a track record that still stands.

 

"Many of today's fans may know Buddy Baker as one of the greatest storytellers in the sport's history, a unique skill that endeared him to millions," said NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France. "But those who witnessed his racing talent recognized Buddy as a fast and fierce competitor, setting speed records and winning on NASCAR's biggest stages. It is that dual role that made Buddy an absolute treasure who will be missed dearly."

 

Baker, son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Buck Baker, accumulated 19 wins in the premier series, including a victory in the 1970 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway where he lapped the rest of the field. In 1972-73, Baker became the first driver to win consecutive World 600s. He also won the inaugural preseason event now known as the Sprint Unlimited in 1979. He was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998, and in 2014 was first nominated for inclusion into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

 

After retiring in 1992, Baker made a successful transition to the television booth as a commentator for The Nashville Network and CBS. He most recently served as a radio co-host on "Late Shift" and "Tradin' Paint" for SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Weekend frustrant pour Marc-Antoine Camirand à Watkins Glen

 

 

Montréal, le 9 août 2015 – Marc-Antoine Camirand a malheureusement terminé sa course K&N en 17e place après qu'un bris de la suspension avant ne l'ait envoyé dans un bac à gravier alors qu'il restait deux tours à faire au Bully Hill Vineyard 250, couru à Watkins Glen. Camirand pilotait la Chevrolet no 53 de l'équipe NDS Motorsports lors de cette première participation à la série K&N Pro East, la plus importante porte d'entrée vers les trois grandes séries NASCAR : les camions, l'Xfinity et la Sprint.

 

Avec toute l'action en série K&N concentrée sur le vendredi, il était essentiel de ne pas perdre un instant de temps en piste comme entre les présences en piste pour optimiser la voiture. Forcée par les circonstances d'utiliser une voiture plus vieille, l'équipe se présenta à l'inspection technique et fut renvoyée par les officiels pour non-conformité du système de ventilation des freins avant. 

 

Camirand y voit la clé d'un résultat non satisfaisante. « Personne chez NDS n'avait été averti de ces changements et nous avons perdu presque la totalité de la première heure d'essais à régulariser la voiture. Nous étions donc derrière toutes les autres équipes, et n'avons jamais réussi à corriger un problème de sous-virage persistant qui nous ralentissait en sortie de virage et tout au long des trois longues lignes droites. La voiture était bonne, mais nous manquions de temps en piste pour résoudre le problème. »

 

Parti de la 11e place, le pilote de St-Léonard-d'Aston a su maintenir sa position sans toutefois avoir les armes pour doubler les pilotes devant lui, une situation pour le moins frustrante. Camirand y mettait tout de même le paquet. « Lors d'une relance, j'ai doublé une ou deux voitures plus lentes avant de traverser la ligne de départ, et un drapeau noir m'a relégué à la dernière place et forcé à remonter tout le peloton. »

Alors qu'il ne restait que deux tours à la course, un pneu crevé à l'avant gauche a envoyé la voiture dans un bac à gravier et hors course. Camirand se trouve tout de même chanceux dans cet incident. « Le virage en question est super rapide, et le bac à gravier a arrêté la voiture avant d'arriver au mur, où le choc aurait pu être très violent. »

 

Camirand et toute l'équipe étaient pour le moins frustrés de la tournure des évènements, mais ont parlé d'un retour possible de Marc-Antoine plus tard cette saison.

 

Entretemps, Marc-Antoine sera de retour en piste à Antigonish (Nouvelle-Écosse) en série NASCAR Canadian Tire le 15 août prochain.

Scarborough, ME – Windham, ME's Brad Babb got the upper hand in a battle two-time American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. to take his second ACT Tour win of the season in the Beech Ridge 150 at Scarborough, ME's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 8.

 

The 2012 Beech Ridge Pro Series Champion lost the lead to Helliwell on the race's final restart on lap 142, but swung to the outside four laps later to regain the top spot. Babb then held off Helliwell and Eddie MacDonald to become the ninth different winner in as many ACT Late Model Tour events at Beech Ridge.

 

"I knew it was going to be tough on the restart being stuck on the bottom," Babb said. "Wayne got by, and at that point I thought I was just going to try and hold on for second. But the car came back to me after a lap or two, and once I got to the outside of him, it was as good as it was all day."

 

In addition to the win coming at Babb's home track, it provided some redemption from the Tour's previous event at Oxford Plains Speedway, when Babb made contact with Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and eventually spun while racing for the win.

 

"Winning any race is a big deal to me, but to win on a Tour like this…two years ago I never would have expected it," Babb said. "To be able to do it twice in one year just means the world to me."

 

Auburn, ME's Travis Stearns led the first 60 laps from the pole before the race's second caution on lap 60 when Travis Fadden spun while trying to remain on the lead lap. Babb got the nose up on the restart and eventually secured the top spot after running side-by-side with Stearns for nearly 20 laps.

 

Babb gradually pulled out to a straightaway advantage as Stearns and "Joey Pole" tussled for the second spot, with Helliwell and MacDonald eventually joining the battle as well. Pole finally gained the position on lap 127 and set to work trying to reel in Babb in hopes of a rematch from Oxford.

 

But with 10 laps to go, the lapped cars of Emily Packard and Dillon Moltz got together on the backstretch, sending Packard spinning right in front of Pole. Despite sliding sideways to try and avoid the spin, Pole struck Packard with his right front, forcing him to pit with a flat tire during the ensuing caution.

 

Helliwell assumed the second spot and snaked by two lapped cars on the restart to get to Babb's rear bumper. Kyle Welch then spun in turn one with a flat left rear tire to bring out the fourth and final caution with eight laps to go and set up the final battle.

 

Helliwell finished second to unofficially retake the points lead by eight over Pole. MacDonald took third followed by Stearns and Rowland Robinson Jr. Dave Farrington Jr., Jeff White, Pole, Jimmy Hebert, and Welch rounded out the top-10.

 

Babb, Hebert, and Pole won the heat races. Mike Ziter and Derrick O'Donnell won the consolation races with Matt Anderson taking the last-chance B-Feature. Thirty-one cars attempted to qualify for the event.

 

The ACT Tour will travel north of the border to St-Croix, QC's Circuit Riverside Speedway for the sixth annual Can-Am 150 on Saturday, August 8. The event is the second combination event of the year between the ACT U.S. Tour and the Quebec-based Série ACT.
