RPM Speedway, Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu - Ce dimanche 31 août, dernier dimanche Superstar et deux courses d'endurance.
Sport Compact 75 tours
Dominik Blais #45 ne se tient qu'à deux points devant Sylvain Marcoux #44 et trois points devant Alexis Charbonneau dans le bolide #4 au RPM. Cette course prendra certes des allures d'enduro où les pilotes devront épargner leur mécanique, être patients et endurants !
Mini-Mod 20 tours
Puisqu'ils n'ont pas eu de course depuis notre dernier communiqué, la pluie étant au rendez-vous, ils en sont au même point avec Patrick Lapolice #68, premier, Nikos Halikas #2 deuxième et Francis Daigneault #77 quatrième alors que deux recrues siègent aux rangs 3 et 5 soit respectivement Jenny Lacroix #69 et Steven Noël #17. Il s'agit de leur dernière course parmi nous, les trois suivantes se déroulant à East Broughton mettent fin à la série.
Enduro 75 tours
Alain Béliveau #16 gagnant lors de leur passage à Granby viendra-t-il tenter sa chance à Saint-Marcel ? Steve Daigneault #77 qui avait mené une part de l'épreuve, mais avait terminé en 5ème position viendra-t-il se reprendre sur notre petit circuit ? Les Piette vont certes venir débattre avec eux leur intention de remporter un Enduro alors qu'Éric Piette a défendu les honneurs en terminant troisième à Granby. Peut-être s'agirait-il d'une bonne pratique avant l'Enduro 200 de Granby du 27 septembre prochain pour Gaétan Hébert #66, Pierre Raymond #15 et Pierre Thériault #2 ?
STR 40 tours
Les promoteurs jouent les stars ! Sans prétention, les duos Dominic Beauchesne/Carl Labonté, promoteurs de Revstar et Dominic Lussier/Jean-François Tessier, promoteurs du RPM et de Granby courront en STR ! Ils compétionneront les uns contre les autres et avec le reste du peloton. Ne vous inquiétez pas, ils ont tous l'expérience du volant.
Maxime #79 et Josianne #97 Plante sont toujours en tête de lice du championnat devant Francis Méthot #55. Josianne a collecté sa deuxième carrière en saison et à vie à Cornwall dimanche dernier, mais pas encore de quoi effrayer son frère à près 100 points devant elle avec 5 courses à faire pour la série dont la course de ce dimanche au RPM. Pour cette épreuve, Maxime devra tout de même se méfier de sa soeur habile sur les courtes pistes de terre battue.

Ils en seront à leur deuxième course sur le grand ovale. La première a été gagnée par Benjamin Cartier #22 qui a d'ailleurs aussi connu la victoire samedi dernier au RPM. Cartier mène le bal au classement devant Isabelle Manny #32 qui a à son grand bonheur remplacé son frère en STR dimanche dernier à Cornwall.

Ils sont de retour à notre grand plaisir. La famille Nadeau dont le patriarche, Steve a vendu le Modifié pour se dédier plus à cette activité familiale et moins coûteuse sera présente ainsi que Jean-François Niquette #13 dont le kart loge au garage des Nadeau. Aussi de la partie l'étonnant Tommy Hamel #11 dans plus d'une catégorie, Jérémy Roy #90 et Joël Courchesne #17B des habitués du Kart qui nous donneront tout un spectacle !
Slingshot Jr 10 tours
Gorden Clair #22 gagnait pour la deuxième semaine consécutive la semaine dernière. Son père sera au même moment du côté de Cornwall pour tenter de remporter la manche finale de la série Canadian Nationals où il est premier. Peut-être Gorden laissera-t-il la première place du podium vacante pour Alex Lizotte #39 ou Arianne Lacharité #14 qui ont terminé derrière lui au dernier programme.

Il y a maintenant près de deux mois de leur dernière visite. Reverrons-nous les Jean Alix #13, Sébastien Carreau #82, Tom Normandin #365, Jonathan Brunet #89 manier leur arme à moteur ?

Sugar & Spice presents double features, pancake contest at final Friday night race

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil's Bowl Speedway welcomes a NASCAR legend on Friday, August 22, as six-time national Modified champion Jerry Cook makes a special meet-and-greet appearance. The Rome, NY native will take part in an autograph session during intermission at the final NASCAR Whelen All-American Series regular weekly event of the summer, presented by Sugar & Spice Restaurant of Mendon, VT.
Cook's résumé is among the greatest ever compiled in short track racing. He won NASCAR's national Modified championship in 1971-72, then reeled off four consecutive titles in 1974-77, all while battling with fellow Rome-based legend Richie Evans. In a 20-year career spanning 1963-82, Cook won 342 NASCAR-sanctioned main events – a full 23% of his 1,474 starts. He stayed active following his retirement from driving, serving as the series director for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour during its inaugural 1985 season; he is currently a NASCAR competition administrator.
Cook has appeared on the nomination ballot for the NASCAR Hall of Fame each year since 2011. He was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998, and was ranked third on NASCAR's list of All-Time Top 10 Modified drivers in 2003. He has already been inducted into three halls of fame – the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2009), the New York State Stock Car Association Hall of Fame (1993), and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame (1989).
Cook's pursuit of national NASCAR points led him to Devil's Bowl Speedway for the "Schaefer 300" Modified/Late Model doubleheader on September 16, 1973. He finished fourth in the 150-lap Modified portion of the event behind fellow legends Bugsy Stevens, Evans, and Leo Cleary; future Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year Ron Bouchard was fifth. Cook was a winner at both Catamount Stadium in Milton, VT and current Devil's Bowl partner track Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY during his career.
Devil's Bowl Speedway wraps up its regular Friday night season on August 22 with "Double Stack Night" presented by Sugar & Spice Restaurant. All four of the track's weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will race double features, and Sugar & Spice will also present the third annual Great North American Pancake Eating Championship. Regular general admission is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (age 62+), and free for children age 12 and under. The "Fans First" program will give free admission to residents of Poultney, VT who present valid identification. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00 p.m.

Le circuit Riverside Speedway de Ste-Croix de Lotbinière sera l'hôte de la 5e étape de la campagne 2014 de l'Association de stock car Vintage Québec, ce samedi 23 août, dans le cadre d'une course importante, le CANAM 200 dans laquelle s'affronteront en course principale les pilotes canadiens et américains de la série ACT.

Le vainqueur de la quatrième épreuve de l'ASCVQ disputée à Vallée Jonction le 5 août dernier, Lucien Rocheleau, rentera de répéter son exploit, mais devra affronter les gagnants des 3 autres courses avant lui, Patrick Verner, de Trois-Rivières, et le beauceron Langis Caron, ainsi que tous les autres pilotes qui sont, eux aussi, assoiffés de victoire et qui ont tous le couteau entre les dents pour les prochaines épreuves de cette saison 2014 qui s'achève.
Les voitures qui compétitionnent au sein de l'ASCVQ sont des répliques des voitures de pilotes, qu'ils soient québécois ou américains, ont fait leur marque dans le monde du stock car au cours des années 70 et 80. Parmi elles, celle qui est certainement la plus connue dans la région de Québec est sans contredit la célèbre voiture numéro 35 de Langis Caron. Fait à signaler, c'est son pilote original, Langis Caron lui-même, qui du haut de ses 72 ans, qui la pilote, Ce dernier a d'ailleurs remporté la course principale le 7 juin dernier à St-Eustache. Un autre qui pilote également sa propre voiture des années 70 est le montréalais Lucien Rocheleau, de Terrebonne aux commandes de sa célèbre Chevelle noire numéro 66.
Un autre pilote qui sera à surveiller est sans contredit un ancien régulier de Ste-Croix, Claude Ouellet, de St-Edouard, avec sa superbe Mustang portant le numéro 92, ainsi que tous les autres réguliers en provenance de tous les coins du Québec avec leurs bolides tous aussi originaux les uns que les autres.
C'est donc un rendez-vous samedi au Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix pour y voir de l'action, du son et de la ''rod'', le tout imprégné d'un peu de nostalgie.

David Hébert #37 est confortablement assis sur la première place du cumul de Granby. Avec l'annulation de vendredi passé, les chances de détrônement s'amenuisent pour Alain Boisvert #73 à 69 points de distance et de François Bernier #49 à 82 points d'Hébert. Un combiné des pistes de Granby et de Saint-Marcel pour les Modifiés, une nouveauté cette année, vaudra 5 000 $ au gagnant ainsi que plusieurs cadeaux. Hébert avec ses deux performants bolides a la main la plus proche du butin lui qui possède 113 points sur Claude Brouillard, deuxième.
ESS 25 tours
Nous vous invitons à vous vêtir d'orange pour l'hommage qui sera rendu au pilote Kevin Ward #13 qui aurait été parmi nous, mais qui est malheureusement décédé le 9 août dernier. C'est ce jeune pilote qui avait remporté l'épreuve des ESS le 31 mai 2013 alors que celle du 23 août dans le cadre de la série Caoss avait été gagnée par Steve Poirier #28FM. Ward avait tout de même terminé quatrième. Les promoteurs de la série Dean Reynolds et Sylvain Mercier viennent se reposer de la tempête médiatique entourant le décès prématuré d'un des leurs. Les pilotes québécois, Poirier #28FM meneur de la série ESS, Alain Bergeron #8, Patrick Vigneault #55, Étienne Girard #422 en 8ème position de la série et Yan Bilodeau #123 seront heureux également de retrouver leurs supporters. La série Empire Super Sprint se transportera le lendemain au RPM Speedway de Saint-Marcel.

Jocelyn Roy #48 et François Adam #01 dormiront tranquilles seulement quand ils auront élucidé le mystère qui flotte toujours : est-ce Roy comme en 2011 et 2012 qui remportera le championnat ou est-ce Adam qui n'a gagné qu'en l'absence de Roy en 2013 ? Roy a une longueur d'avance de 14 points comme argument alors qu'Adam a cinq victoires pour faire valoir sa candidature au poste de champion Prostock 2014.

Devil's Bowl Speedway Announces Late Model Disqualification

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil's Bowl Speedway has disqualified driver Robert Bryant, Jr. and the No. 3RB car from the Brown's Quarried Slate/Brown's Orchard & Farm Stand feature race held on Friday, August 15. Bryant crossed the finish line in second place behind winner Josh Masterson in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature race for the Late Model division.
The Bryant car exceeded the maximum allowable tread width in post-race technical inspection. Bryant's feature race finish has been disallowed and he has been stripped of all championship points and purse money earned in the race. Bryant must also start in last place in the first Late Model feature race on Friday, August 22.
Jamie Fisher will inherit the runner-up finish in the main event following Bryant's penalty. Bucko Branham is now the third-place finisher, followed by Dan Petronis, II and Walt Hammond, Jr.
"It's unfortunate that Robert Bryant, Jr. is in this position, because he ran a great race and was part of an outstanding battle for the lead during the entire event," Devil's Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno said. "The infraction was minimal and likely was not a big contributing factor to his performance, but the fact is that the car did not meet the required specifications."
Bryant will retain the three bonus points he earned for a third-place finish in his qualifying heat, a ruling consistent with the policy used in prior infractions at Devil's Bowl in 2014.
Devil's Bowl Speedway closes out its regular Friday night season on August 22 with the annual Sugar & Spice Restaurant "Double Stack Night." The Bond Auto Parts Modified, Late Model, Renegade, and Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock divisions will each run in double feature events, and the event is highlighted by the third annual Sugar & Spice "Great North American Pancake Eating Championship" at intermission.
Regular general admission is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (age 62+), and free for children age 12 and under. The "Fans First" program will give free admission to residents of Poultney, VT (ZIP codes 05741 and 05764) who present valid identification. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00 p.m.

De tous les pilotes qui participeront à la cinquième édition de la CAN-AM 200, samedi au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway, Alex Labbé de St-Albert est sans contredit celui qui aura le plus de pression. On sait que cet événement annuel regroupe les coureurs des deux séries, soit ACT-Québec et American Canadian Tour pour l'unique fois de la saison et que des points sont accordés dans les deux cas.
Labbé, le coureur Larue Équipement de déneigement est celui qui l'a emporté en 2013 devant Joey Pole et Jean-François Déry de Québec. Puis, cette saison, il n'a pas encore connu la défaite au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway. Il devra essayer de remporter un quatrième succès d'affilée. Cependant, Labbé qui vient tout juste de prendre place sur la deuxième marche du podium lors d'une épreuve de la série Nascar Canadian Tire à Antigonish, devra également terminer la course pour ainsi augmenter son avance au classement cumulatif de la série ACT-Québec.
Présentement, il devance Dany Trépanier de St-Édouard-de-Lotbinière par 28 points. Patrick Cliche de St-Jean-Chrysostôme est bon troisième à deux points de Trépanier et 30 du meneur alors que Donald Theetge de Boischatel, celui qui compte le plus grand nombre de victoires à cette piste de Lotbinière, est quatrième avec un déficit de 35 points.
Avec trois épreuves à disputer, c'est plus que corsé. On sait qu'en début de saison, Labbé s'est fixé comme objectif de permettre à Larue Équipement de déneigement de remporter le championnat de la saison. Il ne devra perdre cela de vue.
En ce qui concerne Trépanier, Cliche, il connait un excellent retour et Theetge les amateurs sont en droit de s'attendre à une lutte sans merci. Ceux-ci tenteront l'impossible pour se rapprocher de Labbé. Dans ce trio, seul Theetge n'a pas encore paradé dans le cercle des vainqueurs cette saison.
Présence américaine
Selon les informations reçues de l'American-Canadian Tour, au moins dix parmi les 15 premiers au cumulatif devraient se pointer au circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway. On sait que lors des trois premières éditions de cette Can-Am 200, Brian Hoar, le multiple champion de l'ACT est celui qui avait paradé dans le cercle des vainqueurs. On ignore s'il sera présent, car cette saison, il n'a participé qu'à quatre épreuves du coté américain.
Chose certaine, l'excellent Joey Pole, le meneur classement et avait terminé deuxième en 2013 devrait être présent tout comme Jimmy Hebert que l'on a vu triomphé sur le triovale de Sanair, Emily Parker, Wayne Helliwell Jr, Ray Parent et de nombreux autres dont Stéphane Descoste d'Oka qui fait campagne sur le coté américain cette saison. Il est actuellement sixième au cumulatif.
Le vainqueur de cette Can-Am 200 empochera la jolie somme de 5,000$ en devises américaines.

It was exactly the shot in the arm the veteran racer from the Alderville First Nation needed to turn his season around.
After kicking-off Peterborough Speedway's 2014 campaign wheeling the tried and true yellow #28 machine in the Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car division, Howie Crowe parked the fan favourite ride known as 'The Bus' and brought out the newest equipment in the team's shops, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the handle 'Black Magic'. Almost immediately, the new piece began to pay dividends on the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City. Crowe says he now knows that he should have brought the car to the track weeks sooner.
"I know it sounds silly, but there's just something about this car. It's almost like it knows how to win races," said the driver, with a smile. "I drove this car to the title at Mosport in 2013. It would be great to add another piece of championship hardware to the collection back at the shop, but we have some unfinished business to take care of first."
Crowe and his team will be looking to log their best possible finishes during the 2 remaining events on the schedule for Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. He'll enter the Saturday, August 23 show with a slight 5 point advantage over Anthony DiBello and knowing the 3rd and 4th place drivers in the standings are also still within striking means the driver of the #28 will need to take a cautiously aggressive approach into each night's action.
"It could all end-up going away with a wrong turn of the steering wheel, so we'll have to be careful; but not too careful," said Crowe. "My family has been doing this for a long time, so it shouldn't surprise anyone if there is some extra crew help pitching-in to keep us in the fight. At the start of the year, we decided to run the 2014 season in memory of my brother Brad and claiming the track championship would be the perfect way to wrap things up."
After capturing the Saturday, July 26th Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car main event, Howie Crowe heads into the final events on the schedule confident that his team can get the job done and take the championship hardware back to the Alderville First Nation.
The #28 team is proudly supported for 2014 by Crowe Brothers Roofing, Trail's End, Custom Steering and Mayhew Graphics, with team publicity and promotional assistance provided by Clarke Motorsports Communications. Peltier Takes 2nd Straight PASS South Triumph At South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, VA (August 16) – Preston Peltier took the lead on a restart with 59 laps to go and led the rest of the way to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model South Boston 150 Saturday night at South Boston Speedway. The win was his first at the Virginia short track and pushed his series leading wins total to 12.
"I was pretty dejected earlier today when I hit the wall in practice and almost decided to load up and go home, but everybody came over and thrashed to get this thing ready and here we are," said Peltier after his second straight PASS South Super Late Model win this season. "We wrecked last Saturday down in Georgia and worked all week to get here, worked a lot of late nights, and it all paid off."
Following some pretty significant wall contact in the first practice session of the afternoon, Pelter bounced back to claim his 16th career quick qualifying time with a lap of 93.349 miles per hour around the quick 4/10 mile speedway. Peltier and second fastest qualifier Harrison Burton would slide back to 8th and 9thstarting positions respectively following the top 10 redraw, while Maine's Joey Doiron and June South Boston winner Cole Timm would move up to the front row.
At the drop of the green flag for the 150 lap feature, Timm quickly moved to the front, but was overtaken for the lead on lap 15 by Doiron in turn one. The first caution of the night waved on lap 30 when championship contender Jared Irvan stopped in turn four due to a fire caused by a steering problem.
On the restart, Timm moved back to the front. On lap 49, rookie Tyler Dippel moved into contention utilizing a slide job in turn one to take the lead from Timm. Following a caution for a spin by Lucas Jones in turn two on lap 56, Timm again had the advantage on the restart as he reassumed the lead from Dippel.
The third caution of the night would wave on lap 63 when Trey Jarrell came to a stop in turn four. On the ensuing restart, it appeared that Burton missed a shift causing the field to stack up behind him. Will Gallaher made hard contact with the inside wall and collected his teammate Spencer Wauters, along with Blake Stallings and Michael Rouse.
Timm continued to pace the field until lap 74 when Doiron moved by in turn three to retake the lead. Following a spin by Tanner Rumburg in turn one on lap 85, Doiron continued to struggle on the restarts allowing both Timm and Peltier to move around.
The sixth caution of the night would wave with 60 laps to go when rookies Jeff Batten and Matt Wallace made contact with the front straightaway wall. On the restart, Peltier took the lead from Timm for the first time in the race. Despite two more cautions, Peltier led the rest of the way to take the win over Doiron, Brandon Setzer, Dippel, and Burton. Rounding out the top 10 were Timm, Trevor Noles, points leader Tyler Church, Jared Fryar and Tate Fogleman.
The PASS South Super Late Models will be in action again on Saturday, September 20th for the 8th Running of the Over The Mountain 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway along with the PASS Pro Late Models and Legends. What was originally scheduled as the year's 3rd and final Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night fell victim to an all-out assault by Mother Nature Saturday, August 16th. Now, there are just a pair of regular season events remaining on Peterborough Speedway's 2014 schedule before the track titles are decided at the championship clash Saturday, August 30th on Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.
"It's a shame to lose Fan Appreciation Night because we know how much everyone - including the drivers and teams - looks forward to meeting the drivers. It does create some interesting possibilities for the next couple of weeks of racing," said track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. "Each of our 5 regular divisions - with the exception of the Mini Stocks - will get 2 nights of action to improve their point standing position."
A strong start and consistency throughout the year has Ryan Kimball and Jack Dallin in position to clinch the Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model and Parry Spring Service Renegade Truck track championships. Kimball enjoys a 66 point cushion over Adam Cuthbertson, while Dallin is less than 20 markers ahead of last year's pick-up titlist, Bill O'Hara. Willow Barberstock leads the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun standings by 14 points over Ray Schroer, while Matthew Vanderbelt sits 3rd, 41 notches behind the leader. A late season car change - from 'The Bus' to 'Black Magic' has Howie Crowe at the top of the Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car charge, but by only 5 points over Anthony DiBello. The #40 car and new driver Stu Robinson Jr. is 3rd, with 661 points.
The Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stocks will get one shot - Saturday, August 30th - to settle the score and right now, it's a dead heat in the champion chase, as Tyler Junkin and Ryan Babin are tied, each with 691 points. James Townsend sits 3rd, 31 points out of the top spot.
Next action on the agenda for Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval takes place Saturday, August 23rd with the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Parry Spring Service Renegade Truck, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model and Inex Ontario Legend divisions, with kid's barrel races at intermission. Pit gates open at 3:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and racing starting at 6:00.
