Record de pilotes inscrits pour Saint-Félicien 

C'est ce samedi 30 juillet que les pilotes de la Série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil prendront la route en direction de l'Autodrome Saint-Félicien pour le programme Boutique Nascar.com 150. 

Avec un nombre record d'inscrits de 25 pilotes, ils participeront à une course de deux fois 75 tours avec inversion des 12 premiers pilotes sur le tour du meneur. 

Les séances de qualifications donneront assurément droit aux amateurs présents de voir de beaux dépassements et particulièrement la 3e où nous retrouvons 5 pilotes sur 9 dans le top 10 du classement général à qui on ajoute le #84 Martin Latulippe. 

Surveillons aussi le retour en piste du #8 Yves Pelchat de Saint-Félicien qui après une période de convalescence, reprendra le volant. Pelchat avait remporté sa séance de qualification sur ce tracé qu'il connait sur le bout de ses doigts l'an dernier. 

Le #16 Rock Poulin a toujours très bien performé sur l'ovale de Saint-Félicien. En effet, lors de la grande majorité de ses présences, il a réussi à se hisser sur le podium. Compétitif et rapide en piste, il est sans aucun doute un des pilotes à surveiller ce samedi. 

Le #25 Pier-Luc Labbé avait été un des seuls à réussir à tenir le rythme du pilote Karl Allard lors de sa présence en 2014; parviendra-t-il à être aussi rapide et solide en piste ce samedi?

Est-ce qu'un pilote parviendra à battre le record de piste du #67 Dominic Jacques réalisé lors de la présence de la Série Sportsman Qc l'an dernier. Avec un temps de 17,589, il avait battu son propre record effectué en 2014. 

Avec 25 pilotes en piste, la présence de pilotes tels que le #18 Marc Bégin, le #41 Samuel Charland, le #81 Dave Trevors, le #89 Marc Bertrand sans oublier le #17 Jimmy Nadeau et le #40 Sylvain Labbé, nous aurons droit à un spectacle à couper le souffle.

Performance exceptionnelle du Beauceron contre des pilotes aguerris

 

INDIANNAPOLIS, Indiana, le 22 juillet 2016 – Raphaël Lessard, jeune pilote de 15 ans de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, est arrivé en 3e position à sa première course à vie sur le prestigieux ovale de Lucas Oil Raceway à Indianapolis dans le cadre du Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe en CRA Super Series. Qualifié en 4eposition, Raphaël a dû s'élancer de la 7e place puisque la série inverse les places sur la grille de départ, mais il a éventuellement su remonter parmi les meneurs durant cette épreuve de 100 tours.

 

Alors qu'il s'insérait dans le Top 3, le pilote de la Toyota Camry #99 FRL Express/Team Coach Imaging /Toyota/JBLAudio/CSX Transportation préparée par l'équipeDavid Gilliland Racing a bénéficié d'un drapeau jaune à la mi-course, ce qui l'a aidé à sécuriser sa 3e place.

 

On ne peut ignorer le talent d'exception de Raphaël alors qu'il se battait en piste contre des experts de stock car tels Steve Wallace et Erik Jones, pilotes aguerris de la sérier NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity et Coupe Sprint.

 

D'ailleurs, David Gilliland, propriétaire de l'écurie pour laquelle Raphaël court, est très fier de son protégé : « Il a fait un boulot fantastique en piste aujourd'hui, nous sommes très fiers de ce qu'il a accompli, surtout que c'était une course très difficile. Il continue de nous impressionner à chaque épreuve. Nous sommes heureux de le compter parmi nous, et nous espérons qu'il gagnera de nombreuses courses avec notre écurie! »

 

« La course a été dure, car je suis parti de l'intérieur et ça n'a pas été facile. La ligne intérieure était beaucoup moins rapide, mais j'avais une excellente voiture pour les dépassements à l'intérieur justement. J'ai un peu manqué la dernière relance, alors j'ai perdu 2 positions et je me suis retrouvé en 5e place derrière Steve Wallace et mon coéquipier Todd Gilliland. Il a fallu que je me batte avec eux, mais j'ai réussi à passer et à me sauver. Au final, j'ai terminé avec beaucoup d'avance sur eux » a conclu Raphaël sur sa première course en série CRA.

 

Quant à ses objectifs pour sa prochaine course en série CARS Super Late Model, prévue au Orange County Speedway de Rougement en Caroline du Nord, le 30 juillet prochain,  « je veux encore bien réussir, comme la dernière course sur ce circuit où j'étais arrivé 2e derrière Christopher Bell. J'aimerais évidemment faire mieux! »

Tagliani Stays Hot In Edmonton
Scores Second Win in a Row in as Many Weeks 

WETASKIWIN, Alberta – Alex Tagliani might have missed the season opener, but halfway through the NASCAR Pinty's Series 2016 season, he's quickly becoming a contender for the championship.

 

Tagliani took the lead on Lap 88 and pulled away late in the caution-filled Alberta Has New Energy 300 Saturday at Edmonton International Raceway to pick up his third win of the season.

 

The Lachenaie, Quebec native missed the first race of the year in Bowmanville, Ontario, to compete in the Indianapolis 500, but he's quickly moved up the standings to third – now just 26 points behind leader Andrew Ranger.

 

L.P. Dumoulin continued his recent turnaround with his best showing of the season in second, while Josten's Rookie of the Year leader Cayden Lapcevich rebounded from an accident to finish third.

 

Jamie Krzysik was fourth with Mark Dilley completing the top five.

 

Ranger finished sixth with Alex Labbe, Kelly Admiraal, Gary Klutt and D.J. Kennington rounding out the top 10.

 

Kevin Lacroix won his first E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award during qualifying and led the first four laps of the race before Dilley grabbed the lead on Lap 5.

 

Lapcevich exchanged the lead twice with Dilley over the next 83 laps before Tagliani got to the front and never looked back.

 

Kennington was running second to Tagliani late in the race before a mechanical issue forced him to the pits on Lap 294.

 

The race was slowed nine times by caution for 74 laps.

 

Lapcevich was able to trim four points off of Ranger's lead in the standings and now sits nine points back (249-240). Tagliani's hot streak has enabled him to help put car owner Colin Livingston in the lead in the owner's standings by seven points over Doug Kennington (256-249).

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series continues its western swing on Wednesday visiting Wyant Group Raceway for the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250.

Final Appeals Upheld in Dirt Late Model Dream Suspensions

CONCORD, N.C. – July 23, 2016 –World Racing Group Commission Chairman Potestas, motorsports executive John Darby, upheld penalties issued by DIRTcar following Eldora Speedway's Dirt Late Model Dream.

The #B5 driven by Brandon Sheppard, #22 driven by Gregg Satterlee, #20 driven by Jimmy Owens, #33X driven by Ricky Thornton and #0 driven by Scott Bloomquist were penalized after tire samples collected at the event and tested by an independent laboratory did not meet established benchmarks in a chemical analysis.

Darby interviewed all five competitors, DIRTcar Officials and visited the testing facility to inspect the testing procedure.

In an effort to promote consistency for the length of suspensions, Darby decided that the final suspension should be defined by weeks, not months as prescribed in the original penalty. The original three-month suspension will now be a 12-week suspension from all DIRTcar sanctioned events, including World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series competition. The suspensions commenced on June 21, 2016 and will now conclude on Sept. 13, 2016.

After appealing the penalties to a three-member panel and having the penalties upheld, all five competitors exercised their final appeal option to the Chairman Potestas.

Groveton, NH- Stark NH's Shawn Swallow (04) broke through for his first North Country Ford Late Model victory and did it in fitting fashion on Swallow & Sons Concrete Mid Season Championship Night. With countless friends and family in attendance Swallow left no doubt who had the best car by winning the first and third of the three 25 lap segments and finished 3 points ahead of runner ups Derek Ming (5) and Beetle Bailey (2). A sea of people surrounded an emotional Swallow in victory lane who finally saw all his and his teams hard work pay off. Ming ended up second overall getting the spot over Bailey on the tiebreaker. Groveton's Mike Kenison (3) and Doug Laleme (74) completed the top 5.

 

After struggling in the opening Sign Depot Tiger Sportsman segment, Craftsbury, VT's Joel Hodgdon (36vt) and the car he affectionately refers to as "Stupid" went into beast mode winning the final 2 segments and claiming his second straight victory and third of the season. Family was the key word of the day at Speedway 51 as Hodgdon celebrated in victory lane with his fiancé and his baby girl. Despite a strong runner up finish by Brendon Moodie (94) the Wolcott, VT driver surrendered the points lead to Hodgdon with double points on the line. Newcomer Doug Crowningshield (14) just edged out fellow 1st timer Jason Woodard (68) for third Place while Colby Bourgois (82) rounded out the top 5.

 

Jaden Perry (92) of Hardwick, VT capitalized on a win in the Schweppes Street Stocks first segment and a fourth place finish in the second to take his first victory of 2016 edging out Duxbury, VT's Reilly Lanphear (21). Point leader Bunker Hodgdon (83) was able to recover from a tough first segment where he got together with Lanphear while racing for second to take home third overall edging Jared Plumley (12) on the tie breaker. Dylan Laleme (4) secured a top 5 finish with a win in segment 2.

 

Garrett LaBounty (76) won his second race in a row and took sole possession of the points lead in the A.B. Excavating Dare Devil division. Labounty got to the front of the field on the outside line and after battling Evan Hallstrom (1) for a handful of laps he was able to make his way to the front and would hold on for the win. Hallstrom was able to keep the hard charging Kasey Beattie (45) behind him after a late restart to finish second. Josh Plumley (12) finished fourth followed by Scottie Tibbetts (04).

 

Robbie Curtis (8) beat a firld of 13 to win the second race of the White Mountain Community College Pure Stocks 5 race Shoot Out. Curtis started fifth in the feature but quickly got to the front, after a couple laps he was able to get around Kevin Keane (07) and he wouldn't look back. Keane came home second despite having a tire going down on the last lap. Todd Derrington got to the bumper of Keane in the final corner but had to settle for third. Nate Swallow (04) and Jaime Swallow Sr (11) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

N. Woodstock, NH – Dillon Moltz got the jump over Eddie MacDonald on a restart with 16 laps remaining and held on for his first career American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory in the "Showdown in the Mountains" White Mountain 150 at N. Woodstock, NH's White Mountain Motorsports Park on Sunday, July 24.

 

The Waterford, CT driver, who is in his first full season competing on the ACT Late Model Tour, dominated the middle stages of the event before MacDonald got around him following the race's fifth caution on lap 96. MacDonald maintained the top spot through a lap 119 restart, but when the seventh and final caution came out for defending ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr's flat right front tire on lap 134, Moltz was able to take advantage.

 

Bobby Therrien started on the pole and led the first five laps before surrendering the point to White Mountain Late Model point leader Quinny Welch. Therrien sped back by on lap 18, while Welch developed overheating problems shortly thereafter.

 

Moltz then grabbed the lead on a lap 23 restart drew away from a dogfight for second between Therrien, MacDonald, and Scott Payea, with Therrien eventual getting shuffled out on a three-wide scramble. Following a lap-67 caution, Moltz led a three-car breakaway with MacDonald and ACT point leader Nick Sweet, before Therrien developed problems and came to a stop against the turn one wall on lap 96, setting up the final sprint to the finish.

 

MacDonald settled for second, while Sweet took third. Sweet unofficially maintains the point lead by 14 points over Payea, who finished right behind him in fourth. Jimmy Hebert, Brandon Atkins, Mike Ziter, rookie Devin O'Connell, Brian Tagg, and Rowland Robinson, Jr. rounded out the top-10.

 

The ACT Late Model Tour will be back in action at Scarborough, ME's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 6. Post time for the 10th event of the 13-race ACT season is 7:00pm.

N. Woodstock, NH – The "Showdown in the Mountains" doubleheader for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) at N. Woodstock, NH's White Mountain Motorsports Park has been postponed to Sunday, July 24 due to ongoing rain. Post time for the rescheduled event is 3:00pm, with the pits opening at 10:00am and the front gates at 12:00 noon.

 

The event will feature twin 150-lap events for the ACT Late Model Tour and PASS North Series, along with White Mountain's Tiger Sportsmen, Dwarf, and Kid's Truck divisions. Thirty-two ACT Late Models were in the pits for the ninth event of the 13-race schedule, including ACT point leader Nick Sweet, White Mountain point leader Quinny Welch, and defending ACT Champion and event winner Wayne Helliwell, Jr.

Montréal, le 22 juillet 2016 – L'équipe Go Fas Racing se retrouvera à Edmonton et Saskatoon lors de la tournée annuelle dans les prairies de la série NASCAR Pinty's, le 23 juillet à Edmonton et le 27 à Saskatoon. 

 

Dire que tous les membres de l'équipe ont le couteau entre les dents ne serait pas une exagération.

 

Alex se sent à l'aise sur pistes ovales, comme le sont les deux dans l'ouest. Il compte bien répéter ses exploits de début de saison lors de sa victoire à l'Autodrome Chaudière, en plus de deux poles remportées sur circuits routiers. 

 

Le pilote de St-Albert croit fermement au potentiel de victoires pour la Ford no32 : « Notre voiture marche à merveille depuis le début de la saison et nous visons la victoire aux deux pistes. La concurrence est féroce, mais je crois fermement au potentiel gagnant de notre équipe, et j'ai bien hâte de me retrouver en piste ce weekend ! »

NAPLES, ME (July 21) – For only the second time this season, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models and the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models will compete together in Twin 150s as they headline the "Summer Showdown In The Mountains" at White Mountain Motorsports Park.  This weekend will also mark the first time PASS has competed at the tight, quarter-mile confines which are located in North Woodstock, NH since May, 2014.

            One driver who will be very busy this weekend will be homestate favorite Joey Polewarczyk.  Joey Pole, as he is known by his fans, will be seeking his first career PASS North Super Late Model win, while also fielding an entry for the ACT Late Model event for his development driver, Ryan Olsen.   

            "We felt pretty strong about our car at White Mountain before the PASS race that was rained out in June and we feel like we keep improving on our Super Late Model program," says Polewarczyk, driver of the Pole's Automotive #97.  "We are still searching for our first PASS win and White Mountain would be the perfect place.  It's small, fast, and very racy, so I think it will be very exciting."

            Last year, Polewarczyk attempted the PASS/ACT double as a driver at both Oxford Plains Speedway and Airborne International Speedway.  This weekend, while still focusing on both cars, Polewarczyk hopes he will be able to focus differently on both races, while only driving himself in the PASS 150 lapper.

            "I think it will be good because we can focus on Ryan [Olsen] with the ACT car and bounce ideas off each other about what the track's doing, even though it's two different types of cars," says Polewarcyzk.  "It will be a lot of work, but we are looking forward to it."  

A great field of PASS North Super Late Models is expected this weekend at White Mountain Motorsports Park.  PASS North points leader and 4-time White Mountain winner, DJ Shaw, will be joined by former champions and White Mountain winners, Mike and Ben Rowe, and Johnny Clark.  Former HP Hood Oxford 250 champions, Travis Benjamin and Glen Luce, will lead the Maine contingent, along with Tracy Gordon, Mike Hopkins, and Nick Jenkins.  Granite State drivers Bryan Kruczek, Joe Squeglia, Jr., and Jeremy Davis will be joined by Vermont's Todd Stone and Brent Dragon, Massachusetts' Derek Ramstrom and Greg Nanigan, and Dany Poulin, who will be making the tow from Quebec.

Action begins on Saturday at White Mountain Motorsports Park with practice from 1 to 4:30 PM for the PASS North Super Late Models, ACT Late Models, and White Mountain divisions, with racing starting at 5.

Mise à part la course interrompue par la pluie à 3 tours du début, le premier juillet dernier, le célêbre pilote septuagénaire d'origine beauceronne, Langis Caron, a remporté toutes les finales auxquelles il a pris part depuis le début de la saison avec la Nova 1970 #35 mis à sa disposition par la série Vintage Québec.

 

Absent pour des raisons familliales lors de la dernière course, à St-Félicien, celui qui l'a remplacé, le félécinois Karl Allard a tout balayé sur son passage avec cette même voiture en remportant les 2 finales de la soirée, ainsi que la qualification.

 

C'est donc avec le couteau entre les dents que les réguliers de la série,  Rocheleau, Verner et fils, Valliêres, Gervais, Goyette ainsi que le nouveau venu, Stéphane Décoste, avec la Firebird #68 de l'équipe Rocheleau et les autres s'amèneront à Montmagny ce samedi soir, le 23 juillet, pour essayer, de façon sportive et amicale,  de mettre un terme à la domination de ce vétéran,   qui  fait la pluie et le beau temps depuis plusieurs décennies sur les pistes québécoises et nord-américaines, ainsi que la fameuse Nova 1970 rouge et bleue portant le numéro 35.

 

 

 

 

Cette course, Initialement prévue pour être disputé à St-Eustache, les dirigeants de l'ASE ont dû, pour des raisons logistiques, hors de leur contrôle, annuler la venue de l'Association Vintage chez eux ce week-end.

 

Suite à un travail  de titan, le président de l'ASCVQ, Patrick Verner a dû entreprendre des démarches pour relocaliser cette course, et c'est l'organisation de l'Autodrome Montmagny qui a finalement accepté de recevoir les Vintages ce samedi. Les amateurs sont priés de prendre note de ce changement.

 

 

 

C'est à toute une course, où la tension sera palpable  que les amateurs de son et de «rod» devront s'attendre ce samedi à l'Autodrome Montmagny.

 

Egalement au programme, les pilotes de l'ACT seront en vedette avec une finale de 150 tours en deux segments de 75 tours. Les camionnettes Procam et les catégories locales seront également au rendez-vous.

Les "Side panels" sont de retour

C'est le retour de l'action ce samedi 23 Juillet à l'Autodrome Drumond avec
la soirée "Side Panels Night" une présentation du garage Éric Bonin. Pour
une 2e fois cette année les bolides Modifiés et Modlite arboreront leurs
tôles volumineuses qui procure plus d'appuis et qui leur donnent un joli
look agressif.

Trois classes à l'honneur lors de cette soirée, les classes maison
Sportsman et Modifiés mais aussi les Modlite seront de retour. Et comme
c'est souvent le cas il y aura deux courses de 40 tours pour la catégorie
Modifiés.

Le dernier programme présenté remonte au 25 juin, car la pluie est venus
jouer les troubles fêtes le 9 juillet. Mario Clair s'était illustrée avec une
victoire. Mais le championnat est mené par nul autre que la recrue Mathieu
Desjardins, lui aussi victorieux lors du dernier programme, avec 502 pts,
suivi du "Rocket" Mario Clair avec 492 pts et le promoteur Yan Bussière
occupe le 3e rang avec 480 pts. La course au championnat est des plus
excitantes et ce n'est pas dans la poche pour Desjardins.

Les Sportsman aussi renoueront avec l'action et la dernière course
malheureusement écourté fut remporté par Dany Gagné qui retrouve la
plus haute marche du podium. Le surprenant Bryan Cloutier occupe le
premier rang du championnat avec 302 pts, mais suivi de très près par
Dany Gagné avec 297 pts et Félix Murray est 3e avec 266 pts. Notez que
pas très loin en 4e place l'ombre de Martin Pelletier plane avec 259 pts. Ne
faut jamais oublier Pelletier, qui peut sortir un lapin de son chapeau en tout
temps.

Les Modlite, sont de retour et ils offrent toujours un excellent spectacle
avec de nombreux dépassements, et plusieurs pilotes peuvent prétendre à
la victoire. Lors de leur dernière présence Michael Dion, qui en était à une
première visite en piste à Drummondville s'était illustré avec une victoire.
Ce dernier occupe le 7e rang au championnat. Kevin Burke domine avec
277 pts et pas très loin derrière avec 268 pts Benjamin Cartier le talonne
suivi d'Éric Désilets avec 263 pts.

La doyenne des pistes en action au Canada saura vous en mettre plein la
vue. L'Autodrome Drummond "La F1 de la terre battue ».

Rob Warnes Scores OMRS Checkered Flag at Flamboro Speedway

In many ways, it was just another event on the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – schedule; but at the same time, every driver in the starting field – Saturday, July 16th – at Flamboro Speedway was wondering if they'd be the lucky one to bring an end to John Baker Jr's early season win streak.

 

An even dozen of the popular open wheeled machines signed-in for their second of this year's events at the venerable speed plant near Hamilton, Ontario. With just a single qualifying heat to secure their main event starting spot, teams were looking for every possible advantage as the night's action took to the track. Former Peterborough Speedway 4Fun track champion Willow Barberstock and Rick Warnes paced the field to the green flag, with the young season's hottest driver John Baker Jr. coming to the line from 9th on the starting grid.

 

While it would be easy for the other drivers in field to track the performance of the bright orange machine wheeled by the current point leader and 4-time feature winner, smart racers know that its always best to focus on what's happening in front of you, instead of the rear-view mirror. That was the exact strategy Rob Warnes used to take his first victory of the season.

 

"I knew the #63 had started behind me on the initial green flag, so unless I saw him alongside, the plan was to run my own race," said the 2014 OMRS title holder. "It was an exciting show for the fans and that's the goal anytime we take to the track. Hopefully, it'll be the shot in the arm we're looking for to turn our season around."

 

Baker made it to the runner-up spot at the checkered flag, with Ryan Babin, Duane Cinnamon and Chris Burrows rounding-out the top 5. Ryan Dick, Alex Lees, Brad Stevenson, Randy Hollingsworth, Willow Barberstock, Stu Robinson Jr. and Rick Warnes completed the finishing order. The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series starts a stretch of 4 races in 7 weeks at Peterborough Speedway – beginning Saturday, July 23rd – and continuing August 6th, 13thand 27th.
