UN TOP-6 POUR JEAN-FRANÇOIS DUMOULIN À L'AUTODROME ST-EUSTACHE

 



St-Eustache (Québec, Canada), le 10 septembre 2017 – Aux commandes de la voiture #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA, c'est avec assurance que Jean-François Dumoulin a défié les compétiteurs et s'est faufilé jusqu'au top-6 en fin d'épreuve hier sur le circuit de l'Autodrome St-Eustache.

 

Jean-François Dumoulin a qualifié la voiture #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA en dixième position réalisant un chrono près de celui des leaders. L'équipe avait la certitude que la voiture allait s'améliorer pour devenir de plus en plus rapide au fil de l'épreuve.

« Le sous-virage présent en qualification était infime en début de course. J'ai pu adapter le freinage et augmenter le rythme pour doubler plusieurs voitures et remonter jusqu'en sixième position pour les derniers 20 tours de piste. La voiture était plus rapide que les meneurs en fin de parcours, une avancée importante pour l'équipe et les partenaires », explique le pilote de la voiture #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA.

 

Spectra Premium était à St-Eustache

C'est près de 160 personnes de Spectra Premium qui se sont données rendez-vous à St-Eustache pour encourager leur ambassadeur Jean-François Dumoulin. Ils ont tapissé de bleu l'estrade située près du virage numéro 2, tous vêtus de leur t-shirt aux couleurs de la compagnie. L'ensemble des amateurs présent ont plus qu'apprécié leur expérience et l'action. « Je suis ravi d'avoir rencontré les employés de Spectra Premium et leur famille qui se sont déplacés pour m'encourager de nouveau. Les entendre dans l'estrade, c'est une dose d'énergie qui reflète toute la passion de l'équipe. Merci ! », mentionne avec enthousiasme Jean-François Dumoulin.

Le Grand Défoulement Dumoulin Compétition au profit de la Fondation québécoise du cancer s'est poursuivi avec succès. La somme de 220,00 $ s'ajoute au montant de 6 569,45 $ (comprenant les 3500,00$ de Spectra Premium et les 305,45$ du Bistro du Vieux Port), pour un total de 6789, 45$ à ce jour. Plus qu'une occasion pour apposer votre signature sur les bolides des Frères Dumoulin, rendez-vous le 23 septembre prochain sur le circuit ovale Jukasa Motor Speedway (Hagersville, Ontario) qui clôturera la saison 2017 de la série NASCAR Pinty's.

Entre-temps, le 16 septembre prochain aura lieu « La Descente : challenge de boîtes à savon » organisée par la Jeune Chambre de la Mauricie. Jean-François et Louis-Philippe Dumoulin sont présidents d'honneur de l'événement. Série NASCAR Pinty's : Autodrome St-Eustache



 

St-Eustache, (Québec, Canada), le 10 septembre 2017 – Au volant de la voiture #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a enregistré le septième meilleur temps hier sur le circuit ovale de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Au cours de cette avant-dernière épreuve de la saison, c'est tour après tour que Louis-Philippe Dumoulin s'est imposé dans le top-5 en défendant sa position avec fermeté.

 

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a affronté la qualification munie de pneus à pression trop basse qui ont occasionné un important sous-virage. « Mes pneus ont mis un tour de plus pour monter à la température adéquate, ils étaient donc mous et lents. Le second tour était plus rapide, avec deux tours comme celui-là j'aurais pu me hisser parmi les trois premiers. »

 

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a su se battre avec les meneurs, notamment jusqu'à la première neutralisation (50e tours). L'équipe #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare a alors effectué des réglages qui se sont avérés efficaces, toutefois pas suffisamment pour le relais séquence de 183 tours sans neutralisation. « Le choix de la pression des pneus en qualification nous a coûté cher. De plus, la température ambiante a chuté de sept degrés, intéressant pour la puissance du moteur, toutefois moins pour la tenue de route. La voiture devenait de plus en plus physique à piloter en fin d'épreuve. Terminer dans le top-5 à plusieurs reprises cette saison nous indique que nous sommes sur la bonne voie, c'est important pour l'équipe et pour nos partenaires », explique le pilote de la voiture #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare.

- RPM SPEEDWAY. Des finales Dirt et de séries renversantes ont distrait les spectateurs au RPM Speedway de Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu ce 9 septembre.

Prostock Finale 50 tours

Le 18 de Bob Ray qui en était à sa première course à vie ici donne le départ de l'épreuve. Au 3ème tour, le 47 de Dave Bissonnette le dépasse par l'extérieur. Le 47 se fait dépasser à son tour par le 338 de Pascal Payeur au 7ème tour. Bissonnette #47 reprend la pôle pour les 11ème et 12ème tour, mais Payeur revient plus fort jusqu'au tour 23. C'est alors le 4 de Roch Aubin qui fait l'intérieur du 338 pour prendre les commandes de l'épreuve. Malgré de nombreuses relances, Aubin parti 7ème restera à l'avant jusqu'à la fin. Le 115 de Stéphane Lemire arrive 2ème en faisant l'intérieur du 338 à la reprise du tour 29. Guy Viens #15 devient 3ème au 31ème tour en faisant l'intérieur du 338. François Adam #01 fait pareil pour la 4ème position au tour 42. À 5 tours de la fin, nous avons deux duels : le 4 en bas le 115 en haut et le 15 au bas du 01. Au tour 46, Steve Chaput #38 parti 18ème pratique l'intérieur du 47 de Dave Bissonnette pour entrer au top 5.

Lightning Sprint 20 tours

Pascal Lévesque #3 mène les 9 premiers tours de la course. Le 28 de Jordan Poirier prend dès lors la relève de la pôle. Le 51 de Guillaume Neiderer est 3ème depuis la relance du 2ème tour. À la relance du tour 13, Éric Sundborg #16 fait par l'extérieur Neiderer pour la 4ème place. À cette même reprise, le 28p de Yannick Poirier met les roues devant le 75 de Benjamin Mathieu pour pénétrer le top 5. Le 51 reprend sa place en 3ème, recule 5ème, puis quitte au 16ème tour avec une barre de torsion tordue qui rend sa voiture incontrôlable. Sundborg reste 3ème derrière Lévesque et Jordan Poirier. À la relance du tour 18, Yannick Poirier dépasse le 16 pour devenir 3ème. Mathieu Bardier #19 part 8ème et se battra sporadiquement avec le 740 de Benjamin Malo du tour 6 jusqu'à la fin pour le dépasser que sous le signaleur par l'intérieur.

Jimmy Phelps #98H et Steve Bernard #54 partis sur la première ligne se disputent un tour seulement la pôle. Bernard domine alors la course et ce jusqu'au tour 68. À la relance de ce tour, le 99L de Larry Wight se jette premier. Le tour d'après, le ONE de David Hébert fait l'intérieur du 54 pour la 2ème place. Au tour 81, c'est au tour du 9s de Matt Sheppard de faire le bas du 54. Au tour 84, nous avons pour leadeur le 99L, suivi du 9s et du One, mais le 54 est viré et dégringole de sa 4ème place. C'est le 98H de Jimmy Phelps qui hérite de sa position. Billy Decker #91 ferme alors le top 5. Au tour 86, le 91, le 19 de Tim Fuller et le 6H de Max McLaughlin se font la guerre de cette 5ème place. Au tour 88, c'est Fuller qui l'obtient, mais au tour 90, le 6H revient à la charge par l'intérieur. Au tour 87, Hébert est dépassé par l'intérieur par le 9s pour la 2ème place. Au tour suivant, le 9 fait de même au 99L pour la pôle. À la relance du tour 89, le ONE de David frappe le mur de la 2, le 98H de Phelps en profite pour le dépasser au tour suivant pour la 3ème position. Tim Fuller dépasse à son tour Hébert par l'extérieur au tour 93, mais 2 tours plus tard le ONE revient sur sa 4ème place finale. Dominic Dufault #63 parti 7ème ne quittera pas le top 10 de toute la finale. Le seul rival petit bloc qui se rapprochera de Dufault sera le 3 de Claude Brouillard, mais ce dernier terminera 13ème. Dufault aura tenu tête à Brett Hearn et son gros bloc qui terminent derrière lui.

Aux deux relances qui suivent, Michael Forcier se montre plus fort à l'extérieur. Il ne quittera plus la première place. La recrue Alexia Roux #92 part première, est dépassée par le 22 au premier tour, puis par le 27, mais demeurera bien accrochée à sa 3ème position jusqu'à la complétion de l'épreuve. L'autre recrue Keven Carrier-Boucher #117 parti huitième entre au top 5 dans le premier tour. À la relance du tour 5, Carrier-Boucher fait l'intérieur du 28 d'Éric Désilets pour la 4ème place.

C'est le 49 d'Alan Carrier, Raphael Gougeon #44 et Vincent St-Louis #36 qui en bénéficieront devenant ainsi 2ème, 3ème et 4ème. Elliot et Claudie n'auront pas le temps de remonter et finiront 5ème et 6ème.

Donovan Lussier #00 saisit la pôle au premier tour et n'en démord pas de toute la finale. Le 63X de Danick Messier le suit jusqu'à la reprise du tour 21. Le 16 de Charlyne Galarneau 3ème depuis le début de la course dépasse alors le 63X et le 91 de Félix Roy lui fait pareil par l'intérieur. Christopher Cormier #95 6ème toute la course. Il fait une sortie de piste au tour 20. Le 39 d'Alexandre Lizotte glisse de position à la reprise du tour 21, le 95 en profite pour le dépasser. Dans le dernier tour, Cormier dépasse le 01 de Jacob Nault pour terminer 5ème.

Donald Theetge Scores Another Podium
 
St-Eustache, QC, Sunday Sept. 10, 2017:   The twelfth round of the 2017 NASCAR Pinty's Series took place last evening at Autodrome St. Eustache just outside of Montreal.  Donald Theetge brought the Circuit Acura/ Le Soliet/L'Antidote Dodge across the line in 2nd while Alex Tagliani in the #18 EpiPen/Lowes Dodge managed a tenth place finish.
 
During the practice session, early in the day the team found out Tagliani was suffering from a back problem. He managed to get in the car and while in considerable pain he was relatively happy with the set up of the car.  Theetge was able to find some speed in his #22 entry and was 3rd quickest.  They followed this up with qualifying later in the afternoon with Theetge 3rd and Tagliani 9th fastest.
 
At the drop of the green flag for the Lucas Oil 250 Theetge settled into the top three quickly while Tagliani continued to maintain a top ten position.  The first caution of the race took place at lap 49 and Crew Chief Tyler Case brought Tagliani to pit road for fuel.  Crew Chief Randy Steckly elected to leave his driver Theetge on the track a move that gave him the lead spot. There was another caution immediately following then the remaining 174 laps were run under green. The teams fully expected additional caution periods so they could bolt on some new tires for their drivers, but the race went the green for the remaining distance. When the checkered flag waved Alex Labbe had lapped the entire field except for second place finisher Donald Theetge who posted his 2nd podium finish of the year.  Tagliani struggled during the event and posted a 10th place finish.
 
"We had a good day today and we set up the car for the race knowing it would get colder and that paid off for us today," said Theetge. "We changed a lot of things before the feature and that was good as well. I think we lost a lot of time behind the #74 but that was the plan, being patient and without caution I was afraid I would run out of gas. But Randy said to go ahead and try to pass Lacroix but then with 50 laps to go he asked me to save fuel.  The team did a great job and I am happy with second place.  I think we will have a shot at the win in two weeks at Jukasa."

The Lucas Oil 250 presented by Bumper to Bumper and Coors Light will air on TSN on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m., and on RDS on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.

Autumn Colours Classic Brings the Best of the Best to Peterborough Speedway

No matter where they might have spent the 2017 regular season, there isn't a racer anywhere in the province who wouldn't love to add an Autumn Colours Classic championship to their resume. Ontario's premier auto racing event celebrates its 25th anniversary – October 6th, 7th and 8th – at Peterborough Speedway.

 

From green flag to checkered, this is the motorsports experience that packs the pits and fills the grandstands at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. Track champions, seasoned veterans and raw rookies alike from north, south, east and west will converge on the popular Central Ontario venue, in search of one of the most coveted prizes in the sport. Over the 3 days of action, fans will see close to 10 divisions and nearly 120 drivers tackle the track.

 

After their performance at the Chase for the Colours Qualifier – Sunday, July 2nd – Griffin Powell, Kris Khan and Anthony DiBello will start from the inside of the front row in the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Thunder Car feature events respectively. 2016 track champion Rick Spencer-Walt will roll from the pole in the 75 lap Organics & Glass Late Model 'A' main.

 

"This could be one of the biggest post seasons we've ever had," said Peterborough Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. "2017 is the track's 50th Anniversary and this is the 25th year for the Autumn Colours Classic. Winning the title will come with a little extra spark this year than it ever has before."

 

The 3-day fall festival of speed at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City gets rolling Friday, October 6th.  Things start-off with pre-event technical inspection and practice sessions, followed by the first round of qualifying for the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Thunder Car, Organics & Glass Late Model, Pro Late Model and OSCAAR Modified divisions. Also on the docket will be Young Guns Races for Mini Stock and Thunder Car teams, presented by APC Auto Parts. Pit Gates will open at 10:00, with general admission spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the first heat race heading to the line at 6:00.

Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY Joins DIRTcar Racing Banner

CONCORD, NC — Sept. 8, 2017 — The race track formerly known as Canandaigua Speedway will join the DIRTcar Racing sanctioning banner in 2018 as Land of Legends Raceway.

The Ontario County Fair Board and promoter Paul Cole have signed a deal for 2018 and '19 for the operation of the speedway in Canandaigua, NY. The track will now be managed and operated as Land of Legends Raceway, building off of the longtime nickname of the famed half-mile race track.

"Our plan is to bring the racing experience to new levels for fans, racers and sponsors," said Cole. "Canandaigua has a long tradition of great racing, and we hope to continue that with bigger purses and exciting shows, and to build a desire for every racing fan to put the Land of Legends on their weekly list of things to do."

Building on the speedway's long history with DIRTcar Racing, Cole expects the DIRTcar Racing sanction to bring ample creditability and fairness to the Raceway, and set the expectations for competitors and fans when they visit.

"DIRTcar Racing brings the best of the best to the local tracks," said Cole. "It provides a stable and powerful structure to Big-Block Modified and Sportsman Modified racing across the Northeast."

Cole hopes to bring "fairness, safety, and fun" to the Raceway in 2018 and beyond. "If we don't address those things I'm not doing my job as a promotor," he said. "And DIRTcar brings a lot of this to the table."

Barre, Vt. – Due to an inclement forecast, Thunder Road officials have postponed the Community College of Vermont (CCV) Championship Night that was scheduled for Friday, September 8. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 10 at 2:00pm.

 

It is the third time this year that CCV Night has been postponed due to weather. The event was originally scheduled for June 29.

 

"While the forecasted rain might let off by the evening hours, it is expected to be followed by a combination of cool temperatures and humid conditions," Thunder Road co-owner Cris Michaud said. "As a result, the track conditions will be considerably less than ideal for our drivers, and the viewing conditions will be less than ideal for our fans. With the championships in three divisions on the line, we want to give everyone the best possible situation for racing."

 

CCV Championship Night will be the final point-counting event of the year for the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Extra-distance features will be on the card for all divisions with 65 laps for the Late Models, 50 laps for the Flying Tigers, and 35 laps for the Street Stocks.

 

Qualifying for the final round of the 2017 "King of the Road" championship chase begins at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 10. The pits will open at 10:30am and the front gates will open at 12:15pm. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

16 Septembre 2017, la grande finale à l'autodrome Chaudière,

 

Le champion « Nascar Sportsman St-Eustache 2017 » fera face au champion « Sportsman Québec 2017 » pour le premier titre de l'histoire de la série « Nascar Late Model Camions Freightliner Québec/Camion Western Star Lévis » à l'autodrome Chaudière ce samedi 16 septembre prochain lors de la journée Habitation Dany Lagacé. Toute une journée de course à prévoir.

 

Pour l'occasion, en plus de la course prévue à l'horaire, il y aura lareprise de la course du 5 août dernier, mais dans un format de 75 tours présenté par Gestion Roy Électrique.

 

Nous aurons donc 2 courses, distinctes, de 75 tours chacune.

 

Wow, toute une fin de saison prévue pour votre plaisir à l'autodrome Chaudière. Ce sera LA JOURNÉE de l'été, à n'en pas douter…

 

Steve Côté #1, est l'actuel meneur au championnat avec 13 points d'avance sur son poursuivant Samuel Charland #41. Saura-t-il conserver ou accroître son avance, lui qui a vu un Charland très bien préparé à la dernière course. Avec 2 épreuves la même journée, tout est possible quand on sait qu'une victoire pourrait donner jusqu'à 41 points.

 

Mais la lutte est tellement serrée entre ces 2 pilotes, que nul ne peut prévoir la suite. Quelques statistiques où il y a égalité un peu partout.

 

Steve Côté et Samuel Charland comptent 8 podiums et 4 victoires chacun.

 

La seule différence se situe au niveau des tops 5 où Côté en compte un de plus, avec 9 en 9 courses. À noter qu'une seule course a échappé à l'un de ces 2 pilotes au cours de la saison jusqu'ici.

 

Alex Labbé, pilote de la série ACT et Pinty's, sera de la partie dans la voiture de l'équipe Larue. Cet ancien champion ACT est aussi en tête de la prestigieuse série Pinty's en ce moment. Il a d'ailleurs terminé en 2e position de la course Pinty's au mois de juin, ici même à l'Autodrome Chaudière. Il ne serait pas surprenant que d'autres pilotes de cette série soient présents ce 16 septembre.

 

Il faudra être sur place pour voir toute cette action pour une dernière fois cette saison !

The 358 Modifieds first take to the 5/8th-mile Oswego Speedway on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. during opening rounds of practice.

Thursday's qualifying session, scheduled to start shortly after 1 p.m., will set the first six positions of the The Great Outdoors RV 150. Friday Night's Twin 25s will set the next 24 positions for the 358 Modifieds. The Last Chance Showdown will roll off Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m., with The Great Outdoors RV 150 scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

NAPA Super DIRT Week returns to Oswego Speedway for its second year. The "Steel Palace" – a 0.625-mile, asphalt oval – will be transformed into the "Clay Palace" by nearly 600 truckloads of clay. The week will kick off with early parking for campers on Sunday, Oct. 1. Early Bird tech inspection for all classes and competitors starts on Monday, Oct. 2. On-track activities will begin shortly after the procession of cars through the streets of Oswego on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at roughly 12 p.m.

CONCORD, N.C. — Sept 7, 2017 — World Racing Group has announced penalties in DIRTcar Racing. Per the rulebooks and the integrity of the sport, such infractions shall be announced. Members in good standing have the right to appeal the decision to the World Racing Group Appeals Commission as provided in Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications.

DIRTcar Racing:

Chuck Towslee, a driver in the DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stock has violated Section 15.0-C; 15.1 B,C,D; 11.0-A; 11.1 A&I of the 2017 DIRTcar Racing Rule Book.

15.0-C DIRTcar Sportsman Modified
ANY CAR, TEAM AND/OR DRIVER THAT DOES NOT MEET THESE SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS WILL BE SUBJECT TO PENALTIES AS DETERMINED BY THE DIRTcar and/or World Racing Group OFFICIALS.

15.1 Engines
B.) The engine and all components must remain in their original configuration and form as purchased and/or delivered from the factory. Any alterations to the engine will not be permitted. The Engine must remain as manufactured by General Motors with a stock 4"-inch bore. Overbore(s) will not be permitted. Sleeve repair may be permitted with written permission from DIRTcar and/or World Racing Group Officials.
C.) All engines are to remain sealed from the factory. The original factory seals must remain unaltered, Tampering, removal, modifications of any type and/or broken factory seals will not be permitted. The GM Engine must remain unaltered in any way.
D.) The GM Crate Engine seals (bolt-type) must remain unaltered. DIRTcar and/or World Racing Group Officials may require specific sealing and verification of all seals on any GM Crate Engine. Tampering with and/or alteration of any seals will not be permitted and is subject to immediate penalty and/or suspension.

11.0 Penalties, Fine Schedules and Protests

A. The Super DIRTcar Series and/or DIRTcar conducts itself as the top Modified Racing Series in North America and expects its members to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times during any event and/or when representing the series. Car Owners, Drivers and Crew Chiefs are responsible for the conduct of their team members and/or anyone connected to or affiliated with that owner's team, in addition to being responsible for all infractions, technical and/or non-technical in nature. In the event that a penalty is issued, only active DIRTcar Members in good standing, have the right to an appeal, if the penalty is appealable. All fines that are listed in sub-section 11.1 are

11.1 Penalties and Fine Schedules
A. All fines may be collected from prize money on the day of the infraction. If the competitor has not won appropriate money, the fine must be paid in full before the car and/or driver participates in another Super DIRTcar Series and/or DIRTcar sanctioned event.

I. Any member that violates any technical rule as presented within the rulebook and/or issued in a written bulletin will be subject to disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or loss of points and/or any other action deemed appropriate by Super DIRTcar Series and/or DIRTcar Officials and/or World Racing Group Supervisory Officials..

a.) The penalty schedule for any violations "technical in nature will be as follows;

1. In the event of any illegal internal modification to any Chevrolet Performance Parts Crate Engine and/or DIRTcar Spec Engine and/or tampering of any manufacturer and/or DIRTcar seal a maximum of a 1-year suspension and/or indefinite probation period and/or the engine will be impounded immediately and/or a minimum penalty of $3,500 and/or loss of all earnings based on the current race season, including but not limited to points, point fund awards and/or or race winnings. In the event the driver is suspended from a division utilizing the GM crate engine and/or DIRTcar spec engine, the driver maybe offered the opportunity to move up in division to continue participation after serving a suspension deemed appropriate by Super DIRTcar and or DIRTcar officials. The offer will only come from a World Racing Group supervisory official. This decision is final and non-appealable.

2. For subsequent violations in regard to any illegal internal modification to any Chevrolet Performance Parts Crate Engine and/or DIRTcar Spec Engine an indefinite suspension will be issued.

As a result, Towslee has been suspended one year from all DIRTcar tracks and/or events effective 8/19/2017 Competitor may apply for re instatement 8/19/2018, loss of points and Earnings from 8/19/2017 event and fined $3,500.00 or loss of motor to be paid before reinstatement to DIRTcar.

Appeal Results:

Towslee's appeal was heard on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, the World Racing Group Appeal Commission has determined to modify the original penalty that was issued to you regarding the violation of the DIRTcar Racing Event Procedures as follows:

Penalty / Fine:
• Suspended from all DIRTcar tracks and/or events effective 8/19/2017
• May return to competition after 6/30/2018
• Loss of points and Earnings from 8/19/2017 event.
• $3,500.00 fine or loss of motor to be paid before reinstatement to DIRTcar.

Barre, Vt. – The final point-counting event of the season at Barre's Thunder Road is set for this Friday, September 8 at 7:00pm with Community College of Vermont (CCV) Championship Night. The Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will all crown their champions at the Friday night affair that was previously postponed due to weather.

 

As part of the CCV Championship Night special, all three divisions will run extra-distance features. The Late Models will cap the night with a 65-lap main event, while the Flying Tigers and Street Stocks will run 50 and 35 laps, respectively.

 

Hinesburg's Bobby Therrien leads a two-man battle in the Thunder Road Late Models to become the 2017 "King of the Road". Therrien has a 31-point lead over South Burlington's Trampas Demers and would become the first driver in the track's modern era to win championships in three different divisions. He previously won the Allen Lumber Street Stock championship in 2007 and the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger title in 2012.

 

"It would mean the world to me to get all three championships for the ladder system that Thunder Road has built," Therrien said. "Going into the summer, (the Late Model title) was our goal, but it was a very high goal that we set, and we're on the verge of being able to do it. To be able to get a championship not only for myself, but for the team, would mean a lot. We just have to continue doing what we've been doing. We've gotten in this position by having a strong second half of the season, so going into Friday night, we're going to have the same attitude as the rest of the summer. We always show up to win, but we have a bigger picture in mind, so hopefully we'll be able to have another solid night and be able to wrap it up."

 

Therrien opened the season with a win in the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on May 28 and has remained at the top of the standings for most of the summer, bolstered in part by five Maplewood Semi-Feature victories. Demers emerged as a serious title contender with his victory in the VP Racing Fuels Vermont Governor's Cup on July 13 and has stayed near the front thanks to a division-leading seven podium finishes.

 

The fight for the rest of the top-10 in points is hotly contested as well. Barre's Jason Corliss leads a three-way clash for third between fellow Barre racer Cody Blake and Milton's Scott Dragon with the trio separated by 31 total points. Other drivers such as Wolcott's Marcel J. Gravel and Westford's Darrell Morin are looking to secure career-best final points positions with strong runs on Friday.

 

In the Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, former champions Jason Woodard of Waterbury Center and Brendan Moodie of Wolcott will decide the 2017 title. Woodard has a 24-point advantage over Moodie on the strength of four feature victories, which is tied with Hinesburg's Trevor Lyman for the division lead. Moodie led the standings for much of the season after winning the Memorial Day opener and has remained in the hunt by posting a division-leading 12 top-five finishes.

 

Morrisville's Dwayne Lanphear is 74 points back of the lead in third and would need Woodard to miss the feature on Friday in order to keep his title hopes alive. Lyman is 16 points behind Lanphear in fourth, while Myers Container Service Triple Crown Champion Mike Martin completes the top five.

 

The Allen Lumber Street Stock championship duel is one of the closest in recent memory as four drivers sit within 13 points of the top spot. It is also a highly diverse contest with two division veterans going against two teenage competitors in their sophomore seasons.

 

Wolcott's Jamie Davis, the 2015 Street Stock champion, currently holds a two-point lead over 19-year-old Cooper Bouchard of Hinesburg. Longtime contender Alan Maynard of Fairfax rides five points behind Davis in third. Sixteen-year-old Kelsea Woodard of Waterbury Center rounds out the quartet in a bid to join her father Jason Woodard as Thunder Road champions.

 

The final round of the 2017 Thunder Road championship bouts goes to post at 7:00pm this Friday, September 8. The pits will open at 3:30pm and the front gates will open at 5:15pm. Admission for CCV Championship Night is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).
